Breakthrough has been reached at the Orentan summit. New Vesvai, which is a country that was invited only as a guest/observer formally, despite having declared MDAA aspirations since the revolution in that country, has made the second big step in the direction towards MDAA. The first big step in that path was the signing of the MDAA–New Vesvai Action Plan, which became a framework that guided relations between MDAA and New Vesvai. However, this time, the country has made a giant leap forward, bringing it half-way to the final goal. New Vesvai has signed an official association with MDAA. This has promoted the country from being just a regular partner of the alliance to being an associate state. New Vesvai has become a third associate state of MDAA, joining the ranks of Daredland and Smoya. The representation of New Vesvai at the summit received warm congratulations from other delegations present for this achievement. The Sunrisian delegation declared that New Vesvai can continue to advance towards the path of full membership from this point in the eyes of Sunrisia, however, as always, until that day arrives, there is going to need to be a consensus among all member states. This time, there was a consensus on whether to sign an association with MDAA and that consensus was obviously in favor. With New Vesvai now having become an associate state of MDAA, the delegations of New Vesvai and Sunrisia had agreed there and then that Mutual Defense Treaty (Sunrisia–New Vesvai) is no longer needed and should be allowed to be superseded by the association of New Vesvai with MDAA. In other words, the bilateral agreement will go defunct.
The Orentan summit has, unfortunately, not brought a lot of progress for Daredland. The next natural step for the country was to be invited to finally join, because it has already been an associate state of MDAA for a while. In fact, there was even an alternative formula developed, where Daredland could join MDAA, but its’ membership would exclude territories occupied by the self-proclaimed Hasperan Republic and the self-proclaimed Weniges Reich. This formula was discussed at the summit even. Alas, nothing had happened this time. Nevertheless, the Sunrisian delegation asked the Daredi delegation not to give up. Another declaration was made in support of the territorial integrity of Daredland from Sunrisia individually and from the MDAA alliance. The country was promised that it would not be left on its’ own and would continue receiving whatever help it needed.
The summit was de facto led by Cáldăs Flórêna, Secretary of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia in MDAA, the head of Sunrisian representation in MDAA and representative of Sunrisia as a country that hosted this summit. He was accompanied by outgoing National Defense Consultant (NDC) Mústêll Cónsîla, outgoing Minister of Security of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Rêbór Acértâ and outgoing Minister of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Nívâl Rêtráctăs. Vice President Césâ Gáûdĕr also participated, but President Addél Dîlectên did not. Secretary Cáldăs Flórêna recognized that this summit and his work with helping progress the relations of MDAA and New Vesvai is most likely the last big contribution he is making as Secretary of Sunrisia in MDAA. It is already a fact that this would be the last big contribution made by National Defense Consultant (NDC) Mústêll Cónsîla, Minister Rêbór Acértâ and Minister Nívâl Rêtráctăs, who are leaving their current government offices, as the Convet of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia is currently confirming the President’s new nominees for those and other administration positions. Secretary Cáldăs Flórêna believes that the President was waiting until this summit takes place and Secretary Flórêna basically hosts it, before letting him go and replacing him with somebody new. That is why Secretary Flórêna was not let go with the rest of the last administration’s officials. The President wanted to let Secretary Flórêna finish what he had basically started or at least advanced. Nevertheless, the Secretary said there is no grudge over the “impending”, as he had put it, leaving of the office of the Secretary of Sunrisia in MDAA, because there are other positions he can take and things he can do. In fact, there is an option that the Secretary might just be demoted, but remain part of Sunrisian representation in MDAA.
The MDAA summit in Orentan began yesterday, on Sunday. Today, Monday, is the second day of the summit. All of its’ proceedings, formal and informal, as well as all functions that could be incorporated into the context of the summit, including more public forums or individual discussions between representatives of different participating countries, along with interacting with the media, would all be incorporated. The intention is to use the format of the summit and the remaining time here to the maximum productive benefit of everybody involved, according to the hosting Sunrisian delegation.
