Welcome to the sixty-first edition of the AOCAF Cup, hosted by Equestria. Please feel free to begin posting your RPs and rosters here in this thread. Please direct any OOC discussion to this thread.

Group Stage
The AOCAF Cup 61 group stage will consist of each team playing the others in their group once in a single round robin. All fixtures will be held in venues throughout Equestria. Matches will be scorinated at approximately 11:00 PM EDT (03:00 UTC).

Knockout Stage
The winners of each group will advance to the Round of 16, while the second and third-placed teams will advance to the Round of 24. Group winners will be seeded 1-8, runners-up will be seeded 9-16, and third place teams will be seeded 17-24. Teams may be reseeded in the Ro24 to avoid group stage rematches. Additionally, the bracket will be reseeded in the Ro16 so that the lowest remaining seed will face the highest remaining seed as well as to avoid any group stage rematches. The bracket will not be reseeded in the quarterfinals or later rounds.

About the Nation
Northwest Kalactin is a nation of 20 million people, the nation has many major city’s with hockey teams in them. The largest cities are Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour And Kempsey the capital and largest city in the nation is Gold Coast. The climate is hot with the summer temperatures getting up to about 110 Fahrenheit at the highest and winter temperatures go down to about 50 at the lowest. The nation plays host to many domestic sports leagues across many different sports including Hockey, Soccer, Basketball, Rugby and many more.

Northwest Kalactin: What to Expect
Of course if you are traveling to Northwest Kalactin you need to bring some shirts and shorts. The average temperature is around 80 degrees all year, however, during the summer it can go up to one hundred degrees. Most stadiums in Northwest Kalactin are either domes or have retractable roofs because during the summer players will easily overheat. The hottest that the temperature that the weather has gotten in the summer is 113 degrees farinheight. The largest cities are Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour and Kempsey. All 3 of these cities have over 1 million people in them but Gold Coast is the largest city with over 2.8 million people in the entire city. Coffs has 1.7 million and Kempsey has 1.2 million. The east side of the nation has very few people having only 2.5 million people. Almost all of the large cities have teams in all of the different sports leagues, however, different regions have different popular sports. The main coastal cities have soccer and gridiron as the most popular sports. The farms inland also like both Soccer and Gridiron but many baseball players also come from the inland rural areas. In the eastern mountains have hockey as the most popular sport but, bandy is also a very popular among kids which makes the nation one of the best in the world in bandy. Down south, soccer and basketball are by far the most popular sports there. The kids in Northwest Kalactin currently are one of the most promising sports generations ever in the nation as they are now putting up some of the best youth teams in the world. Northwest Kalactin is pretty light when it comes to laws however, all visitors and opponents are expected to follow the laws for the duration that they are in the nation. Drinking is permitted for those over 17 and smoking is illegal outside of designated areas. Some of the best textiles industries in the world can be found in Northwest Kalactin as the huge textile factory, Holcomb Textiles headquartered in Byron Bay. Many tech companies are also based in the nation as the Tech Company Startup Fund provides money for those entrepreneurs in the tech section who look to be based in Kalactin.

Where you will play

Gold Coast international football stadium is a very nice stadium it holds up to 104,000 people and is the largest stadium in northwest Kalactin. Many people are surprised that the stadium has a retractable roof even though it is very hot in northwest Kalactin in fact the reason why the roof is there is because of the heat! One time it was 114 degrees Farinheight in Gold Coast so they put the roof up. Another thing to look for at the stadium is the before game tailgating there are many food trucks that stop by there and take advantage of the huge crowds. Lastly, be sure to visit the Northwest Kalactin soccer hall of fame that has many interesting artifacts jerseys and other stuff from Kalactanian football

History of The Team
The Kalactanian National Team has been around since the 79th version of the World Cup. The team started out from quiet beginnings finishing in the quarter finals in the 66th Baptism Of Fire against Filindostan. The 80th World Cup Team was highlighted by Jared Sednah and Wendell Jakerein, who ended up making the team of the qualifiers. Sednah was the top player on the team for the Next 2 cycled as he paired up with Luke Dillan to bring the team close to qualifying. Despite the valiant efforts by Dillan and Sednah the team couldn’t end up qualifying in the 82nd and 81st cups. The FA decided not to enter the team in for the 83rd qualifiers due to corruption in the association. The team was quickly eliminated in the 84th qualifiers. The current team is highlighted by younger players that hope to bring the team to the World Cup the the following years. In the 85th World Cup campaign the team put up one of their best qualifying performances. However, near the end of qualifying the team was shaken by the surprise retirement of the star goalkeeper Wendell Jakerein.

Strikers:
Luke Dillan

GCCFC, Age: 36
Dillan is a player that is that is not in his golden years of the 80th and 81st World Cup but still brings strength to the team. He brought prominence to Gold Coast Capital after moving there last year and continues to exceed expectations despite his age. He is a very flashy forward that is able to score a goal for all the fans when needed. His long Free Kicks brought attention to him in highlight clips recently and he can play on anyone. He is surprisingly coming back for another cycle, after being expected to retire after the last cycle, nobody knows what cycle 87 will hold for him.

Jimmy McCarthy

Dalton United, Age: 26
Jimmy McCarthy was the future of Kalactanian football the second he stepped onto the Project Olimpo campus. He is a natural leader that can lift the spirits of any of his teammates and he brings great talent to the team. He is a bit weak however he makes up for it with his ability to make a move on anyone. Last cycle he was by far the best player on the team, going out and showing his goalscoring ability, and is able to work some magic out there.

Will Sanders

Murwelldobah FC, Age: 30
Will Sanders is a player that has historically played midfield however he made the switch to midfielder a few years ago. One of the best players on the team he is always focused on making his teammates better through passing. He is a very creative player that likes to express his creativity on the pitch. He was responsible for assists on many of the goal.

Thomas Butler

AC Itotz Zubia, Age: 18
The future of Kalactanian soccer, is now playing in Audioslavia, and is now with the national team for his first cycle on. He is a magic man by the net, and always seems to come out with the ball in 1-1 battles. He is one of the strongest, and fastest players to ever play for the nation, he will become a great duo with players like Jimmy McCarthey in the next few years, and you can look for him to score many goals. He wants this cycle to be his breakout cycle, and he wants to start it out wi a good AOCAF

Midfielders:
Steve Gilbert

Toureres War eagles, Age: 31
Gilbert is a player in the middle of his prime. After showing how he could turn the War Eagles from a second tier team to a team earning UICA qualification the NT picked him up. He is a very athletically talented player that can outrun almost anyone on the pitch. He does lack some skills on the first touch but his athleticism helps him excel on the field.

Frank Owens

Coffs Harbour FC, Age: 33
Owens has been a mainstay if the starting lineup of the NT since the 80th World Cup. He may be entering his last World Cup as he is very prone to injury’s. He plays a very aggressive game and has a fiery temper, things that can get him in trouble on the field. Owens is currently the team record holder for the most Cautions in one tournament, with 7.

Lamar Hall

Ballina Red Devils, Age: 20
Lamar is on his very first cycle on the National Team, and he is a started already. He had a breakout season and helped the Ballina Red Devils earn theirselves a spot in IFCF play this season. He is the younger brother of established defender Matt Hall, and wants to become a reliable starter on the national team in the coming years. Look for him to pass a lot, he spends very little time with the ball once he gets possession.

Fryi Frêndê, Age: 25
Matt Hall is another wonderkid that has been around on the team during recent cycles. He recently started playing in the Farfadillian leagues where he continues to develop as a player. Hall is one of the strongest players on the team athletically being one of the fastest on the team.

Joseph Anderson

FC Harbour City, Age: 29
A newer player just recently called up to the National Team, Anderson has exceeded expectations for the team. He recently just entered his prime and he improves very quickly. He does tack up a large number of injuries though, which is concerning for his future on the team. Anderson is a great on-ball defender and can play physically if needed.

Larry Martinez

AC Itotz Zubia, Age: 26
Martinez is a new defender to the National squad. He played his only appearance before this when he came in as a sub in a Wonder Cup game against Delaclava. He also is a teammate of young striker Thomas Butler, so look for those 2 to have some good chemistry on the field. Just like his preceding teammate at the position, Jake Dakota, he is a reliable defender that has good ball control.

Goalkeeper:

After taking over from the legend Wendell Jakerein, Romero started the final games of the World Cup 85 qualification. Romero is a very young keeper that can look to become a successful player on the Kalactanian National team. Unlike his preceder, Romero is a player that has very good athleticism. What he lacks though, is the tactical smarts that Jakerein possessed

Breakdown of the Roster

Among the back four, Eribon is the enforcer, Vickers the aerial specialist, Nott the man-to-man player, and Finn the one who is more offensive minded. Helping them out will be Park, now transitioning to the defensive midfielder position, the one that he plays for Tarahal Lake Athletic. Playing the midfield will be Monika Jack-Bentley, who is the free-kick taker, Maurice Hunt, who plays with lots of pace, and Jenniven Yersau, a great crosser.

Zoe Roswell will be expected to contribute, but things will as always flow through the immortal vampire Nadya Dostoevich.

If this team is to win, their midfield will dictate possession and get enough chances for the strikers to do their work; the defense should not have to do much. This roster is in its last legs, but have bonded together for one last push.

