Figure Skating Pairs Free Skate
Schimpol Indoor Centre, Liventia

Even as they finished their last Ina Bauer, Lois managed to whisper to her partner Deukalion, "This is good!"

They skated their conclusion, a death spiral into a final choreographed set, then stood as the crowd roared and applauded. Deukalion waited until they took their bows to reply to Lois. "It was fluid, very fluid. Let's hope the judges agree." Smiling at each other and waving to the crowd, they made their way off the ice.

At the edge of the rink, Coach Ari surprised them both by pulling them into a bear hug. "Beautiful, absolutely beautiful! You guys made the triple Axel throw look easy! It was... it was so good, it was like you were just playing around!

"Don't read too much into this guys, but--!" He kissed each of them on both cheeks.

Deukalion stood blinking, unable to think of a reply; Lois gave Ari a hug in return. "I remember you once said you'd give any of us a kiss for perfection. So we're doubly perfect!" She giggled and grinned.

"You are! You guys heard the crowd at the end of your routine. You wowed them, and I think the judges will agree. Technical niggles here and there, but oh! So beautiful!" Deukalion gave up looking for words, and stood there smiling, soaking in Ari's praise.

The three of them found their seats, and barely had their teammates started to congratulate them when their score went up. "155.24! Oh. My. God!" Lois just managed to get the words out before being overwhelmed by tears of joy. Theano, sitting behind her and off to her right, leaned forward to give her a hug. Ari grinned and beamed: "This is all a coach can ask for: a hair's-breadth of perfection!" Hippon congratulated Deukalion, patting his shoulder and shaking his hand. "Great performance!"

The team watched as the other scores came in: some of the other pairs were good, but only one or two as good, and none of them had done as well in the short program. Ari got out his laptop. "Only seven pairs were ahead of us, and one just missed staying ahead of us."

As the number of pairs in contention shrunk, Lois and Deukalion alternated white-knuckling their seats with thumbs-up and cheering, though they both winced when Keidar stumbled during their teammates' routine, knocking them out of contention.

Deukalion couldn't help cheering when the Vilitan pair bumped into each other during a tight step sequence; both kept their feet, but the judges wouldn't like that. He was quickly silenced, but he was right: the leading team was out of medal territory.

A few routines later, Ari leaned forward to whisper, "That's it! You've got a medal, it's just a question of what kind!" Quietly, Deukalion exclaimed, "Yessss!"; Lois squeezed his arm, warming to the realization of her second figure skating medal.

Minutes later, Deukalion beat Ari to the punch. "Silver! We've got silver!" He turned to his partner. grinning like a madman. "I guess we're going to have settle for second best in the world!"

"Until the next Games!" Lois' smile could have lit up the whole stadium.

NEW GOLDEN STAR ON THE OLYMPIC SKY!

ANA FRATRIĆ
Hello and welcome to Olympics Magazine.
Srednjaci have new Olympic heroine ! The amazing Tajana Berović won a gold medal and became an Olympic winner in Ffreestyle skiing - Women's aerials! Although all public eyes were on Ana Jerović, young Tajana surprised everyone and won gold in the final 2 with a score of 106.56!
Ana Jerović was the best in the final 1, but at a crucial moment she made a huge error and took sixth place in the grand final.

"A few years ago, I wasn’t even in the top four at the national championships. I watched the Olympics in Clayquot with tears in my eyes on tb. Then I firmly decided that I would be a participant from the next games. That dream has come true for me! It’s amazing that right here, in the City Center, I dreamed of being an Olympic winner! Here, that's exactly what happened! You dream a lot, you dream unattainable! But do your best." said Tajana.

SKI JUMPING

Our men's team at Large Hill had a disappointing performance in ski jumping. Ivan Čučić, Darinko Bučić, Slazar Nagyovy and Ratko Ložunić finished the competition only in tenth place.
Our jumpers were not competitive even in any series.
The gold medal went to the hosts Liventia, the silver to Quebec & Shingoryeo and the bronze to Darmen.

BOBSLEIGH—Men's two-man

Fran Bretković and Jakov Grškić had two great rides. our duo after two runs takes second place in the overall standings. The boys drove the first run especially brilliantly, in the second they were a bit slower but fast enough to keep the medal positions. Hopefully the guys will continue in a great lineup.

OTHER SPORTS SUMMARY -

BOBSLEIGH—Women's monobob - Anja Drežić finished in 11th position in final races
FIGURE SKATING—Pairs - Marija Darović and Juraj Golubić finished in 20th position in final
FREESTYLE SKIING—Women's freeski slopestyle - Ivana Majkotić didn't qulified for next round

ICE BEARS IN FIGHT FOR FINALS!

Today, a real winter treat awaits us. The hockey players are chasing the Olympic final, the opponent is the Huron League. Team Huron Leaugue is a very quality team and they play great hockey. Our players finally gain more in attack and scored more and more goals. Can they reach the finals through these opponents?

"Huron League have a few brilliant players. They play a modern hockey and definitely they deserve to be here. But, in last few games, we are also showed why we are here. Our hockey is fast, strong and if we impose our game, than we will be in the final. " said Tatjana Đureković

Goran Šimičić and Lucijan Matković will try to reach the medal in the 4 X 7.5 km biathlon relay. Our team was close to a medal in the last games, but it was left without it. This time, however, they have a far greater role than when we were debutants. Goran and Lucijan are two Olympic champions here in Liventia. Ivan Sutov is eager to prove himself after a catastrophic sprint performance and in the pursuit he was fantastic.

Kirkenes-City Centre: Going to the Olympics with KAS

At the airport
Maybe it’s just me but it gives me massive anxiety flying LCCs especially that I’ve not done something I needed to pay for in advance. Or that I missed some vital extra charge and end up having to pay out because of it. It’s never actually happened yet, and I guess with experience you learn how to avoid these issues. But it’s an extra worry on top of what’s already a stressful time getting to the airport, dealing with the tinpot fascists at the security checkpoint, and immigration officials giving you the side-eye to get you to cough up that despite everything in my documents and visas being totally in order actually I’m not just here on an innocent holiday, I really am an international terrorist and also well over my duty-free allowance by two whole bottles of liquor good god take me to the torture chamber and rendition me to the prison island now. Just stop looking at me like that, officer, aaaahh!

Ahem.

KAS charges a fee to check-in for the flight in any way other than online through the website. This is pretty normal however. It strikes me that LCCs are actually easier to handle for people who fly frequently, know airport codes off hand, and own things like neck pillows. Which is kinda ironic I think?

Departing
The flight was almost full. Just as the doors were closed, someone behind me got up and slipped into an empty seat a few rows further up. The cabin crew either didn’t notice or didn’t want to see it, meaning this guy got a premium seat for free. This was absolutely infuriating and I can’t have been the only one feeling it. I wouldn’t care if it wasn’t an extra charge, but the failure to enforce the rules meant the rest of us were suckers. This guy deserved a kick in the shins.

Purple & Gold, the Olympic Channel is down 35% in viewership. The Dodo Republic cited a similar slip in ratings for the SparrowGull Broadcasting Network; official broadcasters of the XVI Olympic Winter Games.

While the Dodo may not be extinct in The Dodo Republic, their athletes have become a dangerous species.
The Dodo Republic believes they would have better opportunities at future Games, by increasing the number of their athletes to qualify. Winter Sports are not that popular within their nation, however given the right drive, they were positive competitive athletes could start training in New Waldensia or Fluvannia were the climate is cooler to gain the advantages they need to succeed.

While viewership peaked during the spectacular Opening Ceremony in Liventia; veterans when it comes to the Olympics and bringing out all the stops to entertain and please the crowded National Olympic Stadium.
Viewers wanting to be dazzled by the opening performance, the parade of nations and the lighting of the cauldron were left satisfied Liventia delivered.

Television numbers started to dip quicker than the ranking of the RCN biathlon team by day 5 as fair-weather fans tuned out and turned into other programming.

Henrik Vardner of Waldensia Sports Talk 96.3FM summed it up perfectly;

Ratings have dipped not only in New Waldensia, but in other RCN nations also. So it was a relief not too many citizens witnessed Beatrice D'Aubigne of New Waldensia, grisly underperforming flop.

Beatrice, who competed in the Freestyle Skiing women's Freeski Slopestyle final, scored the lowest of any competitor, obviously in creative homage to the ratings.
Considering points are scored for amplitude, originality and quality of tricks, Beatrice D'Aubigne
The last two attempts must have been an unstructured void of any original spins, grinds, grabs and flips. Her performance failed to attract any degree of difficulty or variety. Her coach should be reprimanded for using the same old tricks every judge has seen. In addition to a mismatched combination that came off as amateurish New Waldensia athletes know better than to perform half baked routines. It will get us nowhere and we look like beginners instead of seasoned Olympians .

