Terrible Writing Advice put up his first serious writing advice video, on the nature of cliches. It was very good and worth a listen. As a further supplement, here is another video also about cliches that I thought brought up valuable points too.

A heads-up, if it was missed in the PLanning channel: Our characters wouldn't notice any change except that Bielefeld is now there. It wouldn't be "Demens comes off as erratic and confusing by comparison, like a toddler who can't decide of which toy to play with and what dull name to give it" because, as far as our characters know, we've always been Residents in this secret agency since the jump to Galli. We wouldn't sense a change since it's an OOC agreed-upon reboot/redact. This allows us to break away from the old concept and start fresh with the toned-down version.

DESCRIBE CHARACTER APPEARANCE: Etzic, like most of the porcupine-like Skritarii has a prehensile, furred tail about as long as he was tail than the rest of him, a very ratlike head with small ears and a long snout with rather rodent-like teeth, and brownish grey fur. It has a slight speckled pattern to it, with patches of white fur over his left eye and down his chest to his heart. The white fur covers his left arm past his elbow and his left leg past his knee, with patches of speckled white over the rest of the two limbs. He has black quills along its head and down its back, much like a porcupine, making up what could be considered his ‘hair’. The quills are small and dense enough they can be styled somewhat like hair, and from a distance looks largely like normal hair. He also has smaller quills along his upper arms facing upward.

His eyes are much like a felines(large pupils when relaxed, narrowed when stressed), with blue-green sclera, with a lighter green iris and black pupils. Skritarii have dark colored skin under their fur, approaching black. Etzic has a dark ring of fur around his right eye like most of his species. Given the fur pattern on his left side, the ring is absent. Skritarii also have whiskers like many mammalian species too, but they are mostly vestigial in nature.

He’s short, around the smaller end of the spectrum for a teenage human: 5 feet. He’s fairly scrawny and lean muscled as well.

Like most skritarii, his arms are tattooed in a dark teal. A religious and cultural practice, the patterns are often flowing and geometric. This is accomplished on a furred being by shaving the limb as much as possible, then using a special dye to change the fur color for good. Skritarii are very short furred, so the patterns work well for them.

While he would normally wear more traditional skritarii clothes, his only outfight right now is a neutral huvidu-zani one made for something his size. Bland-colored and simple shirt and shorts, that he’s ripped up to not cover his arms at all. He’s painted patterns onto the white clothes: mystical, flowing lines that radiate and flow towards his heart and up to the tattoo patterns on his shoulders. A specific symbol, three dots in a triangle contained within a circle, is painted over his heart.

BIOGRAPHY (written in first person): You wish to know about I, Etzic? Strange, most non-skritar care naught for my people. Might as well, then…

Like most skritarii, I was born in a Warren, a type of space station our people make out of asteroids and other minor rocky celestial bodies. The rocks are strung together with engineering and metal and the wards of shamans to create habitats for us to reside in. The warren I was born to, Austan-ka, was one of the oldest warrens of our race, and far from our homeworld of Adarlea.

Before many of the newer nations were even taking their first steps in spaceflight our clans spread to the stars. We spread, settled across this arm of the galaxy but never claimed worlds in the name of empire. Adarlea was all we needed, but the stars still called for us. Warrens was our medium. The resources we needed, without needing to spoil other worlds. Of course, some skritarii settle on planets temporarily, but our cities are mostly in the starways now. Even Adarlea is largely left to its pristine state, save for the pilgrimages and the older cities.

Austan-ka was an old warren. One of the first and largest, with a population in the hundreds of millions. A whole network of asteroids woven together with rock and iron and concrete, practically making a planetoid of its own, within the asteroid belt of the Tzenc binary star system. Like most warrens, Austan-Ka was mostly self-sufficient. Adarlea is a rocky and arid world, and mostly desert. Skritarii learned long ago how to turn barren rock into fertile lands, and technology only helped our efforts in the stars. With gravitational fields and atmosphere, Austan-ka was an engineering marvel and a wonder of Orion, the human name for this part of the galactic disc.

I was born to the Whiskerbrew(Vahasa) clan, one of quite a sizable family. While skritarii may be rodent-like we only have one child at a time, save the occasional twins or more. The Vahasa kawa, our guardian spirit, is one of fertility and protection so it is encouraged to have many, many children. My clan has always been considered one of the most gregarious and adventurous clans of Adarlea, and Austan-ka was our creation. As it grew, other clans settled in nearby asteroids and efforts were made to link them up into a singular entity. Hundreds of years later, Austan-ka became the single largest settlement of skritarii outside of Adarlea.

Austan-ka was honestly a wonderful place to grow up. Even as a pup, running along the bridges between the asteroids of Austan-ka and visiting the other clans of Skritarii always was invigorating. While I was always curious about other cultures, skritarii are rarely accepted outside of our own little pockets of settlement and the roaming fleets so I never got to explore very far. Instead I explored Austan-ka, familiarizing myself with every bit of it. I was blessed to be living in such a wondrous satellite and wanted to see as much of it as I could.

As I entered my tenth year, I decided to become apprentice to one of the doctors of our clan to help keep our people healthy and safe. A noble profession of course. Only our shamans are considered more respectable and vital to the community. Our medical knowledge is a mix of modernity and proven ancient methods both of which the kawa, our ancestors and gods, support. The kawa ultimately had different plans for my life, it seemed.

It was two years into the medical training that I realized I was blessed in other ways than just living in a wondrous location. Most Skritarii have more brown or yellow eye-color, but a genetic quirk lead to the color shifting to what it is now as I aged. The white fur patches developed at the same time, starting from my left-side extremities and eye. The same quirks were commonly found among those destined to be shaman, so my path of becoming a medic was interrupted. I was pushed to become a shaman, to learn our culture and history and magic. The signs of changing fur and eye color meant I was touched by the kawa, and possessed a connection to the Otherworld and its power. The Otherworld leaks into our own through places of power and certain individuals, in the form of an energy we skritarii call whisps. It interacts with my people in a unique way, as I later discovered, causing the physical changes as our natural connection to the Otherworld deepens. The eldest shamans become pure white, and practically glow with energy!

The first few years of training is always about our history and culture, so my education was no different. While most of our people know the spirits well, the workings of the shaman are shrouded in mystery. They are chosen by the kawa and they desire for us shamans to be the protectors of their secrets and powers. The nature of their realm, the Otherworld, and their influence on the skritarii. All secret knowledge I was taught, and will pass on to the newer generations of shaman when I could. The dozen other skritarii from Austan-Ka training to be shamans at the same time would eventually do the same.

In my 18th year, the magical aspects of my education began. The knowledge shamans were not just the culture, history, and religion of pour people, but in the especially secret knowledge of the kawa, that of crafting magic into charms. The charms, made of our own quills and materials native to Adarlea, are imbued with the whisps of the kawa’s power to give us a fraction of their abilities. Long ago, Vaz himself gifted the Whiskerbrew clan with the knowledge of his own strength in the form of a charm. This ancient magic is the first one we learn.

Given the shamans of the skritarii are sworn to never maliciously use our powers lest the blessings of the kawa be recinded, our charms are only defensive. Such is the Skritarii Quills charm, one developed in antiquity counter any attacks. This was the second I learned. I was to learn more, but my education was sadly cut short.

Austan-Ka happened to be between two newer powers. Lykos and the Huv-zaani. Largely nomadic races like us Skritarii are rarely fully accepted by terrestrial bound ones. So many nasty stereotypes form. Pirates, thieves, shifty, or just plain savage. Of course, there are a few of our number who follow different ancestral kawa that enable these ideas, but most skritarii just want to live in peace and explore the stars. The Huv-Zaani were fine leaving us to our enclaves and territories, but of course Lykos was not.

