DISCLAIMER: Please only post in here if you are a member of Esportiva and have signed up for the 24th edition of the Campionato Esportiva. If you are a non-Esportiva member your posts will be reported to moderation and well it'll be an annoying waste of my time so please steer clear of posting, thanks.

The people of the Crown Federation of Velestria and The Ja'barilands welcome you officially to the 24th edition of the Campionato Esportiva for the first time on Velish soil.

Its been two years since the World Cup finals and regional domestic cups are starting to come up again, the world is ripe for international football and leagues are on break or ending their seasons with their players looking o stay in form. In Rushmore, players are preparing to travel to Qusmo, in Sonnel players are…not travelling anywhere because Sonnel doesn’t support the superior sport. But of course, Esportiva has its crown to fight for, the aptly-named Campionato Esportiva which this year is contested by 24 nations, fighting to the death for a chance to hoist the CE trophy. The Velish Football Association (VFA) on behalf of Velestria would like to welcome all 24 national delegations to Velestria where the games shall be fought out on the field, where sweat will be spilt, goals will be scored and one nation will hail their players as heroes.
This is the endgame.
Welcome home.

This is the main thread for your rosters and roleplays and stuff, scores will also be directed here; the Campionato Esportiva and really any regional non-WCC sanctioned tournament is a really good place to develop storylines for your characters entering the World Cup, I plan to do that and encourage you to also do that. Enjoy your experience this is going to be a fun ride, and of course only post if you are a member of Esportiva.

A Guide to Velestria and & The Tournament

Postby Velestria » Thu May 30, 2019 10:14 am

Velestria | National Info

Making up a half of the Crown Federation, Velestria is a sprawling nation located in the region of Esportiva, a nation of diverse peoples hopes to 66 million, Velestria is perhaps best known for its football league pyramid, the LigVezia. Ruled by a center-left coalition, the archipelago of islands is known for its arid, winter lands to the north and the Ja’barilands and for the lush foliage and beautiful natural scenes in the south. Devoid of life much to the north, the large Ice Forest stands in the mountains daring people to pass through ‘The Wall’ to where the North lay, the south the nation is decorated with cities and lights, adorn, a cosmopolitan mix of cultures and peoples the nation opens its hands to the region and to the world. Welcome to Velestria.

Once a splintered nation divided of seven tribes, Queen A’yaka the Creator and High Crown Jamie Knight VI joined unions in 102 to unite the realms after years of fighting and wars, this lead to the joining of The Ja’barilands and Velestria into a loose federation named as the Crown Union of Velestria-Ja’barilands. In 204, the nation saw the fall of the monarchy as the absolute monarchy that had ruled the nation chaotically for 100 years was disestablished and reformed into a constitutional monarchy, the position of First Minister was formed and Jon Arian, whom many call “the first father” was named as the first First Minister of the newly-proclaimed Crown Federation of Velestria and the Ja’barilands.

A bustling third world nation, Velestria today is a large mammoth of a nation spread over an island chain and some mainland; much of Velestria is however divided on ethnic claims and territories. Most of those who are ethnically Ja’bari still reside to the North in The Ja’barilands in which it practices a degree of self-autonomy from the Crown Federation. However, the nation has seen rapid change since opening up to the world in 407, as it continues to modernize and seeks advancement and improved connections with the global economic and social system.

Travel
Velestria is a bustling nation served by many different airports because of the high traffic associated with being the home of 66 million people, the nation consists of the mainland, the North and a few isles to the west. Likely you will arrived to the nation in the capital at Southampshire-Greendon Airport the second busiest airport in the nation in which upon arriving you will likely have connection domestic flights sponsored by Crownian to the different cities within Velestria. Additionally, the largest city in the Crown Federation lies across the border in The Ja’barilands in Birnin Calix, The Ja’barilands have agreed to allow flights bound for the Campionato Esportiva to land in Birnin Calix’s Ve’leza Mpouto IV Int’l. Airport, the busiest airport in the Crown Federation it is served by state of the art facilities and caters to the entirety of the multiverse.

In Velestria travel within the nation while straight-forward may seem a little complicated. It is highly advised foreigners do not travel by car in highly-ethnic neighborhoods or high-density zonal apartment regions which have notoriety for being unsafe. The Velish Transportation Ministry and most cities have local public transport systems set up and have increased this for the Campionato Esportiva, especially in historic cities like Old Birmingham, known for its small streets and ancient design, buses and public transport is the optimal way of traveling while there. Velestria is served by train however due to ‘The Fight For Clean Air Campaign’, many cosmopolitan cities have ditched railroad and train for public transport, however long haul routes crisscrossing the nation do exist, however with limited public funding many trains are decrypt and in vague terms are not safe. In finality, use public transport.

Language
Most Lotish people – that’s the demonym for someone from the Crown Federation speak Lotish English which is English just…Lotish-ified, English is very common and heard in almost any area of Velestria. But if you are arriving in Birnin Calix or the north, you will be greeted in a foreign language, most Ja’baris speak ‘a-Akyaay’, the language of The Ja’barilands, the Ja’bari government each year licenses foreign interpreters who sell their services to foreigners who arrive in the North, it’s likely the CE24 organizers have already reached out to nations comes to the North to license interpreters for the national teams you use. Be careful to those who are coming to watch the game that you don’t get scammed as the airport scene in Calix is known for con artists. A good interpreter should set you back ℘2900 an hour or about N$200/hour.

Weather
A sprawling nation, unsurprisingly Velestria’s temperature varies from the negative 20s in the North (Fahrenheit of course) to a warm 83 degrees in the coastal south. To stay in line with the lineup of the competition being in June, most of the tournament will take place in central Velestria which has the most optimal temperatures for the cup to take place. However, the sweltering heat will be felt, especially for those who will have their fixtures in the Lotus Keys where temperatures regularly go over 115 degrees daily, the orgnaizers of the competition have promised to do their best to quell the heat, all stadiums seating more than 15,000 are equipped with air conditioning systems and water will be distributed for ℘73 or N$5. Altitude might be a problem for any person playing in North Hampton which is the most-far north without venturing into The Ja’barilands, situated at 12,000 feet above sea level, North Hampton has been known to be a tricky place to play football and altitude sickness can be very common for athletes.

Currency & Shopping
The Pennyworth Sterling, known as the Pennyworth or the Penny is the official currency of the Crown Federation, its symbol is the ℘, ℘1 is worth N$14.62 and inflation in Velestria is high, due to a vast economic recession impacting the nation severely. This means luxury goods are found at a much higher cost in the nation, however food and clothing and well…any non-luxury item can be found at one of many stores littered through the nation. That said, do NOT shop in The Ja’barilands if you’re arriving through Birnin Calix, traders and trademasters as they’re called in the North will scam foreigners, especially if you’re from well-off nations. While Birnin Calix is the social capital of Velestria, cleaning up the street vendors still proves to be a problem even in its bid to be a world class city. The capital, Southampshire has stores, but strict advertising rules require posterboards to only be open from 12-5pm and GPS directions to stores are closed on Wednesday for Wednesday Service throughout the nation. This may severely impact how you spend your money, but regions around stadiums have been equipped and stocked with goods to stay open 24/7 to allow anyone to shop to their hearts content.

The Moor
Will play host to Group B, OF1, OF3, QF1

City: Green Landing, Grierwood
Home to: Battlebrook United

Welcome to the relatively unknown capital of Velestria, Southampshire, a city home to 750,000 people, the planned his city is spread over a bay and stretches over many small inlets in southern Velestria, built in 259, the city is young compared to the ancient cities of the North that dominate the mountain views. Compared to the rest of the towns and cities, Velestria’s sleek capital is a page out of a future book, a city for the elites the city is really despised by many and the stench is horrific! A place of learning, three academies and two universities are based here as is the Royal Guard Training Facilities, which are where the Royal Guard which protects the High Potentate is trained. Velestria’s capital is mostly obscure due to much of the focus being on other cities, however, Southampshire is noted in many pieces of literature from Velestria, many great composers have found their birth here, Yung Damu, who’s recent hit “Riding on a Tractor” reached number one on the Velish charts finds his birth here. Hartford Park – also known as the national stadium is found in the affluent neighborhood of Hartford, situated a few miles out of the city center, reaching here is easy, it’s served by public transit and by the cities trams although they’re known for being late, so take them at your own risk.

People from Greens Landing are really part of Southampshire, but the city council doesn’t want to pay Southampshire’s taxes, thus recently the move was made to separate from the city and form a private city of 106,000 a few miles out from Southampshire, a bustling town it’s the heart of a vibrant and growing Velish electronics industry with start-ups such as Horses-In-The-Back Corp. being founded here. The city is obviously new with sparkling buildings and elitest architecture dominating the skyline, an artistic city graffiti can be found on every street corner and the city has a sort of aesthetic vibe to it. The Moor has been the home of Battlebrook United for years and before that was an open-air park, its quirky design has made it become one of the most beloved stadiums in Velestria, due to fire hazards some gates are to be closed for the duration of the cup. Battlebrook supporters, known as the 7th Street Eagles will likely let their presence be known.

The Knollcrown Lands.
Riverwood Stadium | Stadium of Vonna | Klyde Stadium

Riverwood Stadium
Will play host to Group C, OF2, OF6, QF3
Capacity: 34,500
City: Dragonpoolborough, Knollcrown Lands
Home to: Dragoonpool

Stadium of Vonna
Will play host to Group D, OF5
Capacity: 32,900
City: Reading-upon-Wychester, Knollcrown Lands
Home to: Olympic Reading

Klyde Stadium
Will play host to SF1, SF2, 3PPO, Final
Capacity: 50,817
City: Fullham, Knollcrown Lands
Home to: Rovers F.C.

Long the unknown city, Dragonpoolborough is rumored to be the birthplace of dragons although no known dragon has been seen in eons, the old city still has cobblestones and some horse-and-carriage transportation can be found in the right places. Noted as a religious stronghold, if you are not a member of the Faith of the Five, be weary of performing religious celebrations while not at games as you will face arrest in the city by the city’s morality police. However, Riverwood Stadium is a piece of art, a wonderfully built stadium, its craftsmanship is incredibly and its known for the noise factor that builds up in its walls, it will certainly be a great atmosphere for all to play in and will really be the testament to the games.

Reading-upon-Wychester is a mouthful to say so its locals call it Reading and…isn’t a very fun place to be in. At all. Except of course for football, Olympic Reading si the hilariously-named club that is the most well-known club from Reading and competes in Series A, a title contender as of recent times. The city had heavy traffic making public transport optimal, trains serve this area the most, a former railroad depot town its quiet now and a haze hangs over it. The Stadium of Vonna is an outdated stadium, in parts of it wooden beams and electric wires are exposed, however the build is still world class and keeps the charm of old days within its walls. Its deafening noise should make for an intense match when Apox clashes with San José Guayabal.

Fullham is an old, quaint town or actually city that is renowned for its tea merchants who founded the city in the late-160s, known for its large tea factories that decorate its south shores near the harbors, most of the city is stuck in the past but finds a way to mix the modern amenities throughout the city. You’ll find short roads crossing the city with no actual form of roadways, this due to the fact of how old the city was when it was built. The city sees a lot of transportation through tramways and an underground subway, most car types are illegal in Fullham. Klyde Stadium has seen its fair share of agony and that will only be added to it in the games that come here, it’ll see the end of the championship and it will end with a big bang. Who’s going to emerge as champions? That’s on a lot of people’s minds, it could be anybody with the way groups are shaped.

