With the "Three Wise Men" retiring after the disappointing Cup of Harmony, the Nova Anglican national football team has moved into a new phase of its history. A new generation will be stepping up to claim the mantle of leadership and they will have a new head coach. After initial selections got it down to three candidates, in-fighting led to no one being hired for a long time and Silas Gabriel, former manager Patrick Moran's top assistant, guided the team for a while, including in the 11th Campionato Esportiva. Eventually, they settled on the youngest candidate; Sook Jin Lee, 39 of the Royal Kingdom of Quebec was selected. Lee has had fewer than two months to mold this team in his own image, so some difficulties can be expected. However, it is certainly a relief for these 23 men to finally have a definitive head coach.

Lee is an attacking coach, and has transformed the Lions into a more aggressive team than they were before. He has, however, had to compromise his preferred all-out attacks strategy for a more measured approach that Nova Anglicans are familiar with. From Moran, we saw his favorite 1-4-4-1, which eventually transformed into 4-1-4-1, and then morphed into 4-6-0 due to a lack of quality strikers under Gabriel in the CEXI. Lee has elected a 4-2-3-1, which allows him to utilize the defensive talents of Cesar Martinez as well as the attack of Emmanuel Moga. Despite the 4-2-3-1 being a neutral or defensive-leaning formation, Lee has assured the press that his attacking philosophy will be present. The wingers, Pelletier and Fleming, will press the flanks (supported by Bradley Lancaster the fullback) as Moga and Hodges the striker attack down the middle. The capable Philip Castillo will be more aggressive than Martinez (since he's not a natural DM), but Lee has promised that Martinez will be able to unleash his thunderbolt of a shot on free kicks.

In the BoF 54, the Lions won two of three group stages games for six points, and qualified to the round of 16. However, there, their run came to an end in a defeat against Yttribia on PKs (0-0 AET, 6-5 PK). In the 67th edition of the World Cup, the Lions finished with a record of 6-4-6, good for 22 points and 4th place in their qualfying group. They conceded a mere 13 goals, but were only able to score a paltry 11. They were eliminated in the group stages of the 59th Cup of Harmony, losing a pair of games to two strong teams in Felix and Saintland. In World Cup 68, the Lions were on the verge of advancing to a qualification playoff, but dropped two out of their final three to San José Guayabal and the Licentian Isles, missing out on the playoffs by three points. Nevertheless, a record of 8-1-5 and 25 points was a great achievement, and they hope to improve upon it. In World Cup 69, the Lions finished 7-4-3, with the same 25 points and in fourth place behind Jeruselem, New Montreal States, and Nexxus Drako. They were invited to the 61st Cup of Harmony, but finished 0-1-2 in a very poor performance. The Lions are honored to be participating in the 70th World Cup Qualification and look to score some upsets en route to perhaps actually qualifying for the World Cup in Equestrian States/San José Guayabal.

Omerica Home Venues

In honour of the 150th anniversary of the declaration of Omerican independence, the home venues for the Omerican squad will be rotated around the country in this World Cup Qualifying. Four stadia will host Omerican home qualifiers for this tournament, taking the race to the World Cup across the isles and back again.

To host Nephara (MD4), Quebec (MD9) and Equestrian States (friendly; MD17)
The Arena la Rouge (ah-ray-nah-lah-ROOZH) in Philibiscostal (phil-lib-bis-COST-uhl), Securu is the home stadium for United Philibiscostal, one of the most successful top flight teams in the country, and the Omerican national team. Located in the nation's largest city, itself in the most populous prefecture of the country, the Arena la Rouge can seat crowds of up to 62,000. The Arena la Rouge has hosted many historic games over its storied history, such as the dreaded "Night of Twenty-Four Penalties".

The Stadium Saint George in the capital Georgetown is often said to be the little sister to the Arena la Rouge. Not far from the Georgetown Naval Observatory, the location of the Prime Meridian, the Stadium Saint George can comfortably hold crowds around 55,000 in its stands.

The Arena d’Alopiana plays host to FC Alopiana, the club of its namesake city. Located next to the beautiful Fisherman’s Gulf in Alopi prefecture, the Arena has not had quite the storied history of the Arena la Rouge or Stadium Saint George, but makes up for its lack of experience with its public transport connections, wonderful location and 45,000 person seating capacity.

The Azure Stadium in the northwestern city of Mariascola has been given the nickname "Jewel of Ramales". Though the least important of the four venues and the only one without a club in the top two tiers of Omerican football, the Azure Stadium can still fit 30,000 spectators above its seaside pitch.

Roster and Formation of the Men's National Team

Les Oiseaux are known to be a very offensive team, subscribing to the philosophy of "the best defence is a good offence." The team tends to use a 3-4-3 formation in games, with wingers a notable omission from the Omerican playing style. Players dubbed "left/right forwards/defenders" by the team would usually be considered centre players by other nations, and these players can switch between posts on their third of the field when necessary. Defensive players do play slightly farther out to allow more coverage on offensive players, but the Omerican strategy is to keep possession no deeper than the midfield so as to not have to resort to a defence in the back. In the case that Les Oiseaux needs to cover an effective offensive team, the Islanders will switch to a 4-3-3 strategy, shifting one outfielder from the midfield to the defensive line.

Wherever they go, Isulans are strangers to all except obscurity. Leaping into the wings of the world stage in the nineteenth Copa Rushmori, the team put their performance in the previous edition of that tournament to shame with a brilliant quarterfinal run, knocked out by Zenic at the iconic Barge at Bjanarey. The great Isulan introduction to world football, however, came in the Baptism of Fire. Eight straight victories combined to give the Isulan team their first ever title, in a 3-2 victory over Polaskaan in the snow and chill of The Royal Kingdom of Quebec. The thing that has elevated the Isulan squad to legendary status, however, is their inability to concede. The team conceded two goals throughout the entirity of the tournament, both of them in the final. It is in this way, the high-flying champions but also the marked me, notorious and with a target on their backs, that Isula ĝe Ru enters the 70th World Cup.

Coaches and Staff

Head Coach: Siolæsĉigu Marcu Foda Maria
Marcu Foda Maria, like all Isulans, is a gentleman and a scholar. He holds the title of Siolæsĉigu, translated as "scholar" or "academic", and utilizes extensive tactical strategy in his management of this squad. Unique amongst the remainder of the coaches and players, he has no club affiliation, instead utilizing his tactical mind for more noble and quiet pursuits, such as chess or poetry, two things which he is widely considered to be quite excellent at. Now entering his third tournament, the man is the epitome of the word "wise", and is treated with a reverent respect amongst the teams. He can be seen in his required dress, long, black Scholar's Robes.

Assistant: Samuél Saidolaru Aĝuu
Should somebody not know better, they would think Samuél was the manager. Dressed in a suit and tie, as a sharp contrast to Marcu's mandatory scholar's robes, and shouting out the orders which Marcu gives during each match, it is he who is perhaps the clearer face of the side. He is, however, very much the assistant to the Scholar, consulting the man for tactical advice. It is he who is the vehement, passionate loudspeaker for the cool and calm tactical mind that is the Scholar. Any thought of him as shallow, however, must be dismissed now from your mind. The man has won domestic titles aplenty, provided media fodder in Polar Islandstates, yes, but also glittering leadership and motivation. He is the Isulan's swagger, their badassery.

Second Assistant: Ioura Masu Eĝia
Ioura's career with the Isulan national team and his club Arĝa CF was a short one, but immensely fruitful. He provided the driving force on defense for two Copa Rushmoris, and, after his retirement at the ripe age of 38, has announced his desire to continue his role of extraordinary leadership on the squad, assuming the role of a secondary assistant and defensive co-ordinator. The final element of the trifecta of leadership, he can be found in a tracksuit and clipboard, encouraging substitutes, making his viewpoint known to the referress, aligning the defense against counterattacks and setpieces, and trying to placate Samuél Saidolaru Aĝuu.

Players

Starting XI

Keeper: Caĉiiu Ricadu Sinha
Caĉiiu is widely regarded to be the best keeper in the nation. He is the man, along with Striker Elhu Micaila Saidosaquera and Manager Samuél Saidolaru Aĝuu, who has been credited with leading Maria CF to their top status as the single most successful team in Isula ĝe Ru. Caĉiiu, as per most Isulan tactics, is a fairly athletic keeper, always prepared to receive a pass from a teammate and even control the ball for some periods of time. He has been the stalwart Isulan ruler in the goalmouth from the team's inception, and will continue to be the final line of defense in the Isulan setup into the Baptism of Fire.

Left Back: Iacobu Ĉarlu Alassæra
Iacobu is a versatile, all-around defender who is always prepared to play forward when the team is attacking. Despite being slightly reluctant to go back to his position, he is still a stalwart member of the Isulan lines, and will be the most attacking of the four Isulan defenders.

Center-Back: Dabiit Ducau Ĉiaba
Dabiit has already cemented himself as one of the premier defenders in the Isulan League. Content to stay back and contain the ball and the game, he is perhaps the most conservative of the Isulan back four. Dabiit worked wonders for the Isulan squad in the Copa Rushmori, his agressive tackling and crisp, ferocious challenges earning him a spot on the Baptism squad. Expect to see him taking his time, calmly turning away advances and breaking up passing attempts.

Center-Back: Ioa Maria Rusu Lara
In an effort to presever chemistry, Ducau Ĉiaba and Rusu Lara were kept in their club team's position, where they provide the backbone for Olympi. Though the squad has struggled of late, shining performances by both players in recent competitions have meant that their names remain inscribed on the Isulan team sheet, at least for this tournament.

