No it's true. Probably 90% of all attacks in the UK have been carried out by British citizens.

Not really. The OP's argument revolves around the supposed dangers of Syrian refugees. If the vast majority of the terrorist attacks committed in the United Kingdom (and the rest of Europe) were committed by people born in Europe, the argument falls apart.

It's the actions of Corsican separatists.

Yes, they exist.

On the map, if you look at Spain you will notice that most of the red is concentrated in the Basque homeland . Supposedly, the Basque separatists responsible for those attacks in the Basque homeland declared an end to attacks in 2011. In April of this year they declared a measure to hand in there weapons.

I am quiet confused, quiet honestly, about the exact definition of a terrorist attack as it is presented in the OP's map, as many of these cases aren't even considered terrorist incidents by national governments. That said, there is a huge amount of truth to the fact that the reason Poland and Slovakia etc. haven't experienced terrorist attacks yet in recent times is because they have more sensible border policies than most EU countries. In addition to this, even if their borders were wide open, they do not attract the "refugees" or economic migrants coming from the Middle East due to not being welfare states, an inherent factor of many western nations. Of course, for this mollycoddling, the west had sadly paid the price in the blood of hundreds of innocent lives.

We all know this is a red herring.

It really isn't. I live in the United Kingdom; almost every terrorist attack we have had has been committed by someone born in the UK. All four of the attacks which we have had this year have been committed by people born in the UK, and one of them was by a far-right extremist, the other three were by British Muslims, and do not represent the views of the vast majority of British Muslims.

Ehm, exactly when did Islamic terrorism attack Italy? Or Iceland? Or Corse?
I call YUUGE bullshit on your map. And on your whole post.

Also, nope, Poland isn't much European. It's European only when being European means getting money from the EU and emigrating to other EU countries. When it's about respecting the treatises they signed (like the agreement about the relocation of refugees), suddenly the EU is an evil bureaucracy blackmailing poor Polandball who cannot into space (gib gib money, gib gib clay).

From that source: Recently this map of terrorist attacks in Europe went viral and was reposted many times in social media. Does it present actual data about terrorist attacks?

The map definitely takes liberties with the definition of terrorism. For example the Tuusula shooting (Finland) had no ideological motivation, similar to what I believe is referred to in the USA as an 'active shooter event'.

Uhhh...

How do you know it's about the Syrians, though? There are North Africans, Afghans, etc. who might be radicalized, not just Syrians who recently arrived.

Also, don't forget about your "homegrown" terrorists. Not all radical Islamic terrorists who are responsible for the attacks in Europe are trained in camps in Syria. Some of them have been born and raised in the UK, France, etc. and have been radicalized within their own communities. Because there are Islamic scholars in Europe who spread religious hatred in the hearts of European cities, and you don't crack down on them.

I fully support religious freedom, but I think it's not smart to condone hate speech under the pretext of enhancing religious freedom. Just as many Europeans would be lashing at Christian extremists for speaking ill of Muslims, they should also be more vocal about their grievances about Muslims who speak ill of the Western culture (and, mind you, all this happens while they live in the West and enjoy the opportunities that these Western democracies present to them) and pave the way for the radicalization of vulnerable young people.

Those regions are, if you have not noticed, engulfed in a civil war. Of course the people there are going to suffer. But it's their war to fight and therefore their suffering to have. For better or worse that is just the nature of war and they knew what they were signing up for when they started it.

What is outrageous about what's happening in Europe is that this is NOT something Europe signed up for. It's a foreign invasion. And one that is in clear breach of every custom of diplomacy, war and indeed just civilized conduct. When Spain had their civil war and everyone who was everyone got involved (like seriously, it was basically the Korean War but with Hitler fighting the Russians instead of Americans) the opposing sides didn't send out terrorists all around Europe to wreak havoc. And neither did the Koreans, Chinese or Russians. Or anyone else.

But the Syrians just know nothing about civilization and insist on trying to bully the entire world around so as to score political points at home. That's what pisses people off.

I did wonder why relatively few refugees entering Europe from across the Mediterranean or from the southeast through Turkey showed any genuine interest in settling Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, or Poland. They even rejected the notion of seeking residence in predominantly Muslim European states, i.e. Albania. Most of them specifically wanted refugee status in Germany or France or Sweden or in some cases, Austria and the U.K.

Despite the fact that Poland and Bulgaria are still definitely a step up from their countries of origin.

I suspect some of this might be racial (mutual distrust with Eastern Europeans and Slavs in general), others political (there is a lot more corruption in Eastern Europe and the Balkans, plus less organisations and infrastructure for resettling refugees), and some of it might be fear of human trafficking and exploitation by organized crime, which is a much larger problem the further east you get on the continent.

Since when did "those regions" signed up for that shit? If anything, only a very few people signed up for that and things only became this bad because those very few people received support from other nations, most of whom aren't even located in that region.

Purpelia wrote:What is outrageous about what's happening in Europe is that this is NOT something Europe signed up for.

It did. Europe, or at least most of Europe, is openly involved in the wars of the Middle-East and has been over the past decades. You cannot bomb your enemies (and civilians) around without expecting them to bomb you back in one way or another. People in Europe often seem to forget that we're at war, which means there is an enemy who will, at any time and any place, try to strike back.

Comparing the Spanish Civil War with the Syrian Conflict is like comparing apples with oranges. Aside from both being violent they have literally nothing in common.

San Marlindo wrote:I did wonder why relatively few refugees entering Europe from across the Mediterranean or from the southeast through Turkey showed any genuine interest in settling Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, or Poland.

Large, socially conservative Christian populations maybe? (Not in Albania's case.)
Most of the time I have no idea what the hell I'm doing or talking about.
