Agreed, from what I can tell he is likely talking about ho democracy goes that far back, he just said it really badly.

It's the syntax and phrasing that's fucked up.
He's saying that America was part of Rome as was Italy.

It is simply oddly worded. People are making a mountain out of a molehill.

"The United States and Italy are bound together by a shared cultural and political heritage dating back thousands of years to Ancient Rome..."
So is he saying that the heritage goes back over 1,000 years or that the US and Italy have been bounded together for 1,000 years?

Well, not just that, but the Roman empire was arguably the founder of modern western civilization. Architecture, religion, language, philosophy, the very alphabet we're typing, all and more have their origins in Roman, and one only has to look at the structure pf the US government and its infrastructure, down to the buildings that houses it, to see that in many ways we tried to emulate them, and we're hardly the only nation to have done so.

While it is true that the Founding Fathers liked to LARP as Romans, I don't know how true this is. Protestant Christianity, Anglo-Saxon civic-mindedness, and the English Civil War had a much bigger impact on the US's political structures.

Protestant Christianity traces its roots back to the Christianity that was adopted and formed by the Roman empire and its society. And I'd argue that Anglo-Saxon/English culture was just as much aspiring to be Roman as the rest of Europe at the time was.
The Roman Empire had an effect on cultures far beyond its border. For centuries it was the founder culture that Europeans/Westerners looked up to.

No, it's because he's a criminal who keeps doing crimes and corrupting the power of the government to avoid being brought to justice.
I don't want Trump politically weakened. I don't want him voted out of office in 2020. I want him impeached, removed from office, convicted of his manifold crimes, and sent to a serious fucking prison to live out the rest of his miserable life in a 10x10 with a cot and pot.
I want this not for political advantage, or even because of Trump's policies - abhorrent as they are, and insofar as he has any beyond his own personal aggrandizement - but because if he's allowed to get away unpunished after his blatant corruption of the office of the Presidency, America is doomed. And simply voting him out of office like he's some kind of legitimate office-holder isn't enough... we need to send a serious message that this shit don't fly.
(And I've hated Trump way longer than 2016. I hated him when he was just a con man and reality TV personality with no connection to anything I gave a shit about. But that was just an abstract, detached kind of hatred, the kind of hatred you might have for broccoli, or reality television. Since he conspired with a foreign power to subvert the American electoral process, corrupt the Presidency, and literally kill people for the sake of his bloated ego, it's become a much more directed kind of hatred.)
But I guess none of that matters, because Trump is doing the only thing that's important to you: Continuing to do absolutely nothing to bring down Castro.
(Seriously, have you noticed that sixty years of hard-line Cuba policy has accomplished nothing whatsoever, beyond grinding the Cuban people ever-further into the dirt, but in the rest of the Soviet bloc, where we pursued more moderate policies, all of the communist regimes collapsed decades ago? (Though, granted, what we currently have in Russia is probably not actually better.) The carrot works better than the stick.)

Not my president:' Trump denounced in protests across America

A few excerpts you can all read the rest from Politico:
A day after Donald Trump's election to the presidency, campaign divisions appeared to widen as many thousands of demonstrators — some with signs with messages declaring "NOT MY PRESIDENT" — flooded streets across the country to protest his surprise triumph.
From New England to heartland cities like Kansas City and along the West Coast, demonstrators bore flags and effigies of the president-elect, disrupting traffic and declaring that they refused to accept Trump's victory.
Los Angeles demonstrators also beat a Trump piñata and sprayed the Los Angeles Times building and news vans with anti-Trump profanity. One protester outside LA City Hall read a sign that simply said "this is very bad."
There were other Midwest protest marches in Omaha, Nebraska, and Kansas City, Missouri.
I rest my case.

I have former Cuban political prisoners in my family and friends, my next door neighbor is a former Cuban political prisoner for 13 years, he says I did not put a bomb anywhere, I did not kill anyone, I just spoke out against the revolution I disagree with.
As my guy Cousin who also emigrated from Cuba legally the right way, told me be careful what you say about our family in Cuba, because if the Cuban government finds out who you are they can make life hell for our family still in Cuba.
That is the nature of the people we are dealing with in Cuba, as Raúl and Miguel Diaz-Canel and the eternal Cuban regime say, we are the continuity of the revolution, the carrot does not work.
For obvious reasons.

Trump committed an impeachable offense. He literally broke the law and may have ordered Giuliani to do illegal things and get an ambassador fired.
Is Cuba the only thing you care about because it sure comes off that way?
