The Vatican is not that rich.
They economy of Vatican City is minuscule.
They have a lot of assets and income, but a ton of expenses.
Also most church money is raised and spent at the local level, never goes to the Vatican.

Also no, it takes much more than some money to fight a war.

Actually, no, it won't happen.

Persecution of Christians is definitely a real thing in certain parts of the world, such as the persecution of Assyrian Christians in the Middle East, and it often goes unacknowledged by the West.

I think first world Christians are partly to blame for making persecution less visible. When a Christian in American or the UK claims to be persecuted, that's bullshit and everyone knows that bullshit, so people who aren't educated about Christianity outside of the first world start thinking it's always bullshit. American Christians cry wolf so often that people think the wolves in other parts of the world aren't real.

Caligula and Claudius did not persecute christians. That did not start until 64 AD.

Psh, no it wouldn't, it would skip right to killing them, both Pre-Heresy and Post. Religion was one of the primary things done away with and targeted by the Emperor of Mankind and the Imperium after his sacrifice would consider it heretical to their ironic Cult of the Emperor.

I feel like this thread is partly a rant about islamophobia stealing christophobia's thunder or something.

Lots of Christians get ganked in the Middle East because Islam is the reigning religion there and how they do things in the Middle East is not how they do things in Westernized nations. Pretty sure you've got enough people trying to get rid of "muslems" in places where other religions hold the belt, but they're not as keen to resort to lynching anymore.

Stop being a bigot Nove Cyberia. When you do I'll care more about your worries about being persecuted.

A poster on the internet being a bigot in no way makes the persecution of any religious group something that can be dismissed.

Your argument reeks of the far right pointing out that some Muslim majority countries engage in several human rights abuses when oppression of Muslims is brought up. Both arguments are irrelevant to the topic of whether or not we should tolerate religious persecution.

Any response to this topic, and indeed any topic of oppression of a minority group, that isn't a straightforward condemnation of this oppression is disgusting and should be treated as such. This includes "this is terrible but what about..." arguments that people on this thread are sadly engaging in.

This came a week after the bombings of Sri Lanka so it was significant.

It's simply because the news of christian persecution in an otherwise not-christian-majority often happen in area where the freedom of media is hard to get by, at the very least by societal norm, rather than the opposite is the reason of seemingly media blackout, rather than political correctness. For those who try to put "lmao them islam did it", try to look up Israel or PRC persecution against Christian activity in their area. It also didn't help that organization like World Council of Churches and other global christian non-governmental organization often get discredited by the christian themselves, especially in countries like America, even as they report and help various oppressed christian group around the globe.

What need to be done is instead trying to push "muh political correctness" agenda all the time, is for the Christians, especially first-world Christians, to actually pay attention to what actually happening with other christian around the world, even with differing beliefs, and even if its happening in what is seems like far flung area on the globe. Too many people react with "well, that's a shitty place, so of course shitty things happen" when they hear fellow Christians are oppressed instead, and this attitude does not spread awareness that oppression is currently happening, which in of itself is already stifled by the lack of freedom of information.

Oh you can certainly compare it, and you'll find genocide is worse, which is what part of this entire thread has been about.

Both are rooted in the same mentality. In the west people are trying to get rid of islam as well - it's just that in the west we have strict laws and morals that supersede religious doctrine. In places like the middle east, that's no so much the case I would assume. The root cause is the same and should be addressed, or religious - or rather, ideological - oppression just going to keep happening. Then again, that's no short-term solution, so evidently other actions are needed as well.

If you were assuming I'm joining in on the pissing contest of "who has it worse" then you're mistaken.

Right because there is no such thing as organized slaughter or targeting of muslims. Clearly the most that muslims have to put up with is just mild racism.
