Cosumar (COS) qualifiers
Champions’ Cup: Cassandra City
Globe Cup: Eastweald, Klyde, Crawford City FC
Series B Champions’ Cup: Zakhoro Aces, IFK Aldenskoett, Versiaville SC
Cygnus Cup: Klyde
AOCL: Cassandra City

Cosumar (COS) final site bids
Champions Cup 61: Orangi Stadium, Crawford (capacity 61,000)
The Venue: A beautiful open-roof stadium that was built only six years ago with a sunny ambiance that matches its city. Many seats have a view of Lake Crawford beyond. It was constructed specifically for both Association Football and Gridiron Football, so its regular tenants are Crawford City FC (Globe Cup participants this year) and the Crawford Comrades of the CFL. Orangi Stadium recently hosted several games in the World Bowl with great success and has hosted important soccer matches within Cosumar such as high-profile National Team friendlies and King's Cup semifinals. Its naming rights are owned by Orangi Beverages, Inc., the largest bottler of fruit-flavored sodas in Cosumar. Its standard orange soda is the second-most popular drink in west-coast Cosumar behind only water.

The Area: Located in Cosumar's semi-tropical southwest, Crawford has 365-days-a-year sunshine. Known as "the capital of the West", it is the only city of at least 5 million west of our Central Desert. The total population is just over 7 million, making Crawford the fifth-most populous city in Cosumar. Huge variety of lifestyles here, including the largest Vloo population of any mainland city (intelligent blue-skinned humanoid species native to Cosumar's Western Isles), with a colorful night scene (literally - neon lights everywhere) swirling with the sounds of the famous punk rock and blues scenes. Crawford sports fans are stereotypes as fickle and fairweather, but they'll turn out in droves for a freaking Champions' Cup. Visiting teams and fans can have a good of a time on the water at Lake Crawford, which the city sits on the edge of. It's not a large lake, but there are kayaking, swimming, and sailing opportunities aplenty. 30 minutes east of Crawford is Everlong Rainforest, a large swath of preserved jungle and swamp - in case alligators, toucans and sloths are more your thing. If you don't feel like driving/hiking to see the indigenous wildlife, Crawford also happens to have the largest zoo in Cosumar - with a self-sustaining population of the rare Cosumarite spotted elephant.

Season 1905

The titles returns once more to Titanes who are looking to establish to all of Thalamascia that they are the best club in the nation. With Phoenixux dropping to third and outside the top two, they are left without the chance to prove themselves once more in the CEdC, as Panethokoi get that opportunity thanks to a mere points difference between the two clubs while Titanes was running away with the league. The CEdC has not been especially kind to the Thalamascian clubs in their first two entries but with Titanes looking to be in the best of shapes since the inception of the Superleague, you can bet that they are looking to serve notice not just to the nation but to the whole region about the type of club that they believe themselves to be. Being the Queen's favorite certainly helps matters, with that royal funding probably being the reason why they have elevated to the type, but we will have to see whether that domestic success can be turned into international form.

EDITION XVII

Procedural Notes:

The seventeenth edition of the Campionato Esportivano di Campeones welcomes thirty two teams from sixteen associations, being this a decrease of seven nations and fourteen teams compated to the last edition of the Campionato Esportivano di Campeones.
Considering the number of participants, all the teams that qualified to the Campionato will go automatically to the First Round Proper, the following with the Round of 16 and so on in the typical format.

Final Site Selection:

Some members of the Federazione Esportiva di Gioco Calcio decided to throw paper planes made with Coronas (Guayabalense national currency) and make them fly over a paper shredder in a library near the centre of San Salvador during a payday, three children with shirts of the national teams of Omerica, Gregoryisgodistan and San José Guayabal were standing at the other side of the shredder, the method of venue picking was easy: the child who catches the plane which will be thrown away from the shredder will take the Final to the nation represented on his/her shirt. It started and two of the banknotes were shredded, the third was going straight to the childs, the one wearing the Gregoryisgodistani shirt fell over the child wearing the Guayabalense shirt and the child wearing the Omerican shirt catched the banknote after jumping above the other two childs, hence the Prins Mikäel Pärk (Omerica) will host the 17th CEdC Final, being the first time that Omerica will host the final of the most prestigious regional tournament exclusively for clubs.

Campionato Esportiva XVI - Final

At Prins Mikäel Pärk, Port Michael, Omerica.

