New Vesvai Signs An Association With MDAA At The Orentan Summit

Image

Breakthrough has been reached at the Orentan summit. New Vesvai, which is a country that was invited only as a guest/observer formally, despite having declared MDAA aspirations since the revolution in that country, has made the second big step in the direction towards MDAA. The first big step in that path was the signing of the MDAA–New Vesvai Action Plan, which became a framework that guided relations between MDAA and New Vesvai. However, this time, the country has made a giant leap forward, bringing it half-way to the final goal. New Vesvai has signed an official association with MDAA. This has promoted the country from being just a regular partner of the alliance to being an associate state. New Vesvai has become a third associate state of MDAA, joining the ranks of Daredland and Smoya. The representation of New Vesvai at the summit received warm congratulations from other delegations present for this achievement. The Sunrisian delegation declared that New Vesvai can continue to advance towards the path of full membership from this point in the eyes of Sunrisia, however, as always, until that day arrives, there is going to need to be a consensus among all member states. This time, there was a consensus on whether to sign an association with MDAA and that consensus was obviously in favor. With New Vesvai now having become an associate state of MDAA, the delegations of New Vesvai and Sunrisia had agreed there and then that Mutual Defense Treaty (Sunrisia–New Vesvai) is no longer needed and should be allowed to be superseded by the association of New Vesvai with MDAA. In other words, the bilateral agreement will go defunct.

The Orentan summit has, unfortunately, not brought a lot of progress for Daredland. The next natural step for the country was to be invited to finally join, because it has already been an associate state of MDAA for a while. In fact, there was even an alternative formula developed, where Daredland could join MDAA, but its’ membership would exclude territories occupied by the self-proclaimed Hasperan Republic and the self-proclaimed Weniges Reich. This formula was discussed at the summit even. Alas, nothing had happened this time. Nevertheless, the Sunrisian delegation asked the Daredi delegation not to give up. Another declaration was made in support of the territorial integrity of Daredland from Sunrisia individually and from the MDAA alliance. The country was promised that it would not be left on its’ own and would continue receiving whatever help it needed.

The summit was de facto led by Cáldăs Flórêna, Secretary of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia in MDAA, the head of Sunrisian representation in MDAA and representative of Sunrisia as a country that hosted this summit. He was accompanied by outgoing National Defense Consultant (NDC) Mústêll Cónsîla, outgoing Minister of Security of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Rêbór Acértâ and outgoing Minister of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Nívâl Rêtráctăs. Vice President Césâ Gáûdĕr also participated, but President Addél Dîlectên did not. Secretary Cáldăs Flórêna recognized that this summit and his work with helping progress the relations of MDAA and New Vesvai is most likely the last big contribution he is making as Secretary of Sunrisia in MDAA. It is already a fact that this would be the last big contribution made by National Defense Consultant (NDC) Mústêll Cónsîla, Minister Rêbór Acértâ and Minister Nívâl Rêtráctăs, who are leaving their current government offices, as the Convet of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia is currently confirming the President’s new nominees for those and other administration positions. Secretary Cáldăs Flórêna believes that the President was waiting until this summit takes place and Secretary Flórêna basically hosts it, before letting him go and replacing him with somebody new. That is why Secretary Flórêna was not let go with the rest of the last administration’s officials. The President wanted to let Secretary Flórêna finish what he had basically started or at least advanced. Nevertheless, the Secretary said there is no grudge over the “impending”, as he had put it, leaving of the office of the Secretary of Sunrisia in MDAA, because there are other positions he can take and things he can do. In fact, there is an option that the Secretary might just be demoted, but remain part of Sunrisian representation in MDAA.

The MDAA summit in Orentan began yesterday, on Sunday. Today, Monday, is the second day of the summit. All of its’ proceedings, formal and informal, as well as all functions that could be incorporated into the context of the summit, including more public forums or individual discussions between representatives of different participating countries, along with interacting with the media, would all be incorporated. The intention is to use the format of the summit and the remaining time here to the maximum productive benefit of everybody involved, according to the hosting Sunrisian delegation.

Novel Illness Identified as Combination of Two Viruses, Named "RETRIT-20" and "PVAX-20"

Image

Freie Reichsstadt Engelberg, Englean Kaiserreich -- Today the Institute for Disease Control and Research released the newly-discovered identity of the novel illness that has been reported in the Wilhelm Archipelago and in other nations around the world. It has been determined that the illness is not actually a singular disease, but a combination of two viruses. The first virus, named Ritterland-retrovirus 2020 or "RETRIT-20," is a Group VII retrovirus - the same grouping as the hepatitis virus. The second disease, named "Pneumoviridae I-20," has been determined to be extremely similar to the family Pneumoviridae - the virus family that causes pneumonia. The combined illness has been noted to have an average incubation period of 19 days.

Within the ICDR's research, it has been found that a form of relationship has been developed between the two viruses. Lead researcher, Dr. Ekkehard Lustenberger stated that it essentially can be described as "Wherever RETRIT-20 goes, PVAX-20 follows." Lustenberger continued to describe the way in which the two viruses work:

"PVAX-20 is a negative-sense single stranded RNA virus, but not of the normal type you would expect from the Pneumoviridae family. PVAX-20 is most similar to the Human metapneumovirus, which infects virtually all infants in the world but only causes mild infections in humans in the form of the common cold. Only adults that have serious respiratory problems will have serious symptoms.

However, it appears that PVAX-20 has mutated to become a 'super' HMPV. It has somehow created a better replication process after infection, attaching itself to not only airway epithelial cells within the nose and lung but also the muscle tissue of the lungs as well. The virus has also been noted to replicate exponentially once it reaches the lungs, and is spread through the water droplets within the breath.

PVAX-20 is unique, however, due to its strangely weak ability to cause initial infections. As HMPV itself only causes mild infections in healthy adults, PVAX-20 is seemingly only capable of notable infections within non-human mammals. This is where RETRIT-20 comes in. As a retrovirus, RETRIT-20 uses its own reverse transcriptase enzyme (which we have named RIT-ASE-20), to produce DNA from its own RNA. In biology, the standard dogma is that DNA is transcripted into RNA which is then translated into proteins. In terms of retroviruses, the new DNA that is created is then incorporated into the genome of the host cell and is then treated by the cell as its own genome. The cellular 'factory' then goes on to produce the viral genes along with its own genes, producing more viruses. Until infection, it is impossible to detect the virus.

Similar to HIV, RETRIT-20 causes the host to become immunocompromised. This is how PVAX-20 overcomes its inability to infect healthy humans, by 'cooperating' with RETRIT-20.
"

When questioned if it is possible for one to get one virus, but not the other, Dr. Lustenberger stated that it is unlikely, but possible. "Those who are infected with RETRIT-20 could possibly not become infected with PVAX-20, but would be permanently infected with RETRIT-20 until a cure could be developed. It is possible for PVAX-20 to mutate, allowing it to be capable of infection without RETRIT-20, and would become independent. This would make it substantially easier to combat."

Within the mainland, the nation is contemplating on how to prevent a widespread pandemic from occurring. Within the Reichstag, members have been unable to create a proper course of action. However, those within the Imperial Chancellery, the Imperial Ministry of Health, and His Imperial Majesty have been cooperating to create a plan to prepare the mainland. They are expected to release their guidelines for the nation by Friday. Currently, all flights to Wilhelmsarchipel and Kurzera have been grounded and screening of fliers from suspected affected areas has been enacted. Visitors from regions near the affected are advised to self-quarantine for 23 days. The Imperial Health System has also begun inspections of major facilities around the nation.

In addition to Kurzera and Wilhelmsarchipel, about 10 cases have been reported in Neu-Breissau - the territory closest to Wilhelmsarchipel in Ophion. The Neu-Breissau Territorial Health Commission has stated that a possible quarantine will be placed on the territory.

NEW VESVAI BROADCASTING

Summit Breakthrough: New Vesvai Finally Becomes An Associate Member Of MDAA

In a historic moment New Vesvai has become the third associate member of MDAA. This is a half-way step before full membership according to MDAA officials. The status was achieved when New Vesvai’s representatives signed an association with representatives of MDAA member nations at the MDAA summit in Orentan, Sunrisia. New Vesvai’s Prime Minister Adi Letago led New Vesvai’s delegation at the summit and was a signatory to the association. He called it a milestone in New Vesvai’s short history as an independent nation and a milestone of New Vesvai’s Silver Revolution. The Prime Minister thanked all members of MDAA and turned to New Vesvai’s ally in the Council of 3 Daredland. This time Daredland did not make breakthroughs at the summit and was not invited to join MDAA with its territories not under Daredi control being excluded. But PM Adi Letago said that New Vesvai supports and will continue to support Daredland. He also shared a sentimental and joyful moment with Daredi delegation by telling them that New Vesvai and Daredland now have not only the Council of 3 membership in common but also are both now associate members of MDAA. PM Letago declared that the association on New Vesvai’s behalf will be the first thing the Parliament will do upon his return. He’ll see it through. With New Vesvai now an associate member of MDAA an agreement was reached with Sunrisian representatives to allow the individual New Vesvai–Sunrisia defense pact go defunct.

