Beverage Producer name:
Royal Scottopia Brew & Malt Co.

City and Nation of Location:
Urquhart, Scottopian Isles

Head of Company/Brewery:
Matthew Sullivan

Storefront/link:
N/A

Booth/Tent Special Requirements:
We request that our tent be divided into 3 sectors. The northern end containing a full service bar for festival parpicipants providing our beverages as they are ment to be enjoyed by a team of official bartenders, who become qualified at the main brewery. At the southern end of the tent we wish to deploy a kitchen to serve Scottopian dishes to patrons wishing to taste what the isles have to offer. Seperating the 2 ends, will be a dinning area consisting of long tables for those to sit down, a quarter of that area being standing room with tall tables.

Beverage categories entering:
Wheat/Weisse:
Rays of Richie - Made from the grains from the sun soaked plains & fields of Glenbrae, Richie in South Scottopia. Aged in former wine barrels, this wheaty beer has a sweetness to appease with a ABV of 6.3% and a low IBU of 45.

Lagers:
Surfrider Lager - A smooth refreshing lager fermented and aged for weeks at cold tempetures to bring out the delicate, spicy & hoppy aroma. This malty beer sets a standard with a ABV of 7.5% and a IBU of 75.

Other/Experimental Beers:
Hemp Ale - This famous Scottopian brown beer, illegal in some countries due to misunderstanding, is brewed using roasted hemp seeds that bring a unique & earthly, herb accented flavor with a ABV of 8.7% and a high IBU of 90.

Whiskey/Scotches:
Royal Scottopia Whiskey - Celebrating its own 300th anniversary this year, our famous Royal Scottopia Whiskey was ordered to be created by King Callum as a way to celebrate the Kingdom of Scottopia's centinial. The recipe has never been changed in all these times and is a coveted gift for foreigners visiting the Royal CommonWealth. The one that started it all has a ABV of 60% and is 120 Proof.

Rums:
Sweet Spice - Our version of the popular drink is made with 17 herbs & spices found nowhere else but in the Scottopian Isles. Infact, all spices are not found on every island and need to be located and transported before brewing, which brings a cultural significance to this drink. With a ABV of 40% and a 80 Proof.

Tequilas:
San Joaquin Tequila - An ode to our San Joaquin Valley allies, this drink was made as a gift to the Royal CommonWealth government by the people of the Valley Republic upon their independance. Upon arrival upon the islands, the drinks popularity took off and the creators & specialists were brought in to replicate the drink for our own citizens. Its ABV is 35% and is 70 Proof

Will you be serving food as well? If so, include menu, link to menu or type of fare:
Patrons of the event who are willing to dine within the confines of the Royal Scottopian tent will be given a choice of 1 of 3 meals representing the Scottoian Isles:
Meal #1 - Haggis, Neeps & Tatties
Brought along with the Scottish settlers to the Scottopian Isles, the dishes ingrediants are sheep's pluck, minced with onion, oatmeal & various spices. Served with neeps, which are turnips along with tatties, which are potatoes. Both the neeps & tatties will be mashed. Goes well with any of our fine beers or glass of Royal Scottopia Whiskey.

Meal #2 - Fish/Sausage Supper
A typical Fish & Chips or Sausage & Chips as if served on the streets of Urquhart itself. The fish is Southern Cod, freshly caught in the Scottopian Straits then prepared by our chefs & cooks before being deepfried in a batter comprised of our very own Surfrider Lager and native spices. Served ontop of a bed of chips with the option of gravy or curry. The sausage is from South Scottopian farm raised beef, all of which located within 50 miles of Urquhart, it is also deepfried in the batter. Both dishes come with a pickled onion & salad.

Meal #3 - Lau Lau
A traditional native Scottopian food before the onset of Europeans, its preparation consists of a few taro leaves and placing a few pieces of beef, chicken, fish and pork in the center. The food was traditionally made by wrapping the taro leaves in banana leaves before surrounding it by hot rocks & continually exchanging the rocks as they cooled for hotter ones. After time, the Banana leaves are removed leaving the Lau Lau ready to eat. Served with white rice & macaroni salad.

Just a heads up... I'll be fairly busy for the rest of the week, and then I'm out of town all of next week. I'll be returning on the 29th, but might have some brief access to the computer a couple of days before that (and one or two half-hour periods at the end of this week). So hopefully it won't be my last IC post in this year's AVBF, but that's looking like a possibility. Either way, it's been fun as always and good luck to everyone in the judging.