Right Back: Ianhu Iulha Goranu
Filling the boots of veteran Ioura Masu Eĝia will not be an easy task, but the youngster Ianhu was determined by the CFN to be more than up to the task. Though he may not have the capability Ioura had to shut down entire sides of the field, entire passing lanes are very much in danger on the right. Ianhu also has magnificent technical ability, making him the defender of choice to end breakways and handle long balls.

Midfield: Bilha Saidomarcu Domique
Bilha's style and manner, both on and off the field, is usually only the second thing opposing players will notice, the first being the magnificent beard he keeps at all times. This bald-headed, bearded beast of a man is the team's main scorer, and an excellent chance at both power and finesse shots. He is the powerhouse of the team and usually the bane of Silver League keepers. His goals in the Copa Rushmori were stunning and tearing, and there is no doubt he will continue to make opposing keepers weep.

Midfield: Micaíl ĝ'O Isula Maria
Bilha's teammate Micaíl is the other half of a partnership which has worked wonders for Esĉelha Siripta Saiude throughout the league. Micaíl sits back, takes the ball and controls it well, then the team's main distributor unleashes one of his trademark square-balls in an effort to puncture the opposition's defenses. More often than not, this dazzles fans and moves the Isulan team up the table.

Left Wing: Aier Sel Sol
The Winger's job in the tactics laid out by Marcu Foda Maria is to control the ball down the flanks, receive distributing passes from the middle, and move the ball as far forward as they can, as efficiently as they can. Aier Sel Sol, who came off the bench in the Copa Rushmori to score, amaze, and thoroughly earn his Starting XI spot, will do his utmost to follow these directions, though he is notorious for spiking tactical formations with his own style and speed.

Forward: Elhu Micaila Saidosaquera
There is no striker in the nation better than Elhu. The foot behind many a Copa Rushmori goal, Elhu is no stranger to the look of a rippling net, and will look during the Baptism of Fire to familiarize himself even more with this sight. To defend Elhu Micaila Saidosaquera is a horror story for a defender, and to find a way to shut him down, a triumph for a back line.

Forward: Ala Samuél Ĝea
Samuél Ĝea is the face of a Ĝa CF team that desperately needs such a face. Athletic and nimble, he is the perfect complement to Elhu's quiet flamboyance, and the two, despite generally being opponents, have rapidly developed a bond that has, with very little exception, led to balls smashing past keepers.

Right Wing: Iulho Maria Seta/Mitu Maria Albu Saida
After Mitu Maria Albu Saida's arrest, the team was up in arms for his return, despite the allegations against him. As the trial and imprisonment is ongoing, it is unlikely that Mitu will return to the team, but his spot remains his. It is filled in his vacancy by Iulho Maria Seta, a young winger from the capital city of Isula ĝe Ru. Whether or not he will be able to stand in Mitu's boots, and whether those boots will ever be filled, is a matter of much debate.

The Isulan game is a unique one, revolving mostly around ball control, and a massive amount of through-runs as the main manner of setting up scoring. In fact, the Isulan squad will generally prefer to dominate possession in the middle third of the pitch, forfeiting possible openings and shots in favor of waiting for the chance to spring forward, pass the ball in stride, and hammer it into the goal. The game, then, will revolve around quick, blazing strikes surrounded by periods of ball control and passing battles.
On defense, Isulans are never afraid to pass back to their keeper, a fact that can lead to trouble. The main role of the defense on an Isulan team is to send the ball back into the midfield battle, a battle that will always occur when playing against the Isulans.
Besides the lightning-quick through runs and one-twos which punctuate long periods of possession struggle, Isulans delight in corner kicks, seeing them as a grand opportunity to score, and generally capitalizing on this opportunity.
In this way, the Isulan game is both technical and fast, both demanding and exhilarating. While some teams may not see the amount of goals they are used to, that does not mean the game will be any less hard-fought and exciting.

Matches will be played in the expansive National Stadium. Located technically underground, built into the mountain that boasts Scholar's Tower and the rest of the capital city, it is quite literally cavernous, seating 75,000 spectators in seating. The seating is interrupted by outcroppings and juts of rock, meaning that the seats to not wrap all about the field, rather flow with the contours of the cavern. The echoing vastness and novel surroundings make for National Stadium to be an unforgettable venue.

After Cata Larga's impressive debut at the 56th Baptism of Fire, it was as if a spark had been lit. Constant wins when the Catalarguense public expected losses, if they even knew about the tournament, piqued curiosity. Throughout the Baptism of Fire, more and more Catalarguens began to follow the Catalarguense national team - and football in general. Even though the Polos (ǐes Polos, in the Catalarguense tongue) were eliminated in the round of 16 against Laiyenda, the modest audience the Catalarguense NT had built were still cheering them on as they went on to the World Cup qualifications.

Cata Larga was among the worst performers in the group. The fragile audience quickly dispersed, going back to the national passion of rugby union once that World Cup had begun.

A few, however, remained, as the Catalarguense Football Association (Acociatiëne de Kiëlcië Catalargüense, or the AKC) was faced with a confusing situation; The Polos had an admirable performance in the Baptism of Fire, but performed terribly in the qualifications for the actual World Cup, even discounting the presence of much better, more experienced teams. In addition, in the aftermath of the Catalarguense failure in the qualifications, the AKC was faced with a rapidly dwindling audience for association football, when before it had been growing exponentially. Knowing that the Baptism of Fire had come and gone, and there was no going back, the AKC came to a decision to resolve the confusion: The Polos had to adapt to the big leagues. How? They would pour their efforts into what the Catalarguense national men's football team does best - the offensive. And they found just the man to do it.

Enrie Cevierine is an aggressive man. He's simply satisfied when things go right and hellish when things go wrong. He's argumentative, and willing to bend over backwards to make the team perform exactly to his standards. But, perhaps most distinctively, he's bold. He carries with him an aura of discipline and confidence, and is willing to do what needs to be done to make the strategy go right. He expects the members of the team to do the same. And yet, at the end of a match, he still shakes hands with his counterpart honorably. His selection faced a lot of criticism; The public accused him of arrogance, of unsportsmanship, and - after the benching of black player Erike Nwora - of racism. His benching, or even complete removal, of old Baptism of Fire veterans was massively criticized, even leading to calls for his resignation from the small Catalarguense football community. Despite all the trials, however, the AKC continues to stand by Cevierine, believing he can lead the Catalarguense side to high places in the World Cup qualifications - and maybe even the World Cup itself.

da Varaisca is by far the most dangerous player for Cata Larga. He's already won the Golden Boot in the Guayabalense premiership after his first season abroad, despite stiff competition from Audioslavian Maati Jarvinen and his status as a reserve player. He's methodical, scientific, and quick, he finds weak points, he's a great target man, and he gets the goals to show for it all. His high favor with Cevierine, his popularity, and his centrality to Catalarguense football strategy got him appointed team captain.

The second most dangerous man here. da Varaisca may be the face of Cata Larga's NT, but ia Klerka, along with Fontiane, are what keep it going. da Varaisca is fed most of his goals from those two, though he has much better chemistry with ia Klerka - they're both straight, methodical players.

The third man in the da Varaisca-ia Klerka-Fontiane triumvirate is the weakest. While he does positively spectacular work when the time is right, he's more emotional and flamboyant than the other two, and is quite likely to foul or otherwise slip if he gets consistently shut down.

One of the only starters from the World Cup 69 cycle to stay on the starting XI after Cevierine took the reins. He's used to being further up front and in center, but he still does a fine job in his position. The decision to put Fontiane in the LAM position instead of Trastiele remains a point of contention; Trastiele has better chemistry with da Varaisca. His experience, as well as his mild aptitude up in front, got him the vice captaincy.

A newer player, but he's already getting on well with Trastiele, who he's publicly called his "best friend". Very important, too: In case the triumvirate up front fails, Cevierine will rely on Normandie and Trastiele to save the offensive.

He's young, he's fresh, and he's a bright spot on a Catalarguense defense that looks very dark overall. Viede's excitable and a bit paranoid, but he does a very decent job in his DM position, and Cevierine doesn't ask for much more.

Another survivor from the WC69 squad's gotten better abroad, but overall? Still somewhat subpar. He's one of the better defenders for Cata Larga, though, and can be a nuisance for attackers when necessary.

Cantiele, another WC69 survivor, is getting a bit old. He still has a few good years in him, though, and he'll make damn sure he sucks at his position as long as he can.

Sant-Pietre has no right to be as decent of a goalkeeper as he is, considering his age and the low quality of the rest of the Catalarguense defense. However, he's still very diligent, and even if he's starting to get a little stiff, he can still block shots with the rest of them.

The CF sub from WC69 is back again, in the same role. Piescie used to be the key man for Cata Larga before da Varaisca began to take stride, and he shows it. He's a bit looser and a bit more flamboyant than da Varaisca, but he is a worthy substitute.

ia Boia's here in case da Varaisca's main feeders fall apart for one reason or the other. While da Varaisca focuses on being fed the goals, ia Boia focuses more on getting into one-on-one situations and maneuvering independently. He's the youngest on the team, but certainly showing promise.

Sant-Francice is a tough man. It is a shame he is somewhat weak when it comes to crossing, which is a core element of the "feeding da Varaisca" strategy. He can get goals on his own, though, in case he ends up being subbed in.

Choosing whether Sant-Janne or Fontiane should start in the LAM spot was one of the toughest decisions Cevierine had to make. Sant-Janne was just plain better at crossing, but Fontiane synced better with ia Klerka and da Varaisca, despite their differences. Fontiane won the start because of this, but Sant-Janne is still very skilled, and probably the most likely bencher to be subbed in.

The old WC69 CM starter was snubbed this cycle, and reasonably so - Trastiele and Normandie work better together than Rietsa and anyone else. Rietsa is still decently skilled, though, and is another semi-likely substitute.