A short time before I encountered Venlah and her mission, Lykos sent one of her fleets to Austan-Ka. The ancient warren was reduced to dust within the day. While it is lucky for our people that we have early warning systems in place of incursion, and such a large fleet was easy to see traveling through the Otherworld, the work of generations was torn asunder to flush us from the border region of their space. Millions perished but we escaped.
Many of us fled for Huv-zaani space or to find newer warrensites. The Whiskerbrew clan was shattered, though. The part of us I fled with stumbled upon a nearby Huv-zaani outpost observing some tribal planet. After a bit of time trying to negotiate for safe passage the Huv-zaani fired upon us and forced us to fight. The fleet was out of fuel. We had nowhere else to go and had to take the moon-station to survive.

Of course, it should be obvious that we failed. I was one of the few survivors of the monster that they unleashed on us… By accident I have been told. I do not blame the witch who created the beast. It was obviously some sort of creature summoned and set loose. But it still slaughtered my teacher and cut us off from finding a new home. On top of that I found myself trapped with some strange humans and a huv-zaani in the shuttle I hid in.

I was made to join them on this quest to ‘save the Xo’ or whatever bunkum the idealistic huv-zaan wants us to do. The Huv-zaani have always been paternalistic. They believe they know the best of most species. Though they do not slaughter like Lykos. Venlah may be able to spread word the Skritarii are under attack by Lykosian fleets, and get the Huv-zaani to ‘take us under their protection’ as they are oh so happy to do. It is insulting, but could help protect us from Lykosian aggression.

Until then, I might as well help these insects with the group we have. Then maybe actually have the chance to relax, after these months of chaos.


WHAT IS THE CHARACTER'S GREATEST STRENGTH AS AN INDIVIDUAL: His size and ancestral magic. Being a short creature he can fit into very small spaces. His clan’s protection charms, talismans, and wards are often naturally strong due to the ancestral deals with their kawa, Alkyn Vaz.

WHAT IS THE CHARACTER'S GREATEST FLAW: He’s not exactly very mentally stable after the ordeals he went through in his home universe before running into Venla’s team. He likely will need proper therapy and time to fully recover.

WHAT DOES IT DO/HOW IS IT APPLIED: Etzic knows how to defend himself the skritaran way, taking advantage of their dexterous tail, natural defenses, and sharp teeth/claws to fight. Skritaran Self defense is fairly brutal at times, and focused on ending conflict rapidly. They prefer non-lethally, however.
LIMITATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS: By skritaran custom and religion, most Skritarii do not instigate fights. They try their best to do anything else first, but will fight if necessary to preserve their own well being or that of others. Etzic, as a result, will rarely if ever use this without being provoked or attacked first.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITY: Skritarii Shaman and Religious education

HOW DID YOU ACQUIRE IT: Shamanistic Training, Exposure to the faith
WHAT DOES IT DO/HOW IS IT APPLIED:Kawa-na, the name for the traditional branch of skritarii belief, involves working with intermediary spirits and ancestor worship. The intermediary gods, the kawa, are servants of the Great Ancestor, Kawa-tang. Kawa-tang is considered above directly communicating with mortals, so pacts are made with his children and servants. Each clan has a patron kawa, which is their primary contact to the spirit world along with their many ancestors.

Skritarii shamanism is the result of pacts with the intermediary servant gods, the kawa, of the Great Ancestor. The folk religion of most of the skritarii, with several offshoots including one revering their traditional adversary spirit of Kawa-nand. The latter diabolical cult is followed by much of skritarii pirates, and promotes viciousness, greed, individualism, and aggression. The normal beliefs promote a philosophy of self-defense and non-aggression, focusing on familial ties and good works.

Most of the pact of each clan is an automatic thing. Following the lifestyle set forth by each individual kawa will satisfy the kawa and ensure his continued magical protection, and the success of their shamans. For them, shamans are part teacher, healer, and priest. They often head up the skritarii clans as they grow older.

The kawa of Etzic’s clan, Alkyn Vaz, is specifically a very defensive kawa. His pact with the Whiskerbrew clan involves a very specific moral code. Some of the main tenants are to do no first harm, honor the ancestors and renew the pacts every generation, and while encouraged to not land the first the Whiskerbrew are told to fight like demons when needed.
LIMITATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS: This is the knowledge base for Etzic's magic and religion, and the only limitations are what he wasn't taught before his education was interrupted. This is restricted tojust knowledge of Skritaran application of etheric magics, as well.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITY: Skritari shamanistic Charms/Tokens/Fetishes Creation (Material aspect)

HOW DID YOU ACQUIRE IT: Shamanistic Training
WHAT DOES IT DO/HOW IS IT APPLIED: When creating a charm, a skritarii sacrifices a piece of themselves, a quill pulled from their mane or arms. Combined with various organic and mineral materials, a charm can be made. The charm is also made using ancestral deals with the kawa, especially the skritarii patrons, to borrow their knowledge to create such magics.
LIMITATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS: If he lacks materials, he can't make more charms. Any charms outside of his knowledge he won't be able to make, and he will need to research the charms and deals made regarding their use to apply them. Same restrictions as Etheric Magic Manipulation.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITY: Skritaran ship navigation

HOW DID YOU ACQUIRE IT: Practice, hobby
WHAT DOES IT DO/HOW IS IT APPLIED: Etzic knows how to fly a ship, mostly those in the Skritaran style and of Skritaran make. Should help him with flying a spaceship in general, unless the controls are too different. He didn't get too much practice, so he's not much more than an average spaceship pilot.
LIMITATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS: The more alien the ship, the less useful this is.

CHARACTERISTIC/ABILITY: Etheric Magic / Etheric Energy Manipulation
POWER LEVEL: 4
WHAT DOES IT DO: Similar to force sensitivity, a connection to the ether allows Etzic to at least moderately perceive a parallel plane made of a unique energy that intersects with the material plane(his home). This ability lets him draw a small amount of ether to perform his magic. The Skritarii know this as the Otherworld, and call the energy whisp. Drawing too much can burn out the connection temporarily and lead to his Ether senses dulling. Unlike the force, the Ether does not connect to all life. The Ether is where divinities dwell in his dimension, along with the afterlife for some religions. Etzic cannot directly talk to anything in the Ether, nor travel to it. He simply acts as a conduit for some of the power leaking out of the Ether into his own world. He can pool up energy in preparation, but often unused etheric potential energy will fizzle out. Skritarii are subject to religious prohibitions and rules on use of etheric energy, as well. Those with Etheric connections are born with the ability usually, but some cases exist where a being of the Ether artificially created a bridge in someone. These bridges are weaker than naturals usually, but training makes all the difference.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: Constantly
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: Etheric magic often can counteract itself, and most magic/divine negating methods would nullify it.
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: Skritaran applications of etheric magic have a material cost, usually a piece of themselves put into the charms. Use of Etheric magic draws from the user's connection to the Ether, which tires the user mentally and physically over time.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: Skritaran Magic is primarily performed through blessed charms and fetishes. These are governed by religious rules and ancestral agreements that the average user should be aware of but doesn't need to reinforce themselves unless extenuating circumstances decide otherwise. Violation of these rules and misuse of charms can anger the ancestors and Kawa who can cut off access to his magic either temporarily or permanently. He would need to return to his home universe to properly commune with them in this case to get some sort of "forgiveness" in the form of a quest to prove he's learned from his mistakes.

CHARACTERISTIC/ABILITY: Etheric Perception
POWER LEVEL: 4
WHAT DOES IT DO: He can either see, smell, or otherwise perceive the full effects of the uses of etheric magic, leaks of ether energy into the world, or other Etheric conduits. With his species’ sensitive sense of smell most often smelling is the way he perceives this magic, or a tingling in the back of his mind. He can often detect just what the use of the magic was, such as etheric magic used to generate fire, water, or wind. He isn’t skilled enough to detect the specifics, just the elements.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: Always using this ability as a sixth sense, can focus on a certain etheric sense for more accuracy.