The Lotus Isles.
Saints Park | Blue Sky Sports Complex

Saints Park
Will play host to Group E, OF4
Capacity: 16,269
City: Applegate City
Home to: Doverhampton Wanderers

Blue Sky Sports Complex
Will play host to Group F, OF7
Capacity: 22,000
City: Agraria
Home to: –

Applegate City is the principal city of the Lotus Isles, they’re big on ship-building in these parts of the nation, Applegate City is notable for its sea-faring people who have come to define the population, as seen in the region’s flag which depicts four alternating shades of blue in addition to a sailor. The area has commonly and built up a dependency for having minor stadiums due to smaller area for sport on the region but Saints Park, home of the Doverhampton Wanderers is one of the more large of the stadiums on the island. The stadium itself is located on an island is accessible by water taxi from the large islands on Yervna, Fares start at N$25 while fairs coupled with tickets can hit N$120 range starting.

Agraria is a city absolutely no one cares about and has a shiny new stadium in its bid to steal a Series A team and bring them a new home in Agraria, Agraria is on the edge of the Velish map and is known for its…nothing. Absolutely nothing, there’s next to nothing about this island that’s interesting. Its new stadium, Blue Sky Sports Complex is owned by the resort chain, Blue Sky and had beach viewing for those who don’t find the games interesting. This is a resort-goers haven.
------

Oldtown.
Birmingham-Park

Birmingham-Park
Will play host to QF4
Capacity: 54,057
City: Old Birmingham, Olde Lowes
Home to: Old Birmingham City

One of the oldest cities to exist in Velestria, Old Birmingham has a certain quaint charm that really cannot be matched in any sense of the word, a big, delightful city that’s willing to welcome you, the people here are so kind and it’s a shame only one game will be here. However, its easy to get lost here, make sure you have a map with you or directions on your mobile device at all times or you will get lost. Birmingham-Park is quite large, everyone goes here it should be easy to find your way here for a quarterfinals game.

Mattijanan Roster and Information for Campionato Esportiva 24

The Story So Far

Despite a series of fairly average results in the World Cup, Mattijana have risen to the position of regional heavyweights within Esportiva. Successive bronze medals in the 20th and 21st tournaments were finally broken by a second-place finish in the 22nd addition, despite a 5-0 drubbing by Brenecia in the final. They finally claimed the big one last time round though, beating the same opposition by 2 goals to 1, winning their first tournament in the process.

Pressure is both on and off for CE 24. Whilst the Marmots have at last shifted the hoodoo by winning the tournament, many will now expect them to be somewhere up the sharp end again and Dusan Vukoja is in need of another strong regional performance after yet another disappointing World Cup qualification campaign.

Vukoja saved his job once before with a CE bronze and he may need another good result if he is to lead Mattijana into World Cup 83. Couple that with star-striker Mathilde Lekarisa's shock decision to switch allegiance to Saint Émelie and there are a number of obstacles in the way of glory.

Team Info

World Rank: 59
Esportivan Rank: 4

Formation

Head Coach: Dusan Vukoja
Appointed manager around a month before his first game in charge, Vukoja left Division 1 side FK Puljanka for the National team job, having recorded the club’s best finish in 10 years with 5th, behind only Burges, the two Petrovijanka clubs and FK Revinka. The south-Mattijanan had previously spent time at FK Burges both as assistant and full-time manager after a spell at lower-table side Jamas, where he succeeded in rescuing the team from almost imminent relegation. Now aged 42, Vukoja did not enjoy a lengthy playing career due to injury, but says that coaching is his real passion.
With Ljubanik’s style of play turning increasingly turgid and results also suffering, the Mattijanan FA and fans decided to seek a more exciting brand of football that had been on show at Puljanka in their 5th-place success last season. However the pressure was on the new man to deliver both results and more exciting football.

Assistant Manager: Dominik Samikov (FK Burges)

The assistant manager at Championship leaders FK Burges hails from the North-East of Mattijana and began his career at Dinamo Legisaw, another division 2 side before then moving as one of the tactical staff to FK Burges, where he has since worked his way up the pecking order to assistant manager. He has an excellent tactical mind as well as good player welfare skills and helps out Ljubanik in both management areas. He has so far proved himself to be a capable aid.

Head Scout: Marcel Kuzbacher

Marcel Kuzbacher is a seasoned scout, mainly plying his trade for the famed Puljanka Academy. He has links with numerous players in the Mattijanan squad as well as the under-21 side and makes up the 3-man selection panel alongside Samikov and Ljubanik.

Fitness Coordinator: Jelena Neumanič

Jelena Neumanič is responsible for the diet and fitness of the squad, freeing up the main management team to think about tactical matters. She has a solid variety of exercises and is well-known for getting on player's backs if they don't keep up with their expected effort levels.

Psychologist: Samira Kazmir

Samira Kazmir is an experienced sports psychologist who has done work for both the summer and winter Olympic teams, the Mattijanan ITT side and the MRT motor racing team. She is responsible for the mental welfare of players, stretching from the collective mind-set to more personal issues for each individual in the squad. It's a far-reaching and often complicated task.

The Medical Team:

Head Doctor: Dr Charlotte Smitič
Assistant Doctor: Dr Mattias Buranov
Physio: Martina Laramazič
Physio: Mika Glasnić

The Players:
GK-Lucija Handanovic-#12-Age 28-FK Revinka
Understudy to Matej Handanovic for most of Ljubanik’s tenure, Lucija is favourite to start between the sticks for Mattijana in the upcoming qualifiers. The 25 year old has impressed for club side Revinka in the recent season with both solid performances and heroic clean-sheets and will be tricky to keep out of a starting place.

LB-Helena Neumann-#2

The Burges Player is a regular in the championship leading side and will provide a good defensive option with the occasional run forward to help out the wingers. Barring any injuries or unlikely suspensions, she will play all of Mattijana's matches,

CB- Rikard Illicić-#14
The first Mattijanan player to move abroad, specifically to the top dovision in Buyan, Illicić is widely expected to replace Edvard Crajasović in the starting lineup on the retirement of the current first choice centre back. He is modelled in a similar style as his older counterpart too. He's big, he's strong and despite being slower than other defenders, he is able to stamp his authority on attackers. Expect him to start matches, particularly against lower-ranked opposition.

CB-Katija Burnisevič-#4-Captain

Another Burges Player, Burnisevič is a potential answer to Crajasović's clumsiness and is a quick, skilful and sure-footed player capable of taking the fight to those attempting to run through. She is a dedicated player, happy to chase any lost cause until the ball crosses the line. Her lack of physical strength may be her weakness however and she could be a potential target for more powerful strikers.

RB-Kevin Krychowiak-#13-Age 24-Matbirjke
Another promotion from the under 23s, Krychowiak is a typical modern full-back with his pace and attacking mindset. It is his similarity to current starter Dominik Illisević that keeps him on the bench for now, but he is in Dušan Vukoja's plans this cycle both off the bench and perhaps even to start in games against lower-ranked opponents.

LM-Sophia Velezia-#16
A mazy winger with less raw pace, but the ability to turn any defender into a messy knot, Velezia is a constant challenge to keep quiet on her day and normally gets through at some point if she hits top form. Her mercurial nature is her biggest and arguably only weakness, but Mattijana will be well-placed if she can get it together.

CM-Marko Hojbjerg-#7

Now a mainstay of the team at the age of 27, Hojbjerg is a playmaker with good awareness and passing ability and is the perfect fit for Ljubanik's technical brand of football. Useful for connecting the more attacking players ahead of him, he is also integral in providing the start or the killer pass in a counter-attack. When no forward options are available, he's not afraid to hit one and occasionally finds the back of the net from improbable ranges.

CM-Katarina Jakupovic-#15
Former captain of Mattijana’s under-23 side, Jakupovic is a part of Vukoja’s turn to a more attractive style with Jago Adrianov, the midfield enforcer out and the instinctive passer promoted to a starting role. The 25 year-old Snezn player has impressed with both her technique and maturity in the early years of her career and is touted as a future Mattijanan captain after a successful run in the Under-23s.

RM-Jessika Struna-#9

A pacey winger who's preferred play is to make a run and then a cross, the 28 year old Struna is a dynamic and different part of the Mattijanan team. Tipped for a move to Petrovijanka or Burges, Struna chose to stay at Revinka, close to her family and in the town she loves.

CAM-Mattias Hoffman-#8-Age 26-Rapid Petrovijanka
Hoffman established himself as an impact player during the 79th cycle, scoring twice from the bench and making a substitute appearance in 15 of the 18 games. He offers a dynamic and direct approach when required and has cut open tired defences on a number of occasions. His consistency across longer periods has so far kept him out of the first team, but he remains a very useful and versatile player for Vukoja.

FW- Kara Lorenzič, age 24, Matbirjke

With Mathilde Lekarisa departing the Mattijanan setup in favour of the warmer climes of Saint Émelie, Matbirjken youngster Kara Lorenzič has been thrown into the starting line up for Mattijana. The pacey, direct forward was introduced on numerous occasions during World Cup qualifying and played reasonably well, offering a threat from the incisive through balls of the midfield and the testing low crosses of her wingers. Despite that, she is still young and the shoes of record scorer Lekarisa are big ones to fill.

The Bench:
GK-Matej Handanović-#1
The 31 year old Mattijanan number 1 plays under Matej Ljubanik at FK Petrovijanka and has been a solid, if unspectacular option between the sticks for most of his career. He has good handling skills and makes few mistakes, but could be replaced if he fails to make the spectacular stops expected of him. He may also face renewed competition from the younger and more dynamic Martin Vaskaric.

RB-Dominik Illisević-#5

Now a regular for FK Puljanka, Illisević is a punchy and pacey player with outstanding fitness and good crossing ability. His defensive technique is the biggest question mark, but if he can have a solid match at the back, he will undoubtedly be a danger coming forward.

CB-Ana Sevastova-#27-Age 22-FK Snezn

LM-Sofiane Bisrali-#6
From the less familiar setting of Shalkar in the South-East, Bisrali has the pace and skill that Vukoja is looking for in his wingers. Replacing the mercurial Sophia Velezia in the starting line-up, the 24 year old has a lot to live up to early in his career, but has the chance to do it on the biggest stage.

CAM-Juliana Kjofmann-#22-Age 26-Weststrand FK

FW-Andreas Weiss-#11

The 32 year old Burges Striker has been a fixture in the Mattijanan team for a while now and has matched his performances for the national side with consistent scoring form for FK Burges. He is a poacher with the ability to be in the right place at the right time for any pull-back into the box. Also a good header of the ball, Weiss will be an intimidating target for high crosses if the Mattijanan plan-B is needed.

ST-Daniella Alaba-#18-Age 28-Puljanka
It is difficult to tell where Alaba's strengths really lie as she is relatively quick, but not lightening fast and despite good strength, she is no match for more bulky defenders. Where she is effective is as a goal poacher, using positioning to find space to latch onto crosses and loose balls from fairly close range.

The Reserves:

GK-Martin Vaskaric-#19-Age 23-FK Antalja
LB-Lara Ljunavic-#20-Age 29-FK Revinka
CM-Jasmina Kovac-#24-Age 21-Ljubala FK
FW-Matej Jokic-#26-Age 20- FK SavaFluss

About Mattijana!

Mattijana is a large safe nation in Esportiva with a significant, but proportionate population. It spans a fairly large range of climates with the far north a colder area, the central region temperate, the south Mediteranean and the South-East semi-desert. Petrovijanka, the setting for this competition, is located almost exactly in the centre of the country at 214-232 metres above sea level. It has summer highs of around 28°C and lows of -5°C in the winter. There is a high level of sunshine for most of the year with precipitation mostly snowfall in the winter months.

Culturally, Mattijana can also be divided into six regions. The West of the country is largely Germanic whilst the centre North is a mix of Slavic and Germanic cultures, centred around Mattijana's second city, Burges. The North and East are more Scandinavian and speak Dansk, a language similar to Danish. The Centre (where Petrovijanka is situated) and the South are Slavic (similar to the Slovenian and Croatian cultures). There is an Arabic community in the South-East.