Buere carries on the proud Catalarguense tradition of being a terrible defender. He's better at the midfielding part of his position, though, and there's plenty of time for him to improve. Some World Cup experience could go a long way.

One fact seems to have ignited a firestorm of controversy regarding why Nwora was put on the bench: He is from the black majority of the Free Commonwealth Region of New Litorea. He's significantly better than the aging Haciava, according to some, but Cevierine is having none of it, leading to accusations of racism towards Cevierine and the Catalarguense Football Association itself. Nevertheless, Cevierine, racist or not, will not hesitate to put Nwora on the field if the time comes for it.

Seats 112,500

Ceǐentere daǐa Cata de Aurië (Gold Coast Center in English), the largest stadium in Cata Larga, has been graciously loaned to the AKC by the Catalarguense Rugby Union to host World Cup qualifying fixtures - for a nominal fee, of course. The AKC hopes that having some of the highest-profile fixtures played in the CCA, in many ways the heart of Catalarguense sport - it's been the traditional home of the Catalarguense national rugby union team since 1896, when it was still known as Glaiciere Park (as it was until the most recent renovation and expansion in 2008), as well as the home field of famed Catalarguense rubgy club CR Commonwealth - will entice the Catalarguense public back towards association football, especially in case the Polos achieve a victory or two. It's got plenty of room for foreign supporters, as well as the few Catalarguense fans expected to show up, as well as very modern facilities. It's a far cry from the typical stadiums associated with the AKC.

The home matches against the Sandwich Territories [Matchday 3], Mizuyuki [Matchday 8], and Vilita [Matchday 11] are scheduled to be played at CCA.

Parkië Cilvanië
Kaciava, Free City of Kapa-Trinieta, Cata Larga
Seats 52,000

Parkië Cilvanië (Sylvan Park in English) is another rugby union focused stadium that's been shanghaied into World Cup qualifying fixture duty. While it's certainly a respectable institution, it's not as modern or as impressive as the cutting edge Ceǐentere daǐa Cata de Aurië - the stadium was last renovated in the early 1990s. However, it's still achieved quite a bit of notoriety thanks to the accomplishments of Parkië Cilvanië's home rugby team, the Kapa-Trinieta Serpents. It's in a more low-key location than CCA, too, being located in a moderately populous suburb of Kapa-Trinieta, the largest city in Cata Larga. The AKC figured it to be a nice, middle-of-the-road option for middle-of-the-road fixtures since it's decently big and in a somewhat notable location, but not so big as to be excessive. Though matches here won't attract as much attention as those in CCA, they certainly won't be completely under the radar.

The home matches against Maklohi Vai [Matchday 6], Atrua [Matchday 13], and Patistan [Matchday 18] are scheduled to be played at Parkië Cilvanië.

Kampa Aciëra
Sant-Francice, Free City of Sant-Francice, Cata Larga
Seats 5,500

The only association football focused stadium to be used in the qualifying run of World Cup 70... is also the smallest of the bunch. Kampa Aciëra (Blue Field in English) is the most modern football stadium in Cata Larga, being built in 2006. However, it's also typical of a Catalarguense football stadium - open air, very small, very little spectators. The AKC was hesitant to choose Kampa Aciëra as a host for World Cup qualifying matches, due to its very small size and its location in one of the smaller free cities of Cata Larga. However, Kampa Aciëra's status as the home of decorated football club UC Sant-Francice, as well as the warmer climate and scenic location of Sant-Francice on the Catalarguense Riviera, won the AKC over. The qualifying committee's still hesitant about it, though, so the AKC chose to host only the lowest-profile matches here, and even then limit the matches played here to two.

The home matches against HAUAHUHAU [Matchday 1] and Valientus [Matchday 16] are scheduled to be played at Kampa Aciëra.

PLAYER BIOS:

1. Ethan Kuhlmann (GK,18,M): Born and brought up in very rough conditions, Kuhlmann is a very physically sturdy goalkeeper. His childhood practice of throwing tennis balls at a wall at a high speed and then collecting the rebound has really increased his agility and power; thus making him the 1st choice goalkeeper of the current Gloriax squad. The word in the media is that Kuhlmann being a young prodigy shows great promise and may even be on his way to great success in the coming years.

2. Megan Miranda (GK,21,F): The first female goalie to ever make it into the Gloriax NT (thanks to the Renaissance), Miranda's first love was never football, although she played it fairly regularly it in her neighbourhood as a pastime activity. Catching the eye of one of the GloScouts, she made her fantasy entry into the Gloriax NT not many months ago. Good 1-on-1 and penalty-saving ability makes her the likelier choice for knockout matches. The general opinion in the Gloriaxian footballing community is that she needs a lot more polishing to be of the standard that is desired.

3. Xuan Stcyr (CB,16,F): Fairly young at the moment, Xuan Stcyr has made an impact in the team's practice sessions with her liveliness, and unending energy and enthusiasm. She has a very accurate long pass which could prove very handy if the Tigers choose to play long ball tactics. A fine final tackle is also up her sleeve for those critical match situations when the opposition is peppering the defence with countless attacks. All of this, of course with the little lack of maturity, which comes across as the only con.

4. Karyl Bayne (LB,22,F): The undisputed glam queen of this squad, Bayne is one of the up-and-coming stars of the Gloriaxian game. Her blistering speed down the wings makes up for the little lack of skill she has on the ball. A very high awareness quality makes her one of the most alert defenders on the field.

5. Hassan Kentner (RB,17,M): A good young talented stopper, Kentner puts himself through as some of the most gutsy defenders around. He is never afraid to go for that odd 50-50 ball and give his 110% for every lose ball. Even though this makes him injury prone, he is a definite starter for high voltage games. To put it in a phrase, he plays with a vengeance - as if he had lended money to all of the opposition attackers, and he wants it back!

6. Otis Pinney (CB,27,M): A well built figure, Pinney can be sensed from the off as one of those defenders who will rarely be over-coming in tackles. Rather, he depends more on timely challenges and shielding the striker away from goal. His ability to know where his team mates are just with a quick glance, is a great statement of his vision, and is an asset to the team. He believes in playing the 'inspiring' game and extracts the 100% performance from his fellow defenders. His age has made an obvious mark on his agility, but his build makes up for it.

10. Rusty Mangano (CM,15,M): The youngest member of the squad, Mangano has already won over the fans with his playmaking ability. Nicknamed in the media as "The Kid", he has always dreamt to be a footballer, and represent his country at the World Cup proper. Although this dream of his is far away at the moment, Mangano is steadily improving his game in the camp. His cheeky lob over defenders and highly penetrating through passes have proven to be highly effective in the practice matches, but lack of patience with the ball is showing in his game. The general feeling in the masses, although is that, "The Kid" has a lot more to give to Gloriax. What we are seeing is just the starting of a scintillating career.

15. Gianna Spahn (CM,19,F): Gianna Spahn, a product of the very recent Renaissance program of the newly-formed Gloriax FA, has shown good promise in the city vs. city matches in the selection rounds. Her down-the-middle runs and swift switchovers to the wings keep the game flowing. She also has the ability to control the tempo of the game, making her an absolute asset for the Gloriaxian squad.

13. Frederico Hiett (LM,22,M): Another fast-paced midfielder, Hiett has a great man-marking ability, making him mostly used more as a defensive left-winger than an attacking one. Still, Hiett can be very useful when operating up the field in the left wing. His swift left foot makes it ideal for him to deliver crosses into the box for easy tap-ins into the net. The opinion in the community is that Hiett will be one of those one-in-a-hundred finds in the talent pool. He only needs that extra bit of nurturing to go that extra mile.

12. Glynda Weekes (RM,25,F): The short-pass expert, Glynda Weekes has an amazing right foot which she can use to whip in fast grounded balls from the edge of the box across the face of the goal for players like Purinton to get a shot in and score. Not the most agile players around, Weekes depends more on the second ball to try and dribble through to the edge of the box and to find that perfect opening for a cross or a shot on goal.

14. James Lindberg (CM,23,M): The super sub of the quality packed midfield, James Lindberg is a good playmaker. May not be a world beater, but certainly one who is good enough to get into the Gloriaxian squad. Great awareness of the positions of players, and silky touches on the ball makes him one of those tough customers to deal with as midfielders - he won't let go of the ball until you foul him. That's his mentality. He is a player who is a fine substitution when the Tigers are winning by a margin of 1-2 goals, and there is hardly 10 minutes left. He will hold the ball, bend the rules, do whatever - but steal away precious seconds from the clock.

11. Lore Coppinger (16,ST,F): Another wonder teen in the Gloriax line-up, Coppinger is one of the most skilfully advanced players on the squad. At the age of just 16, Coppinger has shown great promise as a striker. Her awareness of the goal, superb power in shots, and good heading ability makes her one of the possible future stars in the Gloriax line-up. She also has the uncanny ability of creating assists out of the blue. This makes her a definite inclusion in the Gloriax firing line.

8. Isidro Paull (21,ST,M): The lone male striker in the Gloriax line-up, Paull is known for his net-ripping blistering shots on goal. Although not as agile as expected from an NT striker, he makes up for it with his power and burly build. Thus, he has that strong presence on field that can be felt in the opposition defenders.

7. Dana Stockard (15,ST,F): Another 15-year old promise up from the Gloriaxian talent pool. Blistering speed and switchover passes to the wings don’t make her a potentially difficult customer alone, but with the return ball coming from Weekes and Hiett, there are only handfuls that can stop her. Her commendable passing accuracy makes her available to play as an attacking midfielder for the side if needed.