NPC West Florida Olympic Committee Head Richard Daggersmith expressed…what was originally a good idea to bring together unity, good sportsmanship and a common love and interest in sports, has not resulted in the outcome which were promised that would blossom from such a delegation. They walked away from the previous Games with a Silver in Luge-Team relay.
Hope now rests in Neil Mendez of the Alpine skiing Slalom and Johnnie Freeman of Speedskating Mass Start. Both are the last hopes for the nation to walk away with more than their dignity.

NPC West Florida Olympic Head has agreed to stay united when Winter Sports are involved as they are not its forte. However a Summer Games version may not be on the cards.

Martin Josephs of Fluvannia who is waiting to compete in the Men’s 50 km Freestyle urged fans to not give up hope. As the days start trickling down we need you more than ever, to come out and support your team. Either by attending or through watching the event live or streamed when you have free time in the evening.
After Veikko Nieminen failed to deliver in the men's 15km Classical Cross-Country event, Josephs is seen as a perfect candidate to get Fluvannia on the podium and on the medal tally. Do not switch off your televisions and do not change that dial, he joked.

Meanwhile in West Phoenicia, the success of brothers Hayden Castle and James Castle in the two-men Bobsleigh event led to their back to back gold Medals in the event. The Castle family back home is still celebrating not having slept since the win.
When phoned for comment Gloria Castle, the loving and self-proclaimed 'Sports Mum' advised reporters to call back once she was sober.

Will the back to back gold win woo fair weathered fans back to the Purple & Gold channel and retake the top spot in the ratings?

We hope so; ratings over the last few days were so horrendous they were beaten in the afternoon time slot by Season 5, episode 5 of 3 Men & a Poodle over on Channel 2 The WP Comedy Network. A nip slip by weather girl Parvati Chowdhury over on Channel 192:The Weather Channel and Channel 1 Soap opera As Lives Entwine where Muffin St Claire awoke from a coma only to fall back into another coma when she discovered the man she married was her long lost twin brother who was kidnapped at birth and disfigured in a car accident caused by the towns pastor's wife who was drunk at the wheel after being possessed by the Devil due to a cursed gypsy necklace she received for her 20th wedding anniversary.

RP Credit and Content to New Waldensia, The Dodo Republic, Fluvannia, West Phoenicia and NPC West Florida.

Slices of Life: Team Diarcesian Athletes

Of the members of the Women's Bandy Team, Luo Lian's blood runs the hottest to say the least. She is said to be a maelstrom, or even a singularity of ferocity in the rink. Her arms can be considered a powerhouse in striking the ball in dramatic style. She is not the most accurate but her offensive brutality could be on a class of its own. This is a skill she developed since she was a young girl.

The Diarcesian Bandy League was set up as an experimental offshoot of hockey formulated after the conclusion of one of the Hockey League's championships, at the insistence of some former pros who want to play with a hockey stick, but with a ball. Rumor has it that they came up with the idea after a drinking session. Whatever the spark was, the fact was that the Board of Sporting Organizations (BSO) sanctioned the Bandy League as an official professional competition organization shortly afterwards. Many of the participants in the 15th edition of the Bandy League Championships are currently part of Team Diarcesian in the XIV Winter Olympics.

"I've gone through a harrowing ski race," summed up Stefan Schutte's comments. "There's still a long way to go."

For the Diarcesian, his stay in Liventia was far from over. In a sentiment shared by many of the Monarchy's import athletes, he wanted to relish the first-hand experience of witnessing snowflakes for a little bit more. For him personally, he's aware that he could get snow within Diarcesian territory, but they're all in distant corners and far from the conveniences of the homeland. What more, there is also the upcoming team Nordic Combined contest—his remaining chance for a medal.

To the west and to the far north from the mainland of Diarcesia is Archie Henry's choice of ground to tear through the landscape with his skis. He hasn't actually been to Diarcesia much for a large part of his early life. He was born in a foreign country to Diarcesian parents and had to move a lot. It was there where he first tried the hobby, then tried seriously competing. With his high school outdoor club, they would climb to the top of the ski resort and enjoy the ride down the slope and the breathtaking views that come along with it. For him, this is literally the coolest place to be in and where he found his purpose in life. There will be no substitutes.

After doing that, his mind would wander along with his body. Sometimes, he spent a while looking at the view. Some others he would watch the other casual skiiers do their thing. Lan Kerekes loves to be among water, even if she doesn't know how to swim. So much so that when the Monarchy inaugurated its city-ships, vessels longer than oil tankers with living and working space for upwards of ten thousand people created as part of a very long-term project involving eventual space colonization, she signed up to live there. She chose the Myrtia (also home to one of Diarcesia's best tankery teams), which fortunately also has an Olympic-grade skating rink to continue her figure skating activities.

She first aimed to be an Olympian after watching Hannah Finley of Sjovenia's gold medal performance back in the XI Winter Olympics. Upon seeing Miss Finley's graceful performance in the red and black, Lan wished to do the same in her own red-gold dress with the same agility. The problem is that she continues to have trouble going over the huge hurdle of actually getting a medal given she failed to move to the next round in the individuals after she didn't make the top 24.

Snippets of aerials coverage from Network ENN

End of day 10 coverage

Tim Nicholls: Welcome back to the Night 10 of today's coverage and we have an exciting event lined up for you tonight, it's the women's freestyle skiing aerials. Now we all know the struggle that Rowena Whitehead has faced on the road to Liventia. She's suffered a quite painful ACL injury last year right after qualifying for the Olympics and she has only started to recover in the past few months. What an inspiration it was to see her give her best in the mixed aerials with Grayson Norris and Perry Armstrong to win that gold medal for Electrum.

Sarah Cox: Indeed. In this event you'll be seeing athletes building up speed down a snowy hill in preparation for a jump where they are propelled very high in the air over a very steep hill. They perform multiple backflips, twists, you name it, whatever they can to increase the degree of difficulty. As always with these things the landing has got to stick. It's very easy to not land on your two feet. Here to speak to us more about this sport is Sarah Courtney, who will be commentating today's events.

Sarah Courtney: From one Sarah to another, Hi! I've been coaching Electrum's aerialists for so many years now from Renee Steely to Rowena Whitehead. I think the main thing to take away from this sport is just how reliant our athletes are on the coaches as they make their flips and twists. You'll see it in today's coverage but one of the other Electrumite coaches, Ted, will be right up the top with Rowena. He'll be telling her what jump to do and more importantly, while she's in the air, calling out what she should be doing. Because this is an open-air event, you need to take into account the wind and the skiier's position may drift so Ted will be doing his best to make sure that Rowena lands on her feet today.

[Some of the jumps from the mixed aerials event are shown]

Sarah Courtney: If you see this coverage from the teams event, it's quite easy to fall over. When you're in the air you can only judge those small bits of green on the slope when you are about to land which isn't much. It's also very hard to focus on the green while you're doing flips and twists in the air over a well-lit, white surface which is why the coach is important. They can track the speed, track your movement and tell you what to do. I think the final thing I want to say about this event before we begin is that timing is everything. You only get two chances to qualify for the final so you really want to build up to a run that's going to get you to qualify. In the final it's just one run for all the marbles so you have to put it all on the line.

Tim Nicholls: Sounds intense! Okay, after the break we're off to the Ferrandieu Ski Sports Centre for the women's aerials freestyle skiing final.

[...]

Women's aerials finals - run 1

Sarah Courtney: There's Ted and Rowena up there! Come on Rowena, you can do it! It's been a tough journey for her, she's already achieved a gold, perhaps today will be the day she adds another medal to her collection? Okay, she's doing a back/full-full-full, otherwise known as a backflip and three twists and as you can see from that windsock there's a bit of a tailwind going on. This is an outdoor event after all. And oh no! She's landed completely on her back but she's alright. She's got another shot. Here's the replay, great bodyline, but just landing hard on the bottom there. The calls were right from Ted but it's so tough when the tailwind's suddenly picked up so let's hope Margaret will be more favourable in her next run. And it's 85.62. She knows she can do better than that, remember her best jump was over a hundred points in the teams event.

[...]