It also lets you do sweet tricks like flips and free running. BIOGRAPHY:


Des was conscripted into the army at age 27 from his mundane engineering job, as a large international conflict began to ramp up. By the time he was 29 and the year was 2060, he was hard at work in the repair shop of a small Forward Operating Base on the edge of a conflict region. A turning point in his life occurred on a day that began like many others - he'd been hard at work repairing an infantry transport vehicle suffering from power issues, and was about ready to close it up and run through the usual checklists when it's squad entered the shop. They were scheduled for patrol, and the alternate vehicle they'd been assigned was an ancient piece of scrap with less protection, and more importantly, no A/C, so if they could get their normal vehicle back ASAP, well...that'd be great. Confident in his work, Des skipped the normal checkout protocols, and turned over the vehicle to the squad. 100 meters out of the shop, the fuel cell blew violently. He rushed to the scene, and was able to pry open the shell of the vehicle thanks to the standard-issue mechanic's strength-enhancing exoskeleton and drag two of the squad members out, suffering severe burns on his forearms in the process. On his way back in for another, the FOB's communications tower (weakened by the blast) fell and crushed the lower half of his body. The exoskeleton saved him from being ground beef from the chest down, but he still broke both legs in multiple places, several ribs, and his back. The three survivors of the incident were airlifted out, but one died in the air and another never awoke from a medically induced coma, leaving Desmond as the sole survivor. Just a day later, the entire FOB is destroyed in a surprise attack, unable to summon backup rapidly without its communications tower, taking any records of his repair work along with it. As the army and the families of the squad members thank him and name him a hero for risking his life to save those inside the vehicle, Desmond is crippled inside by perpetual doubt. Did he make a mistake in the repair? Would the checks have caught it? He's sure that he missed something in his work, that the explosion was his fault, and that the blood of everyone else in the FOB is on his hands. Despite receiving advanced medical care, Des is left with chronic physical pain, on top of his self-blame, and feels lost in life.

In search of something, anything to distract him, he sets out on a new adventure. Nearly a decade of rehab, enduring pain, being toted around as a war hero, and general misery has passed, and it's the golden age of Mars colonization. In the year 2070, Desmond erases his old life, changes his name, lies about his medical issues, and buys a spot on board the next colony transport to the Red Planet. There, he lives a hard life, but a busy one, servicing everything from suits to stations. The reduced gravity proves a miracle for his scarred bones, and the constant flow of challenging work distracts him from the ghosts of his past. They are but buried though, not dead, and the others in the bunk room hear him churning in his sleep, as old memories refuse to let him rest at ease. No one dares rush his work, for the mild-manned and quiet being is known to fly into a rage if the suggestion he cut even a single corner is made within earshot. Desmond insists on being entirely meticulous with his work, eternally aware that lives are always on the line, and the smallest mistake could cost more of them.

Our story begins as Desmond is transiting between bases. The North Rim Outpost blew it's secondary generator again, and needs someone to kick it back into gear immediately, before its samples melt and become useless. Des sets out despite less-than-positive weather predictions, and becomes stuck in what will eventually be known as the worst sandstorm since man set foot on Mars. Unable to move, unable to communicate, and with no one able to go look for him, he knows that death is coming as the CO2 meter inside the rover slowly ticks towards red...

A fairly spartan room. Simple bed, with a footlocker. Small bookshelf, mostly to display his idle carvings on. Small workbench for said carving. It's about equivalent to the room one of the fancy scientists at the colony would have had, which he always envied a bit as a common laborer - still basic, but a few steps above the bare necessities, and better than a bunkroom.

DESCRIBE CHARACTER APPEARANCE: The mammalian part is reminiscent of something mixing a bear and otter, with large, triangular pointed ears that come from the sides of her head. A short and expressive snout with a purple tinted nose, and bright inquisitive eyes. The fur is brown, thick and slightly oily, obviously built for an oceanic or marine environment rather than an existence solely on land. She stands about 8.5 feet tall, though most of the length is her body rather than limbs much like an otter, and despite the size she still seems sleek and is obviously a strong swimmer and able to lift quite a heavy load of needed. Her hands and paws are built for swimming, webbed but with wicked claws meant for rending flesh. Her teeth are that of an omnivore, with forward sharp teeth and more hidden grinding ones.

The most distinctive feature that would set her apart from simply being a giant alien bear/otter is the fungal look to what seems like an infestation, but at the same time normal. It is especially thick over the left side of her head and down her neck then shoulders, though most of the ‘infestation’ was hidden internally. The whole thing had a slight purple glow and coloration to it, even tinting her fur a slight purple due to its prevalence over her form. Tendrils of the fungal substance are able to come from her form through some natural way, and able to deftly manipulate things her normal limbs simply would be unable to reach or use. They aren’t nearly as strong and can be broken off, though it would hurt Venla and it would take a while to regrow the lost matter.

Like most her species she wears little clothing, only a loose sort of tunic to let her fur and fungal tendrils breath, as she like most her species would overheat easily in much more than that.

BIOGRAPHY (written in first person): The Huvidu-Zaan, my species,were born on a watery world in the outer rim of their galaxy, far from the rise and fall of stellar empires. Sometime a million years before the rise of the Huvidu-Zaan Stellar Collective, some sort of disaster ended up reducing these powers to remnants along the edges of the galaxy, with new races slowly taking up the mantle as they reached for the stars. We figured this out much later on mind you, only in the last few decades. It was from our homeworld, an oceanic planet we named Huv that we arose as a species arose, and eventually myself. The surface of our planet being mostly free of large forms of life and predators, the planet would to most be considered a paradise. It is largely covered in water with only archipelagos forming the landmass of the world, leading most life to be aquatic or amphibious in nature.

A Huvidu-Zaan is a composite being, as you can see from myself, made up of a mammalian host body (termed the Huv), and a fungal symbiote (the Zaan). Separately, both are moderately intelligent, though not sapient organisms. Together though, their intelligence commingle and create a singular sapient individual. This is partially a result of countless years of evolution on our watery homeworld, and the fact their physiologies have become so closely linked that the two pieceseven share a reproductive cycle, each Huv born with a Zaan already growing and spreading through its host. It’s a symbiotic relationship, with two uniting into one individual. Huv are strong and long lived hosts (Many last into two centuries of life going by Solar years), and Zaan dexterous and protective of their bodies. A Zaan’s tendril may be severed by the core is housed within the brain of a Huv. Indeed, we never even realized they were born of the union of two organisms until we reached our industrial age and began unlocking the secrets of our planet.

Huv are strong, fast, and resilient by themselves, and long lived. Their exposure to Zaan created a longer lifespan and nursed their intelligence to bloom. They do the manual labor of the Huvidu-Zaan, the fungal tendrils not strong enough to lift the heavy things required for industry and logistics. Since they are the more mortal part of the body, most of the intelligence ends up being housed in the Zaan as they age, as well.

Zaan can, however, outlive their hosts. As the Huv body begins to decay and wither the consciousness slowly is transferred entirely to the Zaan. The downside of course is that they lose their mobility and strength. we Huvidu-zaan have taken to using these leftover fungal tissues to construct biotic computers and systems which we can interface with directly. Most are happy for this continued usefulness. Most of our colonies have a large mass of central Zaan working as one unit (usually with a single dominant personality), acting as colonial administrators. Huvidu-Zaan colonies as a result are usually named after the Zaan running the systems of the colony,

I myself was born in one of the colonies. A planet named Cenar's Home in the Wyltshr system, an oceanic world much like our homeworld, but much smaller. It was a blessed enough life, in this colony on the border of United Council and Huvidu-zaani space. In fact, Cenar's Home housed the largest human population in the sector, due to the landmasses being well suited for their habitation.