(BRE) Rozelle 0-0 Alianza FC (SJG) (0-2 AET)

Scorinated by The Royal Kingdom of Québec.

The Final of the Campionato Esportivano di Campeones saw how two teams entered for their first time ever to this stage of the Tournament, Rozelle from Brenecia a nation that already have sent two teams to the finals and both of them lose, and Alianza FC from San José Guayabal, being the first time that a Guayabalense team made it to this stage, would be the third time charm for Brenecian teams or the Guayabalense team would pull out a surprise? Prins Mikäel Pärk and the fans who packed the stadium were witnesses of a very strategical and hard fought game during the first ninety minutes, finishing 0-0 in the ninety minutes and then going for thirty additional minutes in order to seek for a winner, without need of sudden death, Alianza FC took the trophy to their accolades and this is their first regional title. Congratulations to Alianza FC and commiserations to Rozelle

Season 1973

It's a tough pill to swallow in Paulinthal this season as a season after they did the domestic double, they find themselves without a trophy at all, falling inexplicably at home to third tier Celesthem FC in the Round of Sixteen of the Copa, while slipping into second, four points adrift of unexpected champions Tanrısal. Tani rode a campaign that saw them find draws from defeats and victories from draws, narrowing their losses to single digits and having just enough to scrape themselves into top spot in a campaign where a mere seventy-one points was enough to win. Normally such a point haul would be third or fourth, yet Tani lucked out this campaign and find themselves with their first title in three years. You can be sure that they are now relishing their chances both in the Champions' Cup as well as the Copa de Campeones, while CAP will no doubt look to vent their frustrations in the CC as well and try to find their way back into the group stage.

Speaking of the Copa, Turkish and Galatica played to a thrilling nine goal, extra time affair that saw Turkish slip through on a goal in the one hundred fifteenth minute, salvaging an otherwise really poor campaign that saw them finish in the lower midtable. However the Copa success means that they will be back into the Globe Cup for a second straight season, a nice turn of fortune for the historic club that had recent fallen on poor times. You have to wonder just how much longer Turkish and Club Stein-los can live on old reputation alone though, sooner or later they are going to have to contend with and probably win a title if they are going to continue to attract the better talent in Stein-los, especially with Tanrısal finding their championship form. Galatica and Baskita finishing third and fourth will ensure that the capital will have their voice heard in the GC as well, as Galatica will no doubt be pleased with a very good campaign both in the league and the Copa.

For the first time in a while, Sunrisian fans actually could sit down and see their domestic teams on the field against their actual rivals. The Nationals, introduced by Jean Mulhouse, head of the USIFC were invented in order to guarantee a schedule that helps out teams that couldn't make ends meet with the usual Sunrisian Championship and also teams that were lodged out from the reformed Sunrisian Championship format. Bigger teams, mostly Sunrisian Championship A sides have something else to look forward to in these tournaments. Following the lack of representatives from Eastern Sunrise, the USIFC now uses the Nationals as a way to guarantee each country can send representatives to their tournaments.

The Big Four certainly made a lot of noise with their tournaments, for one. Northern Sunrise's Vaporeon Trophy saw a toe-to-toe battle where the Neuville Scythers, backed by Farf debuting wonder Alêxìs Rúís and what could be one of the most solid, if not AO-ian, sides in the history of Northern Sunrise Islands drew first blood on the season, winning the first Vaporeon Trophy on the very last match against the Granger Dragonites, who also shown their newest acquisitions such as Kirisaki international Tsumugi Narita. The Scythers also edged off the Matthew Senators, who made waves with Bo Foureleven on the back and Osarian Raul Salvati up front and were almost title bound and Lylat Starfox, improving their performances after raiding the Kirisaki market of teams that would also be involved with Sunrisian matters on this very part of the season. There was no relegation, however, in order to reach a number of teams considered "acceptable" for Northern Sunrisian patterns. Six teams were promoted in Matthew Mets, Suichiba Sotara, Saintragler Halberds, Byrd Spitfires, Fernando de Honduras and Joinville 14ers. Maybe the biggest surprise emanating from the second division are Saintragler Halberds, rivals of the one and done Saintragler Rovers that popped up top briefly a while ago.

