  • Associations ranked 1–4 (Nephara, Eura, Brenecia, and Capitalizt SLANI) are allowed to enter four teams.

If both titleholders fail to qualify, Nephara’s fourth-placed team will enter The Globe Cup group stage and Nephara will receive an additional place in both The Champions’ Cup and The Globe Cup. The Series B Champions’ Cup 71: Every association is allowed to enter three teams. Multiassociational leagues with two primary associations may enter six teams, of which no more than four may be from the same association.
The Youth Cup 26: Every association is allowed to enter one team. (The youth teams of clubs which reach The Champions’ Cup group stage will also be entered.) Multiassociational youth leagues with two primary associations may enter two teams, which must be from different associations.
  • Atlov Juzuna is assured a place in The Youth Cup. If it does not qualify as champion of its domestic youth league, Qusmo will receive an additional place in the youth champions’ path. If its senior team (Atlov) qualifies for The Champions’ Cup group stage, it will enter the Champions’ Cup path instead.

Procedural Notes:

  • The entry of South Birkdale (The Cross Islands) was rejected as the aforementioned club qualified through a play-off, which is explicitly forbidden by the entry regulations.
  • The entries of Ponyville United (Equestrian States) and TBD (Cosumar) were rejected as both associations failed to submit their cup results.
  • The entries of New Lions Club (Tinhampton), Ōtachi Audfort (Saltstead), and Sassari Trailblazers (Omerica) were accepted on the condition that for next season their respective FAs submit their cup results according to Cup Winners' Cup regulations. Failure to comply with this provision will result in the exclusion of their entries for next season.
  • Spartangrad (Eura) were entered into the competition as titleholders, despite the Euran FA forgot to include them in the relevant entry papers along with their cup winners.
  • Esrille Town (BPE) were entered into the competition as Beepeean Cup winners, instead of Silver Wattle who were initially entered as cup winners.
  • Mont Vincent (CSA) were entered into the competition as Côte d'Saphir Cup winners, instead of Athos who were announced as cup winners before this post. Athos will take part in the 49th Cup Winners' Cup unless another club wins the Côte d'Saphir Cup before the deadline expires.

Welcome one and all to the forty-eighth edition of the Cup Winners' Cup, brought to you by the Valladar Football Association. This edition of the competition will see 40 clubs from 39 associations participate, a decrease of 5 clubs and 5 associations from the last edition, with Spartangrad entering as Cup Winners' Cup titleholders despite failing to qualify through the Euran domestic cup system. With 40 clubs taking part in this edition, the cup winners from the sixteen lowest ranked associations in the latest UICA coëfficients will take part in the preliminary round, with the 8 winners joining the remaining 24 clubs in the first round proper, from where the competition will be played in a straight knockout format. Current Cup Winners' Cup titleholders Spartangrad are big favorites to retain the Cup Winners' Cup trophy, although clubs such as Capitalizt SLANI's Flanders FC and Pasarga's CA Paulinthal are potential challengers this time. Final Site Election

Two FAs (Siovanija & Teusland and Vilita) expressed their interest in hosting this edition's final and sent their bids within the deadline, being accepted by the Organizing Committee. The members of the Organizing Committee then decided to invite one delegate from each contending bid to a meeting at a prestigious, 5-star hotel in downtown Metropolis. What neither delegate thought was that they were going to be the ones in charge of cooking the meals the Organizing Committee members were to eat during the meeting, and both had to cook a full course meal (entrée, main course and dessert) for the audience. At the end of the meeting, the Organizing Committee evaluated the meals cooked by the delegates and voted for their preferred meal, with the one having the most preferences being chosen as the winning bid. Thus the stadium that will host the forty-eighth Cup Winners' Cup final will be Draistadion in St. Jakob, Siovanija and Teusland (cap. 60,000).

Baranil and Wara-Salas are proud to announce the mergence of their leagues

After much discussion between the two associations, the Baranillian Football Association and the Wara-Salassian Federation of Football have come to an agreement that they will merge their leagues into one league system. Due to this, the original plan for the Baranillian football pyramid has been scrapped and the Liga Supre and Liga Nacionale Playoffs have been planned to go ahead 7 weeks before the season starts.

Liga Supre - 20 teams (38 games)
2 qualify for the Champions Cup, 6 qualify for the Globe Cup and 6 qualify for the CMFA Champions League* whilst 4 teams get relegated.
-All Liga Baranil teams
-The 8 Liga 1 teams who avoided the Playoffs
-The 2 teams who won their Liga Supre Playoff match

Liga Adalente - 22 teams (42 games)
4 teams get promoted whilst 3 teams get relegated.
-All Liga Nacionale teams
-The 2 teams who lost their Liga Supre Playoff match
-The 6 best performing non-reserve teams in Liga 2 last season

Liga Nacionale - 20 teams (38 games)
3 teams get promoted whilst 3 teams get relegated.
-Both Wara-Salassian reserve teams
-The 2 worst performing non-reserve teams in Liga 2 last season
-The 16 teams who won their Liga Nacionale Playoff match

Conferenzie - 16 teams (37 games)
3 teams get promoted whilst 4 teams get relegated.
-The 16 teams who lost their Liga Nacionale Playoff match

Liga Intermedio - 72 teams (2 conferences - 36/37 games)
4 teams get promoted (2 per conference) whilst 0-8 teams get relegated (0-4 per conference).
-All Liga Regionalles A teams

Liga Regionalles - 128 teams (8 conferences - 30/31 games)
0-8 teams get promoted (0-4 per conference) and no teams get relegated as this is the lowest tier of the Baranillian/Wara-Salassian football pyramid.
-All Liga Regionalles B teams

Cup Structure:
Qualifying Round - 128 teams (All Liga Regionalles teams enter)
Preliminary Rounds - 192 teams (Teams in tiers 2,3,4 & 5 enter)
Round 1 - 96 teams
Round 2 - 48 teams
Round 3 - 36 teams (The 12 Liga Supre teams who failed to qualify for the CC or GC enter)
Round 4 - 24 teams (The 6 Globe Cup Qualifiers enter)
Round of 12 - 12 teams
Quarter Finals - 8 teams (The 2 Champions Cup qualifiers enter)
Semi Finals - 4 teams
Final - 2 teams
The winner of the Final advances to the Cygnus Cup

*Teams who qualify for the CMFA Champions League will likely also qualify for either the Globe Cup or the Champions Cup.

The 48th Cup Winners' Cup

Final
Played at Draistadion in St. Jakob, Siovanija and Teusland

(EUR) Spartangrad 0-1 Flanders FC (COM)

Congratulations to Flanders FC on their first Cup Winners' Cup victory, thwarting Spartangrad's ambitions to become the sixth (and second Euran) club to have defended successfully the title won in the previous season.

Notes for Cup Winners' Cup Entry

  • Each association may enter ONE club into the Cup Winners' Cup, with the exception of the Paripana Sporting Council which may enter one club in addition to Flanders FC.
  • Should Flanders FC win their qualifying national association or league cup, the spot held over for a second Paripanan entrant will be vacated.
  • Clubs can only qualify through ONE domestic cup competition.
  • Each user may enter clubs from no more than two associations. Puppet nations must be declared upon entry.
  • With the exception of Flanders FC, all entered teams must have won a national association or league cup; Super Cup winners and winners of play-offs cannot be entered.
  • Entrants must be posted in the International Domestic Soccer NewsWires (i.e. this thread), and at least the last three knockout rounds of the domestic cup tournament (i.e. quarterfinals, semifinals, and final) must have been scorinated and posted (with a link in the IDSN if it is posted elsewhere).
  • The deadline for Cup Winners' Cup entry will expire at the conclusion of the UICA Super Cup.

Stadium bids for the final of the 49th edition of the Cup Winners' Cup are now being invited. Only stadiums with a minimum capacity of 30,000 people will be eligible to bid for the final, and bids should be posted in this thread with relevant details of the stadium and its facilities. In the event that no bids are presented, the selection will default to Alexander I National Stadium in Swangard, Valladares (cap. 95,000).

THE LEAGUE OF ESPORTIVAN CHAMPIONS

Procedural Notes:
  • The entries of Ancherion, AC Lopel and Sorial Suns, were understood to be separate teams. Teams should be separated using commas (,) or slashes (/).
  • Only one bid was received by the Damukuni Football Association to host the CEdC final. That bid, automatically winning, was Apex Arena, Libon, Dreamplanet.

IMPORTANT BULLETIN REGARDING CHANGES TO THE CEdC.
Beginning with the 31st edition of the CEdC:
  • Preliminary Rounds will be played *only* until 16 teams are available.
  • The Round of 16 will be replaced by a Group Stage, consisting of four (4) groups of four (4) teams each.
    • The top four (4) seeds form a pot, followed by the next eight (8) seeds, then the last four (4) seeds.
    • Teams will be drawn such that no team from the same football association can be drawn into a group. The next available group will be selected for a team that would otherwise have to face a team from its own football association.
  • Each team in the Group Stage will play the other teams in its group twice (once home, once away). The top two (2) teams will advance into the playoffs from each group.
  • Teams will be re-seeded out of the group stage such that:
    • tiebreaker criteria (goals for, goal difference, HTHs, and away goals) are honoured, and
    • no two (2) teams from the same association (where applicable) can meet in a quarter- or semifinal match.

Campionato Esportivano di Campeones
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. TWO TEAMS MAY ENTER. Each football association residing in the region of Esportiva is entitled to send two (2) teams from its domestic league into the Campionato Esportivano di Campeones (the "Contest").
    1. The first team must be a league regular-season champion or the winner of a post-season play-off, except as noted in section C of this rule.
    2. The second team must qualify on sporting merit, such as being the second-place team in the final league table, the playoff finals loser, or, if a post-season play-off is held, the regular season winner, except as noted in section C of this rule.
    3. EXCEPTIONS.
      1. APERTURA-CLAUSURA STYLED LEAGUES. Leagues with two distinct halves may, at their association's discretion, submit the two winners of each half, unless the same team wins both halves of the league, in which the football association reserves the right to send a second team on sporting merit using the criteria above.
      2. LEAGUES UTILIZING AN EXTRANEOUS POINT SYSTEM. Leagues using special points systems for determining post-season play should submit the top two teams at the end-of-season special points table. An example of an extraneous point system is the Damukuni Football League's Championship Points System.
  2. ENTRY FORM. Each football association must preface its entrant within a box as follows:
    Samplestan (XYZ) qualifiers
    CEdC:
Sample United FC, Sample City FC

If this rule is not followed, the entry form will be voided and your teams will not be able to participate. NOTE: Other competition qualifiers may be listed in the same box.
  3. SUBMISSION CUTOFF. The posting of the UICA Super Cup shall serve as the cutoff point for submissions into the Contest. Late entries that precede the Contest's Access List may be counted at the discretion of the Event Curator.
  4. FINAL SITE BIDS.
    1. Any resident of the region of Esportiva may submit a final site bid for the Contest.
    2. REQUIREMENTS. A final site bid MUST include:
      1. The stadium name and its location (at least a city name, if not also a state, province or territory name or street address).
      2. The stadium capacity. Stadiums must seat at least 55,000 fans.
      3. A picture of the stadium. The picture should blur out any real-life stadium names or national flags, and should be scaled to have a height of approximately 300 to 400 pixels. Stadium pictures MAY be hidden behind spoilers.
    3. RECOMMENDATIONS. The Damukuni Football Association, as Event Curator, recommends, but does not require, a final site bid include a short description of the stadium and any famous football-related happenings there.
    4. DEFAULT SITE. The default site, if no bids are submitted, is Naruto Shinagawa Field, Atarashii-DaMashuto International Stadium, Atarashii-DaMashuto, United States of Damukuni.
  5. QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS. Questions and comments about the Contest can be posted on the International Domestic Soccer Discussion thread, or telegrammed to Damukuni directly if you wish to keep your matter private.

CEYNES SUPER LEAGUE - SEASON 73 PREVIEW

After years of preparation, the Ceynes Super League is finally up and running, ready to at the very least compete on the regional stage! Twelve teams, thirty-three rounds, one winner - and an eager swarm of locals who are more than ready to watch the Isles make their mark on the international scene. Without further ado;

Brunswick Town
Home Colours: Green / white / green
Away Colours: Yellow / green / yellow
Stadium: Stonebrick (12,000)
Nickname: the Rangers
Manager: Barry Hagen (59)
Starting XI (4-4-2): 1 - Shane Hollingshead (31, BRE); 2 - Brun Enkelmann (31), 5 - Louise Keith (33), 6 - Malakai Bittermann (28), 13 - Karl Shacklebolt (34, BRE); 7 - Franziska Westmead (23), 4 - Erika Teasdale (32), 15 - Gretel Dunne (27), 11 - Amelia Gryphon (24); 9 - Lysander Berenger (25), 13 - Catherine Archer (24)

Background: Brunswick is a large, growing town south of Roschester, home to a moderately thriving community who have largely sidestepped the recent troubles - struggling farmers have often made their way to Brunswick in search of stability. This will be Town’s first season in the Super League, perfectly timed to coincide with joining UICA.

Summary: Brunswick aren’t likely to pull up many trees after promotion, but they’ve made some stable recruits to build on young, homegrown stars like Gryphon and Archer, the latter of whom massacred the National League with a scarcely-credible 27 goals from 32 appearances. So they have the flair, and with the addition of Hollingshead and Shacklebolt on frees from Brenecia, look stable at the back; at least, provided Shacklebolt’s still got the legs to put in a shift. The central midfield is untouched, and looks weak, but Hagen’s direct tactics seem tailor-made to bypass them entirely. They should be alright.

PREDICTION - 6th.

Falston Bohemians
Home Colours: White / black / white
Away Colours: Red / black / red
Stadium: Carson Alley (11,500)
Nickname: the Bohemians
Manager: Emery Saunders (42, NPH)
Starting XI (4-4-2): 1 - Catherine Ramson (25); 2 - Nikita Bronte (24), 5 - Aidan Evangelou (28), 19 - Holly Gunstock (27), 18 - Rachel Bastoni (21); 13 - Russ Cohurst (33), 6 - Iris Hawkshaw (24), 8 - Evan Nemeth (30), 16 - Neil Flannery (26); 9 - Sherry Haukmann (26), 11 - Alexandria Chesser (37, CMT)

Background: The hipster choice in Falston, the one that doesn’t get you punched. United and Town play in the Nepharim leagues and hate each other, as well as the nouveau-riche Imperial. Nobody hates the Bohemians, largely because nobody cares enough about them.