9. Eloisa Purinton (ST,20,F): The skipper of the Gloriaxian squad, Purinton is the star striker of this new-look Gloriaxian squad. Her ability of taking set-pieces which curl to perfection in the air and amazing skill with the ball is like silk to the eyes. It always seems as if she can weave her way through defenders, no matter how burly and big they are. Amazing placement and curl, however comes with a bit of a lack of shot power. This makes her one of those players who will least likely take a blistering shot from 25 metres away, and rip the back of the net apart; but more of someone who will always find a way through defenders, and place it into the net by sending the keeper the wrong way from not more than 10 yards out. The squad also depends on her spot-kicks, in which she is almost bound to score provided she gets a fair go at it. This, the people say, is the player who will bring Gloriax great glory in the coming years.

Manager: Bucky Freezus
Bucky Freezus has to be considered one of the greatest offensive minds in all of soccer. He is a clear innovator that brings so much to the table for Estope. Following Emanuel Inzer's firing, Freezus was the clear choice for his replacement. His experience in high school girl's basketball along with his motivational speaking ability were the keys that led to his hiring. With those traits it was impossible for Brian Monte, head of the Estope Soccer Association, to ignore him. He was officially announced in the Eighth Campionato Esportiva but did not officially begin his role until after it finished. In his first year he had some hardships, but that was expected since he does not yet have his players to fit his high paced style of play. In World Cup 68 qualifying, the team was much improved, finishing second in the group and advancing to the second playoff. World Cup 69 Qualifying saw Estope win their group but narrowly miss out on qualifying in yet another playoff. With his highly innovative 1-0-9 formation, he has shown that Estope can be competitive and will have them to the World Cup proper very soon.

Assistant Manager: Ed Ogarchetski
Although Coach O has no prior soccer experience, he is great a evaluating talent and yelling at people. Coach O pulled together some of Estope's greatest athletes to be on this team and is an expert in keeping team motivation up.

Head of Estope Soccer Association: Brian Monte
A true innovator, Monte has explored all aspects of social media and fan involvement. Known for his revolutionary contests where fans get to play with the team and catchy hashtags, Monte is constantly pushing the limits and staying one step ahead of the rest of the competition. He considers the hiring of Bucky Freezus to be his greatest achievement. He has many great ideas for this qualification cycle that he hopes will bring greater fan involvement which will lead to great team success.

Cobacaru has proved to have an endless motor in the last few years. With runs up the left side like nobody’s business and a backtracking ability hardly rivaled around the world he is a key cog in the Ants attack and defense.

Percival Devine proved vastly important in the quarterfinal run helping mesh the back for into a cohesive unit that rivaled the best at the world cup finals. With his marking ability the team has never looked better.
4- RCB, Franklyn Hopkins - Real Chinchinhua (Taeshan) 22 Caps, 22 Years Old
Many worried that hulking young center back Franklyn Hopkins would be out of his depth starting for the national team so early, but he proved the naysayers wrong with performance after performance and almost pushed the Ants to unforeseen heights in the world cup finals. His growth in the past few years could be the thing that pushes the Ants to the next level.

7- RB, Decebal Funar - X Island Marauders (Taeshan) 39 Caps , 2 Goals, 24 Years Old
Funar is now a veteran of two qualifying campaigns on the right side and forcing Percival Devine to wait to start and move to the inside of the defense has proven to be a great thing for the fire ants. The back four is probably the best back for in Antoletia history and many think this could be the team to do something great.

12 - DF, Eugen Gabor - Fadron Flight (Taeshan) 4 Caps, 18 Years Old
The starting lineup might be young but the bench is even younger. Gabor is a viable option off the bench at fullback, and is likely the main one off the bench.

A relatively untested option on the bench at fullback, Marius Lupin has just recently come up from the Knightspurs academy in Taeshan and will likely only see the field in low pressure situations.

The only center back option on the bench is Oliver Dalca. Plying his trade in perhaps the most obscure country of any of the players on the Ants, Dalca is as green as the fields in Antoletia.

Von Leeweonheouck is back for his final turn as the leader of the Fire Ants. Now playing for the 19th best club team in the world he is a leader for the team in more ways than one. With his international retirement announced it looks as if this last run at the cup will be a great one for Gheorghe, with a great team behind him.

8 - CAM, Remus Robideau - Tintown Terrapins (Taeshan) 40 Caps, 2 Goals, 25 Years Old
Remus Robideau will patrol the midfield in a more attacking position this season. Many think the new coach has decided to play him basically as a false striker, and in some open training sessions with various Rushmore opponents it seemed that this rumor was true. Hopefully this allows the team to continue their noted goal scoring efforts.

9 - CDM, Raphael - Thunchester City (Northern Sunrise Islands) 96 Caps, 14 Goals, 29 Years Old
It seems like the Ants deep lying playmaker has been around forever, and it is not that far from the truth. Raphael will continue to look to find the correct passes to move the ball forward, and a few short games into the season he will become a centurion for the national team.

13 - CM, Constantine Robideau – X Island Marauders (Taeshan) 35 Caps, 25 Years Old
The other twin was allowed to start in the past season and the connection between the two proved to be a vital part of the Fire Ants run to the quarterfinals. The second set of twins in the history of the team, perhaps they could surpass the noted Antonescu twins with a deep run in the cup so early in their careers.

22 - RM, Hannibal – Atlantea Hurricanes (Taeshan) 97 Caps, 13 Goals, 30 Years Old
It was no surprise when Hannibal returned to Taeshan, a country that so many Antoletians ply their trade in, after his club disbanded in Ittuributa. The longtime Antoletian national team player is getting up there in age and as he closes on the century mark in caps he went back to a nation he has spent so much of his life in.

6- RM, Sylvestre Rochambeau - X Island Marauders (Taeshan) 16 Caps, 23 Years Old
Speedy winger Slyvestre Rochambeau earned 9 caps off the bench in the last qualifiers and it is no surprise why, Speed kills. Lots of teams had to deal with the hulking speedster in the last qualifiers and this upcoming year seems no different.

14 - MF, Simon Costache - X Island Marauders (Taeshan) 6 Cap, 20 Years Old
5 times Coastache was deployed on the left side of midfield to shore up games, and for the most part he proved successful.

Anderson Pondecherry saw the field in one game last year, and he scored 1 goal. So that’s pretty cool.

18 - MF, Awrythr Tudor - Capetown Crocs (Taeshan) 11 Caps, 23 Years Old
If Slyvestre Rochambeau is a speed demon, Tudor is the speed angel. Nicknamed fire and ice in the past qualifiers the two hardly saw the field together, but when one of them came on the looks of worry abounded from the opposing defense.

Nigel proved to be a big find in the past qualifiers. Coming on the field in most of the games he proved a vital defensive midfield boost to win games. And he proved very good at holding up the ball.

With the highest goals to game average in Antoletian history Anton Gregovich is the star of the Antoletia attack, which is saying a lot considering how often the Ants scored in games last year. If he can keep it up the Ants could have a bright future in the upcoming world cup.

Clyde Dickens is a very good scoring threat of the bench. So good that some have been pushing for the ants to use a two striker attack just to see the combination of the two. That said the 1 striker system is working and the Ants don’t need to fix it quite yet.

Yes, it still is an all-female team. As I’ve explained before, this is because the main ball-game that's traditionally been played in Bears Armed is actually a form of Rugby, but [for several reasons] the professional league for that sport is all-male and so some of the female players decided that switching to Soccer — and trying to establish a professional league for that sport for themselves instead — might be a viable alternative: They were right, because that professional league was founded shortly after WC44 and so has now been in operation for over an eightSquared of years.

All of the players are actual Ursines (i.e. anthropomorpic, bipedal Bears)], except for any whom I actually specify as being members of other ‘peoples’ instead. The Harr'aynau people are physically human (more-or-less, anyway, although inclined towards heavy builds & hairiness), but are spiritually & culturally Ursine instead.

According to Bears Armed’s timeline, the qualifiers for WC70 take place in 2107-2108AD, and the Cup proper in 2109AD: All figures given here for people’s ages and lengths of experience are the values applying in the first of those three years.
Yes, these dates do still allow for the fact that a ‘time-loop’ meant that as far as Bears Armed was concerned the WC#66 & WC#67 cycles took place “simultaneously”.

Kit: This incarnation of the team will normally wear the usual set of designs (from ‘ediraf’) that the Belles have favoured in the past, with the ‘Association’ badges correctly staying ‘BAAS’ rather than [the now obsolete] ‘BAMAS’. See "here" for details. However, unlike the incarnations of this team that you’ve actually seen playing before, they have a set of five stars—one for each World Cup triumph (in their own timeline, and all after WC62…) that the Belles had “already” achieved before the match from which they were brought here.
Bears Armed has traditionally used base-8 arithmetic, for several reasons, and this has affected the set of numbers used for this team’s players: The numbers “22”, and “26” have been left unassigned out of respect for wearers who went to their deaths as heroines during various conflicts. This was formerly the case for “10” as well, but in that case the return to playing of Marra SunDaughter — who was that number’s original wearer — has seen the return of the number too.