Women's aerials finals - run 2

Sarah Courtney: Okay, here it is. Ted and Rowena for their second run. She must score, you would think, over a hundred points to qualify for the third and final run of this event. The wind's died down a bit which is a good sign. She'll be attempting the same jump again, back full-full-full. Everyone in Electrum cross your finger and toes. Rowena's looking steely-eyed and focused. Wind is now picking up a bit slightly. She should slow her rotation just a fraction to compensate for landing and I'm sure Ted and her have been talking about it. She must succeed here to qualify. ROWENA! She's leant slightly back and just touched the snow with her hands. Ted was yelling her to stretch to slow down the flip and her time in the air was perfect. I think she was a little bit stressed about the landing considering what happened last time which is why she's done that. With that error I don't think it will be enough in this very close final but can I just say she's doing a magnificent job in her recovery and I'm sure she'll be happy with where she's ended up at these Olympics. It's 96.03. It's close but it's not enough. Well done Rowena.

Truly exceptional day

This day will possibly become the best in history of Waisnorian sport, because of just incredible amount of success in this day in Olympics. Even not taking into account silver of Leonid Chernetsky, Ignat Kalitnik, Grigory Davydov and Arkady Kravchonok in biathlon men's relay and bronze of Anastasia Obukhova in women's snowboard big air, Waisnor still has not one, but two gold medals this day:

We're stating off with performance of Arthur Pavlovich in men's snowboard big air, who was seen as one of main favourites to win the gold medal, which would be his 2nd in a row, especially after winning his qualifying heat. And Arthur was definitely getting ready to show everything he could today.
But his first run kinda resembled start of his qualifying heats in that it was not a very good statement on his victory ambitions - his routine was pretty easy for him, and even though he executed it nicely, it still gave him only 67 points, which was definitely not enough to have a shot in race for medals. But those who wanted him to win remembered that in his second and third runs he greatly improved upon his first result.
And second run proved those who expected him to get more points definitely proved them right - his programme was now much better suited for him with some pretty hard tricks, but his performance didn't lost any technique perfection he had, and now, he got a whopping 90 points and a good shot at winning another gold medal.
But there was still third run, and since winner was now decided by summ of all points, he needed to make some good performances there too, and he definitely achieved that goal - his program was slightly different from the one he performed while on second run, but execution of it was still pretty good, and for that, he got 83.5 points.
In total, his 173.5 points firmly put him to the first place, making him pioneer in several directions - he was now the first Waisnorian athlete with 2 gold medals and first one to defend his title. After winning his second gold, he said that he was incredibly happy with this fact. And many Waisnorians knew he was happy, even if he wouldn't say that, because Arthur Pavlovich was now pretty much a living legend in Waisnorian sports history.

Now moving to the second gold of today, and it was won by a women's pursuit team of Alisa Zyuleva, Svetlana Antonovich and Natalia Ashcherina in speed skating. After a pretty brutal defeat of New Gelderland, now they were taking on team from Darmen, consisting of Eleonore Ott, Giselle Del Bosque and Idella Mould.
At first, Darmen even had the upper hand there, but Waisnorian team began doing what they could best - shortening that gap, and soon, they were now enlarging their own gap, getting away from Darmen. But even though this team definitely was tougher than New Gelderland one, they still were losing two seconds by the middle of this race.
But from that moment race was getting kinda stale - nobody was making any big moves, only slightly tipping the scaled to their sides, but only fraction of a seconds were being traded. After that half of the race finished, Waisnor comfortably passed to the finals with a pretty good gap from Darmen.
Their final task was beating the team for The Licentian Isles, which consisted of Summer Grant, Alex Gillies and Hailey McPhee. Now the task was even thougher, since Waisnorians were battling against the team that recently knocked out reighing holders of Olympics record from Quebec and Shingoryeo.
And the first half of this race proved to be a challenge for both sides - there was a long period of time where viewers couldn't really tell if some team was definitely leading as both sides were making their moving, trying to take the upper hand. But this happened only in the second half of the race.
Waisnorian team finally managed to get some gap over Licentian Isles, and Zyuleva, Antonovich and Ashcherina were holding for their time with all their forces. But still, Ott, Del Bosque and Mould weren't giving up just now and trying to shorten that gap and succeeding in that task. If they were given enough time, they definitely could overtake Waisnor as the winners of this race, but the race ended with Zyuleva, Antonovich and Ashcherina as new Olympic champions with more than a second of lead over Licentian Isles team.

OTHER RESULTS
Ludmila Gorbovskaya placed 13th in alpine skiing women's downhill
In bobsleigh, Dmitry Bolkhovsky and Evgeny Levitsky finished 41st in men's two-man competitions
Sofia Kulishkina didn't qualify to the free program in figure skating women's singles, finishing 32nd
Robert Omelyanov and Inna Filippova also failed to qualify to the final, now in ice dances, finished 28th
Marina Koloshkina placed 7th in women's freeski slopestyle
Yaroslav Gavrilenko barely missed out on qualification in men's freeski slopestyle
Both Waisnorians in freestyle skiing men's aerials, Alexey Belko and Bogdan Radilov, qualifies to the final

Shield, Episode 9
"According to the laws of anime"

Shield once again was seen working on the case of his missing parents, but it seems they truly didn't leave any traces behind. Matt saw only two ways this could happen - either they themselves decided to leave, which would definitely be pretty irresponsible, either they were "erase" by someone else. Maybe, the same organization that kidnapped Matt, these Knights guys...
But once Matthew again almost slipped fully into this thoughts, his belly said he needed to go eat something.
"You always ruin my thoughts)"
And as Matthew got into the kitchen and made himself a sandwich, he turned on TV and after some clicking found one news report from Japan. It seems that the Yokohama was ravaged by... a giant robot?

*insert shonen anime opening here*

Shields was already flying over Pacific Ocean, navigating himself with the help of wristwatch and with the sandwich in the mouth, barely having any time to take a bite of it. But overall, it was finally eaten and Matthew arrived to Yokohama.
Of course, he would want to spend some more time here as a tourist, but authentic sushi and anime shops definitely weren't his focus right now, as the main reason he's here quickly showed himself.
It was a pretty big robot, about 25m in height, and humanoid in shape. People were getting away from it, as it was just walking. But soon he showed what he could do.
R: "Cannon Blast!"
With this words, a cannon rolled out from his hand and started shooting at buildings. Matthew quickly rushed to one of them, looking for survivors. As some people were found, he deported them to safety. This process was repeated a couple of times, before all people that Matt could save were now in safety, and now Shields faced off with the robot itself.
"I see you like shouting... I'll try to close that mouth!"
Matthew quickly flew to the head, with pair of swords in his hands, ready to stab him. But when it was time to make this blow, some strange thing occured - his swords were not able to even scratch that robot, even though it didn't look like he was made of some very hard metals.
R: "Dynamite Blow!"
With that Matt was blown away with his kick, only barely managing to cushion that blow with his shield, and this shield also served as sleigh when he was skating on the asphalt.
"Damn... Either he's made of some tough materials, or there is some spell on him... Actually, I have an idea."
A swarm of nanites began appearing near Matt, and with one swing of his hand they were getting to that robot, especially their insides to break apart wires, chips and other systems to make this robot dysfucntional.
Meanwhile Matt was examining that robot with the scaner inserted in wristwatch. All was doing fine with scanning until...
R: "Crushing Sword!"
Matthew was almost, well, crushed under that definitely massive sword with robot took from his back, and it seems nanites didn't do much work.
"Made of steel with some impurities? That's all? Ok, now he's just pissing me off..."
Matt once again flew towards the robot, now making up a very massive blaster which could blow up a small building if needed. Now Shields was firing it up at full force...
But once again, even that didn't leave as much as scratch on him and robot was now making his move.
"Obliterating Shot!"
Now robot got his own blaster, and it was fired at Matt. He barely made it out alive, being protected by his shield and getting yeeted to the other ends of the street.
"What the hell is with this robot? Is he invincible?
Wait a minute..."
Matt remembered all the times this robot yelled out name of his attack before attacking and got the idea that he should try it too. A slight smile appeared on his face.
"I wanted to do this a long time...)"
Matthew once again appeared before the robot, now with some new tactics.
"Let's do it...
Swords of Justice!"
Shields created a bunch of swords, directed at the robot's head and which, after a swing of hand again, flew directly into it, finally making a damage to this robot.
"It works! Now let's go with...
Wave of Destruction!"
Matthew made a wave made out of nanites and directed it at the robot, almost slicing him in half. Now robot was almost beaten and Matthew just needed to make the final blow.
"And now...
Plasma Cannon!"
That blaster/cannom once again appeared, but now fully prepared to finish off this robot. That shot finally happened, and robot, with a pretty much annihilated head fell to the ground, as did Matt after landing on the ground. He began deeply breathing, as he understood that was his hardest battle so far. But also... his most thrilling one.

