CMFA Champions League I

Forty (40) of the best clubs from ten (10) Tanah Melayu nations will be competing to be the best club in the region. The fourth-placed clubs from each nation will start their campaign in the Qualifying Stage. Five (5) clubs will then be eliminated in the Qualifying Stage.

The five (5) clubs that won their matches in the Qualifying Stage will proceed to the Playoff Stage and joined by a third-placed club chosen in a draw. Another three (3) clubs will then be eliminated in the Playoff Stage.

The three (3) clubs that won their matches in the Playoff Stage will proceed to the Group Stage and joined by the top two (2) clubs from each nation and another nine (9) third-placed clubs not drawn in the Playoff Stage. The thirty-two (32) clubs will be drawn into eight (8) groups of four (4) in which the top two of each group will proceed to the knockout stage.

The final match will be played in the 51,200 seaters Grefberg National Stadium in Khantari, the final venue of the second edition of The Malay World Cup.

Big Money Shakes Up Liga Starblaydia

In the aftermath of the 81st World Cup, and the perpetual shop window of the WCC cycle, there's always the excited chatter of transfer talk and ridiculous rumours rounded up in roving reports across the multiverse. These whisperings, however, only ever rarely involve Starblaydi clubs. Occasionally one or two free agents will make their way to a particularly cosmopolitan Liga Starblaydia side, but it was this Transfer Window where things really began to heat up.

Emboldened by increase revenues from two different sources, Starblaydi clubs set out to splash the cash for a range of players from Audioslavia, Pasarga, Cosumar, Vilita, Mercedini, Equestrian States and others. Mostly Atlantian Oceania players made their way to the regional powerhouse of Starblaydia, with two Under-21s going the other way to Vilita in the form of Kota Sato and Cosmo Leopoldi. But where did the money come from?

The first is increased revenues from TV deals, thanks to Liga Starblaydia returning to the Top 32 of the world's leagues. Led mostly by Jhanna City providing Starblaydia with excellent coefficient points, going back to two Champions Cup entries has really given the top clubs something to fight for. Secondly, a brand new sponsorship in the form of Vega, Starblaydia's largest retail bank, becoming the main brand partner with Liga Starblaydia. All the ediraf-produced kits will now include the Vega logo on their sleeves, with the deal rumoured to be pulling in billions of Credits that will hopefully filter through the SFA to the clubs themselves.

More money, more exposure and better foreign players are some of the best ways to improve the quality of Starblaydi talent at home, and this is one of Tororin Halatyrion's last pieces of the puzzle that he was putting in place before he graduated to World Cup Committee President. It's onwards and upwards for Liga Starblaydia, as its teams take a little more of the spotlight on the world stage than before.


Liga Starblaydia
Featured Team: Jhanna City

They're the defending Champions of Liga Starblaydia. They only just missed the group stage proper of the Champions Cup after a loss to Apoxian champions Banbury Town. They made it to the last sixteen of the Globe Cup, after winning their Group. They've almost single-handedly dragged Liga Starblaydia kicking and screaming into the Top 32 of the world's leagues. Atlantian Oceania Champions League Group Stagers. They're the Praetoran's club. They're not Jhanna-bloody-United. JCFC.

Jhanna City have spent the most money of all Starblaydi clubs, taking a title-winning side and improving it in practically every department. Cosumar's Cosimo Poole joins the front line, and Audioslavian Robdrick Brawn sees two young compatriots join in defence, Linf Canto and Pierre Pereire. Mercedini Under-21 defender Jordan Brindliev and a second Cosumarite, Kubra Babaturk, makes an entirely new back four. The real marquee signing, however, is Equestrian States goalkeeper Marilyn Peterson, signed from Schottian Club King's Park, to displace Nepharan goalie Cardinal Murrough to the bench. Peterson may 'only' be the Ponies' second string goalie, but she's a world-class shot stopper, denied the number 1 shirt purely by the greatness of Gentle Breeze.

The only issue with Jhanna City is that with so many new faces, can this title defence be successful with almost an entirely new side getting to grips with each other's game, under Jessica Garry's instructions?

Also look out for: Iskara Daii, who have added some Vilitan steel in the form of Kwuimekki Hentetii to their defence. Corinthian Spirits, splashing out on several players on the fringe of national squads from a number of nations. Hippion Overdrive's entirely new starting strike force of Audioslavian Fabregas, Pasargan Racicot and Equestrian States' Pelletier. Plus, in the managerial stakes, Althea Chenoweth of Brenecia taking over at Hallad Reavers, Pasargan Viviano Milani at Hecia. And (and!) what on earth will happen to Phraen Palace, as they managed an enormous sixteen draws last season to finish in 7th place - will new creative spark Ors Rátz of Pasarga kick them on to better things? There's so much to keep your eye on this season!


Liga Starblaydia 2
Featured Team: Cedrus Soundgardia

Cedrus Soundgardia were just a point away from safety last season, but despite that single point behind Tabeck FC, they were a massive fifteen goals behind in Goal Difference. They've learned from this, however, relying on their youth to bring through Tupu Alofa and young Theo Sigismund to the back four in order to keep their promotion hopes high. You think they'd sign some Audioslavians at some point, though, surely they want to play in Claret and Green at some point in their lives...

Also look out for: Keira Matranga trying to bring her Sporting Salicus side straight back up despite winning only two matches in thirty, scoring just seventeen goals. Penningworth United will also be trying to go straight back up. Don't count out Tournet Nicks or Tuncastle Rovers, though, as they're both looking to go one better than last season and make it into the promotion spots.


Liga Starblaydia 3
Featured Team: FC Farça

Farça are the team with the largest stadium in the land, but they're still down in the basement. They've got the potential, they've got the structure, but for some reason they just don't have the players and the results on the pitch. They'll have to scratch and claw their way back up, or languish outside of the popular, profitable games for the foreseeable future.

Also look out for: Nidola United only went down on goal difference, while Torpedo Bisarley were just a point below them in Liga 2.

Liga Baranil Season Preview:
Sparta Kuban:
Last Season Finish - 1st (Champions Playoff)
Summary - Overachieving in the Champions/Globe Cup qualification stage by winning 3 out of their 5 ties but underachieving in the CMFA Champions League by being knocked out in the semi finals by Iron Nest Shores FC, Sparta Kuban have shown to be an unpredictable side, and with different pundits predicting them to finish in varying places between 1st and 5th in Liga Baranil this season, they are bound for an exciting season for the neutral fan to feast their eyes upon.

UCA:
Last Season Finish - 2nd (Champions Playoff)
Summary - The image of their title winning side from 5 years ago is still fresh in the minds of many fans, but most of them also still have the image of relegation from four years prior to that after over two years of wait for Liga Baranil to return burnt into their minds. With the side reaching the final of the CMFA Champions League last season many fans are anticipating a successful year, but at the back of every fans mind is that they were playing Liga Nacionale football just 8 years ago, and with an average team having a one in four chance of getting relegated, and with their tiny fanbase not exactly providing the club a river of Gold (mainly due to Coedsburgh only having 689 inhabitants), one slip up could be all it takes to doom this side to possibly multiple relegations.

Dynamo Vodvok:
Last Season Finish - 3rd (Champions Playoff)
Summary - It has been 20 seasons (or 22 years if you prefer to put it that way) since Dynamo Vodvok fans have seen their team lift the Liga Baranil title, having seen their team being relegated down to the third tier since then before climbing their way back up to Liga Baranil two years ago, Dynamo Vodvok fans are dying to see their team lift Liga Baranil's trophy and add it to their aged trophy cabinet since they will not be able to lift the National Cup due to them competing in the CMFA Champions League and the Globe Cup in the offseason, adding a huge focus onto the league for their fans and anything short of the Championship will break the hearts of their fans who have been patiently waiting to lift the Liga Baranil trophy for the past 20 seasons, though it would be funny for everyone else if they were to get relegated and play their reserve team in Liga Nacionale next year.