Iskandervale has been through the wars. Specifically, as an oft-forgotten secondary battleground of the Terranean War, as Sameba occupied it and was painstakingly fought off by Nepharan and Euran forces, as well as local partisans. Now, Iskandervale is free... and now it is time to celebrate.

The squad itself is a mixture of locally-based semi-professionals, a few Nepharim with blood ties in the lower tiers and some stars who have made the grade abroad. The IFA aspires towards professionalism, and saw COCANEFA as their avenue towards that... until its collapse. Even so, they do what they can to fuel youth development.

Iskandervale's biggest issue is that its best players, such as Fanaiyan, Misidjan and Avetisyan, all play for Nephara. Avetisyan's actually appeared for Iskandervale at an AOCAF before! It's managed to call up a handful of Nepharim, though, chiefly in the lower leagues but with a few players of quality. While unlikely, financially, to be a regular competitor in the AOCAF going forward, Iskandervale hopes to be a flex invitee in times where the tournament could benefit from, bluntly, filler.

Tactics

First-choice lineup. The game plan is to keep tight at the back and swarm forward quickly in numbers, hoping crosses and long balls over the top hit their targets. And, naturally, given the Nepharan origins of the side, they will be hard and uncompromising tacklers. Pace and power will be the watchwords, hoping to make up in physicality what they lack in skill.

Spry, agile Curran fought as a partisan during Sameban occupation; unsurprisingly, she's fearless on the football pitch, and is the unquestioned first choice goalkeeper. Cooper is the clear successor, an assertive but patchy sweeper-keeper. Bauyrzhan is meat.

One-paced, one-dimensional Karapetyan and Stubbs make up a tough defensive core, with the more cerebral Serket aging out of regular minutes. Rash young Rashad and the seasoned Seraph providing the bulk of attacking width for the side.

Leila Rzazade's focusing on her club career, and that's a blow; she's probably the best Iskandrian player to actually play for Iskandervale (looking at you, Fanaiyan and Avetisyan). The unathletic technician Alexandre and the sheer brute force of Broadway flank young, electric but callow Casimir, with Monika Talay (another who qualifies through paternal ancestry) giving the needed cutting edge.

The departures of Uzunlar and Samarqand cripple the side, but there's a surprising number of green shoots. Pugnacious poacher Voskanyan is probably the best of their options, with arrogant, fiery Sulaka and the more resolute Menander offering pacier counterparts. It'll look a lot better in two more years.

The roster is very similar to the roster of the 60th AOCAF - and for a good reason. Many new staff members were hired, the selection process was reviewed, a new team was selected based on the core that was there, and the team won the Dragonflies' second big football title. Some say this is the moment to review and make the team even better, but for now, the same team largely remains in place.

The biggest shock choice would be selecting Palmgroen as starting GK despite not being on the squad for either AOCAF 60 or World Cup 85. Cholmondeley was relegated to a reserve spot - and we see Theshendan back on the selection for the first time since losing the starting job following a slew of very bad misses. Yokota, against his will, remains the captain. He's by far the wordiest person on the field, leading to his appointment, but that's about as far as it goes. He balances well with the angrier types in the defence and mellows them out - and keeping Lampshire from declaring a revolution against the team is a landmark achievement. This roster will rely on much more fluid midfielders, noted for instance by Janoreirinthen moved to left midfielder. His jersey number suggests he might not play much, but he'll still be the primary playmaker. Martis is selected at central midfielder, after a stormy development and crash back to earth by Advance Alara. The other names aren't out of place at all: Batchelor and Longchambon are incredibly talented and the latter is the most creative player on the team.

The three midfielder system almost always works with DM Yokota and AM Longchambon, and usually features Janoreirinthen as the playmaker between them. Yokota could get switched out for Batchelor to provide a much wider team, but we could also see a two-DM formation, for instance.

Vallotton is probably the best among the bunch, with a revolving door policy for the other positions. Maethoru SC are on an upswing and have both other Second Strikers, somehow. Turner was given two tournaments, but isn't even on the squad now, and Miyahara will make a debut. De Meester makes his way back into the team for now, with Noya as a solid understudy. Duchemin and Vallotton will play together for the first time in a long time, despite both players' status as best at their position.

Stockain Lelop was unknown until a few months ago, where he pushed Masting United to Promotion to the first Division. He is able to push through defenders with ease. Huli has been making strides at club level and has been given a place into the team. Santi is a Midfielder who has excelled in club but not in country. After Semarland's return post-"The Gap", a brief international return was completed before SFA President and national team legend Marc Lygaard declared the country would take a break from all forms of international competition - the World Cup, the AOCAF, and club football such as UICA (and now IFCF) for five years. Plenty of fans, players, staff were all shocked and unhappy by the decision, but now they are realising why it was better for the country. The whole footballing league system is now in order, things are back to normal, and despite some players missing out on international opportunities and the peak of their careers, they are happy their sacrifice was made for the greater good of the future of football in Semarland. Lygaard announced upon return to international football, all statistics such as caps and goals would be restarted. Therefore, despite a good number of the squad having been capped before, are all now classed as uncapped. Given this marks another "new era" for Semarland, this will be helpful for future measurements of performance.

Without further ado, let's take a look at the players and staff who are part of this new dawn.

STAFF:
Manager: Kadell Stevens, 55
And so it begins, the new era. Again, and again once more. Just over five years ago, SFA President Marc Lygaard took his time before carefully hand-picking the man to take Semarland forward after seven years of...nothingness. Only to complete a relatively brief AOCAF-World Cup-AOCAF cycle before taking a break for another five years. It's former FC Nuholm manager Kadell Stevens who faces this task, and it's arguably quite an exciting appointment. Performance wise, he didn't too bad. His first international competition was AOCAF 57, where he led the team to the quarter finals, losing out to Starblaydia on penalties. Sadly, he couldn't achieve World Cup qualification, but progressed to the Round of 16 the following AOCAF. Not bad given the circumstances.

One of the youngest managers in LigAnaia before returning to the pre-break Premarligaen, Stevens led a young, dynamic and exciting FC Nuholm side, gaining a reputation for nurturing some of the best youngsters in the country. It was a big blow for the club as they lost arguably the greatest manager in their history but a huge gain for the whole country as they look to regain their reputation on the international scene. They made a good enough start before, but with a five year break since, it remains to be seen how they will fare now, as they hope to be back for good. He also has a reputation for developing coaches as well as youngsters, with associates taking other clubs on the rise in domestic football. Usually a quiet and reserved figure on the touchline, he does have a penchant for the exuberant celebration or two when things are going his way, but never gets ahead of himself.

Assistant manager: Peder Clarke, 63
Formerly the first team coach at FC Nuholm before Kadell Stevens' arrrival, the latter took a liking to him and named him his new deputy. A robust central midfielder in his playing days, Clarke has good knowledge of the international stage having represented Semarland 25 times before they entered the multiversal stage. He's not as a high profile figure as Stevens but his work is certainly vital. It could be said Stevens couldn't work without Clarke and vice versa, and the somewhat unlikely duo were amongst the more highly-sought after members of coaching in staff in Semarland before the "gap".

First team coaches: Mats Axelberg, 51 and Jermaine Latibeaudiere, 48
The Nuholm connection continues with 51 year old Mats Axelberg, himself a former youth team player before working his way up the coaching ranks into Kadell Stevens' regime. Amongst his most trusted allies, Axelberg follows him into the national team and brings yet another fresh outlook on coaching the country's talent. Jermaine Latibeaudiere is a more familiar face in the national team, having been personally retained by Stevens. The former Krsthaven prodigy first joined the national team staff way back in World Cup 74 so definitely has the experience despite being the youngest member of the main coaching staff. Having survived the previous two reigns of Andreas Jansen and Azarai Robinson he will no doubt he hoping this third tenure under Stevens will be third time lucky, for him and the nation.

We're not sure what's more of a surprise - Kadell Stevens not bringing in anyone from his old team or the fact how old some of our former stars and heroes have got! Goalkeeping coach Martin Datheim, formerly of Krsthaven & WC69 fame is past 60, whilst former national team captain Jakob Lunds is now 45. Tactical coach Jamal Martinsson has no national team experience playing-wise but certainly a lot coaching-wise. Demba Cisse and Jakob Lindesfarne complete the triumvirate of the former "golden generation" players, the three of them key to Semarland qualifying to the World Cup finals alongside other heroes such as Kwame Nelson. Those three joining the staff were quite a coup but were more than willing to lend their help as we find our feet again. No doubt they'll all pursue roles at other clubs, perhaps after this tournament or the next WC, but for now they're as determined as they were in their playing careers to get the country back to its best.

Nestor Richards and Courtney Simms, the club partners of Ansah and Bailey-Foster respectively, will backup the two as Eikborg Club and FC Jansberg make up for half of the defence.

Max Mikkelmarkt and Etienne Marshall return from the previous squad, the duo being two of FC Nuholm's best players despite the side underperforming in recent seasons. Javairo Webster and Jaden Akyeampong will back up Richards and Hamilton respectively, whilst Sporting Saint Adrensburg's Cyrone Eastwood makes the squad after helping his team to a record-best second place for the past two seasons in a row.

FC Nuholm's Belgium Makiese will have his eyes on a starting spot as he looks to overtake the aforementioned two, following some excellent performances for his club, which has no doubt caught the eyes of potential suitors.

