As for the other...well. I'm still here. I'll continue developing Nick and Rmwtyliin. I may avoid chat in some cases for awhile, because I don't want to snap at anyone; I understand that these rules have been applied in a fair manner. What really feels unfair is putting so much effort and time into this character...while I realize others are in this position as well, it hurts. Similar happened IRL last year - worse, actually. (I'm not trying to use pathos on you, I just needed to vent a little.)

I've got so many character ideas I never get to use... had an idea a while ago regarding a more villainy character but she wouldn't mesh well with the gang that runs the spectrum from good to neutral.

Primary Objective: At the moment, simply trying not to die. Trapped in an unfamiliar world with little to no survival skills, she's looking to find a way home to her parents and family (it's been near a year now).

Secondary Objectives: Attempting to get out of her self-enforced isolation. Elka was already nervous enough when she came to Bielefeld initially and rarely left her apartment. The morning that things changed so abruptly? She stuck her head out of her room once and has only left a few times since. She's trying to make friends again.

MUNDANE SKILLS
List Mundane skills here: Scavenging (she can find a use for nearly anything), cooking (She lived in what amounts to a third world country, there was no such thing as fast food), and running.

Species Related Skills: While disease, radiation hazards, animals, tribals, famine, drought, four foot tall rabbits with spiky helmets, weather, mosquitos, and losing the will to live take a lot of their numbers, the Reils that do survive can endure a lot of pain, whether it be physical or emotional. Elka has a natural resistance to the elements, whether it be cold, humidity, or toxicity. Of course, she's rather vulnerable to disease. That sort of stuff takes a toll on someone's immune system, and even a common cold will leave her stuck in her apartment until it blows over. She'll sometimes wear a weathered gas mask to try and keep herself from getting sick as often. (Something like this http://www.armygasmasks.com/v/vspfiles/ ... S-22-2.jpg )

One of the more impressive physical features of the Reil race are their leg muscles, which are exceptionally powerful and allow them to run at higher speeds than the average two-legged creature, and allow the average, reasonably fit Reil to easily leap 6 or more feet into the air, with the strongest and best trained ones being able to jump onto the roof of a building. In Elka's case, she can manage 7 feet jumps, though she'll need a running start first. That and she delivers a mean kick. Of course, the shape and size of a Reil's feet makes them ill-suited for wearing shoes, and Elka usually goes bare-foot. This'll be a disaster on rocky / sharp terrain, or anywhere with broken glass.

These are specialized skills that set you apart from the average person. You have 7 points to spend here. Examples are swordsmanship, sniper, coercion, piloting etc.
Ability 1 and Points Spent: Sneaking (4) / Living in a place where bandit raids and foreign military activity frequently takes place without being a part of either group means you either have to hide, or fight. Seeing as Elka wasn't much for fighting, she became quite good at hiding. Putting snow in her mouth to hide her breath, using natural camouflage (grass, mud, etc), or other assorted methods, she's quite good at... well, not being noticed.

Character Background/Biography: In the poor, backwater region of Reiltam, located on the small continent of Tinell, there are about two or three families with any money to their name, that, while considered absolutely filthy rich in their homeland, might hit middle-class status in the average first world nation. Elka's family made a fortune off of mercenary work during the 18th-20th centuries and began investing in mining, exploiting the sources of iron in the area. Elka didn't have much of an interest in carrying on the family tradition of mining iron or running face-first into gunfire, and remained clueless as to what she wants her career to be. She was en route to figuring it out before the usual internal conflict between village militias, bandits, and foreign militaries tired of conflict spilling into their borders forced her family to send her off to a different continent entirely... and airfare to Bielefeld was the cheapest. She was in her apartment when the building was tossed across time and space to somewhere else entirely, and has been too afraid to leave her room ever since.

All... Bran TG'd me to say he's taking a bit of a sabbatical. I'm going to park all of his characters but Yuna, and I'll continue to run her to keep Gio's most excellent game going. I will borrow Bran on occasion should we need to use the helicopter. In fact, I may do so shortly.