Summary: To spice up what would most likely be another season floating around midtable, the Bohemians came in big to snap up former Chromatik international Alexandria Chesser. It’s not that Chesser particularly pulled up trees in her career, and might well fail to do so here - she is, after all, 37 - but it’s about what she represents, as a Ceynes side feeling empowered to look abroad for talent. But the classy, versatile forward isn’t the be-all and end-all - Bohemians otherwise offer a bright young team playing aggressive, hard-nosed football under the bright, young, aggressive and hard-nosed Emery Saunders, who arrived at the start of the season after a hugely impressive Third Division season with the little-fancied Fully Sick XI. Another veteran in Cohurst has also been lured across, and between them and the fresh locals, the Bohemians should steer clear of danger.

PREDICTION - 7th.

Freeport Sharks
Home Colours: Sky blue / navy / white
Away Colours: Orange / black / orange
Stadium: The Tank (15,000)
Nickname: the Sharks
Manager: Judith Griswell (53)
Starting XI (4-4-2): 1 - Greta Malinder (26); 17 - Merry Driscoll (21), 5 - Kurtis Leitner (25), 6 - Darren Redknapp (31), 7 - Memphis Commons (23), 4 - Gough Ramsey (32), 8 - Natasha Portsgate (29, c), 13 - Sandra Tapster (23); 9 - Lyn Bogarde (32), 15 - Kayla Cardiff (26)

Background: Freeport is a small and traditionally anarchic port town in southern Ceynes, one that has traditionally made itself known as a tourist hub. You can get pretty much anything there for entertainment, and the locals know it. The Sharks have always gone for a fittingly entertaining style of play, and of late, given Freeport’s rising influence in the country, success has started to become an expectation.

Summary: After a quiet off-season, the Sharks go into the new season revitalised, with a few key young lights having another year’s worth of invaluable experience under their belts. Much is expected of the mercurial Memphis Commons, an undeniable talent who is surely going abroad sooner rather than later and already has First Division links, while Tapster on the other flank isn’t to be underestimated - all the creativity comes from the wings. There’s questions, however, at both ends of the pitch - Greta Malinder’s never really convinced as a number 1, while Lyn Bogarde was decidedly off the pace last season. Will Griswell pay the price for keeping the faith in the old warhorse?

PREDICTION - 4th.

Imperial Falston
Home Colours: All-white with purple trim
Away Colours: Black / black / white
Stadium: Golden Gate (28,000)
Nickname: Imperial
Manager: Cathleen Sharpe (59)
Starting XI (4-3-3): 1 - Grey Thistleman (29); 2 - Tanya Landon (29), 18 - Marietta Klein (23, NPH), 6 - Tomas Spearman (33), 3 - Clarisse Henderson (26); 8 - Shanna Quarterstaff (25), 4 - Shay Wilshere (33, c), 11 - Chloe Shufford (25); 7 - Cassius Hereford (28), 21 - Gideon Rowan (26), 10 - Bryson Curtis (31)
Notable Reserves: 5 - CB - Bors Longman (37)

Background: Imperial are the big dogs of the Isles, and have whole-heartedly embraced Anglatian influences. They’re a definite Marmite club, hated by pretty much everyone outside their fanbase, but even their fiercest detractors can’t deny that they give the league energy no other side can.

Summary: Imperial remain Imperial, and it’s only a surprise to see them fail to dip their hand into the bag of talent abroad. They’re poised to be the Isles’ first representatives in the CEdC, and they have the grit to back it up, with seasoned defenders like Landon and Spearman backed up by North Sabrefell academy product Marietta Klein, a fresh signing after her release from the Premiership club. Mostly, though, Imperial are used to dominating domestic opponents, and Gideon Rowan is an inspired pickup from Pride. Maybe not inspired in the sense of the imagination, but he’ll get the goals they need.

PREDICTION - 1st.

Meade Rovers
Home Colours: All indigo with white trim
Away Colours: All white with indigo trim
Stadium: Manna Park (10,000)
Nickname: the Rovers
Manager: Gideon Rutland (45)
Starting XI (4-3-1-2): 20 - Fiona Henshaw (23); 2 - Christos Revell (31, ETN), 5 - Adrian Leonhard (30), 13 - Annegret Guire (35, BRE), 3 - Luke Farrant (25); 7 - Dion Bragg (32), 4 - Shane Petrie (26), 10 - Eleanor Caversham (24); 8 - Lucia Marlborough (25); 9 - Bruce Rindaroy (28, ETN), 21 - Gretchen Britliff (24)

Background: Meade is traditionally one of the more affluent towns of the Isles, the natural crossroads of the northeast rural area, and a traditional retreat for those with money. Much of the Rovers’ support comes from those farming communities coming to Meade to watch, and it’s proven a robust source of potential players over the years.

Summary: With a canny manager in Gideon Rutland and shrewd foreign signings, the Rovers are taking their return to the top flight seriously. It was an overreliance on veterans that lead to their relegation in the first place, and while a few of the old names remain - Dion Bragg, perhaps, a question mark - Rutland’s faith in the likes of Henshaw, Caversham and Britliff was what hauled the Rovers back at the first time of asking. With a lethal-looking rightback in Revell and the high-level experience of Rindaroy, combined with the grist at the back of Annegret Guire, the Rovers ought to have enough about them despite a somewhat patchy squad.

PREDICTION - 9th.

AFC Mosstown
Home Colours: All green with white trim
Away Colours: Blue / white / blue
Stadium: The Ridge (8,500)
Nickname: the Millers
Manager: Arran Cohen (64)
Starting XI (4-1-4-1); 12 - Rasmus Garrick (22); 2 - Ivan Stoneshoe (28), 5 - Clifford Russ (30), 6 - Cherami Barr (36, c), 16 - Jess Jackson (23); 4 - Rook Whitman (35, BRE); 32 - Leigh Arnham (19), 8 - Roxana Clarke (26), 14 - Harrison Enfield (29), 11 - Rutger Margetson (26); 10 - Joseph Luther (32)

Background: A small town whose identity is firmly interwoven with their beleagured football club, one that has tended to stick it out in the bottom half of the CSL. People from Mosstown are hard-bitten farmers and coal miners, and have a siege mentality against pretty much the entire rest of the world.

Summary: One senses this could be a year too far for Mosstown, a side who just don’t have a lot going for them - even the weary legs of Rook Whitman appeared to be slowing towards the end of last season, though the former A-League player is still their shining light. One thing’s for certain, though - the Millers are going to leave no stone unturned in search of survival, and the surprising pickup of Roxana Clarke from Falston Town underlines their commitment to survival. Joseph Luther’s ability in front of goal, meanwhile, can’t be questioned. There’s good players here, the issue is the dross they’re surrounded by - and with strong promoted clubs, it might just be the end of the road.

PREDICTION - 12th.

New Rozelle
Home Colours: Burgundy / white / burgundy
Away Colours: All white with burgundy trim
Stadium: Heathcliff Row (18,000)
Nickname: the Swans
Manager: Elsa Walker (51)
Starting XI (4-3-3): 12 - Sherman Wood (31, ETN); 2 - Priscilla Conlan (25), 5 - Henrick Beattie (29), 6 - Paula Vauxhall (24), 3 - Anselm Culverton (24); 8 - Luna Jessen (26), 4 - Roy Bueskens (31), 13 - Gudjon Letonien (30, SLL); 22 - Tamsin Malwick (23), 9 - Ansel Westerveld (31), 10 - Portia Bailiff (22)

Background: Named after the capital of Brenecia, New Rozelle is Ceynes’ third city, and probably the one that benefited most from Ceynes’ brief Golden Age of foreign investment. Unlike Falston and Roschester, New Rozelle’s citizens really only have the one club to represent them, and thus back them with enviable fervour and unity.

Summary: If anyone is to challenge Imperial, it’s likely to be a sharp-looking New Rozelle. Elsa Walker’s made judicious use of the market to sharpen at both ends - Sherman Wood’s probably a capable goalkeeper, though he struggled for game time in Ethane, but the real star is the mercurial playmaker Gudjon Letonien… just so long as they can get a tune out of him, which has historically been easier said than done. The fact that he’s here straight from the Legaskari should hopefully be a wakeup call. Between a firing Letonien and lightning-quick wingers in Malwick and Bailiff, there should be no shortage of chances from international striker and obvious target man Ansel Westerveld to sweep home.

PREDICTION - 2nd.

Roschester City
Home Colours: Yellow / navy / yellow
Away Colours: All black with yellow trim
Stadium: The Aviary (21,000)
Nickname: the Eagles
Manager: Nadia Carrick (37)
Starting XI (4-4-2): 1 - Pamula Spake (31, CMT); 2 - Cyrus Colland (26), 5 - N’golo Bournemouth (32), 6 - Lyle Humboldt (34), 3 - Sutton Burnes (25); 7 - Nicola Keane (23), 4 - Jarvis Donnell (31), 8 - Lyndis (27, DAI), 16 - Rabican Monrow (21); 9 - James Cronin (27), 17 - Dietmar Sattelmaier (22, NPH)

Background: Traditionally the other big power of Ceynes football, City is the biggest club in Roschester and likes to style itself as the ‘true defender’ of Ceynes football - not cleaving into the Nepharim pyramid like Falston United or Town, not ‘selling out’ like Imperial. They’ve always been willing to look abroad for the talent to make the difference, rather than within the league like Imperial.

Summary: Under the watchful eye of the canny young manager, Nadia Carrick, City continue to build towards a title challenge. As is Carrick’s way, she’s built from the back, bolstering an experienced defence with the journeywoman goalkeeper Pamula Spake. But there’s plenty of goals further up the pitch, too - the Daineri Lyndis is perhaps the best player in the league right now from early signs, sharp and lithe with a foot like a feather, while crafty local winger Rabican Monrow is surely bound for abroad. Up front, a lot rests on the shoulder of Dietmar Sattelmaier, brought in from the Nepharim lower leagues and already on the fourth club of his career. On the whole, there’s more than enough to suggest City are a force to be taken seriously.

PREDICTION - 3rd.

Roschester Pride
Home Colours: Purple / white / purple
Away Colours: Yellow / black / yellow
Stadium: Lion's Vantage (17,000)
Nickname: Pride
Manager: Theresa Wilhelm (43)
Starting XI (4-4-2): 1 - Mathom Drury (25); 2 - Esther Comstock (27), 5 - Clement Rinehart (28), 19 - Persephone Wright (23), 22 - Corsica Green (21); 7 - Tamara Rutherford (24), 8 - Blake Findlay (28), 6 - Jeorge Morgan (24), 11 - Jane Wyclif (31, c); 9 - Mia Foreman (33), 14 - Crowley Mathers (21)

Background: Pride will bristle at any mention of being Roschester’s second club, but, really, they know their place in the food chain. They survive as a seller’s club, being the most prolific producer of talent in Ceynes, and they harbour ambitions of perhaps janking a CEDC place and getting their name out in the public eye.

Summary: Pride are looking good this season, and in typical fashion have weathered the departure of young striker Rowan with bringing through another young local talent, the lethal Crowley Mathers - he and the brash personality of Corsica Green are the real stand-outs this generation. Pride play a fast, aggressive style, quick on their feet and breed their talents the same way, no matter where they wind up. Theresa Wilhelm’s a firm but fair taskmaster who lets her players express themselves however they want, just so long as they work hard; it’s those kind of fundamentals that get you success in this league.

PREDICTION - 5th.

Shrove Wanderers
Home Colours: Red / black / red
Away Colours: White / red / white
Stadium: Sojourn’s End (7,500)
Nickname: the Wanderers
Manager: Joanna Alderwood (43)
Starting XI (4-4-2): 1 - Evan Merrick (24); 2 - Brigitte Burnside (25, NPH), 5 - Asger Hewett (31), 6 - Portia Donnell (28), 22 - Cecilia Falkirk (24); 13 - Scout Bonds (24), 4 - Kirsten Dogberry (30), 10 - Valerie Avery (24), 11 - Ronan Hertner (29); 7 - Promise Clohessy (27), 9 - Sasha Prutton (28)

Background: The ‘town’ of Shrove is really two separate entities, with a fair stretch of nothing separating the inland part of the town with the port. It’s not a large place, and it tends to be more a crossroads where people stop through but rarely stay. The town is proud of their Wanderers, but the side struggles to be competitive, and often yo-yos between the top two tiers.

Summary: The Wanderers are, unfortunately, likely to struggle this season; if nothing else it’s an excellent opportunity for Evan Merrick, a national team goalkeeper, to prove he’s as good as the coaches say. They have a few decent players, Burnside has experience in the Nepharim lower leagues, Bonds and Avery could be set for greater things, but at the end of the day there’s that lack of cutting edge up front. Not for a lack of effort, but bluntly, neither Prutton nor Clohessy is a proven scorer at this level. Joanna Alderwood will do her best to offset this and has set her side up to be compact on the defensive and spring forward to counter, but that only means as much as they can turn it into goals.

PREDICTION - 11th.

AFC Shroveshore
Home Colours: Teal / white / teal
Away Colours: All black with teal trim
Stadium: Valourbank (9,000)
Nickname: the Waves
Manager: Casper Jewett (48)
Starting XI (4-2-3-1): 1 - Marian Craddock (29); 17 - Andrea Clarrett (21), 5 - Ryan Beck (34), 6 - Brad Hoffmann (31), 3 - Espen Heffernan (22); 4 - Henriette Anderson (28), 11 - Sigrid Xenophon (27, NPH); 22 - Susanne Mpenza (21). 8 - Drea Cruickshank (23), 10 - Saskia Hemingway (26); 9 - Rachel Xenophon (29, NPH)

Background: Shroveshore are, aptly, the representatives of the sprawling port of Shrove. They count upon a substantial immigrant population, as well as the locals who are largely involved in dockwork and fishing. While the club is not traditionally particularly good, they’ve done well for themselves in more recent times, and were beneficiaries of the foreign investment.