The first ever national team captain was named manager after Lindmark's return to the international scene. Since their last appearance at the 51st AOCAF, ten editions ago, Lindish football has carried on just domestically. Since his retirement from playing, Sunde took Saint Johan Square from relegation battlers to league champions, and a good amount of players he's selected represent them club-wise. 35-year old captain and "star" striker David Matthiasson is by far the best player in the side. A regular for Arkrau Klub for God knows how long now, Matthiasson is the only player to ply his trade abroad. Watch out for young central midfield Anders Kellisson too, of Larstad Town Bay. At the way things are going he'll probably in the team for another 15 years at least. The rest of the squad aren't anything to write home about, given they play week-in-week-out in an amateur-quality league, but you never know, maybe an upset might be on the cards. (Don't get your hopes up though.)

Gomes recently migrated to Sarzonia and earned a spot on the Stars national team with his quickness in the box. Plays a lot on instinct.

4 Charlie King, 25, 5-foot-11, 155 pounds (Saugerties Snakes)
King plays as a defensive-oriented fullback, often marking the opposing team's top striker. He relies more on positioning and reading his opponent's tendencies and body language to figure out where to run than on speed. He's not exactly a burner.
5 Tommy Benignati, 28, 6-foot-2, 200 pounds (Wilmington FC)
The older brother of Marco Beningnati, Tommy plays a much more rugged style than Marco does. Can play sweeper in a three-back lineup.

Taylor's speed lends itself to being a fullback, but he plays halfback for the Browns. He has a tendency to struggle with more physical forwards and offensive midfielders.

Howard is on the roster as much for his veteran leadership and for being a coach on the pitch as he is for his manmarking abilities. He and Taylor are rooming together during qualifying.

In his first season as team captain of the Renegades, he led the team to a Sarzonian Football Confederation championship, resulting in the team's promotion to the Cyanea League. 22 Carmela Bowen, 27, 5-foot-8, 145 pounds, Woodstock Justice
Brown plays fullback for the Justice, a Sarzonian women's football team, and typically marks whomever the playmaking midfielder is. Her stamina earned her a spot on the national team.

Donning the 10 shirt for the Stars, Reynolds can be very creative with the ball and will often take corner kicks and free kicks. Predominantly a right-booted player, but he's worked a lot during the offseason on improving with his left boot.
20 Clayton Wilson, 21, 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, (Woodstock Wild) Captain
A grandson of legendary Stars forward Brian Wilson and great-grandson of coach Dave Wilson, Clayton is not just a fourth generation star among the Stars, he served as the playmaker for the Under 21 Stars and is a sterling wing player on the Wild.
18 Carlos dos Santos, 24, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds (Woodstock Wild)
A right wing player, he will sometimes be called upon to take free kicks if Reynolds is unable to for some reason.
16 Trisha Collins, 31, 5-foot-6, 125 pounds (Portland Thorns)
Collins will assume the same role with the national team that she does for the Thorns in Sarzonia's women's football league as a defensive midfielder and general pest.

D'Agostino will provide depth for the defensive midfield for the Stars. He starts for Wilmington in that role.

Aguirre is the creative forward on the squad with an ability to pinch hit as a playmaking midfielder in late-match situations in the event of defensive-minded substitutions.
21 Jake Campos, 20, 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, (Portland Timbers)
Campos is a straight up target player in the front line. His leaping ability makes him a prime candidate for headers in the box off corner kicks and indirect free kicks. He played on the Junior Stars team that competed in the most recent AOCAF.
17 Mek'hi West, 32, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds (Woodstock Wild)
West is similar in style to Campos, but with West 18 months removed from a torn ACL, he's still working toward being match fit for a full 90 minutes. He can give a good 45-50 minutes at a time before he has to be substituted for when he's a starter.
19 Holly Cambrio, 25, 5-foot-7, 145 pounds (Woodstock Justice)
Cambrio adds flair and ball movement skill and the ability to serve as a sparkplug off the bench, but would be a starter for a women's national team if that competition got resurrected.

Sarzonia are about to compete in their third consecutive Atlantian Oceania Cup of Association Football, and the third since Kevin Connelly was coaxed out of retirement by the late Bryan Ostrom to serve as assistant manager.

This 61st edition will feature Connelly serving as the manager for the first time. After one Cup as an assistant manager, Connelly sat out the previous AOCAF after the Stars made a shock run to finish the Cup of Harmony as bronze medalists. They will walk into this tournament flying high despite failing to advance to the knockout stages of the World Cup.

However, he and the rest of those affiliated with Sarzonian football have plenty of reason to be excited about the future. One World Cup qualifying cycle after returning from a lengthy period of isolation, the Stars were 65th ranked in the multiverse. After two, the Stars were 33rd and had victories over the two highest ranked teams during the most recent World Cup cycle.

"We seem to find our rhythm after a slow beginning, but this team have taken on a never say die attitude," Connelly said. "This team doesn't scare easy, that's for sure."

Despite the success of the Stars in two World Cup cycles, they have scarcely drawn any international attention, as only goalkeeper Carlton Sandt, who plays in Banija, currently has a role on a team outside of Sarzonia. Even southern neighbours Delaclava don't have any Stars playing there.

Midfielder Brady Reynolds said he isn't bothered by the fact that only one Star plays outside of Sarzonia, and he bristled at Nepharan media suggestions that Sarzonia were somehow at a disadvantage because the Sarzonian Football Confederation is not considered among the better leagues in the multiverse.

"Fuck that," Reynolds said. "We've done well for ourselves with only one player playing in a foreign league." When asked if he would play internationally if asked, he said he'd have to evaluate any potential offers.

"I'm not going to play outside Sarzonia just to play in a so-called elite league. The situation has to be right for me, my family, and Sarzonian football as a whole."

If the Stars were to make a run deep into the knockout rounds of AOCAF LXI, Reynolds might draw interest, but the team looks to concentrate on the AOCAF.

"Our task here is to win another AOCAF. Pacitalia haven't sent a team here in a while, so we can't get revenge against them for losing back to back finals, but we still have work to do," midfielder and team captain Clayton Wilson said.

Starting Lineup

#1 GK George Ross - Algolia (SRS) - 24, 6'4", 175 -- Tall, sturdy, and a keen observer of the game, Ross makes up for perhaps a lack of natural athleticism with smart field positioning, an ability to communicate with the field players, and quick natural instincts and decision making. He comes off a strong first international season and a spectacular domestic year which included a league title, best goalkeeper and Best XI honors, and an opportunity to further his game in the Squornshelan Remnant States. He was a bit shaky at times at first, but this is a confident Ross at the back of this squad.

#3 CAM Timur Zaitsev - Workers Union (EUR) - 21, 5'10", 150 -- An offensive-minded, energetic player and a great distributor out of the middle. At the club level, he already embraced a leadership role at Cleopatrana SC and now is headed to greener pastures, where he will continue to thrive. He was often used as a "spark plug" substitute, but is ready to take the next step and be a consistent presence in the starting lineup.

#5 MF Keaton Durbridge (C) - Dí Maozöxê (FFD) - 25, 5'10", 155 -- The recently appointed captain of the team also has Phoenixes football in his blood - his grandfather is longtime midfield staple David Ward. Durbridge has become noted in his appearances with this squad for his control of the middle of the field, the ability to draw out individual possession before finding the right pass to move the attack forward, and his own infrequent yet successful attempts at the goal. In a time where this team continues to experiment with lineups and tactics, Durbridge's skills and level of play have remained a welcome constant, and his evident on-field leadership made him an obvious choice for the revamped Delaclava squad's first permanent captain.

#6 DF Valentin Gusev - ASK Landsmark (SVJ) - 24, 6'3", 185 -- Tall and imposing, opponents find it quite difficult to penetrate through the air against Gusev, although he is wanting for speed and a bit more susceptible on the ground. Gusev likes to take risks on the counterattack, following up the action and looking to play a second or third chance. This can either make him a defensive liability or an unanticipated big playmaker. Either way, there's no shortage of excitement in watching Gusev on both ends of the field. He has grown into his role as the lone center back, and although he will be missing his twin brother Alexei on the team, he'll be sure to carry the family torch by himself.

#7 LAM Dathan Ingram - Belgrave (NPH) - 21, 5'7", 140 -- One of the smallest players on the squad, Ingram is most commonly a threat penetrating the left wing. In a typical attack, Ingram will look to take it to the flag and cross. On the counterattack, Ingram will seek out the middle and can generate wonderful displays of individual skill, either taking the goal himself or dropping the ball off for a neat assist. He is not a significant aerial threat but is counted on to take many corner kicks and free kicks.

#10 LF Artem Kohut - Unamaꞌkik Inverness 1877 (QUE) - 20, 5'10", 165 -- The latest young star, Kohut was called up by interim manager Johannes Detmer and made an immediate impression, notching a goal and an assist in each of his first three games. He possesses quickness, finesse, and combines a nose for the goal with an unselfish chemistry and a deft passing touch. Simply, Kohut puts goals on the board, whether it's his name or someone else's. After putting up 97 goals with Catherina FC last year, he's looking forward to taking his high-flair game to Quebec and back to this AOCAF team.

