Brief introduction to NS Sports for the newcomers:

Well. It seems you have decided to venture into the world of NS Sports. Or should I say multiverse? Multiverse, definitely. Many questions will arise, and we seriously cannot cover them all. Some will always escape us, and there probably will be new ones brought up by you. However, we can cover the basics.

First of all, you might ask yourself, how does everything work? Well, quite simply, nations sign up, and they get into the competition (or its qualifying stage, if any). There are very few exceptions to that. Then there’s group draws and the like. Pretty simple so far.

Then, you have to post your roster. Surely, your nation is represented by people. Wait, actually, sentient species. Make it species. Actually, just make it something. We’ve had sentient blancmanges competing before, so just something will do. Anyway, you should definitely post a roster. As this is the Baptism of Fire, you most likely will have to start from scratch… which is awesome. You can create your star, your scapegoat, your captain and your manager. Choose their name. Their sex. Their species. Their personality. Their way of playing. Their position. Anything! The more detailed, the better. You can use name generators, or even player generators (if you can be bothered to make one). Maybe your nation uses English names. Maybe your nations uses Portuguese names. Maybe your nation has its own unique names. Maybe your nation uses codes instead of names. You’re free to choose. Finally, you can choose your style modifier. It’s a number ranging from -5 to +5, which determines how defensive/offensive your team is. -5 would represent a team that would sit eleven men on the line for ninety minutes if they could; +5 would represent a team that attacks constantly.

And then there’s the way of getting the scores. We don’t pull them out of our behinds just like that. That would not be professional. We let random numbers pull results out of their behinds, minimizing our liability! But, seriously, scores are far more complicated than most other things.

There’s basically three things you should take into account. First, rank. That will not be a problem for this competition - everyone’s new, and therefore starting from 0. Second, roleplaying bonuses. That’s the biggest part of the entire game. If you want to go far, you must RP. Rosters fall into this category, too. Basically, you can roleplay your match, by writing a report. You can also roleplay a revolution, one of your players killing your president, or literally anything. RP’s are graded by hosts, and they will influence your performance. Think of them as drugs, except they’re completely fine and they probably won’t ruin your future. The better your RP’s are, the better your team will play. The more you RP, the better your team will play. But, what stops NS Sports from becoming a writing competition?

Well, it’s randomness. There’s three R’s for scores: Rank, RP and RAND. Randomness is what makes things interesting. Basically, the best RP’er does not get a guaranteed win, just better chances. Many upsets have happened, and you should definitely never write your team off. Randomness can be a pain in the behind for some, and some kind of Godly gift for others.

Randomness is frequently called “Margaret” here. So, well, that should go straight into the NS Sport Glossary part of your brain. She will be mentioned frequently. You’ll get to know her to her full extent if you stay long enough.

Lastly, there’s more trivial things like permissions, cut-offs and other things. Permissions are what you allow your opponent to do with your player. Do you allow them to choose your scorers? Do you allow them to card your players? What about sending them off? And what about injuring them? And making all the goals of the match incredibly unbelievable? What about kidnapping your entire team and making you lose by default? All of this is covered by our handy permission box, which will be available for copy pasting at the end of this post. Cut-offs are when the hosts (in this case, Farfadillis and Semarland) post saying cut-off and maybe add something into the post. It means no more RP’s will be graded for that matchday. Soon after the cut-offs, results are posted. Often, they’re edited into the cut-off post, so refresh the page frantically. Or be patient. Either works.

This is just your first step here. Contrary to what the size of this forum may indicate, it’s pretty obvious that this is the forum with the most organized way of RPing. You may find yourself pouring your heart into this game-within-a-game soon. Anyway, best of luck to all participants, regardless of whether you end up staying in NS Sports or not.

Some good resources for your rosters:
Line-Up Builder (Builds line-ups)
Smart Shirt Designer 2 (No link for this one, just google it and download it. Might be a bit tricky.)
Behind the Name (Name Generator)
Fake Name Generator (Guess what this one is)

Don’t forget to check the stickied threads. They’ve got some important information in them.

General Information

Farfadillis is a very, very… special nation. It is a nation where chaos reigns; every organization is as disorganized as it can be, and the country seems to rely on impossible amounts of luck for things to still function. There are nine states: Ferdullaele, Frion, Induja, Pacifista, Szoirsia, Shotomalpa, Karuvis, Puerto Farolero and the poorest, most despised, most avoided, most dangerous, Ruland. A worse timecouldn't have been chosen for hosting the Baptism of Fire: at the moment, Rulandese terrorism runs rampant because of the infamous Rulandese genocide. The government is losing its grasp on power, while at the same time fighting a war against its own civilians to keep the order. We sincerely hope your team does not become collateral damage.

The FFFF (Freisan Farf Freitball Francitian), the governing body for football, is known for being one of the most disorganized and incompetent federations in the Multiverse.

Matches can and will be delayed by twelve (IC) hours without previous notice, some matches might be moved from one end of the country to another without notice, and occasionally matches will happen exactly when they should and where they should.

Since Farf football is extremely offensive, Farf crowds will often get bored if your team is defensive, so expect aggressiveness from some of them if your team is boring. If your team is entertaining, however, expect the Farf crowd to cheer you on.

Stadia

La Fantás
Capacity: 100,000
The biggest stadium in Farfadillis, home to the national team. It is situated in the capital, Ferdullaele, where most terrorist attacks happen. It's got many, many, many seats, and it's filled with violent Farves, fanatics without any limits willing to shoot each and every one of your nation's fans! Not really, those are just a minority, albeit an incredibly loud one. No, seriously, gun shots are very loud.

Gra Aguaviva Mitologica
Capacity: 50,000
Home to Flying Jellyfish FC. It's big with decent enough dressing rooms and decent enough seats. But, mind you, Frion, the state where it is, is really cold. There're many flying jellyfishes roaming around the stadium. Beware of those, you don't want to be stung by one. Otherwise, good luck avoiding hypothermia.

La Gran Avenida
Capacity: 40,000
This stadium is safe, comfortable and is situated in a really hot Farf state (Puerto Farolero). This stadium is situated in the middle of a forest. El Gran Bosque is a forest in Puerto Farolero, where a big stadium like this has been built to attract tourists. The view from the highest seats is something impressive. Please, ignore how dangerous the path to the stadium is, and how long it takes to arrive there, considering going by car is banned. However, if you don't get stung by a flying jellyfish, you should be alright. You could still die of dehydration, though. Oh, and the many Farves hiding in the woods to attack you, those are dangerous too.

Situated in Karuvis. Matches in this stadium tend to end up with high scores for some reason. It is otherwise unremarkable.

This stadium will only be used in emergencies.

Adar Jak
Capacity: 32,000
The only stadium in Szoirsia. It's near a desert and it will never rain there. Temperatures may be extreme during day, so games will be played around 19:00. Will be used only during the group stage. Bring water.

General Information

Compared to Farfadillis, Semarland is a much more peaceful and friendly nation. But right now, things are much different than they used to be. As you may or may not know, Semarland has been out of WCC/UICA/AO-sanctioned tournaments for the last few IC years. A combination of mainly political issues and many off-field incidents led to this and as a result the country took a massive hit. Football is by far the most popular thing in Semarland, and well, the lack of football took its toll on the populace. Not just socially but economically as well, with both domestic and international football being hugely popular - losing out on lucrative TV contracts to show foreign leagues and tournaments. It'd be foolish to suggest that a lack of football has upped the (small, of course) crime rate, but criminal activity - in particular drug trafficking involving foreign citizens has rose, but it shouldn't be anything for any travelling supporters from Baptism of Fire countries should worry about. Unless you're going to buy any illegal substances of course, which we would advise against.

The SFA (Semarland Football Association) has had its third major reboot since Semarland entered the multiversal scene, and things are looking on the up again. Former national team legend Marc Lygaard, the new President of the SFA manage to negogiate a potetial bid with the FFFA and secure the hosting rights for the 68th Baptism of Fire, whilst overseeing a successful first season back in the Semarland football league system, as well as a good run for the national team in the AOCAF, heading into the next World Cup. As mentioned before, football is the life and soul of the country so it's good to see such a positive turnaround after these last few years.

Matches will be held in 16 different major stadia throughout the group stages, with eight of those to host Round of 32 games, four to host Round of 16, two to host quarter finals and one to host the semi-final and third place playoff. They can all be found below.

SOCIÉTÉ DU MICHINE

Image
National flag of Michine

The Société du Michine is an idiosyncratic political entity that controls a small, backwater star system located somewhere in time and space, while effectively representing a small human colony located on the largest moon of the deep blue gas giant Korolieff. Michine's main settlement is a living testament to a time when humanity sought to take root in the most unlikely of places, just because it could; an ancient caldera, approximately 10km in diameter, on an otherwise inhospitable moon is spanned by a gigantic pentakis dodacahedral dome in magnesium and glass that encloses a breathable atmosphere. Beneath the dome, around three hundred thousand people live their lives in a fragile, terraformed ecosystem consisting of a city bordering and in places surrounding a deep lake; besides humans and hydroponics, the only organisms larger than bacteria are a greenish blanket of lichens and algae and a few very hardy fish.

