World Twenty20 Championships XI - OOC discussion thread

Postby NS Global Cricket Federation » Mon Sep 10, 2018 12:59 pm

Welcome to signups for the eleventh NS Global Cricket Federation World T20 Championship, the multiverse's premiere international competition for the short-format game.

Signups and host bids should be posted in this thread, simply by saying "We sign up" or similar. Please note: puppets will only be entered at the discretion of the eventual host. There is a maximum of one puppet per user, and you must have previously entered a GCF event (either a World T20 or a Test season) to enter a puppet. You may only bid to host if you have previously entered the World T20 Championship.

The deadline for host bids is Monday, 24th September at midday UTC+1, after which there will be a week-long host vote. Only GCF members currently ranked in the Test ranks (full/associate members) who are signed up, or users who have signed up to both the 9th and 10th World T20s, at the deadline for host bids may vote in the election.

The Plough Islands Cricket Association is in! (begrudgingly, while looking up exactly what the finer rules of T20 are and tutting quietly about how silly and commercial this all is)

So the rankings need an update...

That said, I'd like to sign up for the World Twenty20 Championships XI.

Of course, I'd like to request that, in this sport, all Banijan records, ranks, etc... Be inherited by the Busoga Islands.

The traditional standard, of course, is IC succession in all sports and ICly in general. The Busoga Islands do not meet that standard generally(and that is not being requested generally), however, they do in fact meet that standard for cricket.

A. If you look at my host bid for the World Twenty20 Championships X, I clearly state that cricket is a sport basically dominated by the Busoga Islands for Banija. The cricket authorities were also mentioned to be dominated by Busogans, so it makes sense for the sport in Banija to pretty much falter with the independence of the Busoga Islands.

I also, in the actual tournament, hosted all the games on the Busoga Islands.

EDIT: IC article showing the Islander independence from Banija. There are many more RPs with that there that I have littered across the forums- just ask and I'll grab some of those as well.

So, specifically, I ask that the rank of Banija(whenever it is updated) be transferred to the Busoga Islands, and that the Busoga Islands be officially recorded, for posterity, as the host of the World Twenty20 Championships X.

Time for a swipe.

As the Busoga Islands mentioned, it was actually Banija and not myself that hosted World T20 X. Hopefully that can be edited as soon as possible.

Apox has indeed got that wrong, and there are already updated ranks available. I will make the appropriate edits.

As for the Busoga Islands inheriting Banija's rank, I will have to discuss that with Apox.

And, of course, Liventia signs up.

Not yet, because it hasn't started yet. If you want to roleplay in a tournament in NS sports, you'll need to sign up for it first. That's what this thread is for. A roleplay thread will be put up once the host has been chosen and the tournament is ready to begin.

A wild bid appeared!

World Twenty20 Championships XI @ Ko-oren

This bid consists of three parts:
- Format
- OOC
- IC

Format:
The tournament will consist of three parts: the qualification stage (featuring every team), then a group stage of 12 teams, and lastly a knock-out stage consisting of two semifinals and a final.

Qualification Stage:
3, 4 or 6 groups, of which the top 4, 3 or 2 advance to the Group Stage.

The IRL tournament has 10 teams in the group stage, so why put 12 teams in the Group Stage? Twelve is such a versatile number, I don't have to rely on puppets or last-minute signups as much. This means the bid works with a qualification field of 24, 27, 28, 30, 32, 33, etc. With signups, I will try to put as many teams in the qualification stage as are willing to play. Should, after signups have closed, a team be cut from the tournament to make the format work, puppets will first be removed following the last in, first out principle.

My aim is to have between 5 and 8 qualification rounds (ideally 6-7).

Tiebreakers will be the same for the qualification stage as well as the group stage:
- Wins
- Head to head
- Net Run Rate
- Coin flip

IC, all matches will take place in Ko-oren.

Group Stage:
The best 12 teams will remain. 2 groups of 6 teams. Single round robin of 5 rounds. Top two teams per group move on to the semifinals. Group A will be seeds 1, 3, 5, 8, 10, and 12. Group B will be seeds 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, and 11.

Semifinals:
- Group 1's winner versus Group 2's runner up
- Group 2's winner versus Group 1's runner up

Should Ko-oren make it this far, I would like to have a third party scorinating Ko-oren's matches in the semifinals and final.

Starting with the Semifinals, a Super Over will be used as a tiebreaker.

Final:
Guess

OOC:
Cutoff would be after 21:00 CET (Central European Time): currently, that is 5:00 AM Sydney time and 15:00 New York time. Word of warning: should the tournament start before and end after the 27th of October, we're moving into winter time so your local cutoff time might change around that date.

RP bonus will be cumulative, and quality will be rewarded.

Scorination will be done using xkoranate's standard T20 method, without home advantage. The xml has been slightly modified to better reflect modern run per over rates.

Style mods will be used for this tournament.

IC:
Cricket has a huge tradition and following in Ko-oren. Its Test Cricket team made it to the final of the most recent season, its T20 team is ranked third and has won a T20 World Cup in the past. Domestically, there are six First Class/List-A teams, all located in the southwest. The stadiums used for their matches will also be used for the T20 World Cup. That means that grounds are, at most, 500 km apart, with excellent connections between the host cities. Among the host cities will be Willowbourne and Greencaster, two of Ko-oren's largest cities, from which every ground will be accessible quickly by car or public transport.

Foreign fans are very welcome! Ko-oren is extremely safe, its public transport is remarkably efficient, and is just all around really scenic.

Extensive host city and stadium information will be provided at the start of the tournament.