When talking to the press after the summit PM Adi Letago said that today’s focus should be on MDAA progress but he said it now motivates New Vesvai for SOWEFTA progress too. The Prime Minister said his government will seek a free trade agreement with the trade bloc or a similar associate member status before it can join fully. He said that New Vesvai might initiate a Council of 3 meeting to ask Daredi representatives at the Council to share their experience how Daredland achieved associate member status in both MDAA and SOWEFTA. That’s something that New Vesvai wants to achieve too. In case of such a meeting more focus would be on SOWEFTA because MDAA association has already been achieved by New Vesvai.

Novel Virus Confirmed To Be In Belantica: 17 Total Cases
With the outbreak of a new novel virus from nearby Ritterland, there is now 17 cases of this new disease within the United Queendoms. Due to the rapid spread of the disease from Ritterland into other parts of the world, the Disease Control and Prevention Agency, DCPA, has begun work to study the characteristics of the disease and conduct research. Curently, it is believed that those inflected are indeed in either self-isolation, or are currently at medical centers to be treated. The DCPA is working with both state and local health agencies across the country on how to counter and reduce the spread of the disease further into the nation.

"As of this morning, the United Queendoms has 17 confirmed cases of this disease," Dr. Thomas Fiorre, the director of the Disease Control and Prevention Agency (DCPA) stated earlier today,"and due to the nature of how easily transmitted it is, we only expect the number to rise in the following days. In order to protect the privacy of those infected, we will only give out information that is unrevealing and informative to the public. All of these individuals were in Ritterland within the past two weeks, as it is a popular destination for overseas travel for Belanticans. Nine of these case are male, and the remaining female, with an average age of 46 years. Ten of these cases are currently being treated at hospitals, while the remaining are believed to be in self-isolation. At this time, we speculate that they have contracted the disease either from the local Ritterland population, from any hotels that may have had cases reported at, or while onboard an aircraft. Recently, health officials within Ritterland have discovered that the disease is a hybrid between two viruses: RETRIT-20, and PVAX-20. RETRIT-20 is classified as a Group VII retrovirus, which is in the same classification as the Hepatitis virus. PVAX-20 has been determined to hold similar characteristics to the Pneuoviridae family, which is what causes pneumonia. Both of these viruses are working together and likely to cause symptoms for both viruses. To help protect yourself and others around you, we ask those who have been to Ritterland within the past two weeks, flown on aircraft that frequent Ritterland, or have been in close contact with any individuals who currently have the disease, to visit their primary care physician. As of late, we do not have an entire list of symptoms of this disease or a viable test for it, however, as more information comes in, we will be able to better identify the disease. Other ways to help prevent the spread of this disease among others is to practice vigilant hand washing, avoiding touching of the face, covering your mouth when sneezing or coughing with a tissue or elbow, practicing social distancing by keeping at least 6 feet of distance between yourself and others, and staying home if you feel sick. The DCPA will continue to monitor this situation, and be working hard to further research and combat this disease."

The DCPA is also asking for airlines that fly between Ritterland and Belantica to help with their efforts by providing lists of passengers over the last two weeks in order to allow for medical authorities to contact those passengers. Allied Airlines has stated that the airline will temporarily halt all their flights to and from Ritterland in order to help prevent the spread of disease and to sanitize the aircraft that fly on those routes. An airline spokesperson stated that "Passenger and crew safety is our top priority at Allied, and in order to protect those who fly with us, we have made this call. We offer our apologies to those planning to use our services to and from Ritterland, and will refund the prices of tickets in full." Other major airlines have not yet stated on whether they will be cancelling service to and from Ritterland, but due to Allied making the call, it can be expected that others will soon follow.

Outgoing Department Of Health And Outgoing Department Of The Interior And Home Affairs Give Updated Recommendations Regarding RETRIT-20/PVAX-20 Novel Illness

Outgoing Department of Health of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia and outgoing Department of the Interior and Home Affairs of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia have come out with brief statements, regarding updates on the new Novel Illness spreading overseas, which has now been identified as a combination of 2 viruses – RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20. The recommendations and updates are adjusted in accordance with incoming information from the sources of the Englean Kaiserreich and Englean overseas territories, which are facing the virus first-hand. Most recently, it has been reported that the disease has spread to Neu-Breissau in Ophion and into Belantica. 10 people have been reported to have been infected in Englean Neu-Breissau and 17 in Belantica.

Outgoing Department of the Interior and Home Affairs has stated that Sunrisia does not have direct air, sea or other communication with the territories that have been identified as currently being plagued by the virus. That includes Englean Wilhelm Archipelago and Neu-Breissau, as well as Rezuan Kurzera and Belantica. Given the current situation, the Sunrisian side will definitely not attempt to establish any such lines of communication, but if they were to exist, the outgoing Department of the Interior and Home Affairs would recommend to cut them off. However, other zones of risk, although the presence of the virus has not been confirmed in either yet and harsh measures to prevent it had already been taken, are North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia. There was a recognized risk that the virus could potentially leap over from Rezua’s Kurzera into South Baggnagia first and foremost due to geographic proximity. North Baggnagia was at risk as well. Both countries have decided to close themselves off from the rest of the world, except for each other, however, under the pressure of the Convet of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, the Dîlectên administration did manage to negotiate access, in order to deliver anti-virus protective gear to Sunrisian military personnel, humanitarian personnel and other Sunrisian nationals in both countries.

Currently, Sunrisia only has formal air and sea travel with South Baggnagia, because these lines of communication were not established with North Baggnagia due to Sunrisia and North Baggnagia having been enemies under the previous North Baggnagian regime. Access to South Baggnagia to deliver anti-virus supplies and lines of communication have been opened up, however, there is a question how much the countries can risk of keeping them open right now. Outgoing Department of the Interior and Home Affairs has stated that Sunrisia has already delivered several urgent waves of anti-virus supplies and will deliver several more to South Baggnagia, where they would then be distributed to Sunrisians in North Baggnagia as well. However, the Department recommends to soon seal that gate and for Sunrisia and South Baggnagia to bilaterally cancel air and sea lines of communication with each other. At the moment, the military of Sunrisia is conducting an ACREFOR post-war peacekeeping and recovery mission in North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia. There is personnel from Sunrisian NGOs – The White Dove (WD), Harmony League (HL) and the Liberty Conglomerate (LC) in North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia. They have all been travelling and deploying to North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia back and forth. The anti-virus supplies were and are being delivered to them. With the outgoing Department of the Interior and Home Affairs recommending to cut off the lines of communication to contain the spread of the possible virus to Sunrisia and the rest of Corentia from another part of the world, it means that the Sunrisian mission in North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia would just blantantly no longer could possibly be supplied anymore. Taking all these elements into account, lawmakers of the Convet have already begun talking more intensely about the possibility that Sunrisia may have to end and evacuate the ACREFOR mission and all NGO representatives out of North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia earlier than expected. Those parties that had already supported the evacuation earlier have only begun talking louder and stricter about, while those, who were skeptical, against or wanted to design a Plan B, are now realizing the reality of the situation as well. It will be left to see what decision the government will make. Convet Speaker Flórên Infána called upon colleagues at the parliament not to provoke panic.

Meanwhile, given the updates and discoveries made by Englean researchers and researchers based in Englean overseas territories, the outgoing Department of Health had to make new corrections to their previously-given recommendations. Previously, the recommendation was for all Sunrisians, whether military, humanitarian or other, returning from North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia, to self-isolate at home for 14 days. However, in accordance with the most recent first-hand updates from abroad, the Department has now raised the self-isolation recommendation period to 23 days, which is a recommendation that has been given to visitors from affected regions by Englean authorities, who have the unfortunate to be better “acquainted” with the new illness.

West Zilveren Self-Defense Forces (WZSDF) Hold First And Only/Last Military Parade To Celebrate The Military’s Formation

The State of West Zilveren Berg is holding a military parade in New Kengara today to celebrate the inauguration of the West Zilveren Self-Defense Forces (WZSDF) as the national military of the country and its’ launching into service. It is being promoted as the first and last military parade in West Zilveren Berg, because the government and several activist organizations hope it is going to be the only military parade in the country.