Summary: Shroveshore’s challenge remains survival more than glory at this stage, and pragmatic recruitment is focused primarily on players who are good in the present day than in developing new blood. That suits the fans just fine - attitude in the stands is that they’re just happy to be here - but an increasingly ambitious boardroom may not agree. The challenge, then, falls upon Casper Jewett’s shoulders to instill his disciplined, steady approach into local talents who are, perhaps, not the strongest with discipline. The Xenophon sisters are their strongest assets, with the technical, skilled Sigrid joining her target woman sister Rachel this season, while for attacking inspiration they’re fortunate to draw on the freewheeling Susanne Mpenza. All in all, it should be more than enough for survival… but that’s about it.

PREDICTION - 8th.

Wyndham Athletic
Home Colours: Yellow / green / yellow
Away Colours: All navy with yellow trim
Stadium: Ursus Point (8,000)
Nickname: the Bears
Manager: Tamara Felix (47)
Starting XI (4-4-2): 1 - Richard Corrigan (25); 2 - Rhys Collingwood (28), 5 - Jade Falconer (24), 13 - Kennedy Walker (22, VLZ), 3 - Cristoph Heidel (34, NPH); 7 - Orpheus Raeburn (31), 6 - Jack Consort (33), 8 - Damian Seuss (30), 16 - Juan David May (29, AUD); 9 - Kilroy Holden (23), 10 - Luke Garrett (27)

Background: A small settlement in the southeastern flatlands, Wyndham are another one of the nexus towns for rural locals to flock to, come season time. Athletic are traditionally more of a second-tier outfit, but have timed their run perfectly. They traditionally have a physical, direct style of play.

Summary: Athletic probably have enough about them for survival this season, but it’s not going to be pretty. Then again, would they have it any other way? In Corrigan, they have a capable shot-stopper who is dominant in the air, and with thugs like Falconer, Collingwood and Consort, they aren’t about to be bullied around. Nor will the brawling striker, Kilroy Holden, and goal-poacher Luke Garrett is a natural fit in a little-and-large partnership. Felix isn’t really a tactician, outside of set piece drills - her job, in her mind, is about keeping her players happy and getting them to produce their best. Will that best be good enough?

PREDICTION - 10th.
Former Nepharan territory, former Anglatian puppet, current Brenecian puppet. It's complicated, but probably not as much as it sounds.

Future bids for host stadia will be taken into consideration, though the default in case of no bids will always be the stadium of Stade de Torgos in Torgos. A final reminder also that all Rushmori nations only (including any and all puppets) will be able to submit their league champions only (or top ranked team in the event of multi-associational leagues of more than one Rushmori nation) for entry into the next CdC; this includes puppet leagues that don't submit to UICA. The submission period opened when Commerce Heights closed entries to the last UICA tournaments, and will close again when Commerce Heights closes entries to the next UICA tournaments. No invitations will be sent. You must indicate at the bottom of your league summary that you wish your league champion to take part, and I take no responsibility for missing it if you've only shown it in your table.

Keep your entries coming in for the next edition!

For all the talk that this would be the most predictable season yet, it’s been anything but thus far, with Imperial Falston already nine points out of the running. Even the convincing-on-paper 6-2 hammering of Wyndham that hauled them from sixth to fourth comes with an asterisk - these were Wyndham’s sixth and seventh goals of a thoroughly miserable season thus far. So if not Imperial at the top, who’s there? So far, it’s Freeport Sharks in the ascendancy, their defence being predictably fairly porous but happily scoring enough at the other end to make up for it, with Memphis Commons really lighting up the league this season. New Rozelle and Roschester City are in the hunt - the former leaning heavily on Ansel Westerveld’s goals and Gudjon Letonien’s flashes of inspiration despite generally disjointed performances as a whole, the latter’s aging defence bailed out time and again by Chromatik goalkeeper Pamula Spake and fortunate for the connection between wingers Keane and Monrow and their young target, the brash Nepharim Sattelmaier. Shockingly, Shrove Wanderers are right up there with Imperial, locked equal on points - tipped to struggle heavily this season, outstanding performances from goalkeeper Merrick and their surging rightback Burnside, the latter’s connection with Bonds down the right, and Sasha Prutton choosing a great time to have a career-best season up front have all contributed to them being twelve points clear of the drop.

At the bottom of the table, Wyndham Athletic are clinging to their defence. Leave the uncharacteristic 6-2 behind - their attack is terrible and their defence is sturdy, likely keeping Tamara Felix in a job, and while the impetuous youth of Falconer and Walker in the heart of defence has lead to the occasional error, they’ve far more often made up for it with their pace and power. The issue is everyone else letting them down, with high-class leftback Heidel’s legs having clearly gone. Mosstown are also in strife, their defence having abandoned them and errors starting to creep into their talented but panicky goalkeeper, Garrick, while Meade are treading water at the moment, Bruce Rindaroy hitting the ground running in this league with seven goals thus far and Henshaw impressing between the posts. It’s likely two between those three; Shroveshore, seven points clear of the drop, can’t yet get comfortable but should still remain safe.

In the Cup, Falston Bohemians found themselves scalped by second-tier Mawson Road, who pushed Brunswick Town to the limit as well - Town relying on away goals to scrape by. New Rozelle are the standout favourites of the four survivors, joined by Brunswick, Pride - who knocked out Imperial - and struggling Meade Rovers, who managed to put down Shrove Wanderers with a determined performance, despite being forced down to 10 men towards the end of each leg.

Former Nepharan territory, former Anglatian puppet, current Brenecian puppet. It's complicated, but probably not as much as it sounds.

In a tournament full of upset victories at every stage, the trophy is lifted at the end by one of the big boys of the game with Zozi emerging as the victors over the surprise finalists from Banija, who had hoped that their shorter travel to Raynor City might have given them the edge in the affair. All entrants into the next AOCL must have won their nation's league or be the highest placed team of their association in a multiassociation league, with the exception of AC Izotz Zubia who are guaranteed a spot in the next AOCL group stage. Should they fail to qualify directly, Audioslavia will be granted a second spot.

Brunswick Town 2-2 New Rozelle
Roschester City 1-0 AFC Mosstown
Roschester Pride 3-1 Meade Rovers
Shrove Wanderers 0-3 Imperial Falston
AFC Shroveshore 0-1 Freeport Sharks
Wyndham Athletic 2-1 Falston Bohemians

Wyndham give themselves a lifeline, clawing themselves over a feckless Mosstown and level on points with Meade after a resilient 2-1 win over Falston Bohemians, whose classy defence struggled with the wind and the unabashed direct approach of their hosts. The Bohemians took an early lead through an Evan Nemeth free kick, but Ramson fumbled May’s cross four minutes later for Luke Garrett to take full advantage, before an injury-time corner from May was headed in by the burly defender Walker for his first goal of the season. Scenes in the stand. Imperial and the Wanderers may have been level on points, but the big boys come to Shrove and come away with a 3-0 win that illustrates the gap in true class between the sides.

AFC Mosstown 2-1 Brunswick Town
Meade Rovers 0-1 New Rozelle
Imperial Falston 0-0 Roschester City
Freeport Sharks 0-1 Roschester Pride
Falston Bohemians 3-2 Shrove Wanderers
Wyndham Athletic 2-1 AFC Shroveshore

Imperial against Roschester City is meant to be the big marquee clash of the season; it’s something of a non-event here, though, as City’s determined, energetic pressing manages to negate Imperial’s creative influences, and wayward finishing from Cronin and Sattelmaier spare Imperial’s blushes. The Rovers start to sweat, as Mosstown beat Brunswick with the help of a hilarious own goal from the hapless Louise Keith, while Wyndham beat Shroveshore with another two goals - Athletic have now scored six in their past three, having scored just five goals from their first fifteen matches.

Brunswick Town 2-2 Meade Rovers
AFC Mosstown 1-2 Imperial Falston
New Rozelle 4-1 Freeport Sharks
Roschester City 2-2 Falston Bohemians
Roschester Pride 1-1 Wyndham Athletic
Shrove Wanderers 2-2 AFC Shroveshore

New Rozelle throw a wrench in Freeport’s title hopes - specifically, Ansel Westerveld does with a perfect hat-trick in the second half to turn the tables. Imperial manage a predictable if laboured 2-1 win over Mosstown, while everyone else just draws, including a tempestuous Shrove derby which sees both Sigrid and Rachel Xenophon sent off for the Waves - not before the latter’s netted a crisp brace, but the massive gaps all over the pitch are pounced upon by Valerie Avery late on, a threaded long strike levelling the scores at 2-2.

Imperial Falston 2-0 Brunswick Town
Freeport Sharks 1-4 Meade Rovers
Falston Bohemians 1-1 AFC Mosstown
Wyndham Athletic 0-2 New Rozelle
AFC Shroveshore 0-2 Roschester City
Shrove Wanderers 1-5 Roschester Pride

Freeport must be feeling punch-drink, as their hold on the top collapses with a 4-1 defeat, at home, to lowly Meade Rovers. A brace for Rindaroy, both set up by the energetic rightback Revell, with even Dion Bragg getting his first goal of the season late in the second half before Caversham puts the final gloss on the scoreline in injury time. Four shots on target - four goals, and questions asked of Greta Malinder in goal. It’s a great success for Meade - Shroveshore, now winless in five following a routine 2-0 defeat to City and with resurgent teams behind them, now have to look over their shoulder...

Brunswick Town 2-4 Freeport Sharks
Imperial Falston 3-3 Falston Bohemians
Meade Rovers 4-0 Wyndham Athletic
AFC Mosstown 0-1 AFC Shroveshore
New Rozelle 1-1 Shrove Wanderers
Roschester City 1-1 Roschester Pride

Bruce Rindaroy came to Ceynes a broken man, one in need of redemption. But here he is, the toast of Meade with five goals from his last two games - here, a hat-trick to help the Rovers to a 4-0 hammering of Wyndham Athletic. In fairness, Athletic looked anything but, labouring late on and conceding the final three in the final 15 minutes. The Roschester derby is a spicy affair, with a goal and red card for each side - unusually, it’s City’s fiery manager Nadia Carrick who gets theirs, ripping the fourth official’s board out of her hands and hurling it at opposite number Theresa Wilhelm for… reasons unknown.

Falston Bohemians 2-0 Brunswick Town
Wyndham Athletic 4-2 Freeport Sharks
AFC Shroveshore 2-1 Imperial Falston
Shrove Wanderers 1-0 Meade Rovers
Roschester Pride 1-0 AFC Mosstown
Roschester City 1-1 New Rozelle

Remember when Freeport had a death-grip on the title? Yeah, that’s melted. Even disjointed and not playing great against a Wyndham side spurred into action by their very real risk of the drop, a deflected strike from Portsgate takes them into the break level at 2-2. And just two minutes into the second half… Malinder lets a weak shot from Damian Seuss trickle through her hands, before an unstoppable header from Kilroy Holden secures Athletic’s lead. But they’re not alone in resolute performances at the bottom - even a typically dodgy penalty for Imperial Falston isn’t enough to bail them out as they lose 2-1 to Shroveshore.

Brunswick Town 0-0 Wyndham Athletic
Falston Bohemians 6-0 AFC Shroveshore
Freeport Sharks 5-1 Shrove Wanderers
Imperial Falston 0-1 Roschester Pride
Meade Rovers 0-0 Roschester City
AFC Mosstown 1-3 New Rozelle

The Bohemians pick up the plaudits with a 6-0 demolition of the Waves, dominating in pretty much every conceivable aspect of the game. Alexandria Chesser’s had… perhaps not the on-field impact some would have hoped, but at 37, a lack of minutes is to be expected. She completes an hour here and leaves with two goals and two assists, to widespread applause. Freeport Sharks seem to have some of their mojo back, too, pulverising the Wanderers 5-1 - maybe it’s just a bad day to be from Shrove.

AFC Shroveshore 2-1 Brunswick Town
Shrove Wanderers 0-1 Wyndham Athletic
Roschester Pride 4-2 Falston Bohemians
Roschester City 0-1 Freeport Sharks
New Rozelle 2-1 Imperial Falston
AFC Mosstown 1-2 Meade Rovers

The Bohemians had actually notched up a six-game unbeaten streak before their 6-0 win, and that’s apparently too neat a symmetry for the Football Gods to miss; Roschester Pride end them 4-2, Jane Wyclif’s class and Corsica Green’s swagger down the left undoing them time and again on a day where they’re made to seriously miss injured rightback Nikita Bronte. Freeport chalk up a second straight win for what seems like the first time in years, Malinder shutting up her detractors - at least for one game - while a glancing header from Lyn Bogarde deceives the wrong-footed Spake and provides the game’s only goal.

Brunswick Town 2-1 Shrove Wanderers
AFC Shroveshore 2-1 Roschester Pride
Wyndham Athletic 1-0 Roschester City
Falston Bohemians 2-0 New Rozelle
Freeport Sharks 1-1 AFC Mosstown
Imperial Falston 3-0 Meade Rovers

Is it now Roschester City’s turn to stumble at the top? A feeble 1-0 defeat in Wyndham means they’re now five without a win, a streak which has unsurprisingly coincided with the muscular Nepharim Sattelmaier going quiet. Granted, Freeport Sharks also stumble to a 1-1 draw, and New Rozelle are beaten 2-0 by the Bohemians - maybe nobody wants to win the league after all.

Roschester Pride 1-1 Brunswick Town
Roschester City 2-0 Shrove Wanderers
New Rozelle 1-0 AFC Shroveshore
AFC Mosstown 0-2 Wyndham Athletic
Meade Rovers 0-1 Falston Bohemians
Imperial Falston 1-4 Freeport Sharks

Key battles at both ends of the table. At the bottom, Wyndham’s rich vein of form continues; three wins in a row, four goals and none past Richard Corrigan, and this perhaps the most important of all, a convincing 2-0 away in Mosstown. Granted, the game is genuinely dreadful to watch, but they’ll take it. Better to watch Imperial’s host of Freeport, as they get slaughtered 4-1. As has seemingly been a theme this season, Imperial play slick, assertive possession football in the first half, go into the interval level at 1-1, and play terrible, disjointed, garbage football in the second half.

