How about making all four playoff rounds 2 out of 3?

Assuming we have 48 participants, this would result in
10 days of Group Competition &
a maximum of 3 days per playoff round.
That's 22 days.

That's just my opinion. I'm sure you'll do a good job.

Usually, all playoff is two out of three, and the finals is out of five. I did shorten it due to the Olympiad starting late Nov. However, if people don't mind the IBC overlapping the Olympics that is fine. One day won't hurt. I do prefer having the Quarters and Semis over with, but if elected, if people would like the old format to go through, I agree. Yes.

IBC 19 Bid: Valladares

The Asociación Valladar de Baloncesto (aka Valladar Basketball Association), on behalf of Valladares, wishes to submit the following host bid for the 19th edition of the International Basketball Championships:

I. IBC Host

About Valladares

Valladares is a country located in the Terranea continent of the region of Rushmore, and renowned for the beauty of its landscapes and natural environments and the kindness and compassion of its citizens. The country's relatively recent opening to its neighbours and to the multiverse (mainly on the sports and diplomacy fields) has helped the nation establish cordial relationships with several other nations and has had a significant impact on its economy and culture, although the latter can be questioned due to the fact that its natural social heterogeneity, which was forged through history, makes it difficult to establish a "unified" Valladar culture.

Albeit most known in the sporting field by its achievements in association football, Valladares has been historically one of the multiverse's leading nations in basketball (in spite of its lack of silverware), with this sport being one of the most popular ones in the nation, only being second to association football. Thus, the AVB sees a potential hosting of the IBC as its golden chance to give basketball a much-needed exposure that will boost its popularity while at the same time consolidating its positioning in the country.

II. Format

The AVB considers that the most ideal format would involve either a multiple of 6 nations or a multiple of 8 nations. Considering the number of signups we currently have (44), the most likely number for the format would be 48 teams (which coincidentally, happens to be a multiple of both 6 and 8).

So, if elected, signups will most likely be cut off at 48, with flexibility available in case of more signups (preferably 56 in that instance). These teams then, using pots, will be divided into 8 groups of 6 teams each, which will be played on a double round-robin basis with all games ICly held in the respective nations. The top 2 teams per group will advance into the playoffs, where they will be seeded according to their performance in the qualifying stage. Playoffs and finals will be played in Valladares. Should it be a 56-team format, teams would be split into 8 groups of 7 in a single round-robin format, with all games being played in Valladares. Regardless of the format ultimately chosen, the playoffs will be contested by 16 teams in a best-of-three bracket, with the finals being best-of-five.

III. Scorination/RP Bonus

Xkoranate's basketball formula will be used for scorination, as it has been used in all recent IBCs. As for the RP Bonus, it will be cumulative, generous, flexible, and will always look to reward quality rather than quantity.

IV. Experience

The user behind the nation of Valladares is a well-established user, having been part of NS Sports since May 2009 (around the same time the forums moved out of Jolt) and taking part in several football and basketball competitions ever since. Whilst this user is aware that he has not specific basketball hosting experience aside from scorinating a basketball league, he has plenty of experience hosting football competitions, having hosted successfully the 61st Cup of Harmony (along with Yttribia), the 60th Baptism of Fire (along with Eura), the sixth (as Whirl Islands), tenth, and twentieth Copa Rushmori editions and is also responsible for organizing it. In addition to this, this user is also responsible for scorinating a 197-team domestic football league on a regular basis while also being currently in control of the Cup Winners' Cup (aka Cygnus Cup).

I initially stated in my bid that my preferred number of signups for this competition would be 48 entries, while not discarding the possibility of a 56-team competition. As of now, counting the additional signups we've had between the posting of my bid and this post, we've surpassed that number by 4, which means that the best decision to make now would be aiming at 56 entries, in order to form 8 groups of 7. So, signups will be left open until we get four more entries.