Before an army of troops and a crowd of gathered citizens, Chief Secretary Faas Van Hoebeek gave the following speech:

Today is not just a special or momentous occasion in West Zilveren Berg, but a historic moment and a milestone. I know that these phrases are getting thrown around frequently, but that’s just how it is. That’s because our nation is going through a revolutionary period made up of historical moments and milestones that future generations will be looking back at. That is because after being born, our nation is now learning to walk and will keep growing as a living organism, we will keep covering new ground, we will keeping making new achievements.

Last week we adopted our own currency. Today, we inaugurate our own national armed forces. Although armed, equipped and trained by the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, our friend and ally respect the choice of the West Zilveren people to be a neutral country. These armed forces will be solely for the defense of our national borders and for defense solely on our land. No overseas combat ever. The most and I emphasize, the most, that our armed forces could do abroad is help out in peacekeeping or disaster relief if that request is made of us. The only exception from that principle is that we have a Security Treaty with our friend Sunrisia by which they provide is with military protection, while we are obligated to assist them in exclusively non-combat military activities. But that is it.

West Zilveren Berg is a neutral and non-bloc country and from today I welcome our troops currently in service and troops to enlist in the future, as they will swear allegiance to our nation in a commitment to strictly focus on the defense of our sovereignty. Today we hold this parade in your honor, but we hope that this will be the first and final military parade in West Zilveren history. Normal and democratic countries don’t hold military parades to flex military muscle before others and earn “respect” that way. West Zilveren Berg is aspiring to be a normal, democratic and civilized country. Military parades might have been characteristic to Rhul Gorm’s Dictatorship of Zilveren Berg, but not to Democratic West Zilveren Berg.

WZSDF is an all-professional and volunteer-based military. By current law, gender-neutral registration with WZSDF could be implemented for possible obligatory service. Several opposition parties, many ideologically conservative, insist on full conscription to increase the number of troops and the personnel reserve. Other parties, ideologically centrist, have proposed the format used in other countries, where the draft was only enacted, when the military or the Defense Ministry, Defense Department in West Zilveren case, would conclude that the number falls short of goal at that time.

Night-Claw 2 Teaser Trailer Released: Could The Virus Push Back The Intended Release?

Image

A teaser trailer for Night-Claw 2, an anticipated sequel to the superhero blockbuster Night-Claw, has finally been released. The teaser gave a brief glance at the upcoming move with a rendition of Cérpīta Sróvâ (Blast Wave) featured in the background as soundtrack. However, along with the teaser also comes the question – will the release be affected by the current RETRIT-20/PVAX-20 novel illness epidemic. At the moment, the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia is safe from the virus and the government intends to take precautions to keep it out of the country. Obviously it is too early to tell, but if Sunrisia manages to keep the illness out, then Night-Claw 2 should again break the domestic box-office like the first installment did. Chances are it will do well in overseas releases in the countries of the southwestern hemisphere, if the illness does not come over here. Nevertheless, if the movie is released beyond our part of the world, then there is a question mark regarding its’ performance overseas, without even mentioning parts of the world already confirmed to have the virus epidemic there.

In case the situation remains under control in Sunrisia, Reflexa Pictures intends the release date for Night-Claw 2 to remain as previously planned. The same would go for the release to the countries in the region. Meanwhile, a different release date, at a later time, could be decided on for parts of the world currently affected and possibly to be affected by the virus further. Nevertheless, if the situation worsens in the rest of the world, including in the southwestern hemisphere and even in Sunrisia, the studios is not ruling out a home release, in order to abide by public safety rules in case of quarantine-like measures and for their big-budget project not to go to waste or be shelved for a long time. At the same time, a guaranteed home release alongside a more limited theatre release in case of an extraordinary public health situation, could guarantee access to Night-Claw 2 for viewers everywhere, instead of having to wait for different release dates, earlier for some and later for others.

At the current moment, Reflexa Pictures does not intend to push back the domestic release for Night-Claw 2, unless, as mentioned before, the situation changes. Reflexa Pictures has actually come under attack by people, who view the studio’s evaluation of the virus risk from the point of view of how their movies will perform, instead of prioritizing the well-being of the people as being above everything in this crisis. Culturally, that kind of greediness is condemned in Sunrisia, so the negative social resonance towards the statements of Reflexa Pictures is not surprising, no matter how careful the studio has tried to be.

The Era of King Malcolm VI Begins

Image

Royal Palace, Cardo -- In front of a crowd of reporters in the Royal Media Garden, then-Prince Lucas, Duke of Cherry-Upon-The-Hill, announced his father's abdication. King John XVI has been suffering from rapidly declining health and with a pending health crisis, he has given the throne to his heir. Beginning his reign in 1965, King John XVI ruled with a kind hand and soft fist. Under his reign, Cardo has advanced culturally, economically and militarily. King John kept his nose clean of political drama, and sources from inside the palace have fears our new King, coronated as Malcolm VI in a secret ceremony, will not do the same.

"He's a f-cking charlatan," a senior official in the Conservative Coalition stated, "As things become politically volatile, I can only see our new 'King' making the situation worse."

The criticism is earned, though. Earlier this year, the Crown Prince publicly opposed the Prime Minister on a key budget measure which broadly cut public health programs. The Prince used words such as "reckless" and "incredibly insensitive" to describe the legislation's passage. The Prime Minister remained silent, but with the Prince's new position as Head of State, Prime Minister Burch may be handicapped into responding.

Addressing the nation, the new King said, "This time will not be used to push political talking points nor misinformation. Our government and our nation will remained united in fighting off this virus. We will encourage compassion, understanding and increased self-awareness."

Currently, the virus is contained to the border with only 20 cases, yet projections project coastal towns may be in store for a sharp increased in cases. The Royal Council are due to meet tonight.

JUGAC, OTHER CITIES, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – The long anticipated day is finally here. South Baggnagians are finally heading to the polls to vote in the long awaited and historic Double-Referendum. We are basically witnessing history here in the making. This vote will determine the future not only of South Baggnagia but also of North Baggnagia. This vote will determine the future of the divided Baggnagian nation because it’s an inter-Baggnagian Double-Referendum. Just like voters in South Baggnagia are going to vote in the Double-Referendum down here so are North Baggnagians going to vote in that same Double-Referendum up in North Baggnagia. The divided Baggnagian is voting together to determine their separate futures or maybe even a single future. A lot of North Baggnagians that had migrated to the more developed South Baggnagia have traveled back to North Baggnagia to vote in the referendum on their nation’s territory.

In the Double-Referendum (organized by the Joint Democratic Referendum Commission) North and South Baggnagians are voting on two questions. This has been talked about many times before and will once again be mentioned today. Question one: Support or rejection of the Baggnagian Unification Treaty (reached by the Baggnagian Reunification Commission). Question two: Support or rejection of the draft of the single Baggnagian constitution (drafted by the Constituent Assembly of Baggnagia). The second question will directly depend on the outcome of the vote on the first question. A “yes” vote on question one will make question two relevant while the “no” vote on question one will render question two null and void because it concerns a constitution for a unified Baggnagian state. So the relation here is obvious.

The inter-Baggnagian Double Referendum is happening under unusual conditions. North and South Baggnagia have their land, air and sea borders closed with all other nations except for each other. There have also been special “sterile” conditions imposed in all polling stations and other areas that will host the voting and expect masses of people. Those voting points have been disinfected while voting citizens have been instructed and will be instructed on location of the safe protective behavior against the Novel Illness virus of RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20.

Prepped against Novel Illness virus, North Baggnagians head to the polls in the anticipated inter-Baggnagian Double-Referendum

SILCENDA, OTHER CITIES, NORTH BAGGNAGIA – Under lockdown from the rest of the world except for fellow Baggnagians in the South the people of North Baggnagia are enthusiastically heading to vote in the inter-Baggnagian Double Referendum. This vote was organized by the Joint Democratic Referendum Commission made up of North and South Baggnagians as an intergovernmental body of the two nations. With the virus epidemic it’s definitely a serious time. But because of the importance and historic significance of the long awaited vote the North Baggnagians are heading to the polls with smiles and hope in their faces. Many North Baggnagians had to travel back from the more developed South Baggnagia where they emigrated after the Baggnagian War ended and peace was established. North and South Baggnagia did not have time to create proper diplomatic relations after the war but inter-leadership and inter-people dialogue has obviously been there since. Some consulates or other diplomatic bases were quickly set up in North and South Baggnagia. So there is a chance that some North Baggnagians that didn’t make it back will be able to vote in those diplomatic checkpoints of the North in South Baggnagia. Same rules for South Baggnagian citizens in North Baggnagia apply.