#11 RF Lukas Meyer - Farrenton Athletic (EUR) - 20, 6'2", 175 -- The best natural goalscorer of the squad, Meyer does not have the speed or size to capitalize on many breakaway chances, but in offensive sets and possessions, there is no one more reliable or adept in the 18-yard box. Meyer has a knack for finding the right shot or leading pass within that range, and seems likely to have the best chance at cracking the world's stiffest defenses. He is coming off a record setting campaign in the WC85 cycle and has renewed confidence after leaving a languishing SVV for Euran club Farrenton Athletic.

#12 LB Kelly Joseph (3) - Steckholl United - 28, 6'3", 185 -- Tall and quick, Joseph is a frequent threat down the side of the field, and also takes calculated risks to win the ball in the midfield and push the pace forward. Joseph also blends effective positioning on the defensive side of the field, and would rather force a turnover from a man in front of him than chasing down a breakaway wing. He is adjusting to playing the left side instead of his typical right, but the veteran of the team is up to the challenge.

#15 LM Kazuo Martin - Crossroads (CMT) - 19, 5'11", 170 -- A young and quick player with a resilient personality, Martin bounced on and off the national team, struggling to fit into ever-changing tactics. But with the stability that manager Detmer offers, and a stellar season from Martin in helping Brisara FC to fourth place in the Chromatik league, there is finally a place for Martin in the defensive midfield. He hasn't gotten here the easy way, yet remarkably he is still just 19 and is intent on helping this team grow for a long time.

#22 RB Carlos Berrera - Algolia (SRS) - 24, 5'11", 160 -- The great-grandson of Delaclava's greatest player of all time, Alessandro Berrera, Berrera has consistently responded to the weight of pressure and expectation, and become a very competent containing back. His more conservative style is finally beginning to mesh with the attack-minded NT, and he is a fantastic positional and physical player as well as an effective distributor from the backfield.

#23 RM Rubèn Albert - Winnipeg United (QUE) - 22, 6'0", 170 -- Another late replacement in World Cup qualifying, Albert was strong enough in his first four games - all starts - that he was retained in the starting role. Albert is a physical, gritty defensive-type midfielder with an understated cleverness in tackling and an impressive gas tank for one of the larger players in the midfield. He doubles as a reliable fourth back in closing out games, and while he is the least likely of the midfielders to generate attacking chances, disregard him at your own peril.

#2 LB Luke Lemieux - Lotus Park (BRE) - 28, 6'2", 195 -- A large, physical outside back with a knack for on-field leadership and a work ethic that has effectively compensated for an occasional lack of raw speed or agility. When given the surprise opportunity of an emergency NT call-up, he took advantage and performed well enough to remain as a frequent substitute even with a fully replenished squad.

#4 CB Keghart Nazaretian - Zenit Attawapiskat (QUE) - 25, 6'0", 175 -- The breakout player of the United Football League last season and the defensive player of the year with Valhalla Vikings, it's all coming up now for Keghart - new club, back on the national team, and constantly putting pressure on Gusev's role. He's smaller than his counterpart but scarily quick, ferocious and gritty, and he's becoming a better distributor and offensive option all the time.

#8 RM Ben Romeijn - Blackfields (EUR) - 20, 6'2", 180 -- Romeijn shone in the past UFL season as the youngest player in a starting lineup of mainly 30-somethings, leading Espene to a mid-table finish. A big, speedy and powerful athlete, he came into his own en route to a mid-table finish, and his skills are starting to come together at just the right time. He is an exciting prospect who's been handed two big opportunities - the national team call-up and a role at second-tier Blackfields in Eura - and he's ready to take advantage.

#9 CAM Javor Milić - Catherina FC - 30, 5'8", 145 -- Milic has come into his own as a central attacking midfielder within the past few years. He has incredible endurance and grows stronger as the game draws on, and particuarly likes to give trouble for goalies at range. He is a long and rangy player who perhaps lacks the raw foot speed to elude defenders.

#13 LF Kobe De Vroome - Manchester - 24, 6'3", 185 -- A tall and rangy striker who was sought after to fill offensive holes on Manchester. He promises to be one of the star players of the UFL, with all of the transfers out to foreign leagues, and will take advantage of this opportunity, arising from Detmer's desire to give some prospects a try.

#14 GK Donat Soler - Cleopatrana SC - 21, 6'4", 185 -- A springy and explosive young keeper with a chip on his shoulder, he's continued to progress in a system that has been cautious to rush him. After a NT snub, he put together an impressive season, allowing the second-fewest goals of all goalkeepers, yet was still left out of postseason honors. But it'll be impossible to ignore this human highlight reel for much longer.

#16 RB Arnau Mata - Marque (BRE) - 23, 5'10", 150 -- Playing ay.longside defensive stalwarts like Luke Lemieux and Ryan Keating, Mata helped Cleopatrana SC to a surprise league title and a respectable fourth-place finish last year. He will take a leadership role with the team this year and has been granted a call-up for this tournament, with the hopes that he has the steadiness and consistency to be a full-time NT player someda

#17 RAM Zygmunt Soból - Real Atlantea (TAE) - 22, 5'10", 165 -- Sobol, a Firinsymnian, was one of the most impressive players on Manchester Wolves, their most effective offensive force. He follows in the footsteps of Rhydian Campbell and takes his talents to Taeshan - and he impressed Detmer enough to step in with the national team for AOCAF.

#18 RF Erik Hovhannisyan - Steckholl United - 19, 6'1", 160 -- A physical and energetic player who is forceful at the front, Hovhannisyan couldn't make an impression with the team last AOCAF, but he got his second chance in the last matches of the World Cup qualifiers and made it count. Here he is again, looking to improve under the influence of Kohut and Meyer.

#19 LAM Sargis Nazaryan - Vilitan League TBC (VIL) - 21, 5'11", 170 -- Originally a replacement call-up for the national team, He impressed in the role as well as in his season with runners-up Steckholl United, where he took a more prominent leadership role. The 21-year-old midfielder entertained multiple offers and is headed to the Vilitan League, and he will be valuable as a dynamic replacement for Ingram.

#20 MF Ryan Keating - Cleopatrana SC - 28, 5'11", 165 -- A stalwart on defense with a high level of endurance and physicality, Keating finds himself in a new tactical position as a defensive midfielder in the revamped 3-4-3 formation. It suits his abilities to win the ball back in the defensive half and distribute the ball amongst the offensive midfielders and wings. One of the older players of the team, Keating brings veteran experience and confidence to a team desperately looking to gain traction quickly in this tournament.

#21 GK Ross Phelps - Bastion Lions (EUR) - 24, 6'6", 190 -- After an effective season with Manchester and the opportunity to play abroad, Phelps gets the opportunity to step in as a backup to Ross, train with the national team in regional competition and potentially put himself on the map for further callups.

Tactics:

Offensive-minded 3-5-2, particularly utilizing the individual skill in the middle and up front. A bias towards action and chance instead of possession, and an inclination towards taking defensive risks to generate counterattack opportunities.

There is an expectation that the midfielders will be fully active on both ends of the field, employing manpower to have advantages in both the offensive and defense zones rather than relying on positioning. Detmer will frequently make substitutions at midfield, even as early as the start of the second half, to give both the starters and substitutes an opportunity to work at a higher rate for a shorter period of time. (If you RP first, Durbridge is more likely to play the full 90 minutes among the midfielders.)

It's the 61st AOCAF Cup, and Starblaydia are back in the familiar territory of Equestria once more as they try to extend their record of six regional titles. Ázëwyn Fëanáro has, rather unexpectedly, ousted a whole host of experienced players and will potentially be handing debut caps to eight of the twenty three person squad. It's a characteristically bold move for the manager, who has solidly stamped her way of thinking on the national team for the past 30 years, since taking charge in the build up to World Cup 78. A number of revitalised sides will be standing in Starblaydia's path as the world's premier regional tournament kicks off once more. The full makeup of the team is as follows:

Fëanáro scored the winner in the 47th Final against Valanora, denying them a title on their own turf and lifting Starblaydia to the mantle of all-time greatest team. Known for her excellent attacking play, range of passing and great eye for goal that lifts her to second in the all-time goalscorers list too, by virtue of a nearly 1-in-4 ratio, Ázëwyn Fëanáro is a symbol of grace, power and beauty from Starblaydia's golden age, some hundred and fifty years ago when the Cup was in its 40s. It is these qualities that the SFA managed to recapture with Fëanáro at the helm, bringing her trademark poise and piercing yell to the touchlines after more than a decade of national failures. She's taken her team to a World Cup Final, but so far all she's lifted is an Under-18 World Cup. Can she lead the team to another piece of silverware?

The first person to break into the Starblaydi all-time top ten goalscorers in literally generations, Cole had the dubious honour of being the man to finally knock Simeone Di Bradini off out of that same list. His excellent footballing brain, aggression levels, tactical nous and all-round Audioslavian/Brenecian level of shithousery made him a uniquely successful striker in a nation more used to smooth flying strikers and hulking target men. These are the qualities he will try to bring to the national team on a much grander scale.

Cosmo is, quite simply, the best Starblaydi goalkeeper by a country mile, and has been for the last decade since he took the #1 jersey for the 83rd World Cup. His time at Vilitan siide Colonial Sile will undoubtedly continue for at least another decade, but for Starblaydia he perhaps has just one World Cup left in him before someone else will need to take up the mantle. Only an Under-18 World Cup medal to his name would be a poor return for the man considered the greatest between the sticks for his country since Lucas 'Best in the World' Cable.