Figure Skating Women's Short Program
Schimpol Indoor Centre, Liventia

"That was a hell of a fall you took. You OK?" Keidar helped Lois off the ice and into a seat.

"Yeah, I'm OK...ish. I knew this was going to happen: the pairs took a lot out of me, even with Deukalion doing most of the work, so I knew this wasn't going to look good. But I thought I'd make the cut, at least." Lois closed her eyes, trying to shut everything out, but Coach Ari had already reached her, along with the team doctor. "I'm fine, really. I just have a sore hip."

The doctor gave her a concerned look, and asked to check her hip, but Lois declined. "If it's still sore in an hour, I'll talk to you. Competition's over for me. I'll be fine for an hour." Ari and the doctor reluctantly left.

"But you did well, Keidar."

"I placed well, but I'm about 6.5 points back. That Arafroza woman from the Vilitan Union is good."

"Yeah, she blew the whole field away. Still, it's your time to shine." Despite the ache in her hip, Lois managed a warm smile for her teammate.

A grin flickered across Keidar's face. "Thanks." After a short silence, she added, "But missing the cut doesn't seem to bother you much, does it?"

"A medal is a wonderful pillow to rest on."

"I wouldn't know."

That cut, so Lois winced. "Sorry, I didn't mean it like that. I just-- I'm just going to shut up before I shove my other skate into my mouth."

"I know what you mean, though: it's a big comfort. Even if you'd taken a worse fall and were out of competition for good, you could say to yourself, 'I won two Olympic medals'."

Smiling, Lois softly said, "That's why I hope you get one."

"You really mean that!" Keidar perked up.

"Yeah. I was thinking – and talking to Deukalion – that since I've got two medals, and he's the better half of the silver one, that maybe we could push for better training facilities, maybe some junior coaches to help Ari out. Then we'd be in better shape internationally."

"You've got big dreams!"

Lois shrugged. "I made one real, why not another?"

"We showed them!" Rumya Ruet put her hands on her hips. "You know what they said: we got in under the 'mercy rule'. Ha, we didn't need any mercy! We can compete just--"

Eitan Omid sighed loudly. "Making the cut just means we didn't screw up."

"But they thought we were screw-ups! And now we're in the finals!"

"Fine! Fine, if you really want to be that way, we really have to 'show them'. We're 7.52 behind, so you need to stop crowing and start walking through tomorrow's routine with me. 'kay?"

"Give me another minute to be righteously vindicated, then we'll start."

Eitan turned away, shook his head, and rolled his eyes: this was going to be a long evening.

"How do we restart this level?" Chaya turned to her husband, Kedem ben Tebaeus, who looked confused. "These whole Games have sucked, so I want to start over. We dragged ourselves through the qualifiers, I just blew my slopestyle final, and you're dead last getting into your slopestyle final. So let's hit the reset button, and reload."

Kedem smiled and chuckled. "I don't think game has one of those." He walked the few steps between them and hugged her.

"Well, somebody should patch it. It's broken!"

"I'll see if I can find a geek to do that." He held his wife, gently rocking her.

LUCIJAN MATKOVIĆ WAS ENTERED IN THE HISTORY OF OUR SPORT!

ANA FRATRIĆ
Hello and welcome to Olympics Magazine.
Dear viewers, we have new gold won in the City Center!
The men's biathlon relay won a gold medal and our anthem played in their honor, for the eighth time at these Olympic Games.
Lucijan Matković entered the history of our sport as the first athlete to win three gold medals at one Olympic Games. After winning two gold medals in the individual competition, Lucian also won gold in the relay today.
Our relay team consisting of Lucijan Matković, Ivan Sutov, Hrvoje Ružička and Saša Ćorić won gold in front of the Waisnor team and host representatives of Liventia.
Here is what our Olympic champions told us briefly.

"This is an incredible achievement of our biathlon! The competition was fierce! In Claycout we were close to a medal and we failed to win it, we were almost perfect here. Congratulations to the boys on a great task. We were well fed." said Lucijan Matković

ICE HOCKEY - Women's

Semi-finals
Srednjaci (SRE) 2–0 Huron League (HUR)

Our hockey players played an incredibly great game. The Ice Bears beat the Huron League 2-0 in the semifinals! Goals for our team were scored by Marija Velić and Jelena Ivezić.
Jkobušić was excellent on goal, defending every shot that went within the framework of our goal.
This means that we certainly have another medal, the only open question is which colors will be, gold or silver.

"I want to congratulate our girls on a great game. They were incredibly focused, eager to win! The game was high quality but we were a better team. Vilitan Union is waiting for us in the finals. A very powerful team but we are not passers-by in the finals. then we have great chances for gold, "said Tatjana Đureković

TVRTKO LJUTIĆ AND WOMEN'S RELAY ARE MAIN EVENTS FOR US !

The Olympics continue at their own pace. We are entering a new day of competition and for us the most interesting thing is what our alpine skiers and women's biathlon relay will do.

BIATHLON WOMEN'S RELAY - Nina Mandarić/ Ivana Mandarić/ Gordana Buškotić/ Olga Masterkova

Our women’s biathlon relay is defending the gold medal from Clayquot. The Mandarić sisters are our greatest hope. Along with them, there are also the young Gordana Buškotić and Olga Masterkova. There will be a few more great relays and the competition will be great.

True North Sports

Quebec and Shingoryeo possible for a summer Olympics bid, but with one condition

Pierre Parker Jr.

QUEBEC CITY, APITALE-NATIONALE - Quebec and Shingoryeo may be prepared for a Summer Olympics bid, but the Quebecois Government's support comes with one and only condition to back it - only if it's done as a cohosted bid.

It is revealed in To Sustain A Joint Sporting Future, a recent report by the Quebecois Government that was aimed to continue coordinate the bidding and hosting of various sports tournaments across the northern Anaian nation.

The interest to bring the Olympics to Quebec and Shingoryeo, after two successful hosting of olympic qualification events, is listed on the Chapters 13 and 14 of the document. 'The success of the olympic qualification events in Quebec for 2024 Aeropag and 2054 City Centre games, where the nation has proven itself to be capable of hosting both the Summer and the Winter Olympic Games, seem to indicate a positive trajectory for the nation, one that should not be ignored,' the report says.

'The challenges in hosting the Olympic Games, whether solo or cohosted, cannot be ignored. While the Royal Quebecois Olympic Committee, who have stayed well away from any proper bid due to various concerns of their own, remains unsure on whether it can be worked out in future, it remains hopeful.'

Over the past decade Quebec and Shingoryeo has seen a success in hosting various international sports championships, whether as a solo or cohosted effort. This includes and is not limited to the International Basketball Championships 33 with Bollonich, World Cup of Hockey 40 and 44, Rugby Union World Cup 30 with Ko-oren, and most importantly the aforementioned the Olympic Qualifiers held ahead of XVI Winter Olympic Games (more commonly branded in Quebec as 2054 City Centre Games).

It has also hosted other tournaments such as the 17th World Junior Hockey Championships and the 11th, 12th and the 14th Volleyball World Expos, and in past has expressed their interest to bid for the World Baseball Classic, only one of four major 'American Sports' tournaments it has never hosted on home soil. While the Imperial Sporting Council and the Quebecois Baseball Federation have set said goal as more a consideration than possibility, citing the tricky logistics and the cold, wintry Quebecois climate that would cause difficulty in hosting the WBC, the Government remains convinced that they will back any opportunity to host a major championship that the nation is capable and interested in hosting.

'We are trying to find a middle-ground solution here, where a Quebecois city named neither Montreal nor Quebec City can host a multi-sport competition with sustainability and regional solidarity in mind,' said MacDougall Hewitt, the Sports secretary of the third Arsene Kim ministry, at the launch of the To Sustain plan. 'There is always going to be a lot of discussions about maintaining balance, and away from the so-called Big Two. But we cannot and should not expect the Summer or Winter Olympics to be hosted alone, partly due to logistics reasons but also due to finances. So we have to think realistically about it.

'Thus it is recommended that, regardless of candidate city we recommend for selection, we must them to at least consider cohosting it with another nation. This was what Nassau Bay and Centralis did, Novonaya and Provinsk did, and just a decade ago Istria and Orean did. All three times we've seen it work excellently.'

So far three cities were interested in bidding for the Summer Olympics, with all of them considering cohosting as a serious option. Two of the names mentioned are Kingston and Labrador City, who have hosted the 2018 and the 2035 Quebecois Commonwealth Games. Kingston holds the edge over other three due to the Frontenac province's economic state, Kingston's extensive resume of hosting major tournaments within the city, and strong presence of the Greater Kingston Area MPs in the Third Kim Ministry. Labrador City, who have drawn praise twenty years ago for the successful execution of extensive infrastructure projects in the years leading up to the Commonwealth Games, is a darkhorse due to the environmentally-friendly agenda the plan pushes forward.

