Squadra Nazionale di Juvencus

Gli attaccanti is back on track for another attempt at getting into a world cup and solidifying themselves as a historical squad. Last cycle brought a bunch of upsets for the team, and with another fail to qualify for the world cup, this could signify Scordato's position in the team is in jeopardy. With a different, less offensive approach to the game, at least on the books, the team will be looking to get into the world cup finals and probably go super deep, unlike in other cycles.

please dont pronounce the meat in klirsmeat as you would in english D:

Trigramme: LNS
Kit: Red/White with a key in the middle home kit, Yellow/Black for the away kit

Background: Lons has had a patchy history on the international playing fields, with new eras being turned into seemingly once every year or so. The Lonish football scene now is uncomparable to what it looked like when the country first took part, with the Baptism of Fire 56, or any of the other participations on the fields, such as in Qualifiers of World Cups 69, 71, 72, 73, 75 and 83. With a recent return to the scene, Lons has organized a new overseeing organization, the PLND, Prîskêv Lôniêv Nânselp Dônlisat, which has brought bureaucracy to the previously shallow Lonish football scene. New development are being made, and the national league, as opposed to the flurry of unorganized "professional" leagues, has been up and running for two seasons now, and from this league, national coach Fûsk Dorânlôn has selected his starting 11, as well as some substitutes of course.

About Lons: Map*
Lons as a country has existed since quite some time, but in its current shape with the current borders only since 1927 - when Condeuva seceded from the country. Okay, to be entirely fair, it didn't reach the exact current borders until 1999, when the independent county of Ôlivin, on the border between Lons and Condeuva was officially transferred as a permanent country within the country of Lons. The microcountry had begun to exist when Condeuva seceded, as neither country would give it up, the country having been part of both the Zârgaî district in Lons, and the former Kônduvâ district, from which Condeuva was made. As such, every 3 years ownership of the microcountry which was technically independent, was transferred between Lons and Condeuva, until the Condeuvans finally gave up in 1999. Eitherway, I degress. Lons is divided into 18 districts, as well as 2 special autonomous regions, and 4 different countries, 2 of which coincide with these autonomous regions. More commonly, however, Lons is seen as the union of 3 specific regions, being Koklates in the North, Heltavan in the South, and Asmal in the East. Even the full official name of Lons names these three: The Lonish People's Republic from the union of Koklates, Asmal and Heltavan.
Of these three regions, which, for the record, bear no significance in Lonish governmental function, Heltavan is the most affluent, home to the capital, Kêlik, as well as the two biggest cities in the country, Âlesiâ and Estôn Ârbâ. Asmal, a former independent empire, is rather mixed, containing both strongly rural areas, such as the Têsilôn and Zârgaî districts, as well as heavily urbanized areas, like in Âvorven Klirn and Pôrdatênlôn. Koklates is typically more rural, but also in the north lie two of the largest urban areas of the country, in Aglenê and Îê Tuî (around Îetupâl).

Venues:
Because this is the new presentation of Lons into the world of international football, the PLND has decided it to be wise to attempt to visit as many of the different districts of Lons as possible. For this reason, there are as many selected venues as there are prospected matches played in Lons, to hopefully show off as much of the country as possible. The goal was to select an as varied as possible range of destinations, while maintaining playing in large enough stadiums wherever possible.

Quote of the Week: "A NEW STORY ON WRITING THREAD FOR HALLOWEEN!! MYSTERY MINE AVAILABLE NOW!"

RPs I do
- How do you do fellow kids? You want to see something violent? - Artemis: Deimos Trafficking League (Horror/Mature)
- Descend into the forgotten tourist traps of Florida on this transgressive RP! - The Community (Mature/Black Comedy/Slice-of-Life)

My overall account that I use for P2TM and even for international roleplaying! MNM is a mysterious and extremely dangerous dictatorship filled with supernatural oddities, demons, militarized soldiers everywhere, and a misanthropic nihilistic dictator who doesn't give a damn. It's basically if the SCP Foundation got mixed with 1984.

Manager
Colin Donaldson Image
Age: 52
Former Schottia skipper, and assistant boss under Lionel Mah, he is a legendary figure back home. He served his apprenticeship during Schottia’s rise to the top of the World Rankings, and has witnessed success - and the sacrifices required – up close. He’s attack minded, but not gung-ho, and will assess the squad before making a decision. Now he has the mantle of the Marauders and will be asked to take the team from rebuilding to once again being a true contender for the World Cup and AOCAF in every edition that the squad enters, having made decent strides in his first outing in getting the Marauders to the AOCAF Final but not able to unseat cohosts and World Champions Equestria to nab the title. That form though should see the side on a high heading into the Qualifiers.

Assistant Manager
Jens Reiniger Image
Age: 46
Reiniger was an intelligent defender in his playing days with Crawford City FC and the idea of stepping away from the game after his playing retirement didn't sit well with him. Reiniger believes in strict discipline but in being fair, while also preferring to play a possession based defensive tactic, that takes advantage of the opposition when they overextend. Much was admired about his single-minded approach to playing the 'right way', but his lack of a Plan B sank him in the rough waters of the Nepharim Premiership. The VSC hopes that attitude and defensive prowess would be better utilized in a national team capacity.

Keeper

1 Sean Smørdal, Starling Image
Age - 30
Sex - M
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 181 lbs
His height, sheer natural athleticism, and profound reflexes have been put to the test both domestically and for the national teams. There are many glimpses of what could be a stand out keeper for the ages but there seems to be a lack of focus to keep that majesty going. Regardless, he has proven to be one of the better keepers in the Marauders recent history and is heads and shoulders above the competition for the number one jersey. If he were to only refine that focus, get more consistent, then the Marauders could lessen their worry about defense and get back to playing the free flowing attacking play that they made famous nearly eighty years ago.

Defenders

2 Iben Fjørtoft, Raynor City United
Age - 30
Sex - F
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 158 lbs
Iben is a quick defender that typically plays on the right side for her the Rockers but can play more centrally if needed to. She is a quiet force that doesn't like to get forward unless she absolutely needs to, preferring to be that agile cover defender that allows the more offensive minded midfielders to get into the attacking area.

3 Eivind Strømmen, Eastal Lunar FC Image
Age - 29
Sex - M
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 191 lbs
Eivind is a strong and steely defender with a bit of a no nonsense approach to the game and is known for some bone crushing tackles that somehow are always deemed to be clean by officials.

4 Jouri Salverda, Mallox Image
Age - 30
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 168 lbs
A fleet footed defender who doesn't get forward too often but is a decent crosser of the ball when he is forward and can occasionally get a solid header on goal. His recovery speed though is his greatest strength, for when attackers are able to get around him. Prefers to play as a fullback or wingback compared to the center but can do the job reasonably well.

Midfield

21 Espy va Drake, 1830 Cathair Image
Age: 779
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 159 lbs
After becoming a folklore hero for the lower class of the world, va Drake has made himself one of the living legends of the game after help leading the side to a title in World Cup 53. He has traveled far and wide while plying his trade, donning kits for no less than five countries' clubs. Seen as the driving force in the middle of the park alongside Hawk, it is up to the opposition to try and figure out how to deal with the brilliance the winger and his other attackers have rather than them to create magic.

6 Yuki Hatsune Image, FC Capri
Age - 30
Sex - M
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 147 lbs
This midfielder was born in the Sunrise Islands but came to Valanora at an early age and has really blossomed over the last five or so seasons to a versatile midfielder, though he prefers to play a little further up the pitch in a more attacking role. He's got an accurate shot from long range and can mix it up with most other players in the middle in those fifty-fifty balls, though he would prefer to leave that part of the game to the defenders and more defensive minded midfielders.

10 Laborious Hawk, AC Izotz Zubia Image
Age - 743
Sex -M
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 213 lbs
Words do not even begin to define his talent, his talent defines words. He was awarded one of the spots that the Vanorians have in the World Cup Hall of Fame, with it being very well deserved, as he has and continues to earn everything he has been given every single day. Hawk simply strives to be the very best footballer, captain, and teammate that there can be, with the hunger for perfection driving him forth on and off the pitch.

8 Ilglerdiriel Lithvathar, Raynor City United
Age - 749
Sex - F
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 149 lbs
Lithvathar is much like va Drake, a floater who is dynamic in attack but with enough speed and sense of the pitch to make up on any sort of defensive lapse. Yet unlike her flankmate, she is not nearly as skilled, but do not let that fool you, in a moment of magic she can undress an entire backline and set up more prolific scorers with easy chances.

7 Faeron Soldarian, 1830 Cathair Image
Age - 657
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 163 lbs
Soldarian continues to live in the shadow of more well known players both on the national team and with his club. Despite this, Soldarian is seen by all on the squad as the emotional leader and the linchpin the in the middle that allows the more attacking minded midfielders being allowed to play their game.

Strikers

9 Olivia Nygård, Newrook City Image
Age - 30
Sex - F
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 148 lbs
A seasoned striker who has proven her worth time and time again from coming off the bench. Now her time has come to try and make her way as a starter, using an elegant amount of pace and power to get the goals her squad needs. While not expected to completely fill the gap that the departure of Fresco brings, she is expected to put in a solid effort and to make the most of the chances that come her way.

11 Thor Møller, OAS Royal FC Image
Age - 26
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 157 lbs
Few wondered if this day would come, but it has come at last as Thor makes good on the promise that so many saw from him as teenager and is into the full national team and among the starting eleven. Stronger than what he appears and reasonably quick enough to get past more bulky defenders, his shot is arguably his best asset with it seemingly a thunderstruck ball with laser guided accuracy, if you believed the fans. Decent enough at the build up play if needed but he does prefer to run at the defense rather than playing with his back to the net.

Manager: Miles Snavely
Snavely's Copa Rushmori debut was just as could be expected for the Purple Knights. Months after scoring in a World Cup he was pushing the Purple Knights to an all to familiar Quarter-final matchup with Eura. Like many of his predecessors that managed to be the end point of the campaign. The team learned a lot, and it is a young team but the whole squad comes into their first qualifying campaign in their current setup, under the new manager and Snavely's second career will start to be judged like his first.

1 – Florian Wagner – Capetown Crocs 4 Caps, 0 Goals, 16 Years Old
Wagner has struggled in his second full season in the Premier League. Capetown is average as for goals allowed, but Wanger has mad a few mistakes. The young net-minder will have to have his wits about him to qualify for a World Cup. If not it is likely a quick yank with a lot of matchdays to have this team gel in qualifying.

12 – Esteban Foh – X Island Marauders 6 Caps, 26 Years Old
The oldest Goalkeeper on the squad is X Island's keeper, Foh. Foh has the hot hand in net and could get some starts in the chance that Wagner looks bad in goal. The Marauders have the best goals against in the league and Foh is a big part of it, he may get his chance as the starter yet.

24– Aysa Madison – Atlantea Hurricanes 3 Caps, 22 Years Old
Aysa Madison seems the second hottest of the goalkeepers, unfortunately for her the Hurricanes offense can't seem to put a lot of the ball in the net. She likely won't see the field except in case of major emergency. She'll mostly be around to cheer on her fellow teammates.

DEFENDERS

4 - CB, Randall Abl Bakr – 151 Caps, 5 Goals, 29 Years OldCaptain
Abl Bakr turned defender for the Copa Rushmori and it has been a semi-succesful way to elongate the Captain's career. Always a leader and a longtime center defensive midfielder, Abl Bakr has added a lot of skill to the passing out of the back. Likely to be his final season in the national team Abl Bakr will likely want to add two-time qualifier to his resume, even if it goes below never finishes above 16th in the Premier League.

8 - CB, Daigo Coshan - Laketown Rangers 73 Caps, 1 goal, 26 Years Old
Daigo Coshan's switch to Center Back from Right Back was more natural than Randall Abl Bakr's playing as the Rangers' center back for half a decade. The now ball-winning of the two center backs seemed to be a more natural fit for the position, and hopefully he can show that in qualifiers as the Knights try to take a vice-grip on opposing defenses.

11 - RB, Geoffrey Klingenberg - FC Brimstone (Apox) 120 Caps, 12 Goals, 28 Years Old Vice-Captain
Moving slowly down the right side of the field seemed an inevitability for Klingenberg. He may stick around for a whole other campaign after this, but with a lot of young players nipping at his heels, and the holy grail of qualification behind him maybe he joins Randall Abl Bakr in the sun after this qualifiers.

22 - LB, Santiago Santiago – Mulhampstead (Apox) 37 Caps, 23 Years Old
From young guy on the back line by far, to still young guy on the back line Santiago Santiago has been a stalwart for club and country for five seasons. That said rumors are with if his club doesn't earn promotion he may look to continue his travels elsewhere, or return to Taeshan. Especially if football in the nation continues to grow once again league and country wise.

2 – Desmond Cavanaugh – X Island Marauders 5 caps, 22 Years Old
A big part of the succesful defense for X Island Cavanugh is the main center back option on the bench. Young, and likely annoyed by the central defensive ideas of Randall Abl Bakr he will likely push as much as he can to see the field this campaign.

3- Victor Borja– Club Jim Falls (Darmen) 8 Caps, 23 Years Old
The only real fullback option on the bench Borja moved to Darmen after a strong performance in the Copa Rushmori off the bench. While he seems unlikely to unseat Geoffrey Klingenberg he could be gifted the spot with the relative lack of young full backs in the system. At least until 15 year old Sullivan Garrett and he can't possibly be ready yet. Or needed...Right?

5- Aidan Foster – Atlantea Hurricanes 4 Caps, 23 Years Old
Aidan Foster is a strong center back option on the bench, and a full back in a pinch. He's best used in a back three and could be a big part of pushing the side forward.

MIDFIELDERS

6- CDM, Yoshimi Hirahito – Cornellians (Schottia) 21 Caps, 0 Goals, 18 Years old
A small set of leaks could be found in the Purple Knights defense, but with a striker as a head coach and a more attacking midfielder than in decades at the 6 that could be expected. Yoshimi is not a destroyer like some Taeshani CDM's of lore, but he's also not a tempo player like Randall Abl Bakr and the side has to get used to his fluidity in midfield. That may require some growing pains.

10- CAM, Alson Figueroa - Fadron Flight 73 Caps, 8 goals, 26 Years Old
A continued presence in attacking midfield Figueroa went from the young gun, to the moldy oldy in one offseason. His club sits in the top 8 as usual, not really challenging for the title but definitely competiting. He pulls the strings for the squad and adds a lot of defensive work rate.

14 - RM, Nycolas Jackson – Willox Street Pirates (Schottia) 30 Caps, 2 Goals, 19 Years Old
A technical midfielder for the Knights the right footed Jackson has been waiting for a starting spot for a few years and pushes the tempo for the midfield. The two outer players in the midfield make this team run and are a lot of the reason why they will be successful moving forward.

18- LM Shiloh Morgenstern – Real Azuris (Cosumar) 41 Caps, 5 Goals, 22 Years Old
Successful is the operative word for Shiloh Morgenstern. As in finally successful in escaping the relegation fire trap that has been Al Haxire. As he went, so they seem to be falling down. Shiloh's new home in Cosumar is relatively familiar to Taeshani fans, and his strong left foot was relatively a huge part of the Knights qualifying for a world cup.

15 – Elaine Mathieu – Mierton Manatees 12 Caps, 23 Years Old
A central midfield option on the bench Mathieu has continued to be strong in Mierton. Fifth place but pushing Mathieu has really been a strong character in the Manatees attempts at pushing for the title.

17- Xavier Melchoir – Real Atlantea 0 Caps, 0 Goals, 23 Years Old
A relative oddity in Xavier Melchoir helping Real Atlantea to 9th at the halfway point of the season. Many years of relative obscurity for the longtime title contenders, but Melchoir's ability in the center of the field has really pushed the team to being competitive. Somewhat.

20 – Benjamin Moriarty – Yaton FC 1 Caps, 0 Goals, 20 Years Old
One of the two strongest contenders for in-form member of the national team as Moriarty has been on the commentators tongues for much of the season. Tied for second Yaton has been pushing 1093 Atlantea, and leaders Laketown, and a lot of it is due to left footed wing/midfielder Moriarty. A lot of goals, and assists, and lot of worried starters.

21 – Larson Sneijder – Yenvil Town FC 0 Caps, 0 Goals, 18 Years Old
The other bench player in midfield pushing for international playing time is the number 21. Yenvil in 14th in the league is a shock, but less shocking is Sneijder scoring goals and taking names. He will get Yenvil their first national team cap, and likely also push for a starting spot in the squad.

22 – Wallace Kepler – Tintown Terrapins 10 Caps, 26 Years Old
The aged midfielder on the bench at 26 Kepler seems unlikely to push a lot for playing time, especially as a better starter than sub, but he still sits on the squad moving forward.

STRIKERS

7 - RS, Abriel Torres - Cloudsedale Flyers (Equestrian States) 58 Caps, 11 Goals, 25 Years Old
The speedier of the two forwards, and with a long career in Equestrian States, Torres continues to be a strong forward for the national team. He will look to combine with Nkitilina, much like they did to qualify for the last world cup, and make a lot of magic happen.