Humans are... Strange to us Huvidu-zaan. I learned that early on, actually. It wasn't hard to miss the varied cultures and peoples of humanity, even in this era. Many of their ancient peoples, such as the people of Judah, still retain their ancient cultures, though altered with time. Even the Diaspora couldn't destroy humanity's cultural diversity.

Compare this to my own people, who due to the wars of unification ended up with a nearly monolithic culture in an attempt to smash all resistance and destabilizing influences such as superstition and faith. Even now, hundreds of years after our contact with humans and subsequent cooling of the government, we still only have colonial variations of that single culture. The study of our own culture is... rather boring, honestly. At least.

My exposure to such varied culture lead to my interest in exploring the galaxy and recording all I could about the different cultures residing in it. A very fulfilling field of study actually! I picked up Human Basic during my youth as well. Its a strange language, so I am glad I learned that early in life.

My higher education started in my mid 20s, at the end of my general education, as it does for most races. At first, I went into a basic science, without much direction. Astronomy I think. Useful for the modern era but never truly caught my attention. Before the year was out though, I switched to linguistics, to put my skill at language to further use. Eventually that just became my minor, and I switched to a major of Xenology. A pretty easy switch to make honestly. I started working in liguistics and xenology before I even earned by degree, but wished for further experience in the field. Never liked as much of the deskwork. I've always been one for action myself. I applied to various jobs in the wildspace regions of the galaxy, where our nation has been establishing colonies and studying locals. I ended up being assigned to the planet Xo'Lok to study its chitinous natives, the xo. Strange creatures, overall.

When I first arrived, we had been attempting to broker deals with the Xo for them to be brought under our tutelage, and advance their technology to our standard. Many refused, but some of the locals agreed to have HZ bases in their capitols for them to be studied. Something changed over the few years I had been there though, and some of them were becoming more... aggressive and militant, with strangely advanced weapons we did not provide them. I mounted a mission to the surface, but something went wrong and the shuttle crashed.

Then I woke up on Gallimaufry, and the rest is history.

WHAT IS THE CHARACTER'S GREATEST STRENGTH AS AN INDIVIDUAL: Intelligence and size. Venla is a rather massive creature, making her dangerous in any sort of fight. But besides that she's smart and quick-witted. She's able to pick up on new things rapidly and think quickly.

WHAT IS THE CHARACTER'S GREATEST FLAW: Venla is a very action oriented person. She always desires to be doing something and gets stir crazy if she doesn't get the opportunity. She'll get antsy and uncomfortable when unable to do asshe wishes.

WHAT DOES IT DO: Zaan wraps around injured parts of the huvidu-zaan body and secretes unique compounds that allow it to rapidly regenerate the body and heal the host. This isn't as much supernatural as a biological reaction unique to the huvidu-zaan's symbiosis. This can rebuild most parts of the body, save the brain and some vital organs if totally destroyed.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: Whenever injured, unconscious reaction.
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: Death, bodily destruction, cauterization
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: uses energy and fatigues the huvidu-zaan, often they have to sleep for this to happen.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: slow and time consuming. It takes a long time to regenerate tissue to this degree, including parts of limbs. If cauterized, the wounds will be healed but not regenerated. Almost impossible during combat due to exposure of wounds and activeness of the body.

Is it still banned if she's less than half fairy and the fact that she is is kind of a serious problem? Like, nearly halves what her capable power should be kind of problem?
I suppose i could just figure a different way to work that, but no harm in asking right?

Fae specifically are run by Min, so you'd have to consult with him before making such a character assuming it would be accepted. While I doubt Cer would accept a character that is partially a banned species, you would have to be more specific about your idea to get a definitive answer.

So instead of being significantly stronger if the two worked together, she's significantly weaker.

Spells exist to circumvent that, all of which are very dangerous, very high level dark magic, the use of such a spell from time to time in her work, would cause her greatest weakness.

That, i guess, would be the shorthand.

Irrelevant, you don't really get to have "different canon" of the same thing here. Not without working it out with the other person anyway. We've turned down more modernized concepts of fairies before due to the preexistence of the Fae.

It's usually not an issue, because the operation that caused is supposed to leave them at less than 0.03% of a Fairy, the idea is to increase lifespan with it. The issue is that the reason we've banned a list of certain species is because of over-powered characters. Her "significantly weaker" might still be considered too powerful. You would have to tell us exactly what her powers are and how they would rank on our points system, not just tell us that they're considered weak.

The issue is that the reason we've banned a list of certain species is because of over-powered characters. Her "significantly weaker" might still be considered too powerful. You would have to tell us exactly what her powers are and how they would rank on our points system, not just tell us that they're considered weak.

Absolute maximum of 8, though in reality anything on the scale from 6-8 is on a timeclock for safety (15-20 minutes) max if you want to be in OK health still, 25-30 (or overuse) if you don't mind either dying, going insane, or burning all magical ability permanently, due to the dark magic that must be used to achieve this. Normal operation is round a bout a 4.
So, if they worked together, she'd be about a 7 or 8 all the time, as opposed to a 4 99% of the time and a 6-8 for 10 minutes sometimes. Normal, everyday, is a 4 though. It may also be possible, if acceptable, to increase the natural everyday to 5, or at most to 6, but 7-8 will always be a dangerous timeclock affair.

Most spells are based either on weapons or physical enhancement, attached to and working with a weapon, as she isn't actually able to hit harder than the weapon without risking severe injury or death. Like, making a sword a lightning sword by channeling that magic through the blade, or using it to drastically increase parameters like strength, speed and durability.

Unarmed spells exist but are rarely used, her weapons are specifically designed for the things she fights and are far more capable than any unarmed spell. At this point you're looking at Ether shots (magic energy bolts, basically) and ether whips, as one half of her species derives all its magic from ether manipulation on varying levels based on person. The most common unarmed spell would be using Ether Manipulation to create an actual weapon (Like, an ether spear) to channel an element through.

And as you might have guessed by the weapon being stronger than she is, yes, they're magical weapons. A spear which would be around 5 on the scale, a dagger which would only be a 2, and sword that would be a 7, with the spear most commonly used. The spear is meant to slay dragons, the dagger is the catalyst for her dark magic that ups the ante to 7 or 8, and the sword is meant to kill angels/demons and maybe even a god, depending on the god, and you not dying and getting to actually stab them.

Her job, as might be guessed, is indeed to kill things like angels, demons and dragons and other things on orders of the government. It's actually not too dissimilar to going through Gates in PL, her home civilization is an FT/FFT Empire who uses her unit to do anything from work in a lab (as the researcher or the project) and also try to quietly dispatch rogue elements causing issues in the domain, which means going to lots of planets, and lots of tech levels, as they aren't all the same.


Hopefully i'm not wasting your time with this. I do swear i read it all, it's alot of information, and i hope i'm at least mostly getting it.

DESCRIBE CHARACTER APPEARANCE: Maghrl is a squib, a species of short, furred hagglers from the outer rim who specialize in scrap and salvage, their natural inclination and skill being to discover valuable things in what others see as junk. Their fur helps this, being extra sensitive and even able to discern detail from their environment by rubbing against it. Maghrl himself has vibrant purple fur and bright blue eyes, that are always inquisitive and curious. He's just over a meter tall, meaning he'd only be about stomach height to most humans. His ears are large, and swivel to keep track of sounds almost constantly. While its hard to see, he does have a small tail, curled similar to a shiba inu and similarly fluffy. His clothing is obvious Jedi robes and tunic, though his have been added to and modified to include a myriad of pockets, bags, pouches, and et cetera. His habit of collecting means he wants as much space on his person as possible to carry objects. Besides that his belt always has his two lightsabers, along with various tools so if he finds something he wants to tinker with he always can.

[Condensed from some voice journal entries of Maghrl, the Squib Jedi Knight, and translated from Squibban to Basic]

Since arriving on this planet... Gallimaufry I believe it was called? I felt I should start writing or otherwise recording stuff about myself. This old datapad’s voice recorder should be enough. It’s been a strange time already and in case I disappear again I’d rather have more records of myself than fewer. Feel I existed a bit more, yes?