Michine was originally a Russian settlement, but much of the colony's early history has been lost to neglect and memory; the present population are almost entirely Francophone, speaking a dialect that while heavily influenced by Russian would be intelligible to a 20th century Parisian. With allegiances to any other entity long since forgotten, Michine's government is nominally run on free market oligarchic principles with an element of direct democracy, but a choking bureaucracy and corruption have made the Conseil de Quatorze - nominally the highest body in the system - somewhat impotent, and the average Michinien relies extensively on black market trading and informal support networks to get anywhere in life. In spite of this, the city's downtown Quartier siècle is a hive of music and artistic endeavour, and sport is a popular distraction - dominated, thanks to its simple rules and minimal equipment, by football.

The unique conditions of Michine mean that, while IFAB rules are broadly used unchanged, football played here has some subtle differences. All games are played on artificial turf with a biodegradable infill - the imported, terraformed plant life being too fragile and scarce to use as a pitch surface. The lack of any weather to speak of also has an effect; with no precipitation and only the gentlest of air movement from the life support plants, climate conditions vary little between matches, and long passes can be placed more precisely with little drift to account for. Michinien football is semi-professional; most players even in the top-tier Ligue Élite have jobs outside of the sport to supplement their income, partially as the Union michinien de football is not immune from the pervasive corruption of Michinien society and player payments, even for national team duty, do not go far; playing for your country is a matter of pride rather than career.

ÉQUIPE DU MICHINE

The 16-man squad announced by the Union michinien de football for the Baptism of Fire is given below. The squad is relatively young; the UMF have generally preferred younger players who can benefit most from the exposure to international football, with the most notable exception being captain Valentine Virasstchiouk who is approaching a full (Michinien) year in age.

GOALKEEPERS
Georges Ignatieff (Stade Michinien)
Denis Lapine (AS Locomotive)

DEFENDERS
Vladimir Baïtcheff (Stade Michinien)
Maxime Kouznetsoff (AS Solaire)
Dimitri Poliakoff (AS Zemlia)
André Tchernikoff (AS Zemlia)
Valentine Virasstchiouk (AS Locomotive)
Nicolas Volochine (AS Spa)

MIDFIELDERS
Vladimir Alticheff (AS Nouveau-Stalingrad)
Stéphane Kossenko (Stade Michinien)
Anatole Krougloff (AS Zemlia)
Youri Samedoff (Olympique du Michine)
Serge Tchorguieff (AS Spa)

STRIKERS
Alexandre Aïvtchenko (AS Zemlia)
Pierre Lavotchkine (Olympique du Michine)
Édouard Mirounoff (Université du Michine)

HEAD COACH
Victor Kovalevitch (Stade Michinien)

MAILLOTS DU MICHINE

Image
Michinien home, change, and goalkeeper kits, supplied by FHT

Michine play in the national colours of red, green, and blue, in kits supplied by Michinien enterprise Fibres de haute-technologie (FHT), who also outfit all teams in the Michinien Ligue Élite. The UMF's current first choice kit features red shirts and stockings with green shorts, all in FHT's asymmetric template with white piping and navy blue trim on the left side; the entire kit has a subtle jacquard pattern throughout, combining with the wing collars for a distinctly early '90s look. The change kit is simply reversed - allowing for mixing and matching for the team to play in all-red or all-green if needed - and goalkeepers have a choice of yellow or teal in the same template (first-choice Denis Lapine tends to prefer yellow).

TACTIQUES DU MICHINE

Michinien football tends towards the defensive; the national team under Victor Kovalevitch have generally reproduced the strategy common in the Ligue Élite, and perfected by Kovalevitch's Stade Michinien, of a packed, well organised, deep defence that launches attacks by way of long-range passes to quick strikers. Gamesmanship and foul play are relatively uncommon; the team are plucky underdogs as opposed to worldly cheaters. This all manifests as a 5-3-2 formation and a -4 style modifier.

My opponent, if they RP first, may:
Choose my scorers: Yes (90% of the time this will be Aïvtchenko or Lavotchkine)
Choose my scoring events: Yes
God-mode scoring events: No
RP injuries to my players: Yes (please ask first via telegram)
God-mode injuries to my players: No
Give yellow cards to my players: Yes
Give red cards to my players: Yes (please ask first via telegram)
God-mode other events: No

I SANTI DI OSCIORU - National football team of Oscioru

Football has been a popular sport in Oscioru for a lot of years with Oscioru being the birthplace of many players who tend to become stars, either because of their extreme athleticism or strength, or even their intelligence. Many golden generations of the national team, comparable to many strong national teams today have faded into obscurity as the Osci National Football Federation never allowed its players to compete in the ultimate multiversal competition, the World Cup. However, in these recent times of crisis where the nation just lacks to find talent and interested players it has decided to send a national delegation with several professionals as well as players found in the local streets or amateur leagues. The team's strength was tested in several friendlies against opposition from all around the multiverse in a series of friendlies, but since the players didn't have as much coordination then as they do have now, the Baptism of Fire, essentially, the baptism of a footballing nation into the footballing world should be the considered very first test of the team's strength and ability to work as one. With hopes up, with one hand clenched as a fist on the chest and the other raised up, the Osci National Football Federation proudly presents its first ever roster for an international competition.

Starting XI:
GK:Carlo Ramires
LI:Frank Sacco
CB:Francisque Larue
CB:Philbert Armati
RB:Antonio Castro
LB:Roger Crocetti
CDM:Isidoro De Michelis
RM:Roland Belrose
LM:Joaquim Sanchez

The team's playstyle: Out of all the friendlies that the Osci team played against multiversal opposition, the one that they team pulled a lot of defenders in the back with counter-attacks only when the opposing team is tired worked the best. Expect the players to play aggresively during the defence but they rarely ever get cards, despite lack of caution. Most counter-attacks end up with the striker either receiving the ball on the box or shooting a lightning ball from outside the box. Every player on the team is good at freekicks and all midfielders can hit corners with the same degree of accuracy.

Brittany Normandy Aquitaine's Football Team

Nickname: B-N-A Stoats (first thing that came up when searching Brittany, France national animal so...)

Staff
--------------------
TEMP Manager: Gael Yannick III [Current Governor of Brittany]
TEMP Assistant Manager: Mael Yannick III [Current Governor of Normandy]
TEMP Assistant Manager Yael Yannick III [Current Governor of Aquitaine]

Team Background: The team was organized as the B-N-A Defenders, but soon re-named to the national animal, the Stoat, something like that. The team was just recently formed as to compete in the NSWC, many attended tryouts, some not realizing what was to come, and quickly were sent home, not many were fit to be in this type of international team, so it seemed as though options were limited, but they managed to fill a roster and have a couple backups on the bench, and if needed, they'd call men from home to play if they just barely failed on the tryout, but needed more players. The team isn't looking to be a competitive team in their first season, unless they somehow turn things around.

Kingdom of Czarna Gora
- National Football Team -

History:
The National Football Team of Czarna Gora was first formed in 1932, during the First Kingdom of Czarna Gora. The team unsuccessfully represented the Kingdom in World Cup qualifications in 1934 and 1938, before being disbanded in 1939 with the onset of the Second World War. After the war, the Kingdom was integrated into the Socialist Federal Republic of Srpska-Czarna Gora, and was thus represented by this national team during the 1950-1984 period. In 1985, the Socialist Federal Republic collapsed, and Czarna Gora regained its independence as the Second Kingdom of Czarna Gora. The National Football Team was reconstituted in 1989, and had subsequently represented the Kingdom in the 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014 World Cup Qualifications, but has yet to successfully qualify. In 2015, the team was placed under the management of Nikola Petrović-Njegoš, a distant member of the Czarno-Goran royal family and avid football enthusiast. He has worked hard to improve the teams image abroad and at home, and has invested a substantial portion of his personal wealth into improving the teams stadium and training facilities.

Head Coach: Ф. Станкић - F. Stankić - 42
Assistant Coach: С. Грбић - S. Grbić - 35
Goalkeeping Coach: Н. Јовановић - N. Jovanović - 39

Formation and Style:
Head Coach, Franjo Stankić, has stated publicly that he plans to enter the upcoming Baptism of Fire Tournament using a 4-5-1 formation. Coach Stankić was well known for using this formation during his highly successful PrvaLiga (ПрваЛига) career with FC Skadar, and his starting lineup takes advantage of much of the talent he developed over the last three years with this club, including defenders F. Shehu and J. Ateljević, and play-maker/team captain B. Živković. The team will play a cautious, defensive game, seeking to wear down their opponent and create late-game scoring opportunities. If more offensive power is needed, Coach Stankić has stated that his footballers are also well practiced with the 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 formations, and opponents can expect fluid transitions between 4-3-3 and 4-5-1 as needed.

For scorination purposes, we have a -4.0 style modifier.

Stadium:
All international matches hosted in Czarna Gora will be held in Podgorica's Stadion Podgoricom (Стадион Подгорицом), unless otherwise stated in RP. Stadion Podgoricom is an open-air football stadium, the largest of its type in Czarna Gora. It can seat 18,300 in its four stands, including 300 in the newly constructed VIP/Press Boxes on the North and South stands. The stadium is conveniently located just north of downtown Podgorica, and just 6 km from the Nikola I Aerodrome.

Zeleny Hrebenia National Football Team
Narodny Futbalovy Tim Zeleny Hrebenia

Image
Crest of the Narodna Futbalova Associacia Zeleny Hrebenia

National Info
Zeleny Hrebenia [ˈzɛlɛni ˈɦrɛbɛnɪ̯a] is a partially recognized state, estimated population 104,540, which declared its independence from Parchantia three years ago. President Ludovit Maloš, a former leader of the "Green Revolution," as the war of independence is known, rules with an iron fist, putting "law and order" first. While there are still occasional clashes between Parchanti and Hrebenian troops, the conflict has largely subsided, and more citizens are slowly coming to question Maloš's style of rule in light of the little conflict that exists.