12. David Floyd, GK, 26 - Paricone Athletic FC

Though his opportunities for the national team have been limited behind Leopoldi, Floyd seems to be the natural successor. He's just the way they like them in Starblaydia, in the mold of Dacil Taniquentar: big and strong, an imposing presence in the goal and a voice to match, whether berating his defenders or having a go at any striker that dares touch him. He's exactly the sort of person you want as your backup, whether between the sticks or in a fight. Sometimes both.

19. Onish Vadaparthy, GK, 22 - Phraen Palace

Vadaparthy has overtaken the elder Eliot Jakobsen for the reserve goalie spot, coming off the back of an encouraging Di Bradini Cup 48 performance. He's tall, thin and lean, but that doesn't stop him from being an excellent shot-stopper and distributor.

2. Joel Alberto Filho, RB/RWB, 26 - Tabeck Cefn Druids

Starblaydia's strategic switch to a 4-3-3 with overlapping full-backs could not have come at a better time for Filho, who uses his natural athleticism and stamina to full advantage in the white and purple. Expect to see him flying down the wing and getting the passes and crosses in for the front three, but having to rely on pace to cover the hard defensive yards and close down any forward or left-wingers in the opposition.

3. Henri Apollo, LB, 30 - Ionia United

The slim figure of Henri Apollo brings to mind some of the keenest ball-playing centre-backs of old, but in fact the tall, lean frame hides a fairly vicious competitor, who loves to break into the opposition box and smash the ball into the net. His positional and blocking game is second to none, and while the tackles often come fast and furious, they're always with a singular purpose in mind: fuck the opponent up fairly. His crunching slides and blocks like a stone pillar are legendary at Ionia United, but with the wrong referee, particularly in the international game, he can quickly find himself hitting the showers involuntarily.

5. Falka Kaumolainen*, Captain, CB, 32 - Hallad Reavers

When you watch Kaumolainen play, she recalls two of the great Starblaydi captains: Betanni Marrones and Lex Panarii. Controlled and powerful leadership stemming from the back, with great positioning and a calm head that solidifies the back line, playing out into midfield when appropriate. Very few forwards can beat her, and she has been the rock upon which the Starblaydi backline has relied since the 59th AOCAF Cup and World Cup 84. Took the armband from the retiring Viola Capodonna two years ago, and hasn't looked back, driving Starblaydia onward.

6. Arn Renatovic, CB, 27 - Nidola United

Every decent Starblaydi back line, so the conventional wisdom goes, needs two types of defender. One has to be the playmaker, the sweeper and the calm head with the foot on the ball. The other should be the hulking bull in a pottery shop, clattering into the opposition with strength, power and toughness, putting their laces clean through the ball and into row Z at every opportunity. Arn Renatovic is not the first kind of plater. He's the type to elbow, stamp and kick, all while verbally winding up the opposition at every opportunity, along with being the first face an opponent sees after fouling a Starblaydi player - ususally pressed directly up against their own. Sure, he has more than his fair share of cards, but every team does need a bastard.

13. Lucius Wolffe, C/LB, 25 - Iskara Daii

- 7th Under-18 World Cup Winner
12 Caps, 1 Goals (12 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Smooth on the ball and with an excellent reading of the game, Wolffe's positional play is his main asset, along with a sweet left foot that can ping the ball all over the pitch with ease. Fast and languid, he also fits in as a centreback, able to comfortably play the ball out when required. His lighter frame, however, means he can be buffeted around somewhat by the more physical players.

14. Nick Conway, CB, 23 - Phraen Palace

- 7th Under-18 World Cup Winner

This young centre-back has the potential to go all the way to the top, as he has plenty of the qualities required for the position, along with being exceptional with his feet for a big, strong defender. As the modern game moves on to more and more refined athletic and technical skills, Conway represents the leading edge of this almost technological approach to sport.

20. Andvar Galdarhim^, C/RB, 18 - Karak Ungor Chiefs

Coming out of the youth sides, he's the first Dwarf to play for Starblaydia in some thirty years since Dorn Garkadrum won his 66 caps for the side, Galdarhim is most comfortable at right-back, where his boundless energy and pace over short distances is key to his defensive ability. Not always the finest in the tackle, thanks to his short, thick legs, he is however great at intercepting, harrying and pressing the opposition into making mistakes. Often pops up by the side of the opposing penalty area more than his own, Galdarhim is the definition of a shuttle runner, up and down the right flank.

Midfielders
4. Noah Kranendonk, DM, 25 - Cedrus Soundgardia

13 Caps, 2 Goals (7 Caps, 1 Goal at youth level)
Filling the positional shoes of one of the greater and beloved Starblaydi captains in recent history was never going to be easy, but Noah Kranendonk seems to have declared himself up to the task, pushing out the more experienced Ortiz entirely from this squad. Though it may be just an experiment on Fëanáro's part, she has entrusted Kranendonk with the role of midfield wrecker - something he loves to do. With long limbs and an excessive level of bravery, you'll often not notice a lot of his defensive contributions from pressing and intercepting, but he'll usually be at the top of the ball-winning charts. Every so often he does something outlandish, too, whether it's blasting in a goal from long range or scything a player down while somehow getting nothing but the ball. If he can keep his standards up in this new position of responsibility, he might just be able to keep it over the next decade.

7. Lucy Saraviva*, R/LM, 29 - Foxchester Raiders

Lucy Saraviva's goalscoring record for a wide midfielder is exceptional, even at national level. For the Foxes, she is a bullet train down either wing, shooting into the box with pace, power and precision. For the national team, in a middle three, she's a whirlwind of energy and movement, always trying to take the ball wide and spread the play in combination with the strikers and full-backs. She's become a vital part of the attacking set-up of the team, and her hard work has more than rewarded her throughout her career.

8. Jewel Maddison*, C/AM, 20 - X Island Marauders (Taeshan)
Uncapped (5 Caps, 2 Goals at youth level)
Giving a starting debut to Jewel Maddison, while leaving the 32 year old Calindra Apelles out of the squad entirely has been a bold decision from Fëanáro. Taking a woman who scored 10 goals in the World Cup campaign 2 years ago and replacing her with an uncapped 20 year old who plays in Taeshan certainly raised some eyebrows, but the Under-21 captain has all the potential in the world to meet and even exceed Apelles' records - the most notable of which is 30 goals in 101 appearances. If Maddison has half the career that Apelles has, most would consider that a success. She plays in the same mold, too, as a central midfielder with all the energy and skills to get forward. While Apelles tended to surge into the box, Maddison has that ability to ghost in when least expected, beign the body that provides the overload and first to any loose ball with a stinging shot.

15. Hayden Shepherd, C/DM, 22 - Widdrington Wolves

How do you back up an uncapped young midfielder tasked with being the pivot of arguably the most successful national team in history? Usually the answer is not 'with another uncapped young midfielder', but in this tournament it apparently is. Shepherd is certainly a bright prospect for the future, but for him to edge out Franklin Ortiz over this spot is an almost unheard-of decision by the manager, giving youth their chance.

16. Kristof Faiisa, AM, 28 - Iskara Daii

- 7th Under-18 World Cup Winner
18 Caps, 2 Goals (12 Caps, 1 Goals at youth level)
The Daii's attacking midfield lynchpin seems to have been around the fringes of the national team starting XI for over a decade, but after first playing second fiddle to Calindra Apelles, ow appears to be doing the same for Jewel Maddison. His teamwork and workrate is never in doubt, but it looks like Faiisa will be tasked with being the impact player, the game-changer and the experienced head to come on and calm the nerves, as his game is much more suited to a playmaker and string-puller than it is the all-out frenetic ball of energy that the current starting midfield seems to possess.

21. Emily Williams*, RM, 24 - Jhanna United

Uncapped (7 Caps, 1 Goal at youth level)
JUFC's little firecracker down the right, Williams is a solid midfielder who can eat up the space in front of her as she scampers forward with the ball. Solid defensively, she's also adept at working with an overlapping fullback as part of a midfield three, which may explain her inclusion in this side despite never having been involved in the senior team set-up before. Ázëwyn Fëanáro is certainly picking players for the system this time, rather than the other way around, no matter how experienced they are.

22. Sebastien Veilleux, LM, 26 - Sporting Salicus

Uncapped (13 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Veillieux makes a fourth uncapped midfielder, which is both a testament to Ázëwyn Fëanáro's desire to give youth a chance in this tournament, as well as the power and solidity of the Capodanno-Apelles-Yamaguchi based midfield that came before them. Veilleux is a decent wide man who plays for an unfashionable team in the form of Sporting Salicus, but his deliveries from out wide are second to none, and counts himself as something of a dead ball specialist. As appears to be the case with all of this side, he has stamina and energy for days.

