CAMPEONATO RUSHMORI JUVENIL
SUB-17 & SUB-20

This is the thread for the Campeonato Rushmori Juvenil, the Rushmori Youth Championships. These are two association football competitions for the region of Rushmore, in two formats: Under-17s and Under-20s. National teams will compete with their squads of players up to the ages of 17 or 20, with the winners being recognised as the Rushmori champions for that category. The championships will run roughly concurrently with each edition of the Copa Rushmori.

In scorination terms, and to reflect the volatile nature of youth football, the Sub-17 category will not use ranks at all, while the Sub-20 will use 20% of the current Copa Rushmori rankings. Hosts for each edition will be requested and assigned; they may use any NSFS or SQIS-derived formula and are free to experiment with formats, but must follow a simple set of rules such as third-party knockout scorination. These are good competitions for beginner hosts, as they're a low-pressure, low-RP environment with which to come to grips with hosting.

Entrants will sign up once and then be automatically entered into subsequent editions unless they Cease To Exist, move regions, or withdraw their signup. One puppet nation will be allowed per user. All results will be posted in this thread and, although these are intended to be RP-light competitions, any squads or other related RP may also be posted here.

If you would like to sign up for the Campeonatos, or register your interest in hosting an edition, please telegram or DM this account (Astograth) at any time. Posts related to the Campeonatos, such as rosters or RPs, may be posted in this thread, though in principle the tournaments do not use RP bonus.

Campeonato Rushmori Juvenil Sub-17 XII

Welcome to Bollonich

Overview

The Republic of Bollonich , is a small nation located on the northern side of Rushmore to the east of Græntfjall and the north of Weatherdon. The Republic of Bollonich is sparsely populated with a large proportion of the nation being covered in coniferous forests and arid regions. Bollonich is a highly advanced nation scientifically and economically. 90% of the Bollonischian population are habited on the coasts on the northern side. Bollonich’s capital city Vreton, is a lavish location known throughout the multiverse as the stop for tourists passing by.

Players and Tourists Guidelines

Drug Policy - Bollonich has a relatively liberal drug policy, with marijuana sold throughout the nation. Any drugs that are found in the presence of players or tourists while arriving into Bollonich shall be returned on inspection if the substance is permitted by law. If it is not, the substance shall be confiscated. The presence of such a substance after arrival shall be subject to national law and dependent on the severity of the substance owned.
Alcohol policy - All people above 18 can consume and own alcohol. The last drink can be served at 2 am in the night after which all pubs must close. Identification of your age is required to purchase alcohol and ID maybe required for consumption. The Blood alcohol content for driving is 0.03%, above which a person is not legally allowed to drive.

Transportation

The matches that shall be played across two venues in two cities. The players shall be commuting with the means of airplanes, commercial versions of which shall also be available to tourists. If a person wishes not to avail Bollonich’s airlines, they can use Bollonich’s public transport system with the NCHS, being vastly available. Rental cars or motorbikes are also available however to rent one of these a person will need to display his or her driving license.
For within city commute, a person is welcome to use Bollonich’s underground system of subways, which costs a small fee for tourists. Cycles are also widely available for rent across Bollonischian cities.
For inter city transit a separate option also exists, that of national railways. Some passenger railways are free of cost while others require a small fee, as such trains are owned by privatised companies.

Tourism

If you are travelling to Bollonich, you might want to extend your stay to view some of the beauties here. Fermont is home to the National History Museum where a person new to Bollonich can learn all about our history and have a deeper understanding. Among educational locations such as this, another is the Bollonischian Cultural Centre located in Vreton which has information all about the culture and traditions. Visiting monuments like the Founders Statue located at Marda should be something on your bucket list.
The other major tourist attraction are the beaches and coniferous forests of Bollonich. The northern coast of Bollonich is blessed with a number of beaches and is a tourist hotspot with Kibnoto beach near Vreton being highly famous. The coniferous forests located towards the south eastern side of Bollonich are endowed with a vast variety of flora and fauna. The Great Bollosch Tiger are also found here. The Akusha National Park located near Akusha is the largest national park in Bollonich which receives a large number of tourists every year.

People and Living Facilities

The People of Bollonich are extremely friendly and are willing to help out anyone, however they are also very lawful and don’t like to break the law for anyone or anything. They can converse in English or the Bollonischian native language. The people speak nicely, however if you enter a political discussion with a Bollonischian don’t expect them to be nice to you as Bolloischians are highly passionate about politics and anything remotely related to it.
If you are visiting Bollonich, you will need a place to stay, and you could avail the 5 star Government line of hotels presented by the Bollonischian Department of Hotels. To get a room in any of these hotels you will need to produce your ID, either digitally or physically. The locals shall also be able to point you to the local home stay or such other places. All hotels and home stays are Government approved for safety, and other facilities.

Sporting Culture

The Bollonischian people are highly passionate about sports, and you are bound to find a following for each and every sport. The most popular sport by far is football which is nearly followed by all sports fans, which also includes some of the most passionate fans ever. The rivalry between Vreton United and Vreton City is the most famous and revered among all. It has also led to the phrase, “If you see two people fighting they must be United and City fans.” Not a very elegant phrase but a phrase nonetheless.
The second place is held by two sports, mainly cricket and tennis. Cricket is a sport that is either loved or hated by most Bollonischians, and has a fair number of people from both camps. Tennis a sport mainly enjoyed by casual sports lovers and normal people, generally seen as a sport of the rich people.

EDIT HISTORY:
1. Valladares was listed as having 10 points incorrectly. This had no effect in the results or seeding. Corrected to 9 points.
2. Added edit history.
3. Fixed a hanging size tag on the Edit History.
4. It was brought to my attention that I had made a error in scorinating Group B's Matchday 1. I initially had Græntfjall playing Hispinas and Cassadaigua playing Darmen. However, I meant to have Græntfjall playing Darmen and Cassadaigua playing Hispinas. Once the error was discovered I rescorinated the matches. This changed the final standings for Group B, and subsequently some knockout stage match-ups. I then rescorinated the effected matches in the knockout stages. In the interest of transparency I have included the original results in the spoiler tag below.

