Trigram: SRS
Captain: Iuri Takala
Vice Captain: Walda Harkhan
Manager: Anne-Sophie Groothuis Image
Finally, at long last, a Groothuis-led team has qualified for the World Cup. The Black-and-Reds very nearly advanced to the second round out of a difficult group as well. It has been a long road for the Confederacy to make it to this point, but there is no time for resting on laurels, as the ever-businesslike Groothuis is sure to remind her team. Now her attention must turn to the task of repeating last cycle's achievements, and improving on them. Qualification will be the expectation now, not the goal, and the hope for a trip to the second round is on everyone's mind. Groothuis's tactics employ a moderately attacking, but flexible 4-2-3-1, with an emphasis on possession, and fluid, creative attacking movement.
Long Form Name: The Confederacy of Squornshelan Remnant States
Short Form Names: Squornshelan Confederacy, The Confederacy, United Squornshelous
Demonyms: Confederate (political); Squornshelan (cultural, not always PC)
Ethnicites in the Confederacy include Squornshelan, Molvanian, Brantid, Algolian, Sivolvian, and Han. If you are curious about a particular player's ethnicity you can send me a TG or message me on discord
Team Nickname: Black-and-Reds (never Red-and-Blacks)
Team Colors: Confederate Red (#EE0000) and Black (#000000)
Formation: 4-2-3-1

The Story of Late . . .

To say it has been a turbulent few years in Squornshelous would be a massive understatement.

Nearly a century ago, the nation was torn in two by a civil war. Squornshelous proper, located on an eponymous island, remained under the iron hand of the Imperium. The seven provinces had been known as West Squornshelous, some distance across the Far Sea from the seat of Imperial power, gained their independence. Uniting as the Confederacy of Squornshelan Remnant States, they settled into an uneasy standoff with the Imperium looming across the straights. It's uncertain whether the dimensional barrier that later surrounded the island of Squornshelous was the result of some hideous weapon unleashed during the war, or merely some coincidental natural phenomenon. Whatever the root cause, the Confederacy and Imperium sat for the better part of 100 years, glowering mistrustfully through shifting dimensional gateways and across a scant couple hundred miles of water.

Following a series of increasingly visible international incidents surrounding the former Imperial national team, a long smoldering insurgency burst forth into full blown civil war. Thankfully, the tide of opinion both in the generally public and among the Imperial military had turned so overwhelmingly against Emperor Sweyn Petrov and his government that the fighting itself was mercifully brief. The Emperor and his ministers were captured by revolutionary forces, and the loyalist forces capitulated soon thereafter. In the aftermath of the revolution, the dimensional barriers dissolved away, suggesting some link to the country's division. As the proverbial dust cleared, the two sundered nations found themselves once again inhabiting the same plane, coming to rest in the unsubstantiated regions left behind by the disruption of the Foxchester nations abrupt removal from Atlantian Oceania. Now, the various provinces and urban districts of the Imperium have one by one applied for membership in the Confederacy, and while the cogs of government turn at a glacial pace, it now seems inevitable that Squornshelous will once again be a single nation.

This cycle, the entirety of Squornshelous will compete as a united nation for the first time since World Cup 41. While the political processes of admitting the various former Imperial provinces and districts into the Confederacy is a lengthy one, the SCFA has extended a blanket invitation to all players whose province has at least taken the initial step of applying for membership. Accordingly, several players from the former Imperial national team, who also competed at AOCAF LXIV will likely be called up over the course of qualifying. This influx of new players competing for playing time could certainly prove a disruption to team chemistry and cohesion, but hopefully Groothuis can incorporate them well. The boost of depth that they will provide can hopefully lead to a consistent performance through qualifying, and a successful repeat of last cycle's qualification.

It's only been a fistful of moons since that star-crossed night in the Equestrian highlands. The Qasden Association Football Association (QAFA), birthed from the fiery passion of Pandora's box, was silenced by the one divine beast that could stop them: Baker Park. In what many had hoped would be a tournament to rival Sylvia Zimari's previous accomplishments, the AOCAF 64 dream would fizzle in the somber winds of the Round of 16, a game that would ache the organization to near extinction. For Zimari, the end to her career was all but inevitable, with no way out but acceptance. As the hammers of grandiose defeat fell towards her, another would step into her place to take the blows: Prime Minister, Zachary Sedsten. Under his leadership, a nation once invigorated fell even further than when under the reign of Rees Hather, and with an election due any minute, Sedsten's tenure is all but sure to end. So, in the final days of his power, he advocated amnesty for Sylvia under the jurisdictions that she may return the Vans to the one place they haven't been in eons: the World Cup. It was a plea to deaf ears, but Zachary decided to put his own political career up for grabs, stating his intent to resign immediately, should Qasden fail to qualify. With the bargain benefitting his opponents, the mercy was granted by the public; and for Sylvia, it became clear that the amount of pressure bestowed upon her has never been greater, never as palpable as it had been since days of yore when she first took over.

With former national team captain, Icarus Darsten, by her side, Zimari now faces her most daunting challenge yet in the dying breaths of her career: to qualify for the World Cup, or to let Qasden fall into political and athletic turmoil. 9 bands of enemies stray her from her utmost desire of success, and soon, each and every onoe of them will feel her wrath of passion and pressure as the flames of the qualification era begin to erupt. This is the 89th World Cup Qualifiers, and these are the Vans, heroes of Qasden!

Heroes of Qasden
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Image Sylvia Zimari
Age: 42|Position: Manager|Last Known Affiliation: Qasden NT
Diligent, courteous, and determined like hell, Sylvia Zimari had mentally raised herself with one goal: to win glory. From the very moment her eyes first laid on a pitch, she knew that football would be the way that she'd earn her stripes; and she was confident in doing so quick and better than her peers. Despite not being athletically blessed, Zimari proved her talent in management by working with small town clubs and organizations that would soon foster some of the beefier names of Qad football, such as Ryan Xandreas and Macron Abbott. Upon promotion to general manager following the fall of David Bjarnasson, Sylvia had proven worrying naysayers wrong at the 62nd AOCAF tournament, where her newly formed crew took home 2nd place, the highest the nation had ever finished.

Image Icarus Darsten
Age: 38|Position: Assistant Manager|Last Known Affiliation: Qasden NT
The former captain of Qasden, Darsten has been involved with the club from its very conception. As a hard working player whose honor and respectability could shatter diamonds, Icarus wasn't ready to part ways with competition after Sylvia's overhaul of the old team, and was enlisted as an assistant manager in her new administration.

Image 12- Tommy Waluigi
Age: 27|Position: Goal Keeper|Last Known Affiliation: Crossroads Image
Smart, loyal, and a skilled keeper who was vital to Qasden's success in Banija and a main attractor for Chromatika's Crossroads. Despite this, Waluigi's drive has also left him blind to a goal every now and then, and if it weren't for dumb luck, he'd probably still be a substitute.
Substitute Goal Keepers
23- Meghan Maurie-Cane|20|Aissa United Image
00- Cliff Rouge|20
Image 5- Joanna Rigby
Age: 29|Position: Defender|Last Known Affiliation: Qasden NT
Her appearance and bubbly nature would entrance anyone into believing she'd be an easy opponent, but don't let that façade fool you. The second that first whistle is blown, her attitude takes a complete 180, and suddenly those who doubted her are suddenly running for the hills!

Image 7- Alva Simmons
Age: 26|Position: Defender|Last Known Affiliation: Qasden NT
The shortest player on the team, but one hell of a challenger when it comes to defending. Simmons is a divine beast on the field, monstrous in his maneuvering, yet graceful and cunning in the manners he does it. He's also the biggest cat-lover among the Vans, instantly diverting any conversation the second a feline enters the room.

Image 4- Cora Varnham
Age: 28|Position: Defender|Last Known Affiliation: Stahlburg City Image
Skillful, fierce, and a smartass above all, Varnham was brought up from depths unknown and displays tremendous tenacity when it comes to letting opponents past her. She serves as a pivotal player in Zimari's push for a strong defense, though her gastronomy does serve as a strong plus.

Image 2- Rufus Lester
Age: 30|Position: Defender|Last Known Affiliation: Free Agent
A talented and agile defender in his own right, though his main rise to fame was a result of happenstance: having the insignia "DIX" when the new team donned roman numeral kits. Being a funky guy, Lester squabbles among the team's comedians in an effort to assert himself as the rightful king of jokes, even if it means risking an unsavory punchline for a bit.
Substitute Defenders
3- Pace Crawford|34
8- Aristide Quickley|27
9- Mariel Quackerjacks|19
31- Kaitlyn Cecil|22
32- Gregory Nana|20

Image 11- Michelle McCracken (C)
Age: 27|Position: Midfielder|Last Known Affiliation: Qasden NT
By far the most dominant of the NewVans. McCracken was recruited as part of a shortlist of female players drafted by Zimari and Valentijn Munson, the first woman of the National Team. Michelle is professionally competitive, and was quick to assert herself as the commanding individual on the field, gaining Darsten's trust in her taking over as Team Captain. She's easily one of the bigger role model figures on the team, given her ability to mask the difficulty of balancing an intense work-life schedule as something with ease.

Image 15- Osmund Blackbourne
Age: 30|Position: Midfielder|Last Known Affiliation: Free Agent
Easily the most reserved of the starters, Blackbourne is still a fun individual. He's kind-hearted and respectful to all, but terrifying beyond all known realms of reality when being confronted on the pitch. Not much is known of him outside of football and manners, but the man still plays a big part of Zimari's NT.

Image 16- Marco Bruno
Age: 19|Position: Midfielder|Last Known Affiliation: Sporting Ittuributa Image
A callup from the National Academy's affiliate in West Qasden, Bruno is by far the favorite when it comes to who will lead the NT in the future. Confident in his mannerisms just as much as he is with his skills, but should still receive some form of guidance, given a tragic backstory he refuses to elaborate on for "plot reasons".

Image 17- Shug De La Fontaine
Age: 28|Position: Midfielder|Last Known Affiliation: Free Agent
This is the kind of a man that can make one question their own sexuality. An absolute chad on and off the pitch, Shug knows how to score goals as well as he does women. Sure, he can come off as a bit of a douche because of it, but he's as respectful as his mentality can allow most of the time.
Substitute Midfielders
13- Uwu Lekoye|22
14- Paige Homewood|25
38- Rogerette Wellson|21

Image 69- Ike Sexton
Age: 30|Position: Forward|Last Known Affiliation: Qasden NT
Good Marlene, don't be in a room with this man if you don't want to hear the history of anything and everything I can't contractually say. Ike, a staunch advocate for his current number, is a formidable player in his own rights, having become one of the nation's top scorers in a matter of tournaments. If you can really get past his nonchalant attitude towards the risque, he's by far the most interesting of the lot.

Image 20- Jaylyn Bone
Age: 24|Position: Forward|Last Known Affiliation: Qasden NT
Think Ike Sexton, but actually pleasant to be around. Jaylyn was brought about as a prodigy from Chevlin, an eastern city bordering Dogsmouth responsible for the subpar sporting organization, Eastern Athletic. Bone had grown fond of Ike as a friend, and the two occupy each other most of the time, much to the thankfulness of others around them.
Substitute Forwards
21- Willow Harland|29
22- Robby O'Stalingrad|21
42- Lennox Dragoslav|23

The Felinetopian Unified Pawball Team

Image

After a long absence in World Cup play, Felines from the Feline World return to participate in the World Cup qualifiers. The last time the felines were in a World Cup qualifier, they finished in a modest 5th place out of seven teams in their group. However, little historical records can found within the Feline World of the team. All that is known of the team in that era was its dependence on the nation that was then known as Beaverriver(now known as Beaver River). However, the team have a decent amount of experience coming in as the team competed in the 13th Independent Associations Championship in Poafmersia. In the IAC, the team was able to build momentum from the first stage to fly through the group stage and finished in 3rd place, the best finish a Feline team has ever done in multiversal competition. Seeking to capture the form from the IAC, Maverick O' Malley has decided to send the roster from the third place finishers to send the Felines to their first World Cup proper. However, returning to international play bounds to be tough and it's unlikely that an unranked Felinetopia will advance to the World Cup proper in the first go around. However, it's not impossible.

Stadium
Sonic Stadium, Kampawla, Cheetah Republic (Capacity 62,300)
Located in the capital of the Cheetah Republic, Sonic Stadium has emerged as the host for multiversal events in Felinetopia given the seating is made for Cheetahs who are the closest in size to a human in Felinetopia. Sonic Stadium is home to Super League Side Velocity and numerous Cheetah national team games as well as played host to the 7th FFI League of Victors. Kampawla itself is located in the savanna hills of Kalafuri and is considered an emerging culinary destination with a rich meat tradition with many cats experimenting with vegetables. The Cheetah government advises visitors to hydrate often and to not the cats you find in Felinetopia as a harsh 20 year jail sentence meets anyone who attempts kitnapping.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM - MEN'S

Quite how Ranulph Bustamante is still at the helm of this Abanhfleft team is very much a mystery, one that has given rise to a good number of theories, each one more unlikely than the one before. Now a clear line has been drawn in the sand: get to the World Cup proper and don't finish last in the group stage, or it's the sack.

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation: Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft
Demonym: Fleftic
Team colors: Blue, orange, and green
Style modifier: +3
Formation: 4-3-3
Head coach: Ranulph Bustamante (62 y/o, Abanhfleft)

STARTERS
GK: Guildenstern CARDEW 28 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image, co-captain
Under Vaughn Palladino, Guildenstern Cardew has turned into the clear number one choice between the sticks for Sporting Ceneisis. He may not be the player who shipped the least goals in the Premier League this season but he stopped enough shots to help the Blues to their fourth FPL title. Now it's time for Guildy to do the same for the national team.

RB: Melisizwe AFOLAYAN 36 y/o, Locomotive Imgortur Image
Let's be honest, Afolayan was never going to be flashy or the player a team builds itself around. He's solid and dependable down on the right side, a far cry from when he used to be a marauding wingback wannabe and a walking card magnet. But that's what experience and maturity does to a person. He already has a Fleftic Premier League title under his belt, but now he dreams of one more crack at the World Cup itself before he hangs up his boots from international football.

RCB: APOLLOSCLEIYALI 31 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Image
Though he was brought into the Rosenpfelblatz City setup at the relatively young age of 16, Apolloscleiyali Rarlingson Crausileine still plays with that curious mix of Daineri and Sunrisian street football. The Citizens may not have been consistent challengers for the title ever since Abanhfleft integrated into UICA and now IFCF, Apolloscleiyali remains one of the constants of this team, almost never putting a foot wrong. Because of this he was given Fleftic citizenship via the Alternative Football Program as a candidate for the Fleftic national team, but this is only the first time Apollo will actually represent the Revolutionaries, strangely enough.

LCB: Paco MATUNDAN 28 y/o, Xemlice Rovers Image
Paco Matundan must have thought his footballing career was over when he was released by Malabon SC following the Ravens' shock relegation from the FPL at the end of the 2025-26 season. Luckily a club from Greythrone called Air Force Superstar decided to take a chance on him, but sadly the club did little of note other than gaining promotion once before Greythrone itself collapsed into anarchy. Paco was only saved from falling into obscurity by a timely move to Xemlice Rovers where he has now settled down and made a name for himself, even if it is choking on title races.

LB: Caleb WAYNE 31 y/o, Wanda Island Wanderers Image
Another one of the generation of Fleftic defenders who also liked bombing up and down the wings who discovered that sticking to defending was actually what he does best. It was as a full-on left back that Caleb Wayne became instrumental in the Wanda Island Wanderers side that won the Fleftic Premier League in 2027-28, and is now one of the first names written down on Artemio Peres' starting eleven. Caleb also became the starting left back for Abanhfleft after Daisuke Ogigayatsu started putting in more time down the right side for Ludogorets Markovsky.

RM: Andor GAÁL 31 y/o, Malabon SC Image
Andor was one of those who stuck with Malabon after they were relegated and helped them get back up into the FPL after only one season in Unang Liga, but so far his only reward has been getting to play in the Challengers' Cup. Formation changes and new managers have turned him from a defensive midfielder to a right-sided one. He's still very much a box-to-box midfielder, but this does tend to leave his team a little short-changed in the middle of the park. He also became a dead-ball specialist during his time in the Fleftic second tier.

CM: DeAngelo LEVIN 35 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Image
Football tactics and formations in Abanhfleft don't use out-and-out central midfielders a lot at the moment, meaning Levin is often classified as a right midfielder for Ludogorets Markovsky, but in his heart of hearts he is still very much the spider sitting in the center of the web, er, pitch. After being in and out of the national team setup for a few years he appears to have finally nailed down a starting spot in quite possibly his final World Cup campaign as well.