Brunswick Town 0-1 Roschester City
Roschester Pride 1-3 New Rozelle
Shrove Wanderers 0-3 AFC Mosstown
AFC Shroveshore 1-0 Meade Rovers
Wyndham Athletic 0-1 Imperial Falston
Falston Bohemians 3-2 Freeport Sharks

A lot’s been made already of Freeport Sharks’ collapse, but maybe there’s room for more - after all, it’s not every day that veterans Bogarde and Ramsey bust up on the field for grievances unknown. Worse still is the timing, in a finely poised tie, 2-2 against the Bohemians with half an hour to play - but Freeport’s momentum is crushed after the flare-up, and the Bohemians are emboldened. They dominate the rest of the match, and Iris Hawkshaw’s elegant lofted ball is knocked down and hammered home by Sherry Haukmann in the closing stages to give them the win. Mosstown manage a 3-0 hammering of Shrove Wanderers away, out of nowhere. They only took four shots all day, but while the Wanderers were profligate, Ceynes international Joseph Luther makes the most of every sniff of goal.

New Rozelle 0-2 Brunswick Town
AFC Mosstown 0-4 Roschester City
Meade Rovers 1-0 Roschester Pride
Imperial Falston 2-0 Shrove Wanderers
Freeport Sharks 3-0 AFC Shroveshore
Falston Bohemians 1-0 Wyndham Athletic

Form is meaningless. Mosstown are firmly put in their place, crushed 4-0 by Roschester City, while Freeport just rock up and beat Shroveshore 3-0 like nothing’s happened - although Bogarde is mysteriously missing. Meade get to be the big winners at the bottom, Lucia Marlborough chipping Mathom Drury from 28 yards for the only goal in a win over Pride.

Meade Rovers 2-0 Brunswick Town
New Rozelle 2-3 Roschester Pride

Brunswick Town are exactly the kind of midtable team that should be going full pelt for the Cup - and yet, instead, they’re well beaten by a Meade side that really does have a lot more on its plate. For once, it’s Rindaroy’s strike partner, Gretchen Britliff, who gets the plaudits with a crisp brace. New Rozelle take an early lead over Pride, but a mix-up at the back is pounced upon by Crowley Mathers, before Mathers takes on a strike outside the box and bends it around Wood on the stroke of half-time. Clement Reinhart heads home a corner from Wyclif to extend Pride’s lead in the second half, but a late penalty drawn by Malwick and converted by Westerveld gives New Rozelle a lifeline heading into the second leg.

Brunswick Town 2-0 AFC Mosstown
New Rozelle 9-1 Meade Rovers
Roschester City 0-2 Imperial Falston
Roschester Pride 1-1 Freeport Sharks
Shrove Wanderers 2-0 Falston Bohemians
AFC Shroveshore 2-1 Wyndham Athletic

Uhhh. Forget everything nice that’s been said about Meade - apparently stringing a couple of wins together got to their head, or maybe New Rozelle are just mad about their own missed opportunities. They don’t miss many today, hammering home nine in a record win for the CSL. Westerveld alone chalks up four. And for all Bruce Rindaroy’s deserved recent plaudits, celebrating the goal that just lowered the deficit to six isn’t the best look.

Meade Rovers 0-2 Brunswick Town
Imperial Falston 4-0 AFC Mosstown
Freeport Sharks 1-3 New Rozelle
Falston Bohemians 1-5 Roschester City
Wyndham Athletic 1-1 Roschester Pride
AFC Shroveshore 3-2 Shrove Wanderers

All the top sides are having parties - Imperial Falston hammer Mosstown 4-0, Roschester City are helped to a 5-1 away win over Bohemians by some supremely dodgy defending, and Freeport’s mercurial form continues to hurt them as New Rozelle walk over them 3-1, two goals in the first ten minutes setting the tone. A fiery Shrove derby is the pick of the ground, not for violence as for two sides really going hammer and tongs at one another. It’s Shroveshore’s tempestuous Nepharim imports, the Xenophon sisters, who make the difference in the second half - Rachel with a goal and an assist, Sigrid with a goal and a red card. Yeah, that’s Nepharim alright.

Brunswick Town 0-0 Meade Rovers
Meade Rovers win 2-0 on aggregate.

Roschester Pride 1-0 New Rozelle
Roschester Pride win 4-2 on aggregate.

A pretty boring set of semifinals enforces the status quo. Nothing happens in Brunswick vs. Meade, which suits the Rovers down to the ground; Pride beat New Rozelle through, yet again, Crowley Mathers pouncing on a sluggish defender, tapping the ball between Bournemouth’s feet before rounding him - the Swans’ defenders have the turning circles of farm equipment - and sliding the ball past a despairing Sherman Wood.

Brunswick Town 3-3 Imperial Falston
Meade Rovers 4-3 Freeport Sharks
AFC Mosstown 1-4 Falston Bohemians
New Rozelle 1-0 Wyndham Athletic
Roschester City 0-1 AFC Shroveshore
Roschester Pride 1-2 Shrove Wanderers

Mosstown score after going a dry spell of three matches… in a 4-1 loss to the Bohemians. Unfortunately, their relegation is long since tamped and sealed by this point. Meanwhile… Freeport! What’s going on? Meade return to form, though this time without Rindaroy’s intervention - beyond a header knocked down for Britliff to open the scores against the Sharks. Not to worry, Memphis Commons flares into gear, scoring twice either side of a Portsgate penalty. They race into the break 3-1 up. They lose 4-3. What gives? And that, unfortunately, mean they can only watch as New Rozelle beat Wyndham Athletic by a single goal as Malwick’s strike squeaks past Corrigan’s near post, the trophy is wheeled out… and Ansel Westerveld lifts it.

Freeport Sharks 1-1 Brunswick Town
Falston Bohemians 0-4 Imperial Falston
Wyndham Athletic 3-3 Meade Rovers
AFC Shroveshore 1-1 AFC Mosstown
Shrove Wanderers 0-3 New Rozelle
Roschester Pride 2-1 Roschester City

The demoralised Sharks aren’t done choking, it seems - with a 1-1 draw against lowly Brunswick, they can only watch as the Falston derby becomes a 4-0 slaughter for Imperial, one that lets them slide casually into second place and thus a CEDC place. The Roschester derby sees Pride win through a spectacular flying header from Crowley Mathers, who has really lit up the league in the second half. Meanwhile, with Mosstown long gone, it comes down to Meade against Wyndham for the final relegation place - and a 3-3 draw does neither of them many favours as the normally joyless Wyndham go down early to a long strike from Caversham and force themselves to chase the game. Three times do the Rovers lead, three times do Athletic equalise, and nobody wins but the neutrals.

FINAL MATCHDAY
Brunswick Town 2-0 Falston Bohemians
Freeport Sharks 2-1 Wyndham Athletic
Imperial Falston 2-0 AFC Shroveshore
Meade Rovers 1-2 Shrove Wanderers
AFC Mosstown 1-2 Roschester Pride
New Rozelle 1-0 Roschester City

Wyndham Athletic visit a floundering Freeport, hoping to keep survival in their sights, needing to at least match Meade’s result. It begins perfectly, Raeburn finding space down the right to hammer in a cross… one that misses everyone except Cristoph Heidel on the other flank. The veteran leftback tries his luck anyway, and the low strike is deflected off the sluggish Darren Redknapp’s heel and wrongfooting Malinder. Unfortunately, Wyndham can’t keep their grip on the game - Sandra Tapster looks to have been pressed into the corner, before dynamically turning and twisting past Collingwood, cutting outside an impetuous, sliding Falconer and firing across Corrigan. Memphis Commons, as she so often does, wins the day late on with an unerring strike into the top corner late on after slipping past three markers, and by the time the game ended, both teams could only watch and wait for other results. The victory turned to ash in Freeport’s mouth as they got wind that Imperial had rolled over Shroveshore, while Meade had stumbled against Shrove Wanderers. The Wanderers themselves knew that they could be dragged down had they lost - unlike Meade, they played like it, goals from Bonds and Prutton securing their survival.

CUP FINAL
Meade Rovers 2-0 Roschester Pride

Despite all this, the Rovers still had to show up at the capital and face off against Pride for the Cup. Gideon Rutland must be one hell of a motivator - his side went out through the tunnel looking like they had an axe to grind and nothing to lose, which was technically true, given they’d already lost it all. There’s far more perspiration than inspiration in a scoreless first half, but some slick interplay early in the second saw the advance of Revell rewarded when Caversham’s disguised pass found him, unmarked, on the edge of the box - the rightback tried his luck and beat Drury, who could have done better, at his near post. That forced Pride to chase the game and though at several points they came close to drawing level, forcing some fine saves from Henshaw and hitting the crossbar through a Mathers header, the Rovers underline their win in injury time when Petrie cuts out a pass, slams a long ball over the top for Britliff to chase down, take past the exposed Drury and roll the ball into the net.

NS Baranillian Football Season 3 - Liga Supre Season 1:

This season for Baranillian football oversaw it merge with the much smaller football league of Wara-Salas, which was promptly met with laughter from the Baranillian audience. This laughter was enhanced when it was announced that ten Wara-Salassian teams would join with the ten Liga Baranil teams to form the “Liga Supre” as how could a nation that has only two professional teams compete with a nation of 5.3 million huge football fans?

The Wara-Salassi Football Championship failed to become one of the four foreign football leagues with a large viewership in Baranil last season as it was low quality and uncompetitive with Sczenaspor winning eleven titles, Obadirspor winning six and Cimbonom winning a single title whilst none of the other seventeen Liga 1 eligible teams lifting the Liga 1 title.

This was known by the Baranillian Football Association and Wara-Salassi Football Federation and was a primary reason for the merger – so that Sczenaspor and Obadirspor would be challenged.

Another reason for the merger is the previously mentioned lack of interest in Wara-Salassi football in Baranil as almost every Baranillian’s favourite foreign team lied in either Liga Eraman (61%), Liga 2 Eraman (4%), the Seraxinbourghian National Premier League (16%), or Élite League One (18%) with Wara-Salas having the favourite foreign football team for only 0.7% of Baranillians. The Wara-Salassi Football Federation had hoped that the extra money made from the Baranillian supporters and the extra games that their teams will play will help a third team (most likely Crnospor) go professional and make Wara-Salassi football teams more appealing for people to cheer for. (Statistics were accurate as of the middle of last season, Liga Eraman will be even larger than Liga 2 Eraman now due to the promotion of Royal Cittapura.)

With shirts of foreign football teams decorating Baranil’s population when their favourite team isn’t playing (as wearing the shirt of a Baranillian football team in public would likely start an argument or even a fight), this mergence will hopefully also help sell Wara-Salassi football shirts to Baranillians and boost the revenue for their clubs whilst Baranillian teams will almost certainly take what used to be Wara-Salas’ third Globe Cup slot and Wara-Salas’ third SBCC slot along with the associations getting six CMFA Champions League spaces between them now their leagues have merged instead of eight (though that will likely not affect Baranillian teams) along with how Baranillian teams, especially in the inaugural Liga Supre, are projected to kick the living daylights out of Wara-Salas’ teams and suddenly Baranil having to share their Cygnus Cup spot and the extra revenue for Wara-Salas’ clubs looks fair.

Mordov Rogak is the favourites to win the league with Sparta Kuban, Dynamo Vodvok, Lokomotiv Kuban, Sczenaspor and Obadirspor expected to accompany the Lizards to the CMFA Champions League whilst UFA, Prsicornom, Eitrinom and Oenospor are projected to get relegated with Saitamaspor expected to narrowly avoid the drop this season

Most supported Foreign Football Clubs in Baranil and the % of the population that considers them their favourite foreign club according to a survey of 100,000 Baranillians (results are given to 2 digits):
1) Haran – 59%
2) Calde City – 12%
2) CF Aéropag – 11%
4) Yûpo CCK – 5.1%
5) Clydebank – 3.4%*
6) Royal Cittapura – 3.4%*
7) Yuba United – 1.6%
8) Anara – 1.1%
9) Sczenaspor – 0.6%
10) Calvernia City – 0.5%
*Four more people answered Clydebank than Royal Cittapura leading to Clydebank being place in 5th ahead of Royal Cittapura.

A few weeks before the season started there was the Playoffs, where the 4 Liga 1 Playoff winners played against eachother to see who would play in Liga Supre and who would play in Liga Adalante. The matches were held at Sczenastadion, home of Sczenaspor on Saturday with kick offs taking place at 12:30pm and 7:30pm in order to allow fans of Egrazinaspor and fans of Teerathzspor to leave Sczenastadion prior to the entry of Kvosinom and Beriskas fans.

Liga Supre Playoffs:
Egrazinaspor 0-2 Teerathzspor
Kvosinom 1-1 Beriskas (2-1 AET)

On the Sunday of the same weekend, at 2:30pm, the Liga Nacionale Playoffs ensued. In these 16 matches the 16 teams who played in the Promotion Playoffs or were relegated each hosted a team who played in either the relegation playoffs or the fourth tier the previous season. The winners of these matches would play in Liga Nacionale while the losers would play in the Conferenzie.

Zenit Kuban qualified for the Vilitan Cove Invitational due to them being the highest placed team who failed to qualify for the Globe Cup/Champions Cup.

As predicted, the Baranillian teams ran riot on the Wara-Salassi teams during the inaugural Liga Supre season with all 4 relegated teams coming from Wara-Salas and Baranil claiming the maximum allowance of Globe Cup spots.

In a shock upset however, Sparta Kuban's new manager Vladmir Czenko helped them glide to 101 points which allowed them to win the league 4 points ahead of runners-up and the bookies favourites by a mile - Mordov Rogak.

The final team who achieved over 90 points this season was Lokomotiv Kuban who came in 3rd place with an impressive 93 points coming from the 30 wins and 3 draws that they achieved during the 38 game season.

At the other end of the table were Saitamaspor and Eitrinom, who both achieved over 30 defeats with Saitamaspor going winless for the entire year and only picking up 5 draws which has lead to discussions as to whether or not they should even be allowed to compete in the Liga Adalante next season or whether they should be relegated two tiers to give them a chance of winning a few games.

Liga Adalante was much more competitive than Liga Supre between Baranillian and Wara-Salassi teams as 2 Wara-Salassi teams managed to claim a promotion place into Liga Supre and Wara-Salassi teams managing to claim half of the SBCC places though on the flip side they did claim 2/3 relegation places.