I am deeply sorry for the mistake.

5. Group B Goal Differential and Points were changed on the results. It was a cosmetic error in the pasting, and did not effect the results. I then went in and corrected Valladares GD in the results. This did not effect the results.

Diverse Snow Pups teams show spirit in quarter-final runs

Græntfjall’s under-17 and under-20 teams had successful runs in the Campeanato Rushmori Juvenil, marking the White Winter Queendom’s first participation in the newly revived regional youth tournaments. While the senior team was busy crashing out of the Campeanato Rushmori in Mytanija at the Round of 16 – for the fourth successive time – both youth teams made it one step further than the grown-up Snow Wolves managed.

The Under-17 tournament in Bollonich marked the first Grænfjaller football team sent to the former adversarial state, in a sign of increasingly warmer relations between the two nations that had begun to thaw at the Handball World Cup. Led by center back Klængur Ulfarsson, the team had a strong group stage run with 3 wins, 1 draw, and the sole loss coming against Eura.

The team was also notably more diverse than previous youth squads. Manumakali’i Akua Kamusson, of Græntfjaller Multinesian descent, was part of the 23 but not did not play, but when Harmony Serpentmane came on as a substitute against Oberour Ar Moro she became the second Kamdyr player to wear the blue-and-white, while Itzchitl Svennsson, who started the first three games alongside Ulfarsson in central defense, achieved the unusual feat of becoming the first Verdean of indigenous descent to play international football – for Græntfjall, rather than Montaña Verde. A more familiar name was Joel Wolfgangsson, younger brother of Lilly and Julia, who became the third member of the family to represent the country.

However, the biggest headlines followed an unfortunate red card for goalkeeper Laurenz Levisson against The Askari Union. It led to Hanif Anwarsson el-Said being brought on as a replacement keeper, in so doing becoming the first Muslim to represent Græntfjall in international sport. He saved the subsequent penalty and was picked as a starter for the following game, where he saved a further two penalties in a tense shootout against Oberour Ar Moro.

Nusaiba Jihaadsdóttir el-Siddiqui, the first Græntfjaller Muslim to serve as a government minister, called Hanif’s journey from his parents’ arrival in the White Winter Queendom as Akhdari refugees “inspiring”, but called on web giant Qardinal to investigate the small minority of fans who responded with bigoted comments on social media. Hanif, a player in the GT Molding youth system, said he was “honored” to break new ground but focussed on football first.

Unfortunately, the gruelling play-off encounter seemed to drain the young squad, and in the subsequent quarter-final they were rolled 3–0 by a strong Cabo Azure team. But it was an exciting experience overall for the young players who gained valuable match experience. Laura Sævarsdóttir showed surprisingly icy cool for a 15 year old to strike the winning penalty in the shootout. Striker Viðar Emiliosson scored 4 goals, while Ulfarsson, at age 16 already at least a ‘medium-sized fucking Græntfjaller’, led manfully throughout.

The under-20 team travelled to Oberour Ar Moro for their tournament. Players had more experience, with 9 members of the squad having represented the Under-18 Snow Pups in Zeta Reka & Hügeltaldom, and 3 of them at the subsequent Under-21 team at the 50th Di Bradini Cup; 8 players are signed or loaned to foreign clubs. Once again, it was a team that struck a blow for diversity, featuring Kamdyr trailblazer Jasmijn Spiderlair, and Mbuyu Tshibangusson, the Korsbach defensive midfielder who became the first black Græntfjaller international when he appeared as a substitute against Darmen.

The team were undefeated in the group stage, winning 4 of 5 including getting a little revenge for their younger halves by thrashing Cabo Azure 6–1. They lost center back Ívan Þorvaldsson early, to an injury incurred in the tournament opener against Darmen, but had acquitted themselves well to make the quarter-finals, where a rematch with a strong Cassadaigua team proved a game too far, the junior Fillies running away 3–1 winners.

It was a disappointing tournament for much-hyped striker Röskvi Tyrfingsson, whose size and strength have drawn comparisons to Jason Þórhallursson, but who also seems to have taken after his idol in disappointing at regionals, going goalless. GPL Young Player of the Season Kæja Finnvarðsdóttir and Þrastar Bjarnlaugsson led the scoring with 3 goals apiece, all 3 of Kæja’s from the penalty spot. Asbjørn Vilbjörnsson, son of Snow Wolves legend Vilbjörn Hjörleifursson, filled in for Ívan to provide the prospect of some generational inheritance to come at the senior level.

Overall, the CRJ experience proved worth the investment in youth football announced four(ish) years ago at the Di Bradini Cup, with KG giving young players valuable experience of playing competitive football at international level, and learning more about the prospects who will shape tomorrow’s game. Mbuyu and Hanif broke new social barriers. And, perhaps most importantly, Græntfjall finally reached the quarter-final of a Copa Rushmori! Sort of.

Aside from James January's three goal performance, most other players were rather disapointing. Stuart Cocks was particularly prone to being caught out of postition and is at least partly responsible for five of Darmen's seven goals against. Goalkeeper Reg Daniel deserves another look, he made some good saves but was not helped by his back four. Captain Bryce McAdams tried his best to get his team to perform better, but was unable to inspire them. Among the subs, Flavien Navarro was the most impressive with several key tackles.

Tor Tong Lee's granddaughter, Marianne, is a star for the future. She scored three goals in this tournament and showed some of the same instincts and qualities of her grandfather at this tournament. However, she needs to improve her stamina going forward, she was rarely effective in the second half. Sterling Allsopp also looked good in midfield, consistently passing to players with open space around them and keeping the attack alive. Ildefonso Daube lacked confidence in goal, Tucker Hoover made six saves in his only half of play.

A more detailed report will be forthcoming within the next two days.

Campeonato Rushmori Juvenil Sub-17 XIII

Welcome to Ardengard!