Sparta Jocuka:
Last Season Finish - 4th (Champions Playoff)
Summary - Winning two out of the four Liga Baranil titles stretching either side of the four year long crisis in the early seventies, Sparta Jocuka are the club who have waited the longest to reclaim the Liga Baranil title, but at least their fans can say that they are actually in Liga Baranil, something that their rival Dynamo Jocuka can no longer say after the pastry of a season they had last time out.

Sparta Saint-Peter:
Last Season Finish - 1st (Pro-Rel Playoff)
Summary - Topping the Pro-Rel Playoff to gain promotion unlike Liga Nacionale Champions UKA last season, Sparta Saint-Peter's performance last year was simply outstanding for their fans to see, their fans have modest hopes of survival but 5/8 pundits we asked said that they expect Sparta Saint-Peter to finish fourth in Liga Baranil, which would make survival definite for the new boys.

USC:
Last Season Finish - 2nd (Pro-Rel Playoff)
Summary - Being the best team in Baranil without ever having won Liga Baranil and failing to qualify for the Globe Cup last time out, winning the title is out of the question for USC. However, with their Owner managing to scrape together enough funds for him to buy several good quality players, mostly from Ruben Oranburg though a few were from abroad, it is not unlikely that USC could qualify for the Globe Cup this season and give their fans some preseason football to watch from around the world.

Mordov Rogak:
Last Season Finish - 3rd (Pro-Rel Playoff)
Summary - Nobody has really high hopes for Mordov Rogak with the best thing that can be said about them is that they could go under the radar of every team and suprise us all by having a good season like CSKA Vodvok did in their title winning season, though not one of our pundits has said that they have a chance of winning the title.

Lokomotiv Kuban:
Last Season Finish - 4th (Pro-Rel Playoff)
Summary - The most successful club in Baranil's history winning 15/47 league titles and being the team making the most revenue out of all of the teams in Baranil, narrowly beating out their rivals of Sparta Kuban, it would be an insult to their massive fanbase if they failed to qualify for back-to-back Champions Playoffs after last season's performance but the good news for their fans is that they likely will qualify for the Globe Cup.

Ruben Oranburg:
Last Season Finish - 5th (Pro-Rel Playoff)
Summary - Beating out CSKA Vodvok by a goal on goal difference to automatically assure their Liga Baranil status for this year, Ruben Oranburg were already in a tough situation with this being made worse by how their previous owner left in the offseason, sneakily taking all of the club's savings with him, along with a loan of 2,500,000 Warajas whcih went straight to his bank account to the expense of the club. A new owner took charge only 10 days before the start of the next season and has said publicly that the club's coffers are dry and that he doesn't have the massive amount of money that he would have to have so that he could pump into the club to buy the players needed to help the challenge for the Champions Playoff, which was made even worse when he saw that the club owed 3,150,000 Warajas including interest to a Loan Shark. Somehow making their situation worse was how the transfer window was nearly shut leaving the club no time for scouting players, Ruben Oranburg were forced to quickly sell their best players who hadn't already retired and call up ten youth players to field an "alright squad with what we had to work with" and "a club capable of obtaining the occasional draw" just so they wouldn't go bankrupt after two games of the season. No one has any hopes for them whatsoever.

CSKA Vodvok:
Last Season Finish - 6th (Pro-Rel Playoff)
Summary - The return of the one-time champs via the Million Waraja Game has left their fans overjoyed with the aim of the first season being survival, which doesn't look too difficult for CSKA to accomplish with the quality of the team that they field, especially since Ruben Oranburg will occupy one of the three automatic Liga Nacionale spaces in the Pro-Rel Playoff.

Procedural Notes:

• The entries of Olympic de Crystal (Equestria Magna) and Versatio Giants (Mapletish) were rejected as both nations have reportedly ceased to exist.
• The entry of Mortinenses (Dreamplanet) was rejected as the aforementioned club did not win a domestic cup competition.
• The entries of Royal Puncakpura (Eraman) and CSKA Oranburg (Baranil) were rejected as both associations failed to fully submit their cup results.
• The entry of Kabanalan SC 004 (Filindostan) was accepted on the condition that for next season the Filindostani FA submits its cup results according to Cup Winners' Cup regulations. Failure to comply with this provision will result in the exclusion of its entry for next season.
• Real Azuris (Cosumar) were entered into the competition as titleholders, despite the Cosumarite FA forgot to include them in the relevant entry papers along with their cup winners.
• The Valladar Football Association would like to apologize to its counterparts in the Mriin FA for the involuntary exclusion of AFC Hosingr from the preliminary draw. This mistake has been amended, and fortunately only three ties from the initial draw had to be altered in order to accommodate this extra entrant. That said, there was no need for a redraw.

Welcome one and all to the forty-seventh edition of the Cup Winners' Cup, brought to you by the Valladar Football Association. This edition of the competition will see 45 clubs from 44 associations participate, an increase of 3 clubs and 3 associations from the last edition, with Real Azuris entering as Cup Winners' Cup titleholders despite failing to qualify through the Cosumarite domestic cup system. With 45 clubs taking part in this edition, the competition will retain the format used in the last edition: the cup winners from the twenty-six lowest ranked associations in the latest UICA coëfficients will take part in the preliminary round, with the 13 winners joining the remaining 19 clubs in the first round proper, from where the competition will be played in a straight knockout format. Current Cup Winners' Cup titleholders Real Azuris and Vanorian giants Raynor City United start this edition with their aim set on yet another CWC final victory, although Eura's Spartangrad and Cazadores Cathair from Audioslavia look strong enough to claim the cup for themselves. Final Site Election

Only one FA (Kelssek) expressed its interest in hosting this edition's final and sent its bid within the deadline, being accepted by the Organizing Committee. In light of the situation, the members of the Organizing Committee saw no need to think of any absurd or crazy selection processes/challenges and instead decided to choose the venue by acclamation. Thus the stadium that will host the forty-seventh Cup Winners' Cup final will be Exhibition Place in Kirkenes, Kelssek (cap. 38,600).

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. TWO TEAMS MAY ENTER. Each football association residing in the region of Esportiva is entitled to send two (2) teams from its domestic league into the Campionato Esportivano di Campeones (the "Contest").
   
   1. The first team must be a league regular-season champion or the winner of a post-season play-off, except as noted in section C of this rule.
   2. The second team must qualify on sporting merit, such as being the second-place team in the final league table, the playoff finals loser, or, if a post-season play-off is held, the regular season winner, except as noted in section C of this rule.
   3. EXCEPTIONS.
      
      1. APERTURA-CLAUSURA STYLED LEAGUES. Leagues with two distinct halves may, at their association's discretion, submit the two winners of each half, unless the same team wins both halves of the league, in which the football association reserves the right to send a second team on sporting merit using the criteria above.
      2. LEAGUES UTILIZING AN EXTRANEOUS POINT SYSTEM. Leagues using special points systems for determining post-season play should submit the top two teams at the end-of-season special points table. An example of an extraneous point system is the Damukuni Football League's Championship Points System.
2. ENTRY FORM. Each football association must preface its entrant within a box as follows:
   

   Samplestan (XYZ) qualifiers
   CEdC: Sample United FC, Sample City FC

   
   If this rule is not followed, the entry form will be voided and your teams will not be able to participate. NOTE: Other competition qualifiers may be listed in the same box.
3. SUBMISSION CUTOFF. The posting of the UICA Super Cup shall serve as the cutoff point for submissions into the Contest. Late entries that precede the Contest's Access List may be counted at the discretion of the Event Curator.
4. FINAL SITE BIDS.
   
