And then there were two.

Nine clubs qualified from The Babbage Islands to this cycle of UICA international club football competitions. Two have attained the group stage, survived it, and proceeded to the knockout rounds.

In the TakilQuip Champions' Cup, both Belgium FC and Dover City were knocked out in early rounds before the group stage. Each club was re-positioned into an advanced phase of the Globe Cup. National team watch for the knockouts: Jerry Kirkpatrick with Dunboor FC; Orson Cook and Phyllis Reeves with America.

In the Globe Cup, Belgium FC have attained the knockout stage for the first time after a second-place 3-0-3 finish in their group. Dover City also made it to group stage play but finished with a 1-2-3 mark there and were eliminated. Real Santa Catalina and Greenville Rovers each fell in the final matches before the group stage, Rovers going out on away goals after splitting the last tie. Meanwhile Wye Celtic did not let their seeding to the very bottom stage of the Cup bother them, going 4-1-1 before bowing out. National team watch for the knockouts: Kelli Alder and Olympians Harvey Thornton and Walter Johnson with Belgium; Tegan Nash with Clube Comercial.

In the Chronowire Series B Champion's Cup, Lehi FC won their group and are in the round of 16. Gernsback United won one tie and lost their second, and West Scoville Athletic and Real Valencia were both one-and-done.
NS World Cup: Runner-up 55/59; Third place 50/52/58/62/63; Host 49/54/60.
Founding member, Global Cricket Federation; 2x Twenty20 world champions.

(CAF) Petardos S/A 4–6 Dunboor FC (CAF) 3–3 1–3

Albrecht FC is offered a golden opportunity to equal Yuba United’s record of four TakilQuip Champions’ Cup titles, as they become the first team to play a Champions’ Cup final at their own stadium since Septentrionia’s CS Sept-Onze Ourseville in the tournament’s third edition (the Scorpions will, however, be the first to be the official home team on such an occasion). Dunboor FC’s history in club football’s championship match may be non-existent, but their defeat of three-time finalists Petardos S/A sends them through to become the fifth different Cafundelense club to appear in the final.

Here we have a second season of the Cyanea Joint League! After the huge success of the first season, Catherina FC looked to defend their title, Sarzonian teams looked to upset Catherina's strangehold on the league lead, and new teams First City and Jasmine Island Peacocks fought to survive in their promotion to the CJL! The results (Sarzonia in navy blue, Delaclava in red):

Catherina FC runs away with the title for the second straight year! Delaclava teams couldn't do well enough in the UICA competitions, meaning Steckholl United had to settle for the GC despite their second-place finish. It's Woodstock Wild who takes 3rd place and Sarzonia's TQCC spot this time. Joining Steckholl in the TQCC are Sarzonia's Portland Timbers, Portsmouth Pirates, and Saurgerties Snakes, and Delaclava's Good Liz Walsh and Tigers. First City finished two points out of GC qualification, while Jasmine Island Peacocks managed to play well enough to stay out of relegation. Going back down to their respective leagues are Delaclava's South Harbor and Sarzonia's first team ever to be relegated, Rochester Rogues.

Postby Schiavonia » Sat Jul 17, 2010 5:31 pm

The Schiavone Football Federation has finally set up a club tournament to pass the time between World Cups. Of course, with only around 600 living on the island, there are not a lot of top level players about the place. Not the best league in the world, and not one that will register more than a small blip on the radar of the football world. But it is our little league, and we're proud of it.

Anyway, here's how the season went.

SchiavOne Standings

Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts
1 Schiavonia 46ers 28 17 6 5 63 28 +35 57 TQCC
2 New Kingsbury Monarchs 28 16 4 8 55 35 +20 52 GC
3 New Kingsbury Juniors 28 16 3 9 53 42 +11 51
4 Fielders 28 14 6 8 60 36 +24 48 GC (Cup winners)
5 Floaters 28 8 10 10 45 49 -4 34
6 Schiavone Seniors 28 8 9 11 37 62 -25 33
7 Beach Kids 28 6 6 16 40 56 -16 24
8 Cakelovers 28 2 6 20 24 69 -45 12

Cueto Cup I

Quarter Finals
Schiavonia 46ers 0-0 Cakelovers (1-1 AET, 1-3 PKs)
Fielders 3-1 Floaters
Schiavone Seniors 0-3 Kingsbury Juniors
Beach Kids 1-1 Kingsbury Monarchs (1-1 AET, 2-1 PKs)

Semi Finals
Cakelovers 3-6 Fielders
Kingsbury Juniors 1-1 Beach Kids (1-2 AET)

Final
Fielders 7-0 Beach Kids

Monarchs were the pre-season favourites to in the league, but came up short as the 46ers, named after the original number of Schiavone islands, ended up winning by five points to take their first title. This means that 46ers will also be Schiavonia's first entry into international club competition since... well, we're not even sure if we've had any before. If there were, it will have been in the old days of the NS Champions League. Anyway, good luck to them. They'll need it.

In the end of season Cueto Cup, Beach Kids went on an unexpected run to the final, beating two of the top three teams on the way before losing to Fielders in the final. Winning the cup would have seen Beach Kids get thrashed in international club competition, however they decided to get thrashed in the cup final instead, so Fielders will take their place alongside Monarchs in getting their asses handed back to them by someone from some far away land. Still, at least they got a trophy for their efforts.

Hopefully for future editions, we'll make it look a bit more professional, with some flashy badges. But then, they do say that you can't polish a turd...

Aeropag to host Champions’ Cup Final
Aeropag’s Olympic Tower Stadium will be the site of the twenty-fifth TakilQuip Champions’ Cup Final, the tournament’s sponsor has announced. The stadium, home to the Élite League’s CF Aéropag, is known for its hosting of the Games of the IV Olympiad, the fifty-first World Cup, and the biennial Aeropag Football Invitational. TakilQuip, whose contract with UICA permitted it to choose the final site for this edition on an exceptional basis, chose Aeropag over three other bids, from the newly-built Alesanka Park, the newly-renovated Sokojito Überdome, and two-time Champions’ Cup Final site Holmes Stadium.

History
Olympic Tower Stadium is the spiritual successor to the Orange–Green Bowl, also known as Aeropag Olympic Stadium, as it was the site of the first Olympic Games. Aeropag’s subsequent bid to host the Games of the IV Olympiad included the ambitious Olympic Tower, a 1 490 m, 224-story structure that hosted a majority of the Olympic events. The state-of-the-art stadium is at the pinnacle of the Tower, and features a retractable roof and seating for 196 812 spectators. One of the stadium’s most notable incidents was Bulgislavian athlete Tristiano Droga winning gold medals in the Olympics’ 200 m and 5 000 m track events and a bronze medal in the pole vault, an surprising treble which resulted in the Olympic Tower’s permanent athletics arena on floor 223 being named for him.
Image
In football, the stadium saw Edward City dethrone two-time defending Olympic men’s champions Capitalizt SLANI on kicks from the mark after a tense 1–1 draw, as well as Cassadaigua bringing Nethertopia’s surprise run to the World Cup 51 semifinal to a sudden 3–0 end, a result which sent the Dagans through to defend their title.

