Founded almost 100 years ago, Real meal has been one of the first fast food chains to extensively utilize synthetic meat , urban hydroponics and petroleum derivatives to produce incredibly cheap and tasty food. Automated workers and A.I. Managers were also quickly deployed to further reduce costs, giving Real Meal a significant edge over their competition. Profit margins were wide and Real Meal expanded like wildfire.

As Real Meal rose to world prominence, public health dramatically declined across the globe. The number of Overweight and Obese people doubled, heart disease and metabolic illnesses became the norm in many countries. Governments and Healthcare officials soon discovered that Real Meal has broken several regulations regarding food preparation and used illegal, addictive substances as ingredients. They tried to put an end to Real Meal's recklessness, but by now the Corporate Giant was too large to stop. Its army of Lawyers and Lobbyist prevented any meaningful legalization for decades.

Then, about 10 years, an international group of "Eco-Terrorists" known as "Guardians of Eden" has issued an ultimatum to the food giant, demanding that the corporation stops using addictive and toxic ingredients. Real Meal refused to negotiate. The terrorists launched a full-scale war on Real Meal, bombing restaurants, offices and production facilities. Real Meal retaliated adding armed security drones to its establishments and by buying out some of the world's last nature preserves. The preserves were then used as dumping ground for Real Meal's industrial waste. This only further escalated the war, which eventually resulted in the annihilation of both entities. The Eco Terrorists suffered massive casualties, and Real Meal suffered massive losses in assets.

Unable to continue its global operations, Real Meal saved what little it could and filed for bankruptcy. For 10 years, the world was without Real Meal.

Then, Just a few months ago, out of nowhere, A new Real Meal restaurant opened in London. It became in instant hit with its realistic fish and chips, steakburgers and cheese salads. Real Meal now has to rebuild from the ashes.

In recent years, to swell the national coffers, the State Mother has opened three cities to the outside world: Nova Delhi (formerly New Delhi, their one city that was destroyed before Pakistan was obliterated), Mumbai, and Chennai. There, she has set up tax shelters for large corporations in an attempt to draw large corporations to India. The people largely support this initiative, as it has allowed India to update their rail system, allowing for easier speed of travel and allowed unknown luxuries to come, like "WiFi" and small, portable computers.

- Banned: Businesses found operating outside of the three designated capitalist zones will be fined severely by the government, and military action may be taken.

Androids do not, but clones (that are born in and live in India as citizens) would, as they are seen as true citizens, identified as clones by tattoos on their forearms.

And no, they cannot be paid in food. This is a successful communist state, only successful because the state works with and protects the people.

Brief History: The Confederacy of the Americas is only a state because it has a sufficient amount of guns to make corporations respect it as a state. It has no legitimacy beyond force of arms, but it has plenty of that. The Confederacy is a neo-feudalistic structure of warlords atop warlords, from the man who controls a few villages to the de Ciudad Bolívars, the most powerful warlords that command the loyalty of all those below them.

The Confederacy owes its existence to nuclear war; although South America was a low-priority target for nuclear powers, allowing it to emerge in a good position, it nonetheless suffered a complete societal collapse as foreign aid dried up and resources became scarce. Naturally, martial law was introduced, but martial law quickly devolved into warlordism as military units began seizing supplies 'for the good of the nation.' Self-defence militias to protect against the military were organised, but these too quickly devolved into groups little better than the military, as did the cartels. Of course, as with all things, warlordism came to an end eventually under a man by the name of Pablo de Ciudad Bolívar, a warlord originally based around Ciudad Bolívar with much of the former Venezuelan Army under his command. He led a campaign of divide and conquer across much of the north of South America, creating a neo-feudalistic system, naming loyal allies to command of some areas while those who swore loyalty were allowed to remain in control of their fiefdoms. This situation continued through the descendants of Pablo by the eldest child. Although violent, the lack of regulation and ethical oversight has made the Confederacy a location for heavily-armed but entrepreneurial corporations to make their homes as just another vassal of the Confederacy, paying lip service to the de Ciudad Bolívar with the occasional tribute to buy off warlords.
Corporate Policies:

• Tribute, Not Tax: The Confederacy does not have an organised tax system for corporations. Rather, warlords will periodically demand tribute, normally in the form of arms or research. Tribute is irregular, both in terms of quantity and timing between corporations, and will frequently depend on the relations between the corporation and the warlords involved. Tribute can also be given voluntarily to keep warlords appeased.
• Absolute Feudalism: There aren't really any form of worker's rights or trade unions in the Confederacy, outside of the soldiers of the various warlords and their families who receive privileged status. Citizens of the Confederacy have no legal protection except what they can provide for themselves.
• Rule of Force: Due to the feudalistic nature of the Confederacy, corporations are regarded as just another vassal of the Confederacy and thus are expected to be able to both defend themselves from other warlords and to fight in defence of the Confederacy from foreign opposition.
• Lack of Ethics: Morality is irrelevant to the Confederacy. Make of that what you will.