The Baranillian Football Federation and the Wara-Salassi Football Association agreed that the 4 non-University teams who were qualified to the top flight of Baranillian Youth Football, Sparta Kuban Ekademikol and 5 Wara-Salassi teams would form the Youtr Lig 1 where each nation will send 1 team to the Youth Cup each season and 1 team to the Youtr Lig 2.

They also announced the foundation of the Universisi Lig, where the 5 University teams who played in the top flight of Baranillian Youth Football, Universisi de Vodvok and a team from both of Wara-Salas' Universities - Universidad de Wara-Salas as well as Wara-Salas Eskol de Technologica would compete for 3 IUCC places.

Five days after the Round of 16 for the National Cup was played, the jury for the case between the Baranillian football clubs of Mordov Rogak and Ruben Oranburg voted 7 to 5 in favour of ordering the owner of Mordov Rogak to pay off all of the debts that he put Ruben Oranburg into, give them back all of the money that he stole from them plus pay them a sum of 850,000 Warajas for turning Ruben Oranburg from a Liga Baranil regular into a mid-table 2nd division team in the space of just 2 seasons from the damage that was done to them by the owner of Mordov Rogak.

Mordov Rogak's owner was able to comfortable pay off the fee that he owed due to all of the money that he had made from the fantastic continental run that Mordov Rogak stringed together in the Globe Cup.

SEASON XIV PREVIEW

Image

Home Colours: Red shirts, white shorts, red socks
Away Colours: White shirts, black shorts, white socks
Third Colours: All black
Ground: Municipal Stadium (32,155)
Nickname: The Hockanucks – a vernacular term for Hockey Canadians; the city was founded by refugees from there.
Manager: Gregory Vance (42)

Internationals: None.
Key Player: Colin Osiek (RM, 31)
One To Watch: Dale Fonseca (CM, 21)

Overview: Being very much a community club, Adanac are just happy to be mixing it with the big boys. Their wallet won't stretch far enough to make a big dent even in mid-table, but the whole can be more than the sum of its parts. If they can keep the team spirit up they might just surprise a few people, but it's unlikely.

Prediction: Battling valiantly but vainly against the drop. 18th

Image

Home Colours: Oxblood shirts, cream shorts, oxblood socks
Away Colours: Amber shirts, black shorts, amber socks
Ground: The Rutian Grounds (56,066)
Nickname: The Bears – an animal long associated with the city of Ashton.
Manager: Peter Martin (50)

Internationals: Gareth Brannan (Krytenia, CB, 24)
Key Player: Lee Marshall (CF, 23)
One To Watch: David Barron (LM, 18)

Overview: Ashton have taken a while to rise towards the top table, but they're determined to stay there. Gareth Brannan will help to marshall a strong back line; the question is whether Marshall and Wright can bang in the goals needed to propel the Bears into the UICA places.

Prediction: Not quite breaking into the “Big Three”, but pushing close. 4th

Image

Home Colours: All red.
Away Colours: All white.
Third Colours: All blue.
Ground: Avidair Stadium (28,695)
Nickname: City – self-explanatory.
Manager: Jorge Cabañas (44)

Internationals: Pablo Ibanez (Krytenia, GK, 23)
Key Player: Chris Llewellyn (CB, 31)
One To Watch: Danny Kavanagh (LM, 18)

Overview: It's a tough lot being the second team in the Second City. Especially when you've had more than a couple of seasons in the second flight. It's a shame, really, as the team have an owner who cares about the team and passionate fans – it's just that their cross-city rivals have both of those things plus cash and reputation.

Prediction: They lack the oomph to challenge the top half, and will probably be looking over their shoulders at their other cross-city rivals. 16th

Image

Home Colours: Sky blue shirts, navy socks and shorts.
Away Colours: All gold.
Ground: New City Stadium (88,553)
Nickname: The Eagles – the vestigial tail of a brief renaming experiment. United is also used.
Manager: Joe Garrido (53)

Internationals: Miguel Torres (Krytenia, CB, 25) – Roberto Juliano (Krytenia, CM, 28) – Callum Quiroga (Krytenia, CF, 22)
Key Player: Callum Quiroga
One To Watch: Harvey Carmello (RB, 19)

Overview: Being the only one of the “Big Three” not owned by a Mercian bajillionaire, Avidia United have become the second team of many fans who put themselve in the Anyone But Borough And Bromham camp. To be fair, they're not exactly strapped for cash themselves, and have a pretty good youth development system, so they have the chops to back it up.

Prediction: Don't quite have a team to topple Ousevale, but they'll chase hard. 2nd

Image

Home Colours: Blue shirts, white shorts, orange socks.
Away Colours: Orange shirts, blue shorts, white socks.
Ground: Orange Street (37,665)
Nickname: The Mariners – Beckton's an old harbour city on the shores of the Beck.
Manager: Lee Webb (36)

Internationals: Liam Baumgartner (Krytenia, CB, 32)
Key Player: Alexander Witten (CF, 26)
One To Watch: Richie Ducasse (RM, 18)

Overview: Beckton basically catapulted themselves into the national consciousness thanks to one great cup run. They've built on it well, though, investing wisely to morph from a lower-division footnote to a mid-table top flight side. Mariners fans still pinch themselves every season they finish outside of the relegation zone.

Prediction: Sleep on them at your peril. A balanced side with a young and energetic head coach. 7th

Image

Home Colours: Dark green shirts, white shorts, dark green socks.
Away Colours: White shirts, green shorts, black socks.
Ground: Abbey Road (47,260)
Nickname: The Saints – that part of their moniker comes from their origins as a church recreational side.
Manager: Wayne Dolenz (53)

Internationals:Tom Kelly (Krytenia, CF, 31)
Key Player: Thomas Fraser (CM, 24)
One To Watch: Daniel Quintero (GK, 18)

Overview: Saints are one of those sides who seem to exist purely to flesh out the middle of the table. They rarely trouble the UICA places, but at the same time never seem overly threatened with the drop. Finishing above Stanton is usually Job One for the season.

Prediction: Painfully mid-table. 12th

Image

Home Colours: Navy and purple hooped shirts, navy shorts, purple socks
Away Colours: Yellow and pink hooped shirts, pink shorts, yellow socks
Ground: Walton Gardens (55,208)
Nickname: Caley – short for Caledon. Also the Lions, from their badge.
Manager: Stephen Kerr (48)

Internationals: Malcolm Aitken (Krytenia, RM, 28)
Key Player: Michael Uehara (GK, 29)
One To Watch: Max Macduff (CF, 17)

Overview: Caledon were the top team in the country once. Many, many, many years ago. There's a reason their badge has a star over it for AOCL games, after all. Those days, sadly, are long passed into memory, and instead Caledon will be hoping wunderkind striker Max Macduff can lead them back to relevance.

Prediction: Somewhere in that mid-table maelstrom; might just have the advantage in key positions. 10th

Image

Home Colours: Blue and amber striped shirts, amber shorts, blue and amber socks.
Away Colours: All white.
Ground: New Coalfields (71,119)
Nickname: The Miners – Osteria was built on the coalmining industry, though steelworking is now the biggest employer.
Manager: Samuel Dee (40)

Internationals: Will Vasser (Krytenia, RB, 26) – Joshua Coquelin (Krytenia, CF, 22)
Key Player: Joshua Coquelin
One To Watch: Steven Vincelot (LM, 18)

Overview: Casuals fans are nothing if not entertained. The team are famed for their swashbuckling style, matched only by their unpredictability. This is the team, after all, that escaped relegation in the last minute of the season, and finished third the very next year. Half the fun of watching the men in blue and amber is trying to guess exactly which one will turn up.

Prediction: Literally could finish anywhere; in all seriousness, though, the team is half decent. 8th

Image

Home Colours: All green.
Away Colours: All orange.
Ground: Draconium Arena (66,592)
Nickname: The Dragons – the team were originally called Caversham Dragons before dropping the soubriquet.
Manager: Paul Kreuz (60)

Internationals: Ellis Ducaine-Petit (Krytenia, CB, 25)
Key Player: Ed Vicarage (CM, 28)
One To Watch: Emmanuel Joubert (LB, 20)

Overview: Caversham are, truth be told, the Houdini team of the O-League. They never look like they have a strong team, always get tipped for relegation, struggle for half the season, and then somehow drag themselves clear of the quagmire. One day, perhaps, they'll put the pieces together and push for the top half; don't hold your breath, though.

Prediction: First half struggle, second half pulling well clear. 14th

Image

Home Colours: Red shirts, blue shorts, red socks.
Away Colours: Yellow shirts, blue shorts, yellow socks.
Ground: Estadio Rey Felicio / King Felix Stadium (17,650)
Nickname: Los Pomodoros – literally “the tomatoes” due to their red shirts.
Manager: Luis Garcia Alves (51)

Internationals: None.
Key Player: Juan Castellano (CB, 30)
One To Watch: Ricardo Sainz (CF, 20)

Overview: Avidia's third team, and the oft-forgotten one. Avides have built themselves on being the representatives of the Second City's large Hispanophonic community, and as such tend to have an overwhelming majority of players from that subset of the population. Their compact ground seems designed to amplify the noise from the fans, and this coupled with the inevitable fog of flare smoke makes for an intimidating little fortress.

Prediction: Will go down fighting all the way. 19th

Image

Home Colours: All red.
Away Colours: All black.
Third Colours: White shirts, black shorts, red socks.
Ground: Isserson Olympic Stadium (150,340)
Nickname: The Reds – can't think why.
Manager: Howard Eales (47)

Internationals: Thomas Scott (Krytenia, RB, 26) – Matthew Gray (Krytenia, CB, 26)
Key Player: Thomas Scott
One To Watch: Jordan McInally (LM, 19)

Overview: Always the bridesmaids, never the brides. Somehow, Emberton Reds seem to find fresh and interesting ways to fail to live up to their potential. Their choke jobs are legendary, and you can tell a Reds fan in February by the glassy look to their eyes as their beloved team once again throw away a promising season.

Prediction: They'll top the league, just not in the second half of the season. 5th

Image

Home Colours: Blue shirts, white shorts, blue socks.
Away Colours: All yellow.
Third Colours: Green shirts, blue shorts, green socks.
Ground: Lay's Road (39,981)
Nickname: The Gears – Leston is the industrial heartland of the Nova Mercia region that makes up the south of the country.
Manager: Roger Bradley (45)

Internationals: John Burton (Krytenia, LM, 25)
Key Player: Harry Cinderford (CB, 24)
One To Watch: Casper Brady (GK, 20)

Overview: A hard working team from a hard working town. Leston won't ever win awards for stylish football, but they've engendered a great team ethic and have a young squad capable of turning heads. Goalkeeper Casper Brady, meanwhile, could not look more Starblaydi if he tried – this despite being born in Shruton. Go figure.

Prediction: Will pick up points at a rate of knots up till the point the rest of the league figures them out. 9th

Image

Home Colours: Blue shirts, white shorts and socks.
Away Colours: Green shirts, blue shorts, green socks.
Ground: The Sidings (20,043)
Nickname: Loco or The Railwaymen – the rail industry has long been huge in Wolverton.
Manager: Simon Sinclair (38)

Internationals: None.
Key Player: Alex Stott (RB, 27)
One To Watch: Barry Yosmaier (LM, 19)

Overview: Locomotive have never been a big side in Krytenia, tending more often than not to reside somewhere about mid-table of Division One. They'll be looking to make the most of their first ever season in the top flight, despite their lack of recognised talent. Oh, and be careful of the West Stand, it tends to vibrate a bit when an express train zooms past on the nearby railway line.

Prediction: Calling at Relegation Dogfight, Last Day Drama, and Great Escape. 17th

Image

Home Colours: White and navy striped shirts, navy shorts, white and navy socks
Away Colours: Red shirts, navy shorts, red socks
Ground: Cygnus Stadium (105,013)
Nickname: The Midlanders – the Midland river flows through Bromham, past the stadium.
Manager: Paul James (43)

Internationals: Christopher Joel (Krytenia, LB, 25) – Freddie Hames (Krytenia, CM, 27)
Key Player: Ken Robson-Harris (CF, 26)
One To Watch: John Connery (GK, 17)

Overview: Oh, Mercia. They're probably the most hated team in the league, and it's not really their fault. The problem, rather, is the Swann family, who have a reputation for being rather...unscrupulous in their business dealings whilst also just happening to own the club. Then again, when you own the largest company in Krytenia, you can afford to be a little less ethical. The team itself, meanwhile, is not as strong as it used to be, but is still a force to be reckoned with.

Prediction: Last of the Big Three, but no lower. 3rd

Image

Home Colours: Black and white striped shirts, black shorts and socks.
Away Colours: Red, green, and white shirts, white shorts, green socks.
Ground: Parc Abertawy / Abertawy Park (31,101)
Nickname: Albion – the club is named after Druidan heavyweights Cefn Albion.
Manager: Huw Jones (58)

Internationals: Hywel ap Hywel (Krytenia, LB, 19)
Key Player: Hywel ap Hywel
One To Watch: Merlyn Owen (CF, 19)

Overview: New Cefn is the hub of Krytenia's Druidan Mock Welsh community. As such, the team has always prided itself on representing that group of people, and have prioritised developing local talent over league success. That being said, they do a very good job of nurturing that talent time and time again.

Prediction: Comfortably mid-table and quite happy about it. 13th

Image

Home Colours: Red shirts, white shorts, red socks.
Away Colours: White shirts, red shorts, white socks.
Third Colours: All light green.
Ground: Knott Crescent (50,552)
Nickname: Rangers – because of course it is.
Manager: Mark Nelson (62)

Internationals: None.
Key Player: Sam Yorke (CB, 28)
One To Watch: Leo Goodman (CF, 19)

Overview: It's been a while since top-flight football has graced the city of Tyfield, but the former Mercian giants have clawed their way back to relevance on the back of some sizzling play. The big ask at this point, of course, is keeping that going, but with the wily old brain of Mark Nelson in the dugout it's by no means impossible.

Prediction: Probably just about good enough to stay up. 15th

Image

Home Colours: All light blue.
Away Colours: All red.
Third Colours: All white.
Ground: Northern Star Stadium (43,281)
Nickname: The Stars – the team is owned and operated by Northern Star Electronics.
Manager: Marcus Reubens (44)

Internationals: None.
Key Player: David Tomassen (CB, 34)
One To Watch: Jack Westbrook (CM, 21)

Overview: Not much to say about this lot. Parent company NSE practically run the city of Kovenham as their own fiefdom, and the team is no exception. The bare minimum is spent on the team, and their promotion to the top flight is nothing short of a fluke.

