As the Countesian Jets faced an embarrasing defeat, Aursian Jet F-16 wanted to put a cherry on top by ending the lastest of them. Aursian F-16 Jets would also send in 20 HARM missiles towards the remaining ships.

The twenty missiles fired from the Aursian jets were more manageable than the firepower Mithelrond had brought to bare, and the CIWS of the surviving vessels took down a majority of them, although they had succeeded in downing another frigate which had suffered major damage to its superstructure and therefore lacked the ability to defend itself. Another major blow to the crippled Countesian Fleet before they had moved out of the conflict zone entirely.

20 September 2026

The Babyls Palace seems a bit quieter than normal.

While doing her daily work on confirming acts and committing diplomacies, President Kamijou received a phone call from Mr Nara, the minister of Diplomacy.

"Good Afternoon Ms President, mind having a few words?"

"Sure. What is it?"

"Ms Valo, the Ambassador of the Aursian Embassy, agreed to talk with us."

"Got it. I am attending. I also confirmed that the Atlantic Federalist Republic is also sending their representative to the conference, and the Janpians also seem interested."

“I will mark that down.”

The phone call ended in a few sentences, while Mikoto, after drinking a few sips from her cup of tea, stretched a bit.

"Diplomacy is truly tiring, isn't it?"

Completely unknown to the major world, leaders of the member countries of the Aqua Commonwealth soon arrived in Tokisaki City.

It seems that the dictatorship of Aursi created a large threat to the Commonwealth, causing them to consider if all members must form a joint military to wipe the threat from existence...

Mitheldalond wrote:Gilraen Strike Group
500 nmi northeast of the Armenian fleet:

Eight F/A-19 Thunderhawk fighters streaked across the sea at wave top height, escorted by a single EA-19 Electrohawk attack jammer. Six F/A-19s carried six AGM-158C LRASM anti-ship cruise missiles and a pair of ADM-160 MALD-J decoys, in addition to air-to-air missiles. The other two carried a full air-to-air loadout, just in case enemy fighters from some other nation were to show up.

The Armenian fleet had been tracked by satellite ever since aircraft from the carrier Théodwyn had spotted them leaving port in the Mediterranean. A short while ago, an RQ-900 Hermes UAV from the Gilraen had located the small fleet as they approached Aursi, after being dispatched to seek them out. Circling well outside the range of the meager Armenian air defenses, it had transmitted the positions of their eight warships, as well as several ships that appeared to be troop transports, back to the carrier group. There were also what appeared to be a few East Korean ships some ways away, but these were of no particular interest for the moment; their force was simply too small to have much of an impact on the outcome of the war, and Mitheldalond had no desire to cause unnecessary bloodshed. If the Koreans continued to move closer to Aursi, they might have to be dealt with later on, but for now, over 1500 km from the coast, their deaths would serve no purpose.

Armenia on the other hand, needed to be taught a valuable lesson. On a patriotic high from their recent gains in the Balkans, many Armenians seemed to think that they were powerful or even invincible. It was time for them to be disillusioned of that notion, and Mitheldalond would be only too happy to take them down a peg or two.

When the formation of nine Mitheldalondian aircraft was 150 nmi from the Armenian fleet, the fighters launched their MALDs, followed several seconds later by their LRASMs. With no aerial radar assets to provide early warning, the Armenians would be totally unaware that they were even under attack until the sea-skimming missiles crested over the horizon a mere 30-40 km from their fleet. At that point, the 12 MALD-Js would begin jamming the Armenian ships' radars, making it even harder for them to defend themselves.

Not that they had much chance of survival against 36 LRASMs anyway. The Russian-built defense systems on the Armenian ships were less than stellar, and the 1000 lb warhead on the LRASM meant that a single hit could easily destroy any ship in the small fleet. The primary targets were the troop ships, but the LRASMs were smart enough to allocate a sufficient number of missiles to eliminate each target, and 36 of them was enough to sink the entire Armenian fleet twice over at least.

This would be the end of the Armenian Expeditionary Fleet...

Aursian Coast:

The Countesian fleet had sailed straight into a carefully laid ambush. A stealthy Mitheldalondian RQ-170 drone, in addition to various Aursian assets, had watched silently as the fleet approached the coast. Closer and closer they came until they were barely 12 km from the shoreline.