Overview

Located on the northern side of Rushmore, bordered on three sides by Weatherdon, Bollonich and Crolacia, the Demoratic Republic of Ardengard is a free home to all creatures, irrespective of species, race, ethnicities, background, belief, gender…. am I missing anything?
From the snow-covered peaks of the Murian Mountains to the rich fertile soil of the Gondurian Plains; from the busy – hustling cities to the relaxing getaways…. <tries to think of a non-cringe ending> Ardengard is known as the Land of Extremes. (Barring socio-economic status of the people.)
The capital of Ardengard is Shirefton, while Messitun is widely considered the footballing hub of the nation.

Sporting Culture

Sports lies at the core of Ardengardian culture. The enthusiasm Ardengardians show for any sport – old or new – is not displayed in any other sphere, even by a politician campaigning before an election. If one randomly asked an Ardengardian for the most popular sports in the country, the answer would inevitably be: Football, then cricket and tennis battling it out for second and third, and basketball in fourth. The recent rise of handball is notable as well, especially with the national team’s entertaining run in their maiden HWC.
The Ardengardian Football League is the main domestic event in Ardengard. Consisting of four tiers and sixteen top sides, the fast paced style of play in the league has a great following. If nothing else the rivalry between sides Atletski Messitun and Serumpur FC is enough to keep the sport going. The recent rise of Shirefton FC, owned by Bollonishcian oil company Caltex, adds an interesting third dimension to the quest for the best footballing team each year.

Tourism

Players and fans alike may look for places to let go of tensions and simply relax. Ardengard has a number of those to be sure. The best spot for a weekend getaway would be Lothlerium. Located right off the Glisten Sea, its sandy beaches, recreational activities and sublime weather make it Ardengard’s top tourist destination.
If the hot sun and cool breeze isn’t quite your thing, maybe the Murian Mountains would be more towards your liking. For casual tourists, hikes – with and without guides – are available in the lower hills and mountains. For those looking for something more challenging, activities like mountain climbing and rock climbing are provided for as well.

Transport

Domestic flights are available for transport to all match locations, along with other major cities. If one is looking for a slower form of travel, the railway system in Ardengard is just what you need. Countless bridges and tunnels make a trip by train an experience to remember. Special mention must be made of the route from Lothlerium to Messitun, going over the Glisten Sea and, at times, under water.

Stadiums

Group A: Camp Atletski, Messitun
Group B: The Red Dome, Rudenburg
Group C: Caltex International Stadium, Shirefton

Campeonato Rushmori Juvenil Sub-20 XIII

Dreamland

Dreamland is the capital city of Brookstation located in central Brookstation. The parliamentary houses are located here. Dreamland has a number of sporting facilities. Rock music and live shows are a commonplace in Dreamland. If you are in Dreamland, don't forget to pay a visit to the underground Metro and the National Museum and the Science Planetarium. Brookstation's biggest football stadium, the Pop Smoke Stadium (capacity- 100,000) is located here. Another beautiful stadium, the home stadium of Dreamland City, the Glass Animals Park (capacity- 44,000) is also located in Dreamland. The Pop Smoke Stadium and Glass Animals Park will host the games of Group A and D respectively.

Other side of Paradise

When Bashar Jackson and his crew came to Brookstation, the first settlement they found was in current day Dreamland. Dreamland looked like paradise to him but just in the outskirts, there was a completely swampy land filled with waste and that is how the city got its infamous name. Today other side of paradise is one of the most developed city in Brookstation and ironically it is the cleanest city too. The home club of this city is the current champions of the Twin Premier League. The Joseph Joestar Stadium, named after the former president of Brookstation will host the games of Group B.

Norweigan wood
This city is located on the Northern part of Brookstation. Surrounded by green hills and known for its exquisite wildlife, this city is the most popular tourist destination of Brookstation. Bird Watching and Sight Seeing in National Parks is popular in Norweigan Wood. The stadium, Octopus' Garden (cap 100,000) is itself a beauty as it is situated on a platform in the middle of the River James. The Stadium is known for hosting operas, acts and obviously performances from Rock n' Roll bands. This stadium will host the matches of Group C.

Scouting Analysis: Goals are apparently a thing scored by other teams. We should probably correct that misconception.

14th CAMPEONATO RUSHMORI JUVENIL SUB-20

Welcome to the White Winter Queendom of Græntfjall.

Football is traditionally a summer sport in Græntfjall, and this tournament is being held in late summer once the domestic fixtures are finished, meaning the autumn chill is starting to set in. Græntfjall lies on the northern side of Pavola, in Rushmore; despite lying on the temperate meridian, the combination of the fierce winds coming off the Komodo Channel and the tall Græntfjaller Alps, forming a natural protective border, have created a localized climate of extreme cold even in summer. You can expect temperatures in the single figures (centigrade; 40s Fahrenheit); rain or sleet, and towards the end of the tournament flakes of snow in the air; and bitter wind-chill.

Græntfjallers are hardy Nords, descended (in their mythic lore) from Viking age sackers and salvagers. The country has relatively recently emerged from decades of communist oppression, but has entered the 21st century with a surging economy, rising social freedoms, and new, if slightly complex, democratic politics. The royal family was reinstalled and Queen Júlíana sits on the throne, reigning in a mostly ceremonial role, while real power is located in the Thing, the national parliament where Prime Minister Kaija Michaelsdóttir leads a coalition of center-right parties.

Græntfjall is famous for continuing whaling long after most other countries had abandoned the barbaric practice, but in reality whale meat is a rare commodity in modern Græntfjall and tourists are far more likely to encounter imitation products like lab-grown “Incomprehensible Whaleburger” or purely synthetic “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Blubber!”. Otherwise, the diet tends towards plain, hearty fare. Strong spices and fresh fruits are available, but can be expensive as they are almost wholly dependent on imports. Græntfjallers have a strong tradition of beer drinking; for hard liquors, various clear grain alcohols are the general preference. Smoking is permitted but not widely practised; marijuana is legal.