Flareon Trophy, the title for Southern Sunrise, ended up on the hands of the Aurora Sylveons, a traditional side from the Heartlands of Southern Sunrise. The title for the Sylveons hails mostly from the good gloves of Daineri young goalkeeper Levesque and capable feet of Cloud Strike, already five years in the team. Their competition, consisting mostly of already experienced teams from the region such as San Guerrero, Jericho Lionhearts and Division A side Danielson City ended up either lacking the heart or interest to catch up to the Sylveons, however one team somehow decided to revive itself midway. Rayo Central CF, near neighbors of San Guerrero found themselves on the middle of the table around ten matchweeks left. In came up a surprising series of wins that, sadly, will not be retributed in Regional Competition as the Southern Sunrisians also have only spot to use on Regionals and heart was clearly not enough. Southern Sunrisians will not be seeing Hart Hitmen on the First Division next season, as the Pink Shot of the North have been relegated with Glitterstone Town and less important sides Bosworth Town and Kricketunes de Tlachico. Promotion brings the First Division to the Big Bend metropolis as the Flying Pidgeottos lifted the Second Division and nearby rivals Harleysville Skitties are also up. Mangle Monfernos and Lyford Glalies finish the promoted four.

Western Sunrise's Jolteon Trophy might have been the first sweet note on a while for the Porto Velho team as they might have sacrificed a bit too much to get the home trophy, to the point where some of their first team members might miss the entire second half of the season injured, namely the team's hope of promotion, Audioslavian center-mid Christopher Monje, out with right knee problems. Maybe the reason the Coração da Capital won over some questionable competition were the mostly reserves squad put by both Nacional and Filipéia, with the Verdão squeezing a fifth place out of nothing while Nacional ended up mid-table on 10th. Without the usual big teams, it was up for sides like Cobra de Regatas and Nova Reno to put up a fight and... well, they did. In fact, Cobra de Regatas put up so much of a fight that they almost took the spot and the AOCL ticket on the last match, beating downer Paulo Soares 2-0 home while the battered Porto Velho lost to Cientologicano for the same result at the Vieirão, home of the Azulão da Costa do Mar. The city of Regatas that saw the brave Cobras get near the top also saw their rivals Lince de Regatas fall flat to the Second Division as the three-way tie of relegated teams that also included Machado and Hospitalidade Unida ended up placing the team from Regatas as the last placed one. Ginástica e Esgrima, a somewhat traditional team from Porto Velho but without much to talk about these years completed the bottom four. Promotion brought back Rosas, for one. The women-only team that was once lauded a major strength in the Western Sunrisian scene now tries to use the promotion as a springboard to maybe re-obtain what they lost. Additionally, the little cousin of Porto Velho teams, Real Portovelhense saw promotion as well as Duque de Rosas. Second Division's champion, however, was Division E's Expresso, now under a new management that might give them something after the war that was on the Second Division.

Culpirits of the entire system switch, the Umbreon Trophy from Eastern Sunrise didn't end weirder than what one would expect. Champions were, in the end, one of the most competent teams from Eastern football, the Georgetown Friars who had to fight for the trophy against other Eastern Sunrisian powerhouses, even if their shine hasn't been strong in the Unified section, such as Platform Moon, Mertiogna Marauders, Sunset Beach AFC, Kingston City and Tigarah Knockouts. The tournament itself didn't give many surprises away, though one could see Rythm Wanderers' disappointing finish to the point of barely avoiding relegation as something they need to look over, specially with a Division C on the Sunrisian Championship waiting for them. A team stealing the show, however, was the non-Sunrisian Championship team Effort City, who respected their namesake and tried their best on one-upping the big teams of the league, coming out with wins against Vice City and Rona Beach, but a key victory against the Tigarah Knockouts that might have knocked them out, pun intended, of title contention. With a tournament that didn't present many surprises, the only real disappointment was the relegation of Culture Club, an underground Eastern Sunrisian club that blew the opportunity that could have finally shown how powerful teams like them really are. Fans of the side did mention that it probably was a "Karma Chameleon" that stopped them from actually doing well this season. The promotion brings up four tame Eastern Sunrisian sides, all created after meeting Northern Sunrisian culture, hence the Pokémon names.

