But before it goes any further, is there anything that's clearly wrong that needs to be fixed? The scaling should be 30:1, and the helicopter is supposed to be in the same size and weight class as the AW101.

EDIT: Also, 3 engines or just 2? AW101 has three, as does CH-53K, but plenty of others make due with just two. This is presuming that new engines would be developed for the project, so the horsepower goals could be met with either two or three engines.

There's very little point.

As ground attack evolves the role played by cannon diminishes and the role of guided munitions - including miniature guided munitions like the Pyros and Pike - will only increase.

Stealth aircraft like the F-22 and F-35 already have retractable doors to conceal their cannons when not in use. But it isn't for strafing.

There's nothing unusual about surviving a MANPAD strike.

There are numerous incidents of NATO and Soviet aircraft surviving MANPAD impacts and going home to tell the tale.

In fact, during the Soviet-Afghan War, the various factions fired over 1200 MANPADS, and shot down 72 Soviet aircraft. (Total Soviet aircraft losses to all causes were at over 330 aircraft.)

It's the exhaust fairing for the center turbine. Or it's supposed to be, I'm trying to figure out better ways to make that apparent. I may scrap that part entirely.

As for the rotor, it was based on the lineart sketches I'd seen, but was mostly a placeholder until I could actually look at it in more detail. It's also somewhat asymmetrical since it's a five-bladed rotor.

It's currently a two-engine helicopter mostly because I haven't figured out where to put the third engine without making it look awkward. Rotor diameter was increased in line with the actual rotor blade sketch below the helicopter. I'm also still trying to figure out the actual rotor hub itself and its mount, and how to perhaps fix it up.