I don’t know much about Gallimaufry yet, but it seems a strange place with a propensity to shift and change often. The Force doesn’t have as much of a hold here, but most things seem to still have connection to it. Some don’t though, which is disconcerting at best. Reminds me of what it felt like to meet the Vong...

Anyway, should probably get on myself a bit more. A journal about myself, and I’ve spent more time recording what’s happening than my own past! Upbringing first, eh?

Same as most Squib: Born on Skorr, raised near rubbish pits and scavenged for parts most of my early life to help parents. Fun stuff! Got lots of koovy shinies and neat stuff from all over the galaxy near the Capitol!

Different: Found a Khyber crystal and a broken lightsaber once, koovy as the void, ended up being prophetic.

This was about the newly separated and independent Jedi were looking for new recruits. Luke himself went wandering the galaxy letting the Force lead him to where it wanted. Lead him to Skorr, oddly enough, and he found me. I was about Ten then, I believe. Little thing by most squib standards. Didn’t hit my growth spurt until much later.

Oh, by the void I’m remembering how silly a little pup I was! [while laughing] Literally ran at him practically brandishing the broken lightsaber and demanding to be mad a Jedi. How lucky I was that the one thing that made that work was that I actually was force sensitive all that time!

So, years and years down the road, my wanderings as part of my more practical education brought me to the temple. I was somewhere around twenty at the time. Been a jedi ten years by that point, thought I was kinda hot shit... Hell, who am I kidding, I definitely am pretty damn koovy, the only known Squib Jedi! Anyway, as I was saying (By the void why did I decide to vo-cord this?) I ended up searching through the ruins of the Jedi Temple on. Oh, not the one on Coruscant, I should mention. The Vong wiped out any remains of that one looong ago. No, this was on... Tython? No Ossus. No! Tython it was yeah. Ossus was one of the Academies!

Anyway, the buildings on Ossus are crazy ancient. Dozens of millennia old. Thousands upon thousands of years. Found some choice ancient scrap that I brought back for study but one of the most interesting things I found was... an ancient lightsaber. It wasn’t incredibly old. I later dated it to the Sith wars against the First Empire. The one ruled by the Sith Emperor... Again, I should specify: No not Sidious, the older one that few people remember the name of. From about three thousand or so years ago.

.... Okay yeah that’s a long time ago. Either way, because of the materials of the lightsaber and a bit of intervention from the force, it was utterly preserved! When I picked it up I had a sort of spiritual journey through the past. I got to see the previous owner, who had perished in the same conflict against that Empire during an attack on the planet by the Sith. They were in the midst of abandoning the temple complex at the time, so she was never properly put to rest.

After a nice chat, and locating the little remains that... well remained, I put her to rest and agreed to take up her saber in defense of the force and good. So, I still have it. I keep it well maintained and looked after, even though by now her ghost has returned to the Force. It’s just... important to me.

So… What’s left to talk about? I’m pretty caught up with what’s happened in my life! Not everything of course, but the interesting and important parts. Kashyyyk, Dac…. Oh! Yeah, I was on Nar Shaddaa when I was transported to this world. I can’t quite remember the details, but something involving some alcohol, cards, and maybe a tiiiny bit of cheating ended with me being confronted on the landing pad my ship was parked on. Next thing I know, I was waking up in the lobby of the building and finding out I had been summoned, and deities are indeed real! For a lifelong non-believer, that was a bit of an interesting thing to accept, but I suppose if the Force exists, so could gods.

... I wonder if my ship’s been impounded by now. Probably has. Maybe I should ask if we could go recover it...

Their small, unassuming appearance belies wit and cunning, and as such attempting to trick and outwit squib is an iffy thing at best. Maghrl knows his way around Squib abilities, but its been years since he's truly been a merchant and scavenger. He does the occasional stint with his friends, but he's no expert, just pretty dang good.
LIMITATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS: Language barriers, and people generally not predisposed to agreeing and diplomacy.

WHAT DOES IT DO/HOW IS IT APPLIED: Swish swish, I gotta plasma sword. Maghrl knows how to wield and use Lightsabers with a pretty high level of proficiency. He specializes in Ataru, the form of lightsaber combat that involves high agility and jumping around like a voiddamned monkey. Maghrl also knows a bit of Jar'Kai, the practice of using two lightsabers in tandem.
LIMITATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS: Without lightsabers, this training isn't hugely useful. Blades can be applicable, but don't have the same utility as lightsabers.

The New Order Jedi don't have it quite down to the science the old order did, but their training is still quality, and their jedi are taught to be innovative and quick witted rather than stiff and tame. New Order Jedi as a result are a bit more of a mixed bag but generally are fairly disciplined and specialized towards one set of powers or another. Maghrl is a strong telekinetic for example, and his squibbish nature has lead to him being skilled with persuasion and reading the qualities of items and the force itself.
LIMITATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS: Gotta learn more to do more, but the force has much less rules than many types of ability. Its simply dangerous to use abilities without having practiced them, and dark side tends to corrupt.

WHAT DOES IT DO: The Force. In some areas its stronger, others weaker, but is a force present in the background of most living things. However, he does have his own natural store of energy to draw upon, and acts as a conduit for the force. Doing anything outside of his normal set of powers is incredibly strenuous on his body and could kill him, or doing anything for too long or too intensive. Another aspect of this is that he primarily is a light side user of the force, going with the flow rather than forcing it. Should he try to force things too much, he's susceptible to corruption from the dark side, which has a decaying affect on bodies.

Force sensitivity comes in many forms, but it commonly includes startling luck, rapid skill development especially in ones that involve high levels of agility and precision, minor levels of precognition and higher levels of empathy(traditional and force based). Vague and hard to understand without proper training. Dreams are of a similar nature, vague and difficult to interpret. Meaning is derived by the person and thus potentially unreliable. Focused attempts take time and effort to read into the shifting future.

WHAT DOES IT DO: Can trick weak willed individuals into believing what he wants to be true, is actually true. This ranges from the users identity, if they even existed, to the loyalty of the one being tricked. Useful and can be used to improve his persuasion by using application of the force. The more believable and minor the lie, the easier it is to convince the target.

WHAT IS THE CHARACTER'S GREATEST STRENGTH AS AN INDIVIDUAL: Incredible ability to stay calm in most any situation, even when in open combat against opponents with greater strength, allowing her the chance to outmatch it with clever tricks and skill.

WHAT IS THE CHARACTER'S GREATEST FLAW: Despite the above, Lyras is still... lacking, in firepower. She does know offensive magic, though, none of it is strong enough to keep up with her job requirements. Most of her hitting strength comes from the relics and enchanted equipment she's collected, and losing it takes her from showing up dragons, angels, and demons with clever tricks and timing to... hiding and quietly gathering information before bolting.


O B J E C T I V E S

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: Become a Knight, more precisely, a GrandMaster. Despite her training, it's noteworthy, that while she spent 12 years in a prestigious squire training school, and even qualified at age 14 for advanced magic tutorship, she was never actually adopted into a Knight order, and eventually set out on her own. The mentality of the Knights and Paladins has, for many years, been an opinion of brute and incredible strength, to them, the tricks of observation, strategy and cunning employed by Lyras, and anyone who simply never could scream at the top of their lungs and make a city square explode with fire, was not seen as strength, no matter the foe dropped by those tricks. Leaving after such a long time, a disappointment to her family, and - it seems - the world, she hopes to force her way in somehow, reach the top, and forever destroy that notion that strength is only the muscle in your arms.

SECONDARY OBJECTIVE: Relic collecting. Oh yes, you know those pesky adventurers. Them and their relics. She seeks them out just like any other, and then pursues to investigate the hell out of 'em, strip away their mystery and master every detail, be they weapon or no.