   1. Any resident of the region of Esportiva may submit a final site bid for the Contest.
   2. REQUIREMENTS. A final site bid MUST include:
      
      1. The stadium name and its location (at least a city name, if not also a state, province or territory name or street address).
      2. The stadium capacity. Stadiums must seat at least 55,000 fans.
      3. A picture of the stadium. The picture should blur out any real-life stadium names or national flags, and should be scaled to have a height of approximately 300 to 400 pixels. Stadium pictures MAY be hidden behind spoilers.
   3. RECOMMENDATIONS. The Damukuni Football Association, as Event Curator, recommends, but does not require, a final site bid include a short description of the stadium and any famous football-related happenings there.
   4. DEFAULT SITE. The default site, if no bids are submitted, is Naruto Shinagawa Field, Atarashii-Damushuto International Stadium, Atarashii-Damushuto, United States of Damukuni.
5. QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS. Questions and comments about the Contest can be posted on the International Domestic Soccer Discussion thread, or telegrammed to Damukuni directly if you wish to keep your matter private.

Notes for Cup Winners' Cup Entry

• Each association may enter ONE club into the Cup Winners' Cup, with the exception of Eura which may enter one club in addition to Spartangrad.
• Should Spartangrad win their qualifying national association or league cup, the spot held over for a second Euran entrant will be vacated.
• Clubs can only qualify through ONE domestic cup competition.
• Each user may enter clubs from no more than two associations. Puppet nations must be declared upon entry.
• With the exception of Spartangrad, all entered teams must have won a national association or league cup; Super Cup winners and winners of play-offs cannot be entered.

Team Info Very few times has the Premier League been conquered by a team that had not been predicted to do so. In the past decade or so Sleepy Hollow has been a really good team, but the chances of them ever putting it all together and winning the league were a pipe dream. Sure Taeshan City came out of nowhere to win their title, but the seeds had been planted. And then a half decade of dominance showed the strength of that side. Sleepy Hollow kept in the race throughout the season and winning a title on Goal Differential over the giants in Laketown. The fact remains that this title race was a battle of the have nots and the team that should have had it all. In the end a little luck went the way of the smaller side, and now they have used this windfall to buy some interesting pieces that could make them a contender in perpetuity.

Three years of relative inability and a stunning return to the top was followed by a fall back to the lower parts of the top teams. While they can compete and get wins, they don’t have that X Factor, and it doesn’t appear to be walking through the door anytime soon.

They have managed to run basically every game the team is in, but they lack a real attacking flair. When the final product lacks you can’t score the goals all the time. For his part Abl Bakr is also a more defensive player, and while has scored here and there he doesn’t have the playmaking ability some of the more talented players in the league do. He wins the ball.

Season Preview:
Sparta Kuban:
Last Season Finish - 1st (Champions Playoff)
Summary - Overachieving in the Champions/Globe Cup qualification stage by winning 3 out of their 5 ties but underachieving in the CMFA Champions League by being knocked out in the semi finals by Iron Nest Shores FC, Sparta Kuban have shown to be an unpredictable side, and with different pundits predicting them to finish in varying places between 1st and 5th in Liga Baranil this season, they are bound for an exciting season for the neutral fan to feast their eyes upon.

UCA:
Last Season Finish - 2nd (Champions Playoff)
Summary - The image of their title winning side from 5 years ago is still fresh in the minds of many fans, but most of them also still have the image of relegation from four years prior to that after over two years of wait for Liga Baranil to return burnt into their minds. With the side reaching the final of the CMFA Champions League last season many fans are anticipating a successful year, but at the back of every fans mind is that they were playing Liga Nacionale football just 8 years ago, and with an average team having a one in four chance of getting relegated, and with their tiny fanbase not exactly providing the club a river of Gold (mainly due to Coedsburgh only having 689 inhabitants), one slip up could be all it takes to doom this side to possibly multiple relegations.

Dynamo Vodvok:
Last Season Finish - 3rd (Champions Playoff)
Summary - It has been 20 seasons (or 22 years if you prefer to put it that way) since Dynamo Vodvok fans have seen their team lift the Liga Baranil title, having seen their team being relegated down to the third tier since then before climbing their way back up to Liga Baranil two years ago, Dynamo Vodvok fans are dying to see their team lift Liga Baranil's trophy and add it to their aged trophy cabinet since they will not be able to lift the National Cup due to them competing in the CMFA Champions League and the Globe Cup in the offseason, adding a huge focus onto the league for their fans and anything short of the Championship will break the hearts of their fans who have been patiently waiting to lift the Liga Baranil trophy for the past 20 seasons, though it would be funny for everyone else if they were to get relegated and play their reserve team in Liga Nacionale next year.

Sparta Jocuka:
Last Season Finish - 4th (Champions Playoff)
Summary - Winning two out of the four Liga Baranil titles stretching either side of the four year long crisis in the early seventies, Sparta Jocuka are the club who have waited the longest to reclaim the Liga Baranil title, but at least their fans can say that they are actually in Liga Baranil, something that their rival Dynamo Jocuka can no longer say after the pastry of a season they had last time out.

Sparta Saint-Peter:
Last Season Finish - 1st (Pro-Rel Playoff)
Summary - Topping the Pro-Rel Playoff to gain promotion unlike Liga Nacionale Champions UKA last season, Sparta Saint-Peter's performance last year was simply outstanding for their fans to see, their fans have modest hopes of survival but 5/8 pundits we asked said that they expect Sparta Saint-Peter to finish fourth in Liga Baranil, which would make survival definite for the new boys.

USC:
Last Season Finish - 2nd (Pro-Rel Playoff)
Summary - Being the best team in Baranil without ever having won Liga Baranil and failing to qualify for the Globe Cup last time out, winning the title is out of the question for USC. However, with their Owner managing to scrape together enough funds for him to buy several good quality players, mostly from Ruben Oranburg though a few were from abroad, it is not unlikely that USC could qualify for the Globe Cup this season and give their fans some preseason football to watch from around the world.

Mordov Rogak:
Last Season Finish - 3rd (Pro-Rel Playoff)
Summary - Nobody has really high hopes for Mordov Rogak with the best thing that can be said about them is that they could go under the radar of every team and suprise us all by having a good season like CSKA Vodvok did in their title winning season, though not one of our pundits has said that they have a chance of winning the title.

Lokomotiv Kuban:
Last Season Finish - 4th (Pro-Rel Playoff)
Summary - The most successful club in Baranil's history winning 15/47 league titles and being the team making the most revenue out of all of the teams in Baranil, narrowly beating out their rivals of Sparta Kuban, it would be an insult to their massive fanbase if they failed to qualify for back-to-back Champions Playoffs after last season's performance but the good news for their fans is that they likely will qualify for the Globe Cup.

Ruben Oranburg:
Last Season Finish - 5th (Pro-Rel Playoff)
Summary - Beating out CSKA Vodvok by a goal on goal difference to automatically assure their Liga Baranil status for this year, Ruben Oranburg were already in a tough situation with this being made worse by how their previous owner left in the offseason, sneakily taking all of the club's savings with him, along with a loan of 2,500,000 Warajas whcih went straight to his bank account to the expense of the club. A new owner took charge only 10 days before the start of the next season and has said publicly that the club's coffers are dry and that he doesn't have the massive amount of money that he would have to have so that he could pump into the club to buy the players needed to help the challenge for the Champions Playoff, which was made even worse when he saw that the club owed 3,150,000 Warajas including interest to a Loan Shark. Somehow making their situation worse was how the transfer window was nearly shut leaving the club no time for scouting players, Ruben Oranburg were forced to quickly sell their best players who hadn't already retired and call up ten youth players to field an "alright squad with what we had to work with" and "a club capable of obtaining the occasional draw" just so they wouldn't go bankrupt after two games of the season. No one has any hopes for them whatsoever.

CSKA Vodvok:
Last Season Finish - 6th (Pro-Rel Playoff)
Summary - The return of the one-time champs via the Million Waraja Game has left their fans overjoyed with the aim of the first season being survival, which doesn't look too difficult for CSKA to accomplish with the quality of the team that they field, especially since Ruben Oranburg will occupy one of the three automatic Liga Nacionale spaces in the Pro-Rel Playoff.

