Not that this, or Gauth in general, has anything to do with the thread but tbf it is accurate given the offsite posts I bore witness to where rage posts against NSGers had an unhealthy level of sexual imagery.
Anyway, foreign powers lobbying the US government is nothing new. I thought it was one of those more blatantly obvious things. I mean, a lot of progressives used to point out foreign ties in the Bush administration, then the same was done when it came to foreign influence in the Obama administration. Tbh it's going to be impossible to solve given America's place as a global power. It's inevitably going to get dragged into internal shenanigans in some other country at some point.

Foreign lobbying isn't new, and isn't strictly illegal.
Whatever Donald Trump did wasn't that, though. Neither is the Russia 2016 case.

One is reminded of the situation within the Late Republic. Foreign powers would bribe X group for Y application of the state's power.

Yes. America finds itself in a rather familiar stage of development. Tbh either the federal government is weakened considerably and America pulls back from the world or it loses its republican system of government in favor of something else that increases stabilizes and formalizes the imperial bureaucracy.

Who even is running from the Republican Party, beside Trump? I very clearly missed any additions to the race. Then again, I have been trying my best to ignore all the news I get from the NYT, because it’s about nothing but impeachment. I’m also too lazy to unsubscribe to the NYT.

It's practically just Trump, there are like two other candidates but they're too low-profile to make a dent.