Græntfjaller society can be quite conservative, especially outside of the major cities. Generally speaking, the further west one travels, the more sympathies to life under the old communist regime you will find expressed; to the east, more virulent anti-communism prevails. The state religion is Roman Catholicism. The vast majority of Græntfjallers are Catholic, though folk -traditions incorporating Norse mythology are also common. Homosexuality is legal and homophobic hate crimes both strictly policed and thankfully rare. Rigid gender norms prevail in some strata of society (especially in the south) and are no more obvious than in the country’s naming traditions, which are strictly patronymic: -son surnames for men, -dóttir for women, -bur for gender-neutral persons.

Græntfjallers can be perceived as a bit mercenary. The country has a long history of merchant trading (and an intermittent history of ruthless piracy) and you will generally find that the smiles of your hosts extend only as far as the krónor in your pocket. Color-based racism is sadly not unknown, anti-Islamic sentiment is strong, and there is a bristling tide of anti-immigrant agitation in some working class districts of the major cities, as well as agitation over a million refugees who have arrived in the southeast over the last couple of years. Freedom of expression is enshrined in the constitution but in practice there are some restrictions, two of the most notable being a ban on the public display of swastikas, hammers-and-sickles, trans pride flags, and other such extremist political imagery; and a prohibition on face coverings widely interpreted as a ‘burqa ban’.

Football is the most popular sport in the country. The fiercest domestic rivalry is between the North Háttmark clubs Gunzlach and Steinaux, who regularly vie for the title in the Græntfaller Premier League, along western team Altendalur and South Háttmark side GT Molding, the current champions. Græntfaller fans are generally fairly welcoming of foreign teams and tend to be appreciative of skills that their own rather leaden players (often stereotyped, more or less fondly, as “Big Fucking Græntfallers”) are incapable of. Græntfall does not have a tradition of football hooliganism or firms, and crowd control at games will be strict to prevent any such trouble. Moderate alcohol consumption is permitted in most stadiums.

Venues

Grander International Arena
The recently built 50,001 seater is home of Steinaux, "the Sausages". Their name is rooted in the working class meat processing and dock warehouse district, which has undergone substantial renovation. Unlike rivals Gunzlach across the river, Steinaux is now located in an upmarket neighborhood with tech and pharma jobs booming. The club’s fortunes are however on the turn, slipping down the table after winning 3 consecutive titles, and losing their two star strikers (respectively, transferring across town to their rivals, and eaten by a kraken).

Grand National Arena
The main national stadium, the 50,000 seater used to be the country's only international-level sports facility. It is the most famous stadium in the country and home of multiple time champions Gunzlach, "the Gunners". The name reflects their origins in the old military arsenal stationed there. On the north side of Háttmark, the GNA is built in what remains a fairly conservative, working-class district, with rumblings of disquiet over recent immigrant arrivals and rapid house price rises in the wake of gentrification.

GT Estadio Fútbol De Musarañas De Oro [non-commercial name: Estadio Fútbol De Musarañas De Oro][/b]
The new home of GT Molding, "the Gold Shrews", and Korsbach's south Háttmark rivals. Built by Tequiloan multinational Grupo Taxhavn and unpronouncable to the locals, the stadium is by far the biggest in the country (which a capacity of close to 70,000). Lush, well appointed – is “chintzy” pushing it too far?

Florus Stadion [non-commercial name: Altendalur Stadion]
Altendalur is a northwest port city and cultural hub of the West, a region that generally feels under the political thrall of the dominant East. It was built on whaling: the stadium is literally built on whaling, as a massive whale spine ornaments the main entrance gate. Home of one of the top GPL sides, nicknamed the Chessmen, the seats are in alternate black and white check patterns.

Fjistjing Stadion
Home to Hintersfjörður, who are routinely a yo-yo team: one of the strongest sub-GPL teams, and yet usually being relegated immediately upon winning promotion from the Division 1. The Fjistjing Stadion is relatively new to hosting international football and did not feature during the Copa Rushmori rotation, debuting instead at the Baptism of Fire 74. It is well suited to all weather conditions, with a fully retractable roof. Hintersfjörður lies in the suburbs of Altendalur and has a generally similar cultural disposition, with entrenched hostility to Eastern elites and little interest in outsiders.

Fjlarkfjall Arena
Þingsnitz, another yo-yo side seeming to miss that key ingredient for a step up to GPL level, play their home games at Fjlarkfjall. Þingsnitz is a small coastal city a few miles east of Altendalur, on the other side of the other side of the Bay of Blood. The two enjoy a healthy rivalry in matters football and otherwise. The Fjlarkfjall Arena also made its debut hosting international football at the Baptism of Fire; despite its small size and lack of roof, it’s otherwise well appointed for the home arena of a side only recently promoted to the GPL. Culturally, the fishing port is much more amenable to visitors than their cross-bay neighbors.

OptiFone Arena [non-commercial name: Folte Arena]
Folte is a market town that lies just south of Aigsvinger, the city that sits at the fork of the Odinsfluss River. Much like the city, Folte is a town that embodies traditions of both the East and West: the market bringing fresh produce from the West, the commuter hub going to middle class jobs in the East. The popular local team, the Striders, are one of the most internationally mixed. A huge Catholic church dominates the skyline and on clear days service bells can be heard during matches.

Laxenvöllur
Mühlrich is the club that's most representative of the conservative alpine traditions of the country. Based in the suburbs of Kyrkdorf, the "last city before the mountains", it's an old, traditional club, and the slightly fusty stadium reflects that. Lots of (now fairly dusty, as the Turtles have seen better days) trophies in the cabinet, hard seats, and smoking still permitted in certain areas. Interestingly, the stadium itself isn't that old as it has burned down four times. Smoking remains stubbornly permitted. The Turtle Ultras are the most radical Ultras in the country. Racist chanting has mostly been stamped out, but it's not a place to go for provoking intellectual discourse.

VG Arena [non-commercial name: Maigburg Arena]
One of the bigger arenas, in fact the third largest after the GNA/GIA. The Maigburg club is based in the suburbs of Waltenberg, the biggest university city, and reflects its academic traditions, middle-class professions, and fierce anti-communism. The "Catbear" ultras are ferociously loyal (and occasionally ferociously xenophobic). The stadium is big but old and run-down. A multi-purpose arena, it hosts many sports including athletics, notably the final lap of the Waltenberg Marathon.