And then the trap was sprung. Mitheldalondian anti-ship missile batteries, which had heretofore lain concealed along the coast, suddenly sprang to life. Fire control radars switched on just long enough for the four batteries nearest the fleet to unload their missiles on the Countesian ships, before quickly disappearing back into silence as the batteries relocated to avoid a counterattack. In a span of only a few seconds, 48 Naval Strike Missiles were unleashed against the Countesians, specifically targeting the assault ships and troop transports from less than 25 km away - basically point blank range for a modern anti-ship missile.

Nearly a hundred miles further inland, the 20 F-27 Vixens of the 103d Fighter Squadron roared into the air and unleashed a swarm of 60 LRASMs against the Countesian fleet. Closer to the coast, a dozen F-27 Wild Weasels from the 493d SEAD Squadron rocketed skywards. As they were picked up by the various radars of the Countesian ships, they began to fire off a volley of 48 AGM-88E AARGM anti-radiation missiles to knock out the fleet's radar systems. This would leave the ships all but defenseless when the slower LRASMs arrived to finish them off.

Interesting...

Little did the Mitheldalondians know - the Armenians always brought something to...well - counter a situation like this. Twas the standard ever since the Battle of the Meditteranean...and had always proven itself to be rather effective against its foes. The Slava-class cruiser...a few of them; each covering the of the bulk of the fleet. They had a relatively special purpose, you see...and - well - they were able to do something the rest of the fleet couldn't. They could detect the enemy's warplanes their missiles, and their MALDs, and - in true Armenian fashion - were able to promptly intercept them...thus, probably, saving the fleet from certain destruction. With the brunt of the assault dealt with...the Armenians pressed onwards - utilizing whatever they'd had in store - of course - in an attempt to help to deter any future similar attack.

Twas, without a doubt, a close call...yes - but Twasn't the 'end of the fleet', was it?

Charlie de la Mier: talking to the people.

Postby Niran » Tue Sep 20, 2022 4:49 am

The people of Aursi asked where Charlie de la Mier was from so he pulled a map of Niran. "I was born here, the hidden storm village. A brutal thunderstorm rains there all day everyday, but I worked hard and ended up working in the capital, Marvela in the center of the map where the weather is much more tame." He showed the villagers photos of the villages in Niran.

Charlie de la Mier then proceeded to continue his trade of Niranian culture. He took out a poster for a sporting event "This is the storm games. It's a local competition in Niran where competitors fight in a forrest in the most dangerous part of the storm village for a ball for 7 days, and the one who has the ball when the time is up wins. It is a very popular sport in Niran."

SAM batteries were launched from the Aursian Coast to stop the AS-19 "Koala" and AGM-130 missiles from reaching factories. A lot of them were able to be stopped. However, some of them were able to escape and landed on factories which cost 80 Lives.

The Aursian Force would suddenly see fire on the sky. They knew that they were under constant attack. So Highly Mobilized Technical Forces guarding the SAM batteries would take their position to shoot SAMs at the Libertarian bombs. They would quickly relocate the SAMs to be safe in a Counterattack.

The Tartanian Military have sent Naval vessels to Shell Aursi's defences. This is in order to weaken Aursi even further. Meanwhile, the Tartanian Air force has began to attack supply lines and factories. The Tartanian Government says that Aursi will face a swift and merciless end.

Castro has stated that Aursi has brought this upon themselves and should pay the price for their actions.

Charlie de la Mier: Escape

Postby Niran » Tue Sep 20, 2022 10:19 am

Member of the Niranian royal gathering and a prestige lawyer and ambassador Charlie de la Mier was in a coastal village in the west coast when an unknown enemy had attacked in the distance. He ordered his men to radio the NSS Chance taker to avoid docking in the west coast at all cost due to the possible firefight. Charlie then gathered the Niranian troops and crew members who came with him on the NSS Determination to stand back and only fight if absolutely necessary. He valued the lives of his men more than that of his ship. The soldiers escorted Charlie de la Mier as well as other civilians to safety inland.

Meanwhile in the NSS Chancetaker

Sailor: Governor Cullote we must sail away from this area we are approaching a possible firefight where the NSS determination landed on the NSS determination!

Cullote: No! this is our chance boy! Prepare the cannons and get ready for the fight of your life! This is my chance to get into the history books!!

The NSS chancetaker turns towards the west coast armed and ready to fight the enemy of unknown origin. Men yell orders in the back ground, others haul cannons and others load guns.