All Mattijanans speak the official language, Mattijanan. However, due to this not being spoken anywhere else in the World, English and German are well-spoken throughout the country whilst Arabic is taken on by the most intelligent students (in addition to English and German) as well as by those in the South-East.
There is no official religion in Mattijana due to this mix of cultures. Islam is popular in the South-East and parts of the South whilst some in the East follow the Mattijanan Orthodox church. Most people hold no religious belief, but believe in the universal philosophy of being kind, welcoming and helpful to others, known nationally as Jelenara. Even in religious communities, it is these principals that are most talked of with religious figures used to preach them.
Due to the mix/match nature of Mattijanan cultures and these philosophies, religious symbols are uncommon and religious tolerance is very high.

Attitudes to drink and sex are fairly liberal whilst there is good gender, sexual and racial equality. Social mobility is also good and the rich earn only twice as much as the poorest. Cannabis and similar recreational drugs are banned by law, with cannabis also forbidden for medical use.

The government follows mildly socialist policies meaning the tax rate is fairly high, but schools, hospitals and other public services are all well-funded and either free or reasonably-priced. Taxes on large businesses are higher than on small ones. The government building is the MattiStaja, which is situated on Staja square in the centre of Petrovijanka. All six regions have their own smaller congresses however. Politicians are generally appreciated and although public decisions are limited to elections and important political decisions where the main population is the most affected, most citizens feel well represented due to the numerous meeting and discussion opportunities with their local politician.
All parties follow a similar philosophy, but mainly disagree on where to fund the most. The MattijanaLeušaBuro is the current elected party and have an emphasis on public services, but other popular parties are the ViroBuro (who generally promote the needs of the environment) and the NašinalBuro (who promote funding for employment opportunities).

CEYNE ISLES
Preferred Formation:
4-4-2
Style Modifier: 0
Playstyle: Like a crap lower-league Nepharim team, because they basically are. Big, strong and hardy.
Kit Supplier: from Anglatia
Captain: Karsten Riordan
Nickname: the Pirates
Pronunciation Guide: "You'd have to be insane to live in Ceyne."

After a decade away, the Ceynes Isles are back to make a splash. Hopefully, anyway. More realistically they'll get pummeled, but still, any point will give the beleaguered, windswept island something to cheer about. It's not had much of those, lately.

Tactics
Image
First-choice lineup.
Built together through a handful of journeymen, most of whom have little professional experience. The Ceynes league is about as bad as professional leagues go, and while there's two sides from the capital, Falston, in the Nepharim lower leagues, they're mostly made up of, well, Nepharim. The Pirates have an excellent striker in Sophia Fortune, and the plan on the attack is basically just to get the ball to her. They're physical and their workrate is high, but the fitness of the locals may not be able to keep up with Brightwater's demands.

Staff
Manager: Monica Brightwater (NPH) - Age 59
Asst. Manager: Madison Forrest - Age 47
Brightwater is an experienced Nepharim manager with a somewhat mixed record. She was able to build Southfell United into a sturdy Premiership club, but lukewarm stints at AFC Treason and Eastweald proved a step too far. When an alright stint at Bishop ended, she wound up between jobs, and after a few years, this is the one that beckoned. Seen as a long-term planner.

Goalkeepers
1 - GK - Anna St. Preux - Age 30 - Ritter Town (NPH)
12 - GK - Everand Chinon - Age 35 - Falston Town (NPH)
18 - GK - Evan Merrick - Age 24 - Shrove Wanderers

St. Preux has overcome mental illness and injury to recover in her late 20s, moving from the local league to Falston United and from there, recently, to newly-promoted Ritter Town of the second tier. She's still inconsistent, and can have a howler or two in her, but on her day is a very handy last resort. Chinon is a steady pair of hands, and... that's about it. If Merrick's in goal, the Pirates are in trouble.

Defenders
2 - RB - Tanya Landon - Age 30 - Imperial Falston
3 - LB - Karsten Riordan (c) - Age 33 - Scaffield (BRE)
5 - CB - Providence Mensah - Age 28 - Leichhardt (NPH)
6 - CB - Tomas Spearman - Age 34 - Imperial Falston
13 - CB - Murgen Knox - Age 28 - Maal Daemons (MRN)
19 - RB - Corsica Greene - Age 23 - Roschester Pride
22 - LB - Gerry Dogberry - Age 30 - Falston Town (NPH)

The strongest part of the team, if a little uneven. Three players have top-flight experience. Mensah and Knox are a strong core - Mensah calm and commanding, Knox aggressive and murderous. Karsten Riordan, son of former Nephara goalkeeper Kieron, has a tenuous connection to the country (same with Knox) but a proven track record at the highest level. Greene, meanwhile, is the glaring weak link as things stand, but has the raw determination to claw her way to the top. Landon, Spearman and Dogberry are all veterans of the last campaign, and all dross.

Midfielders
4 - HM - Shay Wilshire - Age 34 - Imperial Falston
7 - RM - Jade Heller - Age 30 - Falston United (NPH)
8 - CM - Memphis Commons - Age 23 - Freeport Sharks
11 - LM - Rabican Monrow - Age 21 - Roschester City
15 - CM - Ray Aldridge - Age 24 - Falston Town (NPH)
16 - LM - Darren Grahame - Age 24 - Falston Town (NPH)
18 - HM - Kindness Nkembe - Age 34 - KF Niom (QUS)
20 - RM - Susanne Mpenza - Age 21 - AFC Shroveshore

The weak point of the squad. Kindness Nkembe, poorer relation of Temperance and Diligence (among others), is a calm and disciplined holding midfielder currently plying her trade in Qusmo, which has left her responding instinctively to neutral pronouns. The orthodox winger Heller's a lower-league veteran, a known but unpromising quantity. Commons is a sly, clever and streetwise box-to-box woman, Monrow a tall, lean and cunning winger. Mpenza's the most promising of the rest, and will likely be on the right in the future.

Forwards
9 - ST - Ansel Westerveld - Age 32 - New Rozelle
10 - ST - Sophia Fortune - Age 29 - Whitehaven Triumph (CEN)
14 - ST - Gideon Rowan - Age 27 - AFC Mosstown
17 - ST - Esther Fortune - Age 29 - Falston United (NPH)
21 - ST - Crowley Mathers - Age 22 - Roschester Pride

There is a very clear standout name here. Sophia Fortune is good enough to have been on the fringes of a Nephara callup recently, thought to miss out only because her abrasive personality clashed with the calm waters that Michael Brandon wanted to encourage. She's been a consistent goalscorer over the last few years of the Terranean League, direct and ruthless and selfish, and is the clear hope of the side. Mathers is, well, the best of the rest. Westerveld and Luther offer some tall timber on the bench, while the younger Fortune sister is a lot easier, helps keep Sophia in check and has a decent enough scoring record in the lower leagues.

It was a sad moment in a manager's career when the offers dried up, and for Monica Brightwater, that moment had come a couple of years ago.
Honestly, she'd had a pretty forgettable career for anyone but... her. She'd had some great moments, for sure. Taking over at Treason. Taking over at Eastweald. But then some less great moments, like being sacked at Treason. Or being sacked at Eastweald. Which pretty much summed up a Peter Principle of a career. By the time she'd started wondering if taking over a Razenthurian club was really beneath her, she knew she was cooked.
And then, two years later, she was hanging out at home, watching Netflix, scratching her cat's neck, when the call came.
It was her agent. Stefan Dytchon, a voice she didn't expect to hear again - after all, he had many other clients to attend to. Ones with job prospects.
But he was a direct man, driven and focused, and say what you would about his personal life; he knew not to bury the lead.
"Stefan. What can I do for you-"
"Next Campionato Esportiva. You can be there."

The catch was that it wasn't going to be with a squad that was... even remotely up to scratch. It was a handful of lower-league journeymen, and that was her experienced core.
She'd arranged a match, marketed it as those playing abroad against the best prospects of the Stellar League at home. The best prospects of the Stellar League, turned out; not great.
"The Stellar 5," she said, trying to sound optimistic. "Like the looks of her. Commanding."
"Yeah."
"What's her name?"
"Caroline Davis. 28. Spent some time in the B-League, in Brenecia."
"Well, brilliant, cons-"
"She's Brenecian."
Brightwater clicked her tongue. "Shit. That the famous Ceynes sense of humour, huh?"
Madison Grisholm, her irrepressible assistant manager and a survivor of Ceynes' last attempt at CE glory eight years ago, grinned feverishly. "Yeah, ma'am. Sorry, ma'am. Not much to laugh about, hey."
"So why the fuck is she here?"
"Eh. Well. It's not officially just a tryout, is it? And she's a real local favourite, best defender in the league, easy-"
"Alright, alright, don't rub it in."
Her humour was improved a little later, when Fortune chested down a long ball from Heller, Davis failed to deal with it and the striker hammered it past the unconvincing Merrick in the Stellar goal. For all their faults, at least they had a forward from the TL in their midst.
At least, that's what Brightwater thought, until Grisholm cleared her throat.
"Uh, no, ma'am, that's not Sophia. That's Esther."
"What."
"There's two Fortunes," said Brightwater, patience straining, "sisters, I'm guessing-"
"Twins."
"-and the one we've got here is the one who isn't from Whitehaven?"
Grisholm smiled, tersely. "Sophia didn't want to be interrupted on her holiday, ma'am. She figured she was gonna walk into the team anyway, so this was a waste of her-"
"Yeah, well, we'll see about that," Brightwater growled, just as the Stellar 9, Westerveld, sent a shot from inside the box into the stratosphere.
The match went on... predictably. Fortune caught onto a flick-on from Reed, a target man Brightwater thought promising until finding out he was 37, and volleyed it crisply past Merrick, who made a hash of stopping it. Merrick did better to deny her a couple chances to make her hat-trick, but the promising Stellar 11, Byron, limped off with a hamstring injury that later confirmed he'd be out for the tournament. Kindness Nkembe was dominating the centre of the park, which was a good thing, she guessed. A tidy tackle on Commons lead to a lumped ball to Grahame, who singed past Landon and rifled across Merrick, before a free kick from Aldridge was defended shambolically by everyone, and it was clear as the murderous Brenecian defender Murgen Knox (qualifying through his grandmother, allegedly) rumbled in that nobody was willing to get in his way for the sake of a mere friendly. He put his head through the ball - 4-0.
The guy in charge of the Stellar XI rang the chances, and there were at least some green shoots there. Greene and Mpenza, both very young, were combining well down the right wing; Monrow, on the opposite flank, had been lively. And after Nkembe was substituted off for someone much worse than Nkembe whose name Brightwater, Commons had found the space to thrive. A long clearance from Tomas Spearman, veteran of the last campaign, found her in the middle. She looked up, saw Mathers, another substitute, roving up front - and Mathers, unlike the others, had the mobility and the awareness to break away from her marks and run onto the ball, glanced behind her and flicked the ball along, onto the run of Monrow... who fired low and hard, with the bravery to make a difference, and made it 4-1.
It wound up 5-1 eventually, a 31-year old Falston United guy called Moran lamping one in from outside the box, but he hadn't impressed Brightwater beside that.
There were a few decent players, and a strong enough core - that's what the away side taught her. St. Preux didn't have much to do - it was another guy, Chinon, who conceded the goal - but the way she commanded her box was impressive, even if she commanded it largely by shouting. Knox and Mensah were excellent defenders for an unranked side, both with top-flight experience, both 26. Riordan had missed it with an injury, but was a Premiership veteran himself - obvious captain material. Nkembe, now playing in Qusmo, had enough to help shield them in midfield, and when Sophia Fortune deigned to show up, they'd have a very good striker for goals. And of course most of them came with baggage; Fortune and St. Preux were painfully volatile, Knox was possibly insane. But she had to rely on them anyway.
But what about when they were gone? No, it was the youths of the Stellar squad that appealed to her. That would be the future she would build.
Just like the glory days.