Appearance: A quasi-anthropomorphic, multi-hued bipedal "reptile" with golden eyes. She can, in a pinch, gallop along on all four limbs (though it's comical to watch), and she can climb though her heavier bottom weighs her down. She's not lithe at all. Typically, she stands with wrists crossed and arms pressed to chest. She stand barely 4' in height though she can stretch out her back legs to reach a respectable (heh) 4'5".

Power Level: natural 4, but augmented by Guardian to 7 [per OP]
Strengths: Lacking a voice box, her species' primary form of communication is projection coupled with body language. She is the only species other than Nifid that can directly commune with the Guardian. The augmentation was done by it in order for it to speak directly to her mind.
Weaknesses: Well, that high level is pretty useless if a Guardian isn't involved. And it doesn't work at all on machines or non-sophont beings.
Restrictions: She can only project her thoughts. She can not "read minds" nor sample emotions. The ability won't allow her to control anybody or replace their consciousness. She can not "suggest" or "sway" or even so much as make someone thing of elephants. She is not receptive to telepathic or other sorts of psionic communication (the Guardian blocks it) though she can still communicate with her specific species.

Ability 2: Color change
Power Level: not a supernatural characteristic. [Was a 3 but now a freebie from OP]
Strengths: none
Weaknesses: Startle her and watch the purdy light show
Restrictions: She has yet to master plaid. She will, one day, oh yes. She practices when she has nothing better to do.
Explanation: her species' skin contains chromatophores. By controlling the size of the cells they can vary their color and even create changing patterns. Chromatophores are connected to the nervous system, and their size is determined by muscular contractions. They also have extremely well developed eyes, which are believed to detect both the color and intensity of light. Using their excellent eyesight and chromatophores, her species camouflage themselves by creating color patterns that closely match the underlying background. Color changes also occur when the animal is disturbed or feels threatened. This evolved into a supportive form of communication. It is how they emote. In addition to color control, they can produce light and control its intensity. Bioluminescence is used to confuse or startle predators, but also offers a means of communication in the dim, frequently overcast world they call home.

Character Background/Biography: Meps is an unassuming creature with a warm heart and a bookish mindset. Introversion is a species trait, though she won't turn down an invitation to coffee. Her background is maintenance, and she's happiest when her hands are kept busy.

Some of her species were brought to Galli years ago. They settled in the Outermark. Meps is a citizen there, and familiar with the particular dangers (and xeno species) that inhabit that strange land. She tended the Outermark's Gate for years until an accident caused the device to malfunction. Meps pushed a fellow technician out of harms way but was, herself, sucked through the portal. She has been roaming ever since (and the Gate has yet to be repaired sufficiently). Her only goal, really, is to return to Gallimaufry.

This quasi-NPC will eventually teach a PC how to repair the gates. I chose who. Selection won't be based on the character's interest in it or their skills. Rather, it will be based on the player's ability to keep to setting canon without changing tech or established protocols. It should be noted that Attendant characters live boring lives, do not have much opportunity to engage in chatter, and are used by the OP and CoOPs as tools when needed, regardless of whatever plans the player has for their PC that day. Don't volunteer a character unless you're willing to surrender them at times. Warning: the process will change them.

Alright, I'll give others a chance to check in before launching. It'll give me an idea of how much to throw at you all.

Swith, I'm interested in the adventure (if not in having one of my chars co-opted.) I think Nick, Rmwtyliin, or possibly someone from a dead RP, or one of the myriad ideas I've had could potentially work - whether I can pull it off likely depends on how much time, IC and OOC, is available. What exactly is needed in a combat character? I'd have guessed resilience and skills/powers good for fighting.

Also, as Kwa'a did briefly play a role in IC Gallimaufry events without any powers coming into things at all, I think it would make the most sense to retcon that she was whisked back to Bielefeld after that. Maybe post-injury so that her healing would work? (Incidentally, I probably should've referred to her offensive power as probability alteration, and will once back in Bielefeld if reapp permitted at that time.)

In other news... I just randomly ended up with a guy's number. 0_0 This feels crazy. It's cool and certainly a self-esteem boost, but what now?!

I can see why running would be a viable option, but then again we got laser/sun swords, so it might even out a little.