Home grounds

1/. Wimbley Stadium:[/b] Located a few miles to the north-north-west of Council Groves (our capital city), to which it is connected by rail as well as by road, this stadium was built from scratch — on part of a former Confederal Army base’s site — shortly before the qualifiers for WC52 began as a replacement for the Bear-Belles original “home” at ‘Plumtrees Park’ which has now been demolished. Its current capacity is approximately 60'000 for Ursines: Fitting about 40’000 humans into the visiting fans' half should be possible, and so that's as many as we'll let into the country. Accommodation for visiting teams & their staffs will be provided in a new hotel, less than a mile away, which has staff who are accustomed to dealing with Humans as well as with Ursines. The various other hotels in that complex and those at Council Groves can now provide about 12’000 rooms at a time, at varying prices, although of course some of those may already have been booked by people who have nothing to do with the Cup. Accommodation (at a fairly basic level) for up to 15’000 supporters will be available, at reasonable prices, in students' residences for the National University’s campus in that city: if any more than all of those facilities put together can house want to attend a match then they’ll have to borrow space in the area’s remaining Army camp instead...
There are still no direct inter-regional flights into Council Groves, so that visitors will have to travel by way of one of our neighbours and then continue onwards by one of the limited number of "local" air-flights or by rail. (People planning to arrive by rail will still have to travel via the nation of Mikitivity, but extra services will be organised on that route...)
This site will be used for most, but not all, of the Belles' matches. (list to be added)

2./ ‘NorthLands National Stadium’: Located at NorthPort, the most cosmopolitan city in The Ursine Northlands, this facility was originally built for use by the 'Northbears' WC49’s qualifiers. Unfortunately the place has since seen rather less use than was originally hoped, but it is still in good condition and will hold about 43’000 Ursines or over 60’000 humans (or, of course, proportionate numbers of a mixture of those two species) because it was deliberately built to be rather larger than 'Plumtrees Park' which was then the Mainland's 'national' stadium…
This site will be used for some of the Belles’ home games (list to be added), and also for some of their friendlies & matches in other Cups during this period as specified separately.
Foreigners coming to this stadium may either travel to the ‘Mainland’ and then continue hence via a set of ancient [& probably magical] ‘Gates’ that link the country’s two sections — completing their journey by either rail or riverboat after that — or take ship directly to NorthPort.

NOTES

Ursines may tend to be a bit less agile & slower to accelerate than humans on average, but this team's members were carefully selected so the gap between them & their opponents in this respect should be narrower than some people might expect. They do tend to have [slightly] poorer eyesight than humans, on the whole (although the members of both Clan Gunnar and the Sun Clan are generally an exception to this rule, and the eyesight of the latter group is actually often at [slightly] better-than-human levels instead), so long-distance passes & shots at goal will tend to be rarer behaviour for them than they are for human teams... but their typical size & strength mean that when they're running with the ball it will probably take a very brave human — as well as a very skilled one — to tackle them successfully (or, at least, one who has reasonable experience of playing against Ursines…), which should balance that factor pretty well. They don’t jump very well, but then they’re generally rather taller than most Human players to start with so they shouldn’t need to jump as often in order to intercept [relatively] high shots...
Ursines are physically robust, of course, which means that they're much less likely than humans are to suffer injuries in falls or collisions. The females of this species are more even-tempered than the males, and the team's members will try to stay on their best behaviour not only in order to do well in this contest but also to impress upon the watching humans that Ursines aren't just "dumb beasts". They will not 'dive', or feign injury in other ways, because suggesting that they could be harmed so easily goes strongly against the grain. ‘Northlanders’ are maybe not quite as "civilised" as the 'Mainlanders'… or, at any rate, that’s the traditional stereotype..
Cold weather should pose no problem to them, even if there's snow or ice on the pitch, but tropical heat might prove awkward...


Unless our hosts at the match in question object, this team's members (including the designated substitutes for the match in question) will perform a [fairly short] ritual that's called the 'harrdiharr' on the pitch just before play begins... This is a traditional war-dance, meant to over-awe opponents, that has come to be a customary prelude for team games as well (similar to the [RL] New Zealanders' 'haka'...). : )
As has now been seen during various tournaments, some of our fans like to take drums — and possibly also 'Urrs-horns' [which are similar to Alpenhorns, cow-horns, or other "musical instruments", too — along to the matches…

The team is accompanied by a number of sapient Ravens, who are there both to gather information about the rival sides and to provide air cover in case of hostile waterfowl.

Talented shot stopper who seems to have forced his way ahead of the veteran Medrán in the national setup. Reads the game well and is quick off his line, a key talent in Farías’ attack-minded strategy.

A regular in the Sportivo goal at the age of just 19, big things are expected of the young shot stopper.

DR: 2. Cristiano Damían (28) – Dínamo Maturín
Back in the SuperLiga fold after a productive spell in Astograth, the former Ciudad Soluca trainee has found his feet quickly at his new club. A fallback by trade but pushed further forward in the coach’s new look formation.

A favourite of Farías after serving him well in the Under-21 team, the Olympic Squad and at Ciudad. A solid defender with an excellent reading of the game. Equally adept at centreback or fallback.
DC: 6. Matías Sosa (34) – Liria Prizren (Mytannion)
A free scoring centreback whose temperament has been known to get him in a spot of bother. So he probably feels right at home in Mytannion. Despite that slight flaw he captains the national side.
DL: 3. Mauricio Abeyta (27) – Alianza Jucaro
A buccaneering fallback who clearly longs to be a winger. An attacking threat down the left with a powerful shot and accurate cross. Unfortunately his defensive duties are sometimes forgotten.
DLC: 12. Dacio Sanz (27) – Dínamo Maturín
Quick and highly capable when his mind’s on the game but prone to the occasional catastrophic loss of concentration.
DRC: 14. Cristón Espinal (26) – El Nacional
A rightback by trade but often pressed into service in the centre of defensive during an injury crisis in Goza last season. Another former member of Farías’ Olympic Squad.
DLC: 19. Jonás Jacinto (28) – Ciudad Soluca
Made a surprise move from Segunda Liga side Motril to capital city giants Ciudad and hasn’t looked back. Adds a nice balance to Farías new three man defence.
DC: 21: Aurelio Pascual (31) – Sportivo Cordova
Only a dearth of strong centrebacks has kept Pascual out of national team reckoning for this long. But after strong domestic season has finally seen the Cordova man force his way into the squad.

MC: 4. Eduardo Zacarías (24) – Sporting San Marquez
A midfielder with tremendous lung capacity. His box-to-box runs were a key part of Dunas Del Sol’s excellent domestic campaign. Another who has completed a new season move to the Estadio Generalissimo Joaquín Delgado.
AMR: 7. Javier Jerez (35) – Sporting San Marquez
A tricky winger with plenty of technique but a willowy frame that struggles to compete with the game’s more physical practitioners. But still the best supply of crosses in the squad.
MC: 8. Rodrigo Defederico (35) – Dunas Del Sol
A talented midfielder who once had every Sargossan club of stature fighting over his signature before turning down the likes of Sporting San Marquez and Ciudad Soluca to make the move to Astograth. Now back at his first club.
AML: 11. Federico Cifuentés (25) – Dínamo Maturín
It’s entirely possible that Federico could have represented Sargossa at the Olympic 100m, such is the pace hidden away in his diminutive frame. A real terror for opposition fallbacks, although a consistent delivery shy of being genuinely world class.
AMRC: 15. Flavio Freitas (27) – El Nacional
A tireless attacking midfielder whose impressive work rate and never say die attitude make him a firm favourite among Gozans and neutrals alike.
MC: 16. Germán Sauseda (26) – Ciudad Soluca
Midfield playmaker with a prestigious range of passing. Sauseda stood out in a fairly average Porto Alegro Azul side that consistently punched above its weight. Brought to Ciudad by Farías during his spell in charge.
DMC: 18. Mateo Olmedo (26) – Alianza Jucaro
The latest in a long line of talented midfielder anchor-men produced by our mighty archipelago. Prone to nosebleeds if he crosses the halfway line.
DMC: 22. Matías Escobar (33) – Marinos Metropolis (Valladares)
An old fashioned midfield destroyer who can run all day without breaking a sweat. Consistently good performances in the Liga De Fuego led to a move abroad.
AMLC: 24. Ivan Ávila (34) – Ciudad Soluca
A regular understudy for the great Alejandro Echeverría at the Estadio Generalissmo Joaquín Delgado and with the national side. He may have cleared thirty but that ability to thread the ball through the eye of a needle hasn’t faded.

FC: 9. Federico Ferreyra (33) – El Nacional
A penalty area predator who made his name for little Nuevo Onwere before making the move to Astograth. Enjoyed spells at both Gortz Utd and Urbizania Wanderers before being snapped up by the Gozan giants.
FC: 10. Stefano Bustos (29) – Sportivo Soluca
At 6’4” the Sportivo targetman is a real threat in the air and adds the perfect option if ‘hoof it to the big fella’ is required.
FC: 17. Federico Noyola (26) – Sporting San Marquez
Yet another gem unearthed from the barrios of San Marquez and polished by ‘El Academia’. Has an uncanny knack of being in the right place and the right time and has proved a scourge of SuperLiga defences because of it. A natural successor to Ferreyra.
FRC: 20. Saturnín Quinteros (28) – Ciudad Soluca
Big things were expected of a forward who caught the attention with a seventy four goal season for one of Ciudad’s many youth teams. Often used as an attacking midfielder at club level by Farías so more of the same could be expected.
FL: 23. Enzo Jara (23) – Sportivo Soluca
An out-and-out winger who offers pure pace down the flank. Capable of tying opposition defenders up in knots but often lacking composure in the final third.

Introduction-

After the Felixian invasion, Mendoya switched control from the Nationalist sympathizing government to a new one that was loyal to democratic Felix. Many Mendoyans, sill brainwashed by old Nationalist propaganda, were outraged by the change of government. So Mendoyans began to actively resist Felixian rule. Some joined the local militias to undermine the new colonial government and other decided to do that by playing football for the national team. These players come from all walks of life from Mendoyan sailors in the Felixian Navy to a simple carpenters or chefs. The Mendoyan national team is a great example of a people's team devoid of professionalism. The team is coached by former Unión Española assistant manager, Mario Gomez. He has experience coaching in the youth academy of Dusseldorf F.C and of course, being assistant manager at Unión Española. He has no relation to Mendoya other than the fact he was offered a chance to coach there. With that over and done with, here is the official roster of the Mendoyan National Football Team.