LM: James CARMICHAEL 28 y/o, Xemlice Rovers Image
James Carmichael is a Xemlice Rovers youth product who rose to significance after he stood in for Fabrosu Nyema during the 2028-29 season after the latter was injured. James does a little bit of everything here and there such as breaking up attacks in the middle of the pitch and pinging in those diagonal passes. He's usually well disciplined, but when he goes in for a tackle, boy does he go in for a tackle.

RW: Marcus TABAREZ 28 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Image
Without a doubt the most expensive Fleftic player of all time. Marcus Tabarez cost Arsenal de Releinthi a whopping 120 million new penenks (80 million NSD) just to get him from Xemlice Rovers. The start of Marcus' Gunners career was not the best, coinciding with one of the worst seasons in the club's history, but slowly Tabarez is starting to justify his hefty price tag. Last season may not have been the best for Arsenal as a club, but it was a good one for Tabarez, chipping in 20 goals and 13 assists. Ranulph Bustamante now hopes that Marcus can do the same for the national team.

CF: Kareem DAGEN 33 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Image, captain
Kareem Dagen is still a goalscoring machine. Of that there is no doubt. But what is in doubt is how much of his goalscoring form he will be able to keep going now that his main provider in Max Fetfatzidis has hung up his boots permanently. No doubt that Kareem's supporting cast this time around is still as impressive as before, but whether they'll be able to live up to Max's insane consistency is another thing altogether.

LW: Arthur MacALISTAIR 31 y/o, Wanda Island Wanderers Image
Arthur finally completed the transition from midfielder to winger under Artemio Peres, and people are already saying it's the best move Arthur's ever done in his whole football career. Of course it helps that his first full season as a winger was also the season that Wanda Island Wanderers finally won the Fleftic Premier League. But MacAlistair's starting spot in the national team may no longer be as secure as before now that there's a new contender for the spot in the form of Riuwiee United's Elmo Bevan.

RESERVES
GK: Orestes KATSOURANIS III 34 y/o, Riuwiee United Image
Orestes the Third finally returns to the Fleftic national team after an 11-year absence. In the between his last appearance for the Revolutionaries and today, Orestes has gone to Riuwiee United from Marinos Thimpodopoulos, but only now has he managed to stake his claim for the number 1 shirt in the capital ciub, which is also probably the reason why he was only called up now as well.

GK: Carlos COHEN 39 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image
Not only has Guildy Cardew managed to displace Carlos Cohen from between the sticks in Sporting Ceneisis, the absolute madman has done it in the national team as well! But there's a reason for it. Clearly Cardew is the future of Fleftic goalkeeping, while Cohen is sadly in the past. Carlos may still be in his prime as a goalkeeper but Cardew has the higher ceiling, and clearly that is what Ranulph Bustamante is basing his selection on.

RB: Masakazu CHIBA 25 y/o, Riuwiee United Image
Masakazu Chiba is one of an ever-growing number of football players in the Democratic Republic who trace their lineage back to the Japanese nations such as Flardania and, in Masakazu's case, Aji No Moto. Although he was never capped for any of Abanhfleft's youth teams, Ranulph Bustamante is apparently convinced that Masakazu will be able to handle being a bench option for the senior national team for the current World Cup qualifiers.

RCB: Ram WALIA 31 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image
Who would have thought that little Ram Walia from Hithamandhoo in the Trendstart Colony would become the first man from his island to win the Fleftic Premier League? Certainly not Ram himself. From humble beginnings at AFC Hithamandhoo, Ram made his way into the youth academy of Sporting Ceneisis, where it looked like he was going to go the way of the rest of the Blues' infamous "loan army" until he showed what he was capable of as first a substitute for Naftali Singerstein, and then later on as the Fhulghamousian international's replacement. There's a reason why Ceneisis finally won their fourth title this season, and one of those reasons is Ram Walia.

LCB: Kenneth OWOBOWALE 34 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Image
Another former national player brought back into the fold after a decade or so in the wilderness. Left-sided center backs seem to be a particular weakness of the Revolutionaries at the moment, and while there's a decent crop of those rising up the ranks of Fleftic clubs, at the moment Ranulph Bustamante apparently believes that Kenneth is the best out of this bunch.

LB: Vipin NAGARKAR 31 y/o, Admiral Porcusces Image
Vipin Nagarkar wasn't that well-known outside of Admiral fans when they were relegated at the end of the 2028-29 season. He could have gone to any other team that he so chose, but he decided to stick it out with the Foxes in their campaign to get back into the top flight. He did just that, and he cemented his place in the side after solid and impressive performances at left back, and then VIpin sealed his place in the history of Admiral Porcusces by scoring the 78th minute goal that won the Foxes the 2031 SFA Cup Final. Safe to say that this is a call-up two years in the making.

RM: Max PIERCE 33 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz North End Image
Another area of the pitch where Abanhfleft are currently a bit thin is at right midfielder, and after much deliberation Ranulph Bustamante decided to put Max Pierce in as Andor Gaal's backup. There's nothing to separate the two aside from the fact that Pierce is slower and has the defensive subtlety of a nuclear bomb. But apparently Max is the best of the rest of Abanhfleft's right midfielders. This is going to end so well for the country.

CM: Toumain VINCELOT 36 y/o, Sarvusdalamoive Image
Whoever said that Toumain Vincelot was apolitical must not have a twii.tur account or any access to social media at all. The combative Sarvus midfielder has become one of the loudest critics of Fleftic President Matthias Green, claiming on an almost daily basis that Green would turn Abanhfleft into a "fascist superstate" even worse than the isolationist Empire of Greater Anglatia. Any other manager would have steered clear of Vincelot, but Ranulph Bustamante knows that Toumain can separate his politics from his football and remain rock-solid in the middle of Abanhfleft's midfield.

LM: Trevor IÑIGUEZ 31 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Image
The backup left midfielder was actually a tough choice to make for Ranulph Bustamante because there were two players who could very well have fitted into that spot on the national team: Travis Sevilla and Trevor Iñiguez. Both of them were gifted technical players with bags of skills with an eye for finding teammates in the final third. In the end, Bustamante opted to go with Iñiguez because the Fleftic Air Force didn't want Sevilla outside of the country in the event of an attack on the Democratic Republic.

RW: Palmer HICKS 23 y/o, Electric Yugal Image on loan from Locomotive Imgortur Image
In a team where the system doesn't have much use for a winger, how is one such right winger in one such team supposed to get game time? On loan to another club, of course! Palmer is entering the second year of a two-year loan deal to newly promoted Electric Yugal with an option to buy for the Bolts. He did well for Electric during their promotion campaign in Unang Liga, but can he do the same in the Premier League? Ranulph Bustamante believes Palmer can do it with the national team, so there's that.

ST: Mustafa BENSOUSSAN 26 y/o, Bananas FC Image
Bananas may have been relegated from the Premier League, but if that's not making Mustafa turn his head then nothing probably will. The young man is dedicated to the cause of bringing Bananas right back up, but unlike some of the other sides to have been relegated from the league in previous seasons, Bananas don't look like they would be able to do it as quickly. Nevertheless, Mustafa is still scoring goals for fun, and he will be more than a capable backup for Kareem Dagen in these qualifiers.

LW: Elmo BEVAN 30 y/o, Riuwiee United Image
Like many a youth before him, Elmo Bevan didn't really know where he wanted to go, what he wanted to do. He played in the middle of the park. He played as a forward. He played in the wings. And it was there on the left that Elmo finally found his calling, the place where he could put all of his talents on display. After helping Airbus Fhulghamous Besanza to another Fhulghamousian Premier League title, Riuwiee United activated his buyback clause, and the son of Owen Bevan has been doing a great job in the capital. Not good enough to break into the starting eleven of the national team, but a great job nonetheless.

STADIUMS
All football stadiums in Abanhfleft now have seats following a mandatory upgrade in 2000, but despite this ruling, many, if not all, stadiums still allow standing spectators during matches. However, in anticipation for World Cup qualifying matches, more security forces had been hired by the authorities to make sure that there are no standing spectators

After the conclusion of the Catholic Revolution of 2008, the national government bought the controlling share of Riuwiee National Stadium and renamed it the May 26 Revolution Memorial Stadium, in commemoration of the May 26 Revolution that eventually established the nation of Abanhfleft. Overview

Eraman, officially the Kingdom of Eraman, is an island country in the Melayu Archipelago. The federal constitutional monarchy consists of seven kingdoms and two states. Eraman is ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse. About half of the population is ethnically Malay, with large minorities of Girian, Mandaran, and Palmyran. Malay and English are recognized as the official languages of Eraman. The economy is mainly fuelled by its natural resources but is expanding in the sectors of commerce, manufacturing, and tourism.

Football is considered the number one sport in the country. The local clubs and the national team are followed religiously by the citizens. Eraman currently sits at 85th in the KPB ranking.

Staffs & Tactics

Head Coach: Ross Hearkener (Brenecia)

Ross Hearkener is the head coach of the Eraman national football team. He is the former player and head coach of Royal Puncakpura. Under his guidance, Royal Puncakpura managed to break the domination of Royal Daulapura and Anara in Liga Eraman. Ross Hearkener managed to lift the Liga Eraman trophy 2 seasons ago.

His appointment as the national team head coach over a year ago caused a stir among the Royal Puncakpura fans. Royal Puncakpura was top of the league last season when the president of ERAFA who is also the owner of Royal Daulapura appointed Ross Hearkener as the national team head coach. Royal Puncakpura fans saw this as an attempt to weaken Royal Puncakpura. Royal Daulapura went on to win Liga Eraman last season.

Ross Hearkerner led Eraman to their most successful run in the recent 80th Cup of Harmony by reaching the quarter-final. Eraman has previously never managed to get through to the knockout stage.

Style Modifier : 2
Formation : 4-2-3-1

Ross Hearkener prefers his team to play with an attacking mindset and high pressing intensity. He prefers to utilize an attacking midfielder as the playmaker and the focal point of the build-up. He prefers to employ two ball-playing defenders who are comfortable on the ball as his main center-back partnership accompanied by two attacking full-backs. The space left behind by the attacking full-backs will be covered by a deep-lying playmaker who will drop as low as going on the same line with the center-back pairing to cover for the attacking full-backs as well as to start the attack. With the full-backs pushed forward, Ross Hearkener prefered his wingers to push inside and create trouble from inside the penalty box.

Captain: Makana Tuft
Vice-Captain: Joel Haodao
Penalty Taker: Joel Haodao (1st), Makana Tuft (2nd)
Free Kick Taker: Monesty Erdos, Aleka Dufour
Corner Takers: The prevailing LB/RB (in the case of a 4-3-3) or LM/RM (in the case of a 3-4-3)

Head Coach: Adnan Suliaha, 58
Assistant Head Coach: Katiri Hedge, 64
General Playing Style: Being a nation which emphasises on fast paced attacking football, Poafmersia would prefer to attack rather then defend. The players can be quite aggressive in getting back the ball, yet they do not keep high amounts of possession and they are very good at making use of mistakes by the opposition team to punish the opponents. Although this team has a weakness in defending set pieces, they are more fond of scoring through set pieces. Another way of scoring is often pressuring opponents through high defensive lines. This team, however, is likely to push forward even more attack, going even further to try to score more goals. The more goals, the better.

Formations: 3-4-3, 4-3-3

Fans
Poafmersian fans are crazy about football, and their loud cheers ring about in the stadiums they visit. They are very willing to disturb the peace in the area to celebrate their win after matches, so matches are best held in the afternoon or early evenings. You can spot Poafmers booking large meeting rooms in hotels, going to bars in groups. Apart from that, they do pick up after themselves, and prevent causing much trouble apart from celebrating. You can be assured, however, that they would be travelling around to support their team, so do reserve half the spots in stadiums for them because they would pack it to the brim.

Home Stadium
For the entire duration of the qualifiers, Poafmersia will be playing their home games at the Libira National Stadium. To accommodate a rising interest in football, there was a slight layout change and stand refurbishment being done prior to the qualifiers, and as such, the stadium capacity has been increased to 70 thousand seated pax. The stadium is located in Fiskadaha City, capital of Poafmersia. To travel to the city, direct flights are provided from many major capital cities around the world. Within Poafmersia, however, public transport, such as trains and buses, are the preferred mode of transport, and there are rail lines available between Fiskadaha and many major cities in the country.

Savojar Roster Pool for WCQ 89

TEAM

STAFF
Coach: Daniella Strauss (NPH)
Age: 56 // Coach since: WCQ 88 (MD 8)
After the Copa 37 had revealed stagnation on the regional level, and Rangren had been approached by her old friend and co-coach Lise Asbeck to take the helm at the Savojar top club Libertas Bergheim, she had resigned as Northlights head coach. Being left without a national coach, the SFFB has hired former Nephara manager Daniella Strauss in a competitive bidding process, making her the first foreign Savojarna manager in history. Strauss turned a terrible Corvette side into a credible Premiership outfit for a time, and started to revitalise Southfell United before the Cormorants came calling. Unusually for Nepharim, she likes to keep ahold of the ball, but likes to play quick, aggressive football, with a high line choking the opposition. Probably the most successful Nepharan manager, by most measures; hired to the Northlights until the end of World Cup cycle 89 as part of the “WC90” project, aiming to make the World Cup knockouts by cycle 90.

Coaching Team: Alexey Jotanov, Mikael Södergren, Lasse Tjoer
Ages: 53, 40, 43 // Special functions: Video coach, Technical coach, Physical trainer
Jotanov is a rather creative tactical mind and one half of the U-21 co-coaching team. He has been brought on board as part of the WC90 project to create a more unified approach across the three Savojar national teams (adult, U21, U18). He will be here mainly to support with video trainings and tactics briefings.
Mikael Södergren has a history of a technical assistant coach at various SFS A teams, including the surprising Rotor Värstjö side of SFS Season 8 and being on the staff of the double-winning Partisan side of SFS Season 10. His job is to run day to day practice and give technical advice to players; besides his work with the national team, he currently is a trainer at the National Football Academy at Högvald, where he coaches and develops Savojarna’s biggest youth talents.
Lasse Tjoer is the physical coach and condition trainer, and has previously worked for multiple SFS A teams. He places a lot of emphasis on discipline, but gives the players a large amount of freedom to tune their practice regime to their own tastes as long as they stick to the targets. He is quite popular in the team, and a good motivator.

Goalkeeper Coach: Valtteri Andersson
Age: 52
Andersson was a long-term goalkeeper for Energie Thorsborg and got directly transferred into the club's youth department when he retired at age 33. Following some good work with the club's youth department, he got trained as a GK coach and worked with the first team and the U21 of Energie for a while before being brought onto the squad of the NT early on. He still works with Energie on the side and is reputed to be very good at developing a goalkeeper's weaknesses.

Doctor: Dr. Christer Ljungberg
Age: 58
Christer is the head of the medical team of the Savojar NT and generally has a reputation of being the team’s good soul. Many players have come to him over the years to discuss their insecurities or physical problems, to the point that many consider Ljungberg to essentially be a second mental coach.

Head Coach and Playing Style
Owain Davies, 48, is from Tikariot. Formerly with Dhun Lagarr FC, he was able to bring the team to a 7th position in the TPL. He is a more of a defence-first manager, pushing really hard for a 4-4-2 formation with the squad, and suits the general style of football played in the country.

Style Modifier: -2.345
Formation: 4-4-2

I give my opponents permission to do the following for their RPs:
- Choose my starting lineup, goalscorers, substitutes. This must be done in reference to the details provided in pre-match RPs/main roster, such as the 11 starters listed above, and the players' styles.
- Godmod any scoring events, subject to these events being realistic. (Eg. Long range balls from midpoint line/goalkeeper line is allowed, RPing a fast ball boy that allowed for the corner to take place amid chaos is allowed, but something like having a pigeon swoop down from the sky to push a ball in is not allowed. Go through with me what you plan and I may easily accept it.)
- RP or Godmod injuries to my players. These injuries can occur inside or outside the match, however, you only RP what happened. (Do TG me so that I will take notice, especially for godmodded ones.) The extent of injuries, as well as the duration of the player being out, is decided by me.
- Hand out yellow and red cards to my players. However, the number of red cards can only be 1 more than the number of red cards you give your own players.
- RP or Godmod any other events, with the exception of any pandemic-related events. No pandemic in my nation, no pandemic on my players. Do TG me if you wish to let me know of any other events you plan to RP, and I am willing to cooperate if necessary.