SECONDARY OBJECTIVE: To find something, anyone, with a greater mastery of her arts. The clever mimicry, observation, and enhancements she uses are not commonplace mastery's at home, which leads to her never really being able to go to the top level. Be it a person or a book, anything which might be able to push the boundary further.

WHAT DOES IT DO/HOW IS IT APPLIED: You know the Sherlock Holmes movies? Pretty close to that, uses obscenely keen skills of observation and deduction to pull off what might, at first to some, appear to be full on legit future sight. It's not, there's no magic involved, but it helps when using spells meant to predict and analyze.
LIMITATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS: Requires clean bill of mental health

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITY: Ether Manipulation
POINTS SPENT: 0, Her species is naturally atuned
HOW DID YOU ACQUIRE IT: Birth
WHAT DOES IT DO/HOW IS IT APPLIED: Allows manipulation of Ether, which on Kollin is how her species derives all of it's magic. One can learn any kind of magic derived from it to as great a length as they wish, in theory, with certain limits. Ether manipulation is, indeed too, the basis from which Lyras' Mirages and Perfect Vision are derived. Ether Manipulation leads to Magic Energy Manipulation to everything else.
LIMITATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS: Just because you can learn to use lightning doesn't mean you can master it to the point of giant thunderbolts. While all of her species can manipulate Ether to some extent and therefore have some extent of magic, that power is still very rare. Whether or not you're capable is determined at birth, where a set limit of how much energy you can contain at once is established, and once you have trained to reach it, your power can go only as far as it allows.

CHARACTERISTIC/ABILITY: Lightning
POWER LEVEL: 3
WHAT DOES IT DO: Not what you think. Lightning is a power enhancement ability, which can be low key long term, or high key short term. The latter is extremely potent, very high level, and dangerous, involving taking 70% or more of her remaining magic energy, as well as dumping adrenal signals into the body (It's like flight or flight on steroids, i guess),and dumping it into the next 3 minutes of time at max. The result of this will double all physical parameters, from strength, to the speed at which your brain can analyze and process, and allows for selectivity on what gets enhanced.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: Depending on intensity, low intensity can be used quite extensively for simple things like that extra mile or two to the next village, and even helps build lasting natural strength. Max intensity is very much a one shot better end it kind of deal, and will require alot of rest.
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: Being adequately strong (general sense) physically will usually do it
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: Usually a gentle taxation between mental, magical, and physical strain. Going all out leaves her completely exhausted in every regard.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: Lightning doubles current physical attributes. If, for come reason, the speed enchanted boots are missing, only her mundane speed is doubled. If, however, her durability and endurance enhancing chest piece is present, it doubles her natural + the added from the relic. As such, losing any of these fancy toys is quite damaging in itself.

CHARACTERISTIC/ABILITY: Blade Steal
POWER LEVEL: 3
WHAT DOES IT DO: Uses Lyras incredible deductive and observational ability to not just copy an opponents fighting style, but master it, every strength, and every weakness, and even use it against them in the same fight.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: Almost constantly
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: Being as utterly unpredictable as possible, even then, there's a certain method to all madness.
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: Mentally it can be quite straining, though after so many years of using it, seeing her looking tired from Stealing your Blade means she woke up with a migraine anyway, or is low on magic and can't spare the minor taxation.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: Must be able to see the enemy, one way or another.

CHARACTERISTIC/ABILITY: Pulse
POWER LEVEL: 2
WHAT DOES IT DO: Increases hearing and sight, of course. Like, if she pays even a little attention to you, she could tell you your pulse from sound alone, even being several feet away. You know how the human eye can spot a candelight from miles away? She could tell you how the big window it's in is.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: Always, it operates just like the normal sense, but better. It's borderline an epic tier gene mutation.
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: Being both invisible and 100% quiet. Or an ample distance away, that also works. Or really loud noises. Also sand, in the eyes, ow.
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: Food, a good night's rest for optimal condition. Not much else.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: Being in a place where this is light or air.

SPELL/FORCE ABILITY: Perfect Vision
POWER LEVEL: 4
WHAT DOES IT DO: Combines all senses + magic, and turns Lyras into the living magical version of... anything with really advanced detection equipment. REALLY advanced. When combined with Steal Blade and the 'Clairvoyance', escaping her detection is a tall order for just about anything, save the most upper tiered supernatural beings. At this level, Lyras senses are turned up so high, she can see and hear movements, and process them at a rate fast enough to act and counter. Disabling any sense at this point is useless, and will only strengthen the others. Remember that candelight from before? Now she can tell you the exact size of the candle, the size of the flame, and the kind of shirt the man inside doing dishes is wearing.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: In most scenarios if she wanted
WHAT COMPONENTS DOES IT NEED: A conscious Lyras with at least 1 functioning sense and magical power left
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: Being ridiculously fast, is a pretty good one. Those with excellent emotional and mental control can blur or even outright deny sensing their emotions.Being far away, again, is a good one too.
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: Mental and physical exhaustion, mostly due to magic use.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: At least 1 intact sense. Targets must be within a certain range to be heard or seen, no matter how insane that range may be at this point.

SPELL/FORCE ABILITY: Elemental Acolyte
POWER LEVEL: 2
WHAT DOES IT DO: Control of a variety of elements at moderate levels, nothing particularly impressive. Used to enhance weapons, mostly.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: Pretty regular everyday use, strong enough for using wind to grab your coat or your sword, weak enough that you won't notice it too much for too long.
WHAT COMPONENTS DOES IT NEED: Conscious Lyras with magic power
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: Opposite elements. Water beats fire, ice beats water, lightning beats... er... everything, kind of. It's not very strong anyway.
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: Mental and Physical strain due to magic use, though rarely anything severe.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: Environment must be friendly to the element. Trying to use fire underwater is obviously just not going to work and lightning down there will suck for everyone.

SPELL/FORCE ABILITY: Mirage
POWER LEVEL: 4
WHAT DOES IT DO: Creates convincing illusions which can move, distract, and if enough effort is put in, even talk and possibly be mistaken for an actual person. Or an actual environment, for that matter.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: At max level, not very often, practicing it more than 2-3 times a day for short periods of a few minutes is tiring.
WHAT COMPONENTS DOES IT NEED: Same as the others, conscious Lyras with magic power!
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: Depending on the quality, simply not being an idiot may be enough. Or you might need to be more towards Lyras' level on the observation scale, if she's hid off in a bush putting her all into it.
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: Definitely the most taxing of her spells, creating convincing illusions, no matter what that may mean in the scenario, is going to drain her faster than anything else.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: Lyras MUST be able to envision mentally her illusion. For scenes this is easy, but for people, this means Lyras can only create illusions of people she's seen and faces she remembers.

ITEM: Elucidator
SPELL/ABILITY: Light Manipulation / Dexterity & Strength Enhancement
POWER LEVEL: 4
WHAT DOES IT DO: Elucidator, from the word Elucidate, meaning to 'Make clear'. It is specifically an ancient sword meant to kill all manner of things, but specifically angels and demons. It does by bending light, be it light, dark, or silver combining with any applicable spell channeled through the caster, and then using a logic not at all unlike clashing matter and anti matter to slay it's target. Light goes to Dark, Dark to Light, and Silver to Silver. Angels are usually light, demons dark, and the dragons of Kollin for example, would be Silver, though anyone can be any of the 3, or possibly neither.