World Cup 20 & 68 Champions

The Football Association of Vilita is based at the Tivali-Ring Stadium (87,000 Seating Capacity) in the capital city of Alikki-Corra, Vilita and many National Team training sessions take place on the grounds of the Tivali-Ring. The Tivali-Ring complex was constructed as part of the Vilitan bid to host the World Cup 14 Cup of Harmony as a replacement to the former National Stadium in Lopinka that was destroyed during a regional conflict. 'The Ring' has since hosted countless international matches including high profile matches such as the World Cup 31 Final and the 40th Series 'B' Champions Cup Final.

Despite being based at the Ring, The Football Association of Vilita regularly schedule matches at arenas throughout Vilita, especially bigger matches as many of the stadiums that host Stellar Division and UICA competition matches have expanded far beyond the 87,000 capacity of the National Stadium at Tivali-Ring, which is used only for the National Team, and, domestically for the Vilitan Cup Final and Tropical Trophy matchups. The Football Association typically releases a stadium schedule when applicable.

The Descendant of former Vilitan star Jimmy Kater finally got the major silverware desired to validate his career in Vilitan Sport leading the Vilita & Turori Eel-Cat things to back-to-back AOCAF 41 & AOCAF 42 titles in a Player/Coach role. After many years of success as the starting goalkeeper at Strike FC and for the Vilitan National Team, disappointment at the international level left Kater searching for more. He left Strike in order to reduce his domestic fixture load and focus on International play. While the World Cup title continued to be elusive, Kater led the team from between the sticks in AOCAF 41 and continued in the role for AOCAF 42.

Kater teamed up with Calaesa Mitaroka to lead the Jungle Cats to the World Cup 68 title, before taking permanent control of the team in World Cup 69.

An aspiring Astronaut, Zelkki Milake's sporting career took added importance when he signed for Eastal Lunar FC at the age of 16 and immediately became the clubs starting goalkeeper for the Season 41 Declasse Division campaign. Milake kept a series of clean sheets that kept Eastal Lunar in the top half of the table for the majority of the season and still mathematically in the hunt for promotion entering the final matchday. The 1-0 victory over Akisa Surta combined with a Turoki Isle draw propelled Eastal Lunar into the top two and ensured that the young Milake would be thrust into action against some of the top players in the world as a Stellar Division goalkeeper for V-League Season 42. It wasn't at Eastal Lunar that Milake would make a name for himself, however. The young Vilitan goalkeeper opened his International Career with four-consecutive clean sheet performances and earned a place as a reserve player on the World Cup 67 World XI team. The performances for the National Team would earn Milake a transfer to Lonngeylin Coast after Eastal Lunar's Season 42 relegation. World Cup 68 Would be a coming out part for Milake who was in goal for the Jungle Cats as they lifted the World Cup Trophy for the first time in 48 editions with a 4-2 win over the Free Republics, making Milake one of the youngest starting netminders to win the World Cup.

At the midway point of the season Mitaroka was setting the Declasse on fire with skillful performances and caught the attention of the Vilitan coaches who added Mitaroka to the World Cup 59 roster despite having never been called to the National Team before. After their promotion back to the Stellar Division for season 38, the Electricians of Arctical Inlet made Mitaroka their primary target, landing him for a large transfer fee. Mitaroka helped lead the Tide back to the UICA Champions Cup. Mitaroka would become a mainstay in the National Team squad under the leadership of his namesake Calaesa including starting in, and scoring a goal in the World Cup 68 Final won by Vilita

A decsendent of the exciting Marine Coast and Yeaddin midfielder Jonjo Hulyer, Jomur has been compared heavily to his ancestors and even carries the same squad number. Unlike Jonjo, however, Jomur was trained at the Yeaddin Academy. Hulyer would soon become the quickest player to ever represent all three of the original Vilitan Dynasties, signing his first professional contract with Marine Coast United before transferring to Strike for VLeague 28. The list of honors earned by Hulyer in Lonngeylin was massive, with 5 appearances in the Tropical Trophy, 3 Stellar Division Championships and a Vilitan Cup title in addition to being a finalist for Vilitan player of the Season every season he spent in Lonngeylin. After Strike failed to claim a Champions League place following Season 35, Hulyer decided it was time for a change of scenery, moving to Turori to join forces with Mliona-Lpaka FC. Soon after, however, Hulyer did something unprecedented, retiring from domestic competition in order to focus on his performances for the National Team. Hulyer un-retired from the domestic league during Season 41, returning to Mliona-Lpaka to fight against his old side Strike FC for the title. The experienced Hulyer came on as a sub in the World Cup 68 final won by Vilita.

After scoring 5 times for Kiiarana during their Season 41 Declasse campaign, the youngster made the switch across town to Kiiara-Torra in order to re-unite with Eel-Cat things head coach Nycflala Kater and return to the Stellar Division. The magic never came through, however, and eventually, Riazen returned to the Stellar Division by transfer - to Arcticala Inlet

Moliaudo mostly performed well netting 4 goals and having a strong rating, but still left some wondering if there was more talent to be mined from the Marine Coast youngster. After Bansoa left Marine Coast for greener pastures, Moliaudo remained and his stock also decreased. After a second relegation with Marine Coast, Moliaudo jumped ship up the Vilitan coast to Kiiarana City. Moliaudo was named player of the season 3 times at Kiiarana City. After transferring, Moliaudo was a member of the Cednia Beach AFC squad that won the Vilitan Cup during Season 43, and subsequently went on to win the 50th UICA Globe Cup, the first ever UICA Top-Level Champions from Turori. Moliaudo's late career success continued into World Cup 68 having scored in the Final.

Young prospect Disterfred pushed Inura Forests into the top half of the Season 38 Declasse, earning player of the season honors at the club and earning recognition as a serious propsect for the National Team. Disterfred was a member of the AOCAF 41 Championship Winning side, but did not start any of the 7 matches en-route to the title. When head coach Nycflala Kater took a back seat early in the competition during AOCAF 42, however, Disterfred had his chance to play as Vilita & Turori earned their second consecutive AOCAF title. However, Disterfred's domestic career took a negative turn when Inura Forests were relegated out of the Vilitan League, prompting a cross-country transfer to the Kionao Locals in the Declasse division. Despite the strong leadership of Lita Adjei and good performances in the UICA Competitions, Kionao was unable to get promoted and eventually Disterfred would move to Turoki Isle in order to get a chance to play in the Stellar Division

Snapped up at a young age by the Turoki Tide who identified a young Deniibo as an ideal prospect to play along side and be tutored by the Tide's Turorian National team goalkeeper Hooizo Nuakoi. After spending 5 seasons as apprentice to Nuakoi in Turoki, Deniibo switched to Lonngeylin City in an attempt to get regular first team action.

A Dual Vilita & Turori National, Atla-Siioai was invited to the Vilitan World Cup 57 Training camp - but so were 6 other goalkeepers. Atla-Siioai transferred from the Kionao Locals to Vilitan side Turoki United for the V-League 27 season. While his play for Turoki was solid, the impact of Atla-Siioai's presence was most evident back in Turori as the Locals were relegated from the V-League with a club record 20 defeats. While showing the importance of having Atla-Siioai in the squad, the fact that the Goalkeeper left the Locals high and dry has not left a good impression on their Turorian fanbase. Atla-Siioai has, however, made a name for himself in Turoki, repeatedly being named Supporters Player of the Season and leading the team into UICA Competition places including the clubs first UICA Champions Cup appearance following Season 36. Atla-Siioai has been the Player of the Year at Turoki United every season since joining the club. Atla-Siioai was named Turorian player of the season during Season 41 when he led Turoki United to their second Vilitan Cup title and again when leading Turoki United to their first Vilitan Stellar Division championship during Season 42, also leading the Turori National Team to the Second Round of the World Cup. Atla-Siioai would lead Turoki United to a repeat Stellar Division championship during Season 43, and would lead his club to the UICA Champions Cup Final. Although defeated in the final, Atla-Siioai's performances earned him the reputation as one of the top goalkeepers in the world.

Nuakoi, a dual Vilitan & Turorian national, entered World Cup 58 qualifying uncapped and undeclared for either Nation. Nuakoi was widely expected to openly declare Turorian Nationality going into the qualifying, but with the rise of rival Ronji Miiastara, Nuakoi decided to leave the door open to a Vilitan return should he remain uncapped for Turori. After spending Season 26 and 27 at Turoki Isle, Nuakoi made the move to the Yeaddin Owls midway through Season 27 to become their #1 keeper. Nuakoi returned to Turoki during Season 29, joining the Turoki Tide as they finished runners up in the Stellar Division. Nuakoi was important in the Tide's success in the Tropical Trophy, the clubs first major Top-Level silverware, before rising to prominence in the lore's of the opening of a new chapter of Sporting Success in Turoki. Nuakoi led the Tide to the Stellar Division championship during Seasons 32 and 33 before a remarkable run to defeat rivals Strike FC in the 40th Globe Cup Final for Turoki's first International club competition title. Nuakoi's performances in goal were critical as a 0-0 shutout performance in the final match gave the Tide a remarkable victory in the UICA Super Cup, the first Vilitan League side to lift the trophy.

