PL: The EPIC OOC XI [closed]

And that mainly happens when there's a gap in how I imagine the action playing out, and what I want to write down.

I've been told that trying to write things out as if you are describing a movie helps. Don't get too literal (like, "and then the view panned out"), but definitely try to capture a good description of why a scene playing out would be evoking.

I may have just spent the last few seconds curled up in a ball making happy squealing noises. I get the feeling that this is unusual, and that I should consult a registered physician, but this is way too awesome for me to bother with that right now; hi, Swith! =D

How could anything have over 2000 uses in a household?! I didn't think there were that many things you could do in a household! Although I guess they're including things that aren't technically related to the household, like bathing in ice-cream or serenading the ghost of Pierre Trudeau.

Swith, I, um, may need a while before I can join any IRCs. My computer's video-card is busted, so I'm stuck on my iPod until I either buy a new card or build a new PC. There seem to be a lot of apps for IRCs floating around? But the people reviewing them all seem to think they're attempting to replace their children with bog monsters, which is usually not a good sign. Bog monsters are pretty cool, but if an app has the power to abduct your children, it has the power to do other things, and I'm concerned about what they might try once they realize I don't have any.

I've been told that trying to write things out as if you are describing a movie helps. Don't get too literal (like, "and then the view panned out"), but definitely try to capture a good description of why a scene playing out would be evoking.

Trying to write in the style of a script - complete with extensive scene description and actions - is an interesting exercise and definitely makes writers pay attention to those details. (Believe me, I know.)

If you ever want to try switching our chars in that one RP to that for awhile - possibly even in the context of them being in a play or reality warping situation, but just describing 'normal' stuff in the style would be fine - I would be entirely on board with it. It's a fun style to work with.

You also - definitely as an exercise; change to normal before submitting if doing with RP posts - might want to try writing in second person present tense, rather as though you're describing the character's situation to them. I find it an interesting way to get into a character's head.

The setting has drastically changed. We're currently locked in a dimension that prohibits outside influences (from other pantheons, nations, etc).

We've also defined the omniverse better. These changes might influence the type of character you normally play. viewtopic.php?p=26035153#p26035153


@ALL. A work mishap requires my full attention this week. I'm unable to post IC beyond a few short words (will do so shortly to free up teen club). I normally pass posts on to Swith to be incorporated into the IC but I haven't had the opportunity to read our thread and jot notes.

This means we're having a bit of freeform. Use it wisely. Romy was working on an equipment list. Might want to have soldier characters pick up on that and itemize their stuff. Char!Bran is the only character to have had the opportunity to see the city from the distance. Bran might want to read through my IC posts and offer his character's observations to the main group still in the dining room.

@Teen Club. My IC post will not be Torsii's tribute. It's a bridge to it in order to give your characters freedom to move on. I'll post a proper tribute once I have free time.

@Tilt. Would you mind sending a character to the front desk to handle our newcomer? I'll need Klaus for Torsii's tribute post.

Oh, hmm. I posted that Sandy saw the skyglow, so he knows the city is there:

Sandy took a few steps back, about to start treating people, then turned to take a hasty look where Septimus seemed to have been indicating the rescue mission was going. He followed the bright line of a road to a pair of large dots in the distance -- our people, apparently -- then the dark, swarming mass that must be the Fiends chasing them to the Building. Beyond was a motionless dot, a friendly casualty. Damn! Whoever it was must be the mission's goal. Lifting his eyes a little higher he saw a hazy shape, but couldn't make it out... but on the horizon was a brightly lit spot with skyglow over it. A city! It must be! But that was something for tomorrow. Now, it was time to make sense of the situation on the roof.

Based on:

To the far west sat a larger city, this one sporting electricity and only clearly visible to those on the roof with enhanced vision. Skyscrapers rose from its base, their lights glittering in the night air. Vehicles traveled its roads, ferrying its inhabitants to their destinations. Had these people no idea about the horror in their own backyard? It seemed the Fiends were either reluctant to go there, or else kept at bay by something unseen.

Sandy had cast the Eyes of the Wolf, so I figured he would count as having enhanced vision, at least for the purposes of knowing the city was there. But unlike char!Bran, he doesn't have telescopic vision, so he wouldn't have seen any detail.

It that gonna need to be fixed?