Sanktjakobvöllur
Another Háttmark arena, but this time based in the south. Háttmark is the capital city of Græntfjall, a bustling port city. The south is more residential than the mainly industrial north. Architecturally, it bore the brunt of the violence that engulfed the tail end of the communist regime: sadly, a lot of the buildings you'll see are very new, but that also testifies to the major economic boom the city is undergoing. This hasn't extended to Korsbach's frankly decrepit arena.

Hagejoki Play Park
A large but uninspiring stadium, the Play Park is home to the Harlequins, perennially bouncing between Division 1 and the GPL. Hagejoki is another Háttmark suburb, this one located north of the river. It lies on the coast at the far eastern edge of the city limits. Home of the main housing blocks of the University of Háttmark, it has a large student population. It hasn’t undergone the urban renovation of nearby Steinaux – frankly, it’s something of a dump – but it has a lively nightlife.

Kuodorf MSK Football Arena
Kuodorf is a suburb of Háttmark, the capital, located to the south east. Unlike the north of the river industrial suburbs it’s always been affluent. The Kuodorf MSK has purpose-built arenas for individual sports; the Football Arena is small but well-appointed. Set amid quaint villas and with a housing density that would make an urban planner sit down and weep, it’s one of the more pleasant group stage settings.

Frei Stadion
Located in the southwest city of Búðarberg, the capital of Fliserboding, a broad, flat agricultural plain that is geographically and at times culturally at odds with the rest of Græntfjall. Perceived as the home of a rump pro-communist minority by the rest of the country. The local club, Fliserboding, is chiefly notable for their tradition of throwing cabbages on the field before each game. The stadium, while pretty, smells terrible as a result.

New Skoðarhüb [non-commercial name: Hartburg New Park]
Located in Hartburg, the gateway to Lake Viljan. Bypassing the Alps, which dominate the southern half of the country, requires going through the Estdal Gate, once a turnpike, now one of the busiest commercial bridges in the country, connecting the industrial heartlands with the Rushmori interior. That name lives on in the Ducks, the team whose sponsors Skoðar Optik have invested heavily in foreign managers, players, and now a new stadium. Not state of the art by international standards, but some of the lifts actually work and the coffee machine does cappucinos! Witchcraft!!

PR-1070 Platz
Located in Hartburg, the gateway city to the interior. Its home team, Oost-Hartburg, fared much less well than Estdal in the recent GPL, though, so the locals are thirsting for some good football action. It's the smallest stadium to be hosting games, but has good amenities thanks to its connections with prosperous local businesses.

TQG Langvöllur Arena [non-commercial name: Langvöllur Arena]
The Langvöllur Arena (the second Arena is redundant as völlur means Arena in Græntfjaller, but the name persists for some reason) is in the exclave of Hofvinger, which lies the other side of the Komodo Channel to mainland Græntfjall. As such, the "Northern Wolves" of Hofvinger have always considered themselves a bit different (i.e. superior) to the soft southerners. It is absolutely freezing even in summer owing to the wind patterns. Teams will travel via ferry from Háttmark, assuming the sea isn't ice-locked.

Given the limited RPing associated with the tournament, venues have not been assigned. You may RP your games taking place at any stadium from the above list, providing it does not clash with another RPed fixture on the same day.

Format

The tournament is seeded based on adult CR ranks (OOC: and scorinated using such ranks scaled down). With 23 teams in the competition, a 23 team single group stage had been carefully scheduled, only for the Young Mountaineers of Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland to burst in at the last moment and upset the plan. Regrettably, therefore, a considerably more awkward group stage involving 4 groups of 6 has been created. Single round robin, with the top two from each group advancing. Tiebreakers are GD, H2H, GF (because style modifiers are not used in this tournament, GF can be used), followed by coin toss. The knockouts will not be seeded, but will instead be A1 v D2 with the winner playing the winner of B1 v C2, etc.

Welcome to Sanford. Welcome to Campeonato Rushmori Juvenil XV Sub-20.

Tournament format

The format Sanford used to bid for Copa Rushmori XLI will be used for Campeonato Rushmori Juvenil XV Sub-20, with two exceptions, each related to venues. First, all matches throughout the tournament will be hosted in Sanford — including all group stage matches — as there is insufficient interest in a youth tournament to justify the additional logistical and financial strain for players, coaches, fans, federations, and sponsors that the original bid’s international format would have created. Second, four stadia which had not been scheduled to host Copa Rushmori matches will be used for this tournament, both due to the additional matches to be held in Sanford and due to the fact that a broader range of stadia can host a youth international tournament than a full international tournament.

With these exceptions in mind, the full format explanation can be found in the appendices. The tournament will be conducted in three stages: the group stage, the zonal knockout stage, and the panregional stage. With twenty-four teams, the group stage will consist of four single round robin groups of six teams, with each team allocated to its group on the basis of its geographic subregion or zone. The zonal knockout stage will consist of two rounds. The second-place teams of each group will play the third-place teams from their respective group in the zonal playoff, and the winner of the zonal playoff will face its group’s first-place team in the zonal final, to crown a zonal champion. Finally, a single-elimination panregional stage will be contested among the four zonal champions and will consist of two semifinals, a third-place match, and a grand final, to crown a single Rushmori youth champion of champions for the sub-20 division.

Best of luck to all. It is our hope you enjoy Campeonato Rushmori Juvenil XV Sub-20 in Sanford.

Stadium information

The tournament will be hosted at twelve stadia throughout Sanford. All nine venues which host Sanford PREMIER League clubs will host tournament matches. The three additional stadia are located in Sanford Falls, the nation’s largest city; Redlin, the nation’s largest city not to host a Sanford PREMIER League club; and Elk Plains, the nation’s second-largest city not to host a Sanford PREMIER League club and the nation’s capital. The twelve stadia have been divided into four geographic clusters, and each team will play all their group stage and, if applicable, zonal knockout stage matches within their zone’s three stadia. Each stadium will host between five and seven matches: five group stage matches, at most one zonal knockout match, and at most one panregional stage match. All panregional stage matches will be hosted in Sanford Falls.