9 - LS, Wilhelm Nkitilina – AFC Mayville 28 Caps, 10 Goals, 20 Years Old
For most of the team the matchup with Eura in the quarterfinals was less than thrilling, especially going out 2-0 in the regional competition to a familiar rival. But Nkitilina apparently showed enough to earn a move from Atlantea to Mayville where he has a lot more eyes on him. A big fish in a small pond, to a medium fish in a huge pond.

13 – Shannon Lafayette - Ojian Orangemen 1 Caps, 0 Goals, 18 Years Old
Shannon Lafayette is a strong striker looking for a move soon from a week Premier League squad and that could be a factor as he looks to score a lot of points for the national team and push the side forward.

19 – Giacomo Pantalaimon – Hannah 0 Caps, 0 Goals, 19 Years Old
Another striker option is Pantalaimon. He Hannah striker has been a big part in their part in the top of half of the table. A little bit of a surprise for the side, but for the most part Pantalaimon is in the top 5 in goals in the league, which is a lot of a shock for the league.

Formation 4-4-2 (Diamond)
--Wagner--
--Klingenberg--Coshan—Abl Bakr--Santiago--
--Hirahito--
--Jackson--Morgenstern--
--Figueroa--
--Torres--Nkitilina----

Republican National Soccer Team, LLC

Image

NOTE: The Republican National Team will only play a full-strength lineup in Qualifying against the higher seeds or in must-win matches. Against weaker opposition, some backups will see playing time in the interest of keeping the starters fresh for the World Cup Finals. With the longer qualifying cycle this time, the backups will be seeing even more playing time than usual. If the Republicans are playing a BoF side and are scheduled to play a top seed in their next match, they will likely be picking a starting 11 from the bench. All 30 players will see the pitch in at least a few qualifying matches.

Notes

After two years away from international soccer, Republican National Soccer Team, LLC reformed two years ago just as its owner and sole proprietor was awarded the title of Soccer General by Consul Kyle Bolton. Soccer General Rule Theriault held open tryouts throughout the FFR to find the best young soccer players and the hottest high school cheerleaders in the Federation and get them under contract to Republican National Soccer Team, LLC. After travelling across the Federation and holding 60 open tryouts, a total of 27 soccer players and 68 cheerleaders were selected for the team based on their performance, (in the case of the soccer players) game tape and discussions with their coaches. At this time, Theriault is unsure whether any of the players stand out above the rest but he is hopeful that they will be responsible to coaching from the first Soccer General in the history of the Free Republics and his legendary assistant manager Sir Koby Theodore, who shined so memorably in World Cups 68 and 71. While rumor has it that looks were a factor in selecting both the soccer team and the cheerleading squad, Soccer General Rule Theriault denies rumors that Nova Hellstrom-Hancock and Lucia Bolton had a role in selecting players for the soccer team, though he does admit that Sir Koby Theodore and Consul Kyle Bolton hand-picked the cheerleaders.

In the year since World Cup 78, the Free Republics fell into a civil war. Political tensions that had been brewing for a long time between the political mainstream and the progressive left finally boiled over at the Unite the Left rally in Goldberg, Nejax. The small college town, home to the University of Nejax, was the site of disturbing political violence as an extreme progressive ran over 5 people, including University of Nejax pitcher Jurgen Eberhardt, the ace of the school's baseball team. A wave of left-wing domestic terror followed, leading to the passage of the Stop Aggressive Violent Extremism (SAVE) Act which granted extraordinary powers to the Federation Investigation Bureau (FIB) to protect public safety. 32 Republics responded to this by seceding from the FFR to form the Confederacy of Leftist Republics, which quickly became a state sponsor of terror. In the months since, the Republican armed forces have lost battle after battle to the Confederates and the FFR has suffered from many acts of terror, some of which, such as the destruction of the entries into international tournaments of the National Baseball Team and the National Hockey Team have had serious repercussions for Republican international sports. Eventually, the Leftist Republics were defeated and their territory turned into extremist containment zones known as "Charter Societies" as part of an effort to end political extremism in the Free Republics.

As the civil war was going on within the Free Republics, the National Soccer Team somehow managed to qualify for the World Cup, shocking almost everybody throughout the multiverse. However, they did not lost all 3 of their group stage matches that year and very much looked like a fluke qualifier. Last year, the Republican National Team headed into the Independents Cup in Schottia last year, where they announced their return to respectability in international soccer by winning the tournament, albeit with a fairly controversial victory over Mercedini and a poor group stage performance along the way. Then, they managed to qualify for the World Cup again in rather ugly fashion, drawing their first 4 matches, going just 8-7-3 in qualifying and barely managing to finish 3rd in their group. After defeating Apox rather easily in a playoff, they proceeded to lose 2 more World Cup group stage matches before drawing Abanhfleft in a meaningless match on the final day. 2 years ago saw the Republican National Team pick up 3rd place finishes at the Independents Cup, Cup of Champions and World Cup, all of which were held on home soil. 2 years ago was disappointing with the Republicans going out during the group stage at both the Independents Cup and World Cup. Last year's Independents Cup saw the Republicans go out in the Quarterfinals against Kavagrad and the World Cup saw the Republicans introduce a new fight song, win their opening match against Mercedini convincingly and then proceed to lose 2 straight matches and go out again in the group stage. This year, the Republicans would be knocked out by Drawkland in the Quarterfinals of the Independents Cup before the U-18 team unexpectedly finished third at the Sporting World Cup with Archie White, Faith Marshall and Amy Ashbolt earning spots on the roster.

TROLLEBORG NATIONAL TEAM

Trigram: TRL
Nickname: Trolls
Games history +9=0-1
KPB Ranking: 175th (2.70 points).
Winner of the 71th Baptism of Fire competition.
FA Chief Executive Torben Mortensen.

Trolleborg is a huge country having reason to be proud, because it’s regularly receives high marks in various ratings that assess the quality of life and economic situation. But many years ago we ceased to be interested in affairs abroad, resign from the World Assembly and almost cease to make himself seen in the world. But now our national leader propose: “Let’s open the door slightly and see what happens!”. Our sport teams is already take a part in U18 World Cup, where trolleborgians put a decent display and Baptism of Fire, which our team won. And there was a talk about hockey team for planning international league and basketball team for a next world championship.

Image

Football is a prime sport for a country, with a league having ended 127th season right now, albeit a big chunks of the Republic’s population tend to play cricket (southeast), basketball (northwest) and concentrate on martial arts of every sort (far north). There was a healthy decentralization of soccer in the country, there was no need for a serious monies to build a winning team, and most of the teams accept raising local youngsters as a main way to success. With a strong local teams everywhere, two teams from economical and political hub of the nation, i.e. Trolleborg City, win one of three tournaments at best.

Usually teams in Trolleborg employ pay-as-you-play performance-based system of wages. This is apart from the one team, that historically paid to the players accordingly to complex set of rules, taking into account things like a social stature, role on the field and so on. Many clubs prefer to give a voice in this regard to fans. Fans, from their side, expect a strong teamwork, so players has an incentive play as good as only can and not concentrate on the self-promotion.

It’s possible to sign foreign players, but but if teams wish to do so, they must pay twice amount of transfer payment to the federation account, this money to be spent on the youth sport. As a results, Trolleborg teams usually sign only very famous and highly talented players from abroad. Such a players are expected and highly encouraged to visit sport schools, to give a lessons to the young, so youngsters can learn something useful and accustomed themselves with a foreign ways of playing, and usually foreign stars make himself mentor to the three or four youngsters.

There was a possibility to play abroad, but due to the strong local affinities and forementioned isolationism not many players taking this way.

National psyche (and forementioned considerations) tell players to put everything even if odds are heavily against, so almost every match played with high determination. Highly laudable was an example of player, who handball on the line kicking ball out of the empty net, when score was 0-3 with one minute to play, receiving a red card and penalty, but also a possibility to not having fourth goal (in the case opponent’s penalty taker missed the net, albeit it is not known are he does this deliberately).

National pride have a real big boost after Baptism of Fire triumph, and hopes are high, albeit FA chief already put some water on fire, making clear that even third place in group will be a very good result.

COACH

There was a voices to give a reins to the some foreign coach with a lot of experience in the international competitions and some silverware on his desk, but at the end it was decided to employ someone from our country, so we can attribute every success or failure to ourselves and measure it accordingly.
In the democratic traditions of the Republic, fans also given a voice in the selections process, 30 percent of votes. Moreover, one of the fans, who was found most knowledgeable and charismatic, was after serious selection process (again with a strong input from the fans) given a place in the training staff with a view to see things with a fresh look and kept ordinary people well informed.

After deliberations selection was made from the six top candidates. So there he was –
Morten TROGHIL - 52 at the time, he was a strong favourite from the start, since he have a record of building teams at the different places, make them play attractive fast football and won numerous competitions – in his fifteen-years coaching career he capture five championships with a two different teams and five cups with three different teams. He won a Baptism of Fire tournament, but it’s seen what he will be able to do in a much more challenging circumstances of qualifiying tournament.

PLAYERS

Basically, Morten Troghil begin where he ends – he take a same squad as in BoF tournament, but hinted that some decent players will be added as qualifying progressed.

Goalkeepers
Tomas Kot Kotsson (27) – 8 games\12 conceded goals. Flexible and agile, quick-thinking, he, alas, don’t make miracles on BoF. It will be seen, how things will looked like in a new tournament.
Marius Vrommen (28) – 2 games(-3). Not the most talented of the goalkeepers in the long history of our league, but he was selected for the BoF, albeit not played very convincingly.
Marten Windass (32) – 1(-0). There was a two strong contenders for the place of third keeper and lively debates are held, which one will be better in the case both first-choice keepers fail everything – seasoned veteran or young star – and place was given to first one. In the time, he was like a Kot Kotsson, and albeit now he wasn’t so fresh and fast as in his heyday, but he was extremely experienced and knows many secrets of goalkeeper trade.

Defenders
Nikolaas Laste (28) – 5. He was reliable left back, who has a tendency going forward, but in the recent years prefer to concentrate on his defensive duties, which he does very successfully.
Kasper Wolters (24) – 8. One of the team brightest stars, he is right back by default, but he is very strong, very fast, have a very good shot and even better crossing skill. Having all this, he very often make a lighting runs to the opposition box and sometime substitute right midfielder.
Torgeir Dushegub (29) – 9. Known as a Column, this tall and strong player usually dominates a box both in the air and at the grass. Being always calm and confidence, he projected aura of them around. Albeit in the local championship he often been seen in the opposition box when corner kick is played, in the international football he don’t make any runs forward.
Jowan Tro (27) – 8. Intelligent player, good in both defending and starting phase of the attack, with a strong header skills he can play both in the center and left side, but in the international line-up he usually play center defender or anchorman.
Gerald Joos (33) – 2. Despite playing whole his career for a one team, he is highly respected by the whole Trolleborg football world, known for his reliability. Excellent specialist in man-marking.
Aien Troger (26) – 8. He is fast, strongly build and extremely good in tackling. It’s very challenging to move into the box past him. Probably he will go into pages of history as one of the most brightest defenders of our championship.
Heiko Aldekamp (25) – 4. Useful addition to the team, can play both right and left defender, preferably first one, moving fast and tackling hard.
Morten Levenkrans (30) – 7(1). full left back in the beginning of his career, he than move to the center, having considered almost impassable in both positions. Albeit right now not the fastest man on the field, he is very good man-marker, having excellent header and can be very useful when attacks began. He married recently, and it will be seen how this how it will affect his performance.

Midfielders
Rolf Valgren (29) – 10(3). Quick-thinking, with a perfect understanding of game, seeing everyone and everything in the field, and with brilliant passing skills, this man can bring ball everywhere he wants. It is very possible, that he will be one of the greatest midfielders in the history of Trolleborg, have he not lacking some technique and speed. But he’s not lacking determination and tackle aggressively and successfully when not having the ball.
Ewood Magni (25) – 4. Left midfielder. He is from emigrants, having been, as a result, a differently build than most of the Trolleborgians, and known for his unusual and very elegant technique. In the young age he was known for a lack of understanding what to do with a ball apart from the dribbling out everyone on the way, but now he has a some discipline instilled, and was very useful team player.
Joris Koolen (29) – 2. Tough defensive midfielder, more than competent tackler, albeit slower when creating opportunities for forwards, with a good strong shot from the long distance, useful with a free kicks, he is well-known for his superstitions. Some people can find it laughable, but, nevertheless, his teams have unusually high percent of wins when he is on the field.
Finn Finnsnes (27) – 9(2). strong right midfield\right winger, swift, smart, good dribbler and excelled in set-pieces. He is only one in the whole selected team to play abroad, having spend three seasons at the top team in one of the regional strongest championship and won one bronze and one silver medal. But constantly changing coaches, each with own understanding what to do on the field, pressure of crowd due to the team instability when people expect unbroken strings of victories and adverse climatic conditions compelled him move back at Trolleborg. He was one of the creators of the victory in the BoF.
Morten Troll (24) – 9(7). He is a brightest star of under 25 in the whole country. Genius of game, with a wonderful dribbling, beautiful technique, excellent pass and extremely good shot, he won many games for his local team single-handedly, but also a great team player. Highly probably, he will be a player of generation, and very probably, best player Trolleborg ever had. He brilliantly justified all the positive reviews of his game on the BoF, helping a team many times in difficult situations with its smart actions.
Alexander Bornitse Zach “Zhita” (25) – 5. Originated from the far-flung north part of the country, not well-known for a excellent players, he was an idol for his compatriots and find a place in the hearts of other fans. Almost devoid of what was known as classical football tecnique, have rather unusual style of play and often creates goal opportunities from nowhere. One example was recent BoF, when his visible insane pass decided the outcome of the game in the quarterfinal.
Ruud Kolding (27) - 8. Left midfielder, covering lot of ground with his unbeliveable stamina, can press forwards or go back as team need. Albeit seen as a substitute, he won the hearts of fans and a strong place in the first team with his perfect game in the BoF matches.
Brutil Mogrin (27) – 3. Can play either in the center or as a right midfielder, with a nerves of steel and cold mind he will, probably, backup for a one of attacking players.

Forwards
Stuart Kerr (29) – 8(13). Best sniper of the last two championship, quick, brave, skillful, and having ability shot from everywhere in the box right despite defenders best efforts. Brilliantly confirmed his reputation as a prolific scorer, winning a prize for the topgoalscorer of BoF.
Torfinn Skaloed (27) – 8(2). Intelligent forward as it was, he can move very quickly, constantly ahead of the defenders, successfully escapes from markers, and in case of need he often going back and successfully acquire ball here to begin attacks. In the BoF games, he was, though, play mainly in the role of power forward, not quite familiar to him, and it was not his best games.
Tom Gulbranden (28) – 6(4). Build like a very tall stone wall, he easily can tramp defenders if he wish to do so, but his strong leg shot, without any preparation at all, give him other opportunity to have a points of popularity with fans. It is looked impossible, that a man of such a stature can bring himself in the air at all, but nevertheless he is – strongly jumping and struck the ball by the head with deadly precision. This is what he prove in the BoF games four time.
Kay Tjeerd (24) – 1. Fox-in-the-box as he is, fast and lucky, good substitution to the Skaloed if something will be wrong with him. His goal to game ratio is one of the best in the league’s history, albeit place in the lineup of international team eluded him for now.

It is widely understood that our team will play fast attacking football with a strong teamwork and apply pressing elsewhere on the field when ball is not on our side. The team is highly motivated, and prepare to fight and win, or at least to play as good as only can, or at the very least give everything trying to catch up when there was a 1-5 with a two minutes to go.

So, style modificator was +3

STADIUM

All Trolleborg’s home games, bar anything unusual happened, will be played in the capital, Trolleborg City, on a “1th December” Stadium, which have a capacity of 100000.

Image

This stadium was built by the voluntary labor of ordinary citizens in the honour of the sacred 1th December, Trolleborg Day of Victory. It’s located in the beautiful place – in the middle of a forested area on a peninsula protruding into the sea near the capital. Three stations of subway transport and stops of two bus routes located within two kilometers, and this allow fans arrive and leave stadium quickly and troubleless.

VISITING FANS

For fans of the guest teams, all possible facilities will be created. An art-of-science integrated payment system has been launched, which allows guests of the country to use their own credit cards, payment systems and banknotes directly, without resorting to currency exchange operations. The fans will benefit from the artificial intelligence system “Keith”, free for connection and use, which acts as a translator, transport consultant, leisure organizer, hotel search engine, and a ticket service for cultural events. Volunteers in costumes of saber-toothed cats, which was a mascot of our team, are placed at key points in the transport network, starting with the huge international airport, in order to help if something goes wrong.