DELACLAVA NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM
QUALIFICATION FOR THE EIGHTY-NINTH WORLD CUP

Gold medalists, Games of the V Olympiad.
Six-time WC qualifiers (51-56). QF at WC51.
Champions of 2nd Wonder Cup, Moon Bracket.
Hosts of WC55, CoH 44 and 46, BoF 72, AOCAF 31.
Current world ranking: Please don't ask
All time peak world ranking: 11th (post WC-53 qualifying).

Trigram: DEL | Nickname: Phoenixes | Style Modifier: +3

RP permissions: Yes, but be respectful and TG/DM if you're not sure or have ideas.

Overview

Tactically, the Phoenixes are heavily offensive-minded, utilising a 3-5-2 and relying on individual skill in the middle and up front. Goalkeepers and defenders are perfectly capable, but they're going to have to be ready to make plays and bail out failed attacks. There is a bias towards action and chance instead of possession, and an inclination towards taking defensive risks to generate counterattack opportunities. Additionally, it is expected that the midfielders will be fully active on both ends of the field, employing manpower to have advantages in both the offensive and defense zones rather than relying on positioning. Manager Johannes Detmer will frequently make substitutions at midfield, even as early as the start of the second half, to give both the starters and substitutes an opportunity to work at a higher rate for a shorter period of time.

This team will engage in the psychological warfare of the game, if only because it's one of the best advantages they've got. They will not play dirty or recklessly, but they will make the game chippy, say things to get in their opponents' heads. But it's just for the contest itself; after the game - win, lose, or draw - all of that is done, and the Phoenixes will show respect at the final whistle. Despite their experience, this team will suffer from the lack of continuity in international play. There is a tendency for the players to start stronger than they finish, often looking to simply hold on at the end of games.

Full Roster

Manager: Johannes Detmer, 79, Catherina FC
Assistant Manager: Tyler Tracy, 52
Technical Director: Joe Jamin, 47
Strength & Conditioning Coach: Michalela Mikkel, 29
Goalkeeper Coach: Donat Soler, 25 - Much like George Ross' role at the AOCAF championships, Soler will join the goalkeeping crew and work with his teammates to put the best product on the field. He doesn't quite have the health to suit up himself, but the Southfell United keeper is certainly an option down the road.

Notes:
  • As stated above, Detmer will frequently expect midfielders to work their hardest for 45 minutes, then be substituted for someone else. Romeijn and Martin are more likely to go for the full 90 minutes, and Detmer will always hold on to one or two substitutions if another replacement is needed elsewhere.
  • Ingram is most likely to take corner kicks, although it doesn't really matter since this team is not particularly tall and represents less of an aerial threat than years past. If Delaclava trails and needs goals in the later stages, Meñica will take corners instead.
  • Lindblad will be the one to take free kicks if there is a direct scoring opportunity; Meñica for longer range and placement; Meñica or Ingram if looking for a volley/header in the box.
  • For penalties, use the first player on this list who is still in the game: Ingram, Meyer, Lindblad, Romeijn.

Empress Masumi Stadium at night

The Kandorese team is looking to play a more aggressive football and rely a lot on quick, successive passes and counters. But, when in doubt the team will hold back to eventually mount a mass assault from the midfield positions. The midfield and attack are the engine of the team; this is where the most important and strongest players control the entire play. The strikers for Kandorith are something different, the team has no traditional style strikers but rather extremely fast and pacey runners; who will take their opportunity to run at the goal at any chance they get; while the midfield will close down the area behind them to ensure the team's dominance on the opponent's half.

The midfield is not only the engine behind the team, but also very capable at scoring goals. The forward three players are two wingers and a central forward who mostly plays the role of a false-9 rather than the traditional striker position, who are supported by a capable and pacey midfielders who all have a talent for finishing. In defence the Kandorese team is cautious and pressure absorbing. The entire team will do their very best to tire out opponents and strike when they are off-balanced with quick and long passes the Kandorese defence can switch to a full-out offence and get the ball in the opponent's half within a few effective passes. The Kandorese team has no real set position but plays an adaptive 4-3-3, which can transform to a 5-3-2 with ease or even a full defense because of the midfield and attack being capable of joining the defence when needed. In a full out attack however, the Kandorese team will have the defence joining the attack with only three players staying behind to cover the back or sometimes one man to mount a complete assault on the opponent's goal.

The Kandorese play a very high defensive line with off-side traps and looking to pressure the opponent when they have the ball constantly. When defending, passing one Kandorese player will lead to another player taking over their position, even if they are a midfield player. In the end the team is playing a "total football" style of play. Every player in the team can essentially walk on any position and do any task but others are naturally better in certain positions. The field is a fluent team effort which never gives up, not even after they have gone behind beyond 0 - 1.

Currently the team is a high-spirited and very high-morale young team looking to prove themselves on the field.

The home stadium for the Kandorese National Team is the Empress Masumi National Stadium, named after the current Empress in honour of her coronation. The rather new stadium is designed as a multi-purpose sports complex with the possibility of completely changing the venue's layout for almost any sport. When the stadium is not used for sports the large complex is used to host concerts, large events and even traditional markets. The Stadium is the home of the Kandorese first division team FC Tenkyo who are one of the "big four" teams of the nation. With a total capacity during football matches of 90,000 attendants the stadium is a symbol for a new era of the Kandorese nation and its people.

Nation Name: The Galactic Empire of Kohnhead
Shorter Name: Kohnhead
Nation Trigramme: KND
Record: 70-28-47 (W-D-L)
WCC Record: 49-21-35 (W-D-L)
Inaugural Match: Kohnhead 2 - 2 Riena
Biggest Win: Kohnhead 5 - 0 Al Qurija
Biggest Loss: Kohnhead 0 - 4 Eura
Achievements: First Place at the 2nd Wonder Cup, Round of 16 at the 72nd Baptism of Fire, 5th place in group 2 of WC85 qualfiers, Round of 16 at the 77th Cup of Harmony, Round of 16 at the 10th IAC, Round of 32 at the 78th Cup of Harmony, Round of 24 at the 11th IAC, 4th place in group 10 of WC87 qualifiers, Round of 32 at the 79th Cup of Harmony, 3rd place in Group 11 of WC88 Qualifiers
Top Scorer: Aaron Korkson (64)
Most Assists: Linus Rallyton (43)
Most Caps: Nicholas Radison (143)

Team Info: The Brains surpassed all expectations and turned many heads at their original attempt at qualifying as we came in 5th of our group but that doesn't tell the whole story. We were in it until the second to last match where Drawkland eliminated us by winning 5-4. Our second attempt at qualifying went extremely poorly leading to Christopher Kohnhead getting the axe and Michael White out of South Newlandia coming in. The Michael White era has started off pretty well for Kohnhead with good results at the Twicetagria Football Invitational, however subpar results at the 11th IAC had many wondering if we could truly mount a challenge in qualifiers. With a new formation, a new mindset, and some new players we came in 4th of the Group and even managed to win the UWC belt to carry it into the Cup of Harmony where we finished 2nd in our group before suffereing a humiliating 5-1 loss to Mercedini in the Round of 32 once again. Unfortunately a poor run in the IAC with the top team competing saw us exit in the Group Stage and changes were made afterwards that bring in new players and give Harry Richman and Rodriguez Sporet their International Retirements. Kohnhead were in a top two position for virtually all of the World Cup 88 Qualifiers and had a chance to win the Group or get an automatic top six second place spot. However 0 points from our last three games saw us literally lose out on a playoff spot by a point to Tikariot. Sure the team performed quite well especially the defense and Michael White gets all credit for that but we choked... hard, and he heard it from our supporters. White followed this up by leading us to a single point in the Cup of Harmony failing to lead us past the Group Stage for the first time and now the pressure is mounting for the former South Newlandian assistant.

The official roster of the KNFT consists of the following players for the 89th WC. It has players from the KFA (Kohnhead Football Association), as well as some who play on teams abroad.

Starting XI
(C) Right Forward: Aaron Korkson #91 (M) Age: 27 Team: Kohnhead City FC
Caps: 131 Goals: 64 Assists: 28
The 26 year old captain played very well at the Baptism of Fire before their loss in the round of 16. He also was one of the main reasons they were able to do so well in the World Cup 85 qualifiers. He's a strong leader and is able to score goals pretty easily. He and Maltos are the stars on Kohnhead City FC and on national team. He will be entering his prime soon and leads the squad in goals by a pretty large amount. Korkson followed an awful campaign in WC 86 Qualifying with his best in WC 87 Qualifying leading the team in goals and showing why he's considered the top striker. An injury in the 12th IAC hurt his stock but he recovered in time to resume his domestic duties and showed in the two preceding friendlies that he's fully healthy. This proved to not really be true as when healthy he dominated but he had a very injury riddled campaign with the National Team and had he been fully healthy the entire time we probably would have qualified.

Left Forward: Erin Maltos #10 (F) Age: 27 Team: Kohnhead City FC
Caps: 138 Goals: 50 Assists: 29
Erin Maltos is very good. While Korkson may have more goals, the impact she has on the game when she's plays cannot be understated and although there are times and there are some games where she may disappear into the shadow of other stars, she has the best footwork on the team and a deadly shot. She like Korkson will be reaching her prime soon and it will be good to see, Maltos like Korkson had a bounce back campaign last cycle which was huge and of the strikers on the National Team she has had the most success domestically even if here she takes a 1B role. Maltos really came on with Korkson's injury problems and while she couldn't take us up the mountain she almost nearly did.

Right Midfielder: Suzanna Barter #60 (F) Age: 22 Team: Olympique de Rimouski (Quebec and Shingoryeo)
Caps: 38 Goals: 4 Assists: 4
Suzanna really emerged in season 1 of the the KFA Premier League on a surprise Real Dawson squad that made the Challengers Cup and a few seasons later completed a massive transfer for 4.75 million to Kingston FC in Quebec and Shingoryeo. Despite a rocky start in year one she was amazing in their second season helping them finish 9th in the Q-League and earning herself a move to second place on tiebreakers for 6.0 million surpassing Linus Rallyton to become the most expensive Kohnheadian player at only 21. Barter has played herself into a starting role ahead of Al Torgan and she performed really well during Qualifying to show that she deserves this spot.

Central Midfielder: Sophie Johnson #7 (F) Age: 22 Team: Kohnhead City FC
Caps: 67 Goals: 7 Assists: 12
While Sophie Johnson was buried on the depth chart at the Cup of Harmony 78 a great run of form in the KFA Premier League scoring five goals for second place Kohnhead City FC as well as Michael White's approval during training earned her this spot away from Audrey Henderson. It was bold move however especially given the talent at the position but Johnson more than justified her starting spot during the cycle and she fit right in for the offense. Her starting spot isn't going anywhere and she's just another example of why this team can be so good in the future and she showed a lot of her upside during Qualifying.

Central Midfielder: Linus Rallyton #11 (M) Age: 29 Team: FC Yassaca (Squornshelean Remnant States)
Caps: 137 Goals: 24 Assists: 43
It didn't take long for Linus Rallyton to show that he was the best player in Kohnhead and it happened during our Baptism of Fire as he looked dominant. He is our all time leader in assists with 43 and he controls the game from the center of the field as that guy. Last offseason he completed a massive move to FC Yassaca in the Squornshelan Remnant States and they finished in second place after failing to get a victory in their final match which would have sealed it. Despite this it was a great season being named the second best signing, the fourth best midfielder, and the fourth best foreign player. He followed it up by being named to the Team of the Season in his second campaign although Yasacca only qualified for the Challengers Cup and has now been named team captain. Internationally he has been brilliant and leads the team in assists a mark that no one is anywhere close to. Heading into his third season at Yasacca the time was right for a breakthrough and as the newly named captain he led them to the title and was named midfielder of the season an award that had evaded him for two seasons once again making the Team of the Year obviously. Then something even more amazing happend as he captained the IFCF Challengers Cup Champions with Yassaca going on a great run in the ensuing Domestic season while once again winning the league and midfielder of the year, and the only Kohnheadian to make the Galacticos Longlist continues to show his talent and worth.

Left Midfielder: Charles Laker #54 (M) Age: 24 Team: Barnley FC
Caps: 139 Goals: 30 Assists: 21
In the years since our Baptism of Fire we have seen the emergence of Charles Laker on the left side of this midfield. His talent, skills, and maturity level have grown exponentially and he will keep getting better in the years ahead. Laker has slowly been ascending to stardom as one could say and we will get to witness him continue to grow. While Rallyton is still the star of the midfield Laker paired with him gives us a deadly midfield and his speed is an essential part of his game.

Right Back: Taylor Rodar #15 (F) Age: 24 Team: New Capetown Falcons (Taeshan)
Caps: 65 Goals: 2 Assists: 4
Rodar after leaving Bingham City was called up to the National team as possibly the second center back off of the bench behind Porsha. Rodar didn't play too well at the DBC and Bingham City were awful during their relegation year however she was given a shot at the Cup of Harmony and played well, Michael White really likes her skill set. She currently is the starter at right back for Taeshan side New Capetown Falcons who recently came in third of that higher level league. Her abilities with the New Capetown Falcons as a right back convinced the coaching staff that she could play there and she has beaten out Porsha for the starting right back job.

Center Back: Miranda Atkinson #51(F) Age: 23 Barnley FC
Caps: 126 Goals: 4 Assists: 8
Miranda Atkinson has been the second best player on the defense since she became a starter midway through the Baptism of Fire, two years ago. Since then she has improved, just reached, 20, and not to mention won the MVP with Barnley FC in season 1 of the KFA Premier League. While the following seasons haven't been as good she still has been one of the best defenders in the league and will continue to be so as she grows and develops. She like a lot of this team has her best days ahead of her and will be the starter for a long time.

Center Back: Claire Corton #24 (F) Age: 29 Team: Swisston City FC
Caps: 118 Goals: 4 Assists: 7
Corton had a rough start to the BoF, with some saying her and Vargas were the major problem with the team. She stepped it up a bit later in the tournament but overall had a rough BOF. Since then she has been a real redemption story playing extremely well, a lot better than when Callie Porsha had to step in as her replacement. Corton is still in the prime of her career, but she was injured midway through 85's qualifiers causing her to miss the entire Cup of Harmony. She really has put those questions behind her and has been very solid in the back but will have to keep looking over her shoulder if she wants to keep this spot.

Left Back: Nicholas Radison #14 (M) Age: 27 Team: Port Tacassam FC (Tikariot)
Caps: 143 Goals: 10 Assists: 7
Radison has been the best defender by far. He has the pace to run up and down the wings which is something you always look for in a wing back. Radison has consistently been the lone saving grace of the defense but now the defense is much improved which will take the burden off of his back especially with the emergence of Atkinson, and improvemnts from Claire Corton. Radison is just entering his prime at age 26. He has also been asked to play more of a role in the offense with his speed down the wings. Last offseason he completed a transfer from FC Kohnface City to Tikariotan side Port Tacassam FC who finished in second during his first season with the team with the best defense in the league. In addition Radison has the most caps on the team as well all know availibility is the best skill.

Goalkeeper: Bertha Sanders #1 Age: 24 (F) Team: Sindvpore FC (Indusse)
Caps: 91 Goals: 0 Assists: 0
After starting for Kohnhead at the most recent U-21 World Cup/DBC, Sanders in a surprise move was named the National Team starter over Madison Richards for the IAC. Richards continued to be on the bench as Sanders who looked good at the DBC took over for the legend that was Jackson Newcastle. Newcastle has also returned to and will be a member of the coaching staff and will especially be helping Sanders. It appears as if Coach Kohnhead made another smart move as she looked great at the IAC and could be the starter for the next 15 years. Qualifiers were more difficult for her but she should bounce back here at the CoH. White is keeping her as the starter after a good Cup of Harmony, and IAC. Sanders recently completed a big money move to Sindvpore FC the reigning champions in Indusse where she will continue to get better. Sindvpore captured another league title in her first season there and then in the ensuing League of Victors helped lead them to a surprising trophy. Sanders had an oustanding WC 88 Qualifying cycle and the defense was often the bright spot of her team and a big part of the reason why was the play of Bertha Sanders behind the sticks.