Identity
Along with the announcement, TakilQuip unveiled the visual identity for the Aeropag Final. A unicursal hexagram was chosen as a central element of the identity, analogous to the hexagram symbol of the Olympic Games, with which Aeropag has been inextricably linked, and which inspired the footprint of the Olympic Tower. The colors of Aeropag’s Games of the IV Olympiad are melded with the Champions’ Cup’s unmistakable orange to create a vibrant and distinctive palette. The identity will be used both by UICA and by UICA Partners, including TakilQuip, to promote the Champions’ Cup Final and surrounding events, while displaying the unique flavor of the host city.

Elemanu National League 505
Yes, there's been a year numbering change...

The new year saw ten new teams enter the National League, meaning a split of divisions. Norton Rats and Duck River Ducks were added to the top division, which will be capped at 14 teams, while the other 8 teams were put into a new second division. Each year the two bottom teams in the top division will be relegated, replaced by the two top teams in the second division. The second division will only go for 14 rounds/weeks, while the top division will go for a full 26 rounds/weeks.

The first eleven weeks of the new competition saw reigning champions the Penguins rack together a record eleven game winning streak, with star keeper Erik Novy keeping a clean sheet in every game and Elsie Gillenwater scoring 14 goals, which put her even with Paul Madrigal in the race for top goal scorer. At the end of the fourteenth week, both Amori East and Damasa City were unbeaten at the top of the table, with the Penguins holding a slim lead with only two goals scored against them. Both teams held a massive seven point lead over third place Amori West, who were four points ahead of Kesser City in fourth. Meanwhile the new team Duck River Ducks had only managed one win and three goals in their fourteen games, putting them at grave risk of being demoted at the end of the season.

Wins by the Hawks and the Crabs in the last round saw them finish in the top two of the league, and ensure that they would play in the National League next year. University of Amori striker and captain Annabelle Cothren was the leading goal scorer with eleven goals, while Foxes keeper Sharron Degner let through a measly nine goals in the entire season.

Congratulations to Western Reserve on picking up its first win as a full CSA member. Maanikola, meanwhile, is still waiting.

East Coast Conference
Has a ten-win team ever missed the tournament before? Well, Salle just did. Of course, their out-of-conference schedule was pretty cringe-worthy: Sirinis Ag (4-1-11), Salle State (7-3-6), Anhenir (3-3-10), Shentarong Southern (1-4-11), Central Sumbobor (6-4-6), Fekliir State (7-3-6), East Point (6-4-6). Sometimes winning isn't enough; you have to beat the right teams. It probably didn't help that the East Point game was a thorough waxing ending 6-1 in the Roosters' favor.

Also, it was announced before the season started that Southeastern would be banned from the postseason tournament this year by the CSA after an investigation determined that a student-athlete had received improper benefits (CSA rules prohibit players from receiving any form of compensation for competing; note that even athletic scholarships are prohibited, though a student may of course receive academic or need-based scholarships). In practice, this turned out to have no effect as Southeastern managed just three wins all season.

CMSC XXXIX Matchday Twenty-Eight... And this, on the other hand, was the weekend when Port of Clotaire lost the overall lead for the first time this season and dribbled back into second place on goal difference. Losing at the Marbles is no crime, of course and, having failed to beat Cassa’s men in their last three encounters in the space of a week (don’t ask where we slotted in that replay… just don’t…), the Harpies’ll be glad to see the back of them and looking forward to next week’s all-important Clotaire derby. On the face of it, they still have slightly the kinder run-in compared to Albrecht FC – but both sides will also face Caires City away from home. Don’t discount Dionísio’s underdogs entirely just yet.

I think we might have done a few weeks ago, but since when have you paid any attention to us, hm?

Other results saw Turkish win at still-not-sacked-yet-WTF?-Alejandro-da-Costa’s MarquezOW to keep the race for fourth exciting (with all their major rivals for that slot, the Marbles aside, failing to make further headway; while Mayo Valley now need to win every remaining game this season to have any hope of staying up, and will have to do it without an out-for-the-season (and, presumably, forever, muah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha…) Justin Tillström. This is not going to occur.

Albrecht FC 1-0 Cathedral City (Morrison 59)
Arrigo Portuguese 2-2 KT Hotspur (Anderson 21 and 29; Rass 4, Clayton 45)
El din Marbles 2-0 Port of Clotaire (Nixon 18, Hooper og 59)
Green Island 2-1 Mayo Valley (Clayton 8 and 49; Sheppard 24)
Marquez-Onwere 1-2 Albrecht Turkish (Van Dyke 7; Robinson 10 and 74)
McDonald SC 0-0 Tenderville United
NAPPC 0-1 Caires City (Gorrie 3)
Radyukevich CSC 1-1 AFC MN Smith (McDermott 90+1; Budden 12)
Turks’ Club 3-2 Caires Sports (Endekov 16, Peithner og 28, Wetl 88; Majorheily-Orinova 33, Alsheris 49)

Matchday Twenty-Nine… So, two huge fixtures that, frankly, deserve big ol’ match reports of their own, but which aren’t going to get them because there are most important things in the world, like sunshine and bunnies. Happity, hippity, flappy-floppy bunnies. How I do love them so.

So, short versions:

Best. Clotaire. Derby. EVER.

We-ell… It’s up there, certainly. Two-two, an equaliser for the home side deep into second half stoppage time, world-class displays from Tommy Scarborough and Tadhg Ó Lorcáin as they repeated made every other player (and each other, off and on)… lovely stuff. Well done, all. And, I must say, played in the right spirit – i.e. exceptionally bloody. Garrett off, Fox off, and if you don’t like it you can damn well blame the players, not the referee, alright!?!?!

Second short version: Caires City came back from behind to beat the Scorpions and moved to within three points of new-leaders-for-the-second-time Port of Clotaire.

Oh, and technically; Radyukevich, Tenderville and Turkish could still take the honours as well, so… yay.

AFC MN Smith 0-1 Cathedral City (Delara 29)
Albrecht Turkish 0-1 Green Island (Pond 82)
Caires City 2-1 Albrecht FC (East 48, Gorrie 85; Go 20)

Tenderville United 0-1 Arrigo Portuguese (Gómez 14)

Matchday Thirty… As we reach the business end of the season, nerves are certainly setting in.

On the face of it, the team with the least excuse for that kind of behaviour are Albrecht FC, who’re well used to glory and, as we speak, have made it into yet another Champions’ Cup final. Heaven only knows how, all things considered, and we’re only getting a smattering of their games on the telly over here because of… because of… Stuff, so I’m probably not best placed to offer my opinion. Jesse Nakatsuru being utterly wonderful has helped though, certainly. And you cannot undervalue the sheer weight of experience brought by the likes of George Morrison and Francois St. Louis – or William, come to that – who have seen and done it all before. Particularly when you’re facing Raynor City, and other such immortals.

But their overseas campaigns are clearly proving just a little bit distracting, and it was an exhausted Scorpions XI – Torrealba opting to rest a number of key players against the struggling Spur this weekend, but still being forced to send out a group of walking wounded – that toiled to break down the visitors to the TSS. A moment of second-half brilliance from Darren Rass – a nineteen year-old too beautiful for this world or, more particularly, KT Hotspur – gave Giuseppe Abellardo’s chaps a rare and vital victory.