Mengwes-Habpo appears to be the clear favourite, however, with the southwestern city of 1.75 million people, which did not host qualification events for the Games of the XI Olympiad (2024 Aeropag) thirty years ago, drawing notice from the RQOC officials. While the Mengwes-Habpo bid, which considers cohosting as an absolute option, is yet to be revealed to the public, words have come out that it holds particular interest for the compactness of the three clusters with Downtown, Collegiate and Mipo clusters all located within 10 kilometre radius of each other. Furthermore, it has drawn a notice for their sustainability section where not only no new venue will be built from scratch, but the Olympic Village will be repurposed into a mix of student residences and low-incoming housing with community centres.

Three cities' interests, with all three having hosted a major sports championship over the past decade, seem to follow the RQOC and the Imperial Sporting Council's policy to limit travel by requiring most tournament bids in Quebec and Shingoryeo to be hosted by a host city or cluster. This policy of hosting the events in regional clusters have worked well in past tournaments, and with increased concern for sustainability in multi-sports competitions, the possibility of a smaller major city, provided they have met the infrastructure and visionary requirements, appears to be enticing.

Vilitan Union Women to Play for Gold
Men eliminated by Huron League, Leave Empty Handed

Image

Michael Harley National Indoor Arena, City Centre, Liventia :: The Vilitan Union Men's Ice Hockey Team used up all of their energy and mojo in the playoff round when they went to a shootout to take down host nation Liventia and advance to the Quarter Finals of the Men's Ice Hockey Competition at the XVI Olympic Winter Games. Unfortunately, the first ever meeting between the Vilitan Union and the Huron League would not go in favor of the Ice Cat Things who fell in defeat at the Michael Harley National Indoor Arena and as a result have been eliminated from Medal Contention for the second consecutive games. It was the end of a disappointing spell for the Vilita and Turori based team who also failed to medal during the AOlympic Games Winter Challenge in the open Ice Hockey competition of the Atlantian Oceania Hockey Championships. Going yet another tournament without a podium finish has almost certainly spelled the end of the major competitive era for Vilita and Turorian Ice Hockey and has many fans of the Ice Cat Things wondering whether it was time for some new faces both behind the bench and on the ice for the Vilitan Union.

Of course, there were no questions being asked on the Women's side as the Vilitan Union women continued their impressive march through the Ice Hockey competition field as they defeated Atlantian Oceania based rival Cordia 2-1 in the Semi Finals to progress through to the Gold Medal Game. It will already have been considered a successful tournament for the Women being guaranteed at least a silver medal however they will also be looking to earn the Vilitan Union's first Gold Medal of the Games. With seven overall medals including three silvers thus far in Liventia, the Vilitan Union leads all delegations for most medals earned with zero Gold Medals. After failures in the preferred Bobsled and Ski Jumping disciplines thus far, the Women's Ice Hockey competition could be the Vilitan Union's best chance of finally getting rid of that Golden Goose Egg in the medal tables.

Orysya Tkachuk – The story of someone who shouldn’t even be here and won a medal

Orysya Tkachuk biggest success before was a third place at the Z-Games, the Kriegiersien winter event.
She made it into the Kriegiersien Olympic team, but wasn’t seen as a candidate for qualifying.

In New Gelderland she ended as 7th, somehow managing to get her ticket to Liventia. There was no uproar except from the tailor for the clothes of the team, who needed her measurements, which were lower than the average.

Still, no one was interested in her when she started as Underdog in the Slope. She requested autographs from the other athletes.

She qualified as 6th and last of her heat for the final what surprised her teammates and a few fans. No one expected something from her.
She had a nice evening meal, slept well and went into the final.

Two times she performed as good as she could. Neat. The third time she had a perfect run, making a perfect show, way over her head, while others faltered.
Bronze, the first for Kriegiersien at these Olympics.

“I can’t believed it. No one knew me before, now I get congratulations from everywhere and request from sponsors. I am total overwhelmed.”

Maybe we will hear more stories about her from now on.

Part 1: viewtopic.php?p=39531797#p39531797

Part 2:
Leaves rustled in Parj Park. The soft wind blew through the trees. If this were a movie, the audience would know something eerie had happened. In this case, they would be right. General al-Hika stood, dusting himself off. He looked around; nothing was out of the ordinary. He started to walk toward the gate to the park. Finally, after several thousand years, he had made it back to the real world. No more of that sand-covered wasteland. But it was late. He needed to rest. But after all, what was one day more?

Noah Jenson and Amir Van Alsberg sat in the former’s car. Leroy still hadn’t come out of the park. Noah was exhausted, and soon fell asleep. Amir nearly followed, but, as he started to close his eyes, he spotted something moving in front of the park. There wasn’t much light, but the faint streetlight reflected heavily off something. Jewels. Amir snapped awake. “Noah!” he hissed. His friend stirred. “Noah! Wake up!”. Noah started awake.

“Yeah? What do you want, Amir?” Amir just pointed. “That’s not Leroy.”

“No, Noah, it isn’t.”

“We have to go after him! But not in the car. He’ll hear us.” The friends silently slipped out of their car. General al-Hika had almost disappeared from view. They sped up. al-Hika kept going. Amir and Noah broke into a run. They burst around the corner. And were alone. The general was gone.

The next day, Amir was walking through Central Park when he spotted Noah dashing through the alleys behind it. He didn’t think twice. After looking around to make sure nobody was watching, he took off down the alley. It was tricky to keep his balance, what with all of the random trash and back doorstep drop-offs. He barely made it through the first alley. And as he came out through the other side, a quick sighting of Noah made it clear he would have to wander through many more. Or so he thought. As he started out toward the next alley, he saw a series of steps leading down. A sign above stated that this was an underground passageway to the Chrysler building. It was essentially a footpath that acted like a subway or a metro. Even if Noah wasn’t going to the Chrysler, that was the direction he was headed. It was also a very cleared area.

10 minutes later, Amir emerged to find his friend in a showdown with the general. A few straggling pedestrians were cowering in fear nearby, but the area seemed generally empty. Noah dashed around the square, narrowly avoiding al-Hika. Amir rushed out. The general had his back to Amir, and, doing probably the dumbest thing in his life, he tackled al-Hika. They tumbled to the ground. “Amir! What are you doing here?” Amir couldn’t really answer. Even that tiny bit of focus he had used to process Noah’s words had allowed Parj al-Hika to get him off his back. The general stepped back.

“You two don’t know what you’re doing. I defeated your friend. With his key, I won’t be stopped.” With that, the general turned to go. Amir and Noah had to think fast. Quickly, Noah hurled a loose stone toward the general. It smacked al-Hika in the shoulder, knocking off his shoulder plate. With that, Leroy’s key fell out of where it was being kept. Amir had already gotten up, and used the distraction Noah had caused to dive for the key. Parj looked down in surprise, and shoved into the diving Amir. Their shoulders collided, knocking both back. Had it been one-on-one, the fight would have continued. But Amir wasn’t alone. Noah ran in and scooped up the key.

“It’s over, general. You’re being sent back to the past.” Noah hadn’t been exactly sure of how to use the key, but, in the moment, it came to him. He pushed in the gem, and turned the key in the area. A shimmer in the air revealed that the doorway had opened. And then something curious happened. Parj al-Hika had been searching for this key his entire life. Leroy’s ancestors had been the ones to find. But it was Noah, who, remember, hadn’t even known about this until last night, who fully used its power. Oscar Stanislav had discovered its teleportation and its trapping powers. Parj al-Hika had discovered the way to escape. But Noah was able to shape and move the slit in the air, and completely covered the general in it.

It was over. Noah and Amir had to go home. They had to accept the fact that Leroy was gone. They thought it would only get easier if they moved on. And so their lives were normal. But, unknown to anyone, the Sands of Time weren’t a permanent prison. Two weeks after the Chrysler Building battle, a scarred, dirty hand grabbed the sides of the pit that housed the Sands of Time. And, slowly, that hand pulled up a man. Leroy Stanislav.

Before the Olympics…

Practice, Practice, Practice…

A word she grew to hate from Galina Ivanov; her coach for the last two years.

Her coach was correct, but one didn't need to have it drummed into their head every day. It wasn't as if she was slacking off eating potato chips and watching Netflix all day.