Elucidator also carries a spell it in to increase the wielder's strength and dexterity quite notably, as its original intent was to wielded by normal mortals like Lyras, to fight aforementioned angels, every bit counts. (+30% to dexterity and strength at the time of spell activation, meaning holding it and instigating a minor magical jolt)
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: Constantly, it is a magic sword with the magic embedded in it.
WHAT COMPONENTS DOES IT NEED: Itself, and someone with the strength to wield it. Which isn't that much, it's a Bastard Sword.
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: Swords, shields, the normal stuff. If one can somehow destroy all light that might do... something? Nobody ever has, and its unclear if the sword at that point breaks, becomes a normal sword, or physically prevents light from being destroyed by it's presence.
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: Almost purely physical, though if she channels an element or another property into it, it will tax her magic reserves and mental stress as well on account of magic.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: Range, certain materials are either difficult or impossible to cut through, mostly stuff a normal sword would run into, like needing to remember to take it when you leave home.


ITEM: Void
SPELL/ABILITY: Anti Magic / Durability & Endurance Enhancement
POWER LEVEL: 3
WHAT DOES IT DO: Void is a shield, whose specialized purpose is to dispel magic ontop of dealing with arrows, spears and etc, and also provides the carrier with a notable boost to the damage they can take, and is activated the same way as Elucidator's special enhancements. (+25% to Durability and Endurance)
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: Like Elucidator, it's considered a relic, it's magic and power is contained internally of itself, meaning as often as needed.
WHAT COMPONENTS DOES IT NEED: Itself
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: Powerful enough magic will overwhelm it's dispelling ability, changing it instead to a weakening spell which guts as much power from the attack as it can. Like Elucidator, Lyras can channel other magic through it in this instance to try and make up for it.
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: Almost purely physical, Void is a nice middle ground between a large buckler and a Viking round shield, it's not exactly the lightest thing ever.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: Gotta have it with you, and it's gotta be pointed at the enemy. Magic shield does not mean magically blocking behind your back when it's infront of you.


ITEM: Gale
SPELL/ABILITY: Wind / Speed, Endurance and Dexterity Enhancement
POWER LEVEL: 1
WHAT DOES IT DO: Gale is a set of boots, also with its magic power embedded within it. It uses the power of wind to make the wearer feel a bit lighter, while also making sure the wind is always at their back to keep them fast, making her run faster and her reactions move quicker. It also helps regulate breathing, somewhat oddly, combined with the lightweight feeling and speed boost, it gives Gale a bit of an unintended bonus to endurance as well. (+18% Speed, Endurance and Dexterity, always active)
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: Constantly
WHAT COMPONENTS DOES IT NEED: Itself
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: Uh, hitting her with really strong wind from the front would work? Temporarily, they'd still be helping her once she gets back up.
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: Almost purely physical, though when Lyras channels her own wind element into it, like the others, it taxes mind and magic as well.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: Remembering this is her only footwear so if she forgets to bring them i just. Better be a good reason for it.

BIOGRAPHY: Primordial is a typical Luxan who comes from a world where witchcraft and sorcery go hand in hand with science and engineering. A world with deviant morals that raises children to believe in an uncaring world and deal with their mental problems through torture. It’s people so nulled to basic joy’s and passions that their sensory organs randomly interpret pain and pleasure, while they commit acts of random surgery to achieve perfect aesthetic standards. It’s a world that worships the fundamental underlying universal forces as gods and monster known as Great Old Ones and Outer Gods.

Primordial grew up as the son of middle class family and watched as his family grew in prestige becoming Barons in their own right. His father served as an important businessman and leader of his hometown, and it was his prevention of a financial crisis that earned his family it’s title. Primordial always looked up to his father and strove to be like him hoping to make sure that their family title wouldn't be tarnished or left as a mere prefix.

He attended both Lavi University and Miskatonic University in order to gain a number of degrees which helped him become an inner circle scientist at RADICAL. The Research And Development In Cosmic Assets Laboratory is a Luxan Defense program designed to create military weapons and public tools. He worked very closely on the DEiMOS project along with several other scientists and was awarded the title of Baron for being on the team to successful create the first DEiMOS on purpose. Following this award he was given a scholary grant by the Silver Twilight Lodge to research other dimensions. The Silver Twilight Lodge represents a unique religious club of Luxa’s most privileged elite and Primordial knew that that reward for his exploration would be membership with them and cementing his families title.

Hiring his good friends Insidious, a famous artist, and Aegis, a lauded soldier, he set out to explore the fringes of the universe. Up until this point Luxa had only been able to maintain real contact with other universes were another version of Luxa existed or where the Great Old Ones held control. With the DEiMOS they can break into other universes. Primordial and his team spent ten years travelling to different universes, finding their wisest planets and libraries then ransacking them of knowledge to send back to the homeland.

With just five years left on his mission the Baron arrived on a planet he called “Dabfia’s World”. There he met with the other members of the Apartment Block. At first he tried to raid and pillage the world knowledge as best he could, but he quickly found him embroiled in the schemes of the residents. He made fast friends with a group of sentient raptors, recorded the exploits of an entire pantheon of gods and fought off drone invasions. Eventually the Baron forgot the reason he was here in the first place.

Then the Yellow Event happened and Primordial was killed in the cross fire of a minor god war as the Unspeakable Ones boundary collided with Dabfia’s world for a single moment at a single location. While Primordial’s body was dead, his long time in the DEiMOS had left an imprint of his consciousness their were he slowly reconstructed a body. The process severely damaged the DEiMOS and trapped Insidious and Aegis inside as well. Only the actions of the people they had come to rob, subjugate and attack freed them. It was then that the Baron had revelation and resolved to work with the other residents rather than in spite of them. However no long after he had resolved to acquire his knowledge through more peaceful means was he spirited away to GALLIMAUFRY where he needs to find a way to fix his DEiMOS, help his friends, and find some enemies he can horribly maim like the good old days.

CHARACTERISTIC/ABILITY: Luxan Physiology
POWER LEVEL: 3
WHAT DOES IT DO: Luxan bodies are modified since birth for practical, cosmetic and spiritual reasons. This grants them numerous redundant organs, (extra hearts, livers, lungs, kidneys) reinforced bones, steroid boosted muscles, and all of their vital organs and arteries are sheathed in a sub-dermal protective mesh. These make them incredibly resilient to nearly every kind of damage, capable of loosing limbs without issue and ignoring many wounds that would fatal to others. While they don't heal faster than regular they can be more easily stiched back together and bleed out far slower than a regular human. In addition, Luxans possess a staggering immunity to a wide number of poisons, toxins, and diseases (They cannot get physical intoxicated from alcohol, they require jet fuel substitutes to get buzzed). Luxan’s senses are vastly enhanced granting them ten times the sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch receptibility of a normal human. Luxans have a predisposition to masochism and can handle massive amounts of pain feeling only joy, ecstasy and bliss.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: It’s there bodies. It is always active in some way shape or form.
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: Anything that can exceed his resistance to damage.
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: Luxans require three times as much sustenance, they will starve very quickly if not properly fed and will show signs of fatigue if they don’t pay attention to their food supply.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: Can’t do anything that hasn’t be described. It’s not that they don’t feel pain it’s that they are able to find more pleasure in it to a certain degree. Eventually it will start to lose it’s charm and begin to act like regular pain.

CHARACTERISTIC/ABILITY: Quantum Senses
POWER LEVEL: 3
WHAT DOES IT DO: Primordial can detect shifts and patterns in fundamental forces such as gravity, Electro Magnetism, Strong and Weak Nuclear forces as well as others. He can tell what kinds of radiation are in the air and which direction their moving, he can sense dimensional rifts and gravitational time dilation as well as other strange and similar phenomena’s.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: Is a passive sense that he always has, just has a choose when to use it.
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: If the changes and disturbances are small enough he might have trouble detecting them.
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: Can distract him if there are sudden drastic changes.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: Primordial won’t notice every change, like a smell you might not notice all of the smells around you but notice when something strong comes along. Primordial can focus on an item or location but he won’t just know something is up unless it is a very BIG something.