As the war has subsided in the last year, the country is able to focus its mind on more pleasant things, like football. The team traveling to the Baptism of Fire is fully professional, most of the players having gained their experience in the Parchanti Premier League. 21 of the 23 players on the roster are ethnic Hrebenaci, and were born and raised in Zeleny Hrebenia. They are all veterans of the Green Revolution. The two other players on the 23 man roster are Hrebenian by virtue of a controversial financial-based naturalization process. In both cases, the player's father is a business magnate from Słodkia, a nearby country, who has invested heavily into the weak Hrebenian economy.

Demonyms and Terms of Address
Hrebenaci is the ethnic demonym used to refer to the Hrebenaci ethnicity, which comprises about 90% of the population of the country and all but two players on the national team. It is frequently used interchangeably with Hrebenian, which is the national demonym. As such, this team is formally the Hrebenian team, not the Hrebenaci team. The players are, altogether, Hrebenians. A subset may be entirely Hrebenaci.

Hrebenaci Names
The Hrebenian alphabet includes one diacritic, the haček, which occurs in four letters: č, dž, š, and ž. This makes alveolar sounds postalveolar; for native speakers of English and some other languages, you can envision an 'h' following the letter whenever you see a haček. For example, č makes the ch sound as in the English word 'charge.' For a more detailed write-up on the Hrebenian language, including the International Phonetic Alphabet, please see the NSWiki page. For a spoken pronunciation of each player's name, including the two Słodkane names, in case you will have a vocal element to your RPs, please see the links next to their names.

Team Info
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Style: -2
Colors: Green and Blue
Style of Play: The Hrebenaci are naturally strong, wiry people with exceptional fitness, having grown up and trained in thin mountain air. The traditional shepherding background of the Hrebenaci means the players are endowed with excellent vision, but are built for stamina, and few are exceptionally quick or fast. Because the country has very little footballing history, there are also few 'X-factor' players; this necessitates a strategic focus on teamwork rather than individual talent.

Strength Coach: Ludo Valušek (Pronunciation)

Players

Starters

GK - #1 - Žaroslav Fošek - Age 27 - (Pronunciation)
Calm, collected, and 6 foot 7 inches tall. A steady presence in the net, if not the most technically proficient.

LB - #3 - Žan Bača - Age 29 - (Pronunciation)
Quiet presence, nifty dribbler, with a penchant for taking on midfielders instead of passing upfield.

CB - #21 - Bernard Bača (C) - Age 31 - (Pronunciation)
Rear admiral style leadership, barking out orders to anyone remotely close to him. Temper has mellowed as he's gotten older, but there are still flashes. Extraordinarily strong.

CB - #5 - Blaž Mlinar - Age 28 - (Pronunciation)
Undersized, with an average motor, but reads the pitch well and has good distribution upfield.

RB - #30 - Adam Brzytwa - Age 26 - (Pronunciation)
Eager to please but rarely fit enough to play 90 minutes, thus earning little respect amongst his Hrebenaci teammates. Average skills. Father is a foreign cosmetics magnate.

LDM - #6 - Bogumil Šala - Age 29 - (Pronunciation)
Bald, tattooed, brash, will run harder than you for 90 minutes. Prone to bookings, but they are decreasing as his situational awareness increases. Excellent ability on the counterattack. Accurate long passer.

RDM - #8 - Žanoš Hrudenka - Age 34 - (Pronunciation)
Somewhat lumbering, but makes up for his lack of quickness by good positioning. Understated personality, leads by example.

LW - #11 Isidor Kovač - Age 24 - (Pronunciation)
Quickest player on the team, eager to lead charges down the flank. Good crossing ability, but must work on his ball control skills.

AM - #10 Žulius Krnač - Age 25 - (Pronunciation)
The closest thing this team has to a star. Intelligent and powerful with both legs. Astoundingly quick in any direction. Scoring threat from distance. Not able to win many body battles in the box.

RW - #7 Žuraž Dolin - Age 25 - (Pronunciation)
Tall, lean, relies on his intelligence rather than his strength to get into position for headers. Decent passing. Shooting needs work.

CF - #9 Matež Kanoš - Age 30 - (Pronunciation)
Tall and with excellent ball control ability, he excels at receiving balls high up and then quickly distributing on the ground. Although only 30, he seems older in terms of his fitness and gray temples.

Substitutes
GK - #44 Matež Udžorec - Age 22 - (Pronunciation)
Prankster, quick to laugh and to block shots. Distribution needs work.

GK - #41 Žulian Krašek - Age 38 - (Pronunciation)
Extraordinary vision and ability to guide teammates. Thought of as future coaching material.

FB - #14 Grigor Žurac - Age 37 - (Pronunciation)
Has slowed down considerably from his prime, but has retained his highly proficient passing skills.

FB - #17 Žuraž Uladzos - Age 23 - (Pronunciation)
Quick and ready to run, but lacking ball control abilities. Also heavily favors right foot.

CB - #2 Ludomir Aluž - Age 24 - (Pronunciation)
Lanky, stern, likes to use his elbows. Can get above anybody in a battle up high for the ball.

CB/DM - #4 Tomaš Kunda - Age 20 - (Pronunciation)
Darling of the media due to his good looks, and has potential to be a future leader of the team, but lacking some technical ability, particularly passing.

DM - #12 Adži Hrotonek - Age 37 - (Pronunciation)
Jovial, good natured, great situational awareness. Feet are not quick, and speed is diminished.

DM - #31 Jerzy Grzałka - Age 22 - (Pronunciation)
Self-absorbed and vain, roundly disliked by his teammates, but his passing ability cannot be denied. Son of a foreign energy magnate.

LW/AM - #19 Benadik Pekar - Age 21 - (Pronunciation)
Tall and kind of goofy, leads the counterattack with long strides. Shooting is poor.

AM/RW - #15 Vavrinec Bača - Age 33 - (Pronunciation)
Short and sturdy, thrives on physical contact. Bitter about being passed over for a starting job.

CF/LW - #18 Karel Flušek - Age 23 - (Pronunciation)
Intense but supportive player, with excellent passing ability. Tends to make unwise tackles and get booked for it.

CF/RW - #25 Antonin Kac - Age 29 - (Pronunciation)
Seemingly lackadaisical off the pitch, but focused on it. Small in stature, which he partially overcomes by being fairly quick, but cannot do much work in the box.

Stadium (for future reference, or contemporary RPs)

Image

Žan Matžuš Pekar Stadium seats 19,200, and is situated in the suburbs of the capital, Udolie Križovatka. It is the only stadium with a capacity of greater than 5,000 in Zeleny Hrebenia, and is the home pitch of the country's only fully professional football team, FK Sokolov. Pekar Stadium is a rarity in Zeleny Hrebenia in that it is a relatively recent construction, completed in 2012, but it is quite typical of national building projects, in that its construction was heavily mired by corruption and was stop-and-go for nearly eight years.

Ooh baby, ooh baby, ooh baby,
Of course mama's gonna help build the wall

SB------HENRY McCLEAN------------------------------SWAN LEE-------
D---------------------EUGENE--------GRIMBLE GRUMBLE---------------
GK---------------------------THE SCARECROW---------------------------

Starting XI

GK: The Scarecrow

The black and green scarecrow as everyone knows
Stood with a bird on his hat and straw everywhere
He didn't care

He stood in a field where barley grows

LB: Henry McClean

Hey Eugene, this is Henry McClean
And I've finished my beautiful flying machine
And I'm ringing to say
That I'm leaving and maybe
You'd like to fly with me
And hide with me, baby

CB: Eugene

Careful, careful, careful with that axe, Eugene

CB: Grimble Grumble

A gnome named Grimble Grumble
And little gnomes stay in their homes
Eating, sleeping, drinking their wine
He wore a scarlet tunic,
A blue green hood
It looked quite good
He had a big adventure
Amidst the grass
Fresh air at last
Wining, dining, biding his time
And then one day - hooray!
Another way for gnomes to say
Hoooooooooray

RB: Swan Lee

Swan Lee got up at the Running Foot pow-wow,
heading from the fire to his waiting canoe.
Chattering Squaw untied the wigwam door,
the chief blew smoke rings two by two!

DCM: Arnold Layne

Arnold Layne had a strange hobby
Collecting clothes
Moonshine washing line
They suit him fine
On the wall hung a tall mirror
Distorted view, see through baby blue
Oh, Arnold Layne

(Arnold Layne steals female clothes and wear them on the football field)

DCM: Jennifer Gentle

Jennifer Gentle you’re a witch
You’re the left side
He’s the right side
Oh, no!

(Jennifer Gentle plays football on a broom kinda like those who play quidditch)

ACM: Emily

Emily tries but misunderstands, ah ooh

You'll lose your mind and play
Free games for may
See Emily play

Put on a gown that touches the ground, ah ooh
Float on a river forever and ever, Emily

LW: Gerald

I know a mouse, and he hasn't got a house
I don't know why. I call him Gerald
He's getting rather old, but he's a good mouse

RW: Lucifer Sam

Lucifer Sam, siam cat
Always sitting by your side
Always by your side

That cat’s something I can’t explain

Jennifer Gentle you’re a witch
You’re the left side
He’s the right side
Oh, no!