The defeat could prove extremely costly for Albrecht FC, but the emphasis has to be on ‘could’ – for their major rivals also appeared nothing if not lethargic this weekend as the effects of two grinding Globe Cup campaigns kicked in. Second best in Bove, Caires City clung onto a point courtesy of an equalising bustle-and-shot from Harvey Wilkinson, Rass’ most obvious – Candelariasian – rival for the Young Player gong; while Port of Clotaire’s collective head dropped badly after Catedral’s teenage winger Enrique Espínola (where the hell are all these good kids coming from all of a sudden…? Not great timing, people) gave the Marquezians a comeback lead. The Harpies remain top, but the division’s upper echelons, rather thrillingly, now look like this:

Pos Team P W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Port of Clotaire 30 18 5 7 56 35 21 59
2 Albrecht FC 30 17 7 6 51 28 23 58

4 Radyukevich CSC 30 13 11 6 47 39 8 50
5 Tenderville United 30 13 8 9 43 40 3 47

Plenty to play for, then…

AFC MN Smith 1-1 Caires City (Williams og 18; Wilkinson 29)
Albrecht FC 0-1 KT Hotspur (Rass 60)
Caires Sports 2-2 Green Island (Reuberson-Mohammed 1, Muniz Allman 10; Pond 55, Robertson 66)
Cathedral City 2-1 Port of Clotaire (Castillo 39, Espínola 68; Hamblett 31)
Mayo Valley 1-0 Arrigo Portuguese (Darby og 18)
McDonald SC 2-1 Albrecht Turkish (Kenroe 14, Bastard 54; va Drake 2)
Radyukevich CSC 2-1 El din Marbles (Kennedy-Workington 61 and 66; Macanás 90+1)
Tenderville United 1-1 NAPPC (Tibbets 84; Irin’lur 60)
Turks’ Club 1-1 Marquez-Onwere (Wetl 83; Riesgo 45)

Matchday Thirty-One… Are you going t’gamble? What should he do, audience? Should he gamble?

GAMBUUUUULLL!!!!

Jeff?

Yes?

I’m gonna gamble!

HE’S GOING T’GAMBLE, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!

And gamble he did – on the proposition that Nakatsuru and a host of little’uns would be sufficiently fired up by the prospect of making rare starts in the league, beating a bunch of Nethertopians, and possibly, just possibly, giving Torrealba something to think about when it comes to naming his TQCC final XI. So, with the Scorpions facing Tenderville mid-week, just days (although it felt like less… let’s not discuss this now, shall we?) before the Saturday night meeting with Dunboor; the likes of Hamizi, Kouakou Kouamé, Go and William were rested once more. For many, Torrealba was making his priorities perfectly clear here – that winning the Champions’ Cup in his club’s own back yard would mean more than merely winning the crummy old CMSC title. If they could do that as well, it would just be a bonus, and would have to be left in the not-necessarily-capable hands of Jagatprakasa Pankharia, Tara Bekker, Ian Knight, Jake Bullingham, and other people you’ve never heard of. And Nakatsuru. How could they possibly hope to win anything without him?

So Nakatsuru played alongside the kids, and this time Albrecht FC won – not by much, and it was pretty hairy late on until Miss Bekker tied the game up on the breakaway, but it was enough to send them, temporarily at least, to the top of the table.

Come the weekend, then, and Caires City faced Port of Clotaire.

It was quite a good game. You can’t be sniffy about eight goals really, can you?

It sees somewhat churlish to bemoan the PoC’s defensive deficiencies, for their Goals Against record is still no worse than City’s despite this weekend’s… thing. But it’s not unreasonable to suggest that thirty-five year-old Brian Andrews and his Candelarian partner Noah Garrett were exposed by the Errant Knights in a manner that someone really should have done before now. Odd, really, that it took the callow youth and superbly regressive partnership of lanky Quentin and squat Eric to do it.

But do it they did – for this was simply a massacre, and one that may well prove terminal for the Harpies. Now down into third, they remain only two points behind Albrecht FC – but how on Earth are they supposed to shrug off a defeat of such horrific proportions.

Elsewhere, Albrecht Turkish better watch themselves if they want to take even a Globe Cup place with Brandon Qiu and Werner among an extensive injury list, Espy va Drake looking as though he’d really rather be somewhere else entirely already, and Mannasuch resorting to his old trick of chucking in the kids just as the season starts slipping away from him. The Kinsmen (old school nicknames starting to come out of the woodwork now, apparently… you can tell we’re approaching the closing down sale, can’t you?) have a three point lead over Portuguese and (disturbingly) McDonald SC, with the second Albrecht derby of the season still to come. Could be awkward…

Albrecht FC 2-0 Tenderville United (Nakatsuru 39, Bekker 90+3)
Arrigo Portuguese 2-0 Albrecht Turkish (Ramón 22 and 66)
Caires City 6-2 Port of Clotaire (Gorrie 32 and 73, Zoric 38, González 43, Agostinho 68, Gordon og 86; Hamblett 7, Ó Lorcáin 47)
El din Marbles 1-0 Cathedral City (Macanás 36)
KT Hotspur 4-2 AFC MN Smith (Clayton 18 and 31, Collins 61, Salt 61; Nenov 45+1, Simpson 56)
Marquez-Onwere 2-1 Green Island (Van Dyke 15, Brown 83; Whistler 80)
McDonald SC 0-0 Caires Sports
NAPPC 0-0 Mayo Valley
Radyukevich CSC 3-2 Turks’ Club (Narquelie 45, Kennedy-Workington 60, Williams 70; Fox og 23, Wetl 55)

International Round-Up…

Alright, not really a round-up, just a brief moment of crowing on Albrecht FC’s behalf. The Scorpions have certainly continued to buck something of a trend towards Candelariasian sides not doing quite as well as they used to in the Champions’ Cup, and kept up the honour of the CMSC to add to a total of five – count ‘em – five TQCC titles. Aren’t we great?

Anyway, the match ultimately came down to a clash between two Candelariasians – with the Marquezian Jordan Hawker proving unable to control the Candelarian Nakatsuru, who set up Hamizi for two early goals that gave the ‘home’ side a very solid base from which to defend. Tactically, Torrealba got the better of things in the clash between, um, two Candelariasians in the dug-outs; while Lúthien Anwamanë (who we kind of like to think of as one of ours, however boggling that concept may now be in the light of… events…) was probably Dunboor’s best performer and kept Javier Sanchez’s side right in the game and forced Arian to keep on his toes until an eightieth-minute counter saw Kouakou Kouamé slide in the decisive third to send the crowd into, if not raptures (the TSS is state of the art, but it doesn’t make allowances for anti-gravity), then certainly a lot of cheering and hugging. T’was like the post-12/5, XXX league title all over again, really. Except… not. Because of Events.

For the likes of William, this represented pretty much the culmination to a superb career, but no man in Songstress could have been prouder than Matteo Corradini – the club’s legendary former captain having missed out on touching the Champions’ Cup by a matter of months, but on hand to witness his young lad Enrico, trusted by Torrealba to start at full-back in the biggest game in club football, starting a brand new family tradition.

So… well done them! The whole school can have a half-holiday!