Northern Zone stadia

Roncalli Field is a 6000-capacity stadium in Granite City. It regularly hosts Northern of the Sanford PREMIER League. It is one of Sanford’s newest stadia, built five years ago to coincide with the foundation of the Sanford PREMIER League. It places a priority on individualized fan experiences, with one parking lot dedicated for tailgaters and another for bouncy castles, and sections of seating including general admission, reserved, club level, loge level, suite level, and party deck seating. It will host the third Northern Group fixture listed on each group stage matchday, as well as the Northern Zone final.

Redlin Stadium is a 5000-capacity stadium in Redlin. It is a dual-use stadium which most commonly hosts baseball. Built seventy-nine years ago, it is the oldest stadium in use at this tournament. At the time, fiscally interventionist government policy attempted to stimulate the economy by financing large public works projects, such as Redlin Stadium. The stadium has long been used as a baseball stadium, and it has been used as a football stadium in the past. It was designed to accommodate both sports. Considering the size of Redlin and of Redlin Stadium, the venue has been suggested as the most viable existing potential home ground for a Sanford PREMIER League team if expansion or relocation is ever considered. It will host the second Northern Group fixture listed on each group stage matchday, as well as the Northern Zone playoff.

Sertoma Field is a 2500-capacity stadium in Elk Plains. It is primarily used as a baseball stadium. Built sixty-nine years ago, it is the second-oldest stadium in use at this tournament. The Sertoma Field site is part of a public park known as Sertoma Park. Sertoma Field has always been a novelty in Sanfordan sports, as it is most famous not for the field itself but for what’s just across the street: the World’s Largest Pheasant. It’s exactly what it sounds like: a 28-foot-high, 40-foot-long, 22-ton statue of a pheasant which has loomed over the nation’s capital for the past sixty years. Inside, the place is a curiosity, too. For one thing, the main section of seating is made of a single, vast swathe of welded steel. Fans are recommended to bring blankets, cushions, or other forms of protection from the summer heat radiating from the metal. Finally, when configured as a baseball stadium, some of the light towers are actually in the field of play. The stadium’s outfield fence was replaced in preparation for this tournament, as it had been damaged in a flood, and the field’s dimensions were expanded to accommodate a football pitch. Temporary seating was also installed for this tournament. It will host the first Northern Group fixture listed on each group stage matchday.

Pavolan Zone stadia

Tommy Sanford PREMIER Stadium is a 33700-capacity retractable-roof stadium in Sanford Falls. It regularly hosts Sanford Falls PREMIER of the Sanford PREMIER League. It is one of Sanford’s newest stadia, built five years ago to coincide with the foundation of the Sanford PREMIER League and of the club. It was built on the same complex as Hamlin Woods Field, though it is very different from any other venue in the country. It is Sanford’s largest sports stadium of any kind, by far, and can fit five percent of the nation’s population within its seats. It is Sanford’s most expensive sports venue for fans to attend, though it also boasts the nation’s only true luxury seating. It hosted the CRF Copa de Campeones 53 final, the Copa Pavola 3 final, the fourth and fifth Sanford PREMIER Cup finals, and the full Sanford national team’s first-ever match. It will host the second Pavolan Group fixture listed on each group stage matchday, as well as the Pavolan Zone final and the grand final.

Overland Stadium is a 6500-capacity stadium in Sanford Falls. It regularly hosts Martin Luther of the Sanford PREMIER League. It was built ten years ago to replace older, city-owned Hamlin Woods Field to give the club a more modern stadium to which it owned full rights. It is one of the most modern football stadia in Sanford, boasting a few private suites. In addition to the seats — the vast majority of which are on the west side of the field — grass terraces lie beyond the north and south goals for fans to sit if they prefer. It will host the first Pavolan Group fixture listed on each group stage matchday, as well as the Pavolan Zone playoff and the Pavola–Terranea panregional semifinal.

Hamlin Woods Field is a 10000-capacity stadium in Sanford Falls. It regularly hosts football matches for the four public high schools in Sanford Falls: Sanford Falls South, Sanford Falls West, Sanford Falls East, and Sanford Falls North High Schools, as well as outdoor track events. It is one of only three stadia in use for this tournament with a capacity of 10000 or more. For fifty years, it had hosted Martin Luther, although it did so before the Sanford PREMIER League era. Built sixty-two years ago, it is the third-oldest stadium in use at this tournament, and it is one of the nation’s most historic stadia. The nation’s first professional match was held at Hamlin Woods Field. It will host the third Pavolan Group fixture listed on each group stage matchday, as well as the panregional third place match.

Southern Zone stadia

The ValleyDome is a 9100-capacity indoor stadium in Red Stream. It is a multipurpose stadium which hosts River Valley of the Sanford PREMIER League and the South Sanford Tanagers of the Sanfordan Professional Basketball Association, as well as indoor track and field, swimming and diving, and volleyball events. It was built forty years ago, and it is one of Sanford’s most historic stadia. It is the oldest stadium that was included in Sanford’s original Copa Rushmori XLI bid, although all four additional stadia chosen to host Campeonato Rushmori Juvenil XV Sub-20 are older. It was originally an air-supported structure, but after roof collapse incidents, a steel roof was installed to reinforce its structural integrity. It hosted the first Sanford PREMIER Cup final. It will host the first Southern Group fixture listed on each group stage matchday, as well as the Southern Zone final.

Young Field is a 5000-capacity stadium in Sanford Falls. It regularly hosts Baptists of the Sanford PREMIER League. It was built fourteen years ago. It sits on the southern edge of the city limits of Sanford Falls. Ostensibly, that is why it was the one Sanford Falls venue not chosen to be grouped with other Sanford Falls stadia in the group and zonal knockout stages, but the stadium lacks the history of Hamlin Woods Field, the amenities of Overland Stadium, and the sheer D. Tommy Sanford-ness of Tommy Sanford PREMIER Stadium. It hosted the second Sanford PREMIER Cup final. It will host the second Southern Group fixture listed on each group stage matchday, as well as the Southern Zone playoff and the Northern–Southern panregional semifinal.