S: Pink Floyd

Pink is a tortured rock star, having an overprotective mother and his father being killed in the war. His teachers didn't help when he was a kid. He's pretty much different in the 2nd half of the football game from the 1st half:

(1st half)

So ya
Thought ya
Might like to go to the show
To feel the warm thrill of confusion
That space cadet glow
Tell me is something eluding you, sunshine?
Is this not what you expected to see?
If you want to find out what's behind these cold eyes
You'll just have to claw your way through this disguise

(2nd Half)

So ya
Thought ya
Might like to
Go to the show.

To feel that warm thrill of confusion,
That space cadet glow.
I've got some bad news for you sunshine,
Pink isn't well, he stayed back at the hotel
And they sent us along as a surrogate band
We're gonna find out where you fans* really stand.

Are there any queers in the theater tonight?
Get them up against the wall!
There's one in the spotlight, he don't look right to me,
Get him up against the wall!
That one looks Jewish!
And that one's a coon!
Who let all of this riff-raff into the room?
There's one smoking a joint,
And another with spots!
If I had my way,
I'd have all of you shot!

Subs:

Subs don't have an assigned position and can play any position on the field. Preferred subs are in bold. Alan is cooking a psychedelic breakfast on the sidelines during the 1st half and eating it during halftime. He's nice and can share his psychedelic breakfast with the opposite team. Alan's psychedelic breakfast consists of:

Oh, um, flakes, oh... Then, uh, I don't know
Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes
Toast, coffee. Marmalade, I like marmalade
Marmalade, I like marmalade
Porridge is nice
Any cereal, I like all cereal

So here's the subs:

Alan
Vegetable man

Baby Lemonade
Bob Dylan
Carter's father
Charlotte Kringles
Corporal Clegg
Craig Marion
Gigolo Aunt
Julia Dream, dreamboat queen
John
Long Silas Lang
Lucy

Mrs Clegg
Mrs Stores
Old woman with a casket
Seamus
Sysyphus
The grand vizier
The living soul of Hereward the Wake
Vera Lynn

Posthumous player:

A Pink Floyd FC player died before the first game was played:

GK: Effervescing Elephant

An Effervescing Elephant
with tiny eyes and great big trunk
once whispered to the tiny ear
the ear of one inferior
that by next June he'd die, oh yeah!
because the tiger would roam.
The little one said: "Oh my goodness I must stay at home!
and every time I hear a growl
I'll know the tiger's on the prowl
and I'll be really safe, you know
the elephant he told me so."
Everyone was nervy, oh yeah!
and the message was spread
to zebra, mongoose, and the dirty hippopotamus
who wallowed in the mud and chewed
his spicy hippo-plankton food
and tended to ignore the word
preferring to survey a herd
of stupid water bison, oh yeah!
And all the jungle took fright,
and ran around for all the day and the night
but all in vain, because, you see,
the tiger came and said: "Who me?!
You know, I wouldn't hurt not one of you.
I'd much prefer something to chew
and you're all to scant." oh yeah!
He ate the Elephant

MAREIBAT BoF68 ROSTER

Manager: Brian Ashgrove, Aged 62
Assistant Manager: Ezekial Charlestown, Aged
Style: +0.75

Spiel: Years of sporadic attempts at a footballing strategy, and appearances in three regional football tournaments (Copa Rushmori, Campionato Esportiva & IAC) over the years have led to Mareibat, somehow never appearing the multiverse's premier world competition, the World Cup. However, with new Imperator Jhon Cossack at the helm of the nation, the MBC has finally been granted permission to enter the big stuff, and so a Baptism of Fire performance is in order.

Looking at the team, Thorgen Lillehammer is one of the stars in goal, while there is a smattering of decent players (both young and old) throughout the team. They'll be wanting to go far in this mammoth competition.

Federación Hispana de Fútbol

Official Hispanic roster for the 68th Baptism of Fire.
Nómina hispana oficial para el 68vo Bautismo de Fuego.

History

Twenty old nations, a plethora of dialects and customs, 630 million inhabitants spreading across 19 million km2 and six time zones. This is the fusion that comprises the Republic of Unified Hispania, a product of an utopian dream that began with Simón Bolívar back in the 19th century, when the twenty provinces (back then, nations) decided to get rid of roughly 330 years of Spanish colonization, said nations decided to evolve each one differently during 164 years, before the inevitable happened. Nearly a dozen of those nations were in troubles, because o civil wars or facing economic or social issues that were stagnating their progress into a globalized world, then, the Andean nations decided to unify and invited other nations to do the same procedures, and that's how Unified Hispania was born.

A real attempt of union between the old twenty nations that worked, and turned into a gigantic country, sharing all their resources for the benefit of the greater whole, in order to make the Latino people great, again; although the sovereignty of each nation was sacrificed, many of the working frames of the new provinces were kept intact, in order to avoid centralization or further harms that may cause a collapse to the newly-born Union. Currently, in year 1990, the nation has five years after being built, it's progress has been slow, yet noticeable in certain provinces, in others it hasn't been due to internal affairs such as corruption, power struggles, etc, being your quasi stereotypical Hispanic issues you might see in movies and literature that this nation enshrines as one of its pillars, specifically at the northern zone of this republic.

Despite said problems of governance, the Union has managed to awake that old forgotten Hispanic identity, causing a feeling of friendship and belonging from each province to the core of values that this Republic enshrines, such as: Brotherhood, respect, belonging, and hispanity or known as Hispanidad in Spanish, which defends the set of cultures of each province, turning it into one, great and diverse culture that identifies every Hispanic citizen. This concept has been taken only to cultural aspects, although, it has been extended to sports, religion, politics and social expressions, resulting this into the formation of the Hispanic Football Federation, in the attempt to build a team capable to bring Hispanic people together into their passion, football or also known as: Fútbol, or perhaps Fútbol Soccer as they know it in México Province, furbo as they pronounce it on Colón Province, Pelota as they do in San Salvador, or even as wea redonda as they know it in O'Higgins.

Football Origins in Hispania

Football in Hispania started at the late XIX century, as a cultural exchange between Anglo-Saxon maritime traders and inhabitants of cities located at the Cono Sur (Hispania's southernmost region) such as Buenos Aires, Valparaíso, Lima and Montevideo, which are some of the biggest seaports of said region. It was a common sight in 1880 that sea workers decided to spent some free time after lunch playing football, the locals were curious about said sport, which seemed interesting and not so expensive to play, comparing to other sports that were dominant by the Anglo-Saxon diaspora in those cities such as Cricket, Tennis, etc. All the political issues that were affecting the region, acted as fuel in the locals in order to get rid of shame and ask the workers if some of they had a chance to play, at the beginning, the workers were reluctant to let locals play, but somehow, they accepted them to play and decided to teach them the basics, which were simple, to the extent of seeing children catching the rules easily and applying well while playing.

The game started to spread when the sea workers saw that the average Hispanic person had a superior technical skill compared to the Anglo-Saxon counterpart, being also faster and agile to play, this also motivated the locals to gather, buy some balls and forming their own teams in their cities. That's how we had the first teams born, the likes of Esgrima La Plata FC and Valparaíso Rangers were born, although, the first league registrated formally in Hispania was in O'Higgins region (Back then called Chile) in 1894, involving teams from Valparaíso and Santiago, hence, Valparaíso earned the right to be called the Cradle of Football of Hispania, by being the origins of a formalized entity that could manage the sport and promote it over a territory. The efforts made in Valparaíso after the creation of their national football federation, helped to spread the sport to other neighboring nations, and that's how by 1920, 19 of the 20 current provinces had their teams and amateur leagues ongoing, except for Panamá Province, which saw how their first team was created only thirty years ago, in 1960, when Plaza Amador was founded.

In the middle of 1940, the rise of nationalistic dictatorships across the region, were focused to get their nations into higher levels of professionalism at different sports, specially football, which earned it's well deserved spot as being the most popular sport at eighteen of twenty provinces; except for Granada and Bolívar, whose passion tends to be reserved for Baseball; on said period, the governments were aiming to get professional leagues in all senses, betting on the building of football schools, stadiums, and hiring foreign managers, in order to build a unique football philosophy that could be easily impregnated on the teams or even in the nation. All over the time, three nations succeeded on their quest for the international fame, being those La Plata, Artigas and Sao Pedro (In that time: Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil) getting the maximum glory, but things changed since 1980, where several nations sprung up from nowhere and put Hispanic nations in the shade.

Being on the shade and the unification of what we know as Hispania were the reasons that made possible the creation of the Hispanian Football Federation in 1989, as an effort in order to put Hispanic football on the map once again, although, in a complete new reality, completely different to what it was know before, qualifiers with 202 teams, no continental matching, even competing with nations from different universes was completely crazy some years ago, but Hispania doesn't wants to lag behind by considering reality as a craziness.

Game Style

Since the beginnings of football in Hispania, there's a common path that helped to unify styles across the nation and is now making possible to build a national team, it's technique and agility. Both factors are common in the Hispanic populace, the fact of being medium sized people and being involved in different physical activities at least once a day, has helped to develop speed and a good sense of position, in order to elude rivals while conducting the ball, something that favors the usage of counterattacks or short passes on grass instead of using aerial moves on the field. Transitions from defense to attack are also favored by this, also considering that it's usual to see some defenders switching to midfield works or even helping to create attacks on the wings, what it means is that Hispanic football aims for flexibility in roles, in order to get the job done, also focuses on speed and lethal counterattacking, without leaving possession aside, which is a common factor of Hispanic teams too, the fact of controlling the game and not allowing the rival to have the ball for a lot of time.

