It aches my heart to see Labour losing like this. It pains me to see our so called heartlands refuse to show up and vote, I wish I could show these people what we benefit from being in the EU, what we gain from diversity. We're meant to be the party of tolerance and acceptance, not infithing and name-calling.
I can see exactly how our new modern Britain benefits from this thinking. I can go for a stroll in Shoreditch and see right away how diversity has beenfitted the local community, I could have a Lebanese breakfast on the pavement where the owner is always happy to greet me, go to a community run market or street art demonstration. I could go to my parents house in Cambridge, a seat still staunchly Labour, moated by backward thinking Tory seats. I could take them for a cycle through Mill Road, past the New Cambridge Mosque, a community funded brotherhood, all the businesses and property is run by them, but racism stops certain people from seeing that. A few hundred metres later and the Latinx/Continental community kicks in and you are greeted by the sounds of their culture and food, the bustling feel at all hours of the day.
But no, they can't see that, they sit in their run-down towns being told what to think by racists like Farage and Tommy Robinson and eating fish and chips, refusing to hear any viewpoints but their own. I think it's time we cut them loose and stop trying to pander to them because it is holding us all back as a nation.
Replies range from engaging with him like he's serious and being all "Yeah, how do we convince those backwards troglodytes living in run down towns of the wonders of our way of life which racism prevents them enjoying?" and "Guys. He's taking the piss of you.".