Riverside Park is a 1600-capacity stadium in Lewiston. It regularly hosts Lewiston Clark of the Sanford PREMIER League, as well as football matches for Lewiston High School. It was built forty-eight years ago, meaning it is the oldest stadium in use in the Sanford PREMIER League. It was the only Sanford PREMIER League stadium not included in Sanford’s original Copa Rushmori bid, and it is the smallest venue in use at this tournament. Due to the club’s low attendances, poor revenues, and poor fan experiences at Riverside Park, some have posited that it is not a sustainable Sanford PREMIER League venue and that another stadium will have to replace it at some point, whether in Lewiston or elsewhere. It will host the third Southern Group fixture listed on each group stage matchday.

Terranean Zone stadia

The Checkerboard is a 19300-capacity stadium in Derry. It regularly hosts Railyards of the Sanford PREMIER League. It is one of Sanford’s newest stadia, built five years ago to coincide with the foundation of the Sanford PREMIER League. The venue is double the size of the next-largest Sanford PREMIER League stadium, except for Tommy Sanford PREMIER Stadium, and it is the second-largest venue in use for this tournament, after that stadium. It gets its name from the blue and yellow checkerboard design, in Railyards’s colors, that traditionally covers the eighteen-yard boxes and center circle, as well as the seats and other areas off the pitch. It hosted the third Sanford PREMIER Cup final. It will host the second Terranean Group fixture listed on each group stage matchday, as well as the Terranean Zone final.

The Discovery Archeodome is a 3000-capacity indoor stadium in McGovern. It regularly hosts Corn Palace of the Sanford PREMIER League, as well as indoor track events and football matches for McGovern High School. It was built nine years ago. The stadium was named in recognition of a nearby archeological site, of a prehistoric Native settlement. The archeological site is open to the public, and guides can teach visitors, families, or school groups about the Native people and their discoveries in McGovern. The stadium itself is somewhat smaller to avoid disturbing any artifacts of interest nearby, but the success of tenants Corn Palace has ensured matches always have a fun atmosphere. Aside from Sanford Falls PREMIER, Corn Palace is the only club to have won the Sanford PREMIER League. It will host the first Terranean Group fixture listed on each group stage matchday, as well as the Terranean Zone playoff.

Lowe Green is a 5000-capacity stadium in Mundt. It regularly hosts Beadle-Normal of the Sanford PREMIER League, as well as outdoor track events and football matches for Mundt High School. It was built thirty-three years ago. The Sanford PREMIER League’s newest club plays in a stadium which is not quite up to the modern standards of venues such as Roncalli Field, the Checkerboard, Overland Stadium, or Tommy Sanford PREMIER Stadium. Although not in quite as dire condition as Riverside Park in Lewiston, given the facility’s age, the club’s poor finances, and the squad’s dire results on the pitch, some have suggested relocating or contracting the club. The fact that renovations to prepare to host the Copa Rushmori which were scheduled to be paid for with Sanford Football Federation dollars were never approved in preparation for this youth tournament have added to the pressure. It will host the third Terranean Group fixture listed on each group stage matchday.

Congratulations to the tournament’s champion of champions: Pridnestrovia, sub-20 champion of Pavola, of Campeonato Rushmori Juvenil XV Sub-20, and of all of Rushmore!
A largely rural, very sparsely-populated inland nation far from the ocean with strong winds, harsh winters, and more cows than people.

In other words, paradise.

The Captina Company Football Agency is proud to welcome Rushmore to Captina Island for the 15th Campeonato Rushmori Juvenil Sub-17 Championship.
Although we have sent our senior National Team to Copa Rushmori 40 and 41, we consider this our official debut on the regional stage.

Captina Island is the southernmost nation in Rushmore, made up of 6.3 million people of which approximately 31% are ethnic Captini--the native people who occupied the island prior to discovery--and 42% Italini, descendants of the settlers who arrived after 1922, with about 20% identifying themselves as mixed. The remainder are of other ethnic backgrounds and nationalities.

Captina Island thrives in all aspects of life thanks to the rigorous discipline of “The Plan” (officially known as The Captina Island National Community Operation Master Plan [CINCOMP]) which organizes the priorities, agenda, and the day to day running of proper society within the Armed Republic.

All economic affairs are controlled by the five major privately owned corporations that operate under the provisions of The Plan, holding exclusive license to conduct the nationwide administration of the following areas:

Captina National Organization (CNO)--Defense/Health & Medical/Education
State Economic Corporation (SEC)--Retail/Banking/Transportation/Technology
Industrial & Manufacturing Alliance (IMA)--Production/Raw Materials/Wholesale
The Captina Company (TCC)--Social/Entertainment/Utilities
Brandstadter Corporation Authority (BCA)--Food/Agriculture/Construction

Any remaining areas that would be under the control of a constituted government are handled by The Burkett Group, which is owned in equal shares by the five main corporations and a public ownership scheme funded by a 50 crown (about NS$10) per week deduction from the wages of all citizens. TBG functions as a bureaucratic administrative body, coordinating inter-company affairs in addition to providing the personnel for things like police/fire protection, vital statistics record keeping, public spaces maintenance, and other public services.

TBG operates from the National Capital District of Big Flint which has a population of 84,000, while the other corporations each have their own headquarters city, although they have national operations; within each major city, the 'affiliated' companies have satellite offices to handle the daily business.

The tournament
4 groups of six nations each, top 2 from each group advance plus next four best finishers. Group winners receive byes to QF, and remaining 8 played a seeded first round.
SGIS was utilized in xkorinate with no skill points added and style modifiers off.
Tiebreaking for positions in groups was as follows: head to head result, head to head goal difference, overall goal difference, fewer goals allowed, coin flip (OOCly--rescored match).

Four pots based upon the post CR 40 rankings were arranged following the placement of the top 8 ranked teams in snake order (1/8, 2/7, 3/6, 4/5); one nation from each of the four was drawn into the four groups.