(See Interview of FA chief executive for a details)

OUR FANS

Fans is a pride of Trolleborg and almost part of the team. Having already earning themselves a name and a good reputation at both U18 World Cup and BoF, they surely will make their presence seen and felt everywhere games will be held, with their usual pastimes like marching with songs, waving flags, try local cuisines, putting cultural performances and trying involve everyone around in all of this. They will give out some Trolleborg memorabilia like a ribbons, buttons, scarves and so on. As already become tradition, we ask host countries to allow a parade of fans with a live music before each game and a places for series of exhibitions devoted to gastronomy, culture and national traditions of our country. Also we ask allocate us some space in the hosting cities to make an exhibition of our cultural heritage and traditions with some traditional sport contests for a local citizens.

MEDIA

Bears Armed: the 'Bear-Belles'

Postby Bears Armed » Wed Dec 04, 2019 8:53 am

Bears Armed

‘The Bear-Belles’

National football organisation: ‘Bears Armed Association for Soccer’ (= ‘BAAS’).
BAAS Chairbear: Surranna SunDaughter (clan= Sun; female Ursine; formerly manager of ‘Sun Valley Smashers’, one of the country’s leading teams, after being their chief coach and also playing for them in various roles for several years; age = 46, fur = golden-brown, left-pawed, now wears glasses.)
National anthem (for sports): ‘The Banner Green And Gold’.
Official supporters' organisation: 'Arri's Furry Army'.

Yes, it’s an all-female team again. As I’ve explained before, this is because the main ball-game that's traditionally been played in Bears Armed is actually closer to being a form of Rugby, but [for several reasons] that sport’s “proper” teams are all-male and so some females who wanted to make it as players decided that switching to Soccer — and trying to establish a professional league for that sport for themselves instead — might be a viable alternative: They were right, because that professional league was founded shortly after WC44 and so has now been in operation for over an eightSquared of years.

All of the players and support staff are actual Ursines (i.e. anthropomorpic, bipedal Bears)], except for any whom I actually specify as being members of other ‘peoples’. The Harr'aynau people are physically human (more-or-less, anyway, although inclined towards heavy builds & hairiness), but are spiritually & culturally Ursine instead.

As far as Bears Armed is concerned, these qualifiers are spread over two years: In the Urssish calendar they are numbered 4215 & 4216, which are basically equivalent in the Gregorian calendar to [April-December 2024
AD + January-March 2025AD] & [April-December 2025AD + January-March 2026AD] respectively. That’s despite the fact that, according to Bears Armed’s previous timeline for sporting events, DBC #29 took place in the year 2100AD and so the “current” date really should be 2169AD instead: This fact will be considered in my RP…
The ages & lengths of experience currently given below are basically correct for the start of the qualifying process, although of course in some cases birthdays will take place during this ‘season’ rather than just (however much easier that would make keeping the records accurately…) only between ‘seasons’…

They have kept all of the staff from DBC46, and have added two more whom I’m listing here as well.
They are starting these qualifiers with a pool of players rather larger than the squad that will — if they qualify — go onwards into either the ‘World Cup’ proper or the ‘Cup of Harmony’. This includes twenty out of the twenty-two players from the DBC46 [winning] team (one was fired, but didn’t like travelling abroad anyway, and the other departure is concentrating on her academic studies instead), twelve of whom had also played in DBC45; six members of the DBC45 team [which marked the Belles’ return to international play by managing to reach the quarter-finals of that contest] who were too old to play in DBC46 as well, and five additional players who lack international experience but have demonstrated high quality in the ‘National League’ anyway…
They have continued to train as a team since DBC46, instead of just “resting on their hollies” fitting this in around club commitments and with some reductions in players’ obligations to their home clubs negotiated to allow extra time for this as well. This process has included continued work on the tighter defending and physical conditioning, and integrating the new recruits into their teamwork, that were emphases during the run-up to DBC46… and more work on ‘set pieces’, as well as ‘open field’ play, as well.

[She was in the DBC45 squad.]

(#35) Karra Bronze _ Clan = GreenWoods; female Ursine; home team = Barrdenn Barbariennes, category =Midfielder, usual position = Midfield Right; age = 23 years, left-pawed, fur = medium-brown with reddish tints, height = 6’4”; speaks Ursine and English, religion = One Plus Seven; interests include fashion, and rock music. [She was in the DBC45 squad.]

(#36) Karrh’hreena o Goodsword _ Clan = Sun; female Ursine; home team = Kingly City, category = Defender or Midfielder or even Winger, usual position = Midfield Left or possibly — if the chief coach is feeling “experimental” — ‘Wing Back [Left]’, experience = 9 years; age = 25 years, left-pawed, fur = ‘golden’, height = 6’6”; good eyesight even by human standards, and quite fast on her feet (not the fastest, but definitely above average), and has good positional awareness; long passes, across the field as well as up it, are likely from her; speaks Ursine and English; religion = One Plus Seven; another member of the squad’s own Chess Club. (These qualifiers are her international debut.)

(#7) Nerretta Barris _ Clan = BlackBear [Between-the-Rivers]; female Ursine; home team = LakePort Lions, category = Forward, usual position = Left Forward/‘Inside Left’; age = 21 years, left-pawed, fur = very dark brown; of only average height for her age [or slightly less] but physically tough as well as quite fast; particularly good at keeping control of the ball on the ground, and at getting it goals past keepers & other defenders into the net at short ranges, but willing to pass it to team-mates when they look better-placed to score. [She was in the DBC45 & DBC46 squads.]

(#10) Urrma Kuthbearrh _ Clan = Errhabarra; female Ursine; home team = NorthPort Navigators, category = Forward, usual position = Centre Forward (but has also played well as Left Forward); age = 21 years, left-pawed, fur = light-medium brown, relatively stocky but not particularly slow because of this; very determined even by Ursine standards. [She was in the DBC45 & DBC46 squads.]

(#11) Karra Brent _ Clan = Redwood; female Ursine; home team =LakePort Lionesses, category = Forward or Winger, usual position = Right Forward; age = 19 years, either-pawed, fur = golden-brown; quite large & very powerful for her age, fast & nimble, with very good eyesight even by human standards; apparently fearless, and has better control over her temper than might have been the case back around the time of DBC45; she is a cousin of the internationally famous journalist/broadcaster Bark Brent; attended Holy Ternian’s School. [She was in the DBC45 & DBC46 squads.]

(#21) Mirra Thunderbolt _ Clan = Gunnar; female Ursine; home team = Newton Arsenal; category = Forward or [“Attacking”] Midfielder, usual position = Right Forward or Midfield Right, experience = 5 years; age = 23 years, right-pawed, fur = medium brown, 6’4” tall, powerfully built, fast on her feet but more as a sprinter than as a long-distance runner, can jump quite well, good at long shots and can put enough strength behind these to get them past even some goalkeepers who do see them coming; speaks English, Ursine, and some French; religion = Ursionity. (These qualifiers are her international debut.)

[#22) Leona Wright _ Clan = Greybear; female Ursine; home team = River City, category = Forward or Winger, usual position = Forward Right or Right Winger; age = 20 years, right-pawed, fur = light brown (but, unlike that of many of her clan-mates, without any greyish tints); speaks English and Ursine; her father is a merchant who took her along on some trips into Human nations during school holidays from when she as 9 years old until when she was 18, and she probably understands humans better than any of her team-mates does. [She was in the DBC46 squad.]

(#23) Marra o Redbank _ Clan = BlackBear [‘Between-the-Rivers’]; female Ursine (‘black bear’ ancestry predominates); home team = Tsikago Aces(This team has just been promoted, in between DBC46 & these qualifiers, into the Second Division of the ‘National League’), category = Winger or Forward, usual position = any Winger or Forward — except ‘Centre Forward’ — but preferably on the left; age = 19 years, left-pawed, fur = black; speaks English and Ursine; nicknamed “Little Storm” because, although relatively short for an Ursine (at only 5’9”), she is determined, fast, and very hard for opponents to predict; very good at manoeuvring through tight defences, more likely to pass the ball to a more experienced Striker than to take a shot at goal herself but has scored some goals — including several from “surprisingly” wide angles — in the squad’s “warm-up” games before DBC46 and then two (one of them in the Cup Final) in that tournament itself. [She was in the DBC46 squad.]

(#24) Beorranna Norr-Vurra _ Clan = Redwood; female Ursine; home team = Merlchester Rovers, category = Forward, usual position = Centre Forward or Right Forward (also has some experience as Left Forward, and as Right Winger); age = 18 years, left-pawed (so normally plays “cross-pawed”), fur = dark-medium brown with [natural] chestnut highlights; speaks English, Ursine, some Arttorranick; not closely related to this team’s ‘Attacking Coach’; rather a devout follower of ‘One Plus Seven’, but not fanatical about it and tolerates the differing beliefs of others perfectly well; friendly rivalry with Harroya o Sarrndale. [She was in the DBC46 squad.]

(#37) Amarr’hrrree o Redwood _ Clan = Redwood; female Ursine; home team = Kingly City, category = Forward, usual position = Centre Forward; age = 24 years, left-pawed, fur = medium brown with chestnut hints, 6’7” tall, powerful even by Ursine standards; speaks Ursine, English, [some] Artorranick, and [some] German; religion = Ursionity; interests include weightlifting, wrestling. [She was in the DBC45 squad.]

(#12) Lurrsee Fane _ Clan = GreenWoods; female Ursine; home team = LakePort Lionesses, category = Winger or Forward, usual position = Left Winger or ‘Outside Left’; age = 21 years, right-pawed, fur = light brown; maybe a bit flighty at times, but basically a good person, and tries to be a good influence on Karra Brent who is her best friend; she is the younger sister of famous journalist Florise Fane, who is married to Bark Brent; attended Holy Ternian’s School. [She was in the DBC45 and DBC46 squads.] (She is not playing in the second half of these qualifiers, due to pregnancy & then early motherhood…)

(#13) Sarranna White _ Clan = WestWoods; female Ursine; home team = Wiston City, category = Winger or Forward, usual position = Right Winger or Forward (‘Outside’) Right; age = 20 years, right-pawed, fur = ‘cream’; said to be better than most of her team-mates at understanding humans. [She was in the DBC45 and DBC46 squads.]

(#25) Jirroth’hra daughter-of-Harrieth’hrra _ Clan = Longwater [‘free sept’]; female Harr’aynau [humanoid]; home team = Heroes’ Park Heroines, category = Winger or Midfielder, usual position = Right Wing or Midfield Right, experience = 7 years; age = 24 years, right-footed, hair = chestnut, 6’2” tall, more lightly-built than is typical forHarr’aynau (more like a “standard” Human) build, and very fast on her feet; speaks Harraynau-Ursine, English, and Ursine; religion = Harr’aynau tradition of GreatBear-ism. (These qualifiers are her international debut.)

(#26) Hannorra Scarlett _ Clan = VerraVokksur [Free Sept]); female ‘Vokksurr’ [anthropomorphic Fox]; home team = LakePort Lionesses, category = “utility outfielder”, usual position = Forward or Winger; age = 17 years (but her people mature slightly faster than either Bears or Humans, so treat her as more like 21 or so instead for most purposes), right-pawed, fur = gingery-red (slightly paler on chest & belly, but of course you won’t see that during matches unless her shirt gets badly torn); 5’8” tall, with a slender build by usual human standards — let alone by Ursine ones — but with visible muscles and definitely stronger than some people might expect, and has a bushy tail about 3’ long which she normally holds up behind her back (Pulling her tail may draw a retaliatory snap with her long jaws & sharp teeth, although she tries not to bite people in most situations; the likeliest result, if the referees is observant and honest, would be yellow cards for both players involved…); her leg-joints work more like those of a non-anthropomorphic fox than like those of a human, meaning that she looks rather as though she has backward-pointing knees but those are really her ankles instead, which might make her movements a bit harder for other people to predict (but also means that the bones below that joint are more numerous, and therefore thinner, and therefore slightly more fragile, than those between a human’s knee & ankle…); interested in fashion, and may affect a ‘warrior princess’ style for foreign media (to her team-mates’ quite amusement). [She was in the DBC46 squad.]

Usual starters = #1 (or #27 or #30, q.v.), #2 & #3, either #4 or #17, #57, #10, #11, #12, #23, #13.
Usual substitutes #14 or #15 as Goalkeeper; bench will include a suitable selection to cover all of the other positions as well, varying from game to game so that [probably] everybody gets at least one chance to play, with both international experience and success so far during these qualifiers considered when deciding which players to use against the higher-ranked opponents rather than the lowest-ranked ones.

Style: Offensive, modifier = +3.5 ("A good offence is the best defence"...). This has actually been reduced slightly since DBC#45, when they used +4.0 instead, because team training since then has included a bit more emphasis on tightening up their defence.
They have also modified their planned formation slightly from the “traditional” Ursine one, which included a front row of at least 5 (normally arranged as 3 strikers & 2 wingers), with 2 midfielders, 2 backs, and a ‘Lynchpin’ (whose starting position was approximately be at the midpoint of an imaginary cross drawn between those other four non-forwards’ positions). Two of the strikers now drop back to a bit behind the line formed by the Centre Forward and the two wingers (who might move “in” by a little bit, as well), while the Lynchpin is now stationed noticeable closer to the backs than to the midfielders. “Joining the dots” would, looking at the pitch from above and placing the Bears’ goal-line at the bottom of the picture, give you [approximately] a stretched-sideways ‘W’ in front of a stretched-sideways ‘M’.

Penalties and direct free kicks are most commonly the responsibility of Karra Brent (#11), unless they are “last minute” ones (or within a few minutes of the game’s end, anyhows…) and the Bears really need another goal to turn a draw into a win or or even a loss into a draw: In the latter case this role is more likely to be assigned to Harroya o Sarrndale (#5) instead, because she is more likely to remain completely calm in such situations. Harroya is also the most likely player to take corners.
Alternatively, taking a penalty might sometimes be assigned to a different player if it was a foul on that player which led to us being awarded the right to that shot.

Opponents who RP first may _
Choose my goal-scorers: Y, except that this will NOT be the goalkeeper.
RP injuries to my players / Godmod injuries to my players / Hand out Yellow cards to my players / Hand out Red cards to my players: Y to all, at least to start with, but remember what I've written here and keep it in limits accordingly... Any really serious offences by my players would probably result in injuries to your players, and causing any serious injuries to my players would probably require such obviously-deliberate attacks that your players would get yellow or even red cards as a result too. Don’t kill anybody, or inflict injuries that would be serious enough to end careers, without checking with me & getting my approval (which is unlikely to be granted…) first. (#5) Harroya o Sarrndale should NOT be reported as being given any cards unless you can get my consent first. (#11) Karra Brent will NOT be injured by anything that ‘mundane’ players do during play, not even by the most open & violent physical attacks.
Godmod Other Events: Y, I suppose, at least as long as you do so in an AMUSING way... but please remember that Ursines are fully sapient beings, as much as Humans are, not instinct-driven animals. Oh, and of course female Ursines are not sexually interested in Humans (of either sex), and it's very unlikely that female Harr'ayanau would be either. Please don't have them run amok or outright revert to animality, without checking by TG first, don't make assumptions about their views on politics or religion, and don't do anything that would make more than one of them incapable of playing in their next game...

Kit: This incarnation of the team will normally wear the usual set of designs (from ‘ediraf’) that the Belles have favoured in the past.

Bears Armed has traditionally used base-8 arithmetic, for several reasons, and the set of ‘shirt numbers’assigned to this team’s players has been determined on that basis.

Home grounds

1/. Wimbley Stadium:[/b] Located a few miles to the north-north-west of Council Groves (our capital city), to which it is connected by rail as well as by road, this stadium was built from scratch — on part of a former Confederal Army base’s site — shortly before the qualifiers for WC52 began as a replacement for the Bear-Belles original “home” at ‘Plumtrees Park’ which has now been demolished. Its current capacity is approximately 60'000 for Ursines: Fitting about 40’000 humans into the visiting fans' half should be possible, and so that's as many as we'll let into the country. Accommodation for visiting teams & their staffs will be provided in a new hotel, less than a mile away, which has staff who are accustomed to dealing with Humans as well as with Ursines. The various other hotels in that complex and those at Council Groves can now provide about 12’000 rooms at a time, at varying prices, although of course some of those may already have been booked by people who have nothing to do with the Cup. Accommodation (at a fairly basic level) for up to 15’000 supporters will be available, at reasonable prices, in students' residences for the National University’s campus in that city: if any more than all of those facilities put together can house want to attend a match then they’ll have to borrow space in the area’s remaining Army camp instead...
There are still no direct inter-regional flights into Council Groves, so that visitors will have to travel by way of one of our neighbours and then continue onwards by one of the limited number of "local" air-flights or by rail. (People planning to arrive by rail will still have to travel via the nation of Mikitivity ... which still exists IC as far as the Bears are concerned, even though OOC it unfortunately CTEd years ago, because not only are there some bits of jointly-agreed RP that I want to keep but also that nation — and its routes onwards into the outside world — are/were located on the Bears’ most “accessible” border.)
This site will be used for most, but not all, of the Belles' matches. (list to be added)
Chief groundkeeper: Birra’hrreua Lirrenbrock _ a female ‘Brock’ [i.e. anthropomorphic Badger][/i] form the Lirrenbrock sept [This is a ‘free sept’, i.e. a smaller political entity than a clan or a ‘separate demi-clan, and has its territory not far from Wimbley]; she is in the third generation of her family to work here, but is the first of them to be in charge (although that role has usually been held by a Brock rather than by an Ursine).