Arguments would flare up as Coach Ivanov played the dictator coach card to a tee. Philadelphia loved it, though she would never admit it. But she enjoyed the heated discussion
over every little detail as she practiced on the ice.
She simply detested the word practice. It was a word one used to encourage those who failed to have natural talent.

Coach Ivanov was a strong and determined woman of 50 years old.
Philadelphia respected her as the coach didn't fear Philadelphia because she was a princess of West Phoenicia. In fact she couldn't care less. Her goal was simple, encourage the athlete she was training to be the best they could be. It didn't matter if they were a princess or a peasant.
Of course no peasant could afford the coaching fee, so Coach Ivanov was talking out of her ass on that point.

Philadelphia's other support base, her dietician, drama coach, dance choreographer and music composer feared her family name and her father; so they never pushed an issue if she wasn't in the mood or disagreed.
It was 2022, executions for disagreeing with the monarchy were not as common as they were 200 years ago. She would often ensure to say 'not as common' it kept her support staff on their toes.

Philadelphia veered off course practicing the step sequence element, falling to utilise the whole ice. Her body was out of sequence to the beautiful piece and she was aware she messed up.

She blamed her brain, it was hypnotised by the music that triggered her memories from her wedding late last year.

The composer she used to write all her music was a miracle worker. Hand picked by herself, she had loved the instrumentals Samson DeGaul uploaded to the social media site Vibr.
While initially wishing to stay independent, a little coaxing and a nice fat cheque enabled him to change his mind and join the princesses team.

'Dedicatus' was Samson DeGauls newest composition. Music for her Olympic Freeskate performance. He said it had all the wows and tears she wanted to deliver to the judges.

The piece she could perform would reflect her recent marriage to Prince Nicholas of the House of Kleinberger-Ontarilainen of The Federated Principality of Fluvannia.

Growing up, marriage was at the bottom of her 'Things to Conquer' before she was 30. Her bucket list contained goals of world travel, waltzing in every noble ballroom in the world with cute bachelors, obtaining a pilot licence, winning a medal at the Olympics, inventing a salad after her namesake and help build Wells for third world villages who had to travel miles to collect water.

She was only 22, so all the goals were achievable, all except obtaining a pilots licence. She feared she suffered from Aerophobia, she hated being a passenger on a flight, let alone be the one steering. So it did surprise her when she met Nicholas at a fund-raising Gala.
It was love and not an arrangement, but it did please her parents for falling for a royal, especially one from a Royal house which did not have West Phoenician blood in it, hopefully that would change in the future.
With her eldest brother and sister married to each other, tradition was fulfilled for this generation. So she did have the freedom to marry outside the family line if she desired. None of her cousins or their titles interested her.
So it did surprise even herself when she accepted Nicholas' proposal of marriage. Upon her marriage she was also titled Duchess of Deception Bay, she was happy with her titles and didn't yearn for anything higher.
While married to someone from Fluvannia, she would continue to compete for West Phoenicia, a country where most of her time was spent anyway.
But it would be funny if she did win gold, both nations fighting over the right to claim her as their own.

"Philadelphia Philometor Panagia, your step sequence needs to convey a message of love. You love this man. You are joined together by holy matrimony. Yet you are parading around as if you just saw his face and he looks like a warthog.
The audience and judging panel want to see emotion, good energy, tears of joy and love. A warm smile and effortless skating that displays these emotions.
Why are you paying so much money for a drama coach who can't even get that I'm constipated look off your face every time you run through this performance. It needs to be flawless before we submit it to the Olympic officials."

Philadelphia cringed. Philometor was a perfectly suitable epithet, as she adored her mother. She hated Panagia, walking around with 'Most Holy' was not appealing and often led to some very crude jokes about her sexuality. She also hated when her coach addressed her by her full name, it was a way for her to gain Philadelphia's full attention.

Philadelphia knew the crone of a coach was right.
The step sequence and the choreographic sequence were letting her down.

Her double Axel's were flawless and clean.
While some other athletes were progressing to triple Axels, it was still not a jump she was comfortable with. Perfect execution would boost up your score, but several competitors were wobbly, sloppy, hard landing when they performed such a move. If you ain't got it downpat, don't add it to the routine her coach said one day when Philadelphia thought she needed to perform such jumps to lool engaging

She needed to concentrate and practice, practice, practice the artistic side of her routine. Judges were always on the lookout for creativity and originality. No one liked sitting through the same routine, year in and year out of inward spread eagles, same old salchow movements and bent-leg layover spins.

Philadelphia needed to ensure the step sequence and choreographic sequences synced and blended with the music, including flawless jumps and spirals.
In the past she was criticised by the technical panel for not giving a clear indication when the sequence began and ended.
It all came down to nerves, she was as nervous now as when she first started competing. Nerves caused her to rush through a sequence and miss elements in the choreographic sequences.
It's why her coach was spending more time working those elements instead of her jumps and spins.
Spins were her forte and one of the elements she was best known for on the team.
A work of art, her former coach labelled one of her spin combinations that included all three basic positions with a sharp, clean and well executed and balanced segway into the entrance of the spin combination. Her favourite overall was the forward camel spin, which Coach Ivanov adored but encouraged to expand on, so it didn't become something everyone had seen before and wished she would go beyond what they knew she was capable of performing.

Her coach said a clean performance was fooling the audience into believing the routine appeared difficult yet effortless.
They wanted to see the magic and believe you could do it in your sleep even if bruises stated otherwise.

Philadelphia believed she had a good shot with her routine performed to 'Dedicatus' at the upcoming Olympics. Now that Angelika Lipinski had retired, it was her time to shine.

Inoffensive Centrist Autocracy

Postby Diarcesia » Mon Apr 18, 2022 7:51 pm

The highest echelons of the Monarchy Diarcesian are collectively called the Archonate after the establishment of the monarch-triarch-heptarch-nonarch system. The title of "archon" in the Diarcesian understanding originally is given to the ruler of the city-states that dot the Pronotus Peninsula.

As the Monarchy was in the stage of unifying the city-states (or more commonly denoted as 'petty archonates') by the Petty Archonate of Arcesius, the eponymous founder planned and succeeded in formalizing the title of "Monarch", as in the "sole ruler of all the Diarcesians".

Unlike the other national leaders designated as "monarchs", the term does not connote the concepts of royalty of divine right at all. That was true even in the Autocratic Era, when all of the monarchs were descended in one way or another from Arcesius. Based on the monarch's judgment, they would pick a preferred heir on death or retirement, but it was up to the heir to solidify his or her power.

The title passed from one generation to the next without fail until Atalanta (nicknamed 'the Downfallen') and her son Menelas. While Atalanta initially held a tight grip in power upon accession, she insisted on keeping personal favorites as advisors. This arrangement alongside her disdain in statecraft contributed to the proliferation of corruption and a series of incompetent policies. The final straw came about with the onset of several simultaneous crises that threatened the stability and integrity of (at that point) the personal union of Diarcesia and neighboring Hylvoria.

During an extended stay in Hylvobrigia, she announced an intent to purge those named as traitors in a proscription list all labeled as "filth". The governors and officials who are not in her favor in the dual capitals of Arcesius and Cyneburg planned separate plots to unseat Atalanta. The conspirators and the palace guards they convinced converged on Hylvobrigia and presented an ultimatum for Atalanta to retire. With even her loyalists unwilling to defend her, she conceded the title of monarch to her 10 year old son Menelas and was placed under house arrest. Menelas was a compromise successor and a figurehead for the Diarcesian and Hylvorian officials to deal with more pressing issues.

Atalanta and her household's activities in the first few years of house arrest were unremarkable. Her accounts described it as years of "a cold existence and being stripped of life". However, further incompetence and indecision in the government under Menelas's rule gave Atalanta an opening she would take advantage of. She escaped her house arrest, gathered an army, and attempted to depose her son. She was already on the gates of Arcesius when Aenerya Tar-Gariën, a popular hypurgess emporic (finance minister), publicly denounced Menelas and managed to rally the soldiers and citizens against the monarch for failing to listen to pleas for economic reform, something Aenerya was tasked to strategize in. Menelas was forced to step down and his die-hard loyalists eventually sentenced to the megas oophus[1].

With Menelas out of the picture and under Tar-Gariën's custody, she had a messenger sent to Atalanta's army to persuade them not to plunge Diarcesia and Hylvoria into civil war for their own and their families' sakes. In this, she succeeded. Aenerya released Menelas to be with his mother and both were placed into permanent exile. Their safety was guaranteed as they were escorted out of the territory. This event concluded the Autocratic Era of the monarchy. Atalanta and Menelas journeyed north until they were killed by bandits in the slopes of the mountain of Ar-Minil (Armenelus) in Odrioya.

