Executive Order to ensure that Luziyca complies with the Three Conditions
Sera Svensson at a campaign rally
BETHLEHEM, F.C. - Just a day after the leaders of the OGIE arrived in Gusev where they were arrested by Namorese police for terrorist attacks against Namor, Sera Svensson signed an executive order regarding the "Three Conditions" that were a prerequisite for normalization relations with Namor from the end of the Third Namo-Luziycan War. Her order would formally ensure Luziycan compliance with the Three Conditions.
The Three Conditions were agreed by the Namorese Central Council to be like this:
- Luziyca ceases all recognition towards the regime in Peitoa (Republic of Namor) and recognizes the People's Republic of Namor as the sole, legitimate government of the Namorese nation and people.
- Luziyca acknowledges that Nantai is Namorese "culturally, politically and legally." It must agree that Namor should restore sovereignty over Nantai sometime soon (although Su didn't specify when) and prepare for reunification. It must recognize Namor's stance that although Namo supports a peaceful reunification, Namo can resort to unilateral moves whenever it sees fit.
- Luziyca apologizes and compensates for all harm inflicted by it on the Namorese people. Luziyca should compensate no less than £200,000 to the descendants of Namorese soldiers recognized to have fought in the First Namo-Luziycan War, no less than £400,000 to the relatives of those who died during the Txotai rebellion, and no less than £800,000 to the families of the 16 Namorese civilians killed in the Vulan Incident. As for the Vulan Incident, Luziyca must acknowledge that it deliberately perpetrated the massacre and either hand all responsible officers to Namor so that they can be tried, or try them domestically.
The executive order issued by Sera Svensson formally stated in response to the Three Conditions that:
- Noting the ceasing of operations of the Republic of Namor, and the decision to sever ties with the RoN prior to the Namorese liberation of Peitoa and its associated islands
- Declaring that the October Consensus adequately ensures the compliance of the Second Condition
- Formally acknowledges that it has committed significant grievances, and apologizes for what it has done to the Namorese people in the First Namo-Luziycan War, the Txotai War, and the Third Namo-Luziycan War.
- The government also takes full responsibility for the Vulan incident, and shall formally charge all those responsible for committing a breach of the laws of war
- Also shall provide adequate compensation as listed in the demands of the Three Conditions to all these parties, and to provide the necessary funds to transfer these funds to the Namorese government so to distribute them
When asked about this order by reporters, she says, "Our main priority for the first while is to acknowledge that we are no longer in a detente stage. In many ways, we are forming a close partnership, and my hope is that over the course of my presidency, we will no longer have detente: instead, we will become close regional partners, and as the economies of these two south Velkian nations become intertwined, I have high hopes that there shall be no stumbling blocks towards this lofty goal."
But her decision to support the Three Conditions has seen significant opposition: Paul Nikolovich condemned Sera Svensson, saying that "she is taking detente too far," and adding that "she is placing the interests of Namor over that of our people and our country. Had the people known that she would implement such a dangerous path, we would have kept Shjoraski in office!"
Approval ratings of Sera Svensson have fallen to 27% since she decided to extradite Yorskov Lhego and Valeriy Anisim to Namor for terrorism, as well as the recent decision to sign the executive order that would ensure that Luziyca fully complies with the Three Conditions had been set out by Namor nearly twenty years ago as a precondition to normalize relations with Namor.
In Gijirokastra, protesters sympathizing with the Otekians began to demand that Svensson leave, chanting "CARE FOR US, NOT THE NAMORIAN!" and "SVENSSON WILL BANKRUPT OUR COUNTRY AND ENRICH THE NAMORESE!" Banners demonstrated opposition to her plan to expand detente and help forge closer ties to Namor.
There, the new NLP leader, ethnic Otekian Dorothy Vasiliev stated at the rally that "There is a clear line between improving relations between Namor and Luziyca, and then there is just becoming a Namorese colony. And we ran past that line, and running towards Namo," much to critical acclaim and cheers from the crowd.
This protest, as well as others all across the country, indicates that it is clear that detente is starting to reach its political limits in Luziyca, like it already has within Namor.
Vice-President Colin Hardage told reporters that "Svensson ran on a platform to promise that we will get better services. While we are starting to see some of that policy with universal healthcare beginning to be put into place nationwide, her recent decisions to pander to the Namorese on such a huge scale is too much for many Luziycans to handle. We need to slow things down a smidge, and take it gradually, not just have these changes thrust upon us."