Leaving the top of the Sunrises, one can't help but to look up to what might have been the surprise dish of the National system, the Colonial Tournaments: a bunch of tournaments that, beyond one or two popular faces, could be described as the brawn of Sunrisian football. Things didn't go with much surprise at some tournaments, Son Vasco and Sant Jordi, big Sunrisian teams as of now had little trouble overcoming their regional opponents; Basil Futures, fresh off their re-foundation, have also topped their league. Soluppgäng also saw a rather established team, B52s win the trophy on what might have been the bloodiest edition ever of the Solariliga-1, a tournament revived only for the purpose of bringing teams from the colony against each other. But what might have generated most of the ratings that helped out tournaments of lesser regions was exactly what would seem like a reason not to watch: lack of popularity. Each colony had their own liberties on how they'd distribute their tournament: Roberick's busy scene was represented on four groups of sixteen teams and Mount Xangers, a traditional but lackluster team from the region might have seen the light after edging off CCP and are now heavily considered for the next Sunrisian Championship expansion. Pro Patria had to survive hell on earth to win Novacqua's Trofeo Nazionale after qualifying as the leader of Group 7. Tournaments like the Miners Trophy, the Futura League and W-Lagariachem 1 served their purpose on presenting their parts of the country and as such might have revealed names that may one day build up the Sunrisian background. It also boosted several of the non Big Four Sunrisian tournaments. Countries like the Northwestern Sunrise have earned a noticeable following after their tournaments presented a lot of their culture together with some top class football.

SUN.LEAGUE (and other Non-SC tournaments)
Fans of Sunrisian football might remember this name fondly. A brief experiment that tied teams from the Unified Sunrise, Kazamatsuri and Miyuzuki, the SUN.LEAGUE held some pretty noticeable interest and worked somewhat well. While it was unfortunate that financial reasons and pressure from Sunrisian teams pushed the league towards moving to an Unified Sunrisian only format, Mizuyukijin reportedly enjoyed the league and were actually looking forward to playing against the Sunrisian teams. And after years of wait and a name change, they finally got it. Though not exactly the way one would expect.

Opposition changed visibly. Gone were the likes of the Selyne Athenians or the Granger Dragonites. Opposition now consisted of sides from the Sunrisian Dependency of the Hakifao Isles, teams like Moonside City, Mt. Itoi Abomasnows, Onett City and Tazmily Magnemites plus an invited team. Remember the MPL? Well, if you don't, then welcome the Badtunna Rovers, a team from the Party House Island of Viggo Rollig, the barely legal paradise at Emirates of Futurnia that somehow saw fit to have a football team. That said, the teams from Kirisaki themselves aren't as strong as they used to. Many of their most talented players jumped ship to the Sunrisian Championship, rendering the teams certainly weaker. That couldn't be more apparent as Hakifao's capital Moonside City won the trophy with a nice, peaceful advantage over Luminia Seraphs. Hell, the legendary Suzuka Route 99ers failed to even make the Top 10. Badtunna Rovers themselves barely escaped relegation... but then again, they too shelved their team from back at the MPL, so there's that.

If the SUN.LEAGUE wasn't good enough for you, there were other two tournaments that finally got a spot at television: The Amy Regional League and the Liga Lusófona. The Liga Lusófona, a follow up of the Campeonato Carnivalense from the early days of Sunrisian football has aged surprisingly well, with quality teams trading heavy blows on the top. Teams like Antônio das Mortes and Leonard Schillinger bringing their A game against relative newcomers like Afrodite and Lusófona's champions Horizonte. Might be one of the most promising things from Sunrisian football as the league itself likes to be "classic football, the way your father enjoyed" and it pretty much shows that. No sponsors on shirts, teams featuring talents that were overlooked, that kind of thing. The Amy Regional League is the opposite, in a way. Amy Island teams have been trying to pop up more often on the Sunrisian Championship, things that happened with teams like Matthew Mets or Afonse Battalion. So while there is no word on the USICA using the Amy Regionals as a tournament to invite teams up, they seem to remain focused at that. The Alicia Foresters won the trophy there via goal difference.

So if this sounded interesting enough for you, you can check the results on all of them at nsisports.nsi! Quick!

Dycc Tyttz wasn't sure why he'd even bothered to turn up to the soiree he currently found himself in. The good and great of Shytyslysh football under one roof apparently and it was very apparent as to why the newly (mostly-)professional league; the Hoggs'hed Brewrys Shytyslysh Champyonshyppe had taken so long to come to fruition. It was full of morons in Dycc's eyes at least.
Dycc viewed himself as a true professional, even before being a footballer was a valid profession. He'd trained initially as an architect and kept his sporting pursuits as a hobby until now, with the advent of a proper national league with UICA qualifications, the sale of TV rights and a national resurgence in sports interest. Now he made his living kicking a ball about and dreamt of plying his trade in one of the multiverse's great leagues.

