We've reached a point where we've sent out enough Cup of Harmony invites to fill the field, although we're still waiting on one or two (and it really is only one or two) confirmations. Thanks to everyone for being so quick to confirm.

Provisionally, Wednesday 9 February will be the start date, depending on finalizing the invitations and getting the schedule set up.

Hello folks, there's a detail on my CoH roster that stood out to me and gave me an idea:

Starblaydi All-Time Record:
Played: 1,980

in 20 matches time, it'll be Stablaydia's 2,000th senior international match. A bit like how Kry had the Audioblaydia combined monstrosity team to play in a special friendly match to mark their milestone, I'd like to a match that's a bit more sub-forum-encompassing. Unless, somehow, the CoH and next CAFA Cup combine for more than 20 Matchdays and my team plays all of those games, this landmark number will happen somewhere during World Cup 91 qualifiers. Because 2,000 is a big cool number with lots of zeroes, I'm kicking around the idea of a Stablaydia vs Multiverse XI charity/friendly/testimonial game to be that 2,000th match.

It would be great if anyone who wants to submit a player on the Multiverse side could make it in, so I'm thinking a Soccer Aid-type setup would work with a potentially big squad, rolling subs, etc. I wouldn't want to entirely limit it to current and still-fit ex-footballers, but also don't want to make it the legends of centuries ago appearing out of the mist situation.

It would be great to have IC 'famous' players, any currently-top tier or just-past-it players and athletes who'd sign up for this sort of thing because they'd get publicity and also draw more eyes on the product, even if they're not all footballers and are drawn from the Olympics or Kleptochase or wherever. A selection of managers for each side, celebrities, WorldVision entries, meme politicians, reality tv show contestants or your long-running characters who define your nation and are fit enough to run around a football pitch for a while. Whatever floats your boat that might be fun to include. If nothing else it might help out your WC91 Qualifying RP bonus ;)

With enough interest it probably needs a google doc at some point, but there's plenty of time for that. Any bright ideas to improve this would be appreciated :)

You can have Juan Tzimisces as player or manager; or as player-manager.

He wouldn't normally get involved in this sort of thing, but the link to Simeone di Bradini would seem to make it appropriate (you obviously don't need my permission to have Simeone back for a bit).

Edit: posting with wrong nation, but point holds.

Is this all time characters, including long dead?

If so, Brian Wilson might lace 'em up one last time

I'm hoping to stay grounded in what's at least ICly real - obviously we have immortal characters, revived ones, and those on a more RL timeline who have been around for ages, but resurrections for the sake of one match aren't quite what I had in mind. I've relied on the past for at least the last decade on NS, so making things about the present and/or future would be a good habit to get into:

Thank you to everyone who's expressed interest through TGs, Discord, forums, etc., I'll put up a google doc soon with the signup details and work the team out as we move in to WC91 quals.

Here's the google sheet I promised, by all means add your character(s) to this: Multiverse XI Interest.

Ideally I'd like to be able to take 1 from every NSS player who enters so - unless there's something crazy like 45 of you signing up or something - your first character should definitely make it in.

NOTE: For those interested, the draw for both the Cup of Harmony and World Cup Finals will be taking place today and will likely be held on the NS Sports Discord Channel starting sometime after 1800 UTC.

Oh wow, in 24 hours there's been 58 submissions, which is absolutely amazing/horrifying, considering there's about 40 users to get into one match's worth of some football RPing. Definitely one character per person, perhaps two in some notable exceptions.

What I think I'll end up doing is taking the scorination and kinda prescriptively listing who scored the goals (of which there will ideally be many), so that everyone has the opportunity to RP around those moments, but with 90 minutes of free-frolicking football that's up to everyone to make as fun and silly as they like.

Still plenty of time before this happens (waiting until the start of next cycle, of course) but thank you everyone for contributing ideas and names so far.

I wanted to say that I'm impressed with the addition of RP bonus information in the current Cup of Harmony scores posts. I believe that the information provided is of a good level of detail for people to have a rough gauge on RP bonus without 'peeling back the curtain', so to speak.

I agree. This is good context that I think could be useful for other WCC tournaments as well in the future, especially if presented similar to this. Good call, TLI & MV

Both of us being British, it had not particularly occurred to us that MD3 will be Superb Owl Sunday. The cutoff window is fairly early, 1800-2000 UTC, so several hours before The Big Game™. I'm very reluctant to put the MD back because Monday is Valentine's Day and I (and probably others) will be unavailable, and by delaying another day we start overlapping with the WC, and by delaying even further would have the CoH finish after the WC final, which is not ideal.

So my inclination is to just go ahead with the MD3 cutoff as normal, but I thought I would raise this for feedback in case there's significant pushback.

Sorry for not thinking of this earlier.

IMO nothing happens the day of the "big game" until the evening

Whereby, the next morning folks are more likely to be sluggish and not inclined to RP if they would have been effected to begin with :)

This means we all have to get our RPs in early! Better to get the results early so people won't worry about it mid-Super Bowl.

A small upcoming landmark; MD3 of the World Cup will officially mark a full RL decade since Nephara's signup post.

I never technically specified joining the World Cup. It was the first of multiple OPs I did not fully read on my first week on the subforum. Still, turned out okay in the end. Am I officially 'old guard' yet?

Would the Americans stop for the FA Cup Final? Ridiculous to change it for one event on one nation's calendar.