The average Hispanic player isn't so strong physically, although, we might add some exceptions to this rule, specially when we talk about Artigan or Tegucigalpan players, which tend to be rude due to their superb physical strength and stamina, although, the lack of physical strength is compensated with stamina, which is extremely high and favors the usage of schemes like geggenpressing or totaalvoetbal in their pressure phases, due to the speed and agility, that allows the player to be aggressive while trying to gain the ball, attempting to sweep and recover fast and try to gain the ball once again, this physical condition makes Hispanic football somewhat hard to contain, since it tries to suffocate the rival from the very inception of any attempt to play.

Generally speaking, Hispanic football aims to play aggressively and have control of the game, but this shouldn't be confused by giving up completely on defense or considering the attack as the best defensive scheme. Defending in Hispanic football tends to be very physical, usually reserving this job to people well over the average height (At least 12 cm over the average size of the Hispanic populace, 1.74 m) or people being notable for their aggressive trend while playing. It's usual to see how the Hispanic defender will try to intimidate or abuse psychologically on the opposition, even using taunt approaching or sweeping dangerously when having the slightest chance to do so. Basically, expect to see in the Hispanic National Team, a group of players that will fight each ball like if losing the game would mean a death condemnation, passion and lots of insults can also be expected from our players, which aren't so cannibalesque people, since they know basic manners too.

Manager: Abilio Espinoza, age: 45; hometown: Mendoza, La Plata.

Abilio is known for being one of the most practical managers currently available in Hispania, his motto "What it matters is to score more than the rival" It does indeed look extremely practical, yet, he might confuse fans by other main characteristic of his philosophy, being artistic. Espinoza is known for being an artist and often seen as a revolutionary in Hispanic Football, because his trend of switching key details of his line-up every match or two, not having an established basis of players, which may be seen as counterproductive at first glance, but that's only the tip of the iceberg.

Espinoza works focuses on having at least two players per position, all of them, able to take the position at anytime, hence, he focuses on switching pieces every moment, in order to keep players working and ready for any situation, finding a balance between the players characters and his own game mentality, which usually tends to bet for a fast paced game, in blocks, favoring block movements with players having really specific roles, not only depending the rival mindset and players, also featuring per period of game and handling different scenarios, his pragmatism and revolutionary attitude has taken him to develop a complete booklet of instructions that can perfectly adapt to any circumstance, although, his enthusiasm and lack of self critic may pay badly sometimes, in his desire to go all-or-nothing or analyzing previous mistakes.

Assistant Manager: Sebastián Fernández, age: 43; hometown: Mejicanos, San Salvador.

It might be curious that Sebastián Fernández turns to be the correct person to complete the managerial staff, why? Another guy who prefers an artistic version of football, combined with the pragmatism that characterizes Espinoza, although, he's n't as revolutionary as his partner is, instead, Fernández aims to be artistic into the already established canon of football, which means that he's not a fan of recent styles like geggenpressing, or including his abhorrence to tiki-taka or other schemes that include repetitive passing and extreme importance of possession, that according to Fernández "Makes me fall asleep." More conservative to play, and also careful to seek for mistakes in others, helps Espinoza to make him reason when he's wrong, yet his considerations and empathy may cause people to see in his figure, somebody that's pretty liberal and not so disciplined with players, nonetheless, he's a partisan of letting players act like they want into a solid rule structure, whose boundaries aren't able to be negotiated.

Usual Starting XI Game Scheme

Image
Formation: 5-2-1-2, Offensive Triangle.
Style modifier: +0.75

A 5-2-1-2 seems utterly defensive at first glance, but as it was said before, don't take things for granted when Abilio Espinoza manages a team, a revolutionary like him, always takes things to work differently as one may consider, especially with his preferred formation, a triangular 5-2-1-2. In this schemes, defensive solidness is secured, as flexibility to cover zones is provided on both sides, since the three center backs can perfectly support their wing backs, giving two or three players to cover a zone when needed, also concentrating a lot of units as reserves in case the rival manages to sort out the pressure caused on wings, although, it may be easy to break if you force the center backs to move some meters and gather forwards in order to find up a hole and use it to your favor.

Colón and Castillo may sometimes incorporate themselves to the midfield, turning the scheme into a 3-4-1-2, their labor can be: Wide-up the game, to serve as a distraction to the rival midfield or work as paredes (Literally: Walls), in order to ease up transitional movements to attack, this movements makes Rodrigo Sánchez switch his role to destruction duties, often implying to play in a rude way, in order to recover the ball and distribute for a swift counterattack, Noguera also switches role to play-maker, orchestrating plays and usually coupling up with Vilar in said duty, although, Vilar may serve 80% of times as a false nine, gravitating 25-30 meters away from goal, in order to reduce the amount of players in the final quarter of the rival, Vilar uses his speed and often goes solo or couples with either Basurto or Puga in order to arrive to the area and strike to goal or serve a pass to his couple on attack, being he, a key in the attack due to his speed and superb sense of position.

Sometimes, large crosses might be sent by Colón or Castillo to Basurto or Puga, considering that both have a nice aerial control of the ball, often resulting in a header pass to the other winger or the nearest teammate, serving it in a great position to finish with a goal. In set pieces, Noguera and Basurto are the men in charge to kick, Noguera focuses on crosses to the box, while Basurto takes advantage of being ambidextrous and shoots from wherever he has the chance, usually direct to goal and with a lot of power, though, in some situations, Puga looms as a third choice executor, due to his finesse skills to shoot, not with power, yet good ball positioning, enough to complicate the keeper or confuse the barrier with some strategical set pieces movement. Penalties are taken by Puga or Fontana being the latter known for shooting without mercy in terms of power, being the classical defender taking a penalty kick, though, there's a risk he might sent it close to stratosphere when he fails (So, warn the satellites when Fontana kicks a ball!)

Analyzing the behavior of the offensive zone, Vilar excels by the merit f being the brain of the team, with a logical insight of the game, adding up that he's perfectionist by nature, so it's expected that he would try the impossible to the point of complicating himself when on need or having advantage. Puga is full of potential, deemed to be the big thing in Hispanic football, he's always alert of who's having the ball, his characteristics and movements, hence he's the ideal person to lead pressing tasks on the opposition's defense, since he likes to predict movements due to his methodical thinking on corporal movements. While Basurto might be a sinner in terms of overconfidence and arrogance, yet, he's a polite and disciplined attacker, a hater of mess by nature, doesn't likes to leave loose ends while attacking, prefers to finish plays by himself or being the key orchestrator in order to make sure the play has his seal of quality (Thus, demonstrating his self-righteousness.)

On the midfield, Rodrigo Sánchez is dramatic by nature, and his risk-taking attitude means that he's prone to simulate fouls, even if blatant exaggeration is needed in order to gain a set pieces and re-order the team to create an attacking chance. Noguera is having a great personal moment, he's currentlly ecstatic for being called to the Hispanic National Team, he has been rated as a second-tier player in his natal Tiquicia, but now, he's feeling he has shut down some mouths. He's creative and practical, his great vision of the game makes him to pull out of his sleeve good plays, especially, ideas on how to manage the tempo of the game and a good capacity to decide the perfect moment to unleash an attack or passing the ball back to defense in order to generate a better chance in the next seconds.

At defense, Roque Sánchez is the classic risk taker, his corpulence helps him in order to establish is own rules while defending, he's blunt, rude, aggressive and a lover of taunting rivals, usually a guy that likes to mock others by height issues, his mission: Take the players out of his minds and provoke a card that might condition them for the rest of the game; he's the lover of the dirty job, a guy that always defines himself as anti-system. Toledo is the team's self proclaimed "Asistente Motivador" (Motivating Coach) due to his optimistic attitude in basically any circumstance, pushing the team to give their best, despite they could be down some goals or winning, his mentality is basically a carbon-copy of Mr. Espinoza's ideal of scoring goals without mercy, yet not leaving things loose; on the field, he's known by being cautious and analytical in movements, hence he's some kind of last resort together with Salamanca. Castillo doesn't thinks twice, he acts and takes risks while defending, although he's not as rude as Roque Sánchez, he often sweeps violently, but with good timing, he has earned his reputation as a decent winger, with good offensive projection, even while being attacked constantly. Fontana loves to grab all the flashlights with his defending style, the kind of players called caballeros del fútbol known for playing fair, obeying rules and being rarely carded by his attitude on the field, he's loyal, perfectionist and harsh with himself when he commits errors. Colón is an ambitious and adaptive defender, that according to the circumstances, decides to attack or recover balls, he's flexible and rational, being this somewhat prejudicial since he loves to overthink moves.

And the goalkeeper, Salamanca is another creative guy, harshly critical with himself, a lover of living the moment and also, an attention magnet. Salamanca tends to be excessively spectacular while saving shots, though, effective on it, since he tries to avoid at all costs a situation that might put him negatively into the flashlights of media, or even worse, lead him to self-punishment; Salamanca is good to handle the ball with his feet (Ambidextrous), his ability and attempts to do the insane may lead him to even attempt to dribble forwards in order to give a pass to the defenders or who he considers able to conduct a swift transition to the offense, this makes us consider that he loves to take risks, provided that he has some experience as field player before, since his career started as a midfielder, thing that he remembers and usually does while relaxing after training with his teammates, hence, he knows the risks and consequences of being insane on his business as keeper.