Tuirma will certainly be starting as a substitute during their debut campaign in World Cup 62 but may get the chance to start against weaker opposition. After being brought up through the academy system at Kionao, Tuirma signed a professional contract with Colonial Sile in Vilita for Season 35, winning silverware in the first match, the Tropical Trophy triumph over Strike. Tuirma's stay in Sile didn't last long, however, coaxed back to the luxury of Arcticala Inlet to help in their Champions-Cup qualifying campaign of Season 38. Tuirma returned to Turori during Season 44 as a member of Mliona-Lpaka AFC

Mumamba was the definition of a versatile player for Vilita's Yeaddin Owls after joining them for the V-League 27 season from Jlinal Cove FC. Mumamba played in every position from Central Defender to Striker, scoring a game winning goal in one game and a game saving tackle in the next. Mumamba is an expert choice for a third sub or to allow tactical changes on the pitch without substitutions being made. The strong and versatile performances of Mumamba during Season 28 earned Mumamba a high profile transfer to defending Stellar Division champions Arcticala Inlet but he left the Electricians the following season to be apart of the growing Yeaddin Owls squad. Mumamba spent 4 seasons in Yeaddin without recording any meaningful domestic awards other than the Season 29 Turorian Player of the Season award. The lure of international competition was too great for Mumamba who joined the Turoki Tide for Season 34, doing so in time for their 43rd UICA Cycle run. Mumamba helpd the Tide lift the UICA Globe Cup and UICA Super Cup, one of three Turorian players on the roster for the Tide's Triumph. However, after achieving glory with the Tide, Mumamba returned to his former club Yeaddin, vowing to one day bring the same success back to the Lirai Asku Castle.

The Felixian Football Association Presents...

The Felixian National Football Team

Intro-

At this rate Felix might be Nationalist again by the next World Cup. Yup, Felix has once again changed their government after a brutal civil war resulted in the overthrow of Nationalists and the restoration of democracy. Former president, Tamara Van Der Ven, is now the temporary president until presidential elections can once begin again (congressional elections have already occurred). Along with the change of government was the change of culture in the FFA as government influence waned dramatically and the FFA was once again free from pressures from a Nationalist government.

Despite the new government though, the FFA still expects their Mizuyuki-jin manager to do better than the Round of 16 finish stating in a recent press conference the FFA is looking for a quarterfinal finish from the Felixian national side. So with all that in play how good is this team? Can they make it to the World Cup in San Jose Guayabal/Equestrian States? Judging by the new additions and their group they have a pretty solid chance in making it to the biggest sporting stage of them all.

Players to look out for in this version of national team include Kiki Nuremberg from Audioslavian club 1830 Cathair FC along with her understudy and biggest competitor, Arthur Schultheis from a highly successful Sieberg (Felix). In the defense front that is missing some old greats will need Lalo Urbina and Ute Kästner to perform great if Felix is to qualify to the finals. The next Sebastian Krister (as some call him), Rudolf Venetianer will receive his first set of World Cup starts. Will he be just as good as Krister? We'll find out. And lastly we have the retiring international footballer Mikel Araboa who has announced that this WC will be his last and will be the last forward from the original BoF class to leave. So will he also help mentor Gösta Ahlberg and Fiacre Bellerose? The future of Felixian strikers? We'll find that out soon enough.

[Kinitaria]

The 69 cycle was played out in bizarre circumstances. Entirely cut off from their home base, the exiled Kinitar side played all of their home matches in nearby Torisakia. The psychological effect was plain to see on the team, and, languishing eight points off the playoffs with five games to play, the authorities in Mi'ato fired manager Melody Pond in absentia. Whatever happened afterwards, Kinitaria mounted a remarkable comeback to squeeze into a playoff spot and qualify from the playoffs for the first time in six attempts. Now, with a new and ambitious government installed and the national side playing home matches again, expectations are high ahead of the new cycle.

Manager: Milo Serinev (P10 W6 D3 L1) - age 43
Serinev has worked with this side for a lot longer than his ten-game record might suggest; he was previously the assistant manager for a good five cycles. He's a fierce leader who wears his heart on his sleeve, never afraid to tell people what he thinks, and he's already won a lot of respect amongst the players. He prefers a 4-4-2 diamond in an offensive style with wingers marauding forward; this might adapt to a 4-3-3 when chasing goals. Kinitaria's problem for a long time has been an infamously leaky defense; can he do anything about it?

To date, Sulemcev is the only Kinitar national player ever to have scored more goals into his own net than at the right end. He's beaten his own keeper three times.

Alcič has never been one to mince his words. After a particularly bad league performance, his only comment for waiting journalists was, "I know, that was f***ing awful".

The home kit is based on the colours of the new Technocratic State. It marks a break with the old order. The restoration of national manufacturer KT-Sport to the shirt shows the resurgence of national unity.

The new away kit is a smart yellow affair with black trim. Like the home kit, it bears the new symbol of the Kinitar state.

Stadium

Following one cycle of exile in Torisakia, international football will be restored to the pride of Kinitar football - the 76,000 capacity Central Stadium in the capital Mi'ato. Away fans will be allocated a maximum of 6,000 tickets, in the north-west corner of the upper (third) tier. Visiting supporters should note that Kinitar fans will show their passion in a number of ways, some of which would be condemned by other nations for being too violent. The Kinitar Football Federation considers this to be just a part of the game. Riot police will step in if things get too bad, but you shouldn't expect too much help either way.

Description: Pekarik once played for the Terns as a left-back. Well, not once, but a hundred and forty one times. He managed to get fifteen assists and six goals and even captained his country once. Certainly impressive. On club level, he played for East Franz Athletic, Urajbina of Kagdazka and Pazhujebu, and then FC Axel Heiburg, winning the Champions' Cup as captain before retiring and going into a coaching role with the club. Later followed manager Morten Rasmussen to the Terns to become assistant manager through all the Terns' final appearances. We sincerely hope we do not suffer a disappointment remotely as huge as the Terns did. He's a hard-nosed guy, so he will encourage strong tackles and shout a lot in the dressing room. And now comes the weird part, he prefers defensively strong formations. Yet he's now managing Farfadillis. Talk about a challenge. He does not like gung-ho attacking. Again, talk about a challenge. After a decade learning from Rasmussen, it was about time Steffan started to do things on his own, though. We just think this could be too big a challenge. Steffan is famously hard on his players if they're found to be guilty of complacency or lazy play, and he drills his players hard on the training pitch. Many Farf players are likely to cause him migraine as a result. He's not be afraid of ruffling feathers with popular/lazy/show pony players. He'll take no prisoners, suffer no fools, and allow no airs or graces. Everyone works hard, everyone gets the rewards. That's the philosophy he'll try to make prevail facing the particularly eccentric national team he's chosen. The fight's been hard so far, and, though he's not achieved the best of results, he sure has been making the team progress, at least defensively.

Assistant Manager

Goalkeepers

Name: Erfaon Lisdiren Delanuitnoire
Age: 36
Team: Colonial Sile
Description: Lisdiren is the last resort of the team to prevent a goal (though that applies to every goalkeeper, of course). Despite being the last resort, the entire team often relies on him being in a good day, in which he almost always is. The thing is, Farfadillis' attacking style, in which some defenders attack more than they defend, pretty much means there will always be many shots on goal from the opposing team. This is when Lisdiren steps in and saves the day. He can and probably will stop just about any shot within what's possible for him (and that's a lot of shots), but he gives rebounds often. The most reliable technique to score against him is to either shoot powerfully and have a good poacher, have a clinical finisher, or just outnumber him in a counterattack, passing the ball to the side when he approaches you one-on-one. Match reports will often rate him as a six or more, even if Farfadillis concedes like four goals. He can, obviously, perform badly, but it's rare. As good as he may be, don't take him as better than, say, Iulian Kirilaunen or Kajaxo Imaslavii. He's not on that level. Age does not seem to have been affecting him much, but Röhj Tzâín is eagerly waiting to overtake him, and he just might. Also, Lisdiren is one of the two players to have played every game the national team has played. This is likely to be his last World Cup cycle.

Team: Mâ Âlâmëómë
Description: Heralded as Lisdiren's heir, winning the Di Bradini Cup certainly increased the fuss. Without a doubt, he's a great goalkeeper. One with a very bright future, certainly. He's pretty lazy inside the pitch in that he hates to organize the defense, but Rossizzo seemed to be doing a fine job in instigating it to him. Pekarik is even better at it. Apart from that, he's an all-around wonderful goalkeeper. He's not really tall, just of average height, but his saves can be stunning. Sometimes, neutrals find his saves better than the goal that would've been. He's quick-tempered, but he's also from Ruland, and knows very well what he can and cannot do to not harm the team. His talent has been increasing at an unbelievable rate.

Name: Sifé Rigutti Fazeré
Age: 29
Team: Ousteeble TU
Description: Sifé Rigutti is a pretty good goalkeeper who has been unlucky enough to live in era in between Lisdiren's and Tzâín. He's very secure with the ball, and often denies the opponent any rebounds. Sadly, unlike Lisdiren, his diving is nothing extraordinary and and, as a result, he cannot save Farfadillis nearly as much as Lisdiren does. He's a very good leader, and would no doubt do well if he started. It's just that Lisdiren and Tzâín are even better. Still, Rigutti's a very safe choice for... third goalkeeper.

Name: Ascensión Espiritual Ekvinter González

Team: Avenida Victoria
Description: Ekvinter was a part of the Di Bradini Cup-winning squad that Risko Kâí captained to glory. He was a substitute to Rôhj Tzâín, sure, but nobody can deny he's got the talent going for him. Already a starter for Avenida Victoria following the club's hero Benjamín Basurto's retirement, this man may just be second choice to Rôhj Tzâín throughout his international career, but he's as safe as second choices come.

Defenders

Name: Leo Mario Fakkotti Hojaverde
Age: 30
Team: Minault United
Description: Fakkotti is a tall defender who blends that with an above-average speed and a great understanding of the game tactically-speaking. He blends attacking and defending well, too. He's not the guy who caves in under pressure, which was evident when he captained the Di Bradini squad that would get to the final in that country of the black flag with the cross or something. He was unfortunate enough to get injured before the AOCAF Cup Farfadillis won started, but he was admittedly happy about his friend Frêndê, who retired in that exact tournament. Without a doubt a great way to retire for his teammate. Recently signed for Valladar team Minault United. He's probably going to be replaced in the future; age's starting to show.

