What about Shilo? As useful as he can be, he's still a layman when it comes to medical things. It would take a while to get him up to speed on everything, so it's far more practical to find a new partner. That isn't to say that Shilo would be left completely out of the loop; it's simply that he would be more of an assistant than an equal partner until he was up to par on medical skills.

And don't worry; this girl would be heterosexual. No crushes on the doctor this time. XD

You know what? Screw it, it's happening. And I'm using Riza Hawkeye as the image source because... Riza Hawkeye is... well... she just is.