2./ ‘NorthLands National Stadium’: Located at NorthPort, the most cosmopolitan city in The Ursine Northlands, this facility was originally built for use by the 'Northbears' WC49’s qualifiers. Unfortunately the place has since seen rather less use than was originally hoped, but it is still in good condition and will hold about 43’000 Ursines or over 60’000 humans (or, of course, proportionate numbers of a mixture of those two species) because it was deliberately built to be rather larger than 'Plumtrees Park' which was then the Mainland's 'national' stadium…
This site will be used for some of the Belles’ home games (list to be added), and also for some of any friendlies or matches in other Cups during this period as specified separately.
Foreigners coming to this stadium may either travel to the ‘Mainland’ and then continue hence via a set of ancient [& probably magical] ‘Gates’ that link the country’s two sections — completing their journey by either rail or riverboat after that — or take ship directly to NorthPort.
Chief groundkeeper: Gyrth’hrra ShipBear _ Clan = Seabear; female Ursine; age = 43, fur = light-medium brown; in her second year as boss here, after five years as an assistant; formerly a first-team goalkeeper with ‘NorthPort Voyagers’, who are one of this city’s two professional clubs, she had already started to study grounds-keeping before her retirement from play.

(In some previous cups a third stadium, at WestPort, was also used or a few matches: Circumstances [whose nature IC I have yet to determine, but OOC are that I still need to find its details…) mean that its availability this time around cannot yet be confirmed.

The ‘home’ games against Port Ember (on Matchday 7) and against ‘Razneta’ (on Matchday 17) will be played at NorthPort: All of the Bear-Belles’ other ‘home’ games in this series of qualifiers will be played at Wimbley.
Venues for any further ‘friendly’ matches arranged will be chosen closer to the dates of those games.

NOTES

Ursines may tend to be a bit less agile & slower to accelerate on average than humans of comparable ages, but this team's members were carefully selected so the gap between them & their opponents in this respect should be narrower than some people might expect. They do tend to have [slightly] poorer eyesight than humans, on the whole (although the members of both Clan Gunnar and the Sun Clan are generally an exception to this rule, and the eyesight of the latter group is actually often at [slightly] better-than-human levels instead), so long-distance passes & shots at goal will tend to be rarer behaviour for them than they are for human teams... but their typical size & strength mean that when they're running with the ball it will probably take a very brave human — as well as a very skilled one — to tackle them successfully (or, at least, one who has reasonable experience of playing against Ursines…), which should balance that factor pretty well. They don’t jump very well, but then they’re generally rather taller than most Human players to start with so they shouldn’t need to jump as often in order to intercept [relatively] high shots...
Ursines are physically robust, of course, which means that they're much less likely than humans are to suffer injuries in falls or collisions. The females of this species are more even-tempered than the males, and the team's members will try to stay on their best behaviour not only in order to do well in this contest but also to impress upon the watching humans that Ursines aren't just "dumb beasts". They will not 'dive', or feign injury in other ways, because suggesting that they could be harmed so easily goes strongly against the grain. ‘Northlanders’ are maybe not quite as "civilised" as the 'Mainlanders'… or, at any rate, that’s the traditional stereotype..
They generally do not perform the sort of extravagant ‘goal celebrations’ that are seen in some RL football today. A brief hug from a team-mate, or just a pat on the shoulder, is usually all that happens…
Unless our hosts at the match in question object, this team's members (including the designated substitutes for the match in question) will perform a [fairly short] ritual that's called the 'harrdiharr' on the pitch just before play begins... This is a traditional war-dance, meant to over-awe opponents, that has come to be a customary prelude for team games as well (similar to the [RL] New Zealanders' 'haka'...).
As has now been seen during various tournaments, some of our fans like to take drums — and possibly also 'Urrs-horns' [which are similar to Alpenhorns, cow-horns, or other "musical instruments", too — along to the matches…

The team is accompanied by a number of sapient Ravens, who are there both to gather information about the rival sides and to provide air cover in case of hostile waterfowl.

Name: TJUN-ia
NIckname: The Jaguars

FA TJUN-ia (the National Football Assocciation) were quite impressed with how the new team got on at the 71st Baptism of Fire. The team, with only interim coaches to lead them in Timuria, managed to make it to make it to the last 16 in TJUN-ia's first ever football tournament. One of the Coaches that were in Uryan was David Seems from TJUN-ia City. He was given the role of TJUN-ia's first ever Head Coach by the FA after the team got back. He will be looking for similar results in TJUN-ia's first ever World Cup...

The Jaguars used a 4-2-3-1 in Timuria, but David has a different vision for this team. Defence seemed to be plentiful in Uryan, but the offence was a key issue. Therefore, a 4-3-3 formation has been designed.

Mustardy National Team
World Cup Qualifying Squad

Home - mustard shirts; mustard shorts; mustard socks - all with charcoal & white trim
Away - white shirts; white shorts & socks with mustard & charcoal trim.

The small and unremarkable Principality of Mustardy, an altogether sensible and temperate island in a sea of madness and ridiculosity - this is an approximation of the Mustardo word lächerlechkeet - has declared the nation open to all-comers, including the bathers, swimmers and drinkers of said lunatic waters, for it's ill-prepared entry into the World Cup. Assembling a crack team of wizened veterans - there is tremendous respect for the aged in Mustardy - to plan and deliver a qualifying campaign predicted to result in many embarrassing defeats by the more cautious Mustardos, the Fussballfederatioun vu Moschtert (FFv.M) is proud to announce that, under the watchful eye of Directors Benoit and van Kraaken, the esteemed trainer Dik ten Beuenk has been appointed head coach of 'The Red Herrings', our team to thrill the world with moderately interesting and by no means ridiculous performances home and away against giants and minnows both. Recognising that every game will be a potential banana skin, in which Mustardy will feature as the banana, the FFv.M has appointed GuileTek sports manufacturers to produce a highly yellow outfit for the team, conveniently hitting the metaphorical mark on two fronts, what with the mustardy yellow colour of the famous Mustardy Mustard. Without further ado, let us present to you our great hope for the coming tournament - the moderately modest but by no means mighty Red Herrings:

BACKROOM STAFF
Head Coach: Dik ten Beuenk, 84, a professor in a tracksuit.
Team Co-Director: Basile Benoit, ancient and unjustified meddler in team affairs; not ten Beuenk's favourite.
Team Co-Director: Ab van Kraaken, 88, former Admiral of The Fleet and ten Beuenk's jolly good friend.
Assistant Head Coach: Lukas Wolff, age uncertain, preposterously large, uncomfortable relationship with ten Beuenk.
Player Coach: Stan Dereumaux, an ageless racehorse of an athlete, team captain.
Player Coach: Rémi Blendeman, also getting on a bit, but still good for 80 minutes at a gentle canter. Vice captain.
Player Coach: Willy Khant, long time team mate of Stan & Rémi, ceaseless whiner.
Physio: Elbert Eenkhoorn, positively ancient medic, possibly still using ragwort compresses for humors and kingsfoil for demonic infections.
Team Psychologist: Nic de Doncker, 103, Seussian analyst in a near-permanent state of confused startlement.
Data Analyst: Gustaaf Zwartjes, 80s, single-minded ex-footballer who believes he doesn't need an assistant.
Assistant Analyst: Scarlett Scarlett-Scarlett, 28, shamanic technomancer, orphan raised by naive tourists, conjurer of pixels.

Logistics Piet Husen, 115+, still such a sharp operator he negotiated a contract that includes a needless mention in the team roster.
Chief Fixer Rula D'Haene, 71, everyone demures to her will, so she is ideal on the ground in strange places.
Fixer Sébastien Klopp, age unknown, sartorially exquisite specimen of ruthless - or deadly - efficiency, easily confused with Mr. Sax.
Fixer Fernand Sax, age unknown, sartorially exquisite specimen of ruthless - or deadly - efficiency, interchangeable with Mr. Klopp.

PLAYING STAFF
- all players are amateur in The Principality, although expenses paid for appearing in this squad are allegedly exceedingly generous. Exceedingly generous.

RP Pointers
As a first entry into the World Cup and signed up with absolute minimal planning, there really are no pointers because I don't know what I'm doing with this yet. I may come back and edit this box once the world cup is under way. All I can say is, the average Mustardo works incredibly hard to remain average, and is thoroughly diligent in discharging their duties toward unerring unremarkableness, pleasing predictability and steady sensibility. So they will be reluctant to get into scrapes and will baulk at the nonsensical. Sorry, you are quite right - they are a bit boring...

Home games will be at 'The Speck' - as they have nicknamed their national stadium. It is located in the capital Héronne, which has a population of about, oh, lets say... 16,000. Which is about two thirds of the whole population of the principality.

HOME STADIUM
Image
Capacity: 80,000 - Tentai City, Tentai - Tenants: Tentai Astros, Tentai Jiangshi (Gridiron) and Tentai Celestials (Gridiron)

One of the most beautiful venues of Hinodejin football, now larger to properly host teams such as the two gridiron outfits of the Hinodejin capital, the Tentai National Stadium has been one of the main reasons for the rise of Tentai Astros with fans hoping that their relative success rubs off on both gridiron teams. It also hosts the national team since their return to the international fold. Not quite as esoteric as the Hinodejin national basketball team's venue (the Temple) but still makes for quite a fun trip.

MASCOT
Image
A new introduction to the national team, the Hinodejin first-ever national team mascot is going to be debuted in this very qualifying cycle. Named Misako, she's an avenging ghost that represents everything that the Imperial Hinodejin Football Association believes that the national team represents: a scary sight, a tendency to frighten opponents and with full desire to take back what's of the Hinodejin right (the World Cup). We also gave her a Naginata because we're still unsure whether someone else will try to do another little stunt like the Dreamplanetian one the other month.

RP PERMISSIONS
As you might've noticed, this team isn't entirely human. Just wanted to point out they're still fairly close to being human, just in case and a brief search will give you a good idea of what they look like, plus you can ask me about them if you want. Please don't kill the players. Injuries for large stretches of time have to be informed by telegram, or else they'll get the ignore canon treatment. Anything else (bar anything that destroys any city of the empire or its' people, just in case anyone gets a bit too creative) is fine by me.

Savojar Roster for WCQ 84

TEAM

STAFF

Coach: Olaf Jurtanen
Age: 37 // Coach since: CR 32
Olaf Jurtanen, nicknamed "the Mad Professor of Sumanen", has only held two major managerial posts before being promoted to national coach. A former player himself for Transport Hovikkära, the midfielder was known for exceptional game-reading. He had to end his career early after a long and protracted injury at age 26, leaving him with a slightly stiffer left leg. The trademark of Jurtanen is that he is extremely obsessive about his system and a tactical genius, often preparing to extreme lengths. His weakness as a coach is that he often lacks tact in guiding his players.

Coaching Team: Mikaela Rangren, Dmitri Simunov, Asgeir Rundberg
Ages: 45, 37, 62 // Special functions: Technical coach, Mental and Video coach, Physical trainer
Rangren got brought on board from the women's team by Jurtanen. In her previous function as the assistant of Lise Asbeck, she had shown a particular strength in keeping the team together. Her main function is to serve as technical coach and guide trainings to allow Jurtanen to free his mind for tactical pursuits.
Simunov has previously worked as video coach for the SFFB and works closely with Jurtanen to assist him in his near-obsessive preparation schemes. Furthermore, the Russian serves as a link to Russian players who may struggle with Savojarsk (the main language of the team) and has a certification to work as a mental trainer.
Rundberg is the newest addition to the team and got introduced after criticisms that the team had not been sufficiently prepared for the long WCQ campaign. As physical and conditioning trainer, he has a reputation of a tough and demanding man, although he works closely with the medical team to ensure Savojarna's players are well prepared for their games.

Goalkeeper Coach: Valtteri Andersson
Age: 45
Andersson was a long-term goalkeeper for Energie Thorsborg and got directly transferred into the club's youth department when he retired at age 33. Following some good work with the club's youth department, he got trained as a GK coach and worked with the first team and the U21 of Energie for a while before being brought onto the squad of the NT early on. He still works with Energie on the side and is reputed to be very good at developing a goalkeeper's weaknesses.

Doctor: Dr. Christer Ljungberg
Age: 51
Christer is the head of the medical team of the Savojar NT and generally has a reputation of being the Team Dad. Many players have come to him over the years to discuss their insecurities or physical problems, to the point that many consider Ljungberg to essentially be a second mental coach.

CORE PLAYERS
These are the players that can be expected to travel to all games unless injured/suspended/indicated not to do so by RP. They are likely to also make it to the World Cup, and form the stem of the team.

#1 Viktorija Petrova*
Position: GK // Age: 35 // Height: 186 cm // Club: RLSK Pawlograd
Petrova is at the heart of the recent successes of the Savojar team, most notably their Copa 31 victory where she had been the hero of the shootouts that carried the team to victory. She is known to use her height and agility to play as a reactive keeper who stays on the line and primarily advances in one on ones.

#2 Lars Jensen*
Position: LB // Age: 27 // Height: 179 cm // Club: CASK Thorsborg
Jensen is a strong tackler and hard to get past, often persistently marking his opponent even if he lost a duel and trying to fight his way back. Like all Savojar wingbacks, he is a fast player and an excellent crosser, meaning that he will often join the attack. This is a quality that Jurkanen actively selects for and we can expect to see many advances.

#3 Simon Omark*
Position: CB // Age: 29 // Height: 178 cm // Club: ASK Landsmark
Omark is a strategically smart and ball-secure modern CB. He will secure the ball and organise the game from the back. In the air, he suffers from his comparatively lower height, but he compensates it with speed and intelligence. His tackles are often very well-timed, although compared to other Savojar CBs he somewhat lacks aggressiveness.

#4 Joonas Andersson*
Position: DM // Age: 32 // Height: 187 cm // Club: Admiral Storevik
Andersson is the defensive anchor point of the Savojar midfield. He is not very fast, but has excellent judgment and tackling skills, making him the pivot of the defence. He will often drop back between the two CB's if Savojarna have the ball and secure the defence to allow the wingbacks to overlap. Also regularly drops back against wide teams, as he is taller than most CB's in the roster and can help with aerial defence.

#5 Matts Pedersen
Position: LB // Age: 22 // Height: 185 cm // Club: Tanrısal (PAS)
Pedersen is another fast, aggressive fullback who is extremely persistent, but joins the offence a bit more aggressively than Jensen. This leads to him being vulnerable to counters over the left side, where he might not be able to react in time if he was too advanced before. He has excellent 1v1 skills on both sides of the ball, but is a bit lacking in passing accuracy. The CR is his first tournament for the national team.

#6 Niklas Hoyberg*
Position: CM // Age: 27 // Height: 194 cm // Club: Dynamo Sjoedrhavn
Hoyman plays a regista role similar to Andrea Pirlo, organising the game from the back. His strength is a pinpoint accuracy in longer balls as well as a good eye, which means he will be distributing the balls to the front four or go up the pitch himself if he has space. He is also a very strong header, which means that he will often go up for standards. Hoyberg's biggest weakness is that he is often passed rather easily in defence, which is balanced by a defensively oriented midfielder next to him.

#7 Mikhail Jashkin*
Position: RF // Age: 22 // Height: 176 cm // Club: Farrenton Athletic (EUR)
A fast and technically gifted hybrid winger who is known for a deadly eye and his laser-like passes. While he has decent crossing skills, he tends to opt for a flat pass into the box or a dribbling instead, acting almost as a false nine that plays wide on the right. He is one of the most observed players on the team and his move to Eura two years ago has greatly helped him to develop further into the dominating forward he is today.

#8 Victoria Maersk
Position: CM // Age: 26 // Height: 157 cm // Club: North Sabrefell (NPH)
Maersk is a classical box-to-box allrounder who is strong in most tasks, besides her aerial inferiority due to height, and has a high stamina and speed. While not excelling at anything, she is considered a utility player that will probably see a lot of playtime in various positions and roles depending on the situation. Her future is unknown as she is in negotiation with multiple clubs following the integration of the men's and women's leagues and dissolution of her women's club.

#9 Arvid Jotansson
Position: ST // Age: 26 // Height: 192 cm // Club: Admiral Storevik
Jotansson can assume a more forward role or something akin to a false nine, but is more at home in the box. He is a tall, physical striker who is not particularly fast, but very hard to separate from the ball and has a strong shot as well as a good eye for his teammates. A likely substitution against defensive sides or in the final minutes, as he is also a good worker who is not shy to do defensive work.

#10 Jesper Groen
Position: LM // Age: 27 // Height: 182 cm // Club: ASK Landsmark
Groen is an unspectacular player who is mainly on the team to serve as a utility player when leads need to be defended. He is a conservative LM who runs a lot and has a very accurate cross, but is less likely to score himself. Thanks to a great sense of position and a willingness to work backwards, Groen gives the team more stability. He is playing his first Copa under Jurtanen, but previously played in the Men's NT.