Forwards
9. Hope Roshanak*, SC, 26 - Malta Lines

- 7th Under-18 World Cup Winner
48 Caps, 25 Goals (17 Caps, 9 Goals at youth level)
At the age of 26, Hope Roshanak will be leading the line for Starblaydia; their main goal threat at this regional championships. After top-scoring for the side two years ago during the World Cup 85 campaign (14 goals in 27 appearances, including a hat-trick over Havynwilde) she'll take up her familiar position at the tip of the 4-3-3 formation. At Malta Lines she's used to being the focus of the side's attacks, supported by up to three midfielders all trying to feed her the ball. In this situation, she has two other strikers around her, working in harmony with her efforts, and it'll be interesting to see the effect on having support beside her, rather than behind her. Debuted against Audioslavia in the 59th AOCAF Cup.

10. Marcus Jimenez, SC, 25 - Iskara Daii

25 Caps, 8 Goals (10 Caps, 4 Goals at youth level)
Since making his debut against Magnaterrica on MD4 of World Cup 84 Qualifying, the Iskara Daii forward has made himself a reliable, but not yet vital, part of the national team set-up. He's often in the right place, but so far has been the understudy to a string of players like McCloud, Roshanak and Velasquez. This will be his first senior tournament where he's handed a starting shirt, so it will be all on his shoulders to prove that he really is the man to help take Starblaydia forward. He's a hard worker, no doubt, but those moments of magic are just slightly too few and far between to make him a stand-out name on the team sheet.

11. Betanni Jetvanna*, SC, 22 - Kitara AA (Banija)
12 Caps, 5 Goals (10 Caps, 6 Goals at youth level)
Jetvanna is the up-and-coming young striker for whom pace is their greatest asset. Top scorer for Starblaydia at the dissapointing 10th Under-18 World Cup with two goals, her inclusion in the World Cup 85 squad led to the tally of five in twelve appearances and the nod over Velasquez for this youthful, if still rather conventional, team. Debuted away vs Baggieland on MD6 of WC85 Qualifying.

17. Carmine Velasquez*, SC, 29 - Corinthian Spirits

- 7th Under-18 World Cup Winner
56 Caps, 13 Goals (13 Caps, 6 Goals at youth level)
Ever since making her debut at the disappointing Games of the XIII Olympiad, Carmine Velasquez has been something of a disappointment herself. Despite being the most experienced member of this side, she's never managed to nail down a place for herself. Certainly, there is a lot of skill there and even potential, but as the years tick by that potential is rapidly shortening. One goal from six appearances along the way to a near-perfect 83rd World Cup, where Starblaydia finished second. No goals at the 46th Di Bradini Cup, then a succession of 1, 2 and 0 goals at the next three major championships. She just didn't manage to set the world on fire, and even when put in a front three throughout the World Cup 85 campaign, her nine goals saw her with the lowest tally of the three (Roshanak, 14; McCloud 11; and even Calindra Apelles got 10 from midfield). So, two yeas later, she finds herself demoted to the bench, with both Jimenez and Jetvanna jumping the queue ahead of her. Can she pull something back to put her name in real consideration for the next World Cup, or has she already peaked?

18. Erik Romaine, SC, 20 - Hecia
Uncapped (6 Caps, 1 Goal at youth level)

Romaine is a bit of an enigma, and doesn't yet seem to fit in anywhere. The young forward, yet to make his senior debut, is a promising young player for Hecia FC in Liga Starblaydia, but jsut doesn't fit their type of direct, route-one game. Though he's big, he's not that big; strong, but not that strong. Often deployed out wide where his relatively good pace and passing can be an asset, all signs point to a player who should be in the thick of things when the ball is on the floor, rather than in the air. If the right situation can present itself, Romaine surely will make the time and space he needs to shine, it's just about matching the man with that perfect moment.

23. Omar Al Qubaisi, SC/AM, 18 - Yaton FC (Taeshan)
Uncapped (11 Caps, 3 Goals at youth level)
An exceptionally hard worker, who often appears more in the assist and Key Contribution columns than the goalscoring charts, Al Qubaisi needs to really nail himself down to a position that fits within the new style that Fëanáro is developing across the entire national team setup. Still has plenty of time to develop, and plenty of opportunities for experience in the slightly more cut-and-thrust leagues of Taeshan.

Another Introduction
Twicetagria, formerly known as Strayquestria and the Wolflands, is a country located in the western side(unofficial) of Atlantian Oceania. A humble population of about 23 million humans, sentient ponies, deities(mostly ancient Greek), werewolves, and vampires, Twicetagria is racially diverse. The de facto national languages include English, Twicetagrian Russian, ancient Greek and Latin, but there are 45 more known languages in Twicetagria.
Most of the Twicetagrian population lives in the huge, bustling metropolitan areas splattered throughout Twicetagria: Twice Square --the capital--, Alphaxrie(predominantly domesticated werewolves), Legothria and Sranchies(deities and demigods make up a large part of the demographics) and the newly founded Velikiygrad, which translates to 'great city' in Twicetagrian English.
The monarchs of Twicetagria are the highly-revered God Jihyo and Lord FLUTTERS. Tourists and foreigners are to abide by the rules set to respect any ruling power. The deities are mostly Roman or Greek gods who occasionally come and visit Twicetagria, due to ancient Greece and Rome having ties with us. There are also vampires who live in the Feruscian Highlands. They are a friendly and hospitable bunch, and their accommodation is usually 5-star. They speak English normally, but speak Romanian sometimes.

The Twicetagrian Football Team officially represents Twicetagria in men's international football since their maiden match in 202 P.Y. Their maiden international tournament competition, the AOCAF 60, was left unsuccessful. A disappointing BoF 72 finished off with a surprisingly successful WCQ85 and CoH, going to finish 4th in the former's group stage, and the Round of 32 in the latter. Most of Belgium's home matches are played at the Stray Kids Colosseum in Twice Square.

Jamie Han has made a comeback into the national team after a largely successful WCQ85 season. Known as the Flying Frog by most fans, Han is agile and nimble, jumping around the goal to save the ball in. Despite his rapid aging, he will still be part of the Starting XI.
For the two newbies, Haniet and Namin, they've definitely made their mark domestically. Haniet was second to (guess who) Han in clean sheets in the Megalieger. Haniet is an exciting youth prospect, and it's exciting to see if he can step up to the international level.
Namin may only be 2 years younger than Han, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have skill. Rising through the ranks, into the Megalieger, Namin has had a whopping 83 clean sheets in his 205 career starts, all for FC 08 Niecenbadler. Will he be able to go against the best of the best though, we'll find out.

If you hoped you'll never seen the Kim-era defenders again, here's Korros Cho to burst your bubble. However, despite his age Korros Cho has steadily improved from his much-unneeded chaos a few years ago. Now the captain of his team, he is a very straightforward and direct person who always bosses people(in a good way) around.
Straying away from the past, we have a fresh new line of defenders, who are probably better than last time round. We have the famous trio of very good defenders: Romanov, Vasiliev and Martins. Romanov may be one of the only females in the team, but that doesn't mean she isn't good. She lives up to the challenge, and her defending humiliates even the best of forwards. Vasiliev is a brash and brave person, never failing to take opportunities when he sees them. Stormy Martins may be a minority(he's a sentient pony), but that doesn't stop him from being a menace on the field.
Holffman-Agapetus may not have been mentioned above but he is still some quality person(too lazy to elaborate). Aelius may be old, but he still somehow earned a spot. We're not discarding his great skills and tackling prowess.
Mazepin and Koulouris are two young players, very keen to impress Ryoviste. Mazepin has helped her team out of troublesome counterattacks and corners, while Koulouris just loves the ball(too lazy to say anything else).

Basically everyone in the Kim-era have been eradicated. Under Raiche Ryoviste, the team has gone through a complete reform, with the midfield undertaking much change. Instead of just pure talent, Ryoviste is also looking for fast players who can charge through the flanks, and strong players who can shield oncoming players before damage is done to the defense.
The wingers all succeed in fulfilling the first priority. Dargozhov and Apollon are undoubtedly one of the fastest players in Twicetagria. Despite his aging, Dargozhov still has a lot of pace and speed. Obviously, without perfect ball control and dribbling, you would get nowhere. Apollon boasts one of the best first touches in the team, and never loses the ball. Adding that to his speed, he is unstoppable.
We're not going to discard Rominevskiy, though. As a lioness hunts down her prey, Rominevskiy tracks his opponents as if he were going to eat them. For his muscular build, he is very nimble and monkeylike. He creeps up to his targets without them suspecting. Then, he snatches the ball from them and pumps the ball upfield.
A. Vladimirescu may not share the same amount of fame as his striking twin, but he is known as the best academy graduate. He came from the Twicetagrian National Youth Academy. While he may not be as special as he was a few years ago, but he still holds much value.
Jeremys and Hallescu may be oldies, but they're still besties and gems for the national team. They are scary towards all kind of opposition, the way they are able to fire up the team as they attack the hapless defense of their opponents. Andi is also another female footballer on the rise. Already breaking the record number of assists, she looks like a players many will be fearing(and worshipping) soon.

The more famous twin, Augustin Vladimirescu is the new star of the team. He's a goal-scoring machine. An award-winning archer (his shots are accurate). A magician. He flexes his skills on his opponents in his way. He fakes the ball to the left, before swerving to his right. Dribbling towards goal, he drives it into the top left corner. Goal! That's the sort of magic he does on the daily.
Aidor, Maelorus and Harakrets require honorable mentions for having such class and such high quality in them. They all are like duplicates of each other: smart on the ball. They know what to do with them. They can defeat even the best of the defenders.
Longwangs is also a good player. Since the striker market is less demanding than others, Longwangs is like the best of the rest. Or vice versa.

