If I have to add a rule to the OP about oversized flags and one-liner "diplomatic" posts, I will do so with extreme prejudice.

EDIT: Additionally, there's nothing wrong with conducting at least some of your diplomacy in the OOC and handwaving it in the IC. If that's necessary to keep the IC thread clean of borderline spam, then so be it.

One paragraph history of your resistance group:
The Republic of South Africa was one of the few nations within the African continent to hold regular elections and not fall pray to coups of any kind. The only real problem that usually faced the nation was the ever present struggle of apartheid which was later fully repealed in the late 20th century to make way for the up and coming progressive 21st century.

However, with the famines that plauged the 'Rainbow Nation' in early 2013; the facade began to break as officail goverment measures failed to stem the rising unrest. Then on March 27th, the nation was plunged into chaos as a division of starving SADF soldiers siezed an official goverment food storage site on the outskirts of Cape Town. The mutineers were given the run of the site for two days before goverment forces cracked down with extreme prejudice. The end result, a total of twenty thousand dead and one of the largest food stockpiles in the republic in flames.

With the threat of starvation looming, social order began to break underneath the pressure of the goverment mandates and legislation. Then in October, the city of Blomfontein broke away from the republic, and established itself as a soverign nation; propped up by a number of military units loayal to the icnreased rations the new nation provided. The next two months saw a similar trend as cities broke away from the goverment mandates, to strike out on their own; a trend that unfortunatly saw these new nations coming into conflict with each other. Conflicts that that the former South African goverment, now confined to a small parcel of territory around Cape Town, was unable to halt.

Three months later, with most of city-states military forces depleted and tens of thosuands dead; an uneasy ceasfire was announced. Yet peace did not return as skirmishes still marked the contested areas that do not belong to any one city-state. It is in this free fire zone that the African Unification Front was born.

Formed underneath the banner of a dozen decorated soldiers of the Rainbow Conflict; the African Unification Front came to be for the express purpose of uniting the fractured whole of South Africa. Starting out with the takeover of a few small city-states whose proffessional forces were depleted; the AUF grew in size as eager and idealistic men and woman flocked to the ideals (and food) the GUF stood for. Spreading from these strongholds, the AUF attempted to unfiy all of South Africa, but was soon stopped by the larger military forces the major city-states of Johannsburg and Blomfentien possessed.

Now with their presence known and food supplies being steadily depleted; the AUF has been pushed back onto the defensive while they scramble for what support they can find.

One paragraph history of your character:Formerly, a Captain within the South African Special Forces Brigade; Andkian 'Andi' Koenig was initially loyal to the South African goverment. However, in the first month of the 'Rainbow War'; Koenig's family was killed by a goverment airstrike on a rebel held sector of Cape Town. While not deserting at that moment, the incident left the cpatain shaken and vulnerable mentally for the next four months of warfare that raged across the country. Four months, where Koenig and his fellow Recces(special forces) killed 'hostile' villages and towns wholesale and confiscated their foodstuffs for examination within loyalist lines.

With the cease-fire came a period of respite where Koenig reflected on his actions and his losses. Within two days of the ceasefire, Koenig dissapeared into the no-mans land of the interior and eventually met up with a gang of disgruntled soldiers from failed, rising or exisiting city states that now made up the former republic. From there the stage was set, as Koenig and the deserters lived a nomadic life style; picking up fellow deserters and displaced refugees in their travels. All the while, campfire talks began to plant the seeds of greater aspirations into the steadily growing band of men and woman.

Eventually, these aspirations cultimated with the take over of a series of outposts and villages belonging to a weakened city state. With the advent of territory came the need for leaders to control it. From that need came the Council, and at its head was Koenig.

As for what China could do for the UWAR, well definitely more of what's been happenning irl, with Chinese investment and trade with the continent ballooning in the 21st century to (if I'm not mistaken) overtake that of the United States. Some of that could be preferentially funneled to your nation by policy of course. On top of that, I'm thinking of having the PRC be involved in UN peacekeeping efforts trying to protect displaced people in the region, if you're looking for a military relationship (aid, support in tackling rebel groups, etc) that could be worked in as well. Although truly China has no opposition to your nation being friend of both the US and the PRC, since a safe and secure China benefits the world as a whole as well as the People's Republic. Now, if by 'Pro-American' you mean 'Anti-China' then that'll be a different story and would evoke some harsh criticism of their cross-Pacific comrades.

What's a malinchista?
I honestly think that can't become a thing, as Latin America has always been dependent on other continents/blocs. Brazil, Venezuela, Bolivia align towards Russia and China, while Chile, Argentina and Colombia are currently friendlier with the West. But yeah, I guess we could do that.