The Double Referendum will ask North Baggnagians (and South Baggnagians voting in their nation at the same time) two questions. The first one will be if they approve of the Baggnagian Unification Treaty reached by the Baggnagian Reunification Commission (another intergovernmental body between North and South Baggnagia and made up of North and South Baggnagians). The second one will ask voters if they approve of the constitution for a hypothetical Baggnagian unified state. This question will have any relevancy at all depending on the outcome of the first question on unification.

The voting is happening under safe conditions from the Novel Illness virus. Local North Baggnagian forces and institutions with the help of occupying South Baggnagian and Sunrisian forces and their other personnel have organized a disinfection of all points and stations where the voting all over North Baggnagia will happen. North Baggnagian citizens and South Baggnagian citizens (who might be voting at their consulates and diplomatic missions in North Baggnagia) have been instructed on safe measures against the virus before the voting day. Just in case they will also be instructed on the same protective measures on voting location. They will be provided protective material like masks, gloves, eye protection and hand sanitizers in voting locations around North Baggnagia.

No breakthroughs for Daredland at the MDAA summit, does it mean anything?

Image

Daredi Confederation has walked away from the last MDAA summit in Sunrisian capital Orentan without much breakthrough. Honestly the harsh reality is that Daredland pretty much walked away and returned with nothing. The only thing that Daredland got was another support for its territorial integrity within Daredland’s legal borders. That means that MDAA members promise that they will not recognize the occupation of Daredi land by the self-declared Weniges Reich and the Hasperan Republic. They will not recognize those entities as existing or independent. Daredland also received a promise to get continued support of any kind it needed. Daredi diplomats say that each such statement is of importance and should never be underestimated. But for Daredi citizens they have heard it again and again. It seems like progress in the MDAA direction has only been made under the previous government. The current government has seemingly not moved Daredland beyond a dead end at all. It only reaps benefits from the associate membership that Daredland has in MDAA and SOWEFTA but that was achieved by the previous government and not this one. The only new thing heard under the current government’s tenure was the alternative formula for the nation’s accession to MDAA. It was accession only of Freihat-controlled territory while occupied territories would be left out until they are returned. Daredland considered and accepted that deal. It was expected that the Confederation would receive an awaited invitation to join MDAA with this new offer. But that didn’t happen. Rather than blame MDAA Daredi citizens are blaming the government as having underachieved or underperformed somewhere. This is shown by a plummeted approval rating of the Daredi government which fell immediately after the MDAA summit in Sunrisia.

Confederal Minister of MDAA Accession of the Daredi Confederation Nicole Dressler is speaking before the National Council and the Council of States today. She is giving her account before the United Confederal Assembly. The Confederal Minister will also be expected to give the same sort of account at the Confederal Cabinet meeting where President of the Daredi Confederation Hans Receni will be present. Dressler, the Confederal Ministry of MDAA Accession, the Confederal Ministry of Defense and Protection and the Confederal Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Daredi Confederation are coming under attack for failed diplomacy and failed MDAA integration policy. Criticisms are coming from other government officials and opposition politicians who are attacking these Confederal Ministries and the entire LPM-led government. Confederal Minister of Reintegration and Reconciliation of the Daredi Confederation Franz Potesinan, Confederal Minister of Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced People of the Daredi Confederation Andrea Färber, First Vice President of the Council of States of the Daredi Confederation Eelco Lechner and Second Vice President of the National Council of the Daredi Confederation Felix Gudatan have all called out these Confederal Ministries and the LPM-led government. They called it ‘ineffective.’ All these critical officials happened to be members of the strongly nationalist and sometimes called ‘anti-Englean’ WCND party which was one of the leading parties in the previous Daredi government. That same government that achieved associate membership for Daredland in MDAA and SOWEFTA but couldn’t finish its term because of corruption allegations.

Opposition Klare Sicht (Clear View) Alliance made up of Party for Central Approach (PCA) and Social Liberal Party (SLP) went further. Not only did they call for the dismissal of all the ‘failing’ Confederal Ministers but they called for a dissolution of government and new snap elections in Daredland. It wouldn’t be surprising that the Klare Sicht (Clear View) Alliance would be interested in that because their political alliance has been steadily growing in the approval rating. This success is often attributed to their strategic populism.

Confederal Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Daredi Confederation Zina Fenstermacher did not get overwhelmed by the wave of criticism that came in her direction too. She repeated what other diplomats were saying about the importance of firm support from MDAA to Daredland and how that’s not changing and shouldn’t be underestimated. She said that even if Daredland was not invited to join yet the Confederation is still an associate member which gives it defense privileges above a regular partner of the bloc. Fenstermacher said MDAA members don’t want to take the risk of being dragged into an unresolved conflict that might spark up in Hasperan and Weniges territories by accepting the Freihat-controlled Daredi territory into the alliance.

Vesvai’s Governor-General Andrew Gaileta And Vesvai’s Now-First Minister Jonathan Mollisal Denounce MDAA’s Expansion Into New Vesvai

Vesvai’s government is furious over what happened in Orentan, Sunrisia several days ago. New Vesvai has signed an association with the MDAA bloc further continuing the incorporation of New Vesvai into that structure. It has caused uproar among officials in Vesvai’s part of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai. Many of them have expressed individual opinions with varying words and various levels of political correctness or radicalism. But the overarching message has mostly been the same.

Vesvai’s Governor-General Andrew Gaileta was and is among the angriest. He offered a radical and unambiguous rant in reaction to New Vesvai’s association with MDAA:

“[T]his isn’t right. We are just sitting here and doing nothing. I say it completely seriously that if the Oblaren–Vesvai Union doesn’t, then Vesvai individually must take this seriously. We must treat this as an attack, an invasion, an occupation and annexation. We must treat the creeping incorporation of New Vesvai into MDAA like our ancestors reacted whenever Vesvai’s land came under attack by foreign invaders, colonists and conquerors. We must mobilize and take Perloveu by force if necessary. I would be up for developing our own nuclear bomb or buying nuclear bombs from others. I would be ready to launch it into every MDAA capital if they were to try to stop us from retaking Perloveu. I would be ready to destroy them all from continuing to expand towards our borders and threatening us.”

Jonathan Mollisal whose title has now been changed to Vesvai’s First Minister instead of Prime Minister after the merger with Oblaren, offered a different statement. He did not call for violence or any sort of direct action. Mollisal instead offered to look at the large scope and scale of things. He offered to look at the bigger picture and the entire conspiracy that will explain what’s happening.

“[I]t’s clear that Sunrisia is using the technology and formula of these “thematic” revolutions. They use them to overthrow governments and install pro-Sunrisian puppet governments. It happened in Daredland with the so-called “Flaming Revolution” and then it happened in New Vesvai with the so-called “Silver Revolution.” Why do you think back in the days of independent Dominion of Vesvai our government was installing all these strict anti-protest, counter-unrest laws and resist large gatherings of people for political reasons without a permit. Because we didn’t want our citizens to be used as pawns in somebody’s else’s plan. You can talk about the so-called “human rights violations” all day but we are patriots. And we were saving our nation every day no matter the hate we got. I hope that together with Oblarenites we will be able to resist the “thematic” revolution formula from ever being used in our Union.

But it’s not just the revolutions. It’s also the MDAA expansion in general. It’s getting closer to our borders and also the borders of other nations in the region. The Englean officials brought that up too not too long ago and they were right. We must work out a plan to resist the threat that MDAA brings to us.”

First Minister Jonathan Mollisal said that Vesvai’s and Oblaren’s still-separate leaderships would have to come to a consensus on whether the Union would accept the aid package from the United Queendoms of Belantica.

North and South Baggnagians say ‘Yes’ to Unification Treaty and the United Baggnagia Constitution

Image

Image Image

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA; SILCENDA, NORTH BAGGNAGIA – History has been made! It’s a moment we’ve all been waiting for! Baggnagia will be one nation again! 94.2% in North and South Baggnagia combined have said “yes” to the Baggnagian Unification Treaty. Collectively there have been only 5.8% of skeptics among North and South Baggnagian voters who have said “no” for their own reasons. In the meantime the reunified Baggnagian state will also not have to wait for a constitution to be adopted either. The majority of North and South Baggnagian voters have also said “yes” to the draft of the constitution. 57.88% of North and South Baggnagian voters combined have said “yes” to the draft of the constitution and 42.12% of voters have said “no.” Clearly the constitution part has been much more divisive among the two questions when compared to the craving to be one nation again. No matter the divisiveness of the question on the constitution the majority still said “yes.” That means that both questions of the referendum have passed and the overall inter-Baggnagian Double-Referendum has been a success. Congratulations to the Baggnagian Reunification Commission and the Joint Democratic Referendum Commission for their work. Congratulations to the military governments of North and South Baggnagia for their leadership and also organizational work at this moment. And of course last but not least congratulations to the North and South Baggnagia people who now are safe to say are once again one Baggnagian people.