Left-wing Utopia

BoF 68 Roster

Postby Squornshelan Remnant States » Sat Aug 04, 2018 4:44 pm

The Confederacy has a rich footballing history and tradition. As part of the Imperium of Squornshelous, the Confederacy has participated in 37 world cup cycles, from World Cup 5 through World Cup 41, qualifying for 36 of those tournaments. The united Squornshelan team hoisted the trophy only once, in World Cup 31, but appeared in two other finals, and four third place matches, winning two of those. Football is by far the most popular sport both to play and to watch for Confederate citizens, and over-capacity crowds are expected to fill the stands at our upcoming World Cup qualifying matches. Squornshelan national teams have historically played in an all-out attacking style, however, that style has been tempered somewhat since Squornshelans last played internationally. The current team's style employs a 5-4-1 formation and is based on tight defending and quick counterattacks, frequently using overlapping runs down the wings and a target man at striker getting on the end of aerial crosses.

Domestic football is overseen by the Squornshelan Confederate Football Association (SCFA). Currently, there are only 48 league teams, divided among League 1 and League 2. The reigning (and so far only) champions are Traal Athletics, from the northern state of East Fallia, who narrowly edged out Molvanian sides Lublova Reds and Interblag FC. The Confederacy Cup is planned as a domestic tournament, but its inaugural edition has not yet taken place, and will likely be delayed until after the Baptism of Fire Cup concludes.

Manager: Lopal Daror
The championship manager of Traal Athletics is the center of rampant speculation, will his posting to lead the national team prove a springboard to a big payday with one of the Confederacy's richer clubs, or will he remain in the frozen north, and try to lead Traal to a repeat?

As is plain to see, the selection committee has favored younger players where possible, hoping to build a new future for Squornshelan international football. Champions Traal Athletics and first and second runners-up Lublova Reds and Interblag FC are both well represented.
Brief Profiles of Probable Starters:
1 - Istaro Munib - GK
Backstop of the championship-winning defense for Traal, Munib is known as a very cerebral and vocal keeper, frequently shouting instructions to his defense and launching counterattacks with his distribution. He is not the most athletic keeper in the competition, but more than makes up for that with superb positioning and anticipation.

2 - Danin Geladi - FB
A converted winger, Geladi is a common sight flying forward up the left wing. While his left foot is strong, his right can let him down at times, and his eagerness to join the attack leaves him out of position at times. For the time being, however, he makes the starting 11 ahead of more defensive-minded players like Janar Delu or Djabgor Dzarkhin who contribute much less in the attacking third.

3 - Dymek Raktsov - CB
A rising star in the Lublova organization, Raktsov was not without his faults this year, particularly as Lublova stumbled down the stretch and were caught by Traal. Raktsov, however, can be blamed for few of their shortcomings. It is expected that Lublova will build the future of their defense around him.

4 - Tervi Oleb - CB
Another representative from League 1's stingiest defense, Oleb is a well-rounded center back, possessed of the height a vertical leap to win headers in dangerous areas, as well as the poise and experience to avoid making mistakes in front of his own net. His experience playing together with Munib and Geladi will doubtless be of great benefit to the cohesion of our defense.

5 - Zemen Ystrad - CB
While Arkintoofle certain had their difficulties this year, most of them were in the attacking third, as they found themselves unable to overcome a number of 1-goal deficits. Were it not for the excellent play of Ystrad to anchor their defense, they may have finished quite a bit further down the table. The rumor mill links him with a move to Chalesm or Damogran, as his contract is up at the end of next season, and he has indicated he does not intend to re-sign with Arkintoofle unless management demonstrates a willingness to spend heavily next transfer window.

6 - Jinkzta Ulcviecel - FB
While not as attacking minded as his opposite number, Geladi, Ucviecel is probably the fastest player on the roster. His pace allows him to surprise attackers who may think they have him beat, as well as to run right by defenders who misjudge his acceleration.

7 - Vrenz Tambura - RM
While it's no surprise the pacy, young midfielder from League 2 champions AC Damogran made the roster, some are surprised to see him named a starter. Daror may have picked him because he is less of a pure winger than Eyob Zonde, and with only one striker, other players cutting inside will be key to breaking down opposing defenses.

8 - Vaarin Strepol - CM
Strepol is strength and power incarnate. He has a booming shot that he like to let fly regularly, and is very difficult to take off the ball when shielding. He has somewhat of a reputation for hard tackles though, and so may miss a game or two due to yellow cards.

9 - Arlo Damot - CM
Team captain and elder statesman, Damot will be the focal point for the attack. As he is at Traal, he will be the primary distributor of the ball, and the main set-piece taker. His small stature, only 5'9" (175cm), gives him a low center of gravity, allowing him to quickly make multiple direction changes and cutbacks to open space for a pass or shot.

10 - Jzeovak Vladcik - LM
Lublova's new wunderkind, Vladcik was an integral part of their attack, which was second only to that of Chalesm FC. Unlike his teammate Strepol, however, he prefers to score with placement, rather than power, with a knack for curling the ball around the keeper even when shooting from fairly poor angles.

11 - Zoban Ajao - ST
With strength and wiles beyond his years, Ajao spearheaded League 1's highest scoring attack for Chalesm. He will be a threat on aerial plays near the opposition goal, but also has a knack for distributing the ball to players making late runs into the box. Undersized center backs may have difficulty marking him; at 6'4 1/2" (194 cm) and 192 lbs (87 kg) he is quite a handful.

Long Form Name: The Confederacy of Squornshelan Remnant States
Short Form Names: Squornshelan Confederacy, The Confederacy
If You Don't Mind Losing Some Teeth: West Squornshelous
Demonym: Confederate (Squornshelan, Molvanian, Flanian, Algolian, Sivolvian, Brantid, and Han are all cultural/ethnic terms that can describe particular individuals, but not the populace as a whole)
Trigram: SRS

Once the Imperial Viceroyalty of West Squornshelous, the Confederacy of Squornshelan Remnant States gained its independence in a bloody and terrible civil war some 80 years ago. Separated from its former rulers by a narrow sea, seven former provinces banded together to form the Confederacy for mutual security against Imperial aggression and because, despite their differences, they are much more alike than they are different. The states that make up the Confederacy are as follows:

Second largest by area and population, the centrally located Megabrantis is the most influential state politically and economically and home to the national capital, Chalesm, a city of some 2.5 million inhabitants. The regional capital is still located in the old Viceroyal seat of Brantisvogan, a booming metropolis home to nearly 7 million people. Other major cities in Megabrantis include Viltvodle, Arkintoofle, Golgafrincham, Flamarion, and Hensha. Geographically, Megabrantis is fairly diverse, with plains in the south, extending west toward the coast, more rugged, hilly terrain in the north and east, and handful of major rivers.

Molvania was once an independent nation, and competed in World Cups 28 and 29 in its own right, finishing only 3 points out of a qualifying spot in the latter cycle. it was annexed not long thereafter, however, in a relatively bloodless coup (only a few thousands died or disappeared, quite low by Imperial standards). It is the largest and most populous of the Confederate states, but still somewhat underdeveloped. Things have improved in recent decades though, as Molvanians have been able to benefit from their land's resources rather than having them appropriated under the Imperial yoke. The regional capital is Lutenblag, a sprawling city of over 10 million. Other major cities include Lublova, Sjerezo, Sasava, Svetranj, Bardjov, Gryrorik, and Dzrebo.

The gold and green south, Algolia enjoys a pleasant, mediterranean climate, and is regarded across the Confederacy for its excellent cuisine and spectacular beaches. The regional capital is Jaglan, whence Algolia was ruled by Kings for centuries before the Imperial conquest. Damogran, however, is the largest city and a regional center of financial services.

The Sivolvian peninsula in the extreme southwest of the Confederacy is the product of a large complex of extinct and dormant volcanoes. Due to the high prevalence of volcanic ash in the soil and reliable rainfall from its coastal locale, Sivolvia is mainly composed of grasslands, and has very fertile soil for agriculture. While certain of the volcanoes do pose a potential risk to nearby cities like Yassaca, Syneca, and Brasta, they are well monitored, and hazard maps and evacuation plans for the region in the event of heavy ashfall, pyroclastic flows, or lahars are widely published.

The smallest state in the Confederacy, Han Dold is wedged between the sea, Megabrantis and West Flania. Inland, the Han Dold river flows out of Megabrantis and into the spectacular Han Dold Canyonlands, where the river carves its way through soft shales and limestones before emerging onto the coastal plain, where it bisects the regional capital, Han Dold City (no, not everything in Han Dold is named Han Dold ____, just most of it is). Han Dold has built its economy primarily around ecotourism, but also has a respectable fishing fleet, mainly based out of the coastal city of Han Wavel.

The long, coastal northern state of Flania is administratively divided, but united culturally and economically. Long, bitterly cold winters give way for a few months to a brief summer when most of the region's money is made. The only year-round port is Zarss, located far to the West. Traal, home of the current SCFA League 1 champions, Traal Athletics, is icebound some 8 months out of the year. Inland, across the Quentulus mountains, the mining city of Rudlit is actually more acessible from Megabrantis or Molvania than it is from Traal, its closest neighbor as the crow flies.