Cullote: I never would have thought the south east seas would have such dangers.

Aursi suddenly detected Naval Vessels near the Coast. F-16 Jets would leave Aursi and drop 100 AGM-Hellfires on the Tartarian Vessels. Few moments later, Aursi saw bombs on its way. So, guards relocated the SAM batteries to prevent damage. Most of them could be saved but 18 of them would face fatal damage.

Aursian Rafales and F-16 Fighter jets are sent to combat the Tartarian Air Force. SAM batteries are launched from the Coastline. S-300 SAMs are used to stop the attack on factories. However, 1 factory is heavily damaged due to the attack.

FNB Alacia
North Alacia Overseas Territory
Federal Republic of Countesia

Image

What remained of the Countesian fleet after their disastrous ambush juff off the shore of Aursi limped into port at North Alacia. Nine ships from the fleet and 6 ships from the auxiliary force had been either sunk or scuttled due to the damage suffered at the hands of Milthelrond and Aursi forces. Most of the ships that had been deployed suffered extensive damage to their superstructure and would be out of commission for months.

The CNS Rohan had somehow been spared the wrath of its opponents, and was relatively unscathed compared to its battered escorts. After it had been towed to its mooring by the ports tugboats, a small convoy of black MP vans awaited the ship to dock. The tension could be cut with a knife, as all aboard knew what this meant for the Lt. General who had gotten cocky and sailed his fleet straight into the sights of enemy anti ship missiles. The Lt. General went to meet them dutifully. As he stepped foot off the boarding ramp, the men came to greet him.

The lead MP spoke before he could offer any greetings.

"Lieutenant General Lucas Callaghan, not did you willingly sail your fleet into what was an obvious ambush, you facilitated the most devastating loss of life for our armed forces in almost a decade. On the grounds of gross incompetence, I relieve you of your command. Please get in the car. You're making a short hop to the detention center. "

Lucas nodded with a broken look "Yes, sir" He said. He glanced back at the CNS Rohan before he went with the men into the van, which slammed their doors and quickly sped away from the vessels and into the bowels of the facility. From there on, he would undergo trial for the events that unfolded in Aursi, and eventually deemed to have acted out of error or incompetence.

Another vehicle arrived shortly after, and out stepped the replacement. Admiral Fredrich Hanson had been personally requested for the role by the High Admiral himself, to assemble and lead the second attempt at a Countesian invasion of Aursi. He was fully aware of the international laughing stock Countesia had become overnight, and was dead set on rectifying such a reputation and making amends for the disastrous performance of his predecessor. Most of the replacement vessels were already stationed at North Alacia as part of Countesias global positioning strategy, but an additional number had already been dispatched from Ibica, including the flagship of the Countesian Navy the CNS Ariadne. Another aircraft carrier like her sister ship, the CNS Rohan.

Northwest Aursian coast
1300 KM

After weeks of traveling at sea the Oceanian naval has finally arrived on the main deck an OMB-28REB was being prepared this not only perform AWAC and AEW duties but also ELINT/COMINT duties so besides early warning and detecting enemy naval, ground and aerial units while also jamming enemy radars they will also be trying to intercept enemy radio and electronic communication. Finally being fueled and the defensive armament loaded the OMB-28REB was launched from the aircraft pulling its gears into the aircraft and flying to its required altitude to perform its duties by keeping an eye out for any enemy presence.

Once the deck was clear the crew brought out a few D-19s which were MiG-19s turned into the drones for their role in this war was used them to bait out SAM positions and waste the enemy expensive ammo and time going as far as adding a fake cockpit and pilots and if the enemy didn’t bother to attack them they were given some missiles to deal with their targets. Once launched more D-19s were being prepared but in the meantime other aircrafts were ready this being the OFJ-2K with a loadout consisting of 2x R-24T, 4xR-74M once the signal was given pairs of OFJ-2Ks took off from the deck into the air with another pair being launched until all of the plane in the air squadron were in the sky.

Once in the sky and with the help of the OMB-28REB perform patrol sorties near its fleet. The D-19s reaching the coast begin to patrol the area for enemy SAMs and aerial assets ready to dip or attack the enemy ground assets.

Preparing for assault on enemy invaders on Aursian coast.