CMS Cup Semi-Finals…

Shattered but on an almighty high; the Scorpions struggled against Portuguese in their semi and arguably deserved to lose overall…but didn’t, in fact, and kept up their hopes of a triple (quadruple if you count the Super Cup… but who counts the Super Cup?) as they prepare to face Port of Clotaire in, oh yes, their home stadium.

Someone really should have thought up a way to deal with that eventuality…

Ho hum.

Arrigo Portuguese 2-3 Albrecht FC (Ullrich 6, Gómez 75; Hamizi 21 and 90+3, Go 45)
@ McNeil Bingo Arena, Caires

Port of Clotaire 3-1 Green Island (Gordon 29, Arrigorriagakoa 44, Paterson og 55; J. Aldren 12)
@ Solidarity Stadium, Albrecht

Matchday Thirty-Two… A trip to the rural market town of Hodgehill could well have represented a sizable flollop back down to earth for Albrecht FC, were it not for the fact that Mayo Valley have long since been relegated and lost all heart. Three-nil up inside half an hour; a true drubbing for the Sky Blues seemed in the offing, but the Scorpions have bigger fish to fry in their remaining two games and soon took their feet off the pedal.

For the other two residual challengers, life was altogether harder. Abellardo might not, perhaps foolishly, have identified Andrews and Garrett as the PoC’s weak link (although he’d’ve had a job in any case, given that Muscat opted to start Jamie Alvbåge and everyone’s favourite plastic pedro, James Mag Flannagain, instead), but defensively KT Hotspur were on-song themselves and can always rely on the mercurial talents of Damien Rass to haul them out of a hole. As such, it took until the ninetieth minute for the PoC to snatch victory…

…and move second again, for Caires City’s challenge now rests on a knife edge with defeat at the Marbles on Monday night. It’ll probably take until next season for Cassumba Domingos’ men to be able to turn results like these into a title challenge (except it won’t, obviously, because they won’t have any Sargossans… naha!), but there’s no shame in defeat at La Canica. Even if it does mean that City have a very sizable chunk of points to make up in two games. Four of them, in fact.

So. Albrecht derby, next? Oh, yes please…

Albrecht Turkish 0-1 NAPPC (Izorigor 81)
Caires Sports 3-1 Arrigo Portuguese (Dariegan 25, Alsheris 27, Wilson 51; Ramón 40)
Cathedral City 1-1 Radyukevich CSC (Castillo 19; Williams 89)
El din Marbles 1-0 Caires City (Macanás 31)
Mayo Valley 1-3 Albrecht FC (Sheppard 39; Tekeste 12 and 28, Hamizi 19)
McDonald SC 2-2 Marquez-Onwere (Subudhi 34, Thompson 41; Small 3, Riesgo 77)
Port of Clotaire 2-1 KT Hotspur (Hamblett 77, Sánchez García 90; Rass 51)
Tenderville United 1-2 AFC MN Smith (Holtz 83; Draesh’o 20, Vine 48)
Turks’ Club 1-2 Green Island (Cotton 27; J. Aldren 54, Pond 60)

Matchday Thirty-Three… T’was Saturday morning in Songstress, and the sun did shine o’erhead, when the Scorpions took on their rivals, and… dumpity-dumpity bed. Red. Something red. Dressed all in red. ‘Cept, it’s the home side dressed in red, not…

Poetry sucks.

Anyway. In the anals of history, this particular vintage of Albrecht FC may not be remembered as a truly great team – they need three more points just to finish on a relatively lowly seventy – and probably not an especially beautiful one to watch, either, but one absolutely cannot argue with the fact that what they do they do very well indeed. Over the last few weeks, with tiredness an ever increasing factor, Torrealba’s group have abandoned much of their affection towards possession football and become something of a counter-attacking outfit, but this weekend it did for Turkish every bit as much as Dunboor. As chance after chance were comfortably shunted away by the home side’s defence before even reaching Arian, so Turkish were forced to push further and further forward, betray a near total lack of invention (Espy va Drake is a skrull by this point, there’s no other reasonable explanation) and leave themselves to get caught on the break. Again, and again, and again.

So much for Albrecht Turkish, then. Now it was up to North-East Candelaria’s finest to stop the Scorpions winning a twelfth CMSC title.

Tch. So much for that, then.

Yes, they were playing against useful sides comfortably ensconced within the top half of the table but, when push came to shove, the Errant Knights and the Harpies bottled it like Codd. There’s not much more to say than that. Caires City at least gave it a go, despite trailing at home to the Jukos for much of the game, with Salvador González turning it an equaliser five minutes from time to set up a desperate but ultimately fruitless finish; and the still-assembled masses at the TSS – watching Saturday afternoon’s fixtures on the big screen – were able to celebrate a second, unexpected, victory.

Soo…

What that all meant was that, in the fifteen CMSC seasons taking place during the International Era, five clubs took the ultimate domestic honour – with the Scorpions’ five titles putting them foremost among them. If anyone was keeping some kind of score over the past thirty years, it’s probably fair to say that Albrecht FC have ‘won’.

Albrecht FC 4-1 Albrecht Turkish (Nakatsuru 4, Hamizi 60 and 75, Morrison 78; St. Louis og 41)
Arrigo Portuguese 0-2 Marquez-Onwere (Small 75, Van Dyke 79)
Caires City 1-1 Radyukevich CSC (González 85; Narquelie 12)
Cathedral City 1-0 Turks’ Club (Tiller 20)
Green Island 0-0 McDonald SC
KT Hotspur 0-0 El din Marbles
Mayo Valley 1-0 AFC MN Smith (Gaynor 31)
NAPPC 1-1 Caires Sports (Izorigor 51; Reuberson-Mohammed 33)
Port of Clotaire 1-1 Tenderville United (Hooper 56; Tico 72)

Matchday Thirty-Four… Soo… Relegation, yes. Hm.

The table, rather thrillingly, looked a little something (indeed, quite a lot something… exactly something, in fact) like this:

  13 KT Hotspur 33 9 9 15 32 38 -6 36
14 AFC MN Smith 33 10 6 17 52 60 -8 36
15 Marquez-Onwere 33 9 9 15 33 42 -9 36
16 Turks’ Club 33 8 11 14 46 50 -4 35
17 NAPPC 33 8 11 14 26 35 -9 35
18 Mayo Valley 33 4 7 22 18 54 -36 19 REL

For those five clubs, their season – and quite possibly long-term futures as well – rested on a knife-edge. Financial ruin was from impossible. For the Spur and naranja, serious dollops of honour were at stake, for neither club had ever been relegated from the CMSC1, and were alongside the Albrecht giants, PoC and GIZ as ever-presents during the International Era. And they always would be, of course, on account of it coming to a close… but this was hardly the way that neither Mr Adamczyk nor Snr Wendell (nor, more to the point, the fans; but who gives a toss about them) would’ve wanted to go out.

So…

Shall we? For old time’s sake?

No?

Oh, thank God.

Here’s your news in briefs, then. On the fifth minute, MN Smith appeared to all but save themselves with an Alex Budden putting themselves one-nil up in Hoxton; the Smudgers’ enviable record against their old foes from down the coast, coupled with Turkish pretty much having a Globe Cup place sewn up, leaving most pundits calling survival for Medlin’s boys, girls and assorted Vegans there and then. And it was a similar case at the Hilltop Stadium when KT Hotspur full-back Ryan Elder popped up at the far post to divert Ras Rataran’s early corner into the back of Cockburn Wu’s net. Radyukevich, for their part, had nothing of any intrinsic value left to play for either.

