AFL pitches are generally 150 metres long and 135 metres wide. Thats right. You can't out wank Australia.

I wasn't going to try to.
I actually hadn't gotten to see Aussie footy until I went to Australia last year. It's a very interesting game. I couldn't quite gather all the nuanced rules but I generally got the gist of how to play. The consistent scoring also keeps matches very interesting.

I also love how accessible it is. all you need is a ball, a few friends and you can use coats/bags/jumpers/ to make the goalposts at the park. However, I do not mind American football and even watch the Super Bowl when it is shown on TV here. I might even go watch should another American Football match take place at Wembley.

Yes, it is a great game to watch.
I'm sorry, but I refuse to watch a game that has a possibility of having NO GOALS SCORED OVER AN HOUR AND A HALF!

Australian Football has that possibility as well. It just doesn't ever happen.
Just because Soccer does not involve large numbers of scores doesn't mean it's unmatchable. I enjoy watching soccer. Not as much as Australian Rules, but I still find it enjoyable.

It wouldn't stop every couple of minutes for an ad break. That's dreadfully tacky. Instead it would go on over several days, with regular breaks for tea and crumpets. It'd also for some reason automatically stop when it's raining, and Cliff Richard would come out and sing to entertain the crowd. The vast majority of matches would end in a draw, the most sportsmanlike result. To ensure health and safety we'd remove the armour too and make sure that any physical contact rather than a light tap with the index finger would result in a three match ban.
Now that's sport, right there.

“There’s one last thing,” she said. She pulled out a large photographic blowup of a brain-tissue sample. “This is a kid. I’m not allowed to talk about how he died. He was a good student. This is his brain. He’s eighteen years old. He played football. He’d been playing football for a couple of years.” She pointed to a series of dark spots on the image, where the stain had marked the presence of something abnormal. “He’s got all this tau. This is frontal and this is insular. Very close to insular. Those same vulnerable regions.” This was a teen-ager, and already his brain showed the kind of decay that is usually associated with old age. “This is completely inappropriate,” she said. “You don’t see tau like this in an eighteen-year-old. You don’t see tau like this in a fifty-year-old.”
McKee is a longtime football fan. She is from Wisconsin. She had two statuettes of Brett Favre, the former Green Bay Packers quarterback, on her bookshelf. On the wall was a picture of a robust young man. It was McKee’s son—nineteen years old, six feet three. If he had a chance to join the N.F.L., I asked her, what would she advise him? “I’d say, ‘Don’t. Not if you want to have a life after football.’ ”

- Economically: there is no contest: Football. American Football is dwarfed by the amount of money that goes around in Football.
- Popularity: again no contest. Football is popular in almost every country on all continents. American Football is mostly popular in the USA.
- Linguistically: Football. Voetbal. Fussball. It is a game where you play a ball with your foot most of the time. Again - something almost every country agrees on.
- As a sport: Hmm. Tricky. American Football requires more strategy, but has too many breaks. A small win to AF.
- Macho Man: Football. Really. American Football players wear armour. Footballers wear shorts and kick eachother into the hospital.
Who continues ?