Postby Niran » Tue Sep 20, 2022 2:55 pm

The NSS Chance taker was sailing through the sea towards the invaded west coast getting ready to fight off the unknown enemies and get the enemy away from getting near the NSS Determination. Men shouted in the background loading cannons and reinforcing the ship with steel incase it were to suffer a heavy blow. Many of the sailors on the ship were recent graduates of the Capital Naval University and had never been in a real ship fight. However, these men had gone through hyper realistic state of the art simulations and believed they had what it took to fight. Still all men on the ship fell a sense of dread as they sailed towards what could possible mean the end for some of them.

Sailor #1: Get the cannons ready!!

Sailor #2: Aye!! sir

Sailor #3: What are those flags! I've never seen anything like them!

Sailor #1: Well one of them is the SOL and the others I don't quite know but still we have quite a handful so stop yapping and get ready!!!

Well, he had consumed the entirety of his best remaining bottle.

He supposed it was time to get on with what would (inevitably) be his death (or, if he was unlucky, his survival).
The ships remaining under his direct control began their suicidal (and slow) charge to the coasts of Aursi, the explosive-packed penal ships being thrown to the wayside and left to chart their own fate.
The vanguard of his voyage were the ships carrying the majority of the troops, their profile hopefully being able to absorb some fire from enemy defenses so his own vessels could attempt a counterattack.

As he burst out his second-best bottle of wine, Alexi resigned himself to his fate with a silent chuckle.

MNS Gilraen, CVL-9
Undisclosed location approximately 600 nmi from Aursi:

Commodore Gina Ivorson, commander of Carrier Strike Group 4, sat at her desk in her quarters aboard the Gilraen, pouring over intelligence and technology briefings, personnel files, and historical accounts and analyses. Nautical charts were spread open on the desk and across her nearby bunk. Her computer was filled with the latest information and intelligence reports.

Because if her interpretation of the sensor feeds was correct, there was a battle to plan. The Janpians had arrived.

The massive two-panel array of the cruiser Telcontar's search radar spun to a halt, tracking yet another missile up through the stratosphere. Fully 50 ft long and 30 ft high, the radar had been designed for ballistic missile defense, long-range early warning, and satellite tracking, in addition to its more mundane role as a volume search radar. Each of the two AESA panels, mounted back-to-back on a massive rotary pedestal, could detect high-altitude targets thousands of kilometers away, and could track hundreds - if not thousands of them all at once.

Telcontar had picked up the first launch about two hours earlier, far away over the horizon, and had initially interpreted it as a submarine-launched ballistic missile. But as the ship continued to track the missile and calculate its trajectory, this identification had almost immediately been called into question, as the predicted point of impact was in some random part of the ocean. And indeed, the ship's computers provided an updated ID mere seconds after initial contact: an anti-satellite missile.

This identification was soon confirmed as the radar continued to track the missile upwards until its track intersected that of an approaching satellite. The two contacts merged, then blurred slightly: a hit. The destroyed satellite did not disappear from Telcontar's radar plot, as its debris continued to follow largely the same orbit it had occupied before the impact, but its fuzzy radar blip stretched slightly in the direction the missile had been traveling. Then the blip split in two and resolved itself into two distinct sections of debris, both following the satellite's orbit, but the second one also moving perpendicular to it along the missile's previous course, though far slower than the missile had been traveling. The debris cloud continued to expand and split. By the time it passed by the Mitheldalondian fleet, still a few hundred miles away, the Telcontar was tracking several large chunks of debris and dozens of smaller ones.

The cruiser had observed several more ASAT launches in the two hours since that first one. Most had hit their marks, but there had been a few misses. Captain Grennock shook his head as he watched the Janpians' latest attempt from Telcontar's CIC. One thing was for sure, the Air Force and space program would have plenty of orbiting debris to test their various debris-clearing projects on.

He wasn't sure just what the Janpians were thinking. Obviously, they they wanted to avoid being tracked by enemy satellites, but they were certainly going about it in a peculiar way. After all, a bunch of satellites exploding as they fly over the same area was a pretty good indication that something was going on there that somebody didn't want anybody else to see, which was exactly the kind of thing that attracted a closer inspection. Moreover, every missile the Janpians fired into orbit was as good as a signal flare to anyone with a ballistic missile defense radar in the area, marking the position of their fleet.