As such, all eyes were on Khatib-Gassett – where Turks’ Club’s green youngsters and refugees from out Dancougar way would surely have enough to get what they needed against the Dons – and Onwere. And surely there too, could MarquezOW’s ludicrous nightmare of a season not result in the relegation of one of the country’s wealthiest clubs?

After nine minutes, it appeared that the giant jelly babies were set to chase us around Tesco’s for another matchday when Crublig Ellad fired in for NAPPC and plunged the naranja deep into the mire; down on goal difference.

On the eightieth minute in Khatib, Jerome Cotton gave Turks’ Club an equaliser to Jaival Subudhi’s sliced opener and once again allowed the Candelarians to leapfrog Alejandro Blanco da Cruz’s men and squat out of danger – but they, and NAPPC, could not account for the brilliance of Ishmael Van Dyke.

The old-timer has his own wiki page, after all. It was about time he did something of real note.

This consisted of powering through Van Syle and Dotos to score against his former side and leave the naranja clinging to survival by a point.

Except…

Except that we all discovered soon after that NAPPC and Tenderville were buggering off from whence they came, and that Turks’ Club’s relegation would be rescinded in order to maintain the top division at eighteen teams.

So. So much for all that, then.

CMS Cup Final… WAAAAAAAAAAAAAIT!!!!!

For there t’was still the CMS Cup final – and, perhaps fittingly, perhaps not, it ultimately became the very first in thirty-nine editions to go to penalties.

And almost certainly fittingly, the winning spot-kick was put away by brave young Enrico Corradini and, undoubtedly fittingly, the cup was lifted by Francois St. Louis, the player with the most CMSC1 appearances of the International Era – of the first International Era – under his belt.

There was joy, there were tears, there were black armbands and presentations, and a small child chocked to death on his own vomit (but let’s not let it spoil the afternoon), and everyone – Albrecht FC fans, Port of Clotaire fans and neutrals, men and women, boys and girls, one or two gnomish folk, several physic octopuses and much of the turf – joined hands, tentacles and blades in a rousing rendition of You’ve Got a Friend in Me, until some fucker called the police and the whole ghastly business ended in a fist-fight.

But it was all mildly diverting while it lasted, wouldn’t you say? We ‘ad a laff, didn’t we? Didn’t we have a laff.

Reorganization after Meddician Independence

Napoliroma, Tarrentum - With the end of occupation and hostilities between the Allied States of Tarrentum and the newly re-recognized Separatist Kingdom of Meddicia, the ties between the TPFL and the MLF (Meddician League Football) have been severed. TPFL authorities announced at a brief press conference that the Tarrentum Sports Committee has declared the joint association of the TPFL and MLF to be null and void. Meddician authorities have already taken control of MLF operations and funds and have begun to control the day-to-day operations of the league.

Becuase of the political separation between Tarrentum and, the now independent, Meddicia, the MLF should now be recognized as a Top Tier Organization for TQCC25. No decision was announced at the press conference for the development of a new "feeder" organization for Tarrentum but some close to the TSC have hinted at the takeover of the National Tarrentum Collegiate Committee's soccer oversight. However such a proposition would lead to the bastardization of collegiate soccer in the nation.

The Damasa City Seals again finished top of the league and Paul Madrigal top of the goal scorers at the end of the Elemanu National League season. Damasa suffered only six goals and one loss (a close game against third place Orcas) in the last twelve games to wrap up the season on top of the Penguins, whose incredible start to the season was more mediocre; 7-9-2 win-draw-loss with 18-8 for-against in the last 15 games. However, star keeper Erik Novy kept his crown for the fourth season in a row. The Amori West Orcas will be playing the Kesser City Skuas in the playoff, where they finished 3rd and 4th, while Oceanview City Cats were the best of the rest. The Amori City Lions will be relegated next season, along with new team Duck River Ducks who only managed two wins and ten goals the entire season; other new team Norton Rats were more than safe, finishing in tenth place.

Tarrentum Premier Football League, 2012 Season (Season 3)

The TPFL started off the season in a sense of disbelief and "finding themselves." After the separation of the TPFL and MLF (Meddician League Football) due to the independence of Meddicia the TPFL found themselves without an adequete "feeder" league in which to place their developing and mid-range players. This forced many a professed "professional footballers" out of a job as MLF kicked a good portion of Tarrentian footballers from its ranks. Yet Season 3 is currently underway.

Now at the mid-point of the season, the TPFL is garnering more attention after Napoliroma's club (the Legion) went into the mid rounds of the 24th TQCC. Many newspaper and television analysts have the Legion returning to the TQCC in Aeropag to take part in the 25th installment of the TakilQuip Championships.

Surprise off-season moves were announced with twoZarblese players gobbled up by Tarrentian clubs. Tre Da La, based in Trumboi, signed Mauro Sanvi (CDM) and Krozuy Academics purchased the rights to Ali Hamlahamla a CB. So far, Hamlahamla's defensive play has brought continued success to the Academics while Sanvi is still finding his way around Trumboi's quick attack while adjusting to his more offensively-minded midfielder role. Though Tre Da La's GM Turio Docca has come under heat, sometimes from Sanvi in a roundabout way, for using his new acquisition out of his traditional role, Docca has remained firm that Sanvi will prove that he is a great offensive player - he just doesn't know it yet.

A look at the records shows that the Legion are indeed on their way to another appearance in the TQCC with stellar defense by last year's major transfer, Cedric Harriot. The surprise this year in the South Division is FC McSquiggie's jump to second place behind Napoliroma. The Apollonian club is doing it more through sheer determination more than anything else but do they have the personnel to keep it going throughout the remaining 17 games?

The Academics have jumped out to lead the TPFL in points for the first time during the mid-point of any season. However the Academics only have a two win lead over Walli Walli FC for tops in the North Division.

The Legion are once again in a comfortable lead atop the South Division with an eight point gap between their club and Apollonian's Own (FC McSquiggie). However the real player other than the Legion in the South is FC Yuppers who have the superior goal differential then McSquiggie and have historically finished very strong.

Stay tuned to see the exciting outcome of the 3rd TPFL Season!

So.

Last season was a bit of an aberration, I'll concede. For one thing, I was a bit more removed from the whole process. It would have been harder for me to fix the results, had I wanted to. Which I didn't. Alianza Ciruelas were hardly title favorites, but they won, and that was that. Unión de Ciudagua were at that point the defending champions, though they'd merely finished third in the previous season, so a second-place finish shouldn't have been too surprising. And Mapabore Juventud, for their part, had been second and fourth respectively; once again, third place wasn't a particularly world-shocking result.

The last time Ciruelas had been to the TQCC was when the national team was just getting off the ground. They'd earned a return trip, of course, but weren't really in our top tier for a while. Mapabore, on the other hand, were, according to the UICA coëfficients, Aguazul's best team. So, on the one hand, it wasn't really fair that they only had the Globe Cup to deal with, but on the other hand, Ciruelas had to deal with the TQCC crowd. The coëfficients tend to lag behind our more prosaic ranks, but it should even out in the long run. I hope. Don't want to win illicitly.