Formation: 4-4-2

Captain: Korkson
Left Free Kick: Rallyton
Right Free Kick: Rallyton
Right Corner: Rallyton
Left Corner: Rallyton
Penalties: Korkson

Coach: Michael White (M) (South Newlandia)

Bench
Forward: Thomas Stratford #12 (M) Age: 23 Nickelson FC
Caps: 37 Goals: 7 Assists: 7
Stratford has not played too much for the National team but with Griffin Pheonix-Anderson retiring and Harry Richman retiring he has moved up to the first choice striker on the bench. He recently graduated from University and succesfully returned to his club of Nickelson to pair with GPA and Madison Richards helping lead them to a second place finish in the league which he followed up with a third place two seasons ago. His best season might have been his third season but the team itself faultered in its first year without GPA finishing in 8th. Internationally he played quite well in Twicetagria starting a couple of games and played pretty good off the bench at the last IAC, qualifiers, and Cup of Harmony. Stratford while he isn't going to supplant Korkson and Maltos has a route to playing time in a formation switch if we go back to a 4-3-3 but it would be difficult to pass any of the current starters. He is a valuable asset off the bench and can start if called upon.

Forward: John Smith #19 (M) Age: 25 South Saints (Ethane)
Caps: 12 Goals: 2 Assists: 0
Smith played for Barnley in Season One but transferred to the reigning champs of Ethane (The South Saints) in that offseason where he helped them reach third place in the league to go back to IFCF competitions. The following season he helped them win the league in dominant fashion cementing his place on the squad. He replaced GPA in the squad when he retired and has moved up to second choice striker off of the bench with Harry Richman's retirement and will be adding some more caps to his International Career. Smith got his second career goal during WC 88 Qualifying and he started his first three games due to player rotation and injury.

Forward: Darien Robin #13 (M) Age: 22 Olympique de Rimouski (Quebec and Shingoryeo)
Caps: 3 Goals: 1 Assists: 0
Darien Robin was a product from the FC Wangor academy who stepped in and excelled in his first season in Kohnhead outperforming every expectation put on him, now for 2.2 million he joins Suzanna Barter at Olympique de Rimouski in Quebec and Shingoryeo. Robin may not get much action in his first cycle but as we saw last season the sky is the limit for him as he just showed how good he can be and now will get a chance to prove his worth at a top team in a good league. In Robin's first ever appearance he came on late against Gouvanarch with the score tied on 1 for John Smith (who was starting due to Maltos and Korkson both being out) and late in the 80s scored a volley off of a Rallyton cross to make the place go wild.

Midfielder: Audrey Henderson #9 (F) Age: 26 FC Kohnface City
Caps: 91 Goals: 14 Assists: 13
For the longest time, Henderson was our top sub off of the bench especially in the midfield and she stepped up big time when Cogginter went down early on during the qualifiers at World Cup 85. Despite this it seemed that the young Henderson may never be given a spot to start until finally before our inaugural IAC, Coach Kohnhead decided to give her the starting spot in for Hannah Horsford as we transitioned to a 4-3-1-2. Henderson played extremely well at said IAC but struggled in both the 86 qualifiers as well as the following Cup of Harmony prompting a benching as Michael White made his first big move. Things were looking down for Henderson but an MVP winning season for the Premier League winning FC Kohnface City side changes everything. She is clearly the top player off of the bench and can play anywhere in the midfield which is a big asset.

Midfielder: Al Torgan #21 (M) Age: 31 Team: FK Finansijskigrade (ZRH)
Caps: 76 Goals: 11 Assists: 8
He was the top mid off the bench in the 86 qualifiers and Michael White is exceptionally high on him for good reason and with a legendary season with Capital FC in Sylestone winning the league, MVP, and Golden Boot he may have earned the top sub spot back. While the plan was for him to appear as a sub in most games in place of Ida Cogginter, Torgan just outplayed every expectation and added on to Cogginter's struggles his resurgence in his late 20s gave him a starting spot for the first time which he kept for a long time and built on at the Cup of Harmony. While he still played really well in his last season at Capital FC an end of window move to FK Finansijskigrade in Zeta Reka and Hugeltaldom is his next move domestically. He's played well for the National Team and is certainly nowhere near done yet.

Midfielder: Ida Cogginter #41 (F) Age: 31 Team: Alexandria City (Xanneria)
Caps: 86 Goals: 14 Assists: 14
Three years ago before our BOF many thought Audrey Henderson the then young 21 year old would have her spot. Cogginter proved those doubters wrong and had a fantastic tournament. She really is a big part in the flow of the offense and has great skills as a passer. Cogginter plays second fiddle on Kohnhead City to Korkson and Maltos but she really played well in the BOF and some claim her injury was the reason Kohnhead didn't make it to the quarters. Despite her injury troubles in the qualifiers for World Cup 85 she has returned as good as ever in the Cup of Harmony and in the IAC. It was a bold move to give her the starting spot originally and it was a bold move to give it back to her upon her return to injury but she has deserved it both times. Age and injury unfortunately have just taken a toll on her and while she is still good and had a good season for 2nd place Alexandria City in the FLOX she continues to slide down the pecking chart.

Back: Callie Porsha #42 (F) Age: 23 FC Kohnface City
Caps: 69 Goals: 2 Assists: 3
Porsha following CPL's well documented struggles took over the starting right back spot as Coach White eventually benched her in favor of Taylor Rodar. She recently graduate to join FC Kohnface City and is currently the top defender off of the bench. She played a big part in FC Kohnface's turnaround two seasons ago and is only 22 so even though she lost her starting job there is definitely time for her to win it back. Porsha also had a very good year domestically being named to the KFA First Team as part of the best defense in the league alongside Burung Geremek from the Squornshelean Remnant States.

Back: Arnold Donaldson #23 (M) Age: 27 Team: Kinjestad Soccer (South Newlandia)
Caps: 8 Goals: 0 Assists: 0
Donaldson was the third new player added to the roster for the last IAC after a good debut season in Mriin playing for the Vidal Alcehmists. While he's by no means the best player on the team, Mriin teams are a lot better than Kohnheadian teams and the fact that he was starting says a lot. He is replacing Vargas but is probably the last or second to last defender on the depth chart. Despite reports that he would play ahead of CPL at the qualifiers this was untrue as he only appeared in one game however by now it is pretty much official that he is ahead of Prius-Leonard when it comes to the depth chart. Donaldson becomes the next Kohnheadian to move to South Newlandia signing for Kinjestad Soccer on a free due to the collapse of the Alchemists. Donaldson got his first three starts and five total caps during the most recent Qualifiers and played pretty well in those games, while he won't ever turn into an NT starter he's played well off the bench.

Back: Caroline Prius-Lenoard #76 (F) Age: 36 Team: Sporting Kohnhead City
Caps: 74 Goals: 1 Assists: 6
Prius-Leonard didn't start out too well as the entire defense struggled during our Baptism of Fire but since then she has been a constant at right back and has really turned her game around. CPL is getting up there in age and while she has missed only three games as part of the team she has a bad injury history and at 34 many people are worried how much longer she can keep playing at a high level as she has publicly flirted with retiring before last domestic league season and is now on a new team in SKC. CPL looked old, slow, and fatigued during 86 qualifiers which resulted in her being benched for the first time. Donaldson is now ahead of her on the depth chart as is Porsha.

Goalkeeper: Amber Washington #25 (F) Age: 25 Porter City
Caps: 1 Goals: 0 Assists: 0
Washington is the third string keeper on the team and will probably take over the backup role once Richards retires. Washington is coming off of a season in which she won the Golden Boot and was named to the KFA First Team for the winning Porter City. She was the only callup to the squad for the 87 World Cup Qualifiers because White wanted a third keeper and didn't see the field until one match in the World Cup 88 Qualifiers. After Sanders got injured and Richards performed terribly Washington got a start against Garifunya and kept a clean sheet playing a vital role in Kohnhead securing the 1-0 win. Washington is now officially the backup but with only one career cap we hope she isn't ever turned to.

Goalkeeper: Madison Richards #72 (F) Age: 35 Nickelson FC
Caps: 6 Goals: 0 Assists: 0
Richards proved to be a suitable backup in the 3 games that she started last time in place of Jackson Newcastle as she despite some nerves in the first one settled down. At age 34, she will probably remain the backup for the rest of her career as Bertha Sanders has looked very good so far. Richards had another good domestic season and helped Nickelson have a top two defense and finish third just short of the title once again. However she made one appearance during WC 88 Qualifiers and allowed three to Qzvarkian Qaz leading to her benching before the next game for Amber Washington. Given her age and this performance as well as Washington's performance Richards has moved down to the third string keeper.

CHARTISTANI NATIONAL TEAM
Squad for the 89th World Cup

About Chartistan

The Musicalistic Union of the Cities of Chartistan (Often just Chartistan) is a nation in the region of Sonnel. The capital city, Billboard, is where most of the residents live and work, and is also home to the main governing jurisdiction of the country. Other major cities include Official City, Gaon and Aria.

About the National Team

The Chartistani national team picture varies from week to week as do the Chartistani... Charts. The Chartistani NT was decided by this week's Chartistani Hot Chart, a 100 player index of the top players in Chartistan, the Bubbling Under Hot Chart, a 25 player index of up and comers, and whatever other chart we could find.

The main Chartistani home kit is purple with blue accents, while the away kit is mostly black.

Manager: Doctor Lucas Combbrush
A Musicville district citizen of Chartistan's largest city Billboard, Doctor Combbrush has been inside and outside the game of football for the last couple of years as a player and a manager. Coming into World Cup 89 after 3 draws in Chartistan's Cup of Harmony group, he has elected to be a player-manager for this cycle, slotting himself in the bench to be called upon if needed.

Eleanorian national team roster for the 89th World Cup

Postby Saint Eleanor » Sun Sep 12, 2021 9:44 am

Roleplay Permissions: No deaths (in this squad or elsewhere in Saint Eleanor), no wholesale changes of the Eleanorian squad ("wholesale" being whatever I define as wholesale), no firing the manager or her assistant, no trying to remove Eleanorian government officials, absolutely no destruction of Saint Eleanor or significant areas thereof, no injuries longer than two games unless I telegram or DM you to the contrary, and no more than two red cards or other form of suspension per match (again unless I say otherwise). Otherwise, go wild.

Style Modifier: -1.5

Home Stadium: The National Liberation Arena in Central district of Saint Eleanor City - capacity 68,184 and about half a mile away from the Presidential Palace.

The actual roster - presented as a report from Saint Eleanor State Broadcasting Worldwide - begins below this line. (This roster was OOCly corrected on 20th September 2021 to reflect O'Donnell's correct age.)

Saint Eleanor roster: Who could take the field during the 89th World Cup?
Reporting and analysis on the Eleanorian national team by Saint Eleanor State Broadcasting's Chief Football Correspondent, Jamie Rodgers
Originally published on Thursday 22nd February 1996

Having made the quarterfinals of last month's Baptism of Fire before going down to eventual champions Pyazhnaya in a highly entertaining game, many hope - but few expect - that Saint Eleanor will take a wide-open qualification group by storm this spring and summer. Up to 220th in the world rankings but still the third-worst team in the group, there is every chance that the White Stars will pull off a few good upsets over the course of the next eighteen - or perhaps twenty - games (and they will have to if they are to stand any chance here). Just one question, however: Can they?

The Saint Eleanor Football Association has, despite some lingering concerns, continued to put their trust in the current national team. President George Mitcham is right behind them, too, and no doubt that he will make the short walk from his home to the National Liberation Arena for our first qualifier on Sunday night, against Pluvia and the Saxean Isles. We will be right behind them, of course.

And so twenty-three men and women could take the field throughout this World Cup cycle, the same ones fielded for the recent Baptism. Some of them have their years-old backstories; some of them have their recent histories; a few can call President and General George Mitcham their boss; all have the potential to do and be good on the pitch (and sometimes off it). But who are they - really?

John Bailey (#1), with Independence 1975, only conceded 11 in 18 games as they nudged their way to last season's title. Like his goalkeeping teammates, Bailey is generally reluctant to venture further than the six-yard box unless absolutely necessary, but is more open to pushing forward and acting as a defender of last resort when he ever is forced to do so.

Luke Gregory (#2), who captained Athletic Saint Eleanor until Harriet Williams took over in the summer of 1994 and recently signed for Sword and Shield, is still regarded by many observers of domestic football as a decent, traditional left-back. While not as fast as Davies, he can still be relied on to be as physical as necessary and no more to get the ball, as well as to send it forward to Donald (or Parkinson, as necessary).

Exandra Davies (#3) - pronounced "Sandra" - is one of only three players from Good Hope Club, and of five from beyond the Big Four (Independence, Athletic, Army and Navy, and Sword and Shield). She is arguably the most eccentric player in the squad - insisting on eating half a satsuma before every match (the manager might want the other half for herself) and never pulling her socks beyond the top of her shinpads - but can easily take the ball from anyone, by force if necessary, and give it to any of her teammates on a good day.

James Trott (#4), who normally plays as a standard-issue central midfielder for Independence 1975, is expected to drop a bit deeper for the national team. Trott usually seeks to take the ball, whether through tackles and interceptions, before the defenders can be threatened; unlike Paul Ferry and Liam West, however, he seeks to distribute the ball to his midfield partner or perhaps those playing further upfield.

Paul Ferry (#5), Gregory's teammate from Sword and Shield, is the White Stars' hard man, seeking to trouble opposing strikers for as long as possible and willing to go hard - but fair - to stop them scoring. This has apparently not stopped him from contributing "about one in twenty dollars" of his salary to local church projects operating in and around east coastal Saint Eleanor city.

Liam West (#6) captains Independence 1975, Saint Eleanor's greatest club, as well as the country itself. The solid but largely nondescript centreback, more willing to subtly jostle opposing attackers off the ball, if not outright preventing them from having it in the first place, than Ferry - just - has leadership credentials away from football as well, having worked as a floor manager in a corner shop in north-eastern Saint Eleanor city for the past six years with varying degrees of success.

Evan Donald (#7), Army and Navy's first-choice left-winger, is the White Stars' too; he is usually happy to wait on the ball for Gregory to overlap but can also run forward himself if necessary... or desired. Should it be required, he can happily fill in at left-back: in 1993, Aidan Harris was taken out of action for two months after a fractured ankle caused by a harsh tackle from Donald during training.

Harriet Williams (#8), skipper of Independence's great rivals Athletic Saint Eleanor, is expected to balance out Trott's convervatism with a more positive approach, receiving and spraying around passes for the wide midfielders and strikers in the team from open play. Yet as the omnibus setpiece taker for club and country, many will also expect her to sprout or even singlehandedly create significant opportunities from the dead ball.

Katie O'Donnell (#9), despite topping out at 5 feet 9 inches, arguably has - largely accidental - similarities to her manager, Priscilla Evans, with her incredible athleticism and willingness to take opportunities that few others on either team notice. What cannot be denied is that this helped her to score 13 in 18 for Athletic last season, only two behind...

Aidan Harris (#10), who not only captains Army and Navy but is also its only player to serve in the full military, was reportedly added on the insistence of Stephen Mitcham, Evans' assistant and his classmate at the Eleanorian Military Academy. A more stationary - and physical - striker, Harris is domestically infamous for managing to get into the penalty area with sufficient regularity to at least hammer the ball somewhere in front of him. It appears to have worked for last season's top scorer.

Jessica Martin (#11), starring out wide for Sword and Shield as well as the national team, could pose a threat to opposing left-backs but cannot keep and control the ball as well as Donald. Martin is also one of the most politically involved players in the Eleanorian squad, having fought for the abolition of VAT on sporting equipment and successfully lobbied the President to enact the ICT Order - which amended the curriculum to require all schoolchildren to be proficient in digital skills such as computer usage - in December 1995.

What kit will the players be wearing?

Home: Black shirt, shorts and socks
Away: Blue and yellow vertically-striped shirt*, yellow shorts and blue socks
Goalkeeper: Green shirt, shorts and socks

Image

*the back side and sleeves of the away shirt are all in yellow
Sam Carter (#12) is the most attack-minded of Independence's contingent to the national team. At thirty, he is already starting to decline - observers have noted that many of his crosses and dribbles last season failed to have a positive impact on the Liberators' play, more than before - and it is unsurprising to all but the most hardened to see Martin start ahead of him.

Georgia Wood (#13), Golden Unicorn's consistently inconsistent goalkeeper, shipped one per game last season but is practically out of contention for the starting lineup, with Bailey preferred. Despite voicing concern about the Big Four's aforementioned domination of this roster, she is an otherwise slightly above-average player, the kind the average Eleanorian might want to look up to if they want to have anything less than a significant headache in their playing careers.

John Parkinson (#14), who received the Golden Backpack - awarded for the best footballer in secondary school - in 1991, now starts for Sword and Shield, joining Martin out wide and being similarly energetic. Many, however, have pointed to his relative lack of experience in the Premier League - not making a start until the last game of 1994 and only playing 13 last season - which Evans appears to have accepted for the most part.