Aenerya later wrangled with the nobility of Hylvoria and the bureaucracy of Diarcesia on how both would be governed with a lack of a monarch. Although the personal union between both nations was broken, those who understood how both prospered ever since the union was established prevailed. Their solution was to introduce the concept of 'diereses' (literally 'divisions'). The first would be Arcesia, the Archonate of Arcesius with a distant relative of Atalanta as its leader. The archonates of the Pronotus Peninsula would become Palaeodiarcesia—Old Diarcesia, with one of its seven city's leaders elected to lead the dieresis. Lastly, the Hylvorian Kingdom became its own dieresis while keeping its own government with a new queen selected. Arcesia, as a third nation, was envisioned to be a "common ground" between Palaeodiarcesia and Hylvoria.

As for the office of monarch itself, Aenerya reluctantly took it to become the next monarchess after Menelas. As a not-too-old elf who has seen the Diarcesian-Hylvorian unification firsthand almost 200 years earlier, she promised to retire in 40 years and choose a successor among the three diereses' leaders, collectively called the triarchs. The triarchs as a group will then have to decide on seven individuals of eligible background as a succession pool. And of those seven, they have to choose nine. With this, the succession of the Monarch Diarcesian was formalized, and the Archonate was born. No longer would they hold absolute power, but be the first among twenty nominal equals.

Thus was the birth of New Diarcesia, with Aenerya Tar-Gariën being held next in regard to Arcesius himself as its second founder.

Samantha Davis was crestfallen. Her runs in the women's aerials just did not come together as she had hoped. Perhaps she had expected too much of herself in her first Winter Games.

Her best run in pre-Olympics qualifying scored a 91.54, moving her into the Games along with her teammates Ginger Davies of West Phoenicia and Ana Weinjiziut of North Azarath. But, she fell flat in Olympic qualifier, finishing 36th out of 37 with a best score of 64.79.

She sat on the bleachers, her head in her hands absorbing the impact of it all. In the hustle and bustle of activity, nobody seemed to notice the young athlete.

She felt the bench sag as someone sat next to her. Unfolding her hands and wiping her eye, she glanced over to see a kindly face. It was Father Estêvão Francischini, the North Azarath chaplain. He produced a tissue for her, and smiled.

Samantha let out a shaky chuckle as she accepted the tissue. "I don't know why this hit me like this today," she said, blowing her nose. "I know I'm not on the same level as some of these other girls, but... I was on something of a roll, and wasn't ready for it to stop."

"There's nothing to be ashamed of, my dear," said the old chaplain. "This sort of thing has to happen to us all."

"It's like the death of a dream. I don't know if I'll ever get this chance again," Davis said.

Father Francischini nodded, pursing his lips as he looked at the ground. The air fell silent for a few moments, before he spoke again.

"When I was a young lad, I had dreams, much like yours," he nodded at the skis laying beside her. "I was going to be a champion downhill skier. In fact, I was pretty good at it. Of course, things were a little different then. The sport was much more... amateur, shall I say? I obsessed over it. I worked at it. And then one day, it was taken from me. I had a horrible accident, and that path was all over for me."

He paused for a moment, then continued. "But, I found a new path. I had known it earlier, but had neglected to listen. My misfortune led me to the Church, and my true calling. I believe that if I had not experienced the disappointment that I had, I would not have found the peace, and joy, and fulfillment I have today."

An earnest look on his face, Father Francischini turned slightly toward Samantha. "You may look at today as a great disappointment, but it can also be a motivation for you. Be the best you can be, at whatever you put your hand to, and leave the results up to God. He asks nothing more of you than this. Use this as an opportunity for growth, and examination, and reflection. He has this for you for some purpose. Find out what it is."

Davis sighed, and smiled back at the kindly chaplain. "Thank you. I needed someone to pull me out of that hole of self-pity. Perspective is always helpful."

The two sat in silence for a few minutes, observing the continuing events on the slopes, with athletes and staff coming and going, music playing on the speakers, interspered with announcements.

"Listen, I have to run now, but if you ever need to talk about anything, please know that I'm here for that, as are the other chaplains," Father Francischini said.

Samantha nodded. "Thanks. I appreciate it. Ana Weinjiziut was telling me the other day that I ought to come to a service with her. I think I'll take her up on the next one."

Francischini smiled. "I will look forward to seeing your face among the flock."

The two shook hands, and then parted ways.

Npc West Florida National News Network

John Depenshire:

“The Npc West Florida Winter Olympics Athletes merged with other delegations from the Republic of Conservative Nations region meeting gruelling qualifiers before locking horns with other athletes in Liventia for the 16th Winter Olympics. Has it been all we hoped for?

The team was greeted by a small crowd of Floradians who had made the trip to watch their favorites. However there are many doubts about the outcome, such as how will athletes mostly from the swamp do in winter sports?
And can a country that scored a silver medal during the previous Games do better this time around?

We are fortunate enough to speak with Secretary of Sports Juanita Hartman who is on location supporting our players.

Madam secretary, what is your opinion of the current state of the The Npc West Florida Athletes these Games?

Juanita Hartman:

We did our best. Sometimes our best isn't always going to be good enough. However if you don't try you will never know. A lot of talented athletes are present, I wish everyone could win, but if that was the case no one would excel or try. My fingers are crossed we could still leave with a win.

John Depenshire:

What is your opinion about the mixed curling team of Kitty Saloone and Festus Dillon? We had hopes pinned on them going far at these Games, but they bombed at qualifiers.

Juanita Hartman:

Kitty Saloone and Festus Dillon should be very proud of themselves and their results. During the Games in Kelssek they lost all 6 matches.

They fought past the ridicule and trained smarter and harder. Travelling overseas quite often to practice in cooler climates with better facilities that cater to curling.

They beat the mixed teams of Fluvannia, West Phoenicia, New Waldensia, Attancia, Annixe Christos, North Azarath and The Dodo Republic to qualify for the Republic of Conservative Nations Official delegation. That itself is worthy of praise especially when during those qualifiers Kitty Saloone played with an injury.

John Depenshire:

I will admit come Pre-Olympic qualifiers, I tuned in to all their matches. I had a feeling that maybe…just maybe.

Juanita Hartman:

I think a lot of us did. New Gelderland was a new experience for us. I personally went to attend a few matches and the country is quite delightful. Their hosting was on point, professional and energizing.

We beat Gabrijel Komadina and Marina Horvat of Sjovenia and then Jonas Demizi/Sarah Mahad of Aháà or Zaambate Te Ahaa.
Things looked hopeful, unfortunately the home team and the team from Quebec and Shingoryeo beat up. But 50% in wins is a great achievement, and both losses were by very small margins. Those two need to be applauded for their hard work and improvement.

John Depenshire:

Any other words of encouragement for those Npc West Florida still standing? And will they be back for the next Games?

Juanita Hartman:

No matter what happens, you are winners for getting this far. As far as returning, as long as we can obtain the funding and secure the spots, I would love to see us give the Games another go.
Goodnight for now. I'm heading back to my hotel room for a Class of champagne and to catch up on any re-runs I may have missed out on.

John Depenshire:

Very interesting, and sadly that is all the time we have for today, so goodbye and remember to watch the National News Network, your only source of Floradian news!

Figure Skating Failed to Impress

Schimpol, Liventia - From the start of this edition Winter Olympics, figure skating have been a favorite because of the past success. But it seems that in this edition, their results are still not satisfying. The most favorite event, Women Individual, success to qualified 2 skaters to the main event with Indah Permata Sari as the main figure. But both skaters failed to shine. Indah Permata Sari can only collected 62.34 points in short program. Far from her best point 70.24 which she gained in the qualifying.

These results will become our evaluation to the future. We are understand that the fans might be disappointed with the result. And our hope for medal is only from Ice Dancing.

- Olivia Gunawan
Pemecutan Chief de Mission

Although failing greatly in Women Individual, some surprises happen somewhere else. The underdog, Komang Agus Suparsa success to pass short program when he was not being favorite because of his qualification premise. He even scored a national record for his free skate. Then in Pairs, Septiandi/Karina success to reached top 10 in the final scoreboard, 6th place to be exact which is a surprise for them and for the country.

One thing for sure is our athletes are capable to shines. All we need is for them to practice more and have more competition experience so they can placed themselves in a tournament atmosphere. This will reduce their anxiety and nervousness which can affect their performance.

- Sinta Ramayadi
Pemecutan Women's figure skating coach

The association, FSSAP, still appreciate and proud of the athletes accomplishment. They said that the athletes already give their best so far. At the start, with the run of qualification stage, the association have a big doubt that the athletes will passed. But the athletes have shown that they are capable. What the association can do is to facilitate them more so they can give and scored a better result.