Soul-searching for the Patriots after a... let's say 'damaging' World Cup group exit, as an aging squad by and large just failed to score goals. Which begs the question; does Jim Reid have what it takes to regenerate this squad? Which begs the answer; yeah, of course, he won the World Cup with this lot. But then... can he? He can, right?

First Team and Tactics

Jim Reid is switching focus to a 4-2-3-1 in the hopes of more support up front, a bit more firepower, and some help in defensive midfield. The defence is strong and tight, the central midfield combining physicality and technique with the wingers the main creative outlets. Up front, the striker must forge something of a lonely path, pressing from the front and holding up the ball for support. It's a physically uncompromising, dour side. When they need to chase a match, Riordan can be thrown on as up front in a 4-4-2.

Staff
Manager - Jim Reid (PCR) - Age 54
Asst. Manager - Jess Curtin - Age 40

Jim Reid was the backbone behind the inexplicably successful Port Christopher national football team for years, a former striker who based his success on a simple, disciplined approach. He built his sides from the back, made sure everyone knew what they had to do and then pumped them up to a point where they'd run through walls, walk over coal and, more literally, form micronations for him. Perhaps the least glamorous manager in the world; perhaps one of the best in history. The astute former international midfielder Jess Curtin takes over as assistant.

Goalkeepers
Core
1 - GK - Rostyn Calhoun (Image Wexax United) - Age 31 - 47 caps, 27 clean sheets
While still prone to the occasional howler, Calhoun is a big, acrobatic lad who has largely impressed for the national team. In true Brenecian fashion, he's been something of a journeyman, but after winning his place in Wexax, hasn't looked back.

12 - GK - Lenore Drummond (Image Rozelle) - Age 31 - 5 caps, 3 clean sheets
A reliable, brawny goalkeeper, nothing fancy, just someone who doesn't make mistakes. Her distribution boils down to pumping it long down the flanks, but when it comes to keeping the ball out of the net, she'll do a great job. And, to be fair, she can kick it REALLY long down the flanks.

20 - GK - Cass Farrell (Image Northern Union) - Age 25 - 3 caps, 1 clean sheet
The main hope for the future, Farrell's a raw-boned, perhaps overly confident young goalkeeper. She's worked hard on the training field to hammer the errors out of her game, and is champing at the bit to earn her chance up front.

Defenders
2 - RB - Keziah Broxham (Image Mallox) - Age 24 - 39 caps, 2 goals
Broxham is not the nicest defender in the world. She's short, sharp, quick and decisive in her movements. If you don't mind a fair bit of needle in the tackle, and even off the ball, the lippy rightback's one of the most promising out there.

3 - LB - Gethin Quill (Image Revolutionaries) - Age 30 - 79 caps, 6 goals
Short and stocky, Quill's a quick, powerful runner and isn't afraid to show a little muscle defending his corner. A dirty street-fighter with the technique to back it up, exactly the kind of player everyone hates but secretly wants on their team. When Revolutionaries plucked him from obscurity, as he was cast aside in the aftermath of Union's disgrace, their fans were understandably sceptical. He won them over, fast.

5 - CB - Cheney Heneghan (Image Carsby) - Age 31 - 83 caps, 1 goal
A big, brawny defender, a man's man, all action all the time. Strong and tough comes standard for centre-halves, but fast is a nice boost on top of that. Just don't ask him to play the ball out.

6 - CB - Garwyn Varney (Image Soldarian FC) - Age 30 - 46 caps, 2 goals
Raw power, physicality and unbridled Brenecian sexual energy. Still a little clumsy and prone to bundling people over, but he's shed some of his coltishness with experience abroad.

18 - RB - Erica Weaver (Image North Hall) - Age 25 - 21 caps
Iron will, steely nerve and a calm discipline - Weaver's not someone to slip up or overcommit forward. She's not exactly a dynamic player, just a steady, cautious rightback whose pace and anticipation make her near-impossible to beat on the wing.

19 - LB - Morwen Prentice (Image Crystal Fair HC) - Age 23 - 35 caps, 1 goal
A lean, elegant fullback, comfortable with the ball at her feet. Still young and lacking experience at the top level, but her confidence and technique will take her far if she can sharpen up defensively.

22 - CB - Garrett Horgan (Image Northern Union) - Age 27 - 9 caps
A brawny enforcer who doesn't mind putting a bit of stick about. Horgan was one of Union's youth products at the time of their fall from grace; he had to put up with being shopped around on loan until his hometown club got back to the second tier, and ever since his return, he's helped them from that ignominy to a Champions Cup final. But he's the same bouncer as ever.

Midfielders
4 - DM - Roisin Staunton (Image Kingsgrove) - Age 29 - 47 caps, 1 goal
It's hard to step into national legend Catherine Gryphon's shoes, but Staunton has the attitude for it. A media-friendly model professional who runs one of the A-League's most active social media accounts, all without a PR guy. She's a quietly very capable screening midfielder, good in all aspects of the position.

7 - RM - Brae Crowther (Image Chenoworth Harriers) - Age 28 - 82 caps, 23 goals
Crowther is lightning-quick and cocky to a fault, always trying to make the difference on her own, and needs to be knocked down a peg. Sure, she's brash and arrogant both on and off the pitch, but it's that level of confidence that means she never goes missing on the pitch - and it never comes at the cost of the team.

8 - CM - Elysse Matheson (Image Hornchurch) - Age 23 - 15 caps, 6 goals
A pacy, frictionless midfielder, Matheson passed up the chance to develop at high-flying Rozelle to slum it at Hornchurch, doing the hard yards in Eura. It's already brought out a new dimension in her. She's not a passing playmaker, but a driving force from midfield, eager to make a mark on the edges of the box.

11 - LM - Cathal Keynes (Image Lajuno) - Age 25 - 46 caps, 13 goals
Tall, strong and powerful, Keynes probably looks more like a striker, but that loping stride masks a deceptive pace. Has steadily mastered a low, flat cross, and has a real eye for goal. He's quietly made himself indispensable to the side.

13 - CM - Corby Wheeler (Image Ramusok United) - Age 26 - 58 caps, 19 goals
A sharp, ambitious midfielder who is constantly darting in and about the danger zone. Has a great vision and a passing range that doesn't quite match it, and can fade out of games, but as a mercurial game-changer she's without equal in the side. Terrifyingly, she's found consistency in recent times.

14 - CM - Claire Ruskin (Image Kingsgrove) - Age 26 - 42 caps, 6 goals
A sturdy, tough-skinned box-to-box midfielder. Ruskin's not the sort to take a backward step either on or off the pitch, and while she can sometimes get tunnel vision for the goal - which is a relatively good thing now that she can actually... shoot - she tends to get the basics right. Maybe not the sort of player whose positive contributions are remembered by a neutral.

15 - RM - Lauren Cheney (Image Kingsgrove) - Age 22 - 14 caps, 4 goals
Much of the hope for the Brenecian future hangs on Cheney's broad shoulders. A street footballer at her heart, Cheney has a very un-Brenecian ego problem, and expresses it in very Brenecian passive-aggression and a need to work harder and better than anyone and everyone around her. Fast, tough, and with an eye for goal.

16 - LM - Ceridwen Fletcher (Image North Hall) - Age 21 - 5 caps, 2 goals
It's hard not to couch Fletcher as Cheney's opposite; a tall, elegant Northerner, less versatile or direct but with a peach of a left boot that can be rapier or sledgehammer, depending on what's required. Her potential is immense, and there's every sign she'll fulfil it.

21 - CM - Falcon Case (Image Barbury Town) - Age 28 - 57 caps, 11 goals
A classy technical midfielder, but Case can back it up with traditional Nepharim muscle, largely because he is Nepharim and only qualifies through ancestry. Tends to leave his mark on games, and boasts a thumping shot. Took a brief sabbatical from the side after recent tensions between Nephara and Brenecia (along with a poor showing against Banija), but returned with a vengeance.

23 - DM - Catsidhe Alweather (Image Eastal Lunar) - Age 29 - 67 caps
Alweather is definitely a player who has grown in stature over the past few years. Granted, her distribution is... uncomplicated. But she's an utterly ferocious defensive midfield terrier, something of a mouthy git, and with a penchant for flying into sliding tackles that catch more ball than man. She shuts matches down.

Forwards
9 - ST - Griffin Riordan (Image Mallox) - Age 28 - 80 caps, 34 goals
Riordan is burning with ambition, loves scoring goals and doesn't care who she has to shove to the ground to get it in the net. She became something of a hero during the World Cup, not so much for her ability but for her relentless determination and her refusal to be stopped. Ever. More than willing to do the dirty work, too.

10 - ST - Kara Ciogach (Image Southern Star) - Age 24 - 9 caps, 6 goals
The shining new hope of Brenecia's strikers, Ciogach is, typically, Schottic. She even won a couple of caps for them. Nevertheless, here she is. She's ambitious, strong despite a lithe physique, fast as hell, and able to finish with either foot or the head. This is her chance, and she has every intention of seizing it with both hands.

17 - ST - Niall Bremner (Image Unioneers) - Age 26 - 26 caps, 9 goals
A promising striker lacking any real subtlety. Tall, strong, fast and ruthless, preferring to lamp the ball powerfully into the net at any opportunity. He was rushed into the national team picture far too quickly; only now he's been given some time to breathe has he really been able to make an impact.

Legend had it that a team of plucky Sunrisians conquered the world twice, impressing bystanders and shutting down nay-sayers. Their grandchildren might have not taken the world yet, but they did manage to claw a Cup of Harmony, not an easy feat.

RP PERMISSIONS
As you might've noticed, this team isn't entirely human. Just wanted to point out they're still fairly close to being human, just in case and a brief search will give you a good idea of what they look like, plus you can ask me about them if you want. Please don't kill the players. Injuries for large stretches of time have to be informed by telegram, or else they'll get the ignore cannon treatment. Anything else (bar anything that destroys any city of the empire or its' people, just in case anyone gets a bit too creative) is fine by me.

APOX CAMPIONATO ESPORTIVA 24

Manager: Luxulya St. Cleer, Aged: 44
Assistant Manager: Sverre Devold (BYN), Aged: 46
Style: -0.5

Spiel: Luxulya St. Cleer led the national team to a storming home Quarter-Final in the World Cup as they managed to break the Apoxian hosting curse and not do terribly - going deeper in the World Cup than ever before. St. Cleer then stunned everyone by saying that the Campionato would be her last tournament of manager of the national team, and so it is a largely unrotated side which comes to Velestria to attempt to win the nation's fourth Campionato. By this point she's had quite a steady team and it's clear that this is not so much of a tournament to be used to blood inexperienced players (although Imhotep Jekyll has been left of out the squad, but he'll be back for the World Cup) but rather one with a clear aim - victory. St. Cleer has already done well as manager of the national team and she has cemented her place as one of the better ones, however a World Cup Quarter-Final and a CE victory in her last two tournaments in charge would cement her place as one of the best.

Formation
Image
Luxulya St. Cleer has seen great success with her 4-1-2-3 formation and so it is of little surprise to see her sticking to it for another cup. The first team is pretty settled, although the spectacular form of Jarls Magarhatery in midfield means he is likely to see quite a lot of gametime this tournament. Up front, the young dynamic pair of Cassiopeia Quintero and Clarissa Ephraim-Garza are the currently preferred wide players, with the excellent domestic form of Marcy Blake-Tatum in the last few years seeing her get the nod in a starting role over the experienced Lucan Palmisano. At the back, there may be some rotation.[/spoiler]

A concrete bohemoth, it is likely coming into its twilight years as several new Stadiums are ushering in a new age of Stadiums in Xanneria.