*Sadaman were deducted 6 points due to thousands of fans invading the pitch and attempting to attack SKA Jocuka-1988 players with knives and other weapons before attacking several stewards with said weapons when they prevented the Sadaman fans from attacking the players, this happened immediately after they conceded the only goal of the game during their home 1-0 defeat to SKA Jocuka-1988, causing home fans to be banned from the remaining 38 minutes of the game which was played 70 minutes after the original stoppage. (Though the 811/976 away fans who returned to their seat after the stoppage were allowed to watch the rest of the match.) Even though the incident was resolved after 70 minutes, it wrecked havoc to the coaches that brought the fans home as two and a half coachloads of SKA Jocuka-1988 fans got onto their coaches during the 70 minute stoppage and were unwilling to wait what was at the time at least an hour for the rest of the fans to return.

38 Stewards died in the incident and a further 84 were hospitalised along with 4 SKA Jocuka-1988 fans, leading to 292 of Sadaman's fans to be either sentenced to death or shot dead on sight by the police and a further 1,129 of their massive fanbase to be either deported, imprisoned or imprisoned due to be deported upon their release.

[Oberour Ar Moro]

Teams and Rosters

Sezig le Marinier came with a proposition.

April 7, as a football club, had the largest stadium in Oberour Ar Moro. It also had the largest budget of any team. And it had dropped from the Premier Division all the way to B-Division in two single seasons.

While other teams in the Football System are owned by companies that produce alcohol or guns or cutting oils, April 7 was owned by the city of Regium, Oberour Ar Moro's capital. So tax dollars, water bills, property taxes, and parking tolls were helping pay for striker Expeditus Le Deist de Kerivalent and midfielder Ivo Foucault. And paying for a 8-13-15 record in the A-Division.

Regium's leadership wanted out. Out of the Football System and out of their spiraling, embarrassing losses. And Sezig le Marinier wanted in to the 60,006 seat Regium Stadium.

Sezig le Marinier was the flamboyant theater owner and impresario, the "King of Ruladen", who had snatched the very last club available in the Football System two years prior. He built up the smallest stadium in the system, and saw his club Spartan become champion of the C-Division, and then the B-Division immediately after. Spartan and their exciting, aggressive playing style were now one step away from the Premier Division. And his 19,970-seat Spartan Park (fondly, and accurately, known as "The Forlorn Hope") was clearly not the proper home for an A-Division team.

So when the word started filtering through the grapevine that Regium wanted to offload Regium Stadium, le Marinier was interested in making a deal. But once he sat down with April 7 management and Regium municipal leaders, he convinced the men across the table of him that there was an even greater opportunity.

The whole meeting took three-quarters of an hour, and by the end of it, Spartan and April 7 were no more. Officially they had merged, but in reality le Marinier had bought a whole other team lock, stock, and barrel, and created a whole new entity. In their place, was a new club: Regium United.

There are major changes coming to the Football System.

With the merger of April 7 and Spartan, there is an open place in the System for a football club. To fill this place, the Football Management Committee (FMC) accepted a bid for Esperance, which will share Orlant Stadium with Naucratis while they build their own stadium.

In addition, the FMC announced the Football System will be expanding for the 1754-1755 season. The Premier Division will grow from 7 to 10 teams, and both A-Division and B-Division will expand from 10 to 12 teams.

With this, the Football System will be growing by seven teams. Clubs from Ampuria, Appuli, Breiero, Caelina, Perseis, Salmudos, and Tylis will join C-Division.

These clubs will look to see how Esperance handles their first season. Esperance hired former Altair manager Brieuc d'Espinueil to lead them in their first season. And d'Espinueil has made bold signings, spending argenteus to bring Premier Division and A-Division players in for their inaugural season.

Additionally, the FMC announced they were seeking title sponsors for all four division of the Football System. The search for title sponsorship corresponds with the new division branding introduced for this season. A rumor said that the FMC was making multiversal inquiries for sponsors, but in response to questions by Vainqueur Magazine, the FMC said "we will not accept non-Oberour sponsors."

The Oberour Ar Moro Football System is not entirely Oberour anymore. Sixteen foreign players will be joining the Football System, and the debate has not stopped raging. Not just fans, bloggers, and ultras are discussing this, but the teams themselves.

The Ministry of Culture allowed Oberour teams to sign multiversal players for the first time, and Invicta was the first to take advantage. Jan Durjardin was quick to sign Schottian Craig Mallman and Eastfielder Austen Armours, and also later attempted to add Cody Graszeszak of Mercedini from Ceni's Longtails. Hibernus added Brenecian Bailey Watermill, Boney Bose Waldron, and Pridnestrovian Vladislav Yudin. Controversally, de la Charite signed Khantarian Striker Benjamin Eaglefoot, along with Boney Elliston Gilpin. On social media, Perresson Coffriere was criticized for signing a non-Oberour forward, even if Eaglefoot is starting as a reserve. Cyrene Bay signed Nepharim Garrett Spycer, and then paid 3 million for Meyson Salume, a Guayabal Right Back who played for Euran club Revolutionaries. In the remainder of the Premier Division, Aris, Occident, and Patrons did not go for a foreign transfer, though Patrons owners the Ministry of Culture were the ones to permit the openings.

A-Division teams also brought in multiversal players. Pridnestrovian Yaroslav Sivakov and Fleftic Damien Sijalbo joined Altair, Khantarian striker Lee Borncock will be a starter for Confessor, fellow Khantarian Sebastian von Rustberg joined Meridian, Audioslavian Gabriel Houellebecq went to Myrrh-Streamer, Polkopian Milomir Savelievich was signed by Naucratis, and Blaneuan Raymond Gatrell was signed to help Regium Immortal in their battle for promotion.

On Antenne Sports' Football Night, Football Management Committee (FMC) spokeswoman Lisig de Grant-Tens debuted the new branding for the Football System. Of note is the new Premier Division logo featuring an albatross. The albatross logo will appear on the right sleeve of all Premier Division teams.

Lisig de Grant-Tens also announced that the FMC is seeking title sponsors for all four division of the Football System. de Grant-Tens was explicitly clear that they were seeking only domestic sponsors. "We will not accept non-Oberour title sponsors. An Oberour league will have an Oberour sponsor."

Sides From the Cape Roar Into Action

Week One

The Bayside Ground played host to the start of the season with a Saturday crunch match between Bay Road and West Cape. Bay Road initially looked like they had plenty of good intent, Shanahan showed his quality, putting Jenkins and Evans through at various points in the first half, but Sketty and Jones were too effective for MacDaffyd and Pottinger to make a clear chance. Wanderer's seemed to pull themselves together just before the break, Bard and Flahavan seemed to co-ordinate well, and in the 44th minute Bard put Christiansson through clear on goal to take a one-nil lead. After the break Wanderers moved up through the gears, having over 60% of the possession, but it took until the 82nd minute to convert this into a goal, as a swung in free-kick from Cuf met the head of Davis to secure the result.

Elsewhere and the rest of Saturday produced two very exciting matches. Bedha English's new strengthened squad faced off against Riverside, and whilst they got their result, they didn't half make hard work out of it. A two goal lead going into the last twenty minutes seemed fairly safe, but Riverside pulled one back as Hartson held up the ball for Lagadec, who then fired home from distance. Riverside pressed hard for the next 20 minutes, and Hartson almost leveled affairs from a scrap in the box, but having pressed so far forward English got back in behind and Cautcher received the ball in space and proceeded to secure the win. Later on and English's rivals faced off against Pwhelli. Pwhelli's teenager Cadwgawn Blaney demonstrated his quality netting a brace to help his team to a narrow win.