The gold medal is a sweet surprise for us who went to Olympic with only 16 athletes. If we can add more, that's awesome. If we don't then that's okay. We are never this good in winter sports. And our athletes have show us the opposite. They are ready to compete. Although with some errors here and there, but they are all great. The spotlight is now onto the association on how they will accommodate these athletes further.

- Kadek Dwipa Arsana
Sports critic

Rendy Patrajaya and Diah Kusumawardani are the last hope for figure skating to win a medal. Seeing the short program result, can they create a miracle?

THREE MEDAL DAY , GOLD FOR ILKA STERGULC!

ANA FRATRIĆ
Hello and welcome to Olympics Magazine.
Dear viewers, we have new gold medal won in the City Center, but also silver and bronze!
Ilka Stergulc and young Ivana Ferk had a great race today. After winning a medal together, they have both now reached individual medals.
In the final women's individual Gundersen normal hill in 5km, Ilka Stergulc won the gold medal and the young Ivana Ferk, the younger sister of the more famous Suzana Ferk, won the bronze medal.
Ilka Stergulc dominated in the final race. She was convincingly first after ski jumping, second place went to Ivana Ferk. And in cross-country skiing, Ilka Stergulc was even more convincing and Ivana Ferk lost the silver medal to Mira Hegeler of Diarcesia. Stergulc entered in the finish with a high advantage of 2 minutes and 41 seconds ahead of Hegeler.
In the finish, Hegeler managed to overtake our Ivana Ferk and reach the silver medal.

" The medal I won in the team event motivated me a lot. I was ready for a new medal. After ski jumping I knew I had a significant advantage but my strong point is cross-country skiing in which I completely broke the competition. Congratulations to young Ivana on winning a medal. It's great to have two runners in one race and both of them won medals. "said Ilka Stergulc

ALPINE SKIING

Tvrtko Ljutić managed to get his third medal! Ljutić won a silver medal in the slalom race and this is his third in these games. Tamid ben Ebron of Ioudaia led after the first run and our skier made one big error and ended up in gap +3.80!
But in the second run, the slalom slot was arranged differently, which was more suitable for our skier.
Ljutić drove the second run in the time of 50.40, which was also the fastest time of the second run. In front of our skier was only the phenomenal Denis Berdyaev from Waisnor.
After Tamid ben Ebron, who had been leading until then, went down the ski slot and making an error on error, it became clear that Tvrtko Ljutić would win a silver medal.

"I don't know what to say. The first run was bad for me. I made that big mistake at the slalom turning point where many skiers made a mistake and finished the race. Even though I knew there was a trap, I didn't slow down. I just ran into that part too fast in that part of slalom slot that got me off my ideal path. The second run I let go of the ski and drove the slalom on my way, the best way. I'm glad I managed to get the medal despite that big mistake. "said Tvrtko.

BIATHLON—Women's 4x6km relay

A little disappointment was prepared for us by the women's biathlon relay. Namely, our relay team of Nina Mandarić, Ivana Mandarić, Gordana Buškotić and Olga Masterkova failed to defend the gold won in Claycuot. Our girls ended up in only sixth place. Gordana Buškotić missed two targets and Nina Mandarić and Olga Masterkova one each.

BOBSLEIGH—Women's two-woman

A real refreshment was prepared for us by two other sisters, the Mutavdžić sisters. Sanja and Sejla competed in bobsleigh, two-woman and drove the first two races.
They had the best time overall and are currently entering the final two races from the first position.
Our representatives also performed in Clayquot but then we only had one short track where they could train so the result was not some of the best one.

ANOTHER BIG DAY IS AHEAD!

There are three days left until the end of the Olympic Games. For us the most successful in the history of our sport. There are a lot of sports on the program today and our athletes will try to get new medals.
Speaking of medals, at this moment, our country has won 23 medals, which is more than all the medals from previous summer and winter games.

ALPINE SKIING—Women's combined

Zrinka Ljutić and Tatjana Ljubić will try to win a medal in the alpine combination. Zrinka is the national champion in this alpine discipline and she is definitely our biggest candidate. Of course, Tatjana Ljubić also wants to win a medal and wash away bad performances at these games.
Here is how it was in the national championship.

BIATHLON—Men's 15km mass start

Biathlon has brought us a lot of joy at these games as well. Lucijan Matković and Goran Šimičić will perform in today's competition. Both are gold Olympians from these games. We hope that the guys will be successful here as well. Goran Simicic gave us a short statement.

"This is the final of the Olympic Games. Several great biathletes have already been eliminated in the pre-qualifications. The competition is terrifying and extremely strong. I believe in myself in this
race."

Champion Network Interview

"Hello, this is Sophia Laskaridou with Champion Network, and we're having a split-screen interview with both of Ioudaia's Olympic medalists who won today. This is the first time this game that Ioudaia has won two medals in the first day. I'm here in Montrefier, Liventia with Kyra Glezos, and Mihr Utz is in Neverend with Tamid ben Ebron.

"Kyra, with this silver medal, you've now won six Olympic medals, by far the most any Ioudaian athlete has won. How does that feel?"

Kyra plastered on her best interview smile, and tried to look excited. "Wow, it's pretty great! When I started training, I never expected to win so many medals." Deciding she couldn't keep that up for an entire interview, Kyra gave up, and went back to a normal expression. "But I don't compete to win medals, I try to be the best, and led the medals take care of themselves. I'm not quite there yet."

Sophia's eyes widened in surprise. "Oh, wooow, that's such incredible modesty!"

Kyra burst into a huge grin. "No, I'm hardly modest. I think I'll be the best before I retire from competition. But I really don't worry about the medals. Theyr'e just proof that I'm close to being the best."

Sophia struggled for mental traction, but she needed to keep the interview moving: dead air was the death of interviews. "Soooo... Do you want to be the best of all time, or just the best current athlete?"

Cheerfully, Krya chirped, "Both!" After a pause for effect, she added, "But practically, I'd like to be the best living biathlete. That would be enough. But since training has been improving over time and we're getting faster and better, that might make me the all-time best."

"And you don't just compete in the biathlon, you're also on the cross-country skiing team. That's where you won your other medal during these Winter Games."

"Well, I'm just on the cross-country relay team. If you really want the true dual-sport skier, you're missing her." Kyra shouted to somebody off-camera. "Phyllis! You're missing your interview!" She made rapid come-here gestures. Sophia hoped the camera didn't catch her momentary glare at whichever network stats wonk dropped the ball on there being two of them.

The cameraman helpfully pulled out and panned to catch Phyllis running over, then zoomed again, though wide enough for all three women. Bless these forward-facing monitors, Sophia thought.

Sophia did her best to recover. "Phyllis, you're the other double-sport double-medalist? This is just amazing! How did Ioudaia get so lucky to have two of them?"

Phyllis quickly ran her fingers through her hair "Well, there are relays in both biathlon and x/c, and that's how it happened: we're both on same women's relay teams. Two silvers for the two teams."

"Incredible! But I suppose we should let Tamid say something before we get too far into this."

Mercifully, somebody in the studio switched to picture-in-picture for Sophia and the female athletes, letting her mostly relax.

"Right, so I'm Mihr Utz with Tamid ben Ebron. Tamid, you won the other medal Ioudaia won today. Any thoughts?"

"I'm still on the podium. I'm not defending champion any more, but I'll take bronze and the podium over being completely dethroned." He flashed a winning smile; Mihr couldn't help chuckling.

"That's a great attitude! Do you plan on coming back for the next Games?"

"Of course! I have a title to reclaim! I think I've got at least one good run left in me. See, this time, I was in first after the first run, and not much off my gold medal time from the last Games. But the second run... I got a little outside on gates 5 and 8, and that cost me. But that's all on me, so I can correct it. And, I hope, improve it." He ended with another big smile.

"That's the spirit! And this has been Mihr Utz with Tamid ben Ebron, the once and hopefully future slalom king. Sophia, any closing words?"

The view switched back to split-screen, and Sophia was ready for it. "Ladies, anything you'd like to add quickly?"

Phyllis got the jump on Kyra. "Yeah! Kyra's the engine of the relay teams. She always skis first and always skis fast. Without her, we couldn't have done it!"

Kyra blushed: that was unexpected. "Well, thanks... I don't know what to say, but thanks to you... you too for strong anchor legs that bring home victory."

"And this is has been Champion Network's Sophia Laskaridou and Mihr Utz with three of Ioudaia's incredible athletes, all medal-winners today!"