Now that the referendum has passed in its entirety there are two final steps that will need to be taken for North and South Baggnagia to reunify and for the single Baggnagian statehood to be created. North and South Baggnagian members of the Baggnagian Reunification Commission and North and South Baggnagian leaderships will have to sign the Baggnagian Unification Treaty. Afterwards legislative bodies of North and South Baggnagia (Military Council in the case of South Baggnagia) will have to ratify the Unification Treaty and adopt the new constitution. Only then will Baggnagia be one nation again de jure. But people today feel like we’re already a one nation again de facto.

Do you agree with the terms and conditions of the Baggnagian Unification Treaty between North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia reached by the Baggnagian Reunification Commission, and accept it as an agreement by which North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia would reunify into a single nation?

Inter-Baggnagian Double-Referendum passes in its entirety, voters accept reunification and a new united constitution

Image

SILCENDA, NORTH BAGGNAGIA; JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – Celebration can be felt and heard across the border. The North and South Baggnagian border. The border that has been dividing a single nation from quite some time and will soon be removed. Because North and South Baggnagian people or more correctly one Baggnagian nation have said they don’t want to be divided anymore by artificial lines. The inter-Baggnagian Double Referendum in North and South Baggnagia has happened. The votes have been counted. North and South Baggnagians have been counted jointly. Together North and South Baggnagian voters in an overwhelming majority said that Baggnagia should be one again. A tremendous 94.2% of voters have firmly made that historic decision. Only 5.8% of voters have said they prefer to keep the status quo and live apart in North and South Baggnagia. But the position of an overwhelming majority is clear. Baggnagia should be and will be one again.

North and South Baggnagian voters have been less unanimous on the second question of the referendum concerning the constitution. 57.88% of voters have approved of the proposed draft of the constitution while 42.12%. This was closer to a split right down the middle. But the final outcome here is clear too. More than half close to 60% of voters still approved of the constitution. This means that not only will North and South Baggnagia will be able to reunify soon but they will not have to scramble for a new constitution for the unified Baggnagian state. The referendum has passed in its entirety. Now what comes next to make the results of these votes come to a practical realization? North and South Baggnagian members of the Baggnagian Reunification Commission and North and South Baggnagian leaderships will have to sign the Baggnagian Unification Treaty. Afterwards the military governments of North and South Baggnagia will have to vote to ratify the Unification Treaty and the constitution approved by voters at the referendum. That is when Baggnagia will be one again.

Do you agree with the terms and conditions of the Baggnagian Unification Treaty between North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia reached by the Baggnagian Reunification Commission, and accept it as an agreement by which North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia would reunify into a single nation?

Oblaren’s And Vesvai’s Still-Separate Leaderships To Soon Begin Talks On Forming A Joint Union Government

Union of Oblaren and Vesvai is getting ready to finalize the internal integration of the new state. The still-separate leaderships of Oblaren and Vesvai will be gathering either in Fortwel or Aurisi for that key meeting on finalizing the formation of a single Union government and a constitutional merger. Vesvai’s First Minister Jonathan Mollisal shared some details but stretched that nothing is official or has been decided yet. Debates are still going on and the sides are thinking about it.

“[V]esvai’s leadership’s proposals on the Union government are like this. We thought that since Mr. Nathaniel Harrisbur was the President of independent Oblaren then why not make him the President of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai? Meanwhile I was the Prime Minister of independent Vesvai. So our VHU party just thought why not nominate me for the position of the Prime Minister of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai? It’s all so comfortable and so perfectly aligned that it felt like it was almost meant to be.

Concerning other nominations Vesvai’s leadership has proposed only two Ministers whose titles are now Cabinet Ministers like mine is of First Minister. Those two Ministers were very important for independent Vesvai so we just wanted to keep them around and bring them in as experts of their field into the Union’s government. First nominated Minister is: Robert Praesedit. He was a wonderful Minister of National Defense and Security of independent Dominion of Vesvai. Currently he’s a Cabinet Minister of National Defense and Security of Vesvai’s part of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai. We have nominated him and offered him to our Oblarenite compatriots as the Defense Minister of the entire Union in the joint government. Another position that we have offered for him was Chairman of the Security Council of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai. He would be absolutely wonderful in that position too.

Our other nominee is Nicholas Vicina. He was Minister of Foreign Affairs of independent Vesvai and presently is Cabinet Minister of Foreign and Inter-Union Affairs of Vesvai’s part of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai. Again an absolute professional, wonderful Minister, skilled diplomat. He was a vital figure in negotiating the Union Treaty which created this new single nation of Oblaren and Vesvai that we live in now. In a way he’s one of our Founding Fathers. So we nominated and offered for him to be the Foreign Minister of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai within the new joint government. After we put forward the candidacies of Praesedit and Vicina we told our partners on the up-north fraternal island that all the other Ministers in the Union government can be from Oblaren and we would approve of everybody immediately as long as Robert Praesedit and Nicholas Vicina are in. We would find where to put all the other officials we had in the cabinet of independent Vesvai.

Other important questions concern the constitution and the parliament. If we were to merge the constitution and have Mr. Nathaniel Harrisbur be President and myself be Prime Minister then we would propose a semi-presidential system. A perfectly balanced system where neither the President nor the Parliament has too much power over the other. We would even hold each other accountable and balance each other out. Obviously the question for many Vesvaians is this. Clearly by this system the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai would be a republic. Independent Vesvai was not a republic but a Dominion or a constitutional monarchy at best. Well our proposals don’t contradict any of this. Governor-General Andrew Gaileta can still remain the Governor-General only of Vesvai’s island and Queen Diana Wolff remain the monarch only of Vesvai’s island. We will also have to decide on foreign policy. Fortunately before the merger Oblaren and Vesvai as independent nations were both ROVAA members. But only Vesvai was a Rhodeve Commonwealth member while Oblaren was not. So the Union by default remains a ROVAA member but what will happen with the Commonwealth membership we’ll discuss that. Even the Union's ROVAA membership could be discussed. No need to debate in one or another direction or to speculate anything. Of course we’ll also eventually have to decide on the Union’s capital, currency and there’s a lot of work ahead of us. But we’ll do it all because we’ve been moving towards it for a long time.”

Convet Lifts Some “Outdated” Sanctions: Decision Made Not To Impose Counter-Sanctions On Belantica Because Of RETRIT-20/PVAX-20 Novel Illness There

Convet of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia has voted to lift some of the “outdated” sanctions imposed against a number of countries. The sanctions that would be lifted by this vote, include – a full embargo on Hasnak, individual sanctions against the military leadership of NVRSKSO in Azovskaya and those associated with it, as well as individual sanctions against the extremist leadership in Dirkhizistan and those associated with it. Before the vote, the Convet made sure to consult with the administration of President Addél Dîlectên, new Department of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, new Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, new Department of Finance and Economic Development of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, and even the new Department of Security of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. New Ministers heading these Departments, who were nominated by President Addél Dîlectên and approved by the Convet, were even invited to the parliament.

The vote at the Convet on lifting these sanctions was far from unanimous, but the majority of those voting in favor of lifting the sanctions only won by a tiny margin. Not even the governing coalition had a consensus on the sanctions, as some parties voted in favor and some against. Some lawmakers, including from the governing coalition, other parties and opposition parties, even called it “treasonous” that the Dîlectên administration would recommend lifting these sanctions to the Convet. Obviously, even with the parliamentary vote having passed, the lifting of sanctions will happen after President Addél Dîlectên signs the Convet-approved legislation, which authorizes the lifting of sanctions, into law.

Convet Speaker Flórên Infána, whose own Civic Nationalist Sovereignty Bloc party ultimately ended up voting in favor of the legislation but was also internally torn up and divided before making that final decision, stated:

Even if we lift these sanctions, it does not mean that Sunrisia opens itself up to contact with these countries. We are still “estranged” with them, if you will.

The second decision made at the Convet, although also controversial, but ultimately ending up being less devise and more supported by lawmakers in the end over humane reasons, was the decision for Sunrisia not to retaliate against Belantica over the sanctions, or more specifically the “70% tariff on almost all goods being imported from Sunrisia” according to “Belantica Today” new agency there, imposed by the Parliament of that country. The Belantic 70% tariff has been imposed over the recent Sunrisian airstrikes and cruise missile strikes against Vesvai, the Commonwealth ally of Belantica. Their country has also promised “aid packages” to the self-proclaimed Weniges Reich entity, which occupies a large part of Daredland’s eastern Wenigberg region, as well as to the Oblaren and Vesvai Union.