Already the Mitheldalondians had been able to narrow the location of the Janpian fleet down to an area of only a few thousand square miles by tracking the ASAT launches and calculating their launch points using their trajectories. They even had a rough idea of what general direction the Janpians were heading, and a very rough idea of how fast they were heading there. And they had gotten all this information from so far away that their E-66 AEW plane had yet to detect any sign or emission from the AEW plane or fighter aircraft the Janpians undoubtedly had patrolling their own fleet.

The Mitheldalondian approach to avoiding detection was quite different. They preferred to use satellite tracking data and the known specifications of Mitheldalondian and foreign spy satellites to simply have their fleets move out of the search corridors of those satellites before they came into range. This is exactly what Strike Group 4 had done to counter that first satellite the Janpians had shot down. This method had the advantage that, in addition to keeping the location of the fleet hidden, it also gave the enemy no indication that there was anything to find in the first place. It also didn't create tons of orbiting debris that could potentially damage other satellites or research stations.

The Mitheldalondian Air Force had already dispatched a pair of RQ-180 stealth reconnaissance UAVs to pinpoint the location of the Janpian fleet inside the search area. Commodore Ivorson had opted not to use the RQ-900 Hermes or MQ-18 Hummingbird UAVs of Strike Group 4 for this task as they were not stealth aircraft, and would immediately alert the Janpians to the presence of a Mitheldalondian carrier group in the area when they were detected. The Mitheldalondians clearly had the advantage of surprise here, and the Commodore was determined to make the absolute most of it.

She had sent several of the carrier group's recon UAVs to scout the large expanse of ocean between the two fleets to ensure there were no surprises headed for the Mitheldalondians, and to make sure they were aware of any other vessels in the area they wouldn't want to accidentally sink when it came time to launch an attack. She had also ordered a wide and thorough search of the surrounding area, conducted by the strike group's anti-sub helicopters and two attack submarines to make sure there were no enemy subs near the Mitheldalondian fleet. She had then ordered the attack sub Uinen to patrol between the Mitheldalondian and Janpian fleets, while the second sub guarded the carrier group.

The Mitheldalondians were ready.

Aursian Coast:

With the Countesian fleet withdrawing, a squadron of UH-60 helicopters from the 74th Mechanized Infantry Division lifted off. They headed for the coast and the site of the engagement to rescue as many Countesian survivors as they could, and transport them to the safety of medical facilities or POW camps further inland as needed. Several attack helicopters flew along with them, as a warning to the Countesians not to try any funny business.

Also the Aursian Coast,
but somewhere else:

As the Tartanian landing craft approached the shore, a quartet of Mitheldalondian A-10s sortied out to meet them. Each aircraft carried 24 GBU-53 small diameter glide bombs and 12 Brimstone IIs. Taking care to stay out of range of any short range SAMs the Tartanians may have brought with them, the four aircraft proceeded to unload all 96 guided bombs and 48 missiles onto the Tartanian landing craft.

A pair of F-27 Vixens armed for air combat hung back out of the way, ready to defend the A-10s from enemy aircraft, though the Aursian SAMs would likely be protection enough.

September 20th, 106 AUR
CSS Apollo, Thursday-class Nuclear Attack Submarine
Passively Conducting Intelligence Gathering Operations
43 hours On Station

Around 26 hours on station, roughly 0335 in the morning Anagonian time, the normally vibrant and alive control room turned into a somber and almost downright depressing atmosphere. Sonar had reported that ships on the surface had been struck by missiles or some other form of explosives, how the screws on the vessels had stopped and how a few had even begun to break up as they quickly sunk. The few that was sinking turned into many and, slowly, it dawned on both the veterans and rookie submariners in the control room what they were experiencing. Hundreds, if not thousands, of fellow sailors from navies across the world were now in the last moments of their lives. Wives, Husbands, Children, Families would soon be told of their death, and it was left to the Sonarman to report it all along with the ships CIC sensor suites.

Thirty minutes into the carnage and Midshipman Zivadin Jakes, the original Sonarman on duty at the time of discovering their shadow, had to request someone else take over. The amount of pain and grief on the mans face was palpable. The XO was on duty at the time, granting the request, and an Ensign took over his position while the Midshipman sought the council of the submarines chaplain. No one in the modern Confederate Navy had experienced or went through carnage that they were listening to just then, and Commander Nikolas Williams wasn't about to punish those under his command for that lack of experience. War was a brutal, often uncaring affair. Listening to, quite possibly, the screams of the dying intertwined with the destruction of such incalculable tonnage had to be mentally and emotionally challenging even for the most diehard professional submariner.