Sunday, by comparison, saw three tight, mucky fixtures as the rain came driving down all across the island. Defi opened up their season with their new side against Portside, two teams tipped to have a truly awful season. Both sides struggled as the pitch at the Cauldron was reduced to churned mud, the ball skipped and splatted all over the pitch and neither side had much fluency. Eventually Defi managed to edge it, free agent acquisition Konstantin showed some initiative, taking a quick free-kick to put Eira Own through on goal, she then proceeded to make history by becoming the first woman to ever net in the Blaneuan Top Division. East Cape, meanwhile, faced off against the much weakened Old Regisonians. The pitch at the Community Ground held up, but it hardly needed to as East Cape's brand of take-no-prisoners route one, slightly dirty, football doesn't exactly require a smooth pitch to play on. East Cape eventually took the win as Rhodri Apnest netted from a free-kick. Finally the firefighters of the Island Blaze looked to shake off their fatigue from the Globe Cup as they went face to face with Mawford United. Whilst they didn't look too sluggish, Mawford looked the better side with free agent Toni Bliss aiding them to dictate the pace of play as they came away from Wendell Lane with all three points.

Whoever set up East Cape against Portside as the opening Saturday fixture is either an idiot or evil. After the boggy pitch of the week before, the pitch instead looked dry and cratered. East Cape prevented this becoming much of an issue by keeping the ball a long way in the air for most of the match, their play was particularly rough as 7 players picked up a yellow and Jowan Foote was sent off for a studs up challenge on Andy Bricks; eventually Pomeroy bagged the winner, heading the ball home in the 72nd minute.

Meanwhile, the other three Saturday fixtures provided a greater degree of excitement. Pwhelli, after last weeks heroics against Rangers seemed to be out of steam, Defi saw Owens net again, as well as Tim Simpson putting one away to secure back to back wins. Old Regisonians, meanwhile, seemed unfazed by the lack of a home atmosphere, with only 255 in attendance at the Regis Stadium both they and the Island Blaze toiled away quietly, coming away with a point a piece. Finally, the tea time fixture was a tasty encounter between West Cape and Mawford. Mawford looked like they might provoke a shock at the Isthmus Arena, as Driscoll and Lowe both netted in the first 10 minutes. West Cape looked shell shocked, but eventually came back into the game as Christiansson buried a penalty, eventually Yirix-Ucyxi Cuf pulled back a vital point, taking a free-kick from West Cape's half he looped Bard onto the ball, who then smashed it into the net with ease.

Sunday saw some big games, as Bay Road and Bedha English faced off early, and Riverside squared up against Bedha Rangers in Longborth. Bay Road - English was an attacking feast, with both sides pressing hard and leaving far too much space at the back. MacDaffyd re-kindled some of his form from last year, bagging a hat-trick to bring an end to a prolonged dry spell, whilst Cautcher also netted three, with further goals from Jenkins and Smith these two fought it to a draw. Riverside, meanwhile, undid their first day disappointment as Lagadec, Hartson and Tew all netting as Rangers were dispatched in front a raucous Longborth crowd.

Mawford United 1–1 Old Regisonians

Mawford United were the first of the big clubs into action this week, and they were in for a disappointment. Whilst Lloyd Jackson poked them into the league early on they were wasteful over most of the match, David Barclay, veteran attacking midfielder, made them pay for this as he buried a shot from just outside the box after a corner was spilled out. Saturday afternoon then was a bit of a wash, Island blaze and Portside played out to a tense, terse draw under grey skies in Merion, meanwhile East Cape took on their stadium sharing rivals Pwhelli, where a late goal bundled in by Caradog Gwent proved the difference between the two.

Sunday saw three far tastier fixtures. Defi hosted Riverside at the Cauldron, a fixture that thoroughly derailed them the previous year. Defi's run of two wins came to an end as Riverside took their second on the bounce, and in a turn up for Riverside neither goal came from John Hartson, showing the clear progress they've made since last year. Dovey Lane then played host to the two biggest fixtures of the week, with Rangers playing the early game and English taking the later game. Rangers faced Bay Road, and provided a bit of a shock as Harry Norbitt netted two goals either side of half-time. Bay Road got one back from Bryn Jenkins, but they failed to come back and go bottom of the table as the transition in tactics clearly continue to take its toll.

In the evening Bedha English came in for a big clash with West Cape Wanderers, and whilst it is too early in the season to be a title decider it was clearly a game that could set the trajectory for the season. West Cape started brightly, with Cuf and Ludlow providing a lot of initiative down the wings, and Flahavan, Bard and Davis swarming English's defense. The industry paid off as a great team maneuver led to Flahavan slotting the ball home, and a second came just before the break as Sketty netted from a corner. Gofdha looked a bit shaken before half-time, but he brought in some changes, Miles Rees looked knackered and was subbed off for teenager Mevenig Ollo and Full-Backs Laursen and Williams were instructed to drop back slightly. This seemed to limit Wanderers down the wings and English came back strong after the break, moving more through the middle and Strand and Cautcher proved their worth, combining for a goal and assist each tying affairs up going into the last 15 minutes. West Cape made their own change, bringing water carrier MacDai off for Riley, more of a central midfielder. At this point they pressed further forward, and eventually it paid off, Christiansson had the ball looped over him into the box and he managed to get his foot on him to put the ball in the net.

With three games gone the two sides from the cape are coming off the best so far. West Cape look even stronger than last season, having faced off against three of their top rivals for the title (Mawford, English and Bay Road) they've come off with 7 points out of 9, and have outplayed each side they've played so far. East Cape have won three on the bounce, but each one has come against fairly weak opponents, time will tell whether their smash and grab approach works against the bigger sides. Otherwise the biggest story is just how poorly Bay Road season has started, the defeat to West Cape was perhaps expected, and the draw with English was a fine result, but the defeat to Rangers was clearly a shock. Clearly the adjustment to a more attacking style of play has had its problems, they've conceded more or as many goals as any other side in the league and the loss of James Jones has made them leaky.

A further important point to note is just how much of an impact foreign players have had thus far, and not just the big signings made by West Cape and English. East Cape's free agency acquisitions have looked good thus far, with them having conceded no goals and Defi's purchase of Detlef Konstantin looks inspired as they've done well so far despite the squad reboot.

Week 4 and 5 Preview

Week 4 presents one vast fixture in the shape of Bedha English against Bedha Rangers. Dovey Lane will sees Gofdha's side looking to come back from losing a massive six-pointer against West Cape Wanderers, whilst Rangers look to build on a solid win against Bay Road. English were undone in their last fixture by the free-passing football of West Cape, with their midfield block completely by-passed. Rangers may prove a similar challenge, although the quality of their passing is no doubt of a lower quality. Ultimately English's chances are down to both the ability of Marc Strand to win the battle in the middle, and also their ability to exploit Ranger's lack of width, with Edwards and Delaney the full-backs being the only wide players. This may leave Rangers in a bind, if their full-backs push on there is space on the wings to exploit, and if they stay back they can do little to prevent English moving the ball through them using Strand and the wingers.

Elsewhere and the struggling, but talented, Bay Road side face the thriving but untalented Defi Rovers. Bay Road sit bottom of the table after deflating defeats to Bedha Rangers and West Cape Wanderers, whilst Defi have two wins so far. Bay Road have struggled, as whilst they have plenty of attacking intent Shanahan has been left somewhat stranded in the middle of the field, whilst MacDaffyd and Pottinger have looked flat up-front. Defi, meanwhile, seem to have their tactics nailed down already, pivoting around Konstantin as a deep-lying playmaker and Eira Owens' explosive pace up the front. Bay Road's ability to get a result will hinge on whether Jenkins and Evans cutting in provides more ballast to their midfield when on the back-foot, or leaves them exposed on the wings.

Week 5 and East Cape against Bay Road looks to be the biggest philosophical clash in Blaneuan footballing history. Whilst Erin Gowan has put the focus on free-flowing, fast-moving combinations going forward, John Bolter's philosophy seems to hinge on physically imposing his side, sometimes violently, on the game. East Cape will be seeking to exploit the vast gaps in Bay Road's formation between their back-line and Shanahan and Shanahan and their front-line. Deep-lying playmaker Gwent will be key to this plan. Whilst the back-four sit as a block ahead of him, one of the wingers and Foote and May sit ahead and he seeks to pick up loose balls and launch rapid counter-attacks with pin-point long passing out to one of the wingers, or Ron Lemon. Bay Road, meanwhile, will seek to use their front-load formation to dominate possession deep into the opposition third, the success of which depends on both their patience in working through the defensive block, and their ability to withstand crunching tackles.