NOTE TO THOSE RPING A GAME VERUS XANERRIA

Xannerian Football is played differently than most countries. For one it is hyper offensive with most teams using either 4 or 5 forwards who run directly at the goal with balls being passed only when necessary. Defense is even more alarmingly different as Xanneria RARELY calls penelties on diving (unless injuries occur) and its actually common for players to attempt to bump other players out of the way, granted this is also heavily moderated (Shoving a player with your hands is a penalty and shoving a player perpendicular to you is also a penalty). International players are trying to surpress excessive brutality, but sometimes in the heat of the game they forget. So feel free to have some of my players get Yellow carded for aggressive play.

UNBELIEVABLE

Image

Dreamplanet was able to defeat favourites Apox 4-1 in a match to remember.

After seeing the draw, the Dreamplanet faithful didn't have much hope of advancing after being paired up with historic footballing powerhouse nations like Apox and San José Guayabal, however a hattrick from Luis Silva and a goal by Paulo Figueiredo was able to get a priceless victory against the CE 23 hosts.

Apox started imposing themselves earlier on in the match with Dreamplanet being suppressed to defensive positions, Luis Silva was able to score in the 13th minute after a counter attack, at this point Apox started to become nervous but still the attacking massacre that had been prominent, however Apox started to wear themselves out thin and as a result, Dreamplanet were able to impose themselves and make it evenly matched. Luis Silva was able to score later from a corner, while crossing it into the near post the ball unbelievably went straight in, Luis Silva had been able to double the lead with a goal directly scored from a corner.

Dreamplanet went on to defend their 2-0 lead and then was able to add on to it when Paulo Figueiredo headed in a corner, this time it didn't fluke in. As this got worse and worse for an already exhausted Apox, Marcy Blake-Tatum was able to spare their blushes with a chip over Filipe Vaz, scorning the erratic goalkeeper, both teams started getting even more exhausted as Dreamplanet dropped in efficiency and Apox weren't able to bomb forward as seen throughout the match so the match started getting stale, eventually Luis Silva was able to add the 4th with a close-range free kick after Brevin Scott tripped up Aaron Hungar.

Os Tricores have made us dream with this excellent victory over an Apox side who exhausted themselves while massacring the Dreamplanet defence, next up is a match against the returning San José Guayabal, with a win Dreamplanet will be able to seal their passage to the next round and if they don't win they will have one last chance up against the Fhulghamous Peninsula.

FILINDOSTAN
National Football Team
Campionato Esportiva 24

The Filindostan Football Federation is pleased to present the Filindostan National football team, to compete in the 24th Campionato Esportiva in Velestria. After another disappointing WCC campaign where they failed to qualify for the World Cup for the fourth time, and a Round of 16 exit, they are hoping to bounce back from the recent edition of the Campionato where they were eliminated from the group stages, failing to win any match in the tournament.

Image
About the Filindostan Football Federation

The Filindostan Football Federation (FFF) was founded after they split from the Filindostani National Sports Commission (FNSC), citing the FNSC's tainted image during the Multiverse Boxing.ccanization boxing tournament and the budget cut the agency suffered. The newly-established federation caters to the nation's footballing affairs and sanctions the selection of the senior, under-21 and under-15 squads. The FNSC will remain the agency for fielding other national football teams that are not sanctioned by the FFF.

The FFF's headquarters are located in San Marco, Filindostan, and is headed by Estrelitta "Estie" Barzagia.

Playing Squad

In Filindostan, people are often called by their nickname. Some players opt to put their nickname instead of the customary last name in their kits. The shirt names for the squad are noted by ALL CAPS. So for example, Alexander Jampang's shirt name in his kit is ALEX JAMPANG. Likewise Antonio Rafael Vera will have his kit name as TONYO.

After Ethel Toh took over the managerial duties, she ordered the change in kit names, bearing the surname of the player and the initials. For example, before the Toh era, Cahya Kartawijaya had her kit name as 'CAHYA', but during the Toh era, it is currently 'C.S. KARTAWIJAYA'. New manager Xavier Rinoso looks to keep the new trend moving forward, with one exception - singular names will be kept singular (e.g. Dwi, Sutikno, Siharto, etc.)

The following players are called up into the national team for the tournament.

The exile of several players under the Ethel Toh regime is over. Several key players return, as most of the players played under Toh kept their spot in the squad, though the only spot which was in need of a revamp was the central midfield. Bar Mordecai, other players slightly disappointed, and the return of the trio of King, Yakob, and Mohd Safri will help them rediscover the form they sorely missed during the period.

A problem that was evident was the lack of clean sheet in the entire qualification process. They only managed to record 2 clean sheets all season, and despite this, Rinoso decided to keep Abram and Cahya and call up only one of Gerry and Tonyo - the manager decided to pick the former for experience, and he will lean on the Perokojak keeper to restore the defensive confidence they somehow lost during their campaign.

The Filindostani Empress of Defence, Dina Satyawan, is rumored to announce her international retirement at the end of the tournament, and it would be a good opportunity for her to end her international campaign on a high with the Cup of Harmony winners's medal hoping to be included in her medal case with the Baptism of Fire winner's medal.

Goals was not a problem this season, though he might prefer the girl power partnership of Yish and Ina over the Perokojak partnership, which he may deploy in some of the matches in the tournament.

Kits

Local kit supplier, No Nonsense, provides the kits for the Pula Garuda. The kits will be used until the World Cup 82 season, where they are expected to switch to a new kit manufacturer. They have used the current kits from their debut in the Baptism of Fire tournament which they won. The home kits are clad in red and are usually paired with black shorts and white socks. For color clashes in shorts and socks, they use their all red kit. Their alternate kit is white, usually with red shorts and socks, but can be black shorts and white socks in case of color clashes. The goalie kit is all black (or in black shorts and socks), but in case of color clashes, a yellow version of the GK kit is available.

Team RP and Permissions
The below information will help teams RP against my team in case they RP first.

Lineups
After Twilight Striker's departure, Caretaker manager Ethel Toh preferred the old school 4-4-2 formation, though she sometimes adjusted the formation of the lineup to a 4-3-1-2 or a 4-1-3-2. She believes in the philosophy of a back four. Incoming manager Xavier Rinoso sees the benefit of the changes as they put up 11 wins during their campaign, though he is not afraid of mixing it up to a usual 3-5-2 or a 3-4-3.

The projected starting lineup is as follows, barring injuries and suspensions, unless noted for the upcoming matches:
4-4-2

C. S. KARTAWIJAYA

R. G. TESSIN -- D. N. SATYAWAN [c] -- K. WEICI -- C. LIKUMAHUWA

J. WEICI -- M. J. L. RIVAS -- H. E. TISANG -- D. CAMBO

M. L. STA. LUCIA -- I. TETERISSA

Play Style
The play style of the team is of a more attacking lineup, looking to score more goal scoring opportunities. The team usually utilize pacey wingers to deliver dangerous balls to the penalty box, usually during coordinated attacks. Filindostani players are usually physical, especially the defenders. Cautions are mostly common due to their physical plays.

Fans
Filindostani fans are double-edged swords - sometimes they are most passionate fans in Filindostan, sometimes, they can be compared to the worst of internet trolls. Around five thousand diehard fans will travel to the host nation to watch their team play - but they usually bring their megaphones and flares with them - they somehow make it past the guards. Some fans are crazy enough to invade the pitch and cause match delays.

Unused Kit Numbers
12 - Reserved for the 12th man (fans)
21 - Unofficially retired in honor of Lorenzo Mark MATIENZO

Part 1, WC82, Part 2, WC82, Part 3, RUWC 27

"Voters across the country have today had their say as Apox looks for direction from the future. With the vote taking place under the shadow of recent terrorist attacks on Government House, the campaign trail has understandably been heavily focussed on issues of national security and conversation over Apox's position in international affairs. First results are indicating a swell in support for the Green Party who have campaigned well under Matthias Sindelar, with voters deserting the Free Party after cabinet scandals and not flowing to the ANP following on from their mild response to the threat of terrorism after the worst attacks the country has seen since the Second Apoxian Civil War. We head now to James McBurton who is at the Free Party headquarters in Dwile with analysis as results begin to be counted..."
Vernon Berntsen lean back in his chair as the feed cut out from the Channel One studio in which he'd be presenting the results from. A voice from producer Nancy Mulligan piped in his ear,
"Good stuff Vern. We'll be with the guys in Dwile for a couple more minutes before heading to the count in Oxshott. They're expected first tonight."
"Roger that Nance. Gotta say I didn't expect this."
"Green victory? It's been all over the polls to be fair."
"Aye well, polls aren't everything. Didn't really think they'd be electable anymore after the damage Greybold did to them back in the eighties." Bernsten was an ANP supporter, and a staunch anti-war critic. The Second Apoxian Civil War, even though it had occurred when he was twelve, had always seemed preventable to him.
"We'll agree to disagree then on that." Vernon smurked. There was a reason he'd gotten so far in life - that diplomatic voice in the control room steadying his outbursts.
"Can I get another coffee in here please? Special blend."
"Righto Vern. Steady on though yeah, we've got a long night ahead of us."
"Mmph." The special blend was a tot of whiskey in his coffee, something Vernon had started doing years ago and regularly sipped down on in cutaways between segments. Nancy had regularly told him it tasted of catpiss but frankly, unless she had a habit of supping on that sort of thing, she was talking out her arse. An aide hurried up to him, coffee outstretched, whispering to him that it was two minutes until he was back on. He accepted the coffee and took a swig of the liquid. He checked his watch. 9:08pm. It was going to be a long night.

Matthias Sindelar was set up in the "war room" as some of the more over-enthusiastic members of his team liked to call it. In reality, it was his deputy, Shadia Holzhauser's office in Government House. They had lines set up here to the regional teams in place around the country and had been working on responses to various situations around the country as the votes came out. At the moment, things were looking pretty good. They'd run a strong campaign, by Matthias' own admission, and the people had responded in the voting booths it seemed. Early estimates showed them up by as much as fifteen percentage points around the country, and had done particularly well in Green Party Eastern Coast stronghold and Gwinevra. His phone buzzed, and he turned it over;
Lorcan Oberhausen, private
He frowned a little. Bit early on in the night for these sorts of calls. Best to not ignore the Leader of the Free Party for too long though, he thought as he picked up the call,
"Lorcan."
"Matthias." There was a short, tense pause, before Lorcan spoke again.
"I guess I should congratulate you on those exit polls. 34% isn't a bad number."
"Slightly under performing where we thought we'd be to be honest with you, but yeah, 34% I'll take it." He deliberately avoided bringing up the fact that the exit polls had shown the Free Party on 26%, a significant drop for the current biggest party.
"I'm sure you will. Look, this isn't a friendly chat between workmates, I wanted to offer you some advice."
"Oh? Well to be fair, I reckon we probably have more on our plates than just gossip tonight."
"Aye that we do. I'll cut to the point. This result will be the end of me as leader of the party, we both know that."
"Mmmm."
"They've been circling for months. Especially Winklebottom. It's up to you, but don't go into business with my successor. It will tarnish things for you." This surprised Matthias, in both the nature of the advice and the frankness of it.
"Well we'll have to assess the situation but..."
"I'm on the inside of this party Matthias, and I can tell you the next couple of years are not going to be pretty. I can't... and won't say any more than that, but trust me on that."
A pause.
"Alright."
"I'm not bullshitting you. No motive. I'm gonna be gone from all this in a couple of months, I just care about where the country goes next. Daramie [Jenkins, Leader of the ANP] is a good man."
"Thanks for the pep talk then boss. I better get back."
"Right. Me too. Oh, and Matthias?"
"Yep?"
"This conversation never happened." Matthias smiled as the line went dead. That was Lorcan to a tee. Always checking his back. Shadia was looking at him quizzically. Matthias shrugged.

"Lorcan." She knew better than to ask the nature of the call in a busy room full of players who didn't need to hear that sort of information.

Artur Winklebottom was furious. Furious at how shit the exit polls were saying his party had done in the elections - even worse than they'd expected. Furious at Lorcan fucking Oberhausen for leaving him out of the inner circle of discussions at party headquarters. Furious at the fact that this party, this country even, which his father had built had slumped from the heights it had once reached.