Cabo Azure IC Information
Cabo Azure is a small archipelagic nation off the southeastern coast of Rushmore, near Nephara, Isles of Avon, and Ceni. Its primary language is Azurean, a creole related to Portuguese, but Terranean is widely spoken, especially on the “main” islands of Aho and Portelo. Visitors to the islands will find the residents to be friendly, but guarded, and the culture to be more conservative than its neighbors.

A semi-constitutional monarchy, Cabo Azure’s de jure capital and largest city is Sao Simone on the island of Aho, but the island of Portelo is the seat of the king. The largest island after Aho is Ducle Muerte, in the extreme east of the archipelago, and there are about a dozen inhabited islands in Cabo Azure all told. Transportation between islands is almost exclusively by boat, and there are numerous charter boat services available for all budgets and comfort levels. Sao Simone (250,000) and Portelo (40,000) are modern Rushmori cities, with all the amenities one might expect; outside these areas, the level of comfort will vary, especially for those accustomed to more advanced societies.

Six stadiums in five Azurean cities will host matches in the sixteenth Campionato Rushmori Juvenil U20 Stadio Sao Simone (cap 25,000) and Villa Silva (cap 10,000), both in Sao Simone, and Stadio Natal (cap 5,000) in Natal, will represent the island of Aho; on Portelo, Stadio Cidadela (cap 12,500); on Dulce Muerte, Stadio Lagostim (cap 9,500) in Lagostim; and Stadio Sao Vicente on Sao Vicente (cap 5,000).

Sao Simone is the primate city of Cabo Azure and its primary tourist attraction. Visitors enjoy walking the cobbled streets of its old town and haggling in its markets, as well as enjoying fresh seafood on the waterfront and swimming at the capital’s many beaches. Stadio Sao Simone is home of several Sao Simone-based football clubs, not least among them Perolas, Pilotos, and 2014-15 Copa Maçarica winners Villa del Sol. An aging but elegant venue, it is the default home stadium of the Azurean national team and will host Group A as well as two round of sixteen matches, a quarterfinal, and a semifinal. Villa Silva, home of the eponymous club, is the newest stadium in Cabo Azure, set in the wealthy Villa Silva neighborhood of Sao Simone, overlooking the beach at Playa Silva, and will host the final, as well as Group E, two round of sixteen matches, a quarterfinal, and a semifinal.

Home of the main airport in Cabo Azure, Natal is located on the opposite side of the island of Aho from Sao Simone. Despite its proximity to the capital, it retains a bucolic charm, surrounded by orchard fields tended by generational farmers. Its downtown has dirt streets and brightly-colored buildings, but some of the most exclusive restaurants in Cabo Azure. Natal has beaches to rival Sao Simone’s, as well, but they are privately owned and accessible only through the clubs which own them. Stadio Natal is a small, comfortable venue located on the main drag through town, home to CF Natal, one of the most successful Azurean clubs of the modern era. It will host Group B as well as two round of sixteen matches and one quarterfinal.

Located within a stone’s throw of both the Azurean royal palace and the campus of Maritime University, Stadio Cidadela is a historic venue on the cramped island of Portelo. First thing in the morning, visitors can see midshipmen from Maritime running the steps as part of their physical training program. The stadium is home to both Cidadela, the traditional team of the Azurean military, and CF Portelo, one of the most successful modern Azurean football clubs. Portelo proper is a town carved into the side of a hill, with steep streets and buildings set partially into the ground. Culturally it is part port city, part military town, part college town, and all bustling; visitors will enjoy the lively pubs and cafes. Cidadela will host Group F, two round of sixteen matches, and a quarterfinal.

Lagostim is a piece of the old Cabo Azure. Located deep in the heart of the island of Dulce Muerte, so named for the smell of sugarcane fermenting that permeates the entire island, Lagostim is an industrial, agricultural town with few comforts, though some are attracted to its rugged charm. Stadio Lagostim is the city’s pride-and-joy, a steel colossus in the heart of downtown and home of CF Lagostim, a blue-collar club that draws support from all over Dulce Muerte. Stadio Lagostim will host Group C.

The final venue, Sao Vicente, is in the outer islands of Cabo Azure, a far cry from cosmopolitan Sao Simone. The island of Sao Vicente is primarily agrarian, with a robust economy based around fishing and animal husbandry. Visitors to Sao Vicente should be warned that lodging is in short supply, and will be mostly taken up with team personnel and players. The Calanian Star Line will anchor the Côte-du-Soleil off the Sao Vicente coast to serve as additional lodging; those interested should book accommodations through CSL’s website. Outside the main town of Sao Vicente, there is only one other settlement; Ponta Flaca, a rough-and-tumble community attached to a stone quarry with an equally rough-and-tumble football club associated with it. Recently renovated, Stadio Sao Vicente hosts the town’s football club, which has the distinction of being the most successful club from an “outer island” in the modern era. Stadio Sao Vicente will host Group D.

24 sides (less the Askari Union and Isle Noire) arrived at the hellish thunderdome known as the Grand Union of Nephara, and in the infinite wisdom of the NFA it has been decreed that they shall be divided into four groups of six; partly to ensure a maximum of football for particpants, partly to avoid the miserable garbage-fire that is ‘best third-place progression’. Instead, only two from each group would be freed from their torment after five games, played over the course of two gruelling weeks, ensuring each squad is worn to the bone and each player has plenty of chances to get invaluable minutes in their legs.

KNOCKOUT ROUNDS

Having endured the horrifying crucible of group play, the younglings of the surviving 16 nations dragged themselves to the knockout rounds, strictly seeded. There would be an east and a west path to the final, with the stronger sides enjoying the privilege of not needing to avail themselves of Nephara’s famously disorienting bullet train network. A1 and A2 would host C4 and C3 respectively, and so on.

It became almost immediately apparent that driving a number of juveniles to exhaustion for the sake of ‘match minutes’ had an adverse effect on goalmouth action, as the goals dried up faster than a… well, a reference unsuitable for the ears of the players involved. But Bollonich were undoubtedly worthy winners, their early record of success meaning they never actually had to leave Sabrefell, as they just about managed to drag out victory over Valladares.