The XO corrected their course to not bring them near the tonnage being sent to the bottom. The control room had been quiet then, the submariners manning their stations with their thoughts and possibly personal prayers. There was nothing to say in an event like this. Quiet and silent reverence for the souls being lost was all that could be gifted. Anything else could potentially be taken as sacrilege. The groans and sounds of metal breaking and bending were growing louder by the hour mark, with the replacement Sonarman reporting that much of the combat on the surface seemed to have ceased. Nearly thirty minutes after that and Midshipman Jakes reported for duty again, the XO granting his request and he resuming his station.

"Anyone else needs to see the Chaplain, feel free," Commander Williams had offered. A few took the offer right away, the XO ordering replacements to their positions.

After two hours all positions had been retaken by their original crews after a majority of them had taken up the offer to see the Chaplain. Whether it was for the experience of the moment and wanting to offer their prayers or for seeking council on how best to adapt to the new and horrible experience, the Chaplain had been quite busy with both. Most of the rest of the crew, veterans of prior engagements with either pirates or other threats, spent their time with their thoughts. Silent prayers were the best, to them, in such situations.

Time moved and the events on the surface played out accordingly. The CSS Apollo and her crew maintained their post dutifully as their systems cataloged and observed all that transpired. By the Forty-two hour mark, the CO had the conn.

"Sonar, Conn, Status of the shadow?" Captain Robinson inquired as he viewed a report on one of the CIC screens.

"Conn, Sonar, I've lost track of the shadow," reported Midshipman Isabella Stevens. She was the shift-replacement for Midshipman Jakes who presently was enjoying some R&R.

"Very well," the Captain replied. Grayson examined the live-readout display on the flat-top navigation table. He moved it around, watching the sonar and sensor suite update contacts as necessary. Two hours ago they had even managed to catch a pod of killer whales nearby. The system had automatically tagged them as biological after being filtered properly by the Sonarman on duty.

A quick glance was offered to make sure the XO wasn't in the control room before Grayson looked back at his display. The XO had been a bit uppity since the sinking tonnage. He needed the rest and the Captain was prepared to chew into him if he saw him. Ever since the surface war had escalated and the massive tonnage had been sunk to the bottom, the Captain had been following the health of his crew very closely. The XO's report on the incident during and after had been quite concerning for the CO of the Apollo. Not that it was unexpected, just concerning it impacted the crew so much. The Chaplain had explained it to him that the majority of the crew had never even been in an actual combat situation, let alone one that involved such loss of life. Still, all crew had reacted accordingly and acceptably by Navy standards and maintained their disposition when returning to duty. That was a credit altogether granted to proper training.

"Navigation, Conn, what's my status?"

"Conn, Navigation. Your status is five knots heading two-six-five degrees. Your depth is eight-hundred and fifty," reported Navigation.

"Very well," Grayson replied.

The CO didn't intend to change course anytime soon. The way they were heading was slightly away from the rise in the seafloor which prompted the start of the Aursian mainland. In the direction the Apollo was heading, they'd be coming directly under a few "friendly" fleets sometime soon. This way the submarines intelligence systems could naturally gather information on their noise and EM signatures, as well as possibly sneak in a few communication signatures. He'd likely change course to preform a half-circle and return towards the mainland after, but that would be several hours in the future.

"Maintain course and speed," Grayson ordered.

"Conn, Navigation, Aye," replied Navigation dutifully.

"Intelligence, we're heading towards what's expected to be some friendly assets soon, so you'll be quite busy," the Captain said as he looked to the Intelligence Operative at the station. They replied with a thumbs up and a genuine smile. The CO gave a wink and a nod. They weren't necessarily required to report in the same manner as other stations, as their station was unique in the Navy typically. They were also loaned to the Apollo from the CNIA, so there again was another bridge and gap between procedures. Sometimes, rarely, they'd reply but that really depended on the person at the station. They were also usually way too busy deciphering information to, honestly, pay anything else any other mind.

"Sonar, Conn, work with Intelligence and verify signatures as appropriate," the CO ordered.

"Conn, Sonar. Aye, sir," replied the Midshipman.

