[R]Slur & Flaming in UK Politics

Postby Lamadia 2016 » Wed Nov 02, 2016 5:05 pm

I would like to apologise if anything I said in the thread was offensive- I have edited any posts that could have been perceived as so- it wasn't intentional, but rather was supposed to be constructive.
However, on the UK Politics thread, I am concerned that memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=876783 is acting in an aggressive, somewhat misogonistic, and 'creepy' way, using terms such as 'bitch' on multiple occasions, as well as attacking my intelligence and using the phrase 'schoolgirl' as some unusual means of attack:

viewtopic.php?p=30288180#p30288180
viewtopic.php?p=30288290#p30288290
Possibly actionable
Again, I have edited any posts of mine which may have caused offence, however I felt I had to report this unusual and aggressive behavior.

Can I request a second opinion over the brushing off of Lamadia taking the piss out of someones mental health? Both posts are qouted fully as was there before the edit and I fail to see how a personal attack over somebodies health whilst at uni is not actionable. Said posts are the route cause of the shit show just witnessed.

These links to posts that qouted then.

Basically background IR told us a few months back he was basically failing his masters in some sort of nuclear physics due to mental health problems. It was told at the same time so impossible to know that IR dropped out yet not also see the reason. The two posts edited but preserved in the qouted links above show a personal attack over IR's mental health issues. Which I think are more than just borderline attacking him dropping out at that stage.

Now that I've seen them, I'm back and forth on whether or not they're actionable within that context. I certainly see your point, though. However, as I've already made an earlier ruling with less evidence, I'm going to have to leave this up to another, previously uninvolved moderator. Flare sent up.

This one, however, I can rule on.

Actionable posts are still actionable even if you edit them later. The posts are quoted multiple times, by multiple people. I have no reason to believe that any of the posters Anywhere Else But Here, Mackonia, and South Park Labourite are the same person or that any of them have tampered with the posts they quoted. So I'm willing to accept their quotes as proof of what was originally posted. Lamadia, abuse of the editing tool may result in your ability to edit posts being removed. With your warning history, I find it difficult to believe that the offense was unintentional.

A few questions;
1) Why was memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=876783 given a lesser sentence than me? He has had deleted accounts, and clearly harassed & abused me, yet he got a 1 week ban, in comparison to my 2 weeks. I want to know why.
2) I admitted that the posts were edited to ensure there was no offence to players- I admitted that. I was not 'editing to destroy evidence'.
3) Is there any proof that my quotes in the other posts were not interfered with? I am not suggesting that they were, however I am concerned that a judgement was made based on a character assumption, with no evidence. That doesn't sound right.
Thank you.

I've blocked her... everything I've said isn't directly addressed to her and have all been in response to other posters. I saw her ISIS post when I was offline, made a comment about it. None of that qualifies as harassment. The reason I was banned previously was because I was deemed to make Insulting comments like 'girl' for instance, what I've said is no different from what others have said on the thread? Can you please get her to block me, then there'd be no issues?

It states clearly right here - Lamadia is meant to put me on ignore, as I've done. Then she would only be able to read my posts through the replies of others. We wouldn't be able to see anything we say about each other. Please can you tell her to block me effective immediately?

I have now blocked the offender, needless to say it is clear the posts are directed to me, and are equally as clearly offensive & insulting. I believe I am warranted to retaliate should appropriate action not be taken?

I would also add that the player was banned for repeatedly calling me a 'bitch' & similar attacks, and furthermore his attempts to offend me continued in the posts linked before I blocked him. These are actionable.

Good. Next time I advise you to do that, do so immediately. Even then, however, it is not an excuse for others to think that they can get away with that sort of behavior.

I want to add additional fuel to the denial of this statement. You do NOT get permission to retaliate, beyond the right to report rule-breaking posts to Moderation.

Disabuse yourself of the notion of tit-for-tat retaliation. Do it now.