It didn't matter though. He'd been waiting for something like this, and he was damn well sure that he wouldn't fuck up what came next. He was in his own "election night" set-up, in his large house in the fancy Metro district of Dwile. His trusted advisor, Axle Montgomery, was there with him. He was a weasel of a man, standing somewhat shorter than Artur's own tall stature and with the personality to match, generally fawning and doing his best "school ground sub boss bully" impression to all those who he (i.e Artur) deemed to be below him. In all he was an abhorrence to be around but he had a function for now so Artur tolerated him. Or tried his best too anyway.

"I'm sure the results aren't as bad as they suggest Artur." The weasel piped up from his sofa seat next to the TV. With no response forthcoming, he continued rambling on,
"I remember the last set, the exit polls only had us on thirty three percent. Stupid useless experts with their fancy calculations, lost from the realities on the..."
"We did get thirty three percent in the last elections Axle, remember that?" The disgust quickly melted off his face, replaced with a pitiful looking expression which was slightly revolting to look at for more than about half a second,
"Oh calm down. They're expanding the number of Government Workers remember? We probably won't actually lose our seats as a result." The disgust returned.
"Watering down the talent in the seat of power. I never agreed with it personally, even if, in this instance, it might be useful..." he trailed off into silence as Vernon Berntsen droned on onscreen.
"Besides, this gives us a chance to rebuild the Free Party into something better. And then we can put in place the Apox my father really wanted to see, now that those old systems are gone. Axle, bring me my phone, it's time to put this plan in motion."

***

Vernon wiped the beads of sweat from his face, scrunching his eyes up in an attempt to focus. A glance at his watch. 4:29am. Who the fuck was still up watching a glorified powerpoint display at this point anyway. The political analyst on the team, Victoria Sweetenham was tap-tap-tapping away on her laptop next to him, trying to look busy when she was actually on her fourth, no fifth attempt of the night to come up with a suitable caption for a picture of her taken presumably some time in the recent past of her at the Moorton Lake Platypus Sanctuary for her adoring Instagram followers. He concealed a smirk, before a Nancy's voice piped up again in his ear.
"Alright Vern, here's the big one. Time to call this sonofabitch." He smiled for the first time in what felt like ages.
"Now that Nance, is some damn good news."
"Knew you'd be pleased. Info coming onto your screen now. Back on air in one minute." He looked down at the results which finally drew together the elements of the picture he'd been painting all night. Green Party - no.1 - just under 36% of the vote, 75 seats in the new parliament. ANP behind six percentage points, fifteen seats. Free Party four points further back and minus seven seats too. He reached for the coffee cup and more swigs of his own particular brand of poison.
"Coming to you in five... four... three... two... one... rolling."
"Welcome back everyone. With sixty-eight percent of ballots now counted, myself and the rest of the Channel One team are now able to call the result, details of which should be showing on your screen now..."

Unusually defensive matchup leads to loss

by Steve Stevenson of football.xan

VELESTRIA - A 1-0 loss to Newmanistan is how Xanneria will start their second Copa Esportiva. A match filled with optimisim, but twenty minutes a collision between mid fielders Trevor Gordin and Mark Hailey left Hailey with a concussion and Gordin with a wrist injury as he took a hard landing. This left Xanneria without one of its biggest stars and one of its better defensive players. Shortly after this Xanneria's old enemy, the weather decided to barge in and play ball. As it is well known when bad weather (in this case a bout of wind and some misting, but mostly wind), came in. The Xannerian attack could push the somewhat disenchanted Newmanistani defense but wind and slippery turf always held them back. But this also blighted Newmanistans progress as their players couldn't get into the Xannerian side with out some sort of slippage on turf. So with a nil-nil tie looking imminent it appeared that that would be the result. A sloppy game between over exuberant Xanneria and a lifeless Newmanistan, but then the injury between team mates that occurred, did end up having an effect. A Newmanistani Midfielder was able to out play both Jamar Lyman and Jason McMillan who were Gordin and Hailey's replacements. He hooked a kick that with Wind assist made it past poor soggy Evan Jefferson. Leading to what turned out to be the only score of the game. So it was a lifeless Newmanistan who overcame the happless, hurt, wildchilds of Xanneria.

THE COLONY OF THE FHULGHAMOUS PENINSULA
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

The Colony of the Fhulghamous Peninsula (Full-Gah-Moose) was first established on 6 December 2008, when Fleftic explorers landed on what was then a previously undiscovered continent. These explorers landed on a large peninsula that they named Fhulghamous because of its rich and lush green forests. One of the explorers then fell into an old mine shaft while exploring the peninsula and discovered that the entire peninsula was lying on top of one of the biggest diamond deposits ever discovered by mankind. Once the explorers announced their discovery to the Fleftic government, the Democratic Republic Army Corps of Engineers was quickly dispatched to help speed up the establishment of the colony by helping in constructing settlements and assisting in constructing mining facilities to extract the diamonds within the land.

The Colony of the Fhulghamous Peninsula was officially established as a colony of the Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft on 6 September 2010 following the signing of Democratic Republic Act No. 2340. The colony's capital would be Port Thimpodopoulos, named after Sergeant Major Pythagoras Thimpodopoulos of the Army Corps of Engineers, who tragically died of a heart attack during the construction of the settlement that would eventually bear his name. Today, Port Thimpodopoulos has a population of ten million, accounting for just under half of the total population of the colony. Other cities in the colony were Besanza, Tadoki, Haritzaga City and Thereisnogodabad, home of Multiverse Premier League club Thereisnogodistan FC.

The colony is under the leadership of Governor-General Petrarchos Kulbano, brother of Minister of Colonial Affairs Demetrios Kulbano. His rule saw the Fhulghamous Peninsula's ascent to being one of the most economically-productive colonies of the Democratic Republic, but due to the colony's distance from the mainland Governor Kulbano is slowly beginning to treat the colony as his own personal fiefdom. This was one of the reasons why he had decided to send forth a petition to send a national team to the Di Bradini Cup, the Multiverse's top under-21 football competition. Unfortunately due to some last-minute troubles, the Fhulghamous Peninsula's team was not allowed entry into the Di Bradini Cup, leaving many people in the colony a bit unfulfilled. But when another chance to send forth a national team revealed itself, Governor Kulbano was quick to submit his team's entry, and this time he made sure that the wouldn't miss out on another chance at participating in an international competition.

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of Nation: The Colony of the Fhulghamous Peninsula
Demonym: Fhulghamousian, Colonist
Team colors: Green and gray
Style modifier: +4.00 (Yet another very attacking side)
Manager: Orestes Katsouranis Jr. (57 y/o, Fhulghamous Peninsula)
Assistant manager: Paulus Wolf (55 y/o, Pridnestrovia)
Trainer: Wendell Beckett (73 y/o, Abanhfleft)

STARTERS
GK: CAPOEIRISTA
36 y/o, Airbus Fhulghamous Besanza Image, vice-captain
Bradini Vazconcelos Redentor, as Capoeirista is called in real life, is one of the better keepers playing both for and in the Fhulghamous Peninsula. Named after the well-known international football star Simone Di Bradini, Capoeirista seemed destined to play as a forward, but alas, he found himself more comfortable playing between the goalposts, and that was how he ended up playing as a goalkeeper. When he's not playing football, he teaches people in the martial art of capoeira, which is how he gained his current nickname. His capoeira skills have also proved intangible once he combined it with his goalkeeping training to become one of the best keepers in the colony, producing spectacular saves that are almost akin to martial arts moves. There's no question that he's a good keeper, but the team's performance in the recent Campionato Esportiva doesn't really reflect that, but it could be said that it's more the fault of the defense than Capoierista's personally. Can they improve in time for the World Cup qualifiers?

RB: Pau PALOMER 27 y/o, Thereisnogodistan FC Image (playing in the Fleftic Premier League)
Once again, nothing much distinguishes Pau from the rest of the center backs in the Fleftic sphere of influence. About the only noteworthy thing about him is that he shows excellent defensive skills for his age and has now become a starter for Thereisnogodistan FC. Why exactly he's still not starting is a bit of a mystery, but with John Montemayor looking more and more likely to announce his retirement from both club and international football anytime soon, Pau might soon just get the chance to represent the Fhulghamous for real this time.
UPDATE: John Montemayor has finally announced his retirement from international football, and Pau Palomer has been named the new starting right back of the Fhulghamous national team.

RCB: Naftali SINGERSTEIN 29 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image (Abanhfleft)
A promising young center back whom Sporting Ceneisis immediately snapped up as soon as the Colonists' campaign in the Campionato Esportiva was over, but then immediately sent him on loan to Oontaz Dert Li Ng's Botafogo de Maranao. Singerstein is the kind of center back to sit back and be the last man between the keeper and any marauding attackers, although a lot of times he has to be reminded that there is such a thing as the offside rule. If he does play someone offside, most often it will be by accident. Now back at Ceneisis.

LCB: John HAINAUT 26 y/o, Miroz Old Boys Image (Abanhfleft)
The other half of Fhulghamous's central defensive pairing. Hainaut has since picked up a contract for Miroz Old Boys in the second tier of Fleftic football. He's the kind of defender that moves up with the attack and takes the occasional long shot from outside the box from time to time, but he does well to go back to the defense when the opponent marauds up the field. Still, he's caught out of position more times than not, but he's young, and there's still time to learn how to be a proper center back.

LB: Tatsuo KAMAKURA 28 y/o, Marinos Thimpodopoulos Image (playing in the Fleftic Premier League)
Maybe an older, more experienced left back could've been selected to play for the national side. Unfortunately, a left back from the Fhulghamous Peninsula better than Kamakura hasn't been discovered yet, so the team will have to settle for him for the moment. But surely there must be some quality in him though as he's been signed by Marinos Thimpodopoulos, the surprise package of the recently concluded Fleftic Premier League season. An older and more experienced left back with championship-winning experience has now been found in Riuwiee United's Sokratis Tzorvas, but because Tatsuo has since proven himself capable for the Fhulghamous, Tzorvas will sit on the bench unless something bad happens to Tatsuo.

RM: Elliot EDISON 33 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Image (Abanhfleft)
Elliot is all about speed and pace. In the training grounds, he's almost as fast as the fastest man on earth, and no teammate has ever managed to beat his time in sprints. But in scoring goals, where it matters most, Elliot has been a little bit lacking. Sure, he makes good runs into pockets of space, but when it's time to apply the finishing touch, he just can't seem to find the back of the net more times than he does. The fact that people consider Elliot scoring 10 goals for Arsenal de Releinthi in a given season a milestone is an indicator of his lack of shooting prowess, which has led to confusion on whether he's more suited to be a playmaking midfielder rather than a goalscoring winger. He used to play for Abanhfleft in friendly games and a few qualifying matches but has since managed to shift his allegiance to the Fhulghamous Peninsula due to the fact that his grandfather Uriah Edison is now a colonial councilor alongside the likes of Rashidunnin Ali.

RCM: Kieran MOSKOWITZ 27 y/o, Polaris Image (Ceni)
Box-to-box midfielder who got a contract with Pridnestrovia's Palatine Opals due to his impressive work in the Runner Cup and the Campionato Esportiva. Looks to repeat his earlier heroics for the country in this Global Cup of Soccer. Finally earned a well-deserved move abroad to Polaris in Ceni.

LCM: Lucian VON FRANKREICH 30 y/o, Union Rheinburg Image (Pridnestrovia)
The other Fhulghamousian central midfielder was signed by another Pridnestrovian club, namely Union Rheinburg. Frankreich is a holding midfielder who can get the ball out of sticky situations and feed passes to the attack, although he is susceptible to being crowded out with the right pressure.