The motivation behind not retaliating by Sunrisia, is Belantica’s current struggle against the RETRIT-20/PVAX-20 Novel Illness. There are currently 17 confirmed cases of the virus in that country that were reported on March 30 and no new updates had been given since. Like the previous decision on lifting sanctions against a number of countries, the Convet consulted with the administration of President Addél Dîlectên, new Department of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, new Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, new Department of Finance and Economic Development of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, and even the new Department of Security of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. In fact, Emissary for Adversary Exchanges (EAE) of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Cálêr Ustrīnâ was invited to the Convet to speak before the lawmakers and give his advice, before the final parliamentary decision is made.

Convet Speaker Flórên Infána then stated the following:

The people of Belantica are currently fighting this new, deadly and horrible RETRIT-20/PVAX-20 Novel Illness. There are currently 17 known cases there. It would be inappropriate to retaliate against their country with counter-sanctions, because they need less pressure and access to all resources possible, in order to cure their infected citizens, contain the spread of the disease in Belantica and eradicate the virus from their territory. Since we got a consensus between the Convet and the administration of the President, that means it is the course we are going to currently take.

As for the Belantic leadership, the individual sanctions remain in place and in full effect. Honestly, there is no higher level left to extend them to. They are barred from entering Sunrisia, doing any business here, using our banking system, buying property, pretty much doing anything here. Sunrisia is inaccessible to them on any level and their diplomatic immunity as politicians is null and void here. That includes Queen Karen, her family, the Parliament and their friends and family, all other branches of the government of Belantica and pretty much everybody associated with them.

However, a decision to send an “aid package” to the self-proclaimed Weniges Reich in eastern Daredland, is placing Belantica on the verge of being recognized as a state sponsor of terrorism by Sunrisia, in a similar way how Daredland has put the country in that category. Nothing says that the “aid package” does not include military aid to the Weniges militants.

Select Members of the Convet have opposed the decision not to retaliate against Belantica, also labeling the Dîlectên administration’s recommendation to the Convet not to retaliate, as “treasonous.” Meanwhile, the topic of Belantica has sparked a passive aggressive exchange between 2 lawmakers in a middle of a Convet session.

Convet Member 1:Madam Speaker, colleagues. Can we just take a moment to acknowledge the fact that this is probably the most attention that Belantica has gotten from us? As in, like, ever? *Snickers*

I mean, I don’t want to question the geographical knowledge of our citizens, but how many Sunrisians do you think can actually even point out Belantica on the map? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Convet Member 2:Colleague, even though I can’t really argue against the individual facts that you are saying, I think that the tone and the timing are poorly-chosen. Because you are basically kicking somebody, while they are down. In this case, a nation of people.

Convet Member 1:Point taken, colleague. Just a question of curiosity, have you ever been to the place that we are discussing here?

Convet Member 2:Does it matter, sir? What does that even have to do with anything?

Convet Member 1:Just innocent curiosity. Making conversation here, if you would like me to phrase it that way.

Convet Member 2:I have not and don’t have a reason to. However, that does not change the point I have made earlier.

Convet Member 1:Understood. I will accept your criticism.

Convet Speaker Flórên Infána:: “Members of the Convet, please. Could we get back to what we are supposed to be doing here? You can chat personally about this over coffee or tea later. Okay? Thank you.

Nevertheless, lawmakers from the Iron Dome Party said they will be preparing a future legislation to limit Sunrisian export to and investment in Belantica, as well as import from Belantica or doing any business in our country, to a minimum. The party does not exclude drafting another future legislation for full future counter-sanctions on Belantica, including completely ending bilateral trade and closing off from Belantica. At the moment, Belantica is already a very insignificant trade partner to Sunrisia and any existing relations are very tenuous, basically “holding on by a thread.”

NEW VESVAI BROADCASTING

New Vesvai Hosts Council Of 3 Meeting In Capital Perloveu

New Vesvai is hosting its first meeting of the Council of 3. Officials from all three members of the Council are in attendance: New Vesvai, Daredland and West Zilveren Berg. New Vesvai’s Prime Minister Adi Letago is presiding over the meeting as the head of government of the hosting nation. Perloveu Municipality Building has been given as a place of the meeting. This is going outside of the standard protocol because all previous Council of 3 meetings had happened in the Council’s headquarters in Daredland. Secretary General Joan Armbrüster is attending the meeting but New Vesvai’s PM is still presiding over it and not the Secretary General. That is also outside the protocol. New Vesvai’s leadership in this meeting is explained by the nation’s initiation of this specific meeting which the Prime Minister mentioned at the MDAA summit in Sunrisia.

In his opening statement PM Adi Letago said he hopes that there would be more meetings of the Council of 3 in the future if the virus does not catch up to the three member nations and widely in the shared hemisphere in general. The epidemic would of course force group meetings and summits to be cancelled. Holding them with medical masks and gloves would not be a productive option. The only alternative would be a video conference but that would mean that no documents could be signed at the virtual conference. PM Letago said he would ask Daredi officials for advice in how their nation achieved SOWEFTA associate membership because that’s something New Vesvai is looking to do. New Vesvai’s present government seeks either a free trade agreement or an association with SOWEFTA at the current period. The Prime Minister hopes that deal could also happen before the virus disrupts public gatherings on future summits. PM Letago also took the time congratulate West Zilveren colleagues on finally launching their national military: West Zilveren Self-Defense Forces (WZSDF) into service.

Internet Still Down In Vesvai’s Part Of The Union Of Oblaren And Vesvai

Vesvai’s part of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai is still without internet. The shut-down has happened coincidentally on the second day after the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai was establish. Although Vesvai’s government says that there have been problem with internet connection on the Dominion’s part of the island days prior to the merger. Internet users have been complaining to their providers and provider companies in turn complain to local authorities and it caught the attention of Vesvai’s government. At the time this was being investigated as a possible foreign cyber-attack. Most likely by New Vesvai or Sunrisia. Wouldn’t be the first time either of those two attacked Vesvai’s internet. Vesvai’s Cabinet Minister of National Defense and Security Robert Praesedit, the military and the intelligence agencies are not dumping that theory just yet.

Since the internet outage began there has been the increase of presence of police, including riort police, and the National Guard on the streets of Aurisi and Vesvai’s other major cities. This was done to prevent unrest of the public over the anger caused by absence of the internet. Vesvai’s First Minister Jonathan Mollisal said that the problem is being looked at and all precautions will be taken to fix it. But until that happens he called upon Vesvaians to adapt to the current situation and remember life before internet and how people were somehow able to live without it for a long time.

PID Director Fórî Apstérâ Still A Divisive Figure

Fórî Apstérâ, the current Director of the Prime Intelligence Division (PID), the leading intelligence agency in the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, and de facto former acting President, remains a divisive figure in the country. On one hand, he took over the country’s presidency during a critical time, outside of legitimate means, thus becoming simultaneously the President and PID Director at the same time. Under his presidency, Sunrisia took and defeated an insurgency by 2 domestic militant terrorist groups at the same time – the New Sunrisian Republican Army (NSRA) and the Sunrisian Theocrat and Monarchist Corps (STMC). He took on the double pressure and the Sunrisian interim government led by Apstérâ presidency, managed to defeat 2 militants fighting the state simultaneously, during domestic instability and a political crisis. After the militant defeat during a brief armed conflict waged against them by Sunrisian Military and volunteer helpers out of the Sunrisian population, the interim administration led by President and PID Director Fórî Apstérâ took the country through a transitional post-crisis period. On foreign policy, under the Apstérâ presidency, the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia and the Englean Kaiserreich openly faced off for the first time, as both countries’ navies engaged in a brief skirmish around Corentia. It happened at the same time as Sunrisian forces were still hunting for NSRA and STMC inside Sunrisia. Another major foreign policy success for the Apstérâ administration, was victory in the Baggnagian War, the fruitful results of which are observing today, as ally South Baggnagia was reinforce and protected, the North Baggnagian regime fell and both countries are today moving towards reunification. Again on the internal front, the Apstérâ-head leadership helped organize new legislative and presidential elections, and handed power over peacefully to a new Sunrisian government. Meanwhile, PID, other Sunrisian intelligence services and the military returned to their constitutional functions, supposedly no longer playing any role in politics.