#11 Freya Sigurdsdottir*
Position: ST // Age: 32 // Height: 193 cm // Club: ESK Storevik
At 193 cm, Freya Sigurdsdottir is the tallest striker of the Savojar squad. She is a box striker who likes to linger around the edge of the penalty area (or the enemy defence) and then use her speed to position herself in front of the goal for a rebound, cross or through pass. Expect her to score many goals especially against smaller opponents. Also known for extremely cold nerves, which is why she is a staple in the shootout.

#12 Thomas Larsen
Position: GK // Age: 26 // Height: 195 cm // Club: CASK Thorsborg
Considered almost equal to Petrova and one of the best goalies of Savojarna, but in her shadow due to Petrova's NT pedigree. Larsen is similar to Petrova, but considered a bit more athletic and more likely to assume control of his box. Especially at standards and in crossing situations, he likes to use his height to pluck the ball out of the sky.

#14 Lenka Otalainen
Position: OM // Age: 28 // Height: 168 cm // Club: Savojars Vinge Virkaja
Otalainen is a classical playmaker who has superb passing skills and can play both in the box and in the offensive half or on the wing, but is a bit weaker defensively. She is likely to play if the Savojars fall behind and is remarkable thanks to her extremely precise shots even from longer distances. In the past Women's League seasons, she scored many goals from far out thanks to this skill.

#18 Perttu Karjanen* -- [C]
Position: ST // Age: 32 // Height: 176 cm // Club: Partisan Sjoedrhavn
Karjanen is the polar opposite of his usual mate Sigurdsdottir, as he uses his speed and technique to make up for his lower height. He often drops back into the space between the defence and the midfield to wait for balls and play in a combi with either winger or with Sigurdsdottir. As a veteran player and captain of the team, he is considered extremely important for the mentality of the side as well.

#19 Krister Voynov*
Position: LF // Age: 24 // Height: 177 cm // Club: Admiral Storevik
Potentially the most exciting single player in the Savojar team, this fast and skilful winger is a constant threat. Voynov loves to swing inside to challenge an opposing defender directly and is extremely good in 1v1 situations. He also scores many goals with a strong and precise shot, and has accurate passing skills as well. His main weakness is a lack of defensive work, forcing the left side to cover for his roaming. Rumours about him changing to a top club after the Copa exist, but are unconfirmed.

#20 Linne Kjaer*
Position: CB // Age: 28 // Height: 182 cm // Club: Dynamo Sjoedrhavn
Similar to Omark, she is technically and positionally strong and knows what to do on the ball. Kjaer is somewhat slow but makes up for this mistake by knowing very well where to stand, and has a great skill in standing duels for the ball. Her tackles can be a bit shaky at times and may lead to mistakes or fouls, which is why she rarely resorts to them. Kjaer is also important as the organiser of the defence.

#21 Alexey Nurkanen*
Position: RB // Age: 27 // Height: 180 cm // Club: Libertas Bergheim
Nurkanen is very fast and a precise tackler, as well as having good judgment in building up plays. He often overlaps dangerously as well, having a great cross that can find the head of his teammates in the box. Nurkanen's stamina is lauded for often running up and down the line all day long, but he can sometimes be a bit out of the water when challenged in a fast counter due to his overlaps.

EXTENDED PLAYER POOL
These are the players that will be called up situationally and complete the team in case of injury or less highly rated opponents. They will be announced in RP if required, but if you want you can bring in any of them, as they are all on NT level.

Goalkeepers

#22 Aleksandra Virulainen
Position: GK // Age: 20 // Height: 181 cm // Club: Savojars Vinge Virkaja U21
The only player to not be signed to a professional team (although she is loaned out to the SFS2 team Union Roopere), Virulainen is not expected to play much. This goalkeeper uses a great awareness and control of the box to counter-act her comparatively lower height and has shown brilliant oversight. She is probably the best goalkeeper of the team when it comes to ball-on-foot skills, and many see her as Petrova's eventual successor. The second newcomer besides Pedersen.

Defenders

#13 Denis Metanov
Position: CB // Age: 33 // Height: 188 cm // Club: Lokomotive Jarnstad
#17 Sigurdur Arjonsson
Position: RB // Age: 27 // Height: 171 cm // Club: ESK Storevik
#23 Roman Forsberg
Position: CB // Age: 23 // Height: 188 cm // Club: Energie Thorsborg
#24 Flemming Skov
Position: RB // Age: 23 // Height: 186 cm // Club: Energie Thorsborg
#25 Bjarne Thorvaldsson
Position: LB // Age: 25 // Height: 180 cm // Club: Partisan Sjoedrhavn

Metanov is a more old-school back who is primarily defensive minded and has a safety-first style. If he gets to the ball, he often clears it far out or feeds it to the midfielders as soon as possible, and he is quite commonly committing fouls. Forsberg is another one of the Savojar ball-secure, modern CB's, but shows some nerves at times. His best skill is his heading, as he is a very strong jumper and tall player. He will often join the attack on standards. Skov is a younger version of Nurkanen, a fast and incredibly stamina-heavy player, with some deficits in physical strength; Arjonssonis the most defensive of all Savojar fullbacks, staying back often and being a very strong defender that is hard to get rid of. While his tackling and positional play is great, he is relatively slow and struggles against fast opponents. Finally, Thorvaldsson is a physically strong and defensively minded player with relatively high likelihood of fouls.

Midfielders

#15 Ville Mertonen
Position: RM // Age: 32 // Height: 184 cm // Club: Dynamo Novaya Russica
#16 Petteri Hytönen
Position: OM // Age: 34 // Height: 186 cm // Club: CASK Thorsborg
#26 Valentin Ljungberg
Position: DM // Age: 27 // Height: 185 cm // Club: Energie Thorsborg
#27 Victor Loeseth
Position: CM // Age: 23 // Height: 181 cm // Club: Dynamo Sjoedrhavn
#28 Morten Poulsen
Position: OM // Age: 22 // Height: 180 cm // Club: Partisan Sjoedrhavn
#29 Pal Traustason
Position: DM // Age: 27 // Height: 187 cm // Club: Keenan Athletic (COS)
#30 Paddi Gren
Position: OM // Age: 22 // Height: 177 cm // Club: ASK Landsmark
#34 Steinar Aarsoy
Position: LM // Age: 23 // Height: 179 cm // Club: Partisan Sjoedrhavn
#35 Ivan Grivoshenko
Position: RM // Age: 25 // Height: 182 cm // Club: Lokomotive Jarnstad

In central midfield, Savojarna’s extended pool contains two strong experienced midfielders in Ljungberg and Traustason. Pal Traustason has hovered around the edges in the national team for a while, and after the latest relegation of Odin Kjaershavn, his ancestral team, he took the plunge and went to Cosumar. Ljungberg is a defence-minded anchor who is comfortable distributing balls in a short range, but not a very creative player. He has received his first call-up following a very good first half of the season with Energie. Victor Loeseth was a core player of Savojarna’s youth teams and has been on the radar for a call-up to the big show for a while. He is an athletic box-to-box player who combines speed and strength, although there are players around with better technique. Hytönen is a national team veteran, but at age 34 and after a difficult season start with CASK the creative and attacking midfielder was relegated to the extended pool. He has some stamina issues, but a great eye and is a traditional playmaker that likes to sneak into the box occasionally. Paddi Gren played striker for a long time and was recently repurposed into a more creative midfielder role. He can also play as a MS and was included in the team after a strong showing with ASK. Finally, Poulsen is probably closest to being included in the core team, a creative player that has a large stamina and a good shot, but defensively lacks caution sometimes.

On the wing, Steinar Aarsoy played a convincing season with Partisan and was called up for the first time in response. He is a more traditional winger than the likes of Voynov, but has a good eye and is very fast. He also often passes back to the edge of the box or into the midfield if there is open space. Mertonen is a classical winger who often sticks a bit to the sidelines, but can play absolutely deadly crosses. He is defensively skilled, but has recently suffered from his age and decreasing speed in order to be a genuine two-way player. Finally, Grivoshenko is a fast winger who likes to cut inside and will score a few goals if he gets his chances. He has excellent technique, but is often a bit negligent in defence. A special threat because he can use both feet almost equally well.

Attackers

#31 Kristin Vindjammer
Position: LF // Age: 28 // Height: 173 cm // Club: Energie Thorsborg
#32 Simon Jacobsen
Position: ST // Age: 21 // Height: 179 cm // Club: Partisan Sjoedrhavn
#33 Markus Mellin
Position: RF // Age: 27 // Height: 187 cm // Club: FK Torpedo Pawlograd
#36 Dominik Ryberg
Position: ST // Age: 33 // Height: 198 cm // Club: ASK Landsmark

Vindjammer and Mellin have been called up the first time after a good season in their respective teams. Both are hybrid wingers, aiming for the goal more than for the cross, and can also be used in a striker position. Vindjammer is a fast player with spectacular technique to make up for her lacking physique, and often can create gaps with her fast dribbles. Mellin is a more physical player, with a strong body and breaking through the lines. He also likes using his height to position himself at the far post. The two strikers, Jacobsen and Ryberg, have both been in the national team system for a while. Jacobsen has participated in two Di Bradini cups and proved himself to be a dangerous joker for Partisan. He is fast and often comes in from the back, working best together with a focal point striker that can feed him dangerous balls. Ryberg had been a part of the male national team back when it was a thing, but lost his place to Sigurdsdottir. He fills a similar role, as he is a tall and lurking striker.

STARTING XI:

Image

Note: Krister Voynov is injured until at least Matchday 4 following an injury sustained in the SFS. He will be replaced by Jesper Groen in the first matches, unless indicated otherwise.

TACTICS

STYLE: +1.7

The new Savojar style is very fluid, based on the 4-2-2-2 and a lot of movement between the positions. Both strikers can play on the wing or as playmakers as well (although Karjanen is better at it than Sigurdsdottir), and the wingers are good strikers and scorers. They often share playmaking duties with Nick Hoyman, who advances when Savojarna have the ball, transforming the formation into something akin to a 4-4-2 diamond. In offence, the team operates a lot with through passes or crossings towards their tall forwards. In defence, the Savojars play an aggressive pressing, often devolving into a hard man-to-man marking style in their own half. They play very physical and are in top condition when it comes to both speed and strength, as Savojar football often emphasises physical capability over technical finesse.

The adjective is Savojar; Savojarnan is not a word!
I am a student of (European) politics, ice hockey fan, left-wing communist bordering on anarchy, and European federalist. Enjoy!

WC Squad Announced

Image

by The Editors

After a disappointing and frankly frustrating AOCAF Cup for the Red Wolves, Bekir Altingunes has made some changes to his squad selection, with it being clear that the players he brought in were not fit for purpose and didn't gel well with the other personalities on the team. There are some returning faces to the squad as well as a couple of new ones, fresh from the Super League who have got a couple of seasons experience under ther belts. Bekir Altingunes will be on the hot seat due to the poor performance in the AOCAF Cup, but given this is only the Red Wolves' second entry into the World Cup, the Football Federation are rumoured to be in a forgiving mood with relation to that performance especially due to the team's overachievement in other competitions.

The kits will now be familiar to many, but in case people have forgotten our home, away and goalkeepers kits respectively:

Image

Alongside side this, we have once again analysed the key staff and the players that they will be hoping to make a deep run into the competition with:

Coaching Staff:

Manager: Bekir Altingunes
Age: 46
Bio: Bekir Altingunes whose star was once considered to be rising may have found himself on the hot seat for this qualification period, the former disgraced Agriculture Minister has carved out a reputation for being a player's manager and an astute media performer, though this has taken a knock with the AOCAF Cup debacle. From a strong Baptism of Fire, to a surprising showing in the World Cup Qualifiers, to a mixed yet impressive campaign in the Cup of Harmony, he as shown that he is able to take the talent at his disposal and get it to go further than anyone could have imagined, even if there have been growing pains. He is known to favour the 4-2-3-1 formation with an attacking outlook that has left an often disorganised and overmatched defence exposed. His challenge now is to show that the AOCAF was the exception not the rule and that even if he doesn't get a grip on the defensive issues plaguing the team that he can still find a way to win. He will also be boosted by the fact that the Football Federation has decided to give him a six year extension, though there will be very little incentive to keep him if he flounders with a clause to allow the federation to remove him without compensation.

Assistant Manager: Senol Tarimcioglu
Age: 61
Bio: A statistician turned Director of Football at Hisar, he has turned out to be an essential part of Bekir's staff, with his personnel insights proving invaluable in providing the national team with the best talent available despite a severe lack of sample size. An often underrated element of his role is the tactical insights he provides the manager during the matches with several of the best substitutions and tactical shifts being accredited to him by the manager. While his age is certainly advanced he has not indicated at all that he'd look to leave either his club or his national team role and is said to be on the pushing hard for staff to be hired as the national team seeks to expand its operation.

Goalkeeping Coach: Hasan Kocaeli
Age: 41
Bio: The former national team goalkeeper and current Devlet-Bira Fabrika Takimi player has been asked to lend his expertise to the national team and offer specialised training to the three goalkeepers in the squad. His excellent performances in the Super League as well as his time as third goalkeeper where he effectively fulfilled the role he is currently filling will stand him in good stead as he begins his coaching career.

Players:

Goalkeepers:

1. Murat Yigithan (Uryanspor) Caps: 3
Age: 27
Positions: GK
Bio: Murat Yigithan put in three very good performances when he made it on the field, this combined with his very good league performances has meant that Bekir Altingunes has put his faith in the goalkeeper. The former lumberjack will be given the chance to cement and claim his place as the starting goalkeeper, well known for his professionalism and hard working attitude the national team will be hoping that he can manage the defence of the team and provide the quality goalkeeping that team has at times lacked.

12. Saban Inekci (Hisar FK) Caps: 14
Age: 30
Positions: GK
Bio: The former incumbent as the starting goalkeeper has had his share of struggles, often failing to gel with the defence put in front of him and plagued by unforced errors. He hasn't been helped by his defence as much as he deserved and in Bekir Altingunes' quest to strike the right formula on the defensive side of the ball he has been relegated to the bench seemingly permanently, but will be a solid if uninspiring option should the worst befall Murat Yigithan.

23. Iskender Nur (Altin Akademisi) Caps: 18
Age: 20
Positions: GK
Bio: With the freshening of the squad, Iskender Nur represents something of a known commodity among the younger players in the squad, but he has been listed as the third goalkeeper. His predecessor as the starting goalkeeper is currently listed ahead of him while Murat Yigithan sits as the incumbent starting goalkeeper. That being said he has shown that he's more than capable of marshaling the defence and providing excellent shot-stopping.

Defenders:

2.Ozbek Sarikaya (Bassabook Old Boys (ZWZ)) Caps: 26 Goals: 0
Age: 32
Positions: DL
Bio: After a brief attempt to look elsewhere for a left back, Bekir Altingunes has returned to his old favourite Ozbek Sarikaya. He has left the Super League after being relegated to the bench in favour of playing abroad for Bassabook Old Boys in Zwangzug. He has always been a consistent and solid player for the national team providing a helpful anchor in an often troubled defence.

3. Eyup Mustafa (Almat JK) Caps: 25 Goals: 0
Positions: DC, DR
Age: 28
Bio: Capable of playing both as a full back and a centre back, as the more technically gifted of the centre backs he will be lining up on the left side of the pairing. He has found little in the way of stability in terms of who his partner is at international level, but he has almost never played seriously below par when the rest of the defence is clicking.

4. Metin Boz (Uryanspor) Caps: 18 Goals: 0
Positions: DC
Age: 30
Bio: Having occasionally taken a starting position as well as being a priority substitute, he might feel like a player whose time has finally come, being trusted with a starting role despite being somewhat unfairly overlooked b the management. That being said even if he is unhappy, he has never given the coaching staff any reason to doubt him and his experience at club level as captain of Uryanspor means his presence on the training field is almost always positive and he will provide critical secondary leadership if called upon.

5. Gokdeniz Dag (VC) (Uryanspor) Caps: 32 Goals: 0
Positions: DR
Age: 25
Bio: A regular and solid performer for the national team he will welcome the return of his good friend and former teammate Ozbek Sarikaya on the opposite flank, however known to be a professional and positive influence across the squad he will be relied upon to provide more of the same solid play that has lead him to be the first name on the teamsheet almost every match at both international and club level. He will be looking to bounce back from a difficult AOCAF as will a lot of the rest of the team.

13. Osman Hasanoglu (Sariirmakspor) Caps: 22 Goals: 1
Positions: DC
Age: 31
Bio: Having been a part of some of the most suspect performances by the Red Wolves defence, he has remained on the bench after (perhaps unfairly) being considered the source of a lot of those problems. He remains on the squad as he can bring a physical presence that is capable of seeing out matches, but it's very clear his star has faded in the mind of Bekir Altingunes and looks to have continued to fade, despite this there's still reported to be a lot of respect from the coaching staff to him.

