Value, singularWashington Resistance Army wrote:

Probably, but I'd be a little more understanding, since the arguments about LGBT and abortion rights are, ya know, about protecting people rather than inanimate objects
Anyways, can we conclude pt. 10,273,273,484,152,494,070,142,189,153 of "everyone is tired of Tel badly pretending he's some kind of moderate or liberal or whatever and being mad when challenged about it" because it's just so tiresome and Tel really is not interesting enough to merit this much conversation

Thank you all, for giving me such support. I'll continue to ask you for support when I need it, and am proud to have spent my formative years on NS, it has been my primary social life. But now it's time to evolve past that. I am a very flawed person with many mistakes. I want to rise above them, and take responsibility for all my past mistakes.
I'm still staying on the site and will be on it as much as usual, though!
I'm just thankful I got to meet all of you.

So the thing is student debt is usually considered "safe" as far as investing in debt goes (or however that works) so wiping it off will trigger a pretty dramatic economic collapse.

Well, that's the other side of it, as they're federally guaranteed debt if we wipe it out...doesn't that mean we have to make lenders whole in the process, sort of in the same way they're made whole when we default? It's a tricky proposition.

Yeah, almost certainly. Though, hell, just some more national debt eh?

“It is difficult for me to imagine what “personal liberty” is enjoyed by an unemployed hungry person. True freedom can only be where there is no exploitation and oppression of one person by another; where there is not unemployment, and where a person is not living in fear of losing his job, his home and his bread. Only in such a society personal and any other freedom can exist for real and not on paper.” -J. V. STALIN

Hell, I own plenty of government debt. True story. That doesn't mean I greatly enjoy adding to it. That's how you get the Great Depression, invisible debts shifting around like nobody will every have to pay them off.