The Tactics Box

The Hitback Tiki-taka
This tactic is used when our defenders have won the ball from an (counter)attack, corner or goal. The attacking midfielders will be located just past the half-line, towards our goal. The defender who won the ball will then pass to the closest midfielder, usually the CM or CDM. He/she will then pass the ball to the striker or the attacking midfielders. They will then rush through to the goal. Passing the ball amongst each other, when they get the chance, they will strike.

The Pressuremaker
This tactic is used when the ball is intercepted or won in the middle third. The players will tire out the defense with quick play or passing. When the defense doesn't suspect anything, the ball will be passed to the wingers, who make a run along the flanks into the goal. The ball will be crossed into the box, where the other striker or attacking midfielder/winger will convert it into a shot.

The Incorporated States of Euran Oceania Territories is a parliamentary federal dominion of Eura, formed of the Euran zone of the former Inevitable Syndicate and the Whittorian Islands. It has a population of around forty million people which is quickly rising, making it a beacon of diversity home to Syndicatians, Whittorian refugees, Euran migrants, Apoxians, Audioslavians, Samebans and many others. It has possibly the world's largest artificial crater, which dominates the landscape west of what is now a rebuilt Fligsive, the capital of this new entity. Its home stadium is the the Flynn Arena, where Eura beat Polar Islandstates 4-2 in the famous 66th World Cup final. Few would have predicted that the colours of red, blue and gold would become permanent there but its happened, and the stadium is now back in good condition after an expensive refit to return it to the 96,500 capacity it held previously.

Previously a wooden stadium, the current iteration of the Flynn Arena was rebuilt after a great fire destroyed the stadium during a game between Fligsive FC and Magnaeus City. Nowadays, it's a little more robust, having been the subject of many refurbishment projects over the years. The stadium was easily reachable on the Fligsive Metro before the violent overthrow of the Corvidae regime and the associated disaster in Fligsive. It now sports a combination of the old paint job as well as Euran blue and gold while the local club Fligsive FC are still in existence despite drawing lower crowds after the Mertagne exodus. Though they did not play in the hastily cobbled together amateur EOTLeague, they are the dominant side in the new professional EOFL.

Euran Oceania Territories formed a national football team not long after the founding of the political entity, a project conjured up by the Euran government Ministry of Sport to imbue a sense of cohesion among the diverse population of EOT. They played a series of friendlies against other "Eurasphere" sides from Endemia and Rushmore in a lengthy state subsidised tour. Their first games were defeats against Daera, Itor and the Ferguson Islands, before an unexpected 4-3 victory against Helving, despite their Euraleague star Scott Barnes scoring a hat trick.

They then entered the 50th AOCAF full of excitement despite having a mostly amateur team, including serving military personnel, but were promptly demolished in the group stages by several teams. Now, with the citizenship laws relaxed to allow the growth of the Territories, the "Underdogs" as they have come to call themselves were suddenly confident that they might be able to pull off a shock or two. Their first manager was of top class pedigree - Tolgus Tregajorran, a footballing hero in Apox who was well known on the international scene.

Tregajorran managed to persuade some former Apoxian internationals, playing in Eura and with no international allegiance following the temporary dismemberment of Apoxian professional football, to sign the relevant papers and make the surprise switch to EOT, as well as Euran's and other international exiles. After several years of bit part competition EOT competed in the World Cup qualifiers for the first time and in turn the Baptism of Fire, after the Sameban national team withdrew from the Endemian International Sporting Agreement and international football.

EOT performed poorly at the Baptism of Fire, going out at the group stage, but put on a respectable showing in their qualifying group for the 80th World Cup. Tregajorran's unexpected departure and a chaotic period followed with Rhys West as manager, who was soon sacked over an off-the-pitch indiscretion. It ended with the controversial appointment of Euran footballing legend and cult icon Skorji Oslograd halfway through World Cup 81 qualifying. Immediately applying Oslograd's "Skorjiball" approach - best summarised as an extremely aggressive and fluid attacking game interrupted sporadically by the manager doing something inappropriate - the team secured some noteworthy results but remained very much an underdog competitor reliant on an aging core within its squad.

Oslograd's dream is to turn them into the living embodiment of "the way of the warrior" and to qualify for the World Cup. His first AOCAF was the first tournament where Olsograd was able to demonstrate his own approach to the game in full but the results were mixed. Then he led the side into World Cup 82 qualifying, but a dreadful start to the campaign snuffed out any hopes, although a later revival ensured a semi-respectable finish. But the team did lose a bit of its soul, playing more conservatively than previously, a trend that Oslograd reversed at AOCAF LVIII. The Expats excited fans with their performances and took the scalp of Valanora, easily the biggest victory in the young teams history before exiting in the knockouts against Banija.

As a result the squad went into qualifiers for World Cup 83 and the following AOCAF largely unchanged, only to disappoint again, and then again at World Cup 84 and the 76th Cup of Harmony. Several retirements and the ageing of players left the squad looking weak for amidst rumours that Oslograd would quit, with his mind turned to helping grow the domestic game in the Oceania Territories - the launch of a new domestic league having now occurred. Oslograd, now 56, quashed these rumours by opting to extend his existing contract and undertaking some of the most radical changes to the team since its formation.

Despite an above expectations performance at AOCAF 60, including a memorable 4-3 win over Audioslavia, it all came apart for the Expats in qualifying for the 85th World Cup and the 77th Cup of Harmony where EOT were routinely humiliated and left both tournaments at the earliest stage in terrible form, a huge step backwards on previous attempts at qualifying relative to expectations. The young dominion's footballing pride, the player's reputations and Oslograd's entire philosophy were being openly queried by the international media - Oslograd's headline-grabbing theatrics had come back to bite him.

Following that disastrous campaign Oslograd has embarked on the most radical overhaul of the Expats squad since the arrival of the original "Expat" contingent led by Karl Cotrell and David Cooke, chucking out a whole group of players deemed "past it" and bringing in unproven talent from EOT's brand new EOFL. Several players have retired and many more have been dropped. The formation has changed again too, abandoning three at the back and now resembling a 5-4-1, but with both fullbacks lumped forward and only two strikers, making it a kind of horror movie version of a 3-5-2.

This is a hell of a gamble by Oslograd who for the first time in his tenure faces a serious threat of the sack. In the past he was perceived as being too big to fail, especially given his popularity in the Territories and back in Eura, and his excellent reputation as a player and early in his management career. Now he is increasingly becoming more of a meme than a manager and has put the EOFF in the red with his antics - this AOCAF, the 86th World Cup qualifying campaign and (probably) the 78th Cup of Harmony are tournaments where Skorji Oslograd simply must deliver.

23 year old Bakermouth keeper Charlie Ross is one of the Territories best young prospects. That’s quite a remarkable feat when you start most games in a World Cup campaign where the team conceded 58 goals. 58! It would be harsh to blame Ross though – had former first choice Tammy Barton been in goal it might have been double that. Still, he is inexperienced and naïve like all younger keepers, and needs time to grow. Barton is now relegated to third choice as, for the first time, the Territories have a third keeper to choose from; Steve Ellis comes in, uncapped and straight in as the second choice keeper.

The defence have a lot to answer for after the complete nightmare they experienced in the last World Cup qualifiers and Cup of Harmony. Many reasons were speculated on for the regular capitulation of the most talented and experienced area of the team; Euran-born Gold League players who don’t care about EOT turning up for the sponsorship money, Gerduns and Strong declining with age, and most importantly of all Oslograd’s tactical experiment of three at the back proving to be a catastrophe so far.

Oslograd seems to have publicly decided the first two of those causes are the problem, and privately the third though he wouldn’t admit it. To address the alleged laziness of some of the Euraleague players, all of them – not just the defenders – were taken on a “morale tour”, where Oslograd forced them to work at a potato waffle factory for two weeks without pay. Reportedly Jason Potts was found to be an excellent factory worker, but more importantly broke down in tears and acceded to Oslograd’s demand never to half-arse a performance for him again. He was not alone.

The decline of Gerduns and Strong with age (who are the best defenders in the team) has been addressed by subjecting the two to an MMA match in Oslograd’s private fighting ring to decide who should hold on to a starting place. Despite Gerdun’s guile and persistence, Strong’s power and superior strength won out, meaning he retains his starting place while Marvin Walsh replaces Gerduns, deservedly so if you compare their club form. Finally, there is the tactics. Unlike the other two measures Oslograd did not announce this publicly. However the press have found out pretty easily from training ground drills that Oslograd is now employing five defenders rather than three, albeit with the reintroduced full backs playing as wingbacks.

There is more change in terms of personnel aside from the other differences to previous squads. Hans Cabel is now the first choice left back by virtue of playing regularly in Eura despite Jacob Hayden’s hugely impressive form for Fligsive FC. Jack Ream and Patrick Spencer are dropped altogether after looking hopeless when they played in the recent World Cup and Cup of Harmony campaigns. They are replaced by the young Hailey Parkes, who is one of three call-ups looking to become the first female Expat to win a cap, and Burgess FC hard-man Baily Davison. Danny Lawrence has retired from international duty after falling out of favour and is replaced by 21 year old Michael Ford, who Oslograd claims is the reincarnation of ancient King of Bastion, Julian IV. No, we don’t get it either.