Alice Christopher (#15) also earned a strong reputation at school but for different reasons, serving as Williams' deputy head girl at the Eleanorian Academy in the 1987 school year. Now with Independence 1975, the pair remain friendly off the pitch yet have developed a sort of rivalry on it, with some observers arguing that the two do play similarly but with Christopher instead playing in the deeper role Trott occupies in this national team.

Laura Brown (#16), centreback by trade and Davies' good friend from Good Hope Club, has earned something of a reputation for avoiding tackles where possible, instead aiming on intercepting passes and then making her own. The expected fielding of Ferry and West ahead of her, however, alongside Harris starting up front appears to suggest that Saint Eleanor will take a more physical approach to defending.

Jack Smith (#17), Good Hope Club's starting striker, must expect to start on the substitutes' bench for most games. Usually happiest playing in a deeper position than most strikers - including O'Donnell and Harris - it is widely suggested that either tactical differences between him and Evans or the relative prolifigacy of the two starting strikers have led to his being largely sidelined.

Luke Elliott (#18), West's centre-back partner at Independence, is not the only Luke who can play in the national team's back four - but he is the much less likely one. Elliott has regularly shown himself to be capable on pressing relatively high for a defender and then going into a position more typical of midfielders, arguably including Trott and Christopher. In this case, his relative versatility may have justified why he is not expected to play a major role.

Steve Pilchard (#19), at eighteen, is the sole teenager in the squad, and the only player who has never known Saint Eleanor as anything but an independent country. Currently with Occidental Olympic, his appearances have largely been confined to the youth team; given that age-group football largely restricts itself to friendlies with non-league sides of substantially worse caliber than almost any international football team imaginable, some have questioned if his spectacular-looking record - 8 goals and 13 assists in 16 friendlies - is more of a concern than a boon.

Grace Bryant (#20), usually a substitute rightback for Army and Navy, will largely be on the bench for the national team too. Some of the more liberally-minded members of Eleanorian society have pointed to the reservist and Lance-Corporal as one of the first (and youngest) women in the national military, it is much more likely that she will be keeping order on the big city's streets when not playing or training, with the police force having virtually never existed as an independent entity.

Paul Johnson (#21) is the only member of this squad not to have been brought up in the capital, which boasts all ten of the Premier League's teams. He instead made his name playing for a representative squad from his hometown of Bishopgate. It was there that he won the somewhat belated attention of Athletic Saint Eleanor's scouts; although he has replaced Gregory as their main leftback, he cannot claim a similar victory on the international stage and arguably has too similar a playing style.

Fred Newton (#22), who - with O'Donnell - is half of Athletic's usual strike partnership, is faster than her but much less technically gifted. Despite arguments as to whether he should be playing alongside or even supplanting Donald or Martin, his relatively high shirt number (Saint Eleanor still keeps to a fairly traditional shirt-numbering system in most places) appears to suggest that he may be called upon as a backup striker.

Will Francis (#23) is usually between the sticks for Sword and Shield. Despite a fairly average record last season, shipping 22 goals in 18 games, SESB is informed that his recent performances on the training ground will make him a decent deputy should the absolute worst happen to the White Stars' other two goalkeepers.

Priscilla Evans (the national team manager) is something of a cult figure in her home city of Tinhampton, having almost led it to two World Cups while it had a functional FA before scoring the goal that sent the Miners to the semi-finals of the 73rd Cup of Harmony - which they won - and earning a move to Crystal Fair HC of the Crystal Empire afterwards, becoming the only Tinhamptonian ever to play abroad. Her infamous rant towards healthcare worker and teammate Harry Porter a decade ago has aroused suspicion from critics, but not enough to detract her from her employment - or her job.

Stephen Mitcham (Evans' assistant) is not only a Lieutenant in the Eleanorian Army, but also the 29-year-old son of George, the military general who has ruled the country for almost two decades and has managed to keep control through prudent management of the North Star Oil Company and public reputation as a trustworthy family man. Although some have claimed that his employment could never have arisen without his father's interference in the nomination process, the fact that the Saint Eleanor Football Association appointed a Tinhamptonian to the top job appears to defy their allegations.

Residents of Saint Eleanor City can watch all of Saint Eleanor's World Cup qualifiers live on TV1, an arm of Saint Eleanor State Broadcasting. Anybody living in Saint Eleanor can follow these qualifiers on our website, sesb.ex, and listen to all of Saint Eleanor's qualifiers on Radio 3.

****** The Grand Republic of Saint Eleanor - area 2,863mi2, population 489,816, 1.6 cups of coffee/Eleanorian/day - it's 2000 (OOC: obvious Tinhampton puppet)
BoF76 quarterfinalists --- WC91 participants

Why? George Mitcham, General then and now, cofounded the National Liberation Front in 1971 to demand a free Saint Eleanor. He got his wish in '75 after a 15-month war: becoming President, appointing notable NLF friends and some charity's executive director as VPs and calling them legislators. He has retained power through oil money; zero income tax; free healthcare, schooling, public transport - and markets; tolerating dissent on apolitical matters; allowing private gun ownership (with plenty of training) to protect against future invasions; high-quality PR; and football.

RP permission and other basics
Look, whatever you do to this team may not end up mattering in the end (long story), so please feel free to have fun, and follow your heart. I'd ask that you observe the Golden Rule that has been more or less my permissions (i.e., if you would not let it be done to your team, don't do it to mine), but if you don't, that's on your conscience. I'll be less around this time around, so seriously feel comfortable using this team as a blank canvas.

Playing Style: +3, please

About Legalese

Legalese is a gargantuan, cultured nation in the Anaia region. It consists of two landmasses - the Nova Calanian mainland and the adjoining Karin Islands - and is located on the eastern side of the continent. Along with northern neighbors Starblaydia and lake-adjacent neighbors Krytenia and Mertagne, Legalese is one of the four current Bekkside nations, so named for the Lake Bekk which all four border.

Full Nation Name: The People and Government of Legalese
Short/Common Use Name: Legalese

The Team
Order is shirt number and name. The player's back of shirt/family name is in ALL CAPS.

Manager/Head Coach: The WCC Official looked curiously at the roster sheet.

"Is that a signature, a mark, a typo, or a Rorschach test?"

His colleague sighed. "Nigel, this is why you should never take a working lunch."

(OOC: feel free to have fun with indistinguishable figures on the touchline)

Playing Style
This team prefers aggressive attack, willing to give up a little more risks in the back, but is pretty morphous when it comes to a "formation". Typically expect at least two forwards, another attacking midfielder or two, and at least three in the back, but occasionally four, with the outside defenders playing all the way forward and back as needed.

Where you will be playing in Legalese: Declaration Point, Foxchester (capacity: 41,284)

This choice raised some eyebrows, as it is neither the capital of the nation, nor the more recent "new path forward" home in Spetz-Tessah. Re-named for the site of the signing of the NEATO Treating and the Declaration of Foxchester, the former town of Gavelton and their new southern coast -- forming Gavelton Cape -- left the home of domestic clubs Foxchester Rhinos and Java Forest on the tip, giving rise to the new name of Declaration Point. The stadium offers views of the Legal Pass as it opens into the Strait of Chie; on a clear day, you might even see Port Anaia and the land of The 189, nestled further inland.

The Kits

Host/Co-Host of:
World Cup XXII and LXVIII
Cup of Harmony XI and XIII
Baptism of Fire IX, XIV, XV, XVI, XLII, LII
The Inaugural CAFA Cup
AOCAF Cup V and XXXIV

Anaia: Like all the best ideas, this is moving from "lampoon" to
"take seriously" rather quickly

The Starblaydia national football team factbook will tell you more about the team, their style, culture, fans, and history than I can ever write in a simple roster post. Otherwise drop me a message on Discord or, failing that, shoot a TG over.

Five-time World, seven-time Regional, two-time Under-21, one-time Under-18 and one-time Olympic Men's Football champions Starblaydia will line up for their 69th entry into competition for the most sought-after trophy in the multiverse, still aiming for the record, unprecedented, sixth championship.

To achieve this, manager Ázëwyn Fëanáro has been working since the 78th World Cup to mix a core team of tried and trusted individuals with the best of the youth squads she has been bringing through since taking command of the entire national team setup, plus the SFA has completed a brand new national elite training and performance centre to further harness elite sporting prowess.

Starblaydia have appeared in a World (WC 83), Regional (AOCAF 61), Under-21 (DBC 48) and two Under-18 Finals (7th & 8th U18WC) in their recent history - winning the U18 and AOCAF Cups - and the decision to work from the ground up appears to be paying off. Momentum for deep knock-out runs seems to be on Fëanáro's side at the moment, and Starblaydia are still a side that every team in the competition will need to respect.

The full makeup of the team is as follows:

AF. Ázëwyn Fëanáro*, Manager, 4,085 - Image
44th & 47th World Cup Winner, World Cup Hall of Famer, 61st AOCAF Cup Winning Manager

270 Caps, 71 Goals (Uncapped at youth level)
Fëanáro scored the winner in the 47th World Cup Final against Valanora, denying them a title on their own turf and lifting Starblaydia to the mantle of all-time greatest team. Known for her excellent attacking play, range of passing and great eye for goal that lifts her to second in the all-time goalscorers list too, by virtue of a nearly 1-in-4 ratio, Ázëwyn Fëanáro is a symbol of grace, power and beauty from Starblaydia's golden age, some forty tournaments ago when the Cup was in its 40s. It is these qualities that the SFA managed to recapture with Fëanáro at the helm, bringing her trademark poise and piercing yell to the touchlines after more than a decade of national failures. She's taken her team to the World Cup Final and AOCAF glory, but can she increase Starblaydia's lead as the team with the most major titles in the world?

AC. Aaron Cole, Coach, 56 - Image
90 Caps, 54 Goals (7 Caps, 4 Goals at youth level)
The first person to break into the Starblaydi all-time top ten goalscorers in literally generations, Cole had the dubious honour of being the man to finally knock Simeone Di Bradini out of that same list. His excellent footballing brain, aggression levels, tactical nous and all-round Audioslavian/Brenecian level of shithousery made him a uniquely successful striker in a nation more used to smooth flying strikers and hulking target men. These are the qualities he brings to the national team on a much grander scale, giving them a level of needle to their play hitherto unknown for the team in white and purple, proving his style's effectiveness with a win over Audioslavia in the AOCAF Cup Final where they 'out-Bulls'd the Bulls'. The squad selection this time has somewhat fewer spoilers and destroyers than that squad, but this team is developing a character that can dig deep and do the dirty work when required.

AO. Amari Ollarion*, Coach, 56 - Image
46 Caps, 0 Goals (3 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
The best female Starblaydi goalkeeper since Paola Mendez, Ollarion has been managing her beloved Corinthian Spirits side for five years now, and other than Fëanáro is the most high-profile female coach in the Starblaydi game. Ollarion made her name as coach for the Starblaydi Women's Olympic team and did the no mean feat of taking them to the Quarter-Finals, continuing her journey on the senior national level.

4-2-4, +4 Style Modifier
4-2-4 is a formation Starblaydia have never lined up in before in their near 300-year history, but it's certainly the most attacking style they have ever settled on for a World Cup campaign. Expect lots of goals at both ends.

Kits created by:

Image
ediraf once again innovated beyond all competitors with the Generation Five series of football kits, with this version first debuted at the 82nd World Cup Finals.

Generation Five-B blends a number of Starblaydia's iconic kits from across more than a quarter of a millennium, including the return of side panels and a number on the front, while mixing in new design elements such as the subtle stripes of the away kit. Both proudly sport the five gold stars - representing their record-setting five World Championships at senior level - above the Starblaydi Football Association logo. Starblaydi players will also all be wearing rainbow laces, as a symbol of diversity and inclusion.

ediraf's market-leading technology includes:

Optiyarn
Optiyarn technology increases both supporting structure and dynamic stretch ability according to the wearer's requirements, isolating body parts and muscle groups for maximum integrity of material and complete comfort of fit. Toughened against all climates that come into contact with the exterior, yet gentle and smooth on the inside, Optiyarn fits better and aligns more comfortably to a player's body than ever before.

Aerodynamix
Aerodynamix design improves airflow over the material in a natural, ergonomic pattern, because even microseconds can be the different between victory and defeat on the grandest stages of sporting endeavour. Limbs and torso move more swiftly through the air, cutting through to achieve acceleration and top speeds hitherto unknown in previous incarnations.

Transpacool Three
Transpacool Three improves and evolves on the breathability features of previous ediraf CoolClimate creations, dispersing sweat into the atmosphere faster than ever before, siphoning cooling air in with more efficiency than any kit the company has produced previously. A Generation Five kit provides a greater enabler to a player's natural talent than at any point in history whilst keeping them at the optimum performance temperature.

The site of the 80th World Cup Final, all of Starblaydia's home matches will take place in the 196,754-seater Stadii Di Bradini, close to the popular tourist destination of Downtown Jhanna, Starblaydia's capital city. Boasting extensive transport links, hotels, restaurants, bars, clubs and entertainment, the Downtown area is the perfect place for a nearly quarter of a million fans to disperse into every evening after a match. It also has a direct route to JAX, Starblaydia's main internal airport and a major air travel hub of Atlantian Oceania.

The stadium is named after Starblaydia's most legendary former player, Jhanna-born striker Simeone Di Bradini: the former World Cup Committee President, World Cup Hall of Famer, and four-time World Cup Winner (all with The Holy Empire as player/manager), for whom the Di Bradini Cup, the world's premier Under-21 tournament, is also named. It is a gargantuan stadium notable for environmentally friendly 'eco-stadium' features built-in since before ground was first broken on the site. Designed and constructed using as many recyclable materials and installed with technology that reduce its carbon footprint and lowers its energy needs, the exterior features a huge array of photovoltaic solar panels on the roof. It was the centerpiece of the 'Green Starblaydia' project many years ago and remains one of the world's iconic stadiums.

Why, what do you know, it’s us again! The Vdarans haven’t travelled to South Newlandia for a while, but boy, are we glad to be back! World Cup season is in full swing, and this time around we’re looking a lot different. Want to know how? Here’s how:

Changes from World Cup 88
* The Dual-Team System has replaced by a blended lineup, no longer dividing squads by age, but by ability. Hence, some players have lost their spot in the team. The Vdaran FA came to this decision following the departure of Lükækš Væñøœrëñbérghüïś and the subsequent failure to qualify for World Cup 88.

First Team

Zaharias Frangoglou - A product of the national team’s recent dive into forming their own academy rather than snatching their players from established sides, 22-year-old Zaharias has impressed many with his reflexes and diving ability, and at 6’4” he towers over most of his teammates. In the last Sporting World Cup, Frangoglou saved two penalties in the final which gave Vdara their first ever trophy - even if it was just a youth tournament. In his one season in Sylestone, he helped Avondale Beach FC finish 5th in a division where they were expected to finish 12th, which earned him a move to SW Stahlberg. Markos Moustakakos’ retirement has seen him move into the position of first team goalkeeper, where his talents will be on full display.

Tryfon Vlahiades - A wondrous wing back who always puts 100% effort into every match, Vlahiades has shown his greatness internationally, with his pace being used to get to wide areas further down the pitch. The 33-year-old is a skilful crosser and free-kick taker, and is usually the penalty-kick taker. The wing back earned a move to 1830 Cathair in Audioslavia after WC85, where he’s shown his worth as a great full-back by scoring the winning goal in 1830’s title-winning season - as well as being named as one of the Cycle 78 Galacticos.

Nestoras Galanatos - Mathaios Pardakis’ retirement at the age of 41 paved the way for Nestoras Galanatos to enter the squad, and he’s certainly proven himself. Decent domestic performances in Schottia with Marionville paved the way for a move to North Hall in Brenecia, where his performances have slightly stagnated.

Trifonas Tolakis - Cool names are an oddly effective way of making your way into one of the national team, and Trifonas Tolakis has managed to capitalise on that opportunity fully. Another product of the national team’s academy, the youth scouts predict that he’ll go far, and that commentators will enjoy saying his name out loud. It’ll be mainly Tikariotan commentators that enjoy saying his name, however, as Valnohar Rovers snapped the young defender up as soon as they heard how cool his name was.

Manousos Athanas - A fantastic wing back with more pace than sense, Athanas has been known to race past opposition midfielders and defenders with a smirk on his face and his few brain cells rattling about in his head. Now 33, Athanas seemed to have finally peaked, but he’s still as quick and as unbeatable as ever.