On the other hand, the aforementioned crisis in Sunrisia began because of the so-called “shadow government scandal.” It turned out that former Vice President Fógâr Nélsân was actually not a Vice President, but a “shadow President”, who controlled the presidency and the administration from behind the curtain or from the side. Vice President Fógâr Nélsân was also revealed to be an intelligence operative the entire time, working for Sunrisian PID. Deceased Dêc Grétân, who was supposedly “President” at the time and has been revealed to be a terrorist by the end of his life, was only a puppet controlled by Vice President Fógâr Nélsân from behind the scenes. Nélsân was unaware of Grétân’s membership in the NSRA militant group and association/conspiracy with STMC as the middle-man between 2 ideologically-differing rival militant groups, which simultaneously fought each other and the Sunrisian state – the Nationalist Republic. PID also had influence not only over the presidency, but also the Convet (parliament) and the Superior Court (constitutional court). When PID deemed it safe, for some reason, to expose this information to the public, Sunrisian obviously took to the streets. That is how the “shadow government scandal began” and the follow-up political crisis as well, which then gave the NSRA and STMC militant groups and opening to wage their insurgency and the Sunrisian intelligence services and the military, rather than stepping back, taking control out in the open this time. Legitimate President Válîd Sâlúbĕr, who was not a fake puppet and decorative/de facto ceremonial head of state like Dêc Grétân, was the first casualty of the political crisis. He had lost a confidence vote at the Convet, which forced him to resign. Vice President Amíc Fútûra took over as President for 3 days, before he was convinced to sign the presidency over to PID Director Fórî Apstérâ, who has now become the leading person in the country. As President, Apstérâ proceeded to sack the cabinet and replace all Ministers and the entire administration with his own people, a lot of whom were openly intelligence operatives as well and are to this day. He also had the new (at the time) Minister of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Nívâl Rêtráctăs replace all Special Envoys with new ones, some of whom or all could also have been or be intelligence operatives. President and PID Director Fórî Apstérâ dissolved the Convet, basically eliminating the legislative branch of the Sunrisian government. He had also made sure to “put a leash” on the constitutional court. It seemed like Sunrisia transformed from a nationalist democracy into a nationalist dictatorship overnight, but the Apstérâ administration promised it was temporary. There was no longer a point to argue that the previous government or governments acted outside of the previous constitution or the current constitution from August 22, because the constitution was pretty much de facto, but not de jure suspended at this point. While fighting militants, foreign enemies and taking the country through a post-crisis period, President and PID Director Fórî Apstérâ unconstitutionally made domestic and foreign policy decisions by signing decrees, because there was no longer a parliament or a constitutional court to counter-balance his power. Additionally, under the Apstérâ presidency, Sunrisian intelligence services and the military had killed many former presidents, vice presidents and other politicians from Sunrisia’s past, who were confirmed to be members or associated with either the NSRA or the STMC militant groups or both. They were killed without trial, but a confession was gotten out of them prior to their death. These were allegedly political killings, apart from just anti-terrorist purges. Before Apstérâ and his temporary intelligence-military stratocracy left power, the newly-elected and formed Convet of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, today’s parliament, has allowed to give the previous Superior Court amnesty to the Apstérâ leadership and the Sunrisian government before that, with past Sâlúbĕr administration and past Convet, before the outgoing Superior Court was replaced with a new one.

Today, the figure of PID Director Fórî Apstérâ has the Sunrisian populace split right down the middle. His supporters will point to his achievements and his critics will point to his unconstitutional actions prior to take power and when taking power. Fórî Apstérâ is still the Director of PID today. President Addél Dîlectên, who was elected unlike Apstérâ and operates within the constitution, has not replaced him with someone new. However, the President did make sure to remove the entire administration left over from Apstérâ’s time, and appoint his own. The only government officials from Apstérâ’s presidency that are still around, are the Special Envoys. President Dîlectên pledged to remove the influence of Sunrisian intelligence agencies and the military from the Sunrisian government in its’ entirety. However, because PID Director Fórî Apstérâ is still in his position, it has helped create conspiracy theories that the intelligence agencies still hold influence over the Sunrisian government. That conspiracy has been fueled by the aforementioned continued presence of Special Envoys from Apstérâ’s times, in the current government of Sunrisia. However, with a stronger Convet, a stronger Superior Court and a more determined administration of the President, there is hope that the Sunrisian government will truly be independent from intelligence agencies and the military for the first time in a long time.

Sylva Čérny leads the Pro-Democracy March in Jugac organized by the Socialist Bloc party

Image

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – Present leader of the Socialist Bloc party Sylva Čérny has organized and is leading a Pro-Democracy March in South Baggnagian capital Jugac. Alongside her marches her father Karel Čérny (founder and former leader of the Socialist Bloc). Behind them rallies a crowd of supporters who are all carrying pure red flags as symbols of socialism and the party’s ideals. But Sylva Čérny is leading the protest not just for the socialist ideals of her and her father’s party. She is leading a Pro-Democracy March which calls for the North and South Baggnagian leaderships to put in force the results of the recent referendum and declare democratic elections afterwards.

When I, my father and our party members returned from self-exile I promised you that we would continue where we had left off. Before we went into self-exile we led pro-democracy demonstrations against the Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia. We were calling for a return to democratic elections. That protest caught on and soon the entire nation rose up in a short span of time to join us in this peaceful manifest. It even looked like Congress was willing to listen to us. But soon a military government took over in South Baggnagia. Congress just handed power over to them without resisting even though they were in dialogue with us. And today that military government is still here: the Military Council of South Baggnagia. At the time we fled out of fear for our lives and our safety. If we were imprisoned or killed then we would not be able to continue what we were doing. We had to cut off our movement in the middle and continue it from abroad. Now we are back and we are continuing it. That same Military Council of South Baggnagia that we ran from scares us no more. We are ready to resist you right in your face.

But this time the situation is different. We had returned, participated in and witnessed a new reality. At the time before our exile we were calling for a return to democracy in South Baggnagia. But recently North and South Baggnagian people voted to reunify and adopt a constitution of a single Baggnagian state. So today we are addressing both North and South Baggnagian military dictatorships. We the people demand that you listen to the voters opinion and abide by the referendum’s result. Achieve Baggnagian Reunification and declare new elections. There will be no continued military rule in a united Baggnagia that we had vote for. There will be a provisional government and then an elected civilian government. We will continue to remind of our demands every day in the name of the people. We are also speaking on behalf of all Baggnagians. So let’s take our Pro-Democracy March outside Jugac and rise up all across North and South Baggnagia. We managed to raise a national uprising last time. Let’s do it again and make it even greater this time because this is a key moment.

Sylva Čérny, current leader of the Socialist Bloc (SB), daughter of the founder and former leader of the Socialist Bloc (SB) Karel Čérny.

Jugac Municipality said that the Pro-Democracy March led by the Socialist Bloc party has a right to be held. But the authorities also said that there should be an avoidance of mass gatherings of people because of the risk of the Novell Illness virus in South Baggnagia. Sylva Čérny rejected these warnings as intimidation and counter-protest propaganda by the authorities aimed at discouraging people from joining the Pro-Democracy March and to make the Pro-Democracy March itself disperse. Čérny reminded that when she and her father Karel Čérny landed at the Jugac airport they were tested for virus and they were healthy. She also said that there was no virus risk declared in South Baggnagia otherwise the mass voting in the referendum would have been cancelled too.

Opposition Klare Sicht (Clear View) Alliance reportedly trying to rally other parties against the LPM-led Daredi government

Image

Opposition Klare Sicht (Clear View) Alliance made up of the Party for Central Approach (PCA) and the Social Liberal Party (SLP) is apparently pushing for another change in government. Klare Sicht has been rallying all parties in the Daredi government and opposition (basically anyone outside of the governing LPM coalition) to join them in calling for a snap election. PCA and SLP say that the government’s list of mistakes and failures has grown too greatly in comparison to achievements. That’s why it can’t stay. The opposition alliance went as far as to say that the current government is ‘worthless.’ By comparison they believe that at least the previous PLFWCD-led government achieved something for Daredland. LPM-led government achieved nothing domestically and in foreign policy. Daredland hasn’t moved from a dead end. They had referenced the fiasco at the MDAA summit as the last drop. Even if it would be another hypothetical snap election the alliance says that Daredland should go for it.

Reportedly PCA and SLP members approached Confederal Minister of Reintegration and Reconciliation of the Daredi Confederation Franz Potesinan and Confederal Minister of Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced People of the Daredi Confederation Andrea Färber. Both are WCND members. The Confederal Ministers were asked to resign from their posts in protest against the LPM-led government and joining the movement for a snap election. Confederal Minister Franz Potesinan later confirmed it was true and said he had turned them away. He said that the WCND party helped lead a national uprising against the previous regime in the Flaming Revolution. PCA and SLP were parts of that regime so Potesinan personally tries to keep contact with these parties to a minimum. SLP member Special Representative for Interactions with the Kaiserlich-Controlled State of Engleberg Niklas Böhler also tried to conspire with other members of the Confederal Cabinet but secretly from his boss Confederal Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Daredi Confederation Zina Fenstermacher.