This happened during the Vahala Invitational, which from our perspective came before the UICA tournaments.

Unión de Ciudagua, who are sort of used to the TQCC stuff, defeated New Haverford Albion. Ojedo Cerro lost to EC Elville, but CD Quemavilla beat Rode Ster Amsterdam. Trecelunas FC shut out Sembulan; while there's nothing wrong with having two teams from the same city both compete in the UICA at the same time, it is a little disorienting when both of them bear the city's name in their own. Anyway, Trecelunas helped the cause in a sense by being eliminated by Iskara Daii before things could get too confusing. Took them away goals to do it, granted, but eliminated they were nonetheless.

Unión de Ciudagua beat the Neurologists, and were perhaps fortunate to do so--Neurologists are hardly as recognizable a name in Aguazul as many of their now-counterparts, but now they're in the top ten. All three remaining SBCC teams won their playoff round matchups, and Estudiantes de Íguen scored four against Club Stein-los. Twice! Then they beat FC Yuppers. Mapabore Juventud, for their part, began inauspiciously with a loss to Woodstock Wild. That said, they'd relied on lots of tiebreakers on their path to the TQCC final, and duly progressed on an away goal.

Once again, Alianza Ciruelas produced an UICA (a UICA?) scoreline quite unlike their domestic ones, to the tune of 6-0 over Ibini FC. On the other hand, they also produced a 5-2 under Noka Mariners, and were duly eliminated by head-to-head goal difference. Unión de Ciudagua needed head-to-head points to top their group, but they would have qualified anyway. The SBCC crowd finished 1-2-3, albeit in three different groups. Estudiantes de Íguen's home games in the group stage featured five goals for all teams between them...all in the same match. They came third in their group, though. Maybe they could have used more Cabañas effect in the TCA. Mapabore Juventud, anyway, topped their group without too much trouble. They scored just two against Romans at home, granted, but that was enough.

Unión de Ciudagua lost to Petardos S/A, so maybe topping their group wasn't all that useful, although Cafundó do Juta lost more heavily and couldn't have been drawn against Petardos either, so either those cancel each other out or...not, anyway, whatever. Everyone cheered CSD Trecelunas' win against Real Jraxville FC, and CA Condadore's eight-goal performance against Fenians Sport Club was pretty popular too.

They met in the quarterfinals, beginning in Trecelunas. The hosts got on the scoreboard first, with a short tap from Castañon Terranova, but Condadore eventually equalized through Alfonso Plazas.

Of course, it was CA Condadore and CSD Trecelunas who had met for the Clausura title on the last day of the previous season. They'd drawn, 2-2. CSD Trecelunas won the title on goal difference.

So down to Condadore they went, and Condadore knew what they had to do; they broke through first with a goal from Mariana Juarez. But CSD Trecelunas (they're good, but not good enough to be identified without the CSD--I'm telling you, this just makes things more complicated) scored quickly on either side of the half, and the equalizer was little consolation. That said, the new hosts were more revitalized for extra time than their opponents, but couldn't score again.

Onward went Trecelunas, where by "onward" is meant "right back up north to their home stadium, to host Webley Stadium". A scoreless draw really was not CSD Trecelunas (upon glancing upward, um, oops)' plan, at least for that leg; a nervous, unadventerous, scoreless draw would have been just the thing once they were actually in Webley Stadium, so long as they'd scored a goal or maybe two, just so they wouldn't have to drag away goals into it. Instead, they drew scorelessly, and fell 2-0 behind at Webley. They attacked, which really is sort of their thing, and finally did score only to concede once again.

Alianza Ciruelas were similarly disgruntled at needing to score, and not managing enough, in Caires, and went on to lose again at home. Mapabore Juventud did get the first-leg, away, scoreless draw...in Naquada Falls, and another scoreless draw at home, to boot.

Turns out, this was actually a rematch of the first knockout round in TQCC18. Mapabore had needed tiebreakers then, and they needed some in the Globe Cup as well; the shooters on both teams had improved, or been replaced, but one missed shot was still all it took to send Mapabore through. Maybe it hit the left post last time, and the right post that time, or something.

Mapabore beat Psychiatrists 2-0 at home, then held on for a 1-1 draw away; it worked so well, one presumes, they did the same thing against Caires City. Then came Qidade Savana; a 4-3 loss following up a 1-0 win was just fodder for even more away-goal success. And so...to the Tiger Whale Stadium, in Seoan, for the big game.

Given that El Nacional had won the TQCC when Mapabore were eliminated in the quarterfinals, their presence in that game made Mapabore's seem just about decent. As it happened, it was tall Osmundo Sámarez who headed in the winning goal, only fifteen minutes in, but that proved to be all the scoring there would be. Mapabore were, in fact, the first finalist (and by extension, champion) of the Globe Cup who did not participate in Globe Cup 1, and, of course, Aguazul's first winners of any club tournament.

There was also the Super Cup. Mapabore confounded our general sense of timing once again by drawing scorelessly at home against Gamboa. Actually, the eventual 4-2 defeat in Albrecht was a pretty good game, all things considered, if truly one-sided in the end. And the table was sorted by a takilan conspiracy, which...Mapabore really don't care about.

Anyway, we have a trophy, which is cool. And, if there was any lingering sentiment about the lack of fairness of it all, we're somehow the fifth-ranked association now, brilliant corroboration of the Lopez Principle in light of the...oh never mind, Vahala Invitational. But anyway, under-entering time again!

Primera División

Unión de Ciudagua and Alianza Ciruelas are both very good teams. In fact, they're as good as any team in the country, UICA coëfficients notwithstanding, and it really doesn't make sense to think about teams better than either of them because, right now, none of them are in the league. So, if we've gotten all the kinks worked out, this should be slightly more sane...

Okay, so. There were two teams in the running for the title on the last day of the season, although there aren't that many matchdays so it's not that big a deal. Mapabore Juventud were three points back but with a better goal differential; they needed to win and have Trecelunas FC beat Unión de Ciudagua. They drew, Unión de Ciudagua won, and the latter won another title.

   Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts
1 Unión de Ciudagua 18 11 4 3 34 22 +12 37 C/TQCC
2 Mapabore Juventud 18 8 8 2 26 13 +13 32 TQCC
3 Deportivo Peralta 18 7 5 6 27 21 +6 26 TQCC
4 Trecelunas FC 18 6 7 5 15 15 +0 25 GC
5 Estudiantes de Íguen 18 7 3 8 16 16 +0 24 GC
6 Ojedo Cerro 18 5 7 6 27 25 +2 22
7 Alianza Ciruelas 18 4 10 4 20 19 +1 22
8 San Pablo 18 4 8 6 21 34 -13 20
9 CA Condadore 18 5 3 10 17 28 -11 18
10 Piratas de Grisolon 18 3 5 10 14 24 -10 14

In third come Deportivo Peralta, with a wiki page and all. Admittedly, this process involves going back, looking at scores, and retroactively reclassing goals as of the own variety to make things work, but it's off to the TQCC with them nonetheless. There were enough goals for them (they scored five on matchdays eleven and thirteen, bracketing matchday twelve when they conceded five to Unión de Ciudagua), and for everyone else too. The shock of the season might well have come two matchdays in, when newly-promoted Ojedo Cerro defeated Unión 6-1. Frustrated, Unión scored six of their own upon their return to San Pablo, though the quest for revenge failed somewhat due to being against the Pumas.