Kimon Karalas - A midfield maestro who is great at crosses and corners, Karalas is a player who could impress many at this World Cup. His ability to pass the ball is one that has bamboozled many opposition players before, and the 31-year-old has been known to perform skill moves such as the rainbow flick and McGeady spin relatively often, which is odd for a central midfielder. Goals aren’t uncommon for this lad either, and his form has steadily gone back up domestically with Veriasod Lakers in Tikariot.

Lambros Tantalopoulos - Having been a household name in Vdara while playing for the second lineup, it was only a matter of time before this star player made it into the first team. Ever since scoring a crucial diving header in Vdara’s Under-18 World Cup win, Tantalopoulos has been on the up, signing for South Newlandian side Walstreim Lions and taking them to three consecutive league titles - as well as the knockout stage of the IFCF Champions League. This did not go unnoticed, however, and he has since went on to sign for Brunchester United in Ko-oren.

Anargyros Stamatelis - Not much is known about this midfielder, but he is quite good. Performing decently at the last World Cup, the 33-year-old has shown critics that he is more than just an average midfielder, at least by Vdaran standards. A decent crosser, Stamatelis usually sits back in the midfield when people go forward, and he’s wary of counter attacks.

Alkiviadis Manolakis - All you really need to have a decent attack in a 4-3-3 is pacey, skilled wingers on either side. Have we got these? Abso-fucking-lutely! Alkiviadis is pacey as hell, with the ball often falling to him in times where defences need broken down.

Chirstoforos Lazelis - An athletic, quick striker who can zoom past defenders faster than every other player in this squad, Lazelis rose through the Vdaran football pyramid straight from the Gamma League to the Alpha League following the 28-year-old’s incredible performances in the 4th tier. His performances both internationally and domestically later earned him a move to Nepharan club North Laithland, where he’s been performing well.

Manousos Scafididis - Over on the right wing, we have Manousos Scafididis. This tournament will be the first time that he will appear in the first team, with the formation finally changing from a 5-3-2 to a 4-3-3, allowing for there to be wingers upfront. Scafididis’ main proficiencies are set pieces, such as corners and free kicks, as well as crossing.

Substitutes

Serapheim Metrakis - Having been overlooked for the past couple of tournaments, Metrakis was wondering whether he’d ever get called up again. Thanks to Moustakakos’ retirement, he returns to being the backup goalkeeper, albeit his chances of game time will be very minimal, injuries forbidding.

Anargyros Zerveas - Following Vdara’s disappointing last place finish in Sporting World Cup 10, Anargyros earned himself a move to Taeshan in an attempt to prove that he was in fact still a solid player with great potential. The move boosted his confidence and helped him grow as a player, and at 18 he ended up being an integral part of the Vdaran defence during Under-18 World Cup 11.

Stamatios Christakos - How many academy graduates can you have in one squad? The answer is six, and Stamatios is the third one in this list. This lad has never skipped leg day, and could probably crush a watermelon with his thighs - if he could be bothered. His sheer strength allows him to make great tackles and clearances, all while striking fear into more scrawny opponents. Still never been able to find a club, though.

Akakios Demotis - Here’s another player who moved to Taeshan after a disastrous performance in SWC 10. Amazingly, his move to Taeshan helped him a lot, and he was an integral part of the midfield duo which dominated games at times.

Themistoklis Muleas - Not the most standout player in the squad, but definitely not a bad one. He is overshadowed by most of the other attackers - and other players in the squad - but he is still definitely one to watch during this tournament. His impact on the squad was finally noticed by Euran club Blackfields, who have decided to take a punt on the young Vdaran.

Andrianos Petras - Following the advancement of Nik Cosmidis to the first team, Petras was called up from the Academy to replace him. This worked amazingly well, as he scored goal after goal after goal during Vdara’s Under-18 World Cup 11 adventure. This caught the eye of scouts in Tikariot, who snapped him up on the cheap so that he could show his skills. Since then, Andrianos has scored a huge number of goals in the Tikariot Premier League, and has proven himself to be one of the best Vdaran youngsters out there.

Ferrero Fotellis - Son of the legendary Alexis Fotellis, being a dual-national of both South Newlandia and Vdara. Tipped to be one of the next best players in this side, but there are rumours going about that he’ll switch to South Newlandia and represent them in the next World Cup. Whether this happens or not, we’ll find out soon enough - what we do know, however, is how brilliant he is.

Mathaios Makrotsis - The last academy graduate of this lineup, Makrotsis will be looking to further perfect his abilities in this tournament. At the young age of 21, Makrotsis has plenty time to perfect his abilities at his new club in Quebec - and he also has a winners’ medal from the Under-18 World Cup 11.

STAFF
MANAGER: Image Lele Manguele - Age 39
Silver-tongued Lele Manguele should not be here. His past is shrouded in mystery: for all we know, he was a run-of-the-mill Farf until he turned up to a Royal Rumiatzi interview one day, uninvited, and convinced them to hire him as manager. He bedazzled fans and neutrals alike with his gung-ho attacking style, and eventually got sacked because he couldn't win the league to save his life. He did break the league record for most goals scored in the process, however, and nobody thinks of his stint there as a failure. He then convinced the FFFF to send a squad to the Di Bradini Cup after about two decades, and then took over as manager there. The team performed dreadfully, but Alex Terán, the FFFF's president, liked Manguele's initiative and style of play enough to hand him the senior team. He's even been given full control, no questions asked. With a penchant for the bizarre, even by Farf standards, we will have to wait and see what he brings to the table this cycle.
ASSISTANT MANAGER: Image Lele Manguele - Age 39
Manguele does not believe he needs an assistant manager.
TEAM MEDIC: Image Lele Manguele - Age 39
He is not a licensed physician, but that is not going to stop him.

STARTERS

#1 - Dieje Ibrelaná - GK - Age 30 - Image Urbizania Wanderers Image
Ibrelaná is pretty good. Not super good, sure, and not quite at the level of Farfadillis' past goalkeepers, but he'll have to do for now. He's acrobatic and his positioning is good. Yes, he can be shaky when playing as a sweeper keeper which is—perhaps—not ideal in a team like this. He'll be sitting in the bench for some of the less important matches as Difgueroa is given a chance to show what he's made of, in the hopes he turns out to be better than Dieje.

#6 - Loxjilo Exihosahar - LB - Age 28 - Image Royal Rumiatzi Image
When Lele Manguele, then at Royal Rumiatzi, signed an unknown Farf amateur from Induja, nobody expected him to actually hold his own. But hold his own he did; he went from "who is this guy?" to "hey, he's actually pretty decent!" to Galáctico longlist in a remarkably short time. He's fast, pacey, rapid, swift, speedy, brisk, fast-moving and quick. He is also ok defensively and can cross the ball pretty well. Rumoured to be insecure about his height, too. Manguele will want to field him as often as possible, on account of having discovered him.

#2 - Gëngüdó Pìgülôçô - CB - Age 24 - Image Rülândéá Kôstä Image
Rumoured to be dumb as bricks, Gëngüdó is nonetheless very fast, very tall and very strong. He's also fairly decent with the ball at his feet. This means that he'll be starting, since all decent Farf centerbacks are now way too old and Manguele wants to shake things up. Despite his menacing appearance, Pìgülôçô is very docile. Not that that will ever make him shy away from a rough challenge when he needs to make one, but don't expect him to get into unnecessary trouble.

#4 - Têrçêr Ànáxímane - RB - Age 27 - Image Dí Maozöxê Image
Very pacey, with good technique and defensively somewhat okay. He doesn't crumble under pressure, and scores surprisingly often for a fullback. He's also got plenty of experience at the highest level, as key piece in one of the best teams in the S-FPL, having won two league titles there already. Expect to see him flying up and down the pitch relentlessly now that Manguele's in charge, as he will want to fully exploit his offensive capabilities, defense be damned.

#5 - Mbogo Nørgaard - CM - Age 23 - Image Revolutionaries Image
Half-Banijan, half-Fröndti, Mbogo's undoubtedly very talented. He's got a gifted physique and good playmaking skills. Bit of an all-rounder, but not quite a specialist at anything. He'll be expected to provide balance in midfield, while his partner Çí Xôrí will be more free to do his own thing. Still, don't be surprised if you see him marauding up the pitch out of nowhere, since it's exactly the kind of thing Manguele will be asking him to do every now and then. He's fast and he's technical, and he's got a pretty mean long-range shot, so he could surprise more than one team.

#3 - Ígnîgo Çí Xôrí - CM - Age 28 - Image Mâ Âlâmëómë Image
Quietly one of the best players in the squad. He's got astonishing technique and fantastic vision, and is quite decent defensively to boot. He can be inconsistent, however, which has proven frustrating for fans (both at club and international level). When he's on one of his good days, though, he is completely unplayable. He's capable of single-handedly grabbing a game by the throat purely by utterly dominating in midfield. If only he could be made to care enough to do it often...

#8 - Emiliano Gallegas - LW - Age 28 - Image Energija Chernovets Image
A winger with insane pace and a lot of attitude. His pace alone makes him hard to control, but add in good dribbling, good crossing and nerves of steel and you've got one of the best players in the team (and, arguably, the Multiverse). He's a Galáctico! He's got a very direct style—both on and off the pitch—so expect him to cause trouble to any slow defenders or bothersome journalists. Gallegas is arguably the most consistent player in the squad, and is one of the few players who can hold their heads high after last cycle's debacle.

#10 - Faragó rue Cazade - OM - Age 35 - Image Brinemouth Image
Despite his age, Faragó is a notoriously difficult player to contain, and is arguably still the best player in the squad. Why do you think Brinemouth destabilized the Szoirsian economy (admittedly not that hard) in order to sign him? He is great at timing his runs to always get that elusive chance at a shot from the edge of the box with some space to spare, and he is deadly when gets these chances, to say nothing of the fact that he is quite tall and a considerable aerial menace. This cycle, due to his age, he will try his hand at playing as an offensive midfielder. He should be thought of more as a second striker of sorts, who tries to make late runs. However, he can and will be creating chances for his teammates.

#11 - Tôsgo Alxíkí - RW - Age 26 - Image Revolutionaries Image
Astonishing pace, great technique, a good shot and fantastic dribbling—coupled with an "indomitable will" if you're into cringey descriptions—make him one of the best players in the squad. However, one can't help but feel like he just hasn't lived up to his potential: many genuinely thought he could become as good as, say, Wínrôuge or Dandalleion. Not a big problem, though: he is still world class, and he will still be causing problems to pretty much any defense he comes across, at least if the rest of the team manages to give him good service. If anyone on the team is going to create that "spark" needed to break the lock in a very even game, chances are it will be him.

#9 - Edmün Çídh - ST - Age 29 - Image Raynor City United Image
Edmün played a huge role in World Cup 84, scoring the winning goal against Banija in the group stage. The win eventually let la Vherderoja advance to the knock-outs, and the rest is history. He is a very complete player. Fast, good at dribbling, good at playmaking and good at finishing. A complete package. He is reportedly not a great influence off the pitch, however, and apparently has a very cold relationship with his brother, who has now been relegated to the bench by Manguele. Edmün is rumoured to be ecstatic. He'll be expected to play as a supporting striker, since he's a much better playmaker than Bastanchury, but don't be surprised if he disobeys Manguele and does his own thing.

#18 - Horacio Bastanchury - ST - Age 25 - Image La Nueva Avenida Image
Farf players are like cockroaches in that they can pop up anywhere, so it was not such a surprise when some nineteen-year-old started banginng them in in Siovanija and Teusland for some middling club. He's now signed for La Nueva Avenida and has been restless at banging them in. He's fast and good at finishing. It's a simple, but very effective combination. However, when facing defenses where the battering ram approach is expected to be more effective, Manguele is likely to field Röémün Çídh instead.

SUBSTITUTES

#12 - Rogerio Defigueroa - GK - Age 21 - Image Avenida Leal Image
Rogerio's only here cause Avenida Leal's goalkeepers all started playing like shit one season and they had to recur to some youngster they hadn't thought of giving playing time to for a couple more years. He's done fairly well since, so he's here now. He played horribly when first given a chance, but his club form of late has been good enough to warrant him another chance. Expect him to feature here and there. He's tall and has great reflexes, and is not half bad at timing his runs out of the box.

#23 - Lís Âllásí - GK - Age 24 - Image Lonngeylin Coast Image
Another one of those players that popper up out of nowhere. Âllásí, at best, rang a bell to some obsessed Farf football fan when he started putting in decent performances for Lonngeylin Coast. There's a dearth of goalkeepers, and in that context it's impossible to pass up on one who is starting for a V-League team. Lís has a knack for unpredictability, which is a decidedly bad trait for a goalkeeper, but he makes up for it with great reflexes and great speed to come out of his line.

#15 - Éskïr Bêrndèvôî - LB - Age 23 - Image Dí Maozöxê Image
An average Farf fullback. You know the type: good joining the attack, pretty defensively irresponsible, very fast, very tireless. He won't be getting much playing time because Manguele will play Exihosahar as much as he can. If Loxjilo gets injured or suspended, expect not to notice too much of a difference: Éskïr is basically Loxjilo but worse at defending and with somewhat better dribbling skills. He's got age on his side, however, so he can, with some luck, just wait things out and eventually get into the starting eleven. So long as a better, younger player doesn't make an appearance in the mean time, at least.

#14 - Vyacheslav Khavarin - CB - Age 27 - Image La Nueva Avenida Image
Vyacheslav is, in fact, Savojar. Through and through. Born and raised in Savojarna, signed for La Nueva Avenida aged 21. He had quite a lot of trouble picking up the language, though by now he can speak it (with a thick accent). He has never identified as a Faroleran, Farf or whatever. However, since the Farfadillis national team does not strictly represent any national entity, eligibility is very easy to attain: anyone can represent Farfadillis. Since there's a terrible dearth of good centerbacks at the moment, and Khavarin didn't look likely to get a call-up from his country of birth, Manguele got to business and convinced him to wear red and black instead. What does the Savojar have going for him? Well, he's massive. Like, almost two meters tall. He can also defend.

#13 - Kolejes Marajis - RB - Age 21 - Image Gortz United Image
"But mister, I'm a winger!" Kolejes complained when informed by Manguele that he would be played out of position throughout the entire cycle. Kolejes is a fast, slippery, technical and somewhat selfish winger who's actually quite good at crosses when he can bother to attempt them instead of trying to dribble his way into the box. Manguele is hoping to retool him into a fullback, with defensive responsibilities and all. He'll also want him to make a lot of crosses. Kolejes is dreading this, but he can't really complain: he probably shouldn't even be here to start with. We'll have to see whether this is a stroke of genius from Manguele or just downright daftness.

#16 - Lőrensz Ziczi - CM - Age 26 - Image René Skaé Image
When the FFFF submitted a fully amateur team to the Eagle's Cup, everyone would've thought they'd lost the plot if anyone had at all believed they'd ever had it in the first place. However, that team's surprisingly good performances, only barely falling short of winning the tournament, led to the call-up of the guy who showed the most promise. He's now one of René Skaé's best players. A complete player with no clear weaknesses when it comes to technical play, and with sometimes quite astonishing playmaking skills. Unfortunately, though, he can be a bit slow and he hasn't got nearly as much gas on his tank as the other players on the team.

#17 - Fujanej Moloses - CM - Age 24 - Image Turoki Tide Image
Another Indujan who's come out of nowhere, much like Loxjilo. Fujanej looks like another possible takilante, which Farves insist is really a thing. He's got a great physique and is surprisingly good at dribbling. Also, he can defend! Expect him to replace rue Cazade occasionally, specially when more control is needed in midfield. It's a shame he's not a particularly gifted passer of the ball (though he's by no means bad!), because that would immediately make him enter world-class territory.

#19 - Tè Xüwân - TK - Age 20 - Image Rülândéá Kôstä Image
Xüwân has been taking the S-FPL by storm lately. He is the first pure takilante (yes, we Farves still insist that's a thing) to have come out of Farfadillis. He's been trained as one since he was at the academy, and he's brilliant at it. He's tireless, he's got great dribbling skills, and he's great at smelling out chances to score by making late runs. If Manguele fancies adding more dynamism to the midfield at the cheap cost of not fielding the best player in the team, Xüwân will be taking playing time off rue Cazade. Still, he's here more as an exciting young prospect than as a player expected to make an immediate impact.

#20 - Folgore Alaminos - LW - Age 26 - Image Jungle Strike Image
The son of ex-NTer Santos Alaminos. His father used to be a sensational fullback for Farfadillis. He was, in fact, arguably Farfadillis' first world-class fullback. Folgore is nothing like his father, however. They share their tactical astuteness, but Folgore can't tackle to save his life. He is, however, a fantastic playmaker and a dangerous presence inside the box. A very typical offensive midfielder, really... although Manguele is insistent on retooling him as a left winger, and is entirely unwilling to listen to what Folgore has to say about that. We'll see how he fares.