An Ensign came up to the Captain's side, offering a coffee just the way he liked it. Grayson turned, giving the Ensign a smile and a pat on their shoulder. "Thanks, Robbie," he said, quite informally. Yeoman were a special breed of submariner, regardless of their position, and helped keep things running. Robbie made sure, for example, everyone had their fix to keep those engines running. It was also considered good luck to treat those responsible for your fix with the utmost courtesy, regardless of your position. The Ensign responded to the pat with a nod and smile, before going off to offer other stations their uniquely required caffeine or tea fixes.

Grayson stood upright from his leaning position over the CIC table, one hand on his waist while the other lifted his coffee mug to his lips. He watched the live CIC readouts above. As Ensign Robbie made his rounds, the control room became somewhat more lively. The Captain permitted this for the moment. Considering everything that happened, maybe it wouldn't hurt to take on some examples of his XO in regards to how lenient he was with his shift. Speaking of...

"Sonar, Conn."

"Conn, Sonar. Sir?"

"Midshipman, put on some....music you feel is appropriate. Let's...how do you younger generation say it? Vibe?" the Captain attempted, somewhat failing at communicating his intention.

There was a somewhat shocked quiet that fell over the control room as those present adjusted to the rather unusual and unorthodox command from their CO. Midshipman Stevens especially. She looked wide-eyed at her CO, then softened her expression as she looked around. Heads turned, glances were exchanged, shrugs were offered. It was up to the Sonarman to decide how to respond.

"I uh," she attempted, accepting a coffee from Ensign Robbie who didn't seem the least phased by the turn of events. "Thanks Robbie. Conn, Sonar, I'll uh....alright, sir. I'll play some Paulinho Da Costa."

"That sounds fantastic, Sonar," Grayson said. He sipped his coffee again as the soft and encouraging introduction to Dreamflow began to play. The tension in the control room seemed to sway initially, but waned and eventually broke. The crew began to softly discuss things with one another over the music, work related mostly. Grayson watched, carefully, but being sure not be seen.

Maybe the XO was right. Maybe he did need to let loose more often. After the events the Apollo had experienced, the crew did deserve to relax just a little, right? The Captain appeased the little voice on his shoulder to "relax a little", just this once, and proceeded to enjoy his coffee as the smooth jazz played in the background. Not being too loud, not being too soft either, but being just right for the moment.

It'd be a mistake to say the Mitheldalondian attack didn't have any effect...because it did.

Unfortunately for the fleet's two Grisha-class frigates...Twas the end of their journey - each of them having fallen victim to the foes' initial barrage. The rest of the ships, though? They were...fine, well - as fine as they could be after such an attack. Thank God for those 9K33s, huh? There was no time to mourn...nor was there time to reminisce. What's done was done...and that was the end of it. Chances are - if anything - they'd be honoured on a memorial once this tedious, horrible war was over. But for now, Twas only one thing in the minds of the Armenians: landfall. Sure, Twas a long way to the coast but they had to keep moving, lest they idle for too long and - yet again - fall victim to one of these terrible attacks. At the very least - it seemed that their foes were...somewhat pre-occupied with the rest of the KTO's invasion force...especially the Tartanians. Hopefully...maybe...they'd be able to advance a bit further. Picking up a bit of speed, the fleet continued to - well - do what it did best...travelling through the waves in a strategic formation.

It had been 2 days since they departed from port and all Captain John Paul Richard had seen was blue seas as far as the eye could see. As he stood at the bridge and cracked open a can of Grounder, the non alcoholic beverage that tasted almost like whisky that had been supplied to soldiers, and looked beyond. He had heard of news nearer to the front, the Tatarians engaged on the ground, an old KTO observer now standing in the way of Aursi, and Armenian ships being sunk. None of that mattered at this moment as the fighting still felt far away.

The entire fleet seemed like it had gone asleep. Like serpents the submarines briefly took turns resurfacing before diving back down. The lights were off in the barracks as the sailors slept for the night. In his cabin General Sherman took a look at the invasion plans for a final time. After making sure everything was set perfectly for the invasion the general final allowed himself to rest up.

As planes flew silently above and the ships cruised along the general finally fell asleep

OOC: why r u always destroying everything. I decide the damage mate.

Aursian Radars detected missiles coming on its way. A U-2 Jet was sent to spy on the situation and 15 F-16 Bomber Aircraft was sent to combat the Vinsegradian Force. S-300s are used to stop missiles. Most of them were able to be destroyed while on the sky. But 5 of them hit on a Shopping Mall situated at the border of Aursia State.