15. Berker Balkan (Uryanspor) Caps: 0 Goals: 0
Positions: DC
Age: 20
Bio: The young centre back impressed at the Di Bradini Cup, he was able to smother opposition attackers both at that competition and his first two seasons in the Super League. He is unlikely to see very much playing time during these qualifiers, but his presence on the team shows that Bekir Altingunes intends to see his tenure continue beyond his contract.

18. Beyhan Enver (Almat JK) Caps: 15 Goals: 0
Positions: DL, DR
Age: 26
Bio: A versatile player able to play in both full back positions, he may have been held back by his versatility which makes him an invaluable asset from the bench. Slightly more athletic than either of the incumbents starting in the position and technical enough that he can contribute to a positive passing game, he provides a lot of value from the bench and will be looking to show a little more than he did during the AOCAF as he failed to take his opportunities as the team struggled as a whole.

20. Yildiray Sabuktiginoglu (Kilicspor) Caps: 8 Goals: 0
Positions: DC, DL, DR
Age: 26
Bio: A gritty, determined player who has not seen very much of the field for the national team, but has shown large amounts of leadership and flashes of quality as he's played across all defensive positions at club level. Yet another player whose versatility has held them back, Yildiray is the ultimate depth player, a jack of all trades defender who prefers to sit as a centre back but is almost better in the full back positions which he doesn't specialise in.

Midfielders:

6. Atilla Acar (Demirspor) Caps: 29 Goals: 2
Positions: MC
Age: 27
Bio: Easily recognisable with his long flowing black hair and long beard, both of which flow as he endlessly runs up and down the pitch in the role of a box-to-box midfielder. Very capable of delivering pin point passes over long distances, he was an athletic player in a team that often lacks it, though he occasionally had a habit of disappearing from matches, but overall is a positive part of the team.

7. Tekin Yavuz (Devlet-Bira Fabrika Takimi) Caps: 14 Goals: 1
Positions: AMR, AML, AMC
Age: 32
Bio: Tekin Yavuz makes his return to the national team after resurrecting his career and putting in some amazing performances at club level for DBFT, who have been a surprise package in the Super League. He has brought the team to life and is currently their top scorer from midfield. He will be relied upon to work well with either full back as he and Caner Turan have been given the freedom to switch sides as they see fit. Bekir is hoping that his club form translates to the national team.

8.Yusuf Ihsanoglu (Hisar FK) Caps: 29 Goals: 2
Positions: MC, DM
Age: 30
Bio: A defensive midfielder who has featured prominently for the national team, he has found himself back in the starting XI after Bekir's attempt at refreshing the midfield backfired and Yusuf showed his usually poise combined with his grit that clearly showed Bekir what he needed to see. Likely to be a very strong performer in this system no matter who is alongside him, having shown his ability to adapt to various partners in midfield. He specialises in providing a screen for the defenders.

9. Caner Turan (Tashkentspor) Caps: 30 Goals: 9
Positions: AML, AMR
Age: 23
Bio: Considered the most gifted player on the team, he is a two footed winger who operates both as an inside forward and as a traditional winger. He and his new partner on the opposite flank will be able to switch freely if they find themselves unable to breakthrough against their particular opposite number, indicating Altingunes' confidence in his attackers. He is said to be agitating for a move abroad and these qualifiers will give him an excellent chance to bring himself to the attention of those who may be interested.

10. Ertan Renda (C) (Elektriklestirmespor) Caps: 32 Goals: 13
Positions: AMC, MC
Age: 28
Bio: The diminutive, often lethargic looking player always takes opposition players by surprise. He isn't particularly fast, nor is he especially technically gifted and he doesn't really show any particular flair in general open play, but he's shown flashes of brilliance and genius throughout his international career and his career at club level. He is a very technical player who shows that his main talent is getting the job done. His determination makes him a valuable asset in such an intense and high pressing system.

16. Metin Aytacoglu (Tashkentspor) Caps: 7 Goals: 1
Positions: AMC
Age: 26
Bio: Metin showed himself to be a talented and capable player when he was called upon in relief of Ertan Renda, while he isn't likely to see a lot of action the team can be assured there is a solid backup option. While a more naturally gifted footballer than Ertan, he finds himself on the bench in favour of the Altingunes' preferred attacking midfielder.

17. Oztekin Timur (Almat JK) Caps: 0 Goals: 0
Positions: DM, MC
Age: 25
Bio: A tough bruising no nonsense defensive midfielder who is able to walk the line between getting yellow and red cards and simply being robust with his opposition. He will be the likely stand in for Yusuf should anything happen to him, though he's known to sit a little deeper by preference and it will take time for him to get acclimated to Altingunes' system.

19. Tayyar Ozel (Demirspor) Caps: 31 Goals: 8
Positions: AML, AMR, AMC
Age: 29
Bio: Tayyar has found himself on the bench after several performances where he found himself rather invisible on the pitch. While he was dutiful in his defensive obligations, he often found himself unable to make a significant mark in several matches. His versatility means he's an excellent option off the bench, while he struggles to make impacts when he starts matches, perhaps being a change of pace substitute will allow him to flourish.

21. Altan Seyfi (Tashkentspor) Caps:0 Goals: 0
Positions: MC
Age: 20
Bio: The young midfielder has really come into his own since impressing in the DBC, he was even the subject of a bid from abroad, but he opted to stay in Timuria for his formative years and play for Tashkentspor, his hometown team. He has gotten into the habit of scoring important - and impressive - goals often from long range so expect him to feature late in close matches to see if he can provide the spark that the team may need on occasion. Otherwise he will bbe expected to be the stand in for Atilla Acar.

Attackers:

11. Vatan Ercetin (Jinja City FC (BNJ)) Caps: 30 Goals: 23
Positions: ST, AMC
Age: 24
Bio: The prolific striker has found himself struggling a little for the national team by his usually excellent standards, but he will look to recapture the form that earned him a move to Jinja City in Banija for a large sum of money for a Timurian player. He plays the role of an attacking midfielder at club level, but will be leading the line for the national team ahead of Ertan Renda. He will be hoping that his time in a higher quality league will have allowed him to refine his abilities and make him more deadly.

14. Ismail Burhan (Manat FK) Caps: 14 Goals: 10
Positions: ST
Age: 25
Bio: Having provided decent cover for Vatan in the Cup of Harmony and generally playing well in the Super League, Ismail is likely a little frustrated at his place on the bench. He's always been a model substitute for the team, willing to put 100% in no matter how long he's on the pitch for. A more complete striker than Vatan, if he is called upon it will likely be in a transition to a 2 striker tactic or if Vatan is forced to step back into the number 10 role.

22. Kartal Unal (Demirspor) Caps: 0 Goals: 0
Positions: ST
Age: 23
Bio: A relative unknown a few years ago, Kartal was actually Vatan's understudy at Demirspor, now he's one of the starting strikers and has been almost as prolific as Vatan. A pure poacher/advanced forward, he will be biding his time to strike from the bench when his name is called and he is more than capable of scoring excellent goals no matter how long he's on the pitch. He may struggle with the demands of the international game for a while, but that makes his placement as the third choice all the more wise from the management.

About The Nation

Mkabia is a small, coastal nation which comes out of a series of devastating civil wars. The economy is tattered and the sense of unity damaged but the lust for football hasn’t lessened - or even the contrary. This spring, the national competition took off with the first edition of the Coupe, a tournament which allowed the best players to showcase themselves for a selection. It got the crowd on their feet and gave a first sense of national pride, something which only ameliorates the pressure on these twenty-three men. On top of that, the military government starts to harbour an interest in this group, an additional ingredient in a spicy cocktail.

About The National Team

The Leopards make their debut and will do their utter best to be the dark horse in these affairs. Any rational observer, however, can see that this is a group which has never played together before and had been on opposing sides for most of their careers - or even lives. Especially the rivalry between the core from Dragons, undoubtedly the strongest side in the nation, and Stade Djalenga, a fierce opponent of this block, could play its part. It’s up to the manager to turn them into a single unit which can stand the level of international football, not a task to be taken lightly, especially as rational observers could be rare amongst the Mkabians.

About The Manager

Speaking of which, the ungrateful job has fallen to Tidjani Kabirou - quite a surprising name picked by the national FA, an organ already infiltrated by anyone who could make some sort of profit out of it. Whose puppet Kabirou is exactly, that’s something the jury is still out on. Fact is that the grizzled military veteran has meagre experience in football but an extensive knowledge of the inroads and debates. For the tactical prowess, we might rather look to his assistant and number cruncher Kei Tankary, but that’s just our opinion.

About The Tactics

All the delights of Mkabian football seem to have been rolled into this selection, but so have all weaknesses, at first sight. Playing in an adventurous 4-3-3 and a fashion which some analysts would call a +2 style modifier, Mkabia is eager to make the nets tremble and has the attacking depth to do so. Selecting the pivotal man up front forms the debate of the nation with two great candidates. Both Akakpo and Diaware combine speed, football intelligence and a nose for goals, although the latter seems to have the edge for Kabirou over his age. Fact is that both superstars (for Mkabians, at least) will do their utter best to run up the score compared to their adversary. The attentive eye might spot Fodé Siry in the selection as well, a targetman accustomed to playing with Diawara and an interesting alternative over the less powerful duo mentioned before.

On the left wing, there are similarly different tactical cards to play. Expected starter Aduama plays closer to the goal and can tally some goals as well with his impressive shooting power whilst Assanté sticks to the wing and whips those crosses in. Both, however, exceed the possibilities on the right side of the pitch where Nibombe got himself a spot. On a national level, he’s definitely worth a thing or two but many doubt whether he’ll stand the test against bigger opponents.

The midfield, in national fashion, has quite some talent gathered but no one can tell whether it will click or fall apart. Linchpin Mamadou Zongo is a short, creative player with an amazing through pass and quick feet, but we’re curious if he can’t get bullied out of games. His alternative, veteran Baio is his spitting image, so that leaves little options - pun intended. Hopefully they find that space for their magic as the strikers and industrious box-to-box Zakaria Mlapa hope to show their infiltrations. Omar Bamogo is a decent midfielder but won’t speed up the game.

The back four is an Achilles’ heel, even despite the presence of the towering Salim Sankaré behind them. His safe hands, natural leadership and calmth will have to steer the ship in defence is it is doubtable someone else will pick up that task. Moutari and Ayité are not necessarily poor defenders, but lack the experience to steer the ship and the same can definitely be said about Kouyaté. He’s a talent, no doubt about it, unmatched to this level. Denké Sesay carries the ribbon on the left back but is a player with infiltrations, not the organiser of the back four. Don’t get us started about the bench. Just don’t.

About The Stadium and Fans

The River Stadium in Djalenga, home to Stade Djalenga during the year, will be the home of the Leopards during this campaign. With a little over twenty thousand seats, all suffering from the wear and tear of a roofless place during the rainy season, it has an interesting atmosphere with the spectators sitting nearly on the pitch. That is, the part that is actually sitting. In practice, often nearly thirty thousand are crammed into the place and in some blocks, the seats have simply been deconstructed by the hardcore fans to make more standing room. If the fans of the national team follow the rationale of their club counterparts, expect to see a lot of music in the stands - if the opposition is not blasted away by the noise, it’s not a true following.

Mkabia fans will be vocal and passionate, but are on average appreciative of travelling fans - especially in this case as the interregional frictions are unknown to the foreign world and often because they are rare. For your supporters, a trip to Mkabia might be quite the adventure as only few planes are flying into Garo International (the only public transport airport open at the moment) and the bus trips from Garo to Djalenga are… Notorious. However, if they show they come for their passion for the game, they’ll be given some advantages by locals - as long as they don’t mock the Leopards, that is.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers: Sure
Godmod scoring events: Make it funny or original.
RP injuries to my players: Yeah, but nothing career-threatening.
Godmod injuries to my players: Like, really funny.
Hand out yellow cards to my players: Sure.
Hand out red cards to my players: Sure.
Pick my starting eleven: Within limits. Some minor alterations with the eleven listed above or outlined in RP is ok.
Godmod other events: Yes, but shoot a TG please.

About the Filindostan Football Federation

The Filindostan Football Federation (FFF) was founded after they split from the Filindostani National Sports Commission (FNSC), citing the FNSC's tainted image during the Multiverse Boxing.ccanization boxing tournament and the budget cut the agency suffered. The newly-established federation caters to the nation's footballing affairs and sanctions the selection of the senior, under-21 and under-15 squads. The FNSC will remain the agency for fielding other national football teams that are not sanctioned by the FFF.

The FFF's headquarters are located in San Marco, Filindostan, and is headed by Estrelitta "Estie" Barzagia.

Playing Squad

In Filindostan, people are often called by their nickname. Some players opt to put their nickname instead of the customary last name in their kits. The shirt names for the squad are noted by ALL CAPS. So for example, Alexander Jampang's shirt name in his kit is ALEX JAMPANG. Likewise Antonio Rafael Vera will have his kit name as TONYO.

After Ethel Toh took over the managerial duties, she ordered the change in kit names, bearing the surname of the player and the initials. For example, before the Toh era, Cahya Kartawijaya had her kit name as 'CAHYA', but during the Toh era, it is currently 'C.S. KARTAWIJAYA'. New manager Xavier Rinoso looks to keep the new trend moving forward, with one exception - singular names will be kept singular (e.g. Dwi, Sutikno, Siharto, etc.)

The following players are called up into the national team for the tournament.

The exile of several players under the Ethel Toh regime is over. Several key players return, as most of the players played under Toh kept their spot in the squad, though the only spot which was in need of a revamp was the central midfield. Bar Mordecai, other players slightly disappointed, and the return of the trio of King, Yakob, and Mohd Safri will help them rediscover the form they sorely missed during the period.

A problem that was evident was the lack of clean sheet in the entire qualification process. They only managed to record 2 clean sheets all season, and despite this, Rinoso decided to keep Abram and Cahya and call up only one of Gerry and Tonyo - the manager decided to pick the former for experience, and he will lean on the Perokojak keeper to restore the defensive confidence they somehow lost during their campaign.

The Filindostani Empress of Defence, Dina Satyawan, is rumored to announce her international retirement at the end of the tournament, and it would be a good opportunity for her to end her international campaign on a high with the Cup of Harmony winners's medal hoping to be included in her medal case with the Baptism of Fire winner's medal.

Goals was not a problem this season, though he might prefer the girl power partnership of Yish and Ina over the Perokojak partnership, which he may deploy in some of the matches in the tournament.

Filindostan National Stadium
Location: San Marco, Kabishawan, Filindostan
Capacity: 70,000
Details: The national stadium of Filindostan. Built on the former site of the Kabishawan Islandic Stadium, the state of the art facility with the latest amenities will be the new home of Filindostani football, as the ground will host the team's high profile matches, as well as the Filindostan Cup finals and UCAAF finals. The first match in the stadium saw the Mercedini Under-18 team win in penalties against the Gallian Union Under-18 in the SWC4 final.

Kits
Image

Local kit supplier, No Nonsense, provides the kits for the Pula Garuda. The kits will be used until the World Cup 82 season, where they are expected to switch to a new kit manufacturer. They have used the current kits from their debut in the Baptism of Fire tournament which they won. The home kits are clad in red and are usually paired with black shorts and white socks. For color clashes in shorts and socks, they use their all red kit. Their alternate kit is white, usually with red shorts and socks, but can be black shorts and white socks in case of color clashes. The goalie kit is all black (or in black shorts and socks), but in case of color clashes, a yellow version of the GK kit is available.

Team RP and Permissions
The below information will help teams RP against my team in case they RP first.

Lineups
After Twilight Striker's departure, Caretaker manager Ethel Toh preferred the old school 4-4-2 formation, though she sometimes adjusted the formation of the lineup to a 4-3-1-2 or a 4-1-3-2. She believes in the philosophy of a back four. Incoming manager Xavier Rinoso sees the benefit of the changes as they put up 11 wins during their campaign, though he is not afraid of mixing it up to a usual 3-5-2 or a 3-4-3.

Play Style
The play style of the team is of a more attacking lineup, looking to score more goal scoring opportunities. The team usually utilize pacey wingers to deliver dangerous balls to the penalty box, usually during coordinated attacks. Filindostani players are usually physical, especially the defenders. Cautions are mostly common due to their physical plays.

Fans
Filindostani fans are double-edged swords - sometimes they are most passionate fans in Filindostan, sometimes, they can be compared to the worst of internet trolls. Around five thousand diehard fans will travel to the host nation to watch their team play - but they usually bring their megaphones and flares with them - they somehow make it past the guards. Some fans are crazy enough to invade the pitch and cause match delays.

Republic of Port Ember:
National Football Team
World Cup 84 Cycle

The Republic of Port Ember returns for their second World Cup Cycle!

Team History

The Port Emberian Football Team is unique in its history and situation compared to other nations. Due to the fact that Port Ember has not yet competed on the international level in football prior to the World Cup 83 Cycle, the Port Ember Football Association (PEFA) made a controversial decision by not picking established club players for the first international team.