LM: Aidan POWER Jr. 30 y/o, Zoloroni Metropolitan FC Image (Mercedini)
The only mystery around Aidan Junior, son of local Nepharim legend Aidan Power Sr., is why such a good right midfielder such as himself has been passed over by almost every club that could possibly sign him. He's good enough to play for a Premier League side, but not even Godric Wexler and Arsenal de Releinthi had taken a chance on him. There must be an element to his game that has turned off teams to him. Is there hope for him to get a club this time around? Apparently there is, as Mercedini's Zoloroni Metropolitan has decided to take him onboard. He also used to play in right midfield but with Elliot Edison now cleared to play for the Fhulghamous, Aidan Junior will be moved to the left where he has shown flashes of even more blinding brilliance.

CF: SEBASTIANO Pelucci 32 y/o, Riuwiee United Image (Abanhfleft), captain
The other player who plays in the Fleftic Premier League, Sebastiano is a recognized striker playing for Riuwiee United, one of the top teams in the Fleftic top tier. He's got his fair share of goals for both club and country, and he'll be looking to add to his tally in the Campionato Esportiva.
IMPORTANT: This player should be referred as Sebastiano to differentiate him from his brother Salvatore Pelucci.

CF: Max FETFATZIDIS 31 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Image (Abanhfleft)
No one had been paying attention to Max before he helped get Marinos Thimpodopoulos promoted to the Fleftic Premier League, and his amazing 32 goals that season was enough to earn him a N$40m transfer to Rosenpfelblatz City. Max would've taken over Sebastiano Pelucci's spot, but Mephistopheles injured himself playing baseball with the Trendstart Conquistadors, so Max is starting for the Fhulghamous now.

RESERVES
GK: Timothy MERLINSON 24 y/o, Acoflosa United Image (Mercedini)
Timothy is an average goalkeeper in an average team, literally. There's nothing that sets him apart from other goalkeepers both in Abanhfleft and the Fhulghamous Peninsula, and while he may have once been part of Marinos Thimpodopoulos' academy and stood a good chance of making it into the first team, he decided to take his chances somewhere and requested that he be cut from the team. This resulted in him becoming a bit of a wanderer, flitting in and out of teams throughout the Fleftic sphere of influence, and this is also most probably what cost him the chance to take the starting spot in the Peninsular national team when Rashidunnin Ali decided to hang up his boots once again. But Timothy has appeared to have finally settled down with Mercedini's Acoflosa United, where he hopes to make an impacteven if it's just off the bench.

GK: Wanakamahaga DUDABULATULA 24 y/o, Charalambos FC Image
Dudabulatula (that's his given name, by the way) is the crown prince of the Ebolatuli, the largest local tribe living in the Fhulghamous before the arrival of the Fleftic colonists. The integration of the local tribes into the colony is a story that has a lot of twists and turns in it, but it's safe to say that the Ebolatuli are one of the tribes that have managed to survive the transition into the 21st century with their sanity and cultural identity relatively intact. They also took really well to association football, and Dudabulatula is just one of many young people from the tribe who are looking to get opportunities to see the rest of the multiverse through the medium of sport. Expect to see little of him, though, unless something bad happens to either Tim Merlinson or Capoeirista.
IMPORTANT: This player should be always referred to as Dudabulatula since Wanakamahaga is a clan name (used to refer to the clan as a whole and not just to a single member).

DEF: Einar CARLSON 33 y/o, West Releinthi City Image (Abanhfleft)
There's nothing much to distinguish Einar from all the other right backs in the Fleftic sphere of influence, but when it comes to getting the job done, he gets the job done come what may. Einar also used to play for Athletic Haritzaga (not to be confused with Real Haritzaga, another Peninsular team playing int the Fleftic pyramid) before making the move to West Releinthi, and his three years of residency in the colony made Einar eligible to play for the Fhulghamousian national team when it was first established by Governor-General Petrarchos Kulbano.

DEF: Kay STEENSEN 27 y/o, Inter Norgrad Image (Endelos)
Kay showed up for a trial session for the Fhulghamousian national team one day just wanting to watch who would get to represent the colony to the rest of the multiverse when a football rolled towards him and he decided to play around with it and do a few dribbles, rabonas, and other such stunts. This attracted the attention of Governor-General Petrarchos Kulbano, who was busy assembling the team, and a Rosenpfelblatz City scout by the name of Matthew Cave, and Kay found himself in both teams that same afternoon. Unfortunately for Kay, skills could only take him so far on the pitch for Rosenpfelblatz, arguably one of the top teams in Abanhfleft, and he found himself going to Underfell in Anglatia alongside Abanhfleft under-21 starlet Jeanine Stober in exchange for making permanent the then-two-year loan of Under-15 World Cup bronze medalist Blaze Chrzanowska. But following anti-Fleftic sentiments in Valeria at the end of the Nordskanian War (due to Abanhfleft's non-interference with the Pridnestrovian invasion of Nordskania despite the Treaty of Politovskaya which is basically now just a fancy piece of paper), Kay is on the move once again, this time to Inter Norgrad in Endelos.

DEF: Brando QUITAIN 18 y/o, Utica United (Osarius)
NOTE: Pronounciation of his name is KEY-tah-EEN

DEF: Aziz ZAMAN 29 y/o, Sarvusdalamoive Image (Abanhfleft)
Aziz used to be one of the hottest young defenders in Abanhfleft, and by hot I mean that he had world class potential in all those football video games people love to use to predict who will become rising stars and who will be destined to become flops. Unfortunately it appears as if Aziz is headed for the "flop" route as his time in Sarvusdalamoive has been limited even as other Fleftic Premier League clubs keep raiding the Pinks for their top talents now that they've put an end to their reputation as a yo-yo club. Still, because of a lack of defenders willing to represent the Fhulghamous (Evangelos Christodoulopoulos being a prime example), Aziz keeps his place in the side for now.

MID: Samson LOVEJOY 33 y/o, Keephall Vikings Image (Abanhfleft)
In the few appearances for the Fhulghamous that he made from the bench, Samson showed that he was a capable defensive midfielder with a capability to send in shots from beyond the box and it was for this reason that Keephall picked him up to bolster their team in their campaign to return to the Fleftic Premier League (a job which they still haven't achieved after almost ten years of playing in the Unang Liga, the second tier of Fleftic football).

MID: Ferdinand TAVISTOCK 31 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image (Abanhfleft)

MID: Brendan MEEKS 30 y/o, AC Sainati Image (The Askari Union)

FW: SALVATORE Pelucci 31 y/o, AFC Langtree Image (Mercedini)
Salvatore, Sebastiano Pelucci's twin brother, can play both as a central forward and as a winger, but he is truly most effective playing up front. He and Sebastiano used to be teammates in Riuwiee United before Salvatore was unexpectedly cut from the team by Georges Leblanc back when the Frenchman was still managing the Blue Tribesmen. Salvatore kept his footballing skills sharp by suiting up for amateur Fhulghamousian sides until Mercedini's AFC Langtree finally offered him a permanent contract to play for them. It looks like he likes being in Mercedini at the moment.
IMPORTANT: This player should be referred as Salvatore to differentiate him from his brother Sebastiano Pelucci.

Arena Marinos is the home ground of both FC Marinos Thimpodopoulos, which plays in Abanhfleft's Premier League (first level of the Fleftic football league system) and the Fhulghamous Peninsula national football team. It has a total capacity of 35,673 spectators. Now back in service after a magnitude 6.2 earthquake caused part of the stadium's roof to collapse and devastated the capital city of the colony, necessitating a lot of repairs.

Richard Dawkins Park has a capacity of 23,171 spectators. Following a magnitude 6.2 earthquake that devastated Port Thimpodopoulos, all Fhulghamous Peninsula home matches were held in RDP in Thereisnogodabad while repairs were being made on Arena Marinos. With Arena Marinos now fixed, both the Fhulghamous Peninsula Football Association and Thereisnogodistan FC have reached an agreement in which RDP will serve as an alternate venue for national team games in recognition for the time that Richard Dawkins Park served as the home stadium of the national team following the earthquake.

THE CHIEFDOM OF COPPER CUPRUM
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

This is the nth time that Copper Cuprum will be participating in the Campionato Esportiva. Copper Cuprum had been long isolated from the international community since it is a small island archipelago located deep in the middle of the Lazarus Ocean, far from any regular shipping lanes since man first sailed ships. The nation was only discovered by the Fleftic Navy in 1914, when they were searching for the daughter of President Rufus Wole Mensah, whose ship was wrecked in the general vicinity of the islands. Arriving in the capital of the islands, they discovered that Chief Zed had made the President's daughter his queen, generating a sudden alliance between the two countries. And Copper Cuprum was also rich in copper, so that was a good thing for Abanhfleft too...

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation:
The Chiefdom of Copper Cuprum
Demonym: Copperite
Kits: The Copper Cuprum national football team does not wear any kits as ordinary people know them. Instead they play wearing only white loincloths, studded shoes, shin guards. The keeper also has gloves along with the aforementioned kit.
Team colors: Black and white
Style modifier: +1.00 (A balanced team with a slight focus on offense)
Formation: 4-5-1
Head coach: Jefferson Kalangitan (55 y/o, Oontaz)
Notes: It is Copperite tradition to slit the throat of a live chicken before a game and then spread the spilled blood on the field. However, after the Valladar authorities advised the Copperite Football Federation against performing this tradition after local audiences were shocked by this tradition, it has been decided that in place of this tradition, Copperite players will now cut off the head of a rubber chicken before a game and then toss the head around like a hot potato. However, Copperite players will now perform the chicken sacrificing ritual whether or not the other team likes it. The Copperites hope to turn this tradition into their version of the haka. Also, this is Kalangitan's first head managing job after the Malabon SC assistant manager accepted to take over the Copperite side following the sacking of Duke Dorogi Dorogo due to the team's poor results in the Campionato Esportiva.

STARTERS
GK: Enera TEMOYO
37 y/o, Athletic Wa Gon Image
Quite short for a keeper, but he does the job well enough to be the starting keeper for Athletic Wa Gon, the marquee team of the Copper Cuprum National League. But this doesn't mean much as the National League is considered as the least competitive of the leagues in the countries within Abanhfleft's sphere of influence.

RB: Tumoka BATUBA 33 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz North End Image (Abanhfleft)
Solid right back, but still quite raw for his age. Sometimes advances a little too far into the offense to the other backs' liking. Thinks of himself as a wingback, but simply doesn't have the speed or the feet to get quickly between offense and defense and can't make a cross to save his life. Still gets lucky sometimes, though.

RCB: Ziketsy TUKUKU 24 y/o, Copper Cuprum Halal Commission Image

LCB: Derek CHIDAGI 34 y/o, Miroz Old Boys Image (Abanhfleft)
An immigrant to Abanhfleft that decided to play for his motherland after all. He's probably the only really good defender in this lot, and therefore bears the brunt of the defensive work for the team. He still has his problems, though, meaning that he will think nothing of tripping up any opposing players that are goalbound. Will probably concede a lot of penalties.

LB: Esteke INANUK 38 y/o, Handon United Image (Schottia)
Not really the best defender in Copper Cuprum, but certainly not the worst one either. Truth be told, though, he only looks good because many of his other teammates are shit. Placed in a world-class back line, he'd be the first player that disappears from notice. But when Inanuk performs well, he performs well and in a sublime manner. Earned a well-deserved move to Handon United in Schottia where he has been quietly doing his job as always.

RM: Boyote TOROTO 35 y/o, Sporting Busov Image (Abanhfleft)
Holds the midfield good enough, but still makes mistakes from time to time. Attacks from time to time but really hinders more than helps.

CM: Tabaré ZUÑIGA 38 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image (Abanhfleft)
Now that Prince Deg's favoritism for members of his personal retinue his injury woes have finally been cleared up, Tabaré is finally getting that well-deserved spot in the starting eleven, but it may have come too late for Copper Cuprum though, as Tabaré's already 34 at this point in time and he's not going to get any younger. He used to be more of a box-to-box midfielder but age has caught up with Tabaré and the team now relies on him being the rock in the midfield between the Copperite defense and the opposition's attack.

