The capital city and seat of His Majesty the King is Carigrad, while the most populous city in the Kingdom is Beograd.
Nikolia is ruled by His Majesty King Aleksandar II who, together with the Crown Council of Nikolia form the executive branch of the Nikolian government. The Chancellor of Nikolia who heads the Crown Council in His Majesty's absence is Branislav Jovanovski.
Nikolia has a strong and leading economy in its part of the region. Manufacturing industry, mining and agriculture form the largest income of the Nikolian economy. More than 64% of the Nikolian territory is under crops, making Nikolia the largest producer of wheat and corn in the region. Largest exports of Nikolia are agricultural products, raw materials, vehicles and machinery, while the largest imports are crude oil and raw materials not present in Nikolia such as cocoa, cotton and silk. The official currency of Nikolia is Kruna (symbol: Kr) and the exchange rate is 22 kruna for 1 NSD.
Official languages in Nikolia are Serbian and Mazurian(aka Polish), with Serbian being predominately used by authorities considering the number of native speakers (610 million). Mazurian, although constitutional language, is mostly used in voivodeships of Mazuria and Leszka where there are majority of speakers of that language.
Nikolians are predominantly Christians with approximately 570 million Orthodox Christians and approximately 150 million Roman Catholics. The remaining percentage of people include atheists, protestants and pagans.
The embassies are mostly located in Kingdom's capital - Carigrad and it is Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommendation for countries to open their embassies in Carigrad considering all government institutions are there. Consulates are usually located in Beograd and Katovice where large amounts of expats live.
Every embassy chancery is protected with a section of Žandarmerija (Gendarmerie) tasked for protection of diplomatic missions. The Žandarmerija is an elite armed police force tasked for counter terrorism, anti-riot and crowd control, as well as protection of high ranking officials and establishments. The only exception are embassies on Dvorsko brdo, where jurisdiction on protection of embassies lies onto the Castle Police. As per the Healthcare Act, all ambulance services are required to provide urgent medical care within 15 minutes from the reception of the call, furthermore, calls from diplomatic missions are first in priority. All diplomatic missions are located 10 minutes or less by a car to the nearest hospital or medical centre.
Carigrad, one of the oldest cities in Astyria, situated in heart of the Moravian plain is a perfect fuse of charming 18th and 19th century architecture and modernism of the 21st century. Located on the confluence of river Vizelj into Dunaj river with a hill overlooking the plain, it was a perfect place for King Uroš I to found it in 520 AD as a frontier fort guarding the Kingdom from the east. During the expansion of the Kingdom, the city quickly lost its importance and the fort was pretty much abandoned leaving several small villages around it. The fort was nearly forgotten and the villages that formed slowly increased in size, albeit remaining pretty small compared to other places in the Kingdom. In 955 AD, before the Battle of the Three Kings, Holy Emperor Stefan I had a vision that in the Moravian plain, where two large rivers meet was a magnificent city of unprecedented beauty, with a large fort on top of a hill overlooking the plain. He envisioned that, should his army came out victorious in the battle, that city will be the gift from gods. And so it was, after the battle, the Nikolian army came out victorious, and Stefan I rushed to find the city he had a vision about. Upon finding it, he reconstructed a fort and after that he was crowned as the Emperor of Nikolians, and in his honour the city was renamed Carigrad from the Slavic word "Tsar" meaning Emperor.
Nowadays, Carigrad is a vibrant city with its traditional, old city core and its modern business parts. It has little over 5 million citizens on an area of 1,524 square kilometers. Apart from being country's capital, it is also known as the Nikolian capital of students as many Nikolian students choose numerous of Carigradian universities, the most prestige of them, the Imperial University of Carigrad is dating from 13th century.
Embassies are located in Dvorsko brdo, Vinogradi, Stari grad and Voždovo districts.
Some sovereign states have chosen not to post a resident Ambassador in Nikolia for various reasons. Sometimes, it can be that interests between the two countries are simply not high enough to warrant the opening of a physical embassy, but enough to still maintain diplomatic relations by accrediting a non-resident Ambassador.

Dvorsko brdo, or Castle Hill in English is a hill overlooking the wider area of Carigrad. It is located west from the confluence of rivers Vizelj and Dunaj and it is 342 meters high. The hill itself is a place from where the city started to develop. In 520 AD King Uroš I founded the first fort and a town on this hill which served as a frontier fortification. In 955 AD Holy Emperor Stefan I rebuilds the fort and makes himself a castle and declares the town as a capital of the newly founded Nikolian Empire. Since then, the seat of the Nikolian Monarchs remained on that same hill and today the Imperial Palace of Carigrad, one of the largest by area in the world, spanning over 70,000 square meters serves as the seat of the Nikolian Monarch. The area behind the castle was inhabited by the nobility and rich Nikolians and today it still holds the title as the most prestigious and expensive neighbourhood in Nikolia. Numerous of villas and palaces in baroque and mannerist style decorate this neighbourhood which later became protected by the state and entered into list of ARCHO (Astyrian Regional Culture and Heritage Organisation) sites under the entry Historic Centre of Carigrad and Surroundings in 1991. The Dvorsko brdo is a gated neighbourhood and vehicular transport is limited to bearers of the special permit; pedestrians, however are subject of a search by the Castle Police.
Embassy chanceries are situated in vacant villas and palaces constructed in 19th century.

It is located across the river Dunaj from the Dvorsko brdo, connected with the other side by a chain bridge known as Saint Stefan I bridge. Central part of Stari grad with King's Square forms Carigrad's city centre. The King's Square hosts Carigrad City Hall, a baroque building from the start of the 19th century, a large arch building of the Army General Staff and in the centre of the square lies Aleksandar's Column, a reminder of wars in 1800's. Located only 15 minutes from the city centre, Voždovo is connected with the rest of the city by metro lines C2 and C5 as well as Voždovo railway station. Founded as a merchant city in 14th century by Mazurian Prince Casimir III on the coast of Putin strait in east Nikolian Voivodeship of Mazuria, Katovice increased its influence as a major trading port in this part of Astyria. Following the unification with Nikolian Empire, the city was granted with Free Imperial City status which gave its rulers certain autonomy. Such step insured the steady flow of finances directly to the city authorities. After the reforms and the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century, Katovice becomes capital of the Voivodeship of Mazuria and many metal factories emerge thanks to the nearby ore mines. The city rapidly grew in size and industrial strength only to become the largest industrial hub in Nikolia.
Nowadays it still holds such title, and many Nikolian manufacturers, such as LZS, Kaminski and Solis have their factories in Katovice.