The Galacticos label exists to honour the best players in world sport, though it uses club football (specifically, UICA season 71) as its primary indicator of success, skill and proven results. As is traditional, a long-list (of 75) will be announced before the primary ceremony later on dictates the Galacticos Shortlist, the actual Galacticos, and rates 3 through 1 the finest Managers, Young (U21) Players and, finally, Players themselves, of the Season. In the time-honoured tradition of the ceremony, most around the world will ignore the list, and its results will be argued relentlessly. The judicial committee expects myriad threats to its collective well-being, perhaps on the NSSport Discord. And we would have it no other way.

GALACTICOS MANAGER OF THE SEASON
3. Arturo Mancini - RKQ - Cassandra City (COS)
Utterly dominated the HL, winning 24 out of 34 matches with a side that was, while strong, not considered to be favourites before the league's outset. Helped players such as Zeale-Riddick to career breakthroughs.

2. Andreu Bartolnicci - COS - Newrook City (NPH)
An... intense figure, who dragged small-market Newrook City kicking and screaming into the upper echelons of the Nepharim league. And he did it with obscure, carefully-targeted signings, who he consistently brought the best from. Could they be the new Starling, hauled there by Bartolnicci's force of will alone?

1. Rohan Cammers - APX - Shamrock Cathair (AUD)
Boldsport hates making this call as much as anyone, but it has to be admitted - can any manager in the multiverse equal the feat of turning Shamrock Cathair, traditionally the smallest and weakest of Cathair's clubs, into becoming the champions of the nation? This despite a relatively small budget, a long history of failure and the mentality instilled at the club to match. It appears that Cammers has found a productive use, at last, for his unique talent for breaking things.

YOUNG PLAYER OF THE SEASON
3. Alexander Jager - PAS - Revolutionaries (EUR)
Award-winning Jager stormed into contention from the off, signed from Dwile Warriors and making an immediate impact on the Goldleague. A workaholic on the training ground, Jager had to bide his time and win a starting place through exceptional impact off the bench. He ended up usurping the seasoned Andy Navarro to become Revolutionaries' second-top goalscorer, with 16.

2. Storm Holsen - AUD - AC Izotz Zubia (AUD)
While Holsen was unable to drag Zozi to the title, it means a lot to be pressed into a key midfield role at just 20 years of age. That says a lot not only about his physicality and work ethic, but his intelligence, too. Holsen was born to snuff out attacks before they could start, showing all that traditional Audioslavian spirit in spades.

1. Moira Woakes - EUR - Carsby (EUR)
The first Euran female goalscorer in the league pyramid, with a debut goal for Carsby in the Silverleague, and now in the DBC, Woakes is surely on course to become the first female Euran international. Goldleague was always going to be the biggest test, and she undeniably stepped up to the mark to help Carsby out of the relegation battle with 13 goals and 13 assists. She's only going to get better, with a good head on her shoulders.

PLAYER OF THE SEASON
3. Robert Griffin - EUR - Sabrefell Moths (NPH)
Top goalkeepers are in an odd position. Normally, goalkeepers at strong sides don't get too many chances to make flashy saves, and indeed Griffin isn't really a flashy goalkeeper. What he does is enable his clubs to play high-pressing, assertive football, confident Griffin's there to sweep behind their lines and clear out any danger before it arises. Oh, yeah, and he can most definitely make the saves when he has to; and he's no pushover aerially, and his distribution is without compare. Without a doubt, one of the best in history.

2. Rowena Strongbow - NPH - Directus (EUR)
First a Euran in Nephara, now a Nepharim in Eura; not just any, though. Strongbow is the first female player in the Goldleague, Directus breaking with decades of tradition to flex on their rivals, Bastion. But she never likes to dwell on things like 'records' - she's all about what she is on the pitch. Which is; terrifyingly fast, unpredictable, deceptively strong and with one of the sweetest left boots in the game. She's already an icon for club and country, with a friendly, approachable manner.

1. Romikk Valgard - COS - Ulsa (EUR)
It has to be, doesn't it? Even in a vacuum, Valgard's season is right up there with the greats, smashing home 30 goals in a 38-game season for his club and with an enviable strike-rate for his country, as well. But it's not in a vacuum. It's in the context of it being a comeback year after a brutal challenge from Callodown bruiser Tom Miah brought him low for what was projected to be a full year, though he came back earlier than expected. God forbid, some people have even suggested the affair taught him humility. He's well and truly back now, though, and surely nobody could argue that he's the world's most lethal marksman.

Brivel de Ker Massonnet has faith in his players, and if their troubles were just a one-season swoon, his experienced players will reward in him spades. If not, a key part of the typical Oberour footballing machine will be jammed for a second straight year.

Two seasons, two championships. It's hard to argue with Cyrene Bay's success. But two successful seasons has Kouig Belhumeur thinking about bigger things. Cyrene Bay added Meyson Salume to bring some resiliancy to his defense, promoted Thommas du Contant de la Mollette to he starting 11, and brought in Meyson Salume from Eura's Revolutionaries to refresh the midfield. Cyrene Bay in the past two seasons started slow but finished strong to pull away from their competitors. Dreadnought fans would probably prefer if they could storm out to lead the table from the word go. A third-straight championship and an extended UICA run would keep them satisfied. But if Cyrene Bay take their eyes of the ball, they could fall down the standings.

Cyrene Bay may have the championships, but de la Charite has the best manager. Everyone agrees that Perresson Coffriere gives the best combination of leadership and creativity in the Premier Division. An example of this would be with the change in the sweeper position for this season. Chaumeeur sent Suliac la Torquetrue to become the highest-paid player in the C-Division for expansion side Esperance. In his place he brought in Invicta's back-up sweeper Annaeg Chaumeeur to start. Coffriere has big plans for Chaumeeur, hoping to use his clever placement and ability to get open to add to the already potent de la Charite attack. De la Charite are hoping that small change will help them close the gap with Cyrene Bay. Other teams have made major changes though, and if those changes pay off, the Hornets' goals could go unfulfilled again.

In their first season in the Premier Division, Hibernus finished only one point away from being sent back down to A-Division. The tight lipped Hibernus management haven't betrayed any doubts in Iahan Alphand's leadership, but one cannot imagine the ownership being satisfied with barely surviving. Seemingly in response, manager Alphand spent big to make-over his roster. From domestic football, Hibernus added Midfielder Awen de Coetmer from Confessor and Striker Kemo Levienaise from Meridian. Hibernus also took advantage of the opening of transfers, to add three multiversal players. Acrobatic Pridnestrovian goalkeeper Vladislav Yudin will be between the sticks in 1754, and midfielders Brenecian Bailey Watermill, and Boney Bose Waldron will be splitting time on the right. Alphand will need his new look team to gel and propel Hibernus to the top half of the division.

When the Ministry of Culture announced that Football System teams could sign multiversal players, Invicta was quick to take advantage. But what may be more interesting is who they didn't sign. Manager Jan Durjardin let striker Klaoda Maxse walk and attempted to bring in Mercedinian Cody Graszeszak. Graszeszak ended up going to KF Qastyr, and Durjardin promoted Taran Bele to starting striker. If Taran Bele is the goal scoring solution Durjardin has been seeking, he might pair with new signing Austen Armours to lift Invicta.

Occident has flown fast and far to climb from B-Division to the Premier Division in two seasons. They've made it through swarming defense and a team that is always on the same page. But can a team that looked so strong in B-Division then A-Division succeed in the Premier Division? Kireg de Charromme is betting on it. Beyond adding winger Maudan Fienseur from Patrons, the starting eleven is 1573's Occident starting eleven. If this roster isn't suited for Premier League football, this will be a long year in Genulca.