The evening was an awards night hastily thrown together by the sponsors to celebrate the league's opening season and it was devolving into a bit of a fiasco. The sheer number of awards proved ridiculous and meant Dycc, nominated for 'Player of the Season' had a long tedious wait for his category as it naturally featured at the end of the night and he was already tired of providing polite applause as people such as Henryetta Pychphorc of Mudphuttynge Toun collected their prize for 'Best Apprentice Groundskeeper for a Non-Professional Team'.

"How long have we been here?"
"Two hours and thirty eight minutes. Exactly five minutes since you last asked."
"And how much longer do you think it is going to be?"
"An hour, maybe ninety minutes or so? I don't bloody know. Depends on how many lifetime acheivement awards they're gonna hand out."
"We've had one official season. How many bloody lifetime acheivement awards can there be?"
"Given how the night is going, I'd guess several."

Dycc sat with his partner Keyra Sydewayes as she was in the process of hitting the free drinks having missed out on winning the 'Best rendition of the national anthem in a domestic league game' to 'that prissy bitch'; Mayry Undawud. The game she performed at was the day she met Dycc coincidentally and although they often spun a romantic tale of their eyes meeting in the tunnel etc etc., in reality they had engaged in a brief and somewhat disappointing sexual intercourse on the back seat of the away team's bus part way through the second half after Dycc had been subbed off. How this spontaneous act of lust had blossomed into an actual relationship, no one quite knew. Especially Dycc and Keyra. The only bigger mystery was how Eabrym & Rhottensods had managed to make CCTV footage of their top striker being a woefully incompetent lover vanish.

"Oh look. It's time for your favourite player to receive his award."

Dycc sneered towards Keyra. He didn't need the announcement to know what the award was. 'The Copper Ball for Top Goalscorer' and the winner; Jym. Dycc could tolerate the fact that Jym had claimed Top Goalscorer by scoring a mere goal more than he and he could also deal with the fact that Jym had a cult following and was widely loved by the vast majority of the Shytyslysh football followers. What he couldn't deal with was that Jym was in fact a penguin.
Over the course of the season, Jym had scored every single one of Mucwych's 22 goals. He was just always there, in the right place at the right time. Errant shots had deflected off his head to score wonderful arching headers over outstretched keepers, low crosses had met with his feet and bounced into the net and his lacklustre shots had unbelievably squirmed through the grasp of some of the best domestic goalies Shytysle had to offer. The crowd applauded wildly as a trainer took Jym on his harness (and with the aid of a few raw fish) up to the podium.

"I swear that penguin's retarded."
"Dycc!"
"What? It is! Why else would a sea-going bird get involved with something as abstract as football? It doesn't have a clue what's going on. It's fucking animal cruelty is what it is."
"Jealous much?"
"Why would I be jealous of a fucking retarded penguin?"
"That's what it sounds like to me ... "
"Yeah well, that's ... I mean ... Fuck it. Whatever."

Dycc added a few sardonic claps to the hubbub of the room whilst maintaining a sneer towards Keyra who, after several glasses of cheap champagne (or Shampagny as they call it in Shytysle and yes, we do pronounce it Sham - Pag - Nee unlike you other weirdos ...) seemed to be enjoying pushing her misery onto another. In the meantime, Jym squawked and the assembled journalists scribbled away as though someone had said something deeply prophetic.

"I mean, how can we expect to be taken seriously internationally when we declare a penguin to be our greatest goalscorer?"
"Aww darling. If only you'd been born a penguin eh?"
"If only you could sing, then at least one of us could've won something tonight."

Dycc didn't have a lot of time to react as firstly he found himself drenched in a fizzy alcoholic drink, secondly, he was vociferously admonished for being an 'utter bastard' by his date and thirdly he found himself blinded by flashes as the nation's media turned their attention from the charming penguin and towards the ungracious loser who was making a scene during Jym's presentation. Keyra paid no heed to the media frenzy behind her and continued her tirade. Dycc desperately tried to calm the situation but to no avail, his wry smiles to the cameras only serving to exacerbate the fire in Keyra's belly. His focus upon the camera's proved also to be his downfall as he failed to notice Keyra swing the large albeit empty Shampagny bottle towards his head.

It was several hours later when Dycc woke up in hospital with a splitting headache and the morning's paper by the side of the bed with all the previous night's exploits in it. It was shortly after reading that Jym had been awarded Player of the Season that he started demanding large quanitities of diamorphine.