SPELL/FORCE ABILITY: Summon Servant of the King
POWER LEVEL: 5
WHAT DOES IT DO: Allows the User to Summon a Byahkee out of interstellar space to the caster. The caster can use it as a steed with some easy but can also convince it to perform tasks by appealing to its connection to Hastur, offering sufficient sacrifice, and granting it a boon of some kind.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: Can used only at night. Becomes easier to cast between October and March when Aldebaran is above to horizon.
WHAT COMPONENTS DOES IT NEED: It begins with a long chant which creates vibrations to carry across the galaxy audible only to Byahkee. At the end of the chant a whistle made of bone is blown and the cast cuts themselves or offers up a blood sacrifice. The Byahkee comes and drinks the blood if they find the sacrifice notable they will remain as long as they desire.
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: Holy spaces already dedicated to other deities may make contacting a Byahkee impossible.
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: Letting an eldritch entity suck your blood or procuring a suitable sacrifice. The Long chant can easily take an hour of time. Anyone unaccustomed to a Byahkee nearby may suffer some sanity damage. Frequent casting makes an area more associated with the King in Yellow and can lead to dangerous physical changes.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: Holy spaces already dedicated to other deities may make contacting a Byahkee impossible.

SPELL/FORCE ABILITY: R’lyehian Matrix
POWER LEVEL: 2
WHAT DOES IT DO: Primordial can use hidden laws of reality and non-euclidian science to alter distances and locality. This allows Primordial to select two points or objects, then a target. For that unique target, the distance between the two points or objects can be increased or decreased.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: Can be used as often as desired. So long as materials are present.
WHAT COMPONENTS DOES IT NEED: Primordial needs to make a gesture with his hands while holding a branch of blackthorn dipped in tears or salt water. While doing so he visualizes the complex hyperdimenional mathematical shape of the R’lyehian Matrix vaguely comparable to a 10th dimensional Metatrons Cube.
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: If severely distracted while trying to visualize the Matrix the spell will fail
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: Primordial need a few seconds to visualize the matrix and doing so leaves him vulnerable. Traveling distances this way can be disorienting and if used to often in a short amount of time it will give him a brutal headache and hallucinations.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: The bigger the change in distance the longer Primordial needs to visualize the Matrix

SPELL/FORCE ABILITY: Command the Sky
POWER LEVEL: 2
WHAT DOES IT DO: The caster alters the humidity, winds and temperature of an area with a 300 yard radius to alter the weather. Using rain, snow, fog, strong winds, chilling and burning temperatures can be created.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: Can be used once a day.
WHAT COMPONENTS DOES IT NEED: Mistletoe, Sulphur, Vervain, and Gold Dust crushed up into a powder and ingested by the caster. The caster then makes a short chant, others who know the chant can join in and increase the spells effects.
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: Can be countered by those who possess weather altering magic or by natural changes in the weather which will happen as usual just against the newly created weather conditions.
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: The caster suffers a short bout of madness after casting lasting about ten minutes. The chant takes time, the more intense of an effect desired the more time needed. To turn a sunny day in a stormy overcast miasma takes about thirty minutes.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: Is not a focused power always covers a large area, must modify existing weather so if their a storm ranging it’s easier to make rain but if there are no clouds then it’s much harder.

SPELL/FORCE ABILITY: Attunement of the Spheres
POWER LEVEL: 2
WHAT DOES IT DO: This power must be cast over an area no larger than fifty square yards. That are then becomes attuned to a particular function and interfering with gravity, temperature variation, friction, light intensity, and the progression of time, among others. It can be used to short circuit electronics, disrupt sensitive equipment or make an area more stable for unnatural creatures.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: Can be used three times a day.
WHAT COMPONENTS DOES IT NEED: Requires a short chant lasting ten seconds while the caster sprinkles a mixture of amber, skull fragments, and five year old coffin wood.
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: Can be countered by divine intervention or other area altering magics.
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: Each time after the first the caster uses this spell they are wracked by pains and aches as though afflicted by terrible arthritis.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: The caster can only attune an area to one function at a time. So they might be able to make gravity much stronger but they won’t also be able to reduce the brightness.

SPELL/FORCE ABILITY: Dreams of the Deep Gods
POWER LEVEL: 7
WHAT DOES IT DO: Allows a person to meet with, view, converse with, or experience one of the sunken mythos creatures related to Cthulhu which includes Dagon, Hydra, star-spawn, deep ones Zoth-Ommog, Ghatanothoa, and Cthulhu. Their responses are as alien as they are and may merely be commands, helpful advice, unhelpful advice or barely understandable knowledge to be determined with the OPs when the issues present itself.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: n/a
WHAT COMPONENTS DOES IT NEED: Blood, blades, sea water, nearby creatures.
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: n/a
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: Ritual requires that the user goes into a dark, wet, area below sea level and cut themselves repeatedly while muttering certain chants. Takes about an hour to complete and can be dangerous if too much blood is spent.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: Can only be used in a realm, dimension, plane of existence where the creatures in question exist. Cthulhu obviously doesn’t exist in Demens' realm but Deep Ones might. So usually Luxans would have to leave this dimension to use it. The OP controls the creatures, their reactions, and responses.arthritis.

WHAT DOES IT DO: Takes the form of a copper dagger inscribed with runes and symbols. When Primordial cuts someone with this blade he gains memories from them.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: So long as it exists.
WHAT COMPONENTS DOES IT NEED: Needs to make contact with the life fluid of whatever it is harming.
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: Doesn’t effect things that aren’t organic.
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: The intrusion of other people’s thoughts can be disorienting briefly if the memory is a potent one.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: If the cuts are shallow then the memories are random but if the cuts are deep and damaging then Primordial can choose the memories he takes.


ITEM: The Glass of the Third Eye of the Key.
SPELL/ABILITY: The Third Eye of the Key
POWER LEVEL: 2
WHAT DOES IT DO: This item takes the form of a compass mixed with a pocket watch. The watch can be opened and an item about the size of a quarter may be inserted. The compass will point towards any items similar to any items inserted into it, and while being held a person can see through objects to visualize the target of the spell.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: Work so long as the matter within is stable and hasn’t decayed.
WHAT COMPONENTS DOES IT NEED: The compass and material to target.
WHAT COUNTERS/NEGATES IT: People shielded from magical observation won’t be seeable, people shielded from magical tracking and detective will not be pointed to.
WHAT DOES IT COST THE CHARACTER, MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY: The bear suffers slightly impaired vision while holding because they can see through objects to their target.
WHAT RESTRICTIONS APPLY: If taken from a non-living thing it will point towards the closest similar object. If taken from a living thing it will only point to the source it was taken from. A piece of Willows hair will only point to Willow, not to every Pony.

WHAT DOES IT DO: Takes the form of a crystal bracelet which destroys and deflects incoming projectiles aimed at Primordial.
HOW DOES IT DO IT: The bracelet projects as aura of overlapping substandard Electromagnetic fields and kinetic force. When the fields are disturbed it alters the shields processors which then modify the fields either burning up the projectile, warping it to be useless or deflecting it away from the wearer.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN IT BE USED: Relies of already existing ambient EM fields for energy. Never runs out of power unless specifically calibrated EM signals are employed against it.
WHAT COMPONENTS DOES IT NEED TO OPERATE: Relies of already existing ambient EM fields for energy.

We'll have power intermittently this week, with possibly none tomorrow or the next day. Weather coupled with the rising water/flooding, mixed with a dash of "the power lines were falling apart already!" have brought the utility company out to fix things.

While I have power, I need to launder towels and suck up water with the shop vac. Our basement was a wading pool over the weekend.

Likewise to what Agy has said, I hope the situation improves over there Swith! And you guys are back with power and a dryer house real soon. That real life situation should obviously come first, we collectively can hold the PL fort here for as long as we need to before our Fennec and Badger can comfortably come back on, these things happen without warning, but we all understand such delays and crisis, and have learned to be really flexible when hard situations like this happen. We'll be all well and good, this is just a bummed start in the month.