#19 - Çè Sêwansé - RW - Age 26 - Image Rülândéá Kôstä Image
A dependable winger who has consistently been above-average for his club, to moderate success. There aren't many other good options out there, so Çè gets the call-up, and is sure to be ecstatic. However, he's got Alxíkí ahead of him in the pecking order... so, well, good luck, Çè! If you think of him as a downgrade of Alxíkí in every possible sense (but not a massive downgrade in any gvien area), you'll get a good idea of how he plays. They are remarkably similar players, only one is much better! They're even the same age.

#7 - Röémün Çídh - ST - Age 27 - Image Rülândéá Kôstä Image
The less-talented-but-slightly-taller-and-stronger-and-that's-gotta-count-for-something version of his older brother Edmün, Röémün is a very hard-working player who you'd be forgiven for thinking is not Farf at all based on his personality. His great poaching skills actually had him outscoring his more talented brother for a good bit. He can be quite wasteful, but nonetheless seems to always carve out some chances for himself when no other player can. Even now, having been relegated to the bench after playing quite dreadfully last cycle, you should expect him to feature quite heavily, specially when the team is looking for an equalizer/winner.

#18 - Eötrenois Rigozsoldos - ST - Age 19 - Image René Skaé Image
One for the future, this one, at least with the competition he'll be facing. Still, there's a lot to be excited about: he seems to relish pressure, and is not afraid to carry his team when needed, as he demonstrated at his boyhood club Rákospalotai. He's devilishly fast, very technical and stunningly clinical for his age. It wouldn't be surprising to see him breaking into the starting eleven within two cycles, specially if he continues his meteoric development.

FORMATION AND TACTICS
Image

Lele Manguele grew up watching the Farf teams of yore, and it's his intent to bring that playing style back. The plan is simple: attack, attack, attack. Yes, more than Pam Scott and Ichi Tuzzio used to. However, he will stick to some of the cornerstones of their playing style which he believes are fundamental for the modern game: pressing and counterpressing. Manguele will want his players to give 110% or die trying, but he will also want them to play with the precision of players who have not been running themselves into the ground.

In goal, Dieje Ibrelaná will play as a sweeper keeper. Though he's not got the best skillset for it, he'll have to adapt: any other kind of goalkeeper would be suicidal with this set-up. In defense, Gëngüdó Pìgülôçô will be tasked with plugging the many leaks in defense that will result from everybody else playing suicidal football. He will not be expected to join the attack, but will be expected to not be useless with the ball at his feet. Exihosahar and Ànáxímane will help him out defensively, but they'll still prefer to play wide and will not shy away from joining the attack (specially Ànáximane). The two of them will be extremely tired by the end of any match, since they'll be running up and down the pitch the entire time, as well as trying to keep as narrow a defensive shape as possible. They'll both look to overlap when they join the attack, but are not afraid to mix things up. They are, in fact, expected to do exactly that.

Mbogo Nørgaard will play as a typical center midfielder, with a slightly defensive slant (for a Farf midfiedler). He'll be expected to dictate play whenever possible, or at least help his partner do it, but he'll also look to arrive late at the box and go for perilous long shots or some smart assist to surprise the opponents. Ígnîgo Çí Xôrí will be tasked with running a lot, recovering the ball, playmaking and generally dominating midfield. Manguele expects him to dictate the tempo, something he is not used to doing. Chances are he'll look for incisive passes every time, but he might very well adapt. On the left wing, Gallegas will be tasked with running up and down the pitch endlessly, but mostly up. He is an extremely dependable winger, and he will be expected to play as one. He can and will make runs into the box and score quite a lot from those, though. On the right wing, Alxìkì will be expected to cut in more often than his left-footed partner on the opposite flank. He sucks at defending, so Manguele won't expect him to track back as much as Emiliano, but this is compensated by the fact that he can tear apart any defense at a moment's notice. Faragó rue Cazade himself will operate as an offensive midfielder who is actually a striker in disguise. He'll try to go for late runs and always be on the watch-out for scoring opportunities, while also supplying his teammates with assists if and when the opportunity presents itself.

Up front, Manguele will want Edmün Çídh to play the role of supporting striker, as he's the most complete striker in the team. Horacio Bastanchury, much more of a goal-oriented player, will be expected to score the most goals. Nobody's sure if Edmün will actually obey him. If he doesn't, then just think of Manguele's tactical set-up as featuring two out-and-out strikers.

The team will look to play a vertiginous game, with few passes wasted on recycling possession. Farves live to have the ball at their feet, but also to do something exciting with it. Manguele doubly so. Expect them to press, counterpress and generally look desperate to recover the ball. The further up the pitch you manage to go with the ball, the more in danger they are. However, if you do lose the ball while attacking them, they'll almost always try to start a counterattack. They're very adept at it with their direct passes and astonishing pace, so try to make your chances count. Finally, the three-man defense will obviously use the off-side trap, as it's a natural choice with such a high defensive line and three players.

When holding a lead, the team will be much more eager to recycle possession and wait patiently for a goal. In that case, passes will still be direct, but less so. When chasing a game, though, expect some of the most urgent football the Multiverse has to offer.

Also, players will be instructed to switch positions often. Manguele does not care about silly things like whether a striker can make for a good fullback. The element of surprise is important, after all. On that note, do bear in mind that Manguele is famous for being unpredictable, so nothing is set in stone beyond the fact that the team will be hellbent on scoring goals.

Kris Boyd. You know him, you love him. But one question we’ve always wondered has to be: what if there were more Kris Boyds? Well, we have answered your question, and we will be running a squad JAM-PACKED with Kris Boyds! I’m sure you’re all delighted.

Rangers’ kit manufacturer for this cycle will be Castorikis, a relatively new manufacturer who have been with Rangers FC since WC86. The home kit is a blue top with white shorts and black socks, and the away kit is a white top with black shorts and blue socks.

Home Ground:
Stadio Ibrosikis. Home of the Gers. With a capacity of around 50,800, Ibrosikis is always filled to the brim with home fans (often thought of as part of the ‘Blue Sea of Ibrosikis’) who love to chant and sing all about their beloved Rangers. Fans can eat and drink at the bars located close to Ibrosikis, and the in-stadium catering located in every stand shall provide an assortment of pies (raw steak, undercooked steak, decently cooked steak, overcooked steak, charcoal) along with non-alcoholic drinks.

Rank: 100th
Formation: 4-3-3
Style: +5 (Full On Boyd)
Manager: Broxi the Bear
Tidbits of Info:
Fanbase:
Rangers FC are known for having a passionate and loud fanbase, usually draped in red, white and blue. They will belt out chants and sing songs everywhere they go, be it their home, the streets, or the stadium. Expect a large turnout of fans when Rangers FC play in other countries, and expect rowdiness and overconfidence.

Location: Rangers FC is a football club, but to participate in the World Cup as a ‘country’, the city of Glaskopolis is ceremoniously ceded to Rangers FC before the start of each tournament they participate in.

Players: It’s all Kris Boyd. Do not worry. It’s all Kris Boyd. Do not worry. It’s all Kris Boyd. Do not worry. It’s all-

Image
GK António Lopes (OF Académica)
Preparing to be full-time No.1, Lopes is a promising goalkeeper who could live up to expectation
GK Rui Patríce (União Leiriense)
Old veteran Patríce is now drawing his Selecção's chapter at a close, now alternating with Lopes. A trusty goalkeeper and unstoppable on his day, Patríce hopes he can be part of the team that finally does it after returning to his hometown through União Leiriense. This is very likely his very final cycle with the National Team
GK Luís Manuel (Sporting CL)
Luís Manuel shows himself to be a promising young keeper with plenty to give, despite having a weakness in his footwork. It is likely to look to see him play in at least one or two games this cycle

Image
LB Rúben Vinagrete )Sporting CL)
A good winger which advances the ball well, the left-back moved from OFA where he won his first title, to the Lions. The main pick in recent World Cups he now has some good competition from the second option, which will be one of the decisions to watch in this Qualifying route
LB Nuno Mendonça (Porto)
One of the most controversial transfers of the season, Mendonça has moved North to Porto FC. Whether this move will be succesful is something else entirely but his call-up for the Selecção isn't unjustified after good showings last time
CB Fernando Ferradura (Tikariot City - TIKARIOT)
One of the defenders of the moment, Ferradura kept his good work up in the Tikariot Premier League earning him his undisputed right as the main centre-back
CB Vítor Grafanil (CD Marítimo)
One of the surprises of last season was Grafanil, playing in Madeira. His remarkable talent in recovering the ball will most certainly prove itself useful over the campaign.
CB Duarte Domingues (Sevilha)

[CB Vilarinho - Pedro Vilar (SCUT)
Pedro Vilar, or Vilarinho, didn't have as good a season as the prior but has still been called up by Grilo due to his consistency when off the bench
RB João Cancela (Sevilha)
RB Ricardo Pedralva (Vitória de Guimarães)

Image
LM Gonçalo Guerra (Vitória de Guimarães)
Guerra started out by taking Horto's position away and has now quickly become one of the team's more developed players being able to cross well from the wing and pass the ball well
LM João Pedro (Bemfica)
Still young, Pedro is Bemfica's sole representation on the squad, doubling down on the good performances that won him Young Player of the Year the season before, despite the recovering reds' midtable finish of 12th.
CM Bruno Fernando (Sporting CL) (C)
Reaching the end of his tenure, captain Bruno Fernando is another whose main objective is to get the team where it needs to be before the end of his career. A great distributor of the ball, also carries a potent long shot
CM João Palhagueira (Valnohar Rovers - TIKARIOT)
Fernando and Caldeirão's old defensive companion, Palhagueira has since risen to the occasion at Valnohar Rovers, Tikariot. A good safety net, knows when to change play and has good vision
CM Pedro Caldeirão (Sporting CL)
Fernando's natural heir at the Selecção, Caldeirão recently won the League. Sharing that great capacity to get the ball ahead, Caldeirão is also more prolific in his netting endeavours, making him a good all-round player
CM Sérgio Azinheira (Porto)
Good passer of the ball and a sturdy rock in Porto FC's midifield
RM Francisco Gama (Sevilha)
Set to retire at the end of next year after the July competitions, Gama has had a good run and is the usually the national reference on the wing
RM Miguel Pereira (SCUT)
Pereira is an avid go getter of the ball, willing to fall back into defence or push ahead to the final third, making him an esteemed and valued member of the team. Set to replace Gama in phases over the course of the campaign, according to analysts.
Luís Miguel (Sp.Bracarense)
Back in the Selecção, Miguel remains a good player being able to demonstrate good link-up and interplay as well as complementing attack well
CAM Bernardo Veiga (Sevilha)
Good attacking midfielder, despite a slight slump in form comparatively to his performances at Sevilha. Position in jeopardy due to the ability of Caldeirão also making this locale work well for him

Image
ST André Silveira (Sevilha)
Despite ageing, Silveira remains constant as the Selecção's best striker, being thorough in his striking abilities
ST Daniel Jota (OF Académica)
His eternal companion, Jota and Silveira have seen plenty of great matches for the Selecção providing a memorable duo up front, setting each other up well. Hopefully in WC89 there's still plenty more to come
ST Gonçalo Paciente (União Leiriense)
Favoured well at the end of the previous qualifying campaign, Paciente shows promise and a future for strikers in the Lusitanian formation
ST Filipe Vieira (Sp.Faro)
Vieira, on a two-year development loan at Faro, has shown some good talent despite being young and his earned him a place in the Selecção AA
ST Nuno Silva (Sporting CL)
Silva has tustled plenty with other forwards for the main positon at his home club, but his work has paid dividends as he's included in the 23-man squad for the first time.

Image
GK Duarte Costa (Porto)
Short but agile, not many would have said much of Duarte Costa when he first came on for the Dragons, but since then, has definitely become one of their most exciting prospects. Despite being on the Reserve side, don't be too surprised if he comes onto the 23-man squad in the later international windows.
DF Ricardo Alves (Bemfica)
Young prospect from the Bemfica academy played well in his starts in April and May of last season
DF José Bento (OF Académica)
Bento is a prospective defender being able to stop shots well and take the hits necessary to prevent conceding
MD Mateus Nogueira (Desp S.Jorge [NLU] - on loan)
On loan for a season, Nogueira is sure to get more playing time at Desportivo de São Jorge, being able to play midfielder and a more defensive role, he's extremely versatile
MD João Cabral (Sporting CL)
Only just missing the cut, Cabral is a good winger and looks set to join the team on a full time basis following Gama's departure and so is working to impress and shine to make it happen
FD Belmiro (Beira-Ria)
Belmiro showed good pace and assist rates for Aveiro's Beira-Ria side, making him a solid candidate for an eventual slot
FD Francisco Machado (Sp.Bracarense)
Latest young talent, Machado is on loan at Bracarense but shows good promise at his extremely young age. Awarded a mention in the reserves following his performances.

THE HOLY EMPIRE WC 89 SQUAD

While the nation took a long break from WCs 8 through 24, the Holy Empire is proud to be the only active nation to have participated in WC 1.

Though it pretends not to be, the nation is equally proud to have won 4 World Cup titles

For the second tournament in a row, the Holy Empire is represented by WC88 runners up...

Cuddly Cthulhu and his Playful Pals

Well, maybe 'cuddly' is the wrong word. They're still eldritch horrors who'll drive the unwary mad; but they're so terribly, terribly misunderstood.

They're actually amazingly polite, enjoy a friendly chat about the weather over a nice cup of tea, dedicated to footballing fair play (to the extent that they'll insist the referee calls a foul or even penalty against them if an opposition player collapses in a gibbering heap from their inability to cope with the non-Euclidean geometry of their dread forms), enjoy a friendly chat about the weather over a nice cup of tea, and completely disavow all of the horrible activities of their gibbering cultists. They're also really sensitive and easily hurt; they might well break out into tears if someone says something mean about them - especially if someone calls them ugly.

I mean yes, at some point in the distant future their time will come, and your ant-like existence will fade into insignificance in face of the cosmic horrors to come.

But not right now; and until that time comes, can't we just be friends?

(OOC1 - think of them as the opposite of the fluffly bunnies; instead of being incredibly cute but super-violent, they instead look rather horrible but are actually really, really lovely)

(OOC2 - being polite, the squad have agreed to manifest as human-sized entities)

(OOC3 - and I promise they won't turn out to be secretly evil, and trying to destroy reality; they really do just want to be your friend)

The Squad

Note: Three of the WC 88 squad have been replaced with new players connected with WC 88 RP; these are clearly highlighted via links to the RP where they first appeared.

Goal:
Yog-Sothoth - 'Yog-Sothoth knows the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the key and guardian of the gate. Past, present, future, all are one in Yog-Sothoth'

Defence:
Shet-Niggurath, the Pony in the Fields With a Thousand Haggis Young - 'We'll have so much fun together, what with tea and scones with jam and clotted cream (all applied in the correct order), polvorice, Forfar bridies, and Scotch pies!'
Tsathoggua - 'amorphous, toad-like god-creature mentioned in the Pnakotic Manuscripts and the Necronomicon and the Commoriom myth-cycle '
Azathoth - 'that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud'

Midfield:
Ghatanothoa - 'I might call it gigantic—tentacled—proboscidian—octopus-eyed—semi-amorphous—plastic—partly squamous and partly rugose—ugh!'
Coothulhu - 'a coo who is in training for eldritchhood'; this bounce-buddy is originally from Audioslavia.
Cthulhu [Captain] - 'a monster of vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind'
Dagon - 'A grotesque humanoid ... Dagon resembles an enormously oversized Deep One with a fish like face, flapping gills and a scaled, slimy hide'
Nig'el - 'a shadowy malevolent electric eel'; may nor may not be the true ruler of Turori - opinions differ.