In the aftermath, the corporation was wealthy riding off the back of the war and lasted into the dystopian era. The Corporation was highly secretive of it's research, going as far as to kill it's own interns if they found out about it. Now, they're one of the last major corporations of the world, still banging the drums of war as weapons continue leaving the production line.
Corporation Expertise: Like it's namesake, the corporation mainly focuses on mass production of simple weapons for the military of nations.

Brief History: In the immediate aftermath of the collapse, all those decades ago, much of the world was in utter disarray, with the disenfranchised and former soldiers alike setting about looting, rioting and destroying all that they could. - Tax Shelter: If a corporation moves their HQ to one of India's open cities, for the first two years they are there they are allowed a 0% tax rate as long as they employ 10,000+ people. After two years they are given a flat rate of 10%.
- Employment Benefits: If a corporation employs more than 250,000 employees in India, they are only taxed 1% and the state will compensate them for half of the money lost in the mandatory worker's rights programs the State implements, like maternity leave, guaranteed vacation time, and other programs that benefit the workers.
- Customs: All foreigners when entering India to do business, must turn around the times and sing the national anthem of India. It is a law meant to show that the State is in charge, not big business.
- Real Meal Special Rates: The government, interested in a deal with the world's former largest food chain, has put in bids against other entities to have their food go into Real Meal's products, in return for them employing Indian citizens and basing their HQ in Mumbai. In return they will pay no taxes for the first ten years in return for a 30 year food supply exclusivity contract with the government.

Revenge: Corporations that attempt to harm the government or aid any entity that seeks to harm the government will have their assets seized and will be forced to pay an amount equivalent to half of any damages predicted to have happened if the sabotage had been successful.
For The People: Citizens are not to be used in any tests without their permission or hat of the government, and upon death the corporation must pay the equivalent of five years wages to the subject's family. In the event that they have no family the amount must be payed to the state.
Humanity: Androids do not count as employees when assessing tax breaks, while clones do (if they are a clone of an Indian, born in India, and have lived in India for most of their life.
Eviction: The government has the right to, at any time, close the special economic zones within India. Corporations will be allowed to stay for six months on, but after that they must be completely removed from the country. They must continue to pay taxes to the government until their contracts are up.
War: If the nation goes to war, corporations must either have their taxes raised to 50% for the duration of the war or contribute 1/10 of the total troops India is capable of fielding at the time to help fight in the war.

Brief History: The Confederacy of the Americas is only a state because it has a sufficient amount of guns to make corporations respect it as a state. It has no legitimacy beyond force of arms, but it has plenty of that. The Confederacy is a neo-feudalistic structure of warlords atop warlords, from the man who controls a few villages to the de Ciudad Bolívars, the most powerful warlords that command the loyalty of all those below them.
Corporate Policies:

• Tribute, Not Tax: The Confederacy does not have an organised tax system for corporations. Rather, warlords will periodically demand tribute, normally in the form of arms or research. Tribute is irregular, both in terms of quantity and timing between corporations, and will frequently depend on the relations between the corporation and the warlords involved.
• Absolute Feudalism: There aren't really any form of worker's rights or trade unions in the Confederacy, outside of the soldiers of the various warlords and their families who receive privileged status. Citizens of the Confederacy have no legal protection except what they can provide for themselves.
• Rule of Force: Due to the feudalistic nature of the Confederacy, corporations are regarded as just another vassal of the Confederacy and thus are expected to be able to both defend themselves from other warlords and to fight in defence of the Confederacy from foreign opposition.
• Lack of Ethics: Morality is irrelevant to the Confederacy. Make of that what you will.

An interesting approach to taxation. Trade definite taxation for arbitrary demands. Cool concept either way, and accepted.

Between internal security and property rights I figure I can attract the smaller corporations without the wherewithal to protect their own assets with their own military resources.

Yes and no- same principle, but far more variable. Innovations can cover anything from “+1 Capital from Soliciting Investors” to “Launching Interplanetary Colonization Vessel”. They also aren’t exactly secret.
