So I've been reading up on this (mostly on BBC) and because I'm an ignorant American, not really aware of all your Parliamentary procedures/protocols. It seems that there are only 7 or 8 total working days being lost by this "suspension". Is that really so bad? When I first heard this news, I thought of it as a dissolving of Parliament, which clearly this is not.

Can't Parliament do something in the next week or so to stop this if they want to?

Now a dystopia is something we can actually do, with minimal efforts even.

Poor Boris, doing outrageous things in the UK, yet this year still being upstaged by Trump and Bolsanaro.

Even as a populist, he's third rate at best.

It takes a while to pass almost anything through the commons: it's not a "one vote and done" thing. You have to jump through some hoops to get it even brought to motion, then go through the emergency procedures to get through it quickly enough, then hope that the Lords also get through it quickly enough and don't make any amendments.

It's easy to do what you say when you've taken pretty much every standpoint available in a desperate attempt to find something that sticks.