Patrons did not make many changes to their starting 11, but the change they did make was a big one. Patrons paid a domestic transfer record to bring in Eneour Pique-Pain to upgrade their offense. Pique-Pain was a revelation on the Oberour Ar Moro National Team, and he'll be joining fellow Dragoons Donatien Calenge, Pierres Branon and Josselyn Pessiere. When one plays Patrons, one knows what they'll be getting. No team plays a more straight-forward style, and no team does that better. But will the Ministry of Culture be satisfied with just another UICA attempt? Would they be satisfied sitting on the multiversal sidelines? It's hard to tell.


A-Division
Big Fixtures: Regium United v Myrrh-Streamer, Regium Immortal v Meridian, Confessor v Altair
Talking Points: With the upcoming expansion, the top four team in the A-Divison will be promoted to the Premier Division for 1754-1755. And if look around the sports media, it's hard to find a consensus on who those four teams will be. One team on the fringe of most prognostications is Regium Immortal. Kadvael Heault turned down the national team managerial job to lead Immortal to the Premier Division. Can his team of newly-signed older players use their mental fortitude to keep them in the top half and into promotion?

B-Division
Big Fixtures: Anceaume v Saint Charles, Saint Louis v Sesamos, Politoria Lions v Corinthian
Talking Points: Don't get too comfortable with the make-up of this Division. This time next season, only a single team from this season will remain, and will be surrounded by 11 new teams in the division. With seven teams seeking to be promoted, the real competition will to stay out of the bottom two spots and free-fall into C-Division. Though if you're excited to see a preview of next season's A-Division, watch this space.

C-Division
Big Fixtures: Dynamo v Victory Bringer, Atlas Massalia v Massalia City, Genulca v Saida Holly
Talking Points: As stadiums appear across the landscape from Tylis to Ampuria, first we have to look at the single-season tenant at Orlant Stadium. Esperance is spending big and striving to not just survive their first season, but succeed. Considering that the top nine in C-Division are being promoted, Esperance is looking to create a team that could compete in B-Division. Is Esperance making the mould for how an expansion team should be formed, or are they wasting their time trying to bite off more than they can chew?

The first fixture this weekend was a softball for West Cape, facing off against Old Regisonians. The lack of an away support made this game feel more like a rally, and the front four of Flahavan, Davis, Bard and Christiansson ran circles around a weak back-four, a consolation goal from Barclay in the dying embers of added time was the only consolation for Old Regisonians. Elsewhere and East Cape went four wins for four playing under John Bolter. Bolter's side are thought to be set up well to spring surprises against bigger sides, locking them out through sturdy defense and surprisingly effective with the long-ball. However, they proved they can poke their way through smaller teams as well, with Caradog Gwent and Rhodri Apnest they have both pace and intelligence in the midfield, so their hoofball strategy is executed with a far greater degree of intelligence and precision. Elsewhere and Bay Road finally posted some points on the board up against Defi Rovers. Eira Owens continued her excellent run with a goal poached in the box, but the tireless work of Shanahan for Bay Road allowed them to pull back for a victory through goals from Jenkins, and a penalty for MacDaffyd.

One of the great joys of the Blaneuan league is that the uncluttered schedule allows teams to play at full-pelt every week. If it was one of 38 fixtures, then West Cape might have shut up shop at 2-0 ahead, instead they buzzed tirelessly around Ranger's defense, as Bard completed a hat-trick. Meanwhile, East Cape faced a major test of their strategy of using physical intimidation against the big sides. Up against Bay Road it failed to pay off, with fouls against Shanahan and Jenkins on the way forward conceded free-kicks, allowing Pottinger to tap in a header for the winner. Elsewhere and Mawford played out an eye-catching fixture against Pwhelli. With red cards for both Mawford's Battselaw and Pwhelli's Edwards in the first half things opened up. Pwhelli looked like stealing a march as young talent Cadwgawn Blaney scored an absolute worldie on 55 minutes, Mawford pulled back as Toni Bliss combined well with the front three to pull it back 4-2, with Pwhelli's lack of cover on the wings exposed.

Week 6

The week opened up with a corker of a match, as Mawford and Riversides, two clubs thus far keeping pace with the bigger teams, faced off in Longborth. Riverside have managed a smooth transition from Sunday league to the big leagues, and here their home grown squad looked impervious. Mawford are another side slowly but surely acquiring talent and this fixture showed the quality of both sides. Mawford play a 3-5-2 formation, up against Riverside's 5-4-1, a lot was resting on Toni Bliss' ability to dominate the midfield for Mawford, but hard-work from Tew and Lagadec allowed Riverside to battle in the centre, whilst using their four wide players to dominate down the wings, a late tap-in from John Hartson secured them a well-deserved 3 points.

Elsewhere and West Cape faced the prospect of losing their unbeaten record in unlikely circumstances. Portside traveled to the Isthmus Arena in dead last, having not yet scored this season. They took what could be described as a budget East Cape approach, playing physically, and keeping the ball up in the air as much as possible to make use of their height advantage. On the defense Portside played what could be described as a 5-5-0, with the two strikers falling back to the midfield block, and a central midfielder dropping between the centre-backs. To the surprise of many, they also pursued aggressively on the attack, usually through sticking the ball into West Cape's final third and then using an aggressive press. A scrappy header from Andy Bricks had Portside in the lead, it took until the 92nd minute for a free-kick from Yivix-Ucyxi Cuf to spare West Cape some blushes.

Elsewhere and Bedha English's fast-direct football met East Cape's aggressive longball. Both sides looked incredibly sturdy in defense, but English managed to secure a vital win over East Cape as Claudia Cautcher once again demonstrated her quality as compared to the rest of Blaneu. Marc Strand looped a ball, which she controlled over her shoulder before curling the ball neatly past a nervous looking Treeve Kestle. English, thus far this season, have not looked too strong, but back to back one-nil wins have come after shifting to a flat back-four, which whilst it means they look less attractive going forwards, they have managed to look like they won't concede. If Cautcher remains fit, they could well be putting on a not-very-attractive run at the title.

Week 7

Portside FC 2–3 Pwhelli FC

Mawford United vs. Bay Road was the Friday night fixture, and given both teams attacking intent and promising squads many were hoping it would prove an entertaining contest. Instead, both managers seemed keen to keep things tight at the back, with Mawford keeping their midfield flat as a bloc, and Bay Road keeping their midfield sat deep. Eventually Mawford ran out as Bliss in the middle and Driscoll on the wing were given more license to make things happen, Shanahan was similarly given more scope to roam, but this seemed to leave Bay Road exposed at the back. The winner came through Evans grafting in the penalty box, with the help of a meaty deflection off of Young.

Whilst Friday was somewhat of a damp squib, Saturday was anything but. West Cape traveled to the Cauldron against the promising, yet unpolished, Defi Rovers. Defi came into this fixture somewhat off the pace, having suffered four narrow defeats on the bounce. Manager Gail Stephenson had managed to inject some confidence into the side before the fixture as they matched West Cape step for step in the first 60 minutes. Their flat back four managed to disrupt West Cape's fearsome frontline, whilst the industry of Konstantin, the pace of Owens and the graft of Walters and Price offered hope going forwards. 2-1 down at half-time they decided to press harder, but space was left at the back and Bard exploited this to widen the lead. An impressive fightback was mounted and a free-kick from Walters met the head of Simpson to narrow the gap. Eventually, chasing the game left West Cape with space behind the backline, and Christiansson took full advantage, netting on the break with ten minutes left, and again sticking one in from close range in the 90th minute as Defi looked deflated.