Busoga Islands National Team

Information
Country code: BUS
Denonym: Busogans/Busoga Islanders/Islanders(Busoga Islanders is the formal term; many Banijans call them Busogans, while locals refer to themselves simply as Islanders, which will be the terminology used by the journalists of this country)
Association: Busoga Islander Soccer Association(BISA)
Manager: Starfire (Pegasus - female), 45 years old, native of the Equestrian States. Starfire is a manager who excels at getting the most out of whatever she's given, regularly keeping the Ponyville Galaxy from relegation with a keen eye for tactics and seemingly boundless optimism that keeps spirits up in the locker room. Starfire was Moon Dust's long-time student as an assistant coach at Ponyville United and pundits tend to think more highly of the pegasus than her club's place in the table might suggest
Senior Assistant Manager: Yamma Mbye. 36 years old, doubles as the new executive director of the Busoga Islands Regional Youth Academy. Spent the twilight of her professional career when she was part of a wave of Banijan female players that went to the Equestrian States, playing for the Manetreal Impact. Just announcing her retirement from the playing scene at 36, she was hired quickly by Starfire to be the Assistant Manager, and they had a good working relationship at the latest AOCAF. She said that connections they shared within the Equestrian States, as well as her own connections in the Busoga Islands, would allow her to be an 'invaluable asset' for the transition.
Captain: Delbin Kasekende
Alternate Captain: Robel Abeselome
Home Kits: Red
Away Kits: Black
Alternate: White

- Our penalty kicks are taken by Kadi Sanneh.
- In terms of substitutions, anybody is OK to substitute off the pitch besides the Abeselome brothers, and Delbin Kasekende. Those three are the core of the team with international experience, and are the team's seasoned leaders.

Select Player Biographies

1. GK Delbin Kasekende

Delbin Kasekende used to be the permanent number one for the Banijan national team, tending the net for the entirety of the World Cup 79 cycle and the entirety of the World Cup 80 cycle. The veteran goalkeeper has won back-to-back gold glove campaigns with Herzegovina City FC, including captaining Herzegovina City FC to an undefeated season in last season's title run, winning his first professional trophy at the club level. He toiled a long time for Dukuma SC, his hometown and boyhood club. He is a native of Dukuma, Busoga Islands. Dukuma SC has long been ridiculed as the worst club in the BSL, finishing in last place in three out of six seasons of BSL play. Two seasons ago, he began switching to Herzegovina City FC to chase after a much-deserved title he clearly wasn't winning in Banija, and did so.

He was in line to take the armband for the Banijan national team after Kiggwe Mavuto's retirement from the national side. Goalkeeping, of course, in World Cup 80, he had an excellent tournament and got rave reviews. But, of course, matters at home took quite a turn, with drought and ensuring war with the Equestrian States leading towards full independence for the Busoga Islands. And, like a number of players, after BISA and the RBSA negotiated an agreement, many players, like himself, had decisions to make- which country would they represent?

The eyes of the sporting world within the country were on him. With Toyuwa Okafor choosing to play for Banija, and Berihu Abeselome choosing to switch his allegiance to the Busoga Islands, it was Kasekende who faced all the pressure. Which would he choose? And after struggling, he chose to go home, to the Busoga Islands. He's received a lot of pushback for that decision at Herzegovina City FC, of course- whose fans are known for being right-wing and nationalistic. He ended up finishing the previous season, however, without much incident at club for his decision. But, of course, he will be one of few players to start a World Cup Finals match, a Cup of Harmony match, and a Baptism of Fire match. He may, in fact, be one of the only players to ever start a match at all 3 WCC tournaments where he started a World Cup Finals match before he started a Baptism of Fire match- though, of course, this is near impossible for us to verify. He is big, 6'4, and with a few years left at the international level, he will forever be known as the first ever captain for the Busoga Islands national team, a feat that he is extremely proud of.

2. RB Berihu Abeselome

The other member of Banija's first ever World Cup team who is on this side, being on the roster, though on the bench, for the World Cup 80 Finals, he lost his starting spot halfway through qualifying, when Banija's new manager came in and redid the entire back line. Of course, the new look backline worked wonders, as they helped lead Banija on a 10 game competitive undefeated run en route to their first ever appearance at a World Cup, World Cup 80.

He's spent the majority of his professional career playing in the Crystal Empire, starting for Crystalopolis City, regarded by many as the class of the United League. He was an obvious choice to be one of the key players on this squad- Starfire has seen him play, up close, as she has managed Ponyville Galaxy. He is the youngest of the three who are expected to be leaders, and after a cycle, he will, naturally, be expected to take the armband from Delbin Kasekende when he eventually retires.

He will be a threat, and a force, for the team. He has seemingly endless amounts of energy- meaning that he can turn defense into offense quickly, and will be prone to look for the counter-attack. And, of course, he has some experience, playing for a national team, and playing in the World Cup. Expect him to be part of the emotional heartbeat of this squad as they enter the Baptism of Fire, and their first ever World Cup Qualification campaign.

Football Association of Raffiah | BoF 68 Roster

Raffiah Quick Facts
Country Code: RFY
Full Name: Grand Duchy of Raffiah
Population: 352,080
Capital and Largest City: Karkekirim (pop: 98,500)
Denonym: Raffian

Long has the domestic football scene been alive and active in Raffiah. In fact, Raffian's have been making their mark for over 50 years in the Aeia. Yet, without a national association behind them, many left to find opportunities abroad, finding fame as players in neighbouring leagues of Onza and Hipasia. As a result, Raffiah is currently in the midst of a skill-drain in terms of its sporting might. In an effort to overturn this, the government has created for the first time ever a Raffian Football Association, mandating it with the creation of a domestic league system (due to commence after this year's World Cup) and of course, a national football team, ready, prepared and willing to take on the best that the football world has to offer. Many semi-professional clubs located within Raffiah have been brought into an official fold, and while still operating at a semi-professional level, the expectations and future prospects of official competition lead to many believing a future of prosperity in the sport will be achievable. The national team has been formed from an extensive trialling period, across all domestic clubs that will enter the Raffian football pyramid at its top two levels. From this, a team of 25 players has been chosen, believed to be the finest Raffiah has to offer in terms of skill, athletic ability and mental endurance. Enthusiasm within the country is high, with this being the first international competition Raffiah will play in, thousands of fans have flocked to Semarland for a taste of the action, and with the recent completion of the national stadium at home, many can't wait for the World Cup Qualifying proper to begin, to see their team play in their country on the international stage. While enthusiasm is high, expectations are modest. With a population of only 352,080 Raffians know that they will never make a huge impact in the footballing scene, or at least they won't any time soon, but the pride of seeing their country at last perform has washed away any overarching concerns of performance.

The Roster
Image
Formation: 2-2-2-3-1
Modifier: +4
Manager: Leo Lapid (55)

Raffiah's team reflects the nations demographics. Fifteen of the twenty-five man squad are of Jewish origin, six are Druze, and the remaining four hail from native Raffian communities or from Raffiah's small immigrant community. This diverse set of players and play-styles is likely to make for an exciting game. Manager Leo Lapid, hailing from Yardion has drilled in to the team the idea of interdependence and a sturdy passing system. Raffian tactics appear to prefer playing it out through the defence in short direct and precise passes, with high levels of possession and a menacing passing game. The interlinking of these passes means that Raffian players have greater time on the ball to consider which pass to make, often with two or three options to drive the ball forward into a meaningful attack. The weakness of this approach is that, when Raffiah do not have the ball it is often difficult to win it back, particularly due to the teams aversion to conceding cards. A system of pairing up to force opposition attacks off the ball has currently been employed which has seen moderate success in training.

Team captain, Ben Sahar leads the way in the centre of midfield as a staunch buttress of the passing game created by Lapid. Combined on the wings with the speed of both Lior Ben-Tzion and Sami Elkardan, Sahar's strong passing game creates difficult to spot holes in defence within the flash of an eye. Dani Rafaelov's eye for goal has led him to be selected as the team's sole striker for the tournament; while not exerting particular control over the ball when in his possession, his accuracy when hitting the target, and the beauty with which he is able to curl balls during set-pieces or in open play outside the box has made him a house-hold name in Raffiah. Raffiah is less known for its defence, never in the spotlight but simultaneously doing perhaps the most difficult job, all Raffian play starts from the defence. The formation chosen leaves the defenders stretched, and thus Shlomo Elkin and Yonatan Chityat in particular were chosen in the starting eleven thanks to their excellent fitness levels, allowing them to keep a high energy performance consistently throughout the game.

Saint Émelie Roster For BoF 68

Saint Émelie mark their arrival on the world cup cycle scene with the 68th Baptism of Fire in Farfadillis and Semarland.

Team Information:

Style Mod: +2
Nickname: Les Insulaires
Team Colours: Blue and white
Captain: Florian Bastereud
Formation: 4-4-2 (diamond)

The Team:

Head Coach: Amélie Martín

45 year old Amélie Martín is the lady tasked with managing the team for their world cup debut and has a tough job on her hands. Like the majority of the squad, it will be her first time away from the island of Saint Émelie and with her only experience to call upon being in the hugely undeveloped Ligue d'Ile and 3 AOCAF games, she is still well out of her depth.
Martín played for around 15 years in that league before making the switch to management. The Saint Émelie FA believes that she is therefore the person with the most thorough understanding of football on the island and is as good a person as any to make the trip abroad.

Assistant Coach: Jacques Barre

Alongside Martín will be the experienced head of Jacques Barre. The 58 year old also once played in the Ligue d'Ile, but finished early due to injury and 'not being able to run like he used to.' Since then, he has managed 3 of the island's teams, getting to know many of Saint Émelie's best players in the process.
Despite his increased experience relative to Martín, Barre lacks the dynamic approach to management preferred by the island's footballing authorities. His tactical mind will however provide a calm word in Martín's ear when needed.