Prediction: Don't let the trapdoor hit your arse on the way down. 20th

Image

Home Colours: All white.
Away Colours: All black.
Third Colours: All gold.
Ground: Southern Arena (91,093)
Nickname: The Tigers – formerly the White Tigers but later shortened. Alternatively just Boro is fine.
Manager: Paul Davis (34)

Internationals: Marcus Washington (Krytenia, GK, 27) – Chris Naismith (Krytenia, CF, 27)
Key Player: Chris Naismith
One To Watch: Callum Scotland (CF, 20)

Overview: Long-time followers will need no introduction to these lot. They are, without a doubt, the most successful side in Krytenian football. Former home team of Valrauncion. Like Mercia, are owned by a minted Mercian family; the difference, though, is that the Spencer family remember they're human beings. Their property empire includes a litany of government contracts that have led to the nation having probably the best social housing stock in Calania. They're also not afraid to splash the cash on the team, as anyone who remembers the Tigers teams of the past will attest.

Prediction: They'll win the league. Easily. 1st

Image

Home Colours: Wine and navy halved shirts, ecru shorts, wine socks.
Away Colours: Ecru shirts, wine shorts, navy socks.
Ground: Oxley Park (53,882)
Nickname: The Royals or Pats – first is obvious, second is from one of their previous names.
Manager: Raymond Hodgkins (64)

Internationals: Joe Hansen (Krytenia, RM, 21) - Jake Hansen (Krytenia, RM, 21)
Key Player: The Hansen twins
One To Watch: Jamie Diogo (CB, 20)

Overview: Emberton's other team are probably the only one in the league that needs to know the plural of “identity crisis”. Formed as Everton City Patriots, their first name change was a forced one when the capital became Emberton; a few seasons later they became simply Krytenia Emberton. During the West Starblaydi regime they were known as Emberton Oxley – for obvious reasons – before becoming Royal Emberton after the Restoration. Despite all the changes of name, though, the lion badge and unique colour pallette have remained constant. Sadly, the team's consistency is more in line with the name than the kits.

Prediction: They won't be happy with this – just behind the Reds. 6th

Image

Home Colours: Red shirts, white shorts, blue socks.
Away Colours: White shirts, blue shorts, black socks.
Third Colours: Blue shirts and shorts, white socks.
Ground: Harbour Stadium (60,662)
Nickname: The Dockers – Stanton is a massive ferry and container harbour with a city bolted on.
Manager: Richard Valens (39)

Internationals: Murray Schwarzkopf (Krytenia, CM, 24) – Selaphiel Kennedy (CF, 17)
Key Player: Connor McConnell (GK, 25)
One To Watch: Selaphiel Kennedy

Overview: Last but not least come the Dockers. Honestly, Stanton Town's main claim to fame is being the home town of the prolific Kennedy family of strikers – and in young Selaphiel, they have another one. Whether this is enough to catapult them up to UICA contention, though, remains to be seen. Could take a while.

Prediction: Too soon to scramble upwards from the mid-table mess. 11th

The Fekadu Financial Power Index - Part I
Authored by Dr. Sololeya Fekadu, Dean of the College of Sports Studies at Northern Moravica University

I would like to of course say hello to the ABSM readership! This magazine, of course, has achieved a substantial readership base, both at home and abroad, and I am happy to be writing in it for the first time! First, of course, to explain exactly who I am. My name is Sololeya Fekadu, PhD. I have earned a bachelor's and a PhD from Northern Moravica University(Go Cougs!), and have worked in the arena of sports management my entire life. When I was in college myself, I was a gymnast. I was a national champion gymnast as a freshman, and my senior year, I finished 3rd at the BCSG(Banijan Collegiate Sports Group) national championships. I've always had a passion for sports, though as many of you know, the career of a gymnast isn't going to last much longer after age 23.

And then, after my completing my undergraduate degree in Sports Management, I worked towards completing my Doctorate in the same field. I was extremely happy when I finished my last degree- at the age of 26. Since then, of course, I have worked in a lot of places in the sports world. I worked as the Athletic Director at Istria Community College, and as the Deputy Athletic Director here at my alma mater. I have also worked in the world of professional sports, proudly serving as the first ever female Board member of the Olympic Committee of Banija, as well as being the organization's Chief Financial Officer for a number of years.

After that, I was offered a dream job- the Deputy Chief Financial Officer of the World Cup 81 Banija/FFR Host Committee. I didn't come on until after that bid was secured, but I was able to work in the nuts and bolts of the finances of a World Cup host committee, working alongside my counterpart, who was the CFO, from FFR. I spent three years in that role, and got to do all kinds of cool things, from helping balance the books for the host committee, to working on the financing for the project of building the new Stadium of the Restoration. A dream job. But, of course, World Cup 81 came to an end, and I figured- what would I do?

And then, I was able to secure a job- as the Dean of the College of Sports Studies at Northern Moravica. We have sports business degrees, sports journalism, Athletic Trainer, etc... Striving to be the top such institution in the region. Regardless of that plug- why do you care who I am? Well, the question was posed after following some transfer window fun- which league is the financially strongest league? Who is the world's richest club? Well, of course, we got to doing some research, and after compiling data on hundreds of clubs, and crunching numbers for thousands of data points, we are here to present the ABSM's readership in the following four part series with the definitive answer- who are the multiverse's financially strongest clubs, and who are the multiverse's richest leagues.

Methodology

Now, of course, before we dwelve into the rankings, there needs to be accountability for methodology. How have my graduate students and I come with a ranking? Of course, things like TV contracts, ticket sales, etc... Are private information in the majority of UICA countries- those numbers are not public. But what numbers are public(at least in most countries). The transfer window!

Transfer numbers are good measurements of financial strength. Why? Because in the UICA windows, clubs tend to shell out cash for players, they buy, effective immediately. That means they need cash on hand to complete those purchases, especially when you talk about the challenges of converting local currency to international currency, like NSDs, and then converting it again to the local currency of the clubs you are purchasing from. It is an effective measurement of cash on hand that you are able to burn, and even if they must finance these purchases via credit from banks, that is a decent measurement of how much banks are willing to loan them- which again, is a measurement of financial strength. The Champions Cup champions, the Sabrefell Moths, are always going to have a bigger credit line than, say, Suwawa FC. That's just a fact of life. So that is a fair measurement, regardless of whether credit or cash is used to finance purchases.

Now, of course, we used quite a few numbers to rank the leagues. The first thing we should mention, of course, is that to rank leagues and clubs, we only used data points from the most three recent transfer windows. WE figured that was fair, as being the financially strongest club or league is a snapshot in time. Manechester City, of the Equestrian States, for example, spending $90 million NSDs on one player in the 7th window, isn't exactly a fair representation of the financial capabilities of their club right now. We developed a formula to create a financial power index, using a combination of total spending, and average spending per purchase, to be able to compile this list.

Now, of course, as with any academic research project, there is going to be a flaw- nothing is perfect. And we will admit ours. We only have access to a limited amount of data, which is the transfer window. It's not like the Galacticos Index, where they have access to all sorts of data on a player. There is no way for our methodology to tell if Manechester City is still capable of dropping $90 million NSDs on a player- neither the United Hoofball Association, or Manechester City, is going to open their books to us. WE don't know how much revenue those clubs bring in from media rights and ticket sales and all that- we can only measure financial strength that is demonstrated in the transfer window, not any club's or league's potential financial muscle. So the most accurate description would be a demonstrated financial power index. The other flaw, of course, is that it weights nations with clubs who are willing to spend beyond what they have earned in transfer sales, resulting in a surprise or two.

That said, we are giving this project a go. This is going to be a four part series. Part 1, which is being presented today, is going to list the associations that are not among the top 20 in financial power. This, of course, will be a ranking, but it will be just that- a ranking, with their total spending, average per purchase spending, and their total money received in transfer fees. Part 2 will then list the top 20 associations, with those rankings. For these associations, we will release their Financial Power Index number publicly. Part 3, will list the top 20 financially powerful clubs, and Part 4, will list the richest individual transfer fees- the top fees garnered in the last three windows, and the top fees garnered all time.

A few technical notes, then, before we get the ball rolling.

Note #1: There was a strong debate about how to deal with multi-associational leagues. Should the financial strength of clubs from, say, Freeport, the Equestrian States, and the Crystal Empire be measured seperately, even if they all compete under the United Hoofball Association umbrella? For the purposes of this project, we said yes. They are seperate, independent countries, even if closely aligned, so revenue generation could be different in each one. That, of course, would effect the financial strength of clubs in each nation. Clubs in the Crystal Empire, for example, could maybe make more money than clubs in the Equestrian States, who make more money than clubs in Freeport. There is no way to independently verify this as true or false, so we decided to treat them separately for the purposes of this project.

Note #2: Durham City, in Transfer Window 22, was listed twice without a trigramme by our official records. After scouring UICA documents, it was determined that Durham City is most likely the same named team from North Prarie, and has been included in our data as such.

Note #3: While we took sales into account of measuring financial power, ultimately, purchases needed to be made. So any nations that did not purchase any players, even if they made sales, were not included in our ranking.

Note #4: Free transfers were ignored for the purposes of our data sheet. Transfers listed for $0.00(aka list on the final locked transfers sheet) were included for the purposes of our data.

Note #5: Not every country has requirements disclosing money spent in transfers. So there are countries who got players, but no way for use to figure out how much they spent, or countries whose clubs made sales, but no purchases. Those seven countries that fall into those categories, and therefore, cannot be ranked, are Farfadillis, Republique Prahecqoise, Turori, Vilita, Gloriax, Zwangzug, and Eshan.

Note #6: Velestria is the internationally recognized successor state of Razenthuria. Therefore, all clubs listed as Razenthurian in Window 22 were re-listed as Velestrian clubs for the purposes of our rankings.

Note #7: As we mentioned before, all data is from Transfer Windows 22, 23, and 24 put together. No window is weighted more than another.

O-LEAGUE : SEASON XIV - PART ONE

After a long hiatus, the O-League returns for Season Fourteen (don't ask what happened to Thirteen), with the "Big Three" of Ousevale, Mercia, and Avidia gunning for the title in a largest-ever twenty team league. It's been long enough, though, so let's just skip the preamble and get down to business, shall we?

MATCHDAY 1
Well, that was unexpected. Ousevale lay a massive egg to start the season, as they found themselves humbled at the Isserson. No such worries for Avidia or Mercia, who both win comfortably; they're joined at the top by Beckton Supermarine, who impressed greatly in their win over Kovenham.

Results:
Leston Town 1-2 New Cefn Albion
Emberton Reds 3-1 Ousevale Borough
Caledon Simpson 0-1 Casuals Osteria
Mercia Bromham 3-0 Adanac City
Caversham 1-0 Royal Emberton
Avidia City 1-1 Stanton Town
Locomotive Wolverton 1-3 Ashton Olympic
Notegia Rangers 0-1 Bradwell Saints
CF Avides 2-5 Avidia United
Beckton Supermarine 3-0 NSE Kovenham

MATCHDAY 2
Ousevale's first home game of the season was, if we're honest, not much of an improvement. They are at least off the mark courtesy of a two-all draw, but it's a result fellow Mercians Leston Town will be far happier with. The Reds, meanwhile, laboured to a one-nil victory up north, and it's Avidia United leading at this early stage on goal difference after a comfortable victory over Loco.

Results:
Ousevale Borough 2-2 Leston Town
Casuals Osteria 3-1 New Cefn Albion
Adanac City 0-1 Emberton Reds
Royal Emberton 0-0 Caledon Simpson
Stanton Town 1-1 Mercia Bromham
Ashton Olympic 2-0 Caversham
Bradwell Saints 2-0 Avidia City
Avidia United 3-0 Locomotive Wolverton
NSE Kovenham 0-0 Notegia Rangers
Beckton Supermarine 2-2 CF Avides

MATCHDAY 3
United top the table by two points as others fall around them; they're made to work for it, though, as Caversham push them all the way. Bradwell, meanwhile, nip into second after a well-earned point away to Mercia.

Lower down, favourites Ousevale now sit in ninth place after demolishing poor Adanac; the side from the northern fringe are now the only team in the league without a point to their name.

Results:
Leston Town 1-0 Casuals Osteria
Ousevale Borough 6-1 Adanac City
New Cefn Albion 0-1 Royal Emberton
Emberton Reds 0-1 Stanton Town
Caledon Simpson 4-3 Ashton Olympic
Mercia Bromham 1-1 Bradwell Saints
Caversham 1-2 Avidia United
Avidia City 4-1 NSE Kovenham
Locomotive Wolverton 1-1 Beckton Supermarine
Notegia Rangers 2-0 CF Avides

MATCHDAY 4
If nothing else, the early part of the season has well and truly established the Second City pecking order. Whilst United were busy ekeing out their fourth win on the spin, Avidia's other two teams met at the Rey Felicio, with Avides cruising past City four to none.

Ashton, meanwhile, slip into second, albeit three points behind the leaders.

Results:
Adanac City 0-0 Leston Town
Royal Emberton 1-0 Casuals Osteria
Stanton Town 3-3 Ousevale Borough
Ashton Olympic 1-0 New Cefn Albion
Bradwell Saints 2-2 Emberton Reds
Avidia United 1-0 Caledon Simpson
NSE Kovenham 0-4 Mercia Bromham
Beckton Supermarine 1-1 Caversham
CF Avides 4-0 Avidia City
Notegia Rangers 1-0 Locomotive Wolverton

MATCHDAY 5
Who'd be a Saints fan? Unbeaten in four, fourth in the table...hopes are high, right? Especially when you're capable of putting six past the mighty Ousevale. Sadly for Bradwell, though, the Tigers scored eight in reply.

The Eagles, meanwhile, remain perched serenely at the top of the league after a demolition job against New Cefn; with Ashton beaten by Casuals, it's now unfancied Notegia Rangers who take second place, five points off the top.