I should also state for all potential brewers and distillers that I intend to set my experience (rank) bonus back to zero, as well as minimizing host bonus. It's only fair and also, realistic in an IC sense in that there's bound to be young upstarts. Formulas improve, innovations happen, etc. So, new competitors and former, lower scoring competitors will have an even better chance of scoring medals.

Excellent question. It is in the OP, but it's easy to miss in the mass of info that is there. 2 beverages per category. Any more than 2 entered will simply be ignored. I have seen people get around this by getting a bit creative. i.e. With a citrusy, fruity IPA for instance, entering it as a fruit based beer instead of an IPA, or walking the fringes of the borders between those dark ales, porters and stouts. I hope that helps.

Cut off for brewers/distillers, vendors, entertainers and corporate sponsors is now set for 2 weeks from this date.

IPAs/ESBs: Rogue's Brew Cat's Paw (5%) - Cat Burglars are renowned as stealthy Rogues, and this full-bodied beer is just as sneaky. It's light colour hides a body that is stuffed full of hops, leaving a lingering bitterness. Cutting through it all are citrus hits of lemon and orange.

Pale Ales: Rogue's Brew Classic Pale Ale (5.5%) - The beer that started it all, this beer is so good, we're still making it the same way we always have. A mid-strength beer with a strong hops flavour and citrus overtones, the Classic strikes a fine balance between sweet and bitter.

Ambers/Reds/Ryes: Rogue's Brew Midnight Ale (4.8%) - A Rogue is most happy working at midnight, and this dark-brown ale will certainly make you a happy worker. A delightful strong malt taste, this beer is sweet with notable roasted toffee and caramel flavours, with a hint of chocolate.

Pilsners/lights/kolsch: Rogue's Brew Lightfingers (2.5%) - Our lightfingers is an easy drinking beer with a pale colour and clean taste. Light, crisp, and delicate, the Lightfingers has a finely-balanced flavour of hops and citrus

Stouts: Rogue's Brew Skulduggery (7.0%) - A serious beer, the Skulduggery speaks of dark deeds and mischief. This extra strong stout is full-bodied, with a velvety palate and slightly bitter, nutty flavour with hints of aniseed.

Meads/Honey beers & ales: Rogue's Brew Stickyfingers (4.5%) - Made from a traditional European recipe, our Stickyfingers uses clover honey and beer-yeast to deliver a sweet beer with strong honey flavours, and a slight bitter finish.

Lagers: Rogue's Brew Sneak Lager (4.5%) - The Sneak is light on the tongue, with a clean, crisp taste and low bitterness, with full citrus flavours and a late sweetness.

Ciders/Cysers: Rogue's Brew Scrumping Cloudy Cider (6%) - Any Rogue knows that stolen apples taste best, and one might think our own Rogues went scrumping for the apples to make this full-strength cider. We take nothing out, and add nothing in, to make this about as pure as apple cider can be. This cider retains a distinctive apple flavour and refreshing tartness.

Whisk(e)ys/Scotches: Rogue's Brew Highwayman (36%) - The Highwayman is a traditional blended-malt Scotch, aged 12 years in oak barrels. The Highwayman is characterised by a deep colour and tones of liquorice and juniper.

Gins: Rogue's Brew Cutthroat (85%) - Some gins are sweet, light affairs. This one isn't. Swig it, and you'll find out why we named it the Cutthroat. Made in traditional copper stills, the Cutthroat is a dry gin distilled from eight botanicals that delivers a complex and exotic flavour of juniper, citrus, and rare spices.

To: Jack Stilton; Head of Rogue's Brew of Lilyford, Barunia

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the Fifth Annual Alpen View Brew Festival.
We have received your deposit for a reservation. We will save Rogue's Brew a booth and our judges look forward to tasting some prime Barunian beverages.

You will find that you will have plenty of space in your tent area for all the activities you have planned. It is our wish to also inform you that you may want to reconsider entering the Midnight Ale into the Ambers/Reds category, as it seems by description alone, that it might very well fit more into the Brown ales/porters or Abbeys/dark malt ales categories. Just a suggestion, and ultimately, the choice is up to you and your brewery.

Thank you for being a part of a grand tradition here in the Confederacy.

Sincerely,

David and Erica Toft,
Chief Organizers of the Alpen View Brew Festival