Instead, a Youth Program was launched, forming a large group of school children from the age of 14, whom underwent a 4 year training regimen under the tutorship of renowned international coaching staff. Four years later and the result was a young passionate team trained to international standards, instead of the internationally untested Port Emberian methods.

The aim of this enthuisiastic program was twofold:

- Create from scratch a young, energetic and passionate team to international standards, uninfluenced by the decaying and untested Port Emberian football standards, allowing them to grow in the intetnational scene, for many years to come due to their young age, maintaining consistency, team spirit and constant growth and development.

- Allow these young players to form part of the national clubs after their initial training and baptised world tournaments, allowing their experience and skills rub off on the new local talent, which in turn will transform the entire football industry for Port Ember in the long term.

Team History - World Cup 83 Cycle

The first ever international Port Emberian team entered the spot light as they were finally ready to face the world, in time for the World Cup 83 Cycle.

They entered their first ever international tournament - the Baptism of Fire 70 tournament, and reached third place overall.

They continued to partake in a gruelling qualifier run, but failed to qualify for the World Cup. They did however make a name for thenselves as they were invited to partake in the Cup of Harmony 75 tournament.

The Cup of Harmony 75 saw Port Ember struggle to snatch victories, drawing most of their matches, but they did make it to the quarterfinals before being knocked from the league.

They team has managed to build a massive and passionate supporter base during the cycle and have brought massive support to the sport as a whole within Port Ember.

Team History - Aftermath of the World Cup 83 Cycle

Once the Cycle was concluded the players were allowed to be bought by the local Port Ember Premier Football League Clubs, whom then continued ploughing back and shared their skills and experience with other young players, increasing the number of talented players within the nation. Bolstered with the 'Returning Hero's', the Port Emberian Premier league had its greatest season in its history, with thousands of new players and fans flocking towards the stadiums - rocking the very foundation of football in Port Ember.

Team History - Leadup to the World Cup 84 Cycle

After an extremely exciting, successfull and profitable Premier League Season, PEFA invited scores of potentiol players to its first ever Selection Camp, nicknamed the Tendaro Infero (Camp Hell). Aftee a very successfull and promising camp, the National Team was chosen.

Backroom Staff

Team Manager: Stuart Baker.

Stuart Baker is appointed as the Team Manager / Head Coach, who was in charge of the Youth Program since its inception, and led the young team during the World Cup 83 Cycle. Before this appointment, he was the national coach for Braziliztan for 4 years, which is now a colony of Port Ember. He is passionate about the sport and even more so about his young team, refering to them as "his kids". He was critized by the media during the Baptism of Fire 70 Tournament for his perceived arrogance during Pre-Match Interviews, however he did apologise for this and appeared more humble during the remaining cycle. He was praised alongside his staff and team to have ushered in a 'Social Revolution' which have caused the birth of Football Passion within Port Ember.

Assistant Head Coach: Connor Davies.

Connor Davies worked as the assistant head coach for Braziliztan for four years under Coach Stuart Baker, before moving over to the Port Ember Youth Program alongside Stuart Baker. He is a very technical coach, regarding the sport as a science instead of a sport. During the World Cup 83 Cycle, the importance of bench players was realised, therefore Connor focuses mainly on developing the bench players during training days, while still filfulling his traditional assistant coach duties.

Defensive Coach: Daryl House.

Daryl House was the previous Head Coach of the Port Emberian club 'Waterstad Pirates', (prior to PE turning international), before joining the youth program in 2014. Before the commencement of the World Cup 83 Cycle, many sports publications praised his technical knowledge as a defensive coach, and many believed he was in line to become the next possible future head coach, due to his keen eye and attention to detail. However as Port Ember's defence has beem criticised as being the weaklink of the team, this is no longer the case. In fact many has openly questioned why he was not replaced for the upcoming World Cup Cycle.

Attacking Coach: George SinClaire.

George was the previous Head Coach of the Port Emberian club 'Gold Coast Raiders', (prior to the World Cup 83 Cycle), before joining the youth program in 2014. Many sports publications have praised his technical knowledge as a attacking coach, and is well known for his passion and short temper, on and off the training field, regularly landing him in trouble with the law.

Goalkeeping Coach: Jonathan Peters.

Jonathan was the previous Head Goalkeeper (player) of the Port Emberian club 'Gold Coast Raiders', before joining the youth program in 2014. Many sports publications have praised his newly found talent as a coach instead of a player, allowing his students to gain valuable skills. He has received much acclaim due to the great performance that the team's goalkeepers have displayed in the World Cup 83 Cycle.

Fitness Coach: Neil Strauss.

Neil Strauss was a former Mixed Martial Arts Sensei who have trained a dozen champions before joining the youth program in 2014. Many sports publications have praised his vast knowledge regarding human physiology, which he uses to optimise the fitness levels of his players, to almost miracle like levels. The Port Emberian side was clearly one of the fittest teams in the World Cup 83 cycle, and Neil has received much acclaim for it. He is the 'Most wanted for an interview' in the fitness media at the moment.

Team Doctor: Dr Toby Curtiss.

Doctor Curtiss is a qualified medical doctor who specialises in sports injuries. He has vast medical experience, which he gained as a truama surgeon during his service with the Port Emberian Special Forces. He is well known as a brilliant doctor and as a 'no nonsense hardass' when it comes to his work.

Massage Therapist: Sally Jones.

Sally Jones is a young and passionate massuese who is well known for posessing 'Magical Hands'. She has been with the team since the inception of the youth program and have been with the team during the World Cup 83 Cycle, keeping the players fresh and ready for their games on such a tight schedule.

Physiotherapist: Dr Jolene Michels.

Dr Michels is an experienced Physiotherapist known to be extremely caring of the players in the teams, sometimes described as a 'real life empath'. She owned her own practice before joining the youth program at its inception. She worked hard during the World Cup 83 Cycle to ensure her players did not succumb from minor injuries, and kept them fit and healthy.

Caps: 0
Goals: 0

This player is a newcomer to the National Team, as he did not form part of the Youth Program, or partook in the World Cup 83 Cycle. He was chosen to replace Steve Rogers in this position due to Steve's knee injury obtained during the Premier League. Many in the media has questioned why this untested player was chosen to start, as the available bench players - Fraser Murray and John Swift has more experience. This young talent however did manage to make a good name for himself during the Premier League and quickly became a fan favourite. He has proven to be a strong and fast player, excelling well in the midfield. He is good at pressuring his opponents, competent at stealing the ball, and has a good eye to open gaps for his strikers. Interesting to note is that he is a Half Selkie (Selkie Father, Port Emberian Mother), but born in Port Ember. This has made him a bit of an outsider and not a very social person. His great skills and talent compsensates well for this however.

Team Tactics

Prefered Formation: 4-4-2

Style Modifier: +3

The team has quite an unique playstyle, reflecting much on the genetics of the average Port Emberian. They prefer a fast, aggressive and hard game, playing to their benefits of being a athletic and powerfull race.

Their 'Signature Play' is an interesting one, which can almost be seen as a gamble. A possibly effective gamble however. They would bait the opposition to push far ahead to their goal area hard, to lure most opponent players into their half of the field. Thereafter the strong and aggressive defence would steal the possession from the opponents, and powerfully kick the ball deep to the other side of the field, where the Port Emberian strikers would use their athletisicm to chase down the ball in a counter attack, outrunning the majority of the opponents, and pushing hard until a goal is scored. It is due to this playstyle that the local sportswires have dubbed it a "Aggressive Counter Attack Style".

World Ranking:
eugh
Preferred Formation: 4-4-2
Secondary Formation: 4-3-3
Style Modifier: 0
Home Stadium: The Farham Arena in Sabrefell is reserved for the biggest games, but Nephara is a large enough country that it spreads its matches across the nation.
Kit Supplier: ediraf
Nickname: The Cormorants

And so the Cormorants enter what is approximately their seven hundredth transitional phase of the past twenty years. Expectations might be low on paper, but in practice, the fans will still be expecting a win in almost every game. Strauss has offered plenty of bright spots, but she's also responsible for the worst World Cup performance in Nepharim history. So. Suffice to say, the pressure is on.

Tactics
Image
As always, the Cormorants play hard and physical on the defensive and quick, broad and ruthless on the attack, especially loving to absorb pressure and hit on the break. Set pieces are also something of a specialty. They usually press hard and try and wear out the opponent, but are willing to sit back if they need to preserve a lead. The fullbacks are expected to overlap with their wingers and provide much of the team's width. The strikers - mostly, anyway - are all very physical and very capable of finishing, pressing high as the first defenders but also striving to get on the end of chances and to finish what the midfield starts. Nepharim play rough, some might even say dirty - but at least it's always honest, and outright cheating isn't tolerated culturally. Well, not unless it wins a REALLY important match.

The Godhead
For home matches, and during international tournaments, Nephara wheels out the 'Godhead', a giant boulder with an eerie resemblance to Gethin Ramsey, first manager of the Cormorants in the modern era and by now long dead. Nepharim have a superstitious streak, and while nobody's saying it is, in fact, the mystic reincarnation of their most iconic leader, nobody's quite not saying it, either. The Godhead is traditionally 'walked' to the stadium by Nepharim ultras using an intricate series of ropes, and often a flare is wedged into its 'mouth' to simulate a smoking cigar.

Staff
Manager - Daniella Strauss - Age 48
Assistant Manager - Monica Brightwater - Age 60
A former striker, Strauss has never done it at a truly big club - but then, the obvious candidates tend to fail for Nephara. Strauss turned a terrible Corvette side into a credible Premiership outfit for a time, and started to revitalise Southfell United before the Cormorants came calling. Unusually for Nepharim, she likes to keep ahold of the ball, but likes to play quick, aggressive football, with a high line choking the opposition. Monica Brightwater has experienced the Peter Principle first-hand, having managed Treason and Eastweald and failed at both. Even so, she offers a steady hand at the tiller to help Strauss implement her philosophy.

Goalkeepers
Core
1 - GK - Hesterine Mercator (Image Eastweald) - Age 28 - 43 caps, 20 clean sheets
Narrow-shouldered and rather horse-faced, Mercator carries the hopes of Nephara's future. She's outspoken on and off the pitch, unafraid to give referees and defenders alike a piece of her mind. A sharp, acrobatic shot-stopper, a little weak in the air.

12 - GK - Sigurd Rustwyth (Image AFC Hosingr) - Age 28 - 3 caps
Rustwyth was meant to be the next big thing, but who can ever tell with goalkeepers? A long-boned, angular shot-stopper, powerful in the air and with unerring long distribution on his side, Rustwyth just couldn't break through at the Stags, but his career has been revitalised in Qusmo.

20 - GK - Fasolt Senninger (Image Creed United) - Age 23 - 3 caps, 1 clean sheet
Another former Stags backup who had to leave for fresh air, Senninger combines the physique of a shaved bear with balletic reflexes. An excellent, graceful shot-stopper, but lacking in the finer things.

Defenders
2 - RB - Rovena Stride (Image AFC Treason) - Age 21 - 9 caps, 1 goal
Stride's surname is apt. She's fast; very fast. She's still raw, and still occasionally slips up in her duties, but she tries to just do the simple things. Just, does all of them at once, racing upfield for overlapping runs to lash in raking low crosses, before tracking back at full speed to put in a crunching sliding tackle.

3 - LB - Marcin Close (Image Brinemouth, c) - Age 27 - 65 caps, 2 goals
An athletic fullback who has boundless energy, constantly chasing up the flank and tracking back diligently, a quiet and unremarkable professional of the pitch. With a maturity belying his years, Close just does what is needed. But perhaps that's reductive. One doesn't achieve what he has without the ability to change a game with the right tackle, or the right cross; Close has the pace to follow one up with the other.

5 - CB - Roxelana Thorn (Image Revolutionaries) - Age 25 - 58 caps, 1 goal
Thorn feels like she could be the woman of the future. Tall, decisive and muscular, Thorn throws herself fearlessly into any challenge to keep the ball out of her net. The art of defending - the joy of defending - is not lost, not as long as Thorn is here.

6 - CB - Ilyana Brosch (Image AFC Corvistone) - Age 26 - 35 caps, 1 goal
A tall, grave figure, with a dense web of tattoos. Brosch doesn't really get angry. She just stares. It's worse, somehow. She's an uncompromising defender who sticks tight to her task, and is growing increasingly confident in possession.

18 - RB - Valeri Longship (Image Crisisbless) - Age 25 - 18 caps
Longship's small, unassuming body is inked almost head to toe. A troubled child whose apprenticeship at Morningstar allegedly included bribes from the club to get her a Year 10 certificate, Longship's anger flares up on the field not infrequently. But she's an excellent fullback, particularly on the defensive, forceful in the tackle and never out of position.

19 - LB - Sander Katarec (Image Vermillion Rage) - Age 25 - 18 caps
A coltish, attacking fullback, Katarec excels at dealing damage down the left. Intelligent enough to find the right channels for a run or a pass, Katarec can deal serious damage, and he's sharp enough defensively to cover himself.

22 - CB - Gabriel Lockheed (Image AFC Treason) - Age 24 - 9 caps, 1 goal
Lockheed is a powerhouse, someone who was on no lists of future greats until injuries at the Stags thrust him into the firing line and he stood up flawlessly to the task. He combines physicality with intelligence and no small mastery of the dark arts.

Midfielders
4 - HM - Tawny Shone (Image Sabrefell Moths) - Age 25 - 54 caps, 6 goals
A true street-scrapper, from the hard part of Sabrefell. That reflects in her play, uncompromising and full-throttle despite her relatively small size, scampering around and committing niggling fouls.and sneaky ankle-taps. She's far more than a destroyer, though, and that becomes clear the moment she glides onto the ball and picks out a perfect pass from range.

7 - RM - Marica Kuepper (Image Jungle Strike) - Age 25 - 31 caps, 9 goals
Nepharim wingers do not generally have a reputation for flair - nevertheless, here the mercurial Marica Kuepper is, combining the traditional lightning pace, general bittiness and ability to handle herself in a scrap with the... let's be honest, arrogance required to really like humiliating her markers.

8 - CM - Malachi Chalk (Image Falourr) - Age 26 - 27 caps, 5 goals
Make no mistake, Chalk can handle himself in a scrap. He won't start one, but he'll finish one. He's assertive and confident in possession, but more efficient than flashy. His driving runs into the box cause havoc, and he'll be just as decisive at the other end, a true box-to-box man.

11 - LM - Rowena Strongbow (Image Directus) - Age 30 - 130 caps, 43 goals
A powerful, old-school Nepharim winger who burst onto the scene a while back and has impressed everyone for club and country. She's got it all - pace, power, professionalism, and pfinal ball. Surely one of the world's best players, having never taken a step back in her career. The first woman to ply her trade in Eura's leagues, she never looked back.

13 - RM - Monako Saroszi (Image Ulsa) - Age 27 - 68 caps, 17 goals
A fearless, driving winger, unafraid to get their hands dirty to get back the ball. They exude a quiet confidence that manifests itself on the pitch as flashy, decisive moves, and they're unafraid to take on a shot themselves. Their red card was the catalyst for everything going wrong last cycle. They have some redemption ahead.

15 - HM - Ferena Rauch (Image AFC Treason) - Age 25 - 10 caps
Rauch is everything Shone isn't; tall and lean, imperious in possession, and preferring to lean lightly on her opponents and ease them off the ball. She's a very progressive kind of holding midfielder, but has more than enough grit to break down attacks.

16 - LM - Morena Deventer (Image Brinemouth) - Age 24 - 27 caps, 10 goals
Deventer's got a real sense of mischief about her. She's a trouble-maker, at least on the pitch. Maybe a little off it. But her impish goblin grin conceals a brilliant football intelligence, which brings the best from her considerable technique and pace. Somewhat lightweight, and has a slight tendency to overthink things at this stage.

21 - AM - Chimera Moxham (Image Crawford City FC) - Age 26 - 71 caps, 32 goals
Aren't playmakers meant to be classy? Moxham isn't. She's arrogant, but not in an elegant way, she just always believes she knows the right thing to do, on and off the pitch. Perhaps annoyingly, she's usually right. Decision-making can be a bit flaky, but she has the pace, the eye for goal and even the defensive workrate to make up for it.

Forwards
9 - ST - Estrella Hawke (Image Directus) - Age 32 - 145 caps, 88 goals
Statuesque and athletic, Hawke's very strong, very quick and ruthless with the ball at her feet. Her first touch can be her downfall, and she's at her most comfortable charging forward at full pelt, but when she's in full flight she's an irresistible force. As a pure striker's striker, she's world-class. Her mentality is impeccable, her leadership unquestioned, making her a natural choice for the armband. Which was stripped from her after the Cup, as her brand of quiet, steady leadership-by-example fell flat.

10 - ST - Aristide Metzger (Image AFC Treason) - Age 27 - 49 caps, 26 goals
Metzger has had to be patient, sticking with his hometown club, but has steadily been able to force his foot in the door as Roddy Fraser aged. And, no, he isn't nearly as clinical a goalscorer... yet. He's an all-action forward, with no setting to dial down the tempo. Plays hard and fast, and prefers power over placement.