And yet, there was still defense in store, particularly on the part of our Globe Cup representatives. Trecelunas FC and Estudiantes de Íguen both scored as (in)frequently as they conceded. There's a tie for sixth, just to show how useful our system is; Ojedo Cerro are settling in, while Alianza Ciruelas...drew. A lot. Four consecutive 1-1s won't help.

Segunda División

   Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts
1 Blén CA 18 13 2 3 39 16 +23 41 C/SBCC
2 CSD Trecelunas 18 11 4 3 31 13 +18 37 SBCC
3 CD Quemavilla 18 10 0 8 42 32 +10 30 SBCC
4 Arcrés Millos 18 6 8 4 34 35 -1 26 SBCC
5 2 de abril 18 7 3 8 12 14 -2 24
6 Universidad de Dénprade 18 7 2 9 27 31 -4 23
7 12 de noviembre 18 5 7 6 20 22 -2 22
8 Lobernians 18 5 5 8 18 20 -2 20
9 ICD Villago 18 4 3 11 11 24 -13 15
10 Destello 18 3 4 11 9 36 -27 13

Okay, losing 6-1 doesn't help. Particularly when you're starting the season and trying to convince everyone that no, it's all right, this time through you really do have a positive number of ranking points and are actually going to accumulate points during the season. Such was the fate of Destello upon the resim.

And then they picked up a point the very next matchday and went on to finish only two points out of ninth place. Good job.

First place went to Blén CA, in just their third season since returning to the second division and trying to make the Centro Deportivo Nacional live up to its grandiose name. CSD Trecelunas, somewhat ironically, have the division's best defense despite actually being an attacking team (Blén CA are neutral), while CD Quemavilla are a rather less surprising source of its best offense. They're also the first team in any division that's had tables to go a whole season without draws. Arcrés Millos round up the SBCC contingent despite a negative goal difference. Losing 2-9, one suspects, doesn't help either.

Globe Cup stadium bid: Estadio Taturgo, Trecelunas (45,000)
SBCC bid: Centro Deportivo Nacional, Blén (33,000)

29th International University Challenge Championship presented by AT

Welcome to the twenty-ninth edition of the IUCC, the premier tournament for university football teams around the multiverse!

A total of 24 institutions from eight nations were entered into this year's tournament. There will be no qualifying phase in this edition; all entrants will proceed directly to the group stage. There will be four groups of six teams playing a double round robin. The top two finishers in each group will proceed to the knockout stages.

Prior to this edition, the IUCC's ranking system was given a long-overdue and extensive overhaul. The new system is almost identical to the coefficient system used by the TakilQuip Champions' Cup, Globe Cup, and Series B Champions' Cup. The primary difference is that while the UICA coefficients cover the last five tournament cycles, the new IUCC rankings will cover only three cycles. The reasoning behind this is that, under normal circumstances, a university team should not have any athletes in common with the team from four years prior (the IUCC organizers assume that said students are in fact present primarily to gain an education and are thus on track for timely graduation).

Starting with this edition, a full association and school coefficient spreadsheet will be made available at the end.

Here are the new association coefficients prior to IUCC29:
  1. Academy Sporting Association [Paripana] - 51.52
  2. Candelaria And Marquez - 44.65
  3. Vephrall - 41.95
  4. Sorthern Northland - 19.52
  5. Taeshan - 12.08
  6. Dancougar - 11.00
  7. Ad'ihan - 10.73
  8. Liventia - 8.00
  9. Daehanjeiguk - 5.13
  10. West Zirconia - 2.00

Of these associations, Taeshan, Dancougar, and West Zirconia have not entered this edition. Meanwhile, we welcome Delaclava to the tournament for the first time.

School coefficients (top ten plus top school from each other association):
1. Van Prooijen University - 75.07
2. Novaria Technical Institute - 59.82
3. Woodruff Culinary Institute - 57.17
4. Sumbobor State University - 42.23
5. Bektys Technological Institute - 37.38
6. Beningrad University of the Bleeding Obvious - 37.21
7. Evestigatus Institute of the Arts - 34.42
8. Universidad de Castillo - 34.28
9. Ciudad Española, Universidad Isabela González de Arrigo - 32.38
10. Arrigo Polytechnic - 32.28
22. Thane College - 22.17
24. Air Force - 21.13
25. Technical Institute at Hatton - 18.38
33. Folenisa University - 9.87
44. Seoan Cheonma Academy - 6.11
49. Bradley University - 4.67

The group draw is as follows, with the highest-ranked teams at the top (draw conducted to ensure no two entrants from the same association appear in the same group):

Goddag, Gaardsøe'he! Hejida Hjalte

The Allnordhavn midfielder Hjalte Gaardsøe was signed by the Lajik club Ltianhama Kimi, which despite its low finish, just one step above relegation aspires to win the H1SR. Manager Viskore Ja-Nhi has described the 18 year old, who is rumoured to be a candidate for the national team of Aalnordhavn, as a very skillful player who has a great future in front of him.

The press conference revealed that the team has given up on even attempting to sensibly transliterate the name of the U21 national into either Lajikin or Rejistanian so that his kit will show the name in Latin characters and 'h-ja-lte' in Lajik letters (the dashes are only an artifact of re-transliteration). The lajik script is written downwards and used to write both the Lajik as well as the Seleken language. Ltianhama is the only H1SR club to include writing in this alphabet on the kits of the players. The original reason used to be the lack of fluency in rejistanian and H1SR regulations, but now, it is just due to regional pride.

Hjalte admitted that the rejistanian language seemed to be very difficult to him due to the 'many syllables in every word and the similar sounds'. He did delight the Lajik by saying that he looked forward to the time there in Lajik.

Elemanu National League Championships 505

Playoff
Amori West Orcas 1-0 Kesser City Skuas

The result was the same as last years, but the game was finished in the tenth minute with a goal to Ryan Fredette, and the Orcas holding off the Skuas for the remainder of the game. The win sees the Orcas take on cross town rivals the Penguins in a rematch of last years semifinal.

Semifinal
Amori East Penguins 2-2 Amori West Orcas (3-2 AET)

If the Penguins thought they could walk over the Orcas again, they were sorely mistaken. Veterean striker Jami Olliff opened up the game in the 21st minute, his goal just too quick for Orcas keeper Fernando Laub, but Amori West's star Ryan Fredette hit back just five minutes later to even up the game with a well placed header. The Penguins went up again in the 59th minute thanks to Elsie Gillenwater, but rookie Christian Render caught Amori Easts star keeper Erik Novy napping to even it up again with ten minutes to go in the match. Some late chances threatened to break the deadlock, but eventually the local derby went into overtime. Pride of Amori Elsie Gillenwater finally won the game for the Penguins with five minutes left, purely outclassing the keeper off a strike, and sending them into the fourth Damasa City final in four years.