Forwards:
Hastur the Unspeakable - 'The Feaster from Afar, a black, shriveled, flying monstrosity with tentacles'
Nyarlathotep - 'a tall, lean man of dead black colouration ... wholly devoid of either hair or beard, and wearing as his only garment a shapeless robe'

Substitutes:
A Shoggoth [g] - 'Formless protoplasm able to mock and reflect all forms and organs and processes - viscous agglutinations of bubbling cells'
A Deep One [d] - 'humanoid beings with fish, human and amphibian-like traits, they are described as having grey-ish green, glossy and slippery skin'
A member of the Great Race of Yith [m] - 'immense rugose cones ten feet high, and with head and other organs attached to foot-thick, distensible limbs spreading from the apexes'
An Elder Thing [m] - 'Like a barrel with five bulging ridges in place of staves. Lateral breakages, as of thinnish stalks, are at equator in middle of these ridges. In furrows between ridges are curious growths – combs or wings that fold up and spread out like fans'
A Mi-Go[f] - ' pinkish, fungoid, crustacean-like entities with a "convoluted ellipsoid" composed of pyramided, fleshy rings and covered in antennae where a head would normally be'

Coaches:

The team coach remains World Cup Hall of Fame legend Juan Tzimisces.

The assistant coach remains Starblaydi World Cup Hall of Fame legend Simeone Di Bradini.

Style Modifiers / formation

Frosty football is attacking football. The Holy Empire always plays a 3-5-2 formation using overlapping wingers that turns into 3-3-4 on the counterattack.

[OOC'ly, for the purposes of scorination, the team uses the maximum attacking style modifier permitted by each cup's hosts.]

Kit
The team will wear famous Imperial Gold and Red, as worn by the Holy Empire since WC1...

Image
Image

Home first, away second.

OOC'ly, the kits were designed by Red Blackiland, and the crest by Audioslavia - and I'm entirely grateful; I'm very happy for RB and Audio to take OOC credit. IC'ly, HEFA deny the Mundies had anything to do with it.

Stadium
The Holy Empire plays its home matches in the bejewelled, platinum-domed, and purple stone-walled Imperial Hippodrome, the oldest World Cup venue still in use, and one of the most famous - and impressive - stadiums in the multiverse.

RP instructions:
Have fun and use your imagination - but don't kill anyone, and don't try and launch attacks on the Dreamed Realm; largely because you can't.

Some basic Dreamed Realm RP rules:
Remember that the Dreamed Realm lies entirely outside of Ordinary Reality, and is utterly impervious to harm from what we charmingly call 'mundies'.

Some points to remember about travel to, and playing in, the Dreamed Realm:

1) We control the nature of reality in the Dreamed Realm; reality and time are malleable within the Realm. This isn't used to cheat - all normal rules of football are strenuously followed - but it does have two major side effects:
A) Any injuries to either team in Imperial home matches are immediately healed.
B) No violent or riotous behaviour by visiting fans will be tolerated, unless permission is received in advance (please file applications for violent rioting in triplicate). Any such behaviour undertaken without appropriate permission will find those responsible immediately transported back to Ordinary Reality.

2) Direct travel from ordinary physical reality to the Dreamed Realm is impossible. Some 72 hours before your away qualifier in the Empire, a team of Archregimancy [Eastern Orthodox Christian] monks will arrive in your home stadium and construct a portal to the Dreamed Realm. You may then use this to travel to the Empire at your convenience.

The Euran Football Association’s World Cup 89 Qualifying Squad

Manager: Skorji Oslograd (60, Eura)

As unlikely as it might have seemed not so long ago, Skorji Oslograd has been appointed the eighth permanent manager of the Euran national team in the modern era. The former Bastion, Hornchurch (season loan), FC Axel Heiburg and Revolutionaries centre forward is an icon of Euran football, starring in Eura’s World Cup 66 winning side at the height of an international career that saw him make 168 appearances for Eura, scoring 103 goals. Oslograd then went into coaching and management, where he had a low-key career until taking over as manager of The Askari Union. He improved them significantly and got them playing perhaps their best ever football at the Copa Rushmori, before moving to take over the national team job for the newly formed Euran Oceania Territories, who had only recently started competing in WCC competition.

Although Oslograd was unsuccessful in achieving the dream of getting the Expats into the World Cup, even with a surprisingly talented generation of players (but little squad depth), he can claim to have transformed the Euran dominion’s fortunes for the better and claimed some memorable shock victories with the side. It nearly all came apart during World Cup 85 qualifying when the Expats went on a horrific run of form and Oslograd, plagued also by off the pitch controversies, came close to getting the sack. He was saved by a remarkable return to form during World Cup 86 qualifying and recently has had the Expats securing the best results of their history, raising his profile on the international radar once more.

The blow dealt to Euran footballing pride by failing to qualify for World Cup 87 has been severe and has created something of an inquisition in the national game as to the causes. As part of this the EFA needed a replacement for Lee Sharp following his resignation. Although the FA approached several top tier candidates, it was felt that a truly radical departure from the normal practices of the EFA and its teams was required, leading to this shock wildcard appointment. Oslograd’s appointment has already proven hugely controversial, and it is likely his tenure will be no different. Not much of that will matter if he gets the results the EFA desire, and although patience will be on offer for the overhaul that is required, failure to meet expectations could result in Oslograd’s other contradictions becoming his downfall. He is under immense pressure to prove the doubters wrong, but then again, he’s done it in the past and could do it again.

A decent start in some friendlies and at the Cup of Harmony was somewhat soured by defeat in the final to Mriin, a recurring nightmare of a defeat to Darmen long ago that followed Eura steamrolling all prior opposition in the tournament. Nevertheless, Eura's mostly faultless performance - and a tournament unusually free of antics for an initially sober minded Oslograd - relieved pressure on the new coach. Unfortunately, a promising start to a home Copa Rushmori that followed was brought to a saddening end by penalty heartbreak in the quarterfinal; Eura recovered to gain good form in World Cup 88 qualifying, but stuttered toward the end, then crashed out in the group stages (though at least this time they qualified) and flattered to deceive at the most recent Copa.

Oslograd continues to revamp the squad and attempt the much more difficult task of overcoming the hang ups of the past. At that last Copa, he suddenly pushed Eura more firmly in the direction of his own orthodoxy than he has in the past and is now going even further. The team has adopted a combative, cynical and defensive (but with ruthless counterattacking) 5-3-2.

Assistant Manager: Rhea Fianchetto (45, The Askari Union)

Oslograd’s wife and long term assistant manager from his days in charge of The Askari Union, Fianchetto is little known the public eye but has become a respected coach in her own right among those in the know. Many speculate that she may provide sense to the chaos of what has been dubbed “Skorjiball”; when Oslograd has been in a pit, Fianchetto has been there to bail him out, time and time again.

Squad

Shirt number – name – position – age – international caps – international goals - club
Stats up to date to post-WC88 qualifying friendlies

Goalkeepers

1 - Kevin Belgrave - GK - 36 – 139 caps – Directus
13 – Vance Simm - GK - 28 - 16 caps - Lajuno
30 – Elliot Palmer – GK – 27 – 3 caps – Mountainside

Dropped from most recent squad:
Clarence Webb – GK – 26 – 0 caps – Bastion

Belgrave soldiers on with one of the longest lasting holds on the gloves in Euran football history, which has drawn previously unthinkable grumbles of discontent from the pundit class. He wasn’t at his best in Mytanija, believed by many to have been selected due to his experience and Oslograd not trusting the younger keepers, but was not consistently first choice in the last World Cup campaign. This one may be an opportunity for Simm or Palmer to finally take first choice. Clarence Webb is out of the squad for now.

Defenders

2 – Harry Wheeler – RB – 27 – 15 caps – 2 goals – Oakstone
3 – Lucy Almwood (F) - LB - 26 – 49 caps – 5 goals - Brinemouth (Nephara)
4 – Jack Menard - CB – 24 – 65 caps – 3 goals - 1830 Cathair (Audioslavia)
5 – Kevin Sherwood - CB - 22 - 7 caps - 0 goals - FC Felsenkirchen 1879 (Siovanija & Teusland)
15 – Tanya Green (F) – CB – 27 – 15 caps – 0 goals – Revolutionaries
19 – Alex Coles – CB – 26 – 30 caps – 1 goal – Oakstone
21 – Patrick Read - RB - 22 - 0 caps - 0 goals - Bombarralense (Audioslavia)
23 – Eve Reeve – LB – 26 – 1 cap – 0 goals – Rockridge Phoenix (Brenecia)
25 – Jamie Byrd - CB - 24 - 10 caps - 0 goals - Bastion
27 – Tom Wellington – CB – 27 – 20 caps – 0 goals – Hellinic Rouge (Pasarga)

Dropped from most recent squad:
Dean Steele – CB – 31 – 122 caps – 5 goals - Brinemouth (Nephara)
Alex Ingram - LB - 28 - 16 caps - 0 goals - Spartangrad

Tanya Green and Kevin Sherwood have moved up the order in a big shake up at centreback as Dean Steele drops out of the squad entirely for the first time in many years. Jack Menard remains, not long ago a novice, now the beating heart of this defence. Alex Coles moves to the bench, but Wheeler and Almwood now have secure first team places as Oslograd moves to proper wingbacks rather than experimenting with defensively shoddy wide midfielders. Eve Reeve returns to the squad, her poor debut in the pre-World Cup 88 friendly season forgotten, with Alex Ingram making way for now. Tom Wellington returns to the squad in Steele’s place, but he’s never looked settled in a Eura shirt. Reserves to keep an eye on for a mid-qualifying callup include the likes of the veteran Steele, and youngsters Morgan Hart, Silas Duff and Fred Stephens.

Midfielders

6 – Monica Rowland (F) - CM - 34 - 146 caps – 15 goals – Bastion
7 – Moira Woakes (F) – AM – 31 – 153 caps – 59 goals – Crisisbless (Nephara)
8 – Vincent Robshaw - CM - 31 - 78 caps - 19 goals - AFC Treason (Nephara)
11 – Bobby Malone – RW – 25 – 39 caps – 13 goals – AFC Treason (Nephara)
12 - Damion Bowman – LW – 30 – 102 caps – 39 goals – Crisisbless (Nephara)
16 – Oscar Vincent - CM - 22 - 9 caps - 1 goals - Crossroads (Chromatika)
18 – Sharon Erskine (F) – CDM – 27 – 20 caps – 0 goals – Northern Union (Brenecia)
20 – Travis Coffey - RM - 24 - 7 caps - 1 goal - Ma Alameome (Farfadillis)
22 – Adam Woodman – LW – 24 – 35 caps – 15 goals – Directus
24 - Eamon Mullins - CM - 29 - 3 caps - 0 goals - Herzegovina City FC (Banija)
28 – Chris Ashton – CM – 34 – 16 caps – 3 goals – Marinos Metropolis (Valladares)
29 – Taron Matthews – CDM – 27 – 20 caps – 0 goals – Crossroads (Chromatika)

Dropped from most recent squad:
Clint Rogers - CAM - 30 - 32 caps - 8 goals - Spartangrad
Ben West - AM - 21 - 0 caps - 0 goals – Falourr

A seemingly impervious to reason dislike for Clint Rogers has him out of the reckoning as far as Skorji Oslograd is concerned, though he might take solace in the fact that Vincent Robshaw’s similar enforced exodus was short lived. Youngster Ben West has also gone from the team after a brief stint at the last Copa, though he will surely be back in time. Coming in to replace them are Chris Ashton on yet another chance at 34 following some excellent domestic form, and Taron Matthews, who Skorji no doubt plans to try out again alongside Crossroads teammate Oscar Vincent. Amid a current climate of deep worrying about the strength of Eura’s national pool and the decline of its national team in recent years, few will be encouraged that this set up is so dominated by players plying their trade abroad – only Monica Rowland (who spent half her career as a Nepharan) and Adam Woodman play in Eura currently.*

* OOC: May be subject to distortion as my timeline has WC89 aligned to Euraleague S48, so some of these players may have moved elsewhere, be back in Eura etc.

Forwards

9 – Brian Bond - LW/ST – 34 – 158 caps – 122 goals – Oakstone
10 – Isaac Tomlinson – ST – 30 – 45 caps – 21 goals – Sabrefell Athletic (Nephara)
14 – Stewart Robson – ST – 26 – 13 caps – 5 goals – Directus
17 – Scott Walker – ST – 29 – 20 caps – 7 goals – Northern Union (Brenecia)
26 – Christine Atkinson - ST - 23 - 0 goals - 0 caps – Lajuno

Much like Belgrave in goal, Brian Bond has continued to command the respect and known quality to continue as a top-level international despite being apparently past his best. He has surpassed everyone for goals bar Lee Sharp and Sam Needle. However, he is not currently first choice. Isaac Tomlinson will get one last chance to show he can be Eura’s leading man after an inconsistent international career to date, while Stewart Robson earns a promotion to the starting eleven as a genuinely exciting Euran prospect. This leaves Scott Walker under pressure to earn a first team recall, while Christine Atkinson serves as the wildcard again with the same five strikers selected as at the Copa. Waiting in the wings are veteran Martin Blessed, the hit-and-miss Tommy Sutton and Atkinson’s personal rival Rita Brookfield.

Preferred starting lineup
Note: this does not take into account suspensions, injuries or any other change.

CB – 15. T Green
LCB - 5. K Sherwood
LWB - 3. L Almwood

With the first foreign coach in the national team’s history, the Rekan Eleven will be playing with a new character in this world cup compared the cups of old. Lu Jialan, who’s coming off of a miraculous run with Yuezhou, scoring four points in the world cup proper. Jialan is backed up by a Football Federation hire, Under-18 youth coach Erik Sulzbach. Traits of Jialan’s tactics in World Cup 88 hav been blended with Rekan stars and footballing traditions. On defense, the team will move into a five man backline and work with a mid block. The general shape is different, as are some tactics. Counter pressing has been taken out of the arsenal to a degree. The change is perhaps a great positive late the campaign, and good for any aging players in the lineup. Three center backs line up in normal times, and a roaming license was given to Steffanow Kostessen once the team is attacking. Dejan Wasić can easily come up Ali Faruq drifts towards Kostessen's back third zones.

Offensively, the team is considered by Rekan sport columnist Djoko Weljkowić to be, “less attacking,” than Jowan Stanimirić and Bosko Nowak's lineups. Alternatively the attack is “non existent,” according to former coach Marko Dusan. Jialan would prefer to describe his system as “counterattacking.” Wingbacks continue to be the source of width for Zeta Reka. From the left, Zaur-Luka Igorić will play a strong attacking focused game, with some passing. Right wingback Yuri Kewić is more of a passer and crosser. Crossing to who? Presumably the striking partnership of longtime youngster Bogdan Rawić, who’s looking to pass on hundred caps before he turns twenty six, and partner Jad, who is marked as an attacking midfielder of some notes, but officially a forward. Jad is the one to cross towards due to his height. Right forward Miloš Simeoniwić plays more on the wing, partnering with Kewić to confuse players.

The midfield duo is marked by two players, Stani Gröss, a deep lying passer, and destroyer Nikola Branić. Backup Marko Zup can be a forward facing player if the team needs more punch. While Gröss can swap for the diminutive Popowić, who can play wider. Absent from the lineup is former captain Želmir Kolarowić, who volunteered his captainship and spot in the team, “It is best for my country, if I not get the in way of its tactical vision” Kolarowić said in an official statement relayed to the press. Some were worried a political battle could ensue over team leadership. However, team voted captain Wlad Wlad and coach Jialan reportedly have developed a solid rapport shortly after Kolarowić’s retirement from the national team. “The young man is solid,” Jialan said in a press conference where Wlad Wlad was unveiled as the new captain.

“The changes may take time to learn,” Djoko Weljkowić wrote in a column before game one “but the team has enough quality to rise up. Over twenty players playing in the top flights of a top thirty two league, and eight players are in the top ten percent of clubs in the IFCF rankings. Four players from the defending league champions in Zeta Reka make up these numbers. The four of them, and no doubt the others, are more than capable of playing in the long haul. Champions League and Challengers’ Cup performances prove these players are good.” Others are critical of the team, former head coach of the national team Marko Dusan, who finished second in a baptism of fire and went to the knockouts of the Cup of Harmony, publicly lambasted the absence of Želmir Kolarowić, a lack of attack, and an odd scheme, “We have Marko Zup still playing, but the captain didn’t fit the schemes? How?” So far, no comment from Lu Jialan has come to light, though former keeping coach Alek Klopp claims to have had the police called on him after telling Dusan to “Die painfully” on social media platform Twii.tur. Only time will answer these disputes.
Uniforms

A new coach, new defensive and offensive lines, and brand new uniforms. Unlike in times past Čast was not commissioned to make the uniforms. The competitive bidding process gave little known sportswear company Početak: 19.11 their largest job ever. Početak was founded by a subsidiary of the Preobrazhenskys, a major family in Rekan finance. Početak have never made a national team uniform before, and mostly focus on indoor sports such as basketball and handball. The design of their shirt mimics the “Reka 400” design used by the national team in Campionato Esportiva 30, but with cheeper materials.