LM: Morefor TOFODO 37 y/o, General Santos F.C. Image (Oontaz)
Doesn't show up in big games, yet doesn't show up in minor games also. Surprising why he got included in the starting eleven at all. The fact that he's part of Prince Deg's retinue may have something to do with it, though. But now we know why Tofodo starts for Copper Cuprum: it's because of his wicked good set pieces. Free kicks, corner kicks, penalty kicks (when Prince Deg is unavailable, of course); you name it, Morefor Tofodo can actually take it.

RW: Opatop LAZAROVSKI 34 y/o, Sheriff Tiraspol Image (Pridnestrovia)
Half Pridnestrovian and half Copperite, he almost played for his father's country before Prince Deg conferred upon him a peerage that convinced him to play for Copper Cuprum. He is a half-decent winger that nevertheless will not be able to get into the starting eleven of any other nation in the world.

CF: Chief DEG 36 y/o, unattached, captain
The Chief of Copper Cuprum himself. Chief Deg is also the head of the Copperite Football Federation, a position that he created by royal decree after creating the federation, also by royal decree. He bills himself as "the best center forward in the multiverse," but so far he hasn't done anything to back up that claim. At the moment, even Abanhfleft's Kareem Dagen plays better than Chief Deg.

LW: Tyrone ZUDAZET 37 y/o, Gyouza Young Lads Image (Abanhfleft)
Another member of Prince Deg's retinue that nevertheless deserves his place in the starting eleven. A landed noble with a barony under his fief, Zudazet is half-Fleftic and plays for a club in the Democratic Republic while at the same time flying the Copperite flag proudly.

SUBSTITUTES
GK: Nikoba LOBATO
23 y/o, Athletic Wa Gon Image

GK: Torege BITAMBO 32 y/o, Sporting Busov Image (Abanhfleft)
Backup keeper, currently serving as Temoyo's understudy. Could become next national keeper if something very bad happens to Temoyo. Luck (and time) don't appear to be on his side though as he has been displaced from backup keeper to reserve goalkeeper by Temoyo's actual understudy from Athletic Wa Gon, Nikoba Lobato.

DEF: Tenoka ITORO 35 y/o, Gryphons Nubalochi Image (Oontaz)
Described by Prince Deg himself as "The Big Man." Competes with Desoka for the honor of being like Adebayo "The Beast" Akinfenwa. Pushes opponents left and right for a bit of morning exercise. And don't get me started on calisthenics.

DEF: Lazar DENISOV 23 y/o, Admiral Tuzla Image (Pridnestrovia)

DEF: Idaran SOBODO 37 y/o, Pamunas F.C. Image (Abanhfleft)
Some of the players in the reserves are only there because there is a need by the World Cup Committee to have enough substitutes in every position. Sobodo is filling in for one of those emergency positions. But looking beyond Prince Deg's obvious favoritism tough task of organizing a capable Copperite team, Sobodo does have his uses, mainly attracting yellow cards and red cards from the referee. But when he doesn't find his name in the book, Sobodo does a good enough job of pumping crosses into the box and tripping up the opposition players trying to do the same in the Copperite box.

CM: Amitu SUDEBA 32 y/o, Ken Gon United Image

MID: Sitere BUWATA 33 y/o, Duhblakk Rovers Image (Abanhfleft)
This kid has a future in midfield, what with his flashy playmaking style. He's only in defense because he's been put there by the Fleftics at Duhblakk. Turns out that was only a move to improve the defensive side of his game, and with six years gone, surely Buwata has finally hit his peak?

MID: Umaga HAROBA 31 y/o, Athletic Wa Gon Image

MID: Paul MAGINOO 22 y/o, General Santos F.C. Image (Oontaz)

FW: Aramok TODEYET 33 y/o, Union Rheinburg Image (Pridnestrovia)
We need backup forwards, even though none of them can possibly replace Prince Deg in the starting eleven, unless of course the Prince gets injured.

FW: Douglas JAMESON 23 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image (Abanhfleft)

FW: Wesley WEYLER 23 y/o, FC Afa-az Image (Abanhfleft)

FORMATION

Princess Hawana Stadium (capacity 57,104) is the new Copperite national football team's home stadium. Located in Bed Gon, the second largest city of Copper Cuprum, it is also the home ground of Atletico Bed Gon of the Copperite National League.

RP PERMISSIONS
Anything except killing is fair game. Also, Prince Deg is unavailable for transfer.
The Chiefdom of Copper Cuprum
Leader: Chief Deg

Client state of the Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft

QUALIFIED FOR THE FIRST TIME

Image

With a 3-1 win over San José Guayabal, Dreamplanet finally qualified from the group stage.

High in confidence and optimism, Dreamplanet were able to get the job done on the first time of asking after beating San José Guayabal 3-1 with goals from Luis Silva, Aaron Hungar and Miguel Benedito, however things started off badly when Marco Palacios scored in 7th minute after running past Jorge Cardozo with a good through ball and slotting it past Filipe Vaz. Os Tricores' overconfidence had cost them as they thought that they had already beaten San José Guayabal, Rodrigo Vaz calmed the squad down and Dreamplanet responded by having a flurry of shots, however a good display by Ricardo Costa saw them either go wide or saved. Eventually Os Tricores did pull through with Luis Silva blasting a shot from outside of the box in sheer frustration as the goalkeeper had saved 2 of his shots so far, the match was all square at half time with the teams evenly matched despite the history aspect being lopsided in SJG's favour.

The second half went as well as any Dreamplanetian could've hoped for, straight after kick-off, Aaron Hungar went on a dream run through the stunned defence and chipped Ricardo Costa to put the lead in Dreamplanet's favour in 7 seconds, San José Guayabal had been completely ripped to shreds as they were unprepared, Dreamplanet took a more defensive approach and San José Guayabal attacked cautiously, trying not to be worn out like Apox had been the match before, Os Tricores stubbornly held SJG out and despite dangerous chances by Marco Palacios and Kevin Santos, the Dreamplanetian bus never budged and the net never buckled, anxiety built up in anticipation as the Dreamplanetians knew that automatic qualification was on the line and in their favour and with the Fhulghamous Peninsula taking the lead in their game, they knew if they were held back by San José Guayabal that they would have a tough time against the Fhulghamous Peninsula in a decisive game, however with a deflected corner late on, Miguel Benedito scored with not much time left and the Dreamplanetians could finally breathe a sigh of relief as they knew what they needed to do was done and the dream lived on.

Meanwhile, the Fhulghamous Peninsula beat Apox 2-1 to book their appearance in the Round of 16 and sealing one of the unlikelier top 2s possible, Os Tricores will play them next for first place in the group and Apox will play San José Guayabal for 3rd place that could, and with wishful thinking, get them into the Round of 16. Regardless of what happens against the Fhulghamous Peninsula, Dreamplanet can finally be proud of the national team as they go on in the tournament and hope to have a tournament to remember in what already is their best showing in the CE.

Velestria – Campionato Esportiva 24 National Selection

Velestria — The National Team
The New Reign

A new national team manager took the reins for the Cup of Harmony in Schottia’s Jane Gullie and although she didn’t guide the team out of the group stages there’s plenty of reason to be excited for this manager as she comes and tries to change the team’s culture. There’s suddenly an actual reason to be happy for the national team and even though riots and problems have shook the nation prior to the start of the Campionato Esportiva, this can be a chance to rally the people and to bring cheer for the nation. The national team has a chance to bring a reeling nation together, and it been drawn into a tough-ish group, slated to play with heavyweight side, Filindostan which hit has met many times before for Velestria. In a reasonably tough group, Velestria has a chance of getting out if it works on clamping down with defense and finds a way through to the next round.

Team & Tactical Information
The saying goes don’t change what works and clearly if anything there’s a defense that for the most part works for Velestria, sure some shifting might be needed to really assemble an all-around well-oiled machine that can click for the tournament but Jane Gullie should stick with what he got thus far, and she has some nice pieces to play with on the team. Selection camp reaffirmed much of the old guard sits well with the new regime of the Schottian transplant managers, Chris Banker the shot-stopper who surprised everyone and took Diamond Gregory’s starter spot during World Cup qualifiers has been called up after yet another good domestic season, at 29 he’s almost over the 30 year old range but for the future he seems to have that position on lockdown. A big look should be put on the offense, shifting up to the top, Augusta Clark is the clear goal-scorer on the team, with the change to a 4-3-3, who’s going to be the wingers and how will they help the attack? The attack should still run through Furusawa Utamara and Augusta Clark, and we saw some experimenting with that during an international friendly last December between Velestria and Tulize, Clark’s goal in the 57 minute game off an assist from Hoyt Acovina who was experimented with at right wing. And finally, who’s going to be the captain of this squad, Chris Goddard announced his plans to retire from international football early and wasn’t called up to selection camp although there are rumors Jane Gullie has contacted him in case of his need, many call for him not to be used, calling him a symbol of “Mendez’s disassociation with the nation.”

    Style modifier: +3
    Rank: 99th (KPB: 7.11)1
    Usual formation: 4-3-3
    Record Since The Shift: 0-0-0
Tactical breakdown: Jane Gullie is done experimenting. That’s being shouted from the roof tops and yea, we saw her do it through for games but she seems to have settled on what works best for the team and for her direction of the team; the nucleus seems to have stayed the same but we’re seeing players move around to more comfortable spots and new players are getting a chance to prove themselves off the bench, a great example could be seen with Hoyt Acovina, probably a larger focal point Gullie wishes to improve with over the course of years to come, he’s played in every game either off the bench or starting in all four games thus far Gullie has managed. There’s really been a connection between the bench and with the leadership from Gullie as she looks to create a new national team. Of course, the back is in good hands, expect Chris Banker and Diamond Gregory to share duties during the group stage as they look to take a big start against ROBOSTANIA on the third of Jano. The backline is led by Haroni Beaver who plays for Athletic Letson Town of Ethane; our neighbors who are unfortunately not going to be precedent at this year’s CE. Beaver looks to take the bigger role in the defense as Matt Borell comes back into the fold only arriving back from injury last month, Beaver looks like he’s poised to make a big step in his career. In addition, Davis Larson who quietly had himself a good season has played his way into the Starting XI and will likely find himself having starters time. The midfield is firmly anchored by the presence of Furusawa Utamara whose goal-scoring knack has dimmed in recent times but he looks like he’s going to be just fine, able to compete and easily dominate the field. At the front, Hoyt Acovina is going to need to feed, feed, feed to Augusta Clark who’s looking like she wants to poach as many balls as possible.

SELECTED BIO

Chris Banker
Goalkeeper, 27 Club: Peachtree City F.C. Caps: 17, clean sheets: 8
International Debut: –

He’s already proved he’s the best for Velestria, Chris Banker enters as the clear-cut number one for the job and he deserves the spot, Peachtree City’s been blessed by his appearances throughout the season, he’s kept them in so many games and helped enable the side to a spot in the UICA Globe Cup next season, at 29 he’s got some moreeeee time to head the frontlines and he’s really going to want to make a statement going into World Cup qualification. The qualification cycle is really starting to heat up and its clear Velestria’s number one and Diamond Gregory are engaging in some arguments on the field with their performances, it’s going to be hard to choose who keeps the spot but neither, especially Banker, can afford to put a stain on their reputation at the CE. The nation is expecting a quarterfinals appearance out of Velestria, what’s to say if they can’t even get out of their group? If that happens, then we need to really be reevaluating the entire goal-keeping set-up Gullie’s been running and find new goalkeepers for the national team. But, aside from that there’s no reason to have distrust in thee proven leadership of Chris Banker at the back of the net, I think if we have him starting all three games then Velestria will easily march on to the next round.
