Instituting a public paeaning of the national godperson? Isn't that establishing a religion?

Yes. A deeper spiritual connection with a higher being is a good thing. Especially for children. Im not even saying you have to be Christian, or even participate, but it should be encouraged. Lets be honest. If we gave the kids who dont want to participate iPads during school prayer, and they wont complain

I think I lean more towards the dissent because of money, ironically enough (something the dissent brought out). He was being paid by the state when he prayed by himself publicly - it wasn't on a break or a period where he wasn't being paid, and thus he could be reasonably be seen as still being a representative of the state while praying.
But... admittedly, that's hard to square with the notion that Congress still opens with prayer (IIRC). But I also don't like that.

Or we can get religion out of schools in general.
No. Religion is benifical to a humans mental health and gives life a deeper purpose and meaning and gives people a sense of belonging and community. Its even better for kids, cause they will be part of a church community on top of school and home, which will lead to better social skills.

There should be no compulsion or pressure to join any religion.