Team Doctor and Physio: Antonin Gardinier

Gardinier has little to no experience with sports injuries or fitness management, but as the island's best general doctor, was picked to make the trip to the Equestrian States as he would 'have to do.' He has a fairly hands on approach to medicine and players will probably be hoping they remain injury-free throughout the tournament due to fear of a good prodding and Gardinier's tendency to opt for surgery when possible rather than when neccessary.

Goalkeepers:

#1-Hubért Joubert-age 32-Stade Barbotteau
#12-Caroline Chapelle-age 24-CA Le Goutiér
#23-Robin Patenaude-age 27-Racing Montmirail

The experienced Joubert will be Saint Émelie's number one throughout the cycle. The 32 year old has established a reputation as the best all-round goalkeeper on the island and has particularly impressive distribution with his range of kicks and throws. He is also solid with crosses, but his shot-stopping skills will recieve more of an examination against international opposition compared to at home.
Caroline Chapelle is very much the understudy in the team. The 24 year old is an excellent shot stopper, but is less experieced and ultimately deficient in the areas where Joubert is strong. This may keep her out of the starting lineup for now, but she is here to learn and will almost certainly take over the starting role one day.
Robin Patenaude is decent by island standards, but is really only in the squad as injury cover and to have a nice time. If Saint Émelie actually end up playing him, they will be desparate and will probably lose.

Wide Defenders:

#2-RB-Charléne Forestier-age 23-CA Le Goutier
#5-LB-Max Lestiénne-age 28-CF Savenay
#13-RB-Paul Gasquet-age 25-Stade Barbotteau
#16-LB-Chloé Travert-age 21-Stade de Saint Marie

Saint Émelie's selection of full-backs is also a mixed bag. Max Lestiénne is the only player over 25 of the four players chosen, but the additional domestic experience will probably count for nothing in the international arena.
Saint Émelie's teams generally try to play with quick full-backs, using them to push up the pitch and provide an additional option for attacking players. This usually requires high fitness levels and will be even more testing for the players against better-quality opposition.
This is provided by a youthful lineup that includes up-and-coming Le Goutier player Charléne Forestier as well as 21 year old Chloé Travert, who despite her young age has already become one of the talents in the Saint Émelie league to watch in the coming months and years.
Rather like Robin Patenaude, Paul Gasquet is very much just along for the ride, but will provide reasonably coherent cover if needed.

Central Defenders:

#3-Daniel Bouchard-age 32-CF Duport
#4-Mignon Laureille-age 29-Stade Barbotteau
#14-Emeli Pied-age 27-CF Soufriére
#15-Claude Leclerc-age 24-CA Le Goutier

Saint Émeli's central defenders are the polar opposites to their wide counterparts. Big, powerful and not afraid to put in a strong tackle, they are certainly up to the physical challenge posed by any opposition, even internationally.
Daniel Bouchard and Mignon Laureille, who is anything but sweet, are the epitomy of this and despite their lack of pace, sitting deep and heading stuff out of the danger zone has become a common practice.
Their slowness will almost certainly be exposed by stronger opposition, but their prescence may frustrate, for a little while at least.

Midfielders:

CDM-#6-Florian Bastereud-age 32-CF Dupont
RM-#7-Florence Caseille-age 24-CF Savenay
CAM-#8-Simon Pelletier-age 30-CF Soufriére
LM-#9-Mathilde Laurent-age 26-CF Riviera
CM-#17-Laurent Michaud-age 25-Stade de Saint Marie
RW-#18-Emeli Fontaine-age 28-Stade Barbotteau
LW-#19-Tomas Cousineau-age 20-Racing Montmirail
CAM-#20-Jadine Dupont-age 26-CF Le Goutier

The midfield diamond is probably the most experienced of the Saint Émelie setup, although everything is of course relative. Florian Bastereud is the key component, with the 32 year old both the team's captain and midfield enforcer. The wings are also important however. Play in Saint Émelie requires fast movement of the ball to negate some fairly rustic pitches and will often be fed out to the wide players. Florence Caseille is a massive talent on the right whilst Mathilde Laurent is now an established name on the island and can deliver a fantastic set piece.

Simon Pelletier is often the intermediate between defense and attack, but has a keen eye for a through ball, both over the top and through the middle of a defense. He is probably the team's best chance of scoring from distance as well. The 30 year old has scored many times in the Ligue d'Île from outside of the penalty area and will look to notch a few more in the coming international season.

Forwards:

#10-Marine Fouché-age 29-CF Savenay
#11-Dominic Trion-age 25-Stade Barbotteau
#21-Marizanne Proliné-age 23-CF Riviera
#22-Sara Katjanović-age 28-FK SavaFluss (in Mattijana)

Sara Katjanović is very much the star player in this Saint Émelie side and is also the only player operating outside of Saint Émelie. The third-choice Savafluss striker has a Mattijanan father and a mother from the island and fortunately, can handle both the Mattijanan and French languages.

As a player, she is a real poacher. Diminutive in stature, the 28 year old knows how to find the back of the net and knows where to position herself to do it, complementing the pace and crossing style from the wingers.

Dominic Trion joins Katjanović up top and brings a very different skill set. Big, tall and handy in the air, he is much clumsier than his more agile partner, but even though opponents may know his game, dealing with it could be more of a challenge.

Tactical Notes:

Saint Émelie's isolation means that the style of football has deviated rather a lot compared to the rest of the world. It is in fact rather agricultural, with a lot of physical challenges and strong aerial play.
This means that the team will inevitably pick up cards. No malice is meant, but the physicality of the team will mean that injuries may occur.

Otherwise, Saint Émelie's style of football is actually fairly easy on the eye. Quick passing from front to back as well as movement on the wings is the game-plan and when it pays off, it looks great.
When it doesn't, it looks like an incoherent mess and if fans wish to be realistic, this is probably what they will get for the most part against some high-class defenses.

Recent Results:
Saint Émelie 4-2 South Toronto (AOCAF)
Saint Emelie 0-2 Mriin (AOCAF)
Saint Émelie 4-3 Vilita and Turori (AOCAF)

United Dominion of Krenorus | Roster for B.O.F. 68

Football often nicknamed Footsoccer to not confuse it with Krenorussite* Football, is the third most popular sport in the Dominion, after Krenorussite Football and Cricket. Most Krenorussians watch the top four most popular sports, only... though what ethnic group that person is might determine what he watches, for example, Krenorussians of Irish descent are more likely to watch a game of Rounders than a game of Football. Krenorussian fans of football are extremely loyal, the same goes for other sports Krenorussians watch. Now, in response to the 65th Krenorussian Eminent's League, which is similar to the well-known Premier League, much-talented Football players have joined Krenorussian Football Clubs. Krenorus is happy to present the Dominion's National Football Team!

Official Notice by Gerald Barbs, Manager of the National Team

'Friends, I would like to give you the knowledge that the coach for the Eagle-Eyed Fighters, Leonard Lionels, who is also my good friends, has been training them to be able to win this championship. My friends, I believe that we can do this! We have spectacular players who are waiting to prove their potential in the Baptism of Fire along with the World Cup! Friends, thank you.'

Playstyle:

Krenorussians will normally present a mix of tactics and personal skill when they play. While the former is used to help the players' teams get an edge over their opponents, the latter is to purely show skill and earn honour. While most football clubs do not encourage the showing off of personal skill in such a means as say... boasting, Lords FC is an exception to this. Lord van Gaal is known to do this less frequently than other players. Other than that, they're pretty conventional.

Krenorussian terms for Football:

Football: Official Term
Footsoccer: Term used by the public
Soccer: Slightly rare term used by the public, a shortening of Footsoccer
Assocer: Term used by the Lords of Krenorus
Futtabol: Term used by Indigenous Krenorussians

Goaller-stopper: Goalkeeper
Goaller: a person who scored a goal
Ballkicker: Footballer
Trainer: Manager/Coach
Cappy: Captain

*Do not use Krenorussite, the correct term is Krenorussian. Krenorussite is an archaic term, it still appears in some names of old businesses and sports. Krenorussite Football is similar to Association Football, but hands can also be used.

Score goals... Lord van Gaal is the top scorer. Thorn Jacobsen, Dash Phillips, Ace Richardson, and Ash Arrowson will also score goals. Other Midfielders might also score goals.

Stun the Audience If ya' want some great kicks and spectacular moves, the Kenneth brothers will be able to do it, especially Keeshawn Kenneth. Phillips can run extremely fast and may impress you. Finally, van Gaal can show some skill.

Get into a fight, maybe? If you get into a brawl with a Krenorussian, just remember this: Most Krenorussian players will jump you all together. In fact, sometimes in Krenorus, whole teams will get into a brawl. O'Brien is one of the most aggressive players.

Knock you the hell!!! out?O'Brien is 6'6" and weighs around 160 pounds, he is also quite aggressive. However, Jacobsen and MacMasters have also knocked players out before. If you wanna' get knocked out by van Gaal, you're gonna' be sad at the news. Lord van Gaal has to much honour to stoop down to those levels. After all, he is a member of Lords AsFC, which is specifically for the Lords of Krenorus.

Save the Goal!!! Fireson is known for his spectacular saves. Saving the ball by clutching it in between his hips. Krusen will also be able to save the balls.