14 - ST - Kurtis Laiota (Image Crisisbless) - Age 27 - 7 caps, 3 goals
Laiota is a thug, bluntly, and an unapologetic one at that. He's never happier than when sent to wade into melee with some muscular defenders and wrestle them out of formation. He's vicious, dirty and spiteful. He occasionally scores goals, too, but those are a bonus as much as anything.

17 - ST - Kurtis Bastable (Image Hornchurch) - Age 24 - 34 caps, 21 goals
A sturdy figure with a low centre of gravity, immense strength and resilience, a deceptive change of pace and an unerring eye for goal, Bastable has emerged as the natural successor to Estrella Hawke, though he's less versatile in his skillset and better with the ball at his feet.

23 - ST - Konrad Lovelace (Image Starling) - Age 22 - 7 caps, 1 goals
'The new Estrella Hawke', according to excitable headlines that don't pay attention to anything that matters. They're both from Starling, they're both strikers, they're both athletic, they're both good. Thus far, Lovelace lacks a real dimension besides blistering pace, football intelligence and a ruthless finish - and also lacks a right boot. But he can still do the damage.

BRENECIA
World Ranking:
Not Great
Preferred Formation: 4-3-3
Backup Formations: 4-2-3-1
Style Modifier: 2
Home Stadium: Kingsgarden - a 58,000 all-seater in the capital of Rozelle.
Kit Supplier: ediraf
Nickname: the Patriots

Five Campionati Esportiva. And with that, the Golden Age can safely be allowed to end. The good times have been over for a while, in truth, but perhaps a small country's just reverted back to its true level. There's faith in Brelk-Xeral to manage what looks to be a difficult generational transition, and there's just no depth at all in the national pool. But Brenecia's done alright treading water. Making the World Cup would be par, and honestly, at this stage, the second round would be a victory.

First Team and Tactics

Pace, pace and pace. Brelk-Xeral's mantra isn't hard to understand. They have their side set up to overwhelm opponents with a high press, crowding them with bodies and it's impressive how well-drilled they are considering the limited amount of time international teams get on the training ground. It might be overly simplistic to say they just harry opponents into mistakes and capitalise, but... God, they are good at that. Wheeler, their lethal wingers and the overlapping runs from the fullbacks are relied upon to break down parked buses, as well as the bulk of their centre-halves from set pieces.

Staff
Manager - Brelk-Xeral Erv (QUS) - Age 46
Asst. Manager - Jess Curtin - Age 43

Brelk-Xeral is a visionary. The canny Qusmo is a strong tactician with a forthrightness that gets things done, and their appreciation for open, attacking football meshes nicely with the Southern school of Brenecian football. They favour a solid, trusted core of talent, like Jim Reid - unlike Jim Reid, they are ruthless when it comes to removing players who can no longer pull their weight. The astute former international midfielder Jess Curtin offers the local touch as assistant, having survived the change in regime.

Goalkeepers
Core
1 - GK - Cass Farrell (Image Northern Union) - Age 27 - 34 caps, 8 clean sheets
Raw-boned and confident, perhaps to a fault; Farrell worked hard on the training pitch to beat the errors out of her game, and it seems to have paid off. She's an excellent keeper in the Mathis Woodgate mould. Not really a sweeper, not great with the ball at her feet, accurate long distribution, and a near-unparalleled shot-stopper.

12 - GK - Opal Cairncross (Image Marketville) - Age 26 - 5 caps
A hard worker with high ambitions, Cairncross overcame the fatal flaw of not being especially tall or broad to succeed as a goalkeeper in Eura when she hadn't in Brenecia. Faintly bizarre, but she's a skilled and hardened shot-stopper with her sights set high.

20 - GK - Scanlan Pritchard (Image Marque) - Age 24 - 4 caps, 1 clean sheet
A high-pressing, hard-running sweeper with excellent distribution, Pritchard's got a rick in him every now and again. A shot-stopper whose weakness is, well, shot-stopping - though he's no slouch, either. Agile, highly physical and with just a hint of madness in the blood.

Defenders
2 - RB - Keziah Broxham (Image Mallox) - Age 26 - 73 caps, 4 goals
Broxham is not the nicest defender in the world. She's short, sharp, quick and decisive in her movements. If you don't mind a fair bit of needle in the tackle, and even off the ball, the lippy rightback's one of the most promising out there.

3 - LB - Gethin Quill (Image Revolutionaries) - Age 30 - 118 caps, 9 goals
Short and stocky, Quill's a quick, powerful runner and isn't afraid to show a little muscle defending his corner. A dirty street-fighter with the technique to back it up, exactly the kind of player everyone hates but secretly wants on their team. When Revolutionaries plucked him from obscurity, as he was cast aside in the aftermath of Union's disgrace, their fans were understandably sceptical. He won them over, fast.

5 - CB - Garrett Horgan (Image Northern Union) - Age 29 - 44 caps, 8 goals
A brawny enforcer who doesn't mind putting a bit of stick about. Horgan was one of Union's youth products at the time of their fall from grace; he had to put up with being shopped around on loan until his hometown club got back to the second tier, and ever since his return, he's helped them from that ignominy to a Champions Cup final. But he's the same bouncer as ever.

6 - CB - Keane Mathers (Image Northern Stallions) - Age 26 - 35 caps, 3 goals
Mathers is a shaved bear. That's pretty useful in a centre-half. He's clean on the ball, even relatively clean off it, knowing how to stay on the right side of the referee as he gently but firmly escorts his charges off to the edges. Unbeatable in the air, and even relatively not slow despite his bulk.

18 - RB - Sorcha Lonergan (Image Northern Union) - Age 23 - 13 caps, 1 goal
Lightning-quick, Lonergan's attacking play could use work but she's already a resolute defender with an excellent mentality and a hunger to learn. She's tireless and energetic, and her concentration never slips.

19 - LB - Morwen Prentice (Image Crystal Fair HC) - Age 25 - 43 caps, 1 goal
A lean, elegant fullback, comfortable with the ball at her feet. Her confidence and technique will take her far if she can sharpen up defensively, but she isn't young anymore and needs to take that next step in her career.

22 - CB - Chadwick Beath (Image CA Paulinthal) - Age 30 - 40 caps
A brawny, powerful defender, versatile both on and off the pitch, who has played in three nations already - none of them Brenecia. He's a doughty, determined soul who will do whatever's asked of him without complaint. He usually splits his time between being an unusually strong rightback and an unusually fast centre-half, but he can play on the left or in defensive midfield willingly enough.

Midfielders
4 - DM - Keziah Locke (Image Duke of the North) - Age 27 - 34 caps, 3 goals
Despite a willowy physique and an intellectual bent, Locke still took quickly to the role of midfield enforcer once trialled. In part, this is because of a hefty infusion of white-line fever that ensures she's always ready to foul, but her strongest asset is her anticipation, always finding her in the right place at the right time. She has the passing range and eye for goal of a more attack-minded midfielder, on top of that.

8 - CM - Elysse Matheson (Image Hornchurch) - Age 25 - 58 caps, 16 goals
A pacy, frictionless midfielder, Matheson passed up the chance to develop at high-flying Rozelle to slum it at Hornchurch, doing the hard yards in Eura. It's already brought out a new dimension in her. She's not a passing playmaker, but a driving force from midfield, eager to make a mark on the edges of the box.

13 - CM - Corby Wheeler (Image Ramusok United) - Age 27 - 96 caps, 31 goals
A sharp, ambitious midfielder who is constantly darting in and about the danger zone. Has a great vision and a passing range that doesn't quite match it, and can fade out of games, but as a mercurial game-changer she's without equal in the side. After being a major culprit in Reid's downfall, Wheeler's had a new lease of life after the change in management.

14 - CM - Claire Ruskin (Image Kingsgrove) - Age 28 - 60 caps, 10 goals
A sturdy, tough-skinned box-to-box midfielder. Ruskin's not the sort to take a backward step either on or off the pitch, and while she can sometimes get tunnel vision for the goal - which is a relatively good thing now that she can actually... shoot - she tends to get the basics right. Maybe not the sort of player whose positive contributions are remembered by a neutral, and endured a fairly comical goalless run of over 25 international games.

21 - CM - Riona Parker (Image Galatica) - Age 25 - 17 caps, 2 goals
A lithe, diligent playmaker, Parker has a street footballer's talent for a clever first touch, an egotist's penchant for long shots and her own penchant for cheating. If anyone on the team is going to totally feign contact and dive, it's her. By all accounts, a far nicer person off the pitch than on it.

23 - DM - Ronan Fallon (Image Newrook City) - Age 25 - 13 caps
Fallon loves to defend, and properly get stuck into opponents. There is nothing subtle about his style, and he'll never go missing on the pitch. Well, unless he's sent off, of which there is a non-zero risk. He knows his ability on the ball is limited and doesn't try to overstretch it.

Forwards
7 - RW - Lauren Cheney (Image Kingsgrove) - Age 24 - 55 caps, 18 goals
Much of the hope for the Brenecian future hangs on Cheney's broad shoulders. A street footballer at her heart, Cheney has a very un-Brenecian ego problem, and expresses it in very Brenecian passive-aggression and a need to work harder and better than anyone and everyone around her. Fast, tough, and with an eye for goal.

9 - ST - Niall Bremner (Image Unioneers) - Age 28 - 34 caps, 15 goals
Tall, strong, fast and ruthless, preferring to lamp the ball powerfully into the net at any opportunity. Bremner's curse is that he's never been allowed to properly be trusted with the Patriots in the career, thrown to the sharks too early and dismissed. Belatedly, after finding his feet at Goldleague level, that looks to change.

10 - ST - Kara Ciogach (Image Lajuno) - Age 26 - 47 caps, 28 goals
The shining new hope of Brenecia's strikers, Ciogach is, typically, Schottic. She even won a couple of caps for them. Nevertheless, here she is. She's ambitious, strong despite a lithe physique, fast as hell, and able to finish with either foot or the head. Without really meaning to, she's become the talisman of the team.

11 - LW - Cathal Keynes (Image Lajuno) - Age 27 - 71 caps, 18 goals
Tall, strong and powerful, Keynes probably looks more like a striker, but that loping stride masks a deceptive pace. Has steadily mastered a low, flat cross, and has a real eye for goal. Even if he's used in more of an impact role these days, he still makes his mark felt.

15 - RW - Cail Coghlan (Image Pikemouth) - Age 27 - 8 caps, 1 goal
Coghlan's burning pace is her best asset and she knows how to make the most of it. She seems almost to sprint all match, probing the opposing defence with her sharp feet and whiplash-inducing turns, and she'll throw herself into pressing opponents from the front as well.

16 - LW - Ceridwen Fletcher (Image North Hall) - Age 23 - 41 caps, 9 goals
It's hard not to couch Fletcher as Cheney's opposite; a tall, elegant Northerner, less versatile or direct but with a peach of a left boot that can be rapier or sledgehammer, depending on what's required. Her potential is immense, and there's every sign she'll fulfil it.

17 - ST - Creidne Lindauer (Image Kingsgrove) - Age 25 - 15 caps, 9 goals
Lindauer isn't versatile. She's very quick, very clever, and she's a very good finisher. Despite some people almost hoping for the unglamorous, outspoken forward to get found out for her hometown club, it's yet to happen, and she's flourished sufficiently to become an impact option for the Patriots.

Notes

Between their appearances in the 24th and 32nd editions of the Copa Rushmori, Saintland underwent two time warps with over 50 years elapsing. In the years that elapsed, Saintland split into the Feministvs Sanctvsterra-run west and the Church of Saintland-run east which were eventually unified under the eastern government after King Petrus XX (now officially regarded as a usurper and heretic) died without a male heir and King Paulus XVI, son of King Andreas, refused to recognize the legitimacy of the law permitting Petrus's daughters to take the throne. After conquering Saintland, King Paulus XVI has restored the Church of Saintland to its legally dominant position and has pursued a course slightly more traditional than that of his grandfather. Sanctii time now runs at the same pace as Republican time (OOC: 1 year per WC).

The quality of Sanctii soccer has declined precipitously in recent years as baseball has become the most popular sport due to King Paulus XVI's legendary status in that sport. While King Paulus XVI's son Prince Andreas is tearing up youth soccer at the moment and may one day follow in his grandfather's footsteps, he is nowhere near ready for international competition which means that Saintland is returning to international play with a young defensive-oriented team led by goalkeeper Alessandro Suedius, the young goalkeeper for the St. Nicolaus team that has won the Sanctii league championship 3 years straight. Suedius selected a team of younger stars from the Sanctii league due to the low expectations surrounding the team.

The team is built around conservative, physical, defensive play. If the officials allow rough play, this Sanctii team will take advantage of it to frustrate attack-oriented opposition with a steady diet of borderline dirty tackles. As for the team itself, none of the players particularly stand out other than Suedius and Suedius will shuffle players in and out on a regular basis. The starters listed are the most likely starters but that exact lineup will almost never be the lineup Suedius goes with for an actual match.

NEWMANISTAN ROCKETS

OFFICIAL WORLD CUP 84 ROSTER

Starters:
GK: #1- Ryan McNamara (26, Tundra Falls Mariners)
– A taller keeper that prefers to rely on instincts. Is often aggressive towards the shooter, and this has seen him have success, especially while at the Proving Grounds. He is not as successful in road games, but is still considered the best keeper in the nation and is coming off a decent campaign, considering the low expectations..

LB: #2- Tim Marley (28, Jessicaville Millionaires)
– An average frame, but an overall high work ethic. Very good with his overall positioning, and is not often going to be faked out by an opponent. Though he can be outmuscled.

LCB: #4- Scott Corellis (28, Pocono City Capitals)
– Complements Marley in that he is the strength on the left side of the defense. That is the thought process anyway, because these two have never actually played together before.

RCB: #5- Adrian O’Bryan (31, Loudon Leopards)
– An intelligent defender, but sometimes a little too overconfident. While he knows the game very well, and is very studious when watching game tape in preparation, he trusts himself a little too much.

RB: #3- Shawn Stoddard (26, Centralia Firebirds)
– While Corellis is a strong player, Stoddard is the most physical of the group. He will not be shy to be aggressive towards the opponent and figures to lead the club in bookings. A fan favorite in Centralia.

LM: #8- Jorge Cortez (27, Pocono City Capitals)
– Excellent two way player, that will both score goals and be one of the first ones back to defend. He has very good chemistry at home with Scott Corellis, and it should be expected that they will hook up once or twice for a goal.

CM: #9- Tyrone Vannella (29, Springfield Thoroughbreds)
– Has blazing speed and a ton of talent. Unfortunately, he is also known to be an arrogant player, and some players on the team might not be thrilled he is on the team. He’ll be the last one to show up at practice, and the first to leave. Not a fan friendly player, either.

RM: #12- Jarrell Connolly (27, Putnam Lake Eagles)
– Playing in Putnam Lake, where soccer is the most popular within Newmanistan, Connolly has a lot of pressure on him. Thankfully, he has always been able to handle that. He’s played with Vannella before, and despite their differing personalities, they have been known to play well together.

LS: #10- Brent Chapman (25, Tundra Falls Mariners)
– Has a hard shot and is very accurate with it. He’s not going to do much else for the team, though. Can be beaten by a strong defender.

ST: #15- Jerome Beyer (28, South Charlotte Condors)
– An astute passer, Beyer will be looking to set up either Chapman or Schaefer, or another Rocket more then he will be looking to put shots on goal himself. Very creative with the ball and getting by defenders.

RS: #11- Derek Schaefer (27, Southport Tigers)
– Figures to be the team leader in goals. While Chapman has a harder and more accurate shot, Schaefer has more overall skill that will allow him to get more shots on net. He’s no slouch with his shot power or accuracy either, though.

Regular Substitutes:
GK: #21- Aaron Scarpa (31, North Charlotte Wildcats)
CB: #6- Calvin Douglas (28, South Tier Seagulls)
CB: #7- Thomas Caprotti (27, Loudon Leopards)
MID: #13- Dirk Donato (28, Dover City Mountaineers)
MID: #17- Samantha Paschke (30, Centralia Firebirds)
ST: #14- Jimmy Halligan (27, Jessicaville Millionaires)
ST: #16- Antonio Cruz (24, Penthoria Riverman)

Reserves:
GK: #25- Jesse Gallant (28, Olympia Gladiators)
CB: #22- Neil Blades (20, North Charlotte Wildcats)
CB: #23- Eli Watson (26, Brighton Bulls)
MID: #18- Peyton McLeod (26, Nashua Broncos)
MID: #26- Saquon Shields (28, Loudon Leopards)
ST: #19- John Baker (27, Pocono City Capitals)
ST: #24- Shane Shuster (20, Daytopia Racers)

Manager- Miguel Hernandez (51, Jessicaville Millionaires)
Formation: 4-3-3
Skill Modifier: +1.2