Results:
Leston Town 2-1 Royal Emberton
Adanac City 1-0 Stanton Town
Casuals Osteria 2-0 Ashton Olympic
Ousevale Borough 8-6 Bradwell Saints
New Cefn Albion 0-4 Avidia United
Emberton Reds 1-1 NSE Kovenham
Caledon Simpson 3-2 Beckton Supermarine
Mercia Bromham 1-1 CF Avides
Caversham 0-1 Notegia Rangers
Avidia City 1-1 Locomotive Wolverton

MATCHDAY 6
Ousevale: not as dead as we thought. The Tigers haul themselves up to third spot with an absolute mullering of hapless Kovenham. Avidia, meanwhile, drop points for the first time this season with a draw at home to Casuals; Notegia stay second with a tight victory over Caledon Simpson.

Results:
Stanton Town 2-0 Leston Town
Ashton Olympic 1-1 Royal Emberton
Bradwell Saints 2-1 Adanac City
Avidia United 2-2 Casuals Osteria
NSE Kovenham 0-7 Ousevale Borough
Beckton Supermarine 1-1 New Cefn Albion
CF Avides 0-5 Emberton Reds
Notegia Rangers 1-0 Caledon Simpson
Locomotive Wolverton 3-3 Mercia Bromham
Avidia City 0-1 Caversham

KFA CUP ROUND ONE
The knockout competition gets going, thout the top flight clubs get a bye through to Round 2. Doesn't mean there isn't intrigue, though; from former winners Ousevale Juniors coming a cropper against no-marks Fenwick, to the likes of Thackworth, Norton, and Monthuez going one-and-done against inferior opposition, the chance to draw a big gun proves there's much to play for.

Grafton Town 1-0 Stratford Rovers
Prutton 2-0 Porthscadoch
Sladehill Rovers 2-1 Emberton Sorthern
Bohemians Tyfield 1-1 Catton Regis (1-1 AET, 3-1 PKs)

CFF Monthuez 1-1 Ilham and Welford (1-1 AET, 3-4 PKs)
Tyfield City 1-4 Bletcham Devils

MATCHDAY 7
Avidia prove they're human after all at Oxley Park; Notegia, meanwhile, can't keep their run of wins going and give up second place to...Ousevale. Normal service resumed.

At the bottom, Kovenham pick up their first win of the season against fellow strugglers Adanac, leaving Wolverton as the lone team without a W thus far.

Results:
Leston Town 1-3 Ashton Olympic
Stanton Town 3-2 Bradwell Saints
Royal Emberton 2-1 Avidia United
Adanac City 0-1 NSE Kovenham
Casuals Osteria 1-2 Beckton Supermarine
Ousevale Borough 4-0 CF Avides
New Cefn Albion 0-0 Notegia Rangers
Emberton Reds 2-1 Locomotive Wolverton
Caledon Simpson 0-1 Avidia City
Mercia Bromham 3-0 Caversham

MATCHDAY 8
As you were with the top two thanks to wins for Avidia United and Ousevale, whilst Emberton Reds remind everyone they still exist by creeping into third spot with a win over Caversham. Kovenham, meanwhile, now have three times as many points from their last two games than from their first five as they record their second win on the spin.

Results:
Leston Town 1-3 Ashton Olympic
Stanton Town 3-2 Bradwell Saints
Royal Emberton 2-1 Avidia United
Adanac City 0-1 NSE Kovenham
Casuals Osteria 1-2 Beckton Supermarine
Ousevale Borough 4-0 CF Avides
New Cefn Albion 0-0 Notegia Rangers
Emberton Reds 2-1 Locomotive Wolverton
Caledon Simpson 0-1 Avidia City
Mercia Bromham 3-0 Caversham

MATCHDAY 9
Well, the inevitable has happened. Avidia surprisingly dropped two points at Lay's Road, the Tigers made no mistake at home, and it's Ousevale top of the tree for the first time this season. Of course, it's only on goal difference, and you have the Reds on the same number of points as well, but still. Ousevale top. Yawn.

One name you'll notice is missing there is Mercia Bromham. The Midlanders are still undefeated; however, their draw with NEw Cefn was their sixth in just nine games and they lie five points off the leaders in seventh.

Results:
Leston Town 1-1 Avidia United
Bradwell Saints 3-0 NSE Kovenham
Ashton Olympic 2-1 Beckton Supermarine
Stanton Town 1-0 CF Avides
Royal Emberton 2-2 Notegia Rangers
Adanac City 1-1 Locomotive Wolverton
Casuals Osteria 3-1 Avidia City
Ousevale Borough 2-1 Caversham
New Cefn Albion 2-2 Mercia Bromham
Emberton Reds 2-1 Caledon Simpson

MATCHDAY 10
Caledon Simpson, you cheeky buggers! The Caleys shocked the league leaders at Walton Gardens, creating merry hell at the top of the table. Avidia could only draw on the Beck coast, and Emberton Reds annihilated New Cefn to lead the pack. Credit too, to Bradwell; the Saints' victory over CF Avides puts them level on points with Ousevale in fourth.

Results:
Leston Town 1-1 Avidia United
Bradwell Saints 3-0 NSE Kovenham
Ashton Olympic 2-1 Beckton Supermarine
Stanton Town 1-0 CF Avides
Royal Emberton 2-2 Notegia Rangers
Adanac City 1-1 Locomotive Wolverton
Casuals Osteria 3-1 Avidia City
Ousevale Borough 2-1 Caversham
New Cefn Albion 2-2 Mercia Bromham
Emberton Reds 2-1 Caledon Simpson

The Fekadu Financial Power Index - Part II
Authored by Dr. Sololeya Fekadu, Dean of the College of Sports Studies at Northern Moravica University

Hello again! And I am back here to bring you part II of the Financial Power Index, developed here at Northern Moravica University (Banija).

There isn’t much to add here in this introduction, as part II is simply a continuation of part I. But with the top 20 wealthiest associations in the multiverse, we are going to include a short analysis with most of them- why they are ranked where they are ranked, and how that compares to their actual ranking in the UICA. Whether or not these nations are getting the most bang of their bucks.

I’ll let you get to reading then. I’ll see you back for Part III, when we talk about some of the largest transfers of all time.

Top 20 Associations
All financial numbers listed in NSDs. All numbers rounded to two decimal places.

#20: Marianne(MAR). Financial Power Index: 2.61
Total Spending: $40.90 million. Average Purchase: $2.92 million. Total Sales: $13 million.

No analysis necessary as they have not participated in the past two UICA competitions. Ranked 110th in the UICA.

#19: Ceni(CEN). Financial Power Index: 3.32
Total Spending: $24 million. Average Purchase: $6 million. Total Sales: $115.25 million.

No analysis necessary as they have not participated in the past two UICA competitions. Ranked 27th in the UICA.

#18: Ethane(ETN). Financial Power Index: 3.49
Total Spending: $100.6 million. Average Purchase: $2.45 million. Total Sales: $109.1 million.

When you talk about nations that are fiscally responsible, that come close to balancing the checkbook, a few come to mind. Of course, it is not Ethane, but Mriin whose clubs come the closest, with a $550,000 difference between how much their clubs sent out and brought in over the past three windows. Ethane, however, is another one that comes fairly close, with their clubs receiving $109.1 million in transfer fees, while spending $100 million dollars worth of that money.

Their position on this list seems fair to their strength within the UICA- the world’s 18th wealthiest association being ranked 26th in the UICA table? That absolutely seems fair. That is, is money well spent by Flame League clubs, though we imagine their numbers to rise as they continue to try and aggressively climb the UICA table.

#17: Mytanija(MYT). Financial Power Index: 3.94
Total Spending: $49 million. Average Purchase: $3.5 million. Total Sales: $10.05 million.

Mytanija is ranked 47th in the UICA, which would seem that there is a disconnect between the money that they’re spending, and the bang that they are getting for their buck. But that UICA ranking, like most numbers, requires context. They’ve only participated in this competition twice, so being ranked 47th and approaching the top 32, for that second Champions Cup spot, is an absolutely terrific ranking for how young the Mytanar Top League is. To put it in context, they earned 6.875 coefficient points in their first ever UICA competition, season 72. To put that number in context, Bannija have participated in 6 straight seasons of UICA competition, and never once have Banijan teams earned that many coefficient points In a single season.

So, it is fair to say that they are getting the bang for their buck. While they had a disappointing dropoff in UICA 73, earning only 1.875 points this past competition, a dropoff was to be expected after a thrilling inaugural campaign. That said, they find themselves on solid financial footing early on into their participation in the UICA, and as they continue to climb the table, we expect them to likely move up this list as well.

#16: Equestrian States(EQS). Financial Power Index: 3.98
Total Spending: $71.25 million. Average Purchase: $3.96 million. Total Sales: $77.51 million.

Now, for the Equestrian States. Ranked 16th in financial power, and are in a league with the Crystal Empire and Freeport, who were both ranked behind the United Hoofball Association’s central power. The Equestrian States has always had money, but that proved to be more true in the past than the present. Manechester City has two of the top all-time purchases in the history of international transfers, as they have spent above $90 million on a player twice(more on that to come, of course, in Part III of our financial power index).

While no longer spending that kind of money, the Equestrian States are still a force to be reckoned with on the transfer market. Their association, however, is only ranked 57th in the multiverse. They are willing to spend, when necessary, though of course, they make quite a bit of money from the transfer market as well. There is a demand for Equestrian talent, and that is shown in the net profit that Equestrian clubs pulled across the last trio of transfer windows.

#15: Kita-Hinode(HIN). Financial Power Index: 4.17
Total Spending: $43 million. Average Purchase: $3.91 million. Total Sales: $750,000

The disparity is certainly surprising for many of us, between the total spending and total sales for teams from Kita-Hinode. Only $750,000 made from transfer fees across the last three windows- and yet, $43 million spent from the clubs across the Hinodejin Empire. That isn’t exactly a massive sum, in this lucrative business called transfers, to spent spent across three different windows, but it is when you compare it to the few international sales that clubs from the KiHi-League are making. That shows that clubs from the Hinodejin Empire are certainly not reliant on funding their transfers through transfer fees recouped, even if they aren’t exactly dropping massive amounts of money in the market. That shows some of the financial strength of the league.

#14: Darmen(DAR). Financial Power Index: 4.24
Total Spending: $63.3 million. Average Purchase: $2.88 million. Total Sales: $10.95 million.

Darmen is a rising nation in UICA terms, breaking into the top 32 and, most crucially, a second Champions Cup berth for Series A clubs. They are making that slow, steady climb up the UICA table, similar to the one nations like Banija and Mercedini are making, and with the breakthrough in Champions Cup berths, that means the potential for a big monetary pot is much, much better.

Darmeni clubs have averaged over $21 million per window in spending over the past three windows, while averaging under $4 million in sales. This shows that they are not only looking to acquire talent, but not becoming a selling league. They are looking to acquire talent, and hold onto that talent, to develop those players as they make the league stronger, so they can continue that rise up the table.

#13: Pasarga(PAS). Financial Power Index: 4.40
Total Spending: $67.25 million. Average Purchase: $3.96 million. Total Sales: $57 million.

This is one of those leagues that are getting a lot of bang for their buck. Pasarga has been around for a long time- a nation with a history, a rich history, In this sport, at both the club and the national level of play. They are “only” ranked 13th in terms of their financial power. They have spent a decent amount of money, and made a solid amount back in transfer fees, with Pasargan clubs not exactly going out there to make the big splashes all the time.

They are ranked 13th on this list, but they are ranked 8th in the UICA- an excellent return for the dollars that they are spending. With three Champions Cup spots, they have more UICA berths than a number of the associations ahead of them on this list, which speaks to smart money being spent, and the preference for local talent in the SuperLiga. Money, while important, certainly isn’t everything, and Pasarga is evidence that you don’t need to strictly drop the big bucks to have success in the UICA.

#12: Schottia(SCT). Financial Power Index: 4.67
Total Spending: $78.2 million. Average Purchase: $6.52 million. Total Sales: $267.10 million.

Is the Schottia Premier League a selling league? Well, considering they’ve been on a bit of a hiatus, that might be a stretch, but it looks as if they are returning to the fold. Even without participation in UICA competition the past two seasons, they are still ranked 19th in the UICA, which shows how strong the SPL was when it was participating in the UICA. Of course, even the Schottia national team had that same kind of strength, their World Cup 79 winning squad considered one of the greatest of all-time. And two seasons ago, they were at the top of the world, achieving the #1 overall ranking in both the KPB and the UICA at their height, an incredible feat.

But with the SPL on a two season hiatus, there was a boatload of SPL talent available, and the rest of the multiverse was ready to shell out the big bucks for these players. And they did so- to the tune of over a quarter of a billion dollars over the past three windows. Even with the imbalance, that aggregate amount of money means that Schottian clubs, on aggregate, have almost $190 million in the bank from transfer fees alone- and if we know anything about their rise to become head and shoulders above the rest, then we can bet that some of that money they banked over the last couple of seasons might be spent in the upcoming years, as they look to restart their climb to glory.

#11: Brenecia(BRE). Financial Power Index: 4.80
Total Spending: $112.25 million. Average Purchase: $2.74 million. Total Sales: $105.15 million.

If you talk about a league and a nation that gets the most bang for their buck, in terms of absolute value, the conversation largely starts, and frankly, ends, with Brenecia. They, a long-time institution, with a rich history in the sport at both the club and national level, are not the financial juggernauts that people would think them to be. In this UICA, Northern Union of Brenecia made a run all the way to the final, and just two World Cup cycles ago, the Brenecia national team walked out of Starblaydia & The Equestrian States as World Cup champions. Their national team is ranked 5th in the multiverse, their association at the club level is ranked 3rd in the UICA- and yet, they are not even top 10 in terms of financial power.

That is a large credit, and a tip of the cap, to the association there. Without the means of wealthier associations, both behind and above them in the UICA rankings, they are, on a consistent basis, cranking out world-class talent- even if, in some circles, they are known as a selling league. Even if selling league would be a stretch to describe the A-League and the lower levels of the Brenecian pyramid, this nation is the living proof that dollars only go so far- and even if your country lacks the spending power of the nations below, that you can still rise and become the crème of the crop.

#10: Banija(BNJ). Financial Power Index: 6.86
Total Spending: $100.15 million. Average Purchase: $3.13 million. Total Sales: $31.3 million.

