He's certainly not fixing it, but then again, his predecessors didn't either.
To be fairer, I don't think you can fix that kind of extreme poverty without mass support from all levels of government and a lot of time.
Campaign finance would be the one area that could and should be fixed. There was a report that shows Senators spend 30% in general of their time on raising funds rising to 70-80% during election season. And who are they ringing.. wealthy donors.. so their priorities are skewed upfront.
These days a set amount of airtime, a website correlated against their record and a set amount of advertising would suffice.. the ridiculous amount spent on funding elections is a travesty really.. people would be far better motivated to fix actual problems if their success wasn't predicated on the amount of money they begged for.