Severe cuts have been made in midfield which is where Oslograd is reportedly most unhappy with recent performances, in particular with the lack of quality depth in the midfield, their inability to create goals when missing one of Chadwick, Fuller or Conway, and their defensive fragility. For that reason it is mainly the second string players that have suffered the chop; Peter Brooks, Nathan Harding, Mark Little and Joe Irmine are all dropped. Harding and Irmine’s age means they will likely get back into the team at some point but there can be no guarantees for the older Little and Brooks despite their formidable EOFL records.

When you take into account the retirement of Louie McKenzie from international duty there were now five vacancies to be filled. Oslograd looked to the EOFL for replacements showing the benefit of professionalising EOT’s league structure, even though we are only a few seasons in. In came Jake Clark, James Newton, Amelia Byrne, Tom Mitchell and Taylor Williams. Newton is the oldest and has been supremely impressive in EOFL, while Jake Clark is in his mid-twenties but is plenty experienced. Byrne, Mitchell and Williams are all rawer – less EOFL experience, but plenty of potential, and in the seasons they have played so far they have been very good.

Clark is fortunate enough to have been promoted straight into the first team while the out of form George Richards drops to the bench despite being EOT’s most experienced defensive midfielder, while Clark is more of a box to box player. Nolberto Dravon has also moved up the order to take on a bigger role. This is now an unusually youthful midfield for the Expats and it’s hard to know what to expect of them. What is known is that despite the complete overhaul of the rotation and backup options the core trio of Chadwick, Fuller and Conway remain irreplaceable and will start as many games as possible.

The Expats continue to be wholly reliant on Pierre-Louis Le Tonnelier up front whose flair, personality and skill continue to make him a fan favourite. Without the Farrenton Athletic striker it’s hard to see where the goals would come from. The abrupt formation change from three forwards to one means Le Tonnelier will now take on an even bigger burden of responsibility, with the numbers up front being sacrificed for a stronger midfield. Garret Ramsey has maybe lost the wonderboy shine in Oslograd’s eyes as he approaches 30, but he stays in the starting line-up due to his work rate and uncanny ability to score strange goals at useful moments.

Tom Duffy has a similar attitude to Le Tonnelier in terms of not training properly and treating his Expats career as a bit of a laugh. However he doesn’t deliver the goods in the same way, barely scoring in recent campaigns, and so he has been unceremoniously demoted within the squad to fifth choice striker. Oslograd publicly labelled him a “lazy shit” and maybe that will put a rocket up Duffy to prove the unorthodox manager wrong – it can’t be good for the 32 year old’s ego that before his legs have even gone he’s been put below two inexperienced EOFL strikers in the pecking order.

Dartmoor striker Paul Hooper has been dropped altogether having played dreadfully in his few appearances for the Expats. He is replaced by Charlie Rowe, who along with Justin Quibble forms an interesting pair of talented strikers from EOFL, one at Burgess FC and the other New Bastion. Quibble has a handful of caps already while Rowe is yet to play for EOT – it’s likely that Oslograd will throw these young prospects in at the deep end at this AOCAF to test their mettle.

Despite the absolute trainwreck that was World Cup qualifying, the Expats stick with their 3-4-3. If they are losing and need to score, they tend to stick with that. If they need to defend a lead Oslograd tends to be rather all or nothing, and will throw on the most defensive formation possible at short notice.

"Remind me again," said Aaron Cole, Starblaydi national team Assistant Manager, with the usual cheeky glint in his eye, "why the Under-21s training ground is twenty miles away from the senior team's?"

In the back of the executive chauffeured vehicle next to him, Manager Ázëwyn Fëanáro continued to tap and swipe on her ultra-smooth, ultra-thin, ultra-black handheld device, and wondered what her answer should be this time. Aaron asked this question every time they traveled from one complex to the other, whether it was senior, Under-21, or Under-18 facilities. It had never really been a problem before, when different managers took charge of the different age group teams, but Ázëwyn Fëanáro had been in charge of all of them for exactly thirty years, and now that Aaron had retired from playing and joined her backroom staff, he had to go through this commuting process too.

"I can't change the laws of physics?" She offered, not looking up from her screen.

"Oh, come on," Aaron replied, taking his eyes away from the view outside the window to his left and casting his gaze at his boss, "I don't believe that for a second."

It only took a few more minutes of sitting in silence, just as Aaron expected. He knew about the fast and slow thinking patterns of the brain, and knew that the Manager was one who used the fast brain on the pitch, and the slow brain for everything else. It was probably something to do with being an elf, and having that essential immortality and experience over thousands of years, teaching you that there was all the time in the world to ponder over some questions, while other things needed reacting to immediately. Eventually she'd mull it over enough, decide upon an appropriate and measured reaction to it, then provoke some discussion and see where he was coming from. Aaron had learned that about her while playing under her, as his natural game had just never fit the mold of the image that the Starblaydi team had for itself. Short and furious arguments had turned into long and thoughtful conversations, and with it had come better ideas and compromise between the two of them. That was the reason why Aaron had got himself into the list of the top ten goalscorers for his country, and that was why he had the big 'AC' on his Starblaydi national team coaching jacket.

"Does the journey time affect your coaching ability?" Ázëwyn asked, still without taking her eyes from the screen in her hand.

There it is, Aaron thought to himself.

"It's a good time to catch up on emails, sure," Aaron said, doing his best to keep his eyes fixed out of the window, "and seeing the Jhani countryside go by is never a bad thing."

"I'm sensing a the presence of a 'but' clinging precariously to the end of that sentence."

"What if we could walk from one training pitch to another," he offhandedly mused, or at least attempted to, "where the youth sides can look across to some of the best senior players and directly aspire to be them. We could even set the standard for the multiverse in a single institute of national excellence, training and performance. Train players as much as it does coaches, instill your ideas from teenagers all the way up to full internationals and the staff that guide them all at once, in one place. A world-class training facility and elite centre of performance, where we build a pathway for the youngest players to develop their full potential and lead them to the national team."

"That would be," Ázëwyn's fingers had noticeably stopped tapping away on her tablet, "quite the project."

"Oh I think we'd be able to manage it, somehow," Aaron ran his fingers over the stubble on his chin as he prepared his biggest gamble, "after all, if the Krytenians can manage one..."

This time he didn't get a verbal response, and figured he might have gone that one step too far. They were nearing the senior team training facilities, after all, and it would soon be time to have the professional work face on. His Manager was not the type of person to make large decisions like that on the spot, especially when prompted by the light jibe of a shot to national pride - a pride which Aaron wasn't entirely sure she actually possessed, given that being an elf seemed more important to her than being a Starblaydi. Accidents of geography were not the idea string to tug on.

As the car pulled up outside the main entrance to the training facility, Ázëwyn still hadn't said anything. The news would be coming out of Equestria in a few days and all thoughts would be turning to the 61st edition of the multiverse's premier regional football tournament. Who would Starblaydia be drawn with? How can they optimse their performances? Could they conceivably win it a seventh time? All these questions and more had been bouncing around the sports fans of the nation for months. As they opened their doors and stepped out onto the tarmac, Ázëwyn shot him a single order across the roof of the car.

"I want an outline proposal on my desk by Monday."

Aaron, who already had the outline proposal sitting in his bag for the past ten days, simply smiled and nodded.

Now we get the ball rolling.

NATIONAL ELITE FOOTBALL CENTRE - Grand Unveiling

After three years of construction, and debate among journalists whether the project was going to end up a white elephant, the time had finally come to cut the ribbon and officially unveil the new headquarters of the Krytenian national team.

The sprawling complex, on the outskirts of Walton, is the beating heart of the KFA's famed "Project 87". Boasting a dozen full-size grass pitches - and four 3G all-weather ones, a state-of-the art gym facility, and numerous smaller pitches and indoor training facilities, the main focus of today's grand tour and unveiling was the central complex.

Known as "The Brain", this complex is more like a small university. Boasting the nation's best sports psychologists, world-class nutritionists, dieticians, and personal trainers, and a permanent cadre of coaching staff and tactical experts, the aim of the complex is to ensure that Krytenia's future generations of footballers and coaches are not just physically up to the task, but mentally on the ball as well. The KFA have even linked up with the University of Walton's mental health research department to help with issues such as anxiety, depression, and even addiction.

Delegations from across the region, including former Stanton Town manager - and now Chromatika head coach - Richard Valens, as well as representatives from Legalese, Delaclava, and most surprisingly of all, Starblaydia. It's a sad fact for those in charge of the SFA that they now lag behind their great rivals in terms of facilities, and they'll surely have been taking notes on how green the grass now is on the west bank of the Beck.

The national team will be giving the NEFC its first shakedown over the next week or so as they begin training in advance of their trip to Equestria for the sixty-first AOCAF Cup. Though it would be nice to park some silverware here on the first go, this complex is all about the future; let's hope the stars of tomorrow can be moulded to success among the gleaming glass edifices of north-eastern Krytenia.

The default Saltsteadish strategy can be summed up in one phrase: “the best offence is a good defence”. The Stallions play a highly opportunistic attack, lying in wait for an opportunity rather than charging head-on, with possession mostly confined to the midfield.