And now, for Banija- my own nation. Of course, considering my bio in part I, and the magazine that we write out of, there is no need for me to put a disclaimer. Banijan clubs, anchored by their top-tier BSL, have spent, in aggregate, $100 million dollars over the course of the last three transfer windows- a stunning amount. Financially responsible? Is that where the revenues are? Regardless, bringing in foreign talent into the league has undoubtedly brought up the league’s quality.

The BSL has been making a rise up the UICA ranks, and now, for the first time, will have two berths in the UICA Champions Cup next season. That suggests the money is well spent- but, of course, they could be spending better, as they are slightly behind what their spending suggests. But with the lack of sales, it is clear- there is no intention from anyone in this country for the league to be a selling league, developing others talent and only selling them onto bigger clubs. The BSL has ambitions, and we’ll see if they will be able to meet them.

#9: Apox(APX). Financial Power Index: 7.59
Total Spending: $160.35 million. Average Purchase: $3.91 million. Total Sales: $206.85 million.

The other World Cup 82 co-hosts, The Apox Premier League deals with big numbers. Spending, on aggregate, more than $50 million a window over the past three windows, they have brought in even bigger bucks than that, with total sales north of $200 million total across the three windows that we studied. The Apox Premier League has flexed its financial muscle time and time again in the transfer market, and being a co-host of World Cup 82, will get a chance to put some of that home-grown talent on display.

Do they get a good return on the money they spend? They are ranked 20th in the UICA. Firmly have two Champions Cup spots, but they’ve been going at this for a while. UICA Season 72 was their best one in the last five years, picking up ten coefficient points en route to flying up the UICA ranks in that season. They are climbing, and from that perspective, that kind of financial strength will help their gains on a long-term basis.

#8: Valladares(VLD). Financial Power Index: 7.81
Total Spending: $83.5 million. Average Purchase: $6.96 million. Total Sales: $96.5 million.

Valladares has always been a strong power in this sport. And with their domestic league cranking out top-tier talent, they are one of those leagues that brings in more money than they spend- and yet, they find themselves 8th on this list, of financial strength. A league that is traditonanly reliant on domestic talent, that makes sense. There has always been a demand for talent from Valladares, and yet, there has not been a matching demand for foreign talent in Valldares- therefore, the fact that they have more sales, on aggregate, than purchases makes a lot of sense.

They are 8th on this list, and 10th in the UICA- a good return for what they are spending. They’ve been going at it in Valladares for many years, and we wouldn’t expect much to change- but if their clubs choose to be bigger spenders on the international transfer market, we would certainly expect that they have the capability of doing so.

#7: Mercedini(MRC). Financial Power Index: 9.71
Total Spending: $100.5 million. Average Purchase: $5.29 million. Total Sales: $67.7 million.

Mercedini is, of course, a solidly wealthy country. They have been to the World Cup twice, World Cup 77 and World Cup 81, on Banija’s shores. And they’re ranked 31st in the UICA- being able to maintain the Mercedinian Premier League’s two spots in the UICA Champions Cup. They are a league that is rising, and that is shown in the way that they spend- $100 million dollars over the last three windows is certainly nothing to sneeze at.

Again, however, there is a disconnect- while being 30th in the UICA rankings is certainly a good place, they are 7th on this list in terms of financial wealth- suggesting a slight disparity between spending and outcomes. Of course, this is a fairly young league, and it is likely that spending that propelled Mercedini to their present position in the first place- and that will propel them past that as well.

#6: Audioslavia(AUD). Financial Power Index: 10.58
Total Spending: $126.6 million. Average Purchase: $10.55 million. Total Sales: $216.25 million.

Audioslavia finds itself as an interesting case. They are, of course, the highest ranking association on this list whose clubs made more money in transfer fees than they spent. And they did so to a staggering amount- with Audioslavian clubs, on aggregate, making a net profit of $90 million dollars across the last three transfer windows. That, of course, anchored by well over $200 million in total sales, shows that they have the money to be a financial powerhouse.

The strongest argument in favor of their wealth is not their large transfer fees received, even though they made quite a bit of money. The strongest argument is the average purchase. When Audioslavian clubs go to buy a player, they do not mess around- they had the highest average purchase across the past three seasons, spending a staggering $10.55 million per player. When the numbers are that large, it is no wonder that they kind find themselves 6th on this list, and 9th in the UICA table.

#5: Valanora(VAL). Financial Power Index: 20.17
Total Spending: $140 million. Average Purchase: $6.36 million. Total Sales: $33 million.

And now here Valanora, the second wealthiest association in Altantian Oceania- though the wealthiest in the Glorious Southwest subregion. If they did an all-time ranking of national teams, there would be a strong argument for Valanora to be #1, and it’s easy to see why. The World Cup 82 co-hosts have won the World Cup a staggering five times, and Raynor City United, a Vanorian Club, has won the multiverse’s highest club trophy, the UICA Champions Cup, a staggering five times as well. If anyone knows what winning tastes like, it’s Valanora.

Banijan fans, of course, will remember Hondo FC’s purchase of Aaron Aiza. A league with a deep history, it has always been a talent factory for those Vanorian title winning sides, and for other World Cup winners as well. Vanorian clubs spent well over $100 million dollars more than they brought in via transfer fees, and it is no surprise that clubs in this country, anchored by the Elven Premiership, find themselves so high on this list.

#4: Velestria(VLZ). Financial Power Index: 22.86
Total Spending: $103.2 million. Average Purchase: $10.32 million. Total Sales: $36.45 million.

If you talk about the league that has the biggest disconnect between their spending, and their results, it is the LigVezia Series A. The other leagues in the top 10, outside of maybe the BSL, have all been around for many years, participating in international competition and having won trophies at the highest level. Not Velestria. Velestria’s league is very young, having only participated in UICA competition twice. But that doesn’t mean that clubs in Velestria aren’t ambitious- far from it.

The old adage is that it takes time to climb the UICA rankings, but Velestria is proving that all wrong. LigVezia Series A owners are dropping the big bucks, spending a staggering per purchase average of $10.32 million dollars per player- good for the second highest per player average in the entire UICA. Now we say there is a disconnect between spending and results, and that is true, to an extent, since they are 61st in the UICA. But if this spending can turbocharge a faster than normal rise into the upper ranks of the UICA, rising with the speed of a league like the Pug Qusmyra in Qusmo, who took just 3 seasons to rise to 25th in the world, then it is the Velestrians who will be having the last laugh.

#3: Cosumar(COS). Financial Power Index: 43.76
Total Spending: $450.5 million. Average Purchase: $5.63 million. Total Sales: $349.15 million.

Yet another financially powerful organization, anchored by the Härlighet Ligan. Their clubs were extremely quiet in the 24th window, with Cosumarite clubs not making a single purchase of value during the entire window. What might have been? This means, of course, that we only had two years of data to study with them, but the numbers were staggering. Them spending $450 million across the three windows was third most in the multiverse- and those dollars were only spent in Windows 22 and 23. Their clubs have shown the ability, and the desire, to shell out the big bucks, which is how they’re still ranked as the 3rd wealthiest league in the multiverse.

The money is well spent, as they are presently have the 6th highest coefficient in the UICA- plenty to be happy about. That comes with, of course, three spots in the Champions Cup, a status shared by only 8 associations, out of the 133 that are currently and presently ranked.

#2: Nephara(NPH). Financial Power Index: 54.82
Total Spending: $596.15 million. Average Purchase: $5.1 million. Total Sales: $414.43 million.

The association, who are presently ranked #1 in the UICA in terms of coefficient, anchored by the Nepharim Premiership. They are, without a doubt, one of the most powerful leagues in the sport. If you look, this association is the most active out of any in the transfer market every year, based strictly on dollar value. Over the course of the last three transfer windows, Nepharim clubs have been involved in over $1 billion dollars in transactions- a massive amount, in what is absolutely a lucrative business.

They showcase their strength in a number of areas. By our index(coming in Part 4!), three of the top 5 wealthiest clubs in the multiverse play in the Nepharim Premiership. Nepharim clubs, over the past three windows, spent just shy of $600 million NSDs, averaging just a hair shy of $200 million dollars in transfer fees spent per window, more than any other association. Nepharims seem to perculate the multiverse, with an incredible $414 million in transfer fees brought into Nepharim clubs by foreign entities. While, of course, we did not measure this, it wouldn’t’ be an unreasonable statement to say that there are more Nepharims playing abroad than players of any other nationality. It is, indeed, a giant in club football. Why weren’t they #1? Not much for what they didn’t do, but more what the top ranked association did do(which we’ll talk about below).

#1: Eura(EUR). Financial Power Index: 69.3
Total Spending: $480.8 million. Average Purchase: $6.97 million. Total Sales: $207.5 million.

And finally, the biggest financial juggernaut of them all- Eura, anchored by the Euran Gold League, is the multiverse’s biggest financial juggernaut. Now, of course, we spent quite a bit of time talking about the strength of the league above it. But Eura ranks 15 points in our Financial Power Index ahead of Nephara. Why? Well, first let’s look at their general numbers. Spending $480 million dollars across three windows is nothing to sneeze at. Their association is ranked second in the UICA, and they bring in all kinds of dollars, as their league regularly touts. And they are fairly high bidders on a per player basis as well, with their average purchase being $6.97 million NSDs.

Let’s look at the key number here, one not posted above. That number? $273.3 million. What is that number? That is the difference between total purchases, and sales. No other association even comes close to an amount like that. That means, on average, in the past three windows, Euran clubs spent over $91 million dollars in transfer fees than they brought in. And that number, my friends, is why they are ranked as the multiverse’s wealthiest association. Once you can consistently shell out tens of millions more than you receive in transfer fees on an annual basis, you know that there is a lot of money to back up the checks that are being written.

O-LEAGUE : SEASON XIV - PART TWO

MATCHDAY 11
Mercia Bromham don't like doing things easy. They managed to get the three points at Oxley Park, but only by the odd goal in eleven. Rivals Ousevale were probably glad that game deflected attention from their sputtering draw with the Albion, whilst Reds stay top after beating Casuals.

Results:
Leston Town 0-2 Beckton Supermarine
NSE Kovenham 2-5 CF Avides
Avidia United 2-1 Notegia Rangers
Bradwell Saints 1-1 Locomotive Wolverton
Ashton Olympic 4-0 Avidia City
Stanton Town 2-1 Caversham
Royal Emberton 5-6 Mercia Bromham
Adanac City 0-3 Caledon Simpson
Casuals Osteria 1-2 Emberton Reds
Ousevale Borough 1-1 New Cefn Albion

MATCHDAY 12
The Avidian derby (the original one, anyway) was a complete mismatch as United happered City at the Avidair. The Emberton derby was also a mismatch, but more of an unexpected one as the Royals took bragging rights whilst also allowing the Eagles to leapfrog the Reds at the top.

At the bottom, meanwhile, Locomotive Wolverton finally recorded their first win of the season, hauling themselves out of the drop zone in the process.

Results:
CF Avides 0-0 Leston Town
Notegia Rangers 1-1 Beckton Supermarine
Locomotive Wolverton 2-0 NSE Kovenham
Avidia City 2-7 Avidia United
Caversham 1-2 Bradwell Saints
Mercia Bromham 5-2 Ashton Olympic
Caledon Simpson 3-3 Stanton Town
Emberton Reds 1-4 Royal Emberton
New Cefn Albion 0-1 Adanac City
Ousevale Borough 3-1 Casuals Osteria

KFA CUP ROUND TWO
It's time for the top flight sides to enter - and time for a few to quickly exit. We'll let Adanac off - they lost to Mercia, after all, but Avides? Kovenham? Oh dear, oh dear. Credit too, to Bromham City, as the promotion chasers defeated Stanton, and Sporting Adanac, who held Casuals to a draw over ninety minutes before being outpunched in extra time.

Beckton Supermarine 3-0 Nenbridge
Valque United 0-2 Walton City
Adanac City 0-2 Mercia Bromham
Penniton United 2-0 Yraglac Fire

Shruton Town 0-1 Diorville
Prutton 1-0 Neathill
Grafton Town 0-2 Dereapolis City
Kallia United 1-2 Caversham
Caledon Simpson 2-0 Charnham Town

MATCHDAY 13
Four of the top five managed only draws - though to be fair, against other teams in the top eight - and that allowed Bradwell to sneak into third place, one point off the top.

We'll say that again. Bradwell Saints are one point off the O-League top spot.

Results:
Leston Town 1-1 Notegia Rangers
CF Avides 3-1 Locomotive Wolverton
Beckton Supermarine 3-2 Avidia City
NSE Kovenham 1-3 Caversham
Avidia United 0-0 Mercia Bromham
Bradwell Saints 4-1 Caledon Simpson
Ashton Olympic 1-1 Emberton Reds
Stanton Town 0-0 New Cefn Albion
Royal Emberton 2-2 Ousevale Borough
Adanac City 0-3 Casuals Osteria

MATCHDAY 14
IEmberton Reds and Avidia United shared the spoils at the Isserson...could Bradwell take advantage and go top?

Could they heck as like. Their defeat to New Cefn saw them sink to fourth, as Ousevale took back second place with a six-nil pasting of Ashton.

Results:
Locomotive Wolverton 1-1 Leston Town
Avidia City 1-2 Notegia Rangers
Caversham 1-0 CF Avides
Mercia Bromham 0-0 Beckton Supermarine
Caledon Simpson 1-1 NSE Kovenham
Emberton Reds 1-1 Avidia United
New Cefn Albion 2-0 Bradwell Saints
Ousevale Borough 6-0 Ashton Olympic
Casuals Osteria 0-1 Stanton Town
Adanac City 2-3 Royal Emberton

MATCHDAY 15
The top two meet at the New City Stadium, and it's honours even, which is good news for the chasing pack. Emberton can't quite take advantage, held by Beckton, but for the likes of Mercia and Bradwell, it's mana from heaven, and one point separates the top five.

MATCHDAY 19
They've been under the radar most of the season, but say it quietly; Mercia Bromham might be on title-winning form. A few too many draws means that they're five points off the leaders in fourth spot, but they're yet to lose this season. And just to remind us they're still relevant, thay dealt rivals Ousevale a smackdown at the Cygnus.

Emberton Reds now sit second, taking advantage of Ousevale's defeat, whilst the Eagles gave Kovenham a lesson in finishing to keep themselves in pole position.