Just 7 games in and already some seem worried that West Cape might run away with it. Already two points clear, the only side left unbeaten and with by far the best goal difference, they look about as impervious as they do last year. However, the draw with Portside proves there is a way to get at them, even if it isn't particularly pleasing to the eye. Elsewhere and East Cape and Bedha English are keeping pace, however English still look by far the better prospect, having had a much tougher fixture list thus far, and the league's best goal-scorer in the form of Claudia Cautcher. Riverside SC and Mawford, meanwhile, look like they might meaningfully be competing for UICA spots, Riverside have particularly impressed, with their central midfield pairing of Tew and Lagadec looking very sturdy. Mawford, meanwhile, have a setup that teams find difficult to deal with, and have had a lot of joy finding space in other sides back lines. Down the table and Bay Road have the players to succeed, but seem to have a hole in their midfield. Whilst Shanahan is, no doubt, on the best central midfielders in the league, Dashiell can't dominate the midfield alone and often looks stranded. It is rumoured that gaffer Erin Gowan is looking to replace one of MacDaffyd or Pottinger with an attacking midfielder to balance their formation more. Both MacDaffyd and Pottinger are reasonable goal scorers, but they seem to struggle to drop back and retrieve the ball, neither seems particularly adept at creating space either, or at laying the ball off to other strikers. Rhodri Apnest has potentially been linked with a move to the Bayside, and he does look out of place at East Cape.

The more mundane news is that Bronwyn Sadler, once of AFC Serpentine in Nephara, has become the new manager of Rovers United. According to that team's disorganized semblance of a boardroom, Sadler's commitment to conditioning felt like a natural fit for a team that prides itself on its readiness to play in many climates, even the high-altitude Rackham Range. She, in turn, is believed to be appreciative of the Rovers' attacking-oriented lineup. The league's less-than-modern approaches to formations may, however, be more of a culture shock. Midfielder Corianne Rogawski downplayed this concern, saying "if this was a league where everyone knew everyone else's starting lineups and how many of them were nominally fowards, that would be one thing, but this isn't the [Nepharim] Premiership and I know Sadler realizes that. She'll do what she thinks is best, if that includes fine-tuning some of our setups, I look forward to it."

More surprising, to most spectators, was the news from Namiri Independent. The Sharag side have at times dallied with the idea of being everyone's second team, or at least the darling of youngsters who aren't enthused by Forest's all-out defense and/or environmentalism. Their latest defensive tactic/publicity stunt is the signing of Suhail Gallop-Brother, center defender and zebra.

The discovery of a community of sentient zebras in the Namiri region was national news two years ago; since then, many have chosen isolationism, but others have worked with the government to find an equivalent minimum age for voting and participating in civic life (the same hurdles apply as with AI citizenship, one supposes). Though the zebras enjoy footracing (hoofracing?) among their own people, they had yet to participate in human-centric team sports, thanks in part to having, well, two left feet.

Gallop-Brother, however, seems to genuinely care about football. "The skills I display here--running tirelessly, working with my teammates to keep our goal safe, planning ahead for a long year--are all things our species can take pride in," he said through an interpreter. "I think I'm like any other adult who gets to make a living playing a child's game; it's a little silly but mostly I am very honored." He then assured his new teammates that he would refrain from eating the grass on the pitch during games.

[For the benefit of foreign readers: most of the zebras who've integrated into human society go by a very rough translation of their personal name from their matrilineal language, and many also take a human name, usually Namirite. Gallop-Brother plans to display a "frozen" glyph of his signed name on his uniform, which has yet to be designed in full.]

This left most of the league scratching their heads, some of the league quietly admitting that their clubs have no grounds to complain about absurdity (or, in some cases, no grounds, period), and Trebuchet Cham, boisterously attack-minded and mediocre as ever, sporting a case of jealousy. A few days later, they announced the signing of midfielder Lolicia from the Freeport national team. Lolicia is also a sentient zebra, who appears to be slightly more anthropomorphic than her cousins here; she has scored two goals for her country as a reserve.

Whether she can rejuvenate Cham, or even fill the stadium, remains to be seen, but it's certainly been an off-season to talk about.

DREAMPLANET SUPERCUP - SUPERTAÇA DREAMPLANET SEASON 5 (2004-2005)

Coerefente and FC Libon were very evenly matched at the recently opened Apex Arena, despite the 0-0, there were many opportunities for each team to take the trophy home, most notably being Coerefente's youth star, Miguel Benedito missing an open goal as he twisted his foot and needed to be substituted, heading into extra time there wasn't much football to see, a contrast from the intense 90 minutes, and both teams telepathically agreed on a penalty shootout.

FC Libon took advantage of a missed Coerefente penalty to take the lead, however Coerefente were able to put that aside with 2 saves from novice goalkeeper Toni Geraldes, Coerefente eventually won the Supercup after Jorge Cardozo blasted his penalty over the bar, this would give Coerefente the morale advantage coming into the season, the match was criticised on all fronts for being "anti-football", specially the extra time period in which there were only 3 goalscoring chances.

DREAMPLANET LEAGUE - LIGA DREAMPLANET SEASON 5 (2004-2005) - CONCLUSION

Coerefente showed the nation that they were here to stay as Real Island CD showed an immense recovery to finish second, they were Coerefente's biggest opponents all season long and the title was only won by Coerefente when they defeated Real Island at home with a matchday to go.

This was the first time that Sporting CD did not finish in the top 3, however they won't mind as their win in the Taça Dreamplanet against Real Island CD gave them a much cherished Cygnus Cup Winners' Cup spot, although the fans will be disappointed at their fall from second place.

Coming into the final, Sporting CD already knew they were in the Cygnus' Cup Winners Cup as Real Island CD was already confirmed for the CEdC place, however no team was about to take this final sitting down as there was 8 goals to be had in the final. Real Island CD opened the scoring from a free kick scored by the disgraced former Dreamplanetian captain, João Souza. Real Island CD doubled their lead following a great passing play from João Souza to Paulo Oliveira put the tie firmly in Real Island CD’s hands. Just when Real Island thought they were destined for the title, Luis Silva scored a brace before half time to save Sporting CD from fighting an uphill battle.

The second half would see a very close fight between the two teams but João Souza got his brace after winning a penalty, Real Island CD fans were already celebrating their win but got silenced by a stunning volley from Paulo Figueiredo to make it 3-all. Real Island kept pushing forwards to kill the game but that move would backfire as Luis Silva completed his hattrick by running past the few remaining Real Island defenders and chipping it over the goalkeeper, probably the best goal he has scored yet. To add insult to injury, the Real Island defender, Costinha Matos, headed the ball into his own net following a corner, Sporting CD had won their 6th Taça Dreamplanet following a hard fought game.

The newly-opened Apex Arena, the home stadium of the Dreamplanetian National Team

Built near the coast of Libon, the Apex Arena is the new home stadium of the Dreamplanetian Football Association as of 2004, hosting the Dreamplanetian Supercup and Cup finals. Originally the stadium was thought of a new stadium for Sporting CD, however Sporting refused the move and the Dreamplanetian FA made it the new national stadium as Dreamplanet didn't have a national stadium before, it is a multi-purpose stadium and will be used more in the future according to plans.

As a newly built stadium for use in international competition, the Apex Arena is cutting edge, it was the best option to take Dreamplanet forward into a new age footballing wise, it is also the biggest stadium in Dreamplanet and the only stadium that fit the 55k seater minimum of the CEdC Final bids. It has enough seating for 75,000 people and 45 VIP boxes and lounges where those who can afford it have great luxury while watching the game. Places like bathrooms and food bars are conveniently placed near entrances, allowing fans to be as close to everything they need. The stadium is also only 12 minutes walk from the nearest beach, giving a nice view of the sea from the stadium, the stadium is also easy to get to, the Apex metro stop is the most common way for fans to get to the stadium, although the bus also stops nearby the stadium, it has quickly become a tradition for fans to spend the whole afternoon in the city ahead of the match, relaxing on the beach, eating at a restaurant or just chanting at the other team's fans, the Apex Arena has become a vital part of the Dreamplanetian footballing world.

With the stadium being brand new, it has become the pride of Dreamplanet, the stadium is built to give the fans the best experience during the match, at last the capital has a stadium they can call their own.