Final
Damasa City Seals 0-1 Amori East Penguins

Desptie a two to one finals record in favour of the home team, the Penguins were boosted by the facts that they were the reigning champions and that this would be the Seals's captain Paul Madrigal's last game before moving to the Foroch Raiders in Tyrrin. The Seals wanted to send their captain away on a high, but in the seventh minute, Elsie Gillenwater struck again, sending Amori East into a lead that would never be given up. With the best defense in the nation, and unquestionably the best keeper Elemanu had ever seen in Erik Novy, the Penguins shook off everything the Seals had to throw at them. In the end, Madrigal could not gain the third Championship crown in his last game, and the Penguins celebrated two championships in a row.

International qualification

TQCC: Amori East Penguins
Globe Cup: Damasa City Seals, Amori West Orcas, Kesser City Skuas

INTRODUCING LIGA JESSERIZTAN
PART 2

We are very close to the first ever season of Liga Jesseriztan. Everyone in Jesseriztan is talking about it now, except for the few Hockey Canada-born Jesseriztani (their dreams of a Jesseriztan Hockey League will never be a reality). We have had a glimpse of breath-taking performance from takilan-Mecazza and karelan-Ruhedorf, more moments like that will surely not hurt.

As of now, the only thing that is needed to be achieved is the place in Superliga Jesseriztan. Mecazza has shown their intention by appointing 1-time Meistrliiga champion with Dinamo Karrakiv, Gustav Chevlenko as their manager. Takilan fever hits the capital city even more with the signing of a Somewhereistonian promising winger, Konstantin Tuhacevskij from Hawks Sporting Academy. Gustav Chevlenko will also bring 2 of his former players from Dinamo Karrakiv with him, Oleksandr Paabo and Yuri Kogerman.

Another early favourite, Ruhedorf has only made 1 signing so far. They signed a 32-years old central midfielder, Malachev Danzinski from Dinamo Karrakiv. It seems that the major exodus of Dinamo Karrakiv has really benefit Liga Jesseriztan with another team, Azravabad signing a former Dinamo Karrakiv player, Deska Kashniik. Apart from that, there are very little transfer activity around Jesseriztan with most teams still rely on the local players.

With the transfer window closed, the action begins. The attention is on the winner's pool. 32 teams are divided into 4 groups with the top 2 teams from each group qualifies to play in Superliga Jesseriztan and the bottom 2 of each groups will play in the second division, Primeraliga Jesseriztan.

GROUP A
Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts
1 Mecazza 6 5 1 0 22 5 +17 16
2 Soderborg 6 2 3 1 8 7 +1 9
3 Joyonghan 6 2 2 2 11 10 +1 8
4 Darulabad 6 0 0 6 2 21 -19 0

Takilan football prevail! Mecazza's investment is clearly not a waste. 22 goals in 6 games, that's what takilan football will give you. Surprisingly, Mecazza also kept 4 clean sheets in those 6 games, only conceding in the first game to Soderborg and in an away game to Joyonghan which is also the last game of the group. Mecazza will surely be the side to watch in Superliga Jesseriztan. Joining them from Group A will be a side from the State of Stenalia, Soderborg.

GROUP B
Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts
1 Nifzil 6 4 1 1 15 5 +10 13
2 Gracientera 6 4 1 1 11 8 +3 13
3 Gunosukod 6 2 2 2 6 9 -3 8
4 Kota Setara 6 0 0 6 2 12 -10 0

This group shows that the teams from the State of Liniusawa is still behind in terms of football. The biggest state in Jesseriztan has 2 representatives in this group and both of them can't snatch the spot in Superliga Jesseriztan. It is Nifzil and Gracientera who managed to get the 2 precious spots.

GROUP C

The advent of the Cyanea Joint League featuring eight Sarzonian teams and eight Delaclav teams playing each other over the course of a 30-match schedule has seen the former top flight national league, the Sarzonian Football Confederation, lose much of the media coverage and attendance.

It also saw the loss of one team, F.C. Saugerties, which played as the "second team" in the Woodstock metropolitan area, cease operations. A new team representing Wilson joined as an expansion side.

The 12 teams conducted their most ambitious season after the defection of eight teams to the CJL yet. When the Rochester Rogues became the first Sarzonian team to be relegated from the CJL, the team spent unprecedented sums to bring in foreign free agents and outbid the two most successful Sarzonian clubs, the Portland Timbers and the Woodstock Wild, for young talent.

Rochester won the Northern Division going away, meaning that it would be the overall top seed for the four-team playoffs. The Phoenix Flames capitalised on its new position without the traditional Sarzonian powerhouse teams to win the Southern Division handily. They would be joined by two Southern Division foes, the Townshend Terror and the New Lincoln Locomotiv in single-match knockouts.

The results are as follows:

Semifinals
Rochester Rogues 2-0 Phoenix Flames
New Lincoln Locomotiv 2-0 Pensacola Power

Final
Rochester Rogues 3-2 New Lincoln Locomotiv (3-2 agg)

Rochester win the SFC title for just the second time in their history. More important, should a Sarzonian team be relegated, they will capture the next berth in the CJL.

Tarrentum Premier Football League, 2012 Season (Season 3)

The TPFL wrapped up it's third season with the rathering unsurprising dominance by the Napoliroma Legion in the South Division. The Legion once again go into the Premier Cup as the top-ranked club.

The Krozuy Academics also took the North Division by storm and look to finally upset Napoliroma, should they both reach the Premier Cup finals.

Tre Da La made good use of their Zarblese acquisition, Mauro Sanvi, and finished second in the South Division, earning them the fourth seed in the PC Playoffs. Walli Walli FC, Lake Empress Brewsers and FC Yuppers round out the PC Playoff clubs.

Tarrentum Premier Football League, 2012 Premier Cup Results

The first day of Premier Cup matches saw Walli Walli FC take on Tre Da La and Lake Empress Brewsers take on FC Yuppers.

The Walli's scored in the 54' against Tre Da La and never had to do more than that, winning 1-0 over the Trumboi club.
The Yupping Yuppers went to town on the Lake Empress club and scored two early goals to win easily 2-0.

The second day of Premier Cup matches had the Legion playing FC Yuppers in the day game and the Academics playing Walli Walli in the night game at Imperial Stadium.

Napoliroma easily handled the Yupping Yuppers, much to the chagrin of Alexander Italiana (owner of the FC Yuppers). The Legion jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 10' minute then added another goal in the 40'. The Yuppers responded on a brilliant header by Grei Hulossi in the box at the 67' but the Legion were too much as Zastro netted his second goal of the contest at the 80 minute mark to take the lead, and the win, 3-1.

The Academics thoroughly dominated the Walli's 4-0 with an uncharacteristic offensive breakout. Goals were scored in the 25', 42', 75' and 85' minutes by Krozuy.

In the two game home-n-home finals Napoliroma hosted the first game between the two teams.
Results:
Napoliroma Legion (Napoliroma) 1–1 Krozuy Academics (Krozuy) (1–1 AET) (1–2 pen.) (1-1 agg)
Krozuy Academics (Krozuy) 1–0 Napoliroma Legion (Napoliroma) (1-2 agg)

The exciting two game series saw the might Legion finally fall to the mountain team from up north! Krozuy's pressing defense kept the Legion under wraps. Jusef Zastromanami's arrogance led to a yellow card in the first match after his goal and then he later had a harsh tackle against Krozuy MID Tre Bottami which led to a second yellow and a red - keeping him out of the final game. This was the deciding factor as the Cedric Harriot led defense couldn't do everything for the Legion.