At the higher level, at the upper house of the United Confederal Assembly, PCA member and Second Vice President of the Council of States of the Daredi Confederation Daci Bauer tried to conspire with First Vice President of the Council of States of the Daredi Confederation Eelco Lechner but in secret from President of the Council of States of the Daredi Confederation Aad Victore. Lechner reportedly told Bauer that he could be removed from the post if Victore found out.

But the determined Klare Sicht (Clear View) Alliance is inclusive and does not lose hope in its continued fight. Not having luck with other political forces PCA and SLP are reportedly receiving more support from the Germanic Union (GU) coalition which has been determined to kick both the previous and current government of Daredland out.

National Guard and Riot Police forced to defend the Silcenda incarceration facility where Marshal Jan Tillich is in from angry rioters

SILCENDA, NORTH BAGGNAGIA – In Silcenda North Baggnagian National Guard and Riot Police were forced to defend the incarceration facility which holds ousted North Baggnagian dictator Marshal Jan Tillich. A large group of armed rioters were marching towards the incarceration facility. They were armed with all kinds of weapons ready to break into the facility and fight whoever was in their way. They were also prepared to fight the authorities if they were to try and stop them. Disturbingly many of them had prepared Molotov cocktails with them. In case they were unable to swarm the prison or changed their mind the rioters would have thrown a lot of Molotov cocktails at the prison. They were ready to have anybody who would have been inside to burn alive if that included Marshal Jan Tillich among the casualties.

The National Guard and Riot Police stood ready outside the incarceration facility. They were aware of the plans of the violent rioters because the event was planned in advance. It was publicly promoted online and attracted participants from all over North and South Baggnagia. The larger part was from North Baggnagia statistically because Marshal Jan Tillich was more of their oppressor than of South Baggnagians. A violent clash erupted outside the incarceration facility. Some Molotov cocktails ended up hitting the officers but colleagues helped extinguish them and help them on time. Those who harmed the officers from the crowd were neutralized and detained. Some Molotov cocktails ended up hitting the prison after all by those rioters who were good at throwing. The police was forced to call firefighters to put them out.

The clash ended with a lot detainees while the rest fled before they could get caught. After the event the National Guard and Riot Police in the aftermath said they were disgusted by the fact they had to fight fellow Baggnagians from the North and from the South. In the meantime the true enemy of all Baggnagian people was in the prison. Officers felt like they were defending them instead of siding with their own. But the officers were also motivated to protect other incarcerated people who await trial. The separate trial of Marshal Jan Tillich and his regime will be coming soon.

Local Police Dealing With Decentralized Street Hooliganism In Different Parts Of Vesvai’s Part Of The Union Of Oblaren And Vesvai

Local police in different parts of Vesvai’s part of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai had to deal with decentralized acts of street hooliganism the whole day. Albeit decentralized and without clear leadership the conclusion was soon made that these were not isolated events. They acted coordinal and together could have amounted into larger unrest. Police in different parts of Vesvai had to coordinate among themselves and act within the anti-unrest law to disperse the disorder. For the most part police has been taking care of the problem all day but eventually the National Guard had to go into the certain more intense points to uphold public order.

This street hooliganism has been linked to the internet outage in Vesvai which has been in place for quite a while now. Internet providers and even Vesvai’s local government promised that they are working on restoring access to the internet.

Vesvai’s First Minister Jonathan Mollisal called out those causing problems for the law enforcement:

“[P]ardon me if I sound like a bommer but these are just unoccupied youths. The internet is gone so they have nothing else to do but return to what youth used to do before the era of internet. I’m sorry but hooliganism and causing problems for the law enforcement has often been the case. When I was younger I did not partake in anything like that but I remember certain neighborhoods and what was happening there. Now it seems like they’re bringing it back but our law enforcement won’t tolerate it. These teenagers and young adults energized on rock and metal music from Corentia, especially Sunrisia, are ready to burn anything down. They’re supposedly rebelling against authority but they can’t even explain what they are rebelling against and why. We all know that there’s no normal life without proper authority. My point is no matter what kind of internet withdrawal they’re going through hooliganism will not be tolerated. Our law enforcement will take care of it all. This will not become a trend of regular behavior on the island in absence of the internet. We’re not returning to primal times and definitely not allowing any anarchy here. Those who think they can get away with this think again. We’re coming for you.”

New Minister Of Security Vîsár Inpétăs In West Zilveren Berg On An Official Visit

Image

New Minister of Security of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Vîsár Inpétăs is on his first official visit to West Zilveren Berg, since taking office. The Minister is there to meet with Chief Secretary Faas Van Hoebeek of West Zilveren Berg, visit the Senate and House of Representatives of West Zilveren Berg, and, of course, to meet with counterparts in West Zilveren Berg’s Department of Defense. This is also a first visit by a Sunrisian official, since West Zilveren Berg finally launched and inaugurated its’ national military – the West Zilveren Self-Defense Forces (WZSFD). West Zilveren Berg formally launched WZSDF into service by commemorating it with the first and only military parade that the country plans to ever hold. Sunrisia helped arm, equip and train the West Zilveren Military, therefore, in the words of Minister Vîsár Inpétăs himself – “In a way, it is almost like our “baby” too, so we want to see how it turned out. We just want to take a look at it.

WZSFD is an all-professional and volunteer-based military, however, by current West Zilveren law, there’s a mandatory gender-neutral registration with the military for potential obligatory service, in case a draft may one day be required. That is a topic of political debate in West Zilveren Berg right now. Minister of Security Vîsár Inpétăs confirmed Sunrisian commitment to the Security Treaty (Sunrisia–West Zilveren Berg), under which Sunrisia obliges to militarily protect West Zilveren Berg from an outside attack or invasion, while West Zilveren Berg would militarily assist Sunrisia in non-combat areas, like peacekeeping for example. The Minister also verbalized continued Sunrisian support for and respect of West Zilveren Berg’s status of neutrality and being a non-bloc country. Minister Inpétăs also promised that Sunrisia would keep its’ role as a lead arms supplier West Zilveren Berg, where our country currently enjoys a monopoly, just like in the reconstruction and development of West Zilveren infrastructure for Sunrisian companies.

Minister of Security Vîsár Inpétăs is set to observe one of the first individual training exercises by WZSFD, alongside Chief Secretary Faas Van Hoebeek of West Zilveren Berg, West Zilveren Defense Department officials and military officials. Minister Inpétăs said that it is optional that Sunrisia could continue a training program for West Zilveren armed forces, although, from his current early observations, it already looks like WZSFD has learned a lot from Sunrisian military instructors that have been here before and since West Zilveren Berg proclaimed statehood. Sometimes, they still periodically drop by.

West Zilveren Berg Hosts Visiting Sunrisian Minister Of Security Vîsár Inpétăs

West Zilveren Berg has welcomed the visiting new Sunrisian Minister of Security Vîsár Inpétăs, who is making his first official visit in office to West Zilveren Berg from all the places he could be visiting. Head of government Chief Secretary Faas Van Hoebeek has welcomed the guest upon his arrival with a West Zilveren delegation. The infrastructure of West Zilveren Berg is still underdeveloped, but there is a modest airport in New Kengara, which was where the guest’s plane land. The airport will continue to be modified and West Zilveren infrastructure will continue to grow and develop, thanks to Sunrisians as well. The Sunrisian Security Minister will be brought to the Senate and the House of Representatives, while also meeting with officials from the West Zilveren Defense Department and with military officials associated with the West Zilveren Self-Defense Forces (WZSDF).

This is a timely visit, because this is the first time any Sunrisian official, especially the Security Minister, is visiting West Zilveren Berg since the country finally launched the West Zilveren Self-Defense Forces (WZSDF) as the official national military. It was important to see Sunrisian feedback and to show the Sunrisians where their investment in West Zilveren security went. After all, Sunrisia armed, equipped and trained WZSDF, basically making it their own creation and a gift to West Zilveren Berg as well. The Sunrisian Security Minister is scheduled to observe the armed forces of West Zilveren Berg in action, including watching in action using skills taught by Sunrisian instructors and armed with Sunrisian weapons.

The bilateral discussions are set to revolve around a possible continued training program by Sunrisian armed forces to West Zilveren armed forces, as well as a bilateral commitment to the Security Treaty between the countries, which obliges Sunrisia to defend West Zilveren Berg from outside aggression, while West Zilveren Berg aids Sunrisia militarily in non-combat scenarios like peacekeeping or humanitarian action. The West Zilveren side expects a promised diplomatic statement about Sunrisia’s respect to West Zilveren Berg’s choice to be a neutral and non-bloc country.