Name: Cleto Mata Tarariras
Age: 27
Team: Gwinevra Barbarians
Description: Mata's been around since the U-15's, having been the star of the U-15 World Cup 1 Farf squad. He's a defender with astonishing dribbling and an eye for a goal when it comes to venturing into the opponent's box. He's good defensively, more than good in many areas, though from a Farf perspective. He excels, however, at how he can bring his team out of the box whenever they park the bus without intending to (which rarely happens when playing for Farfadillis, to be fair). He can start a counterattack in a matter of seconds, and will often take needless risks by dribbling an opponent inside the box. However, up to this date, none of the teams he's defended has had to regret him doing this. Never has any other player played the very definition of Farf defender so well. Pekarik doesn't like his style, though. But what other options does he have?

Name: Santos José Alaminos Soldado
Age: 29
Team: Colonial Sile
Description: Yes, Cleto Mata may be the best Farf-style defender out there, but nobody doubts that Santos Alaminos is who prevents the defense from collapsing. He's a wonderful player when it comes to defending. He'd probably be a centre back if it weren't for his wonderful attacking skills. He can cover the holes Mata leaves and help the attack too. He can and will dribble his way out of the box, instead of clearing the ball like most other defenders would. He never, however, dribbles when it's not necessary. He's very disciplined and will only do what's best for the team. He's not tremendously fast, though he is fast. It's his incredible endurance that stands out. He can survive his own continuous runs up and down the pitch, somehow. He always gives his all and a bit more, and that's probably what places him above so many other players who'd like to play in his place. Going back to his attacking, he might be that extra player that finally breaks the opposing defense, as when it comes to offense he's just another talented midfielder who can do as he wishes with the ball. He seemed to blossom in World Cup 67, being one of the best players of the squad, with his most remarkable performance being against Valanora. The AOCAF Cup after that proved no different, having been key for the Farf success in it. His most notable performance was in the semifinal against Vilita, in which he scored twice. Unlike Mata, Alaminos is one of Pekarik's favourites. He's now in his prime. Be scared.

Name: Ivaktör Mâr Bârr Rîk-Ândré
Age: 25
Team: Northbrook Diamonds
Description: A product of Dí Maozöxê's youth academy, Bârr has gotten here thanks to a few good performances in the Di Bradini Cup Farfadillis won and, specifically, because he performed incredibly in that Di Bradini Cup's final. He's a quick-tempered defender, but he can strike fear in all but the most brave strikers, even at his age. He's tall, fast, and very strong. His technique is decent, but he's less skilled than most Farf defenders. He's a titan in the air, however. He's got the ability to read the game really well when fully focused. It has been proved that whenever Bârr is provoked, one of two things happen: either he gets sent off or he plays flawlessly. Pekarik was trying to make him channel his anger in the second way, obviously. We do know Pekarik doesn't help his temper at all, though. Bârr has been recently signed by the renowned Polarian club Northbrook Diamonds, where it is rumoured he'll be trained to leave his Farf "defending" mindset behind, making him a fully-Polarian defender. That could be exactly what Farfadillis needs. His teacher is Niko Marek, who shared the Polarian defense with Pekarik in the early days! Now that's interesting. Pekarik's wants to ease him into the starting eleven as soon as possible.

Name: Salomón Cayfú Martínez
Age: 24
Team: La Nueva Avenida
Description: Cayfú is a defender with a talent for bombing forward. Like every Farf defender in existence. However, he has another talent that is extremely rare in Farf defenders: he knows when it is convenient to bomb forward and when it is not. This alone was more than enough for Pekarik to take a liking to him. Salomón had already sparked Rossizzo's interest before, however, so Pekarik's not seeing something nobody saw before. Originally from Libertarian Ferdullaele's pretty respectable youth system, La Nueva Avenida quickly signed him after he showed what he was capable of for a Di Bradini Cup-winning squad that will be remembered for many years to come. As a bonus for Pekarik, he does know how to defend properly. That's notable. Notorious for some Farves.

Name: John Dragonslayer Richardson
Age: 22
Team: Waldenøya Bears
Description: Son of Apoxian parents, born and raised in Farfadillis. At the age of fourteen, he moved to the Polar Islandstates. There, he started a career in football (sort of). For Waldenøya Bears, a mediocre club at best. They're currently fighting relegation in the Divisjon 2. Beyond his awesome surname, little is known about John. However, Pekarik's reasons for calling him up are evident: he's astonishingly rough when playing. So far he's been reponsible for four serious injuries at youth level, yet he's only received two red cards. He seems to be good at hiding the crimes he commits. Pekarik must've been really desperate to call up a twenty-year old player from his country's second division, and from a club fighting relegation no less. However, the same club has something going for it: they've already produced a World-Class defender in the form of Willem Otkupshchikov. Alright, maybe World-Class is pushing it, but the guy was good enough to be called up by the current best national team in the world. He seems to have been unable to catch the attention of some more important team, but it shouldn't be too long before he leaves for a decent team.

Name: Rancisc Albus Faró Ígneo
Age: 30
Team: Red Star Severny
Description: Faró is Dandalleion's half-brother (on his mother side). He's, just like him, very fast, though not as much. He's not the best of defenders, and indeed his defensive skills are above-average at best, but his very good reflexes sort of make up for it, as well as his skills with the ball, being able to dribble and pass, something many good defenders can't do (though most Farf defenders can). Many goals that come from the centre are his fault, however, but Mêndêlöíndçêl and Alaminos are players who are perfectly capable of patching the holes Faró leaves. Still, don't ever think he's a bad player, as no bad player can reach the Divisjon One, become his team's captain and play for his national team. He has recently fallen from grace, after a long streak of bad performances, but he could return any time. It's unlikely, though.

Midfielders

Name: Yurpá Mêndêlöíndçêl Nüyntâk
Age: 31
Team: Mâ Âlâmëómë
Description: Say hello to the captain, and one of the best players of the team. If there's anyone who knows what playing for Farfadillis is, it's either Lisdiren or him, with both having played each and every game the national team has played. If there's anyone who knows about tough times, it's without a doubt Yurpá. He had to work his way out of Ruland, a complete hell-hole, by leaving his family behind to get to where he is now. He has had to make many tough decisions throughout his life. But enough drama, nobody cares about it right now. When it comes to football, all decisions seem very easy to him. He can strip any player from the ball as soon as he/she/it is unfortunate enough to give this frenzied midfielder half a centimetre. He is a machine. His endurance is almost unmatched. He can often be seen connecting sprints in a way that seems impossible. When he puts his eyes on the ball, it's all he cares about. This probably should be a flaw of his, but it's not. He will slide, jump, do just about anything to get the ball, but he never gets sent out. Indeed, he never commits unnecessary fouls. He's as clean a player as you may find, at least from the referee's perspective. He's not as good with the ball as some other players in the team, but he's by no means bad. He can provide teammates with assists, something he often did for his Astograthian club Oyardo, and dribble his way into the box (which is admittedly rare). However, there's one thing at which he excels, which is an added bonus that makes him the incredibly threatening player he is: he's very good from long range. His shots are not necessarily precise, though they tend to be. It's their sheer speed that makes them impossible to stop for the goalkeeper. Now, obviously, he'll be missing some attempts, and it may be difficult for him to find the space to shoot, but if he gets, say, three long-range shots in one match, chances are the other team is in deep trouble. He just seems to wreak his anger when he lets those missiles off his right foot. He can shoot with his left foot, too, but he's not that good with it. Despite being the captain, he's a very silent player inside the pitch, and will probably be the last person to be sent out due to being disrespectful to the referee. There's one last true thing about him: if to score a goal he has to suffer a terrible injury, he won't hesitate. This is one big flaw. He never seems to get injured for some reason, however. At least not with the national team. For Oyardo he had played more than two hundred games, evidence of just how experienced he is. He has turned down clubs like Royal Rumiatzi, too. Why? We're not sure. After Astograth going all fascist and its league becoming amateur, he's gone back to Farfadillis (now fascist, funnily enough!). He's joined Mâ Âlâmëómë, a club he once defended for a season and single-handedly gave the league title to. Needless to say that Mâ Âlâmëómë are extremely scary for all other Farf teams now that he and Risko joined their ranks. He's now a seasoned veteran, and probably one of the most experienced national team captains out there.

Name: Alex Terán Loya
Age: 28
Team: FC Endeavour
Description: Where to start? Terán is an incredibly classy yet very passionate player. He sees football as just a game, though he does take it very seriously in times of need. Always a cheerful, cheeky player, he can and will do anything to opposing defenders. He's spectacular when it comes to chipping the ball from outside the box. He's always aware of the opposing goalkeeper's position and, if the goalkeeper is a few steps from the goal, he'll chip the ball. If he's not, he'll shoot powerfully to one of the posts. It has worked wonders for him playing for La Nueva Avenida, Farf club, getting the best player of the season award over many other very good players, such as Abuda, Einarsson, and even the Jansen twins. His endurance is stunning, his speed above-average, his dribbling very good and his playmaking eye-catching. He's one of Rossizzo's biggest successes, as nobody would've called him up when Rossizzo did. He ended up not only winning his starting position in the national team, but also being a vital part of the World Cup 66 squad that got to the round of sixteen, even scoring against the eventual champions, Eura. Though, well, that game was pretty much Risko Kâí versus Craig Sinclair. He's very good defensively, and is a player of box-to-box characteristics. He plays a slightly more attacking role than centre midfielder, but he still helps the defense considerably. However, Pekarik wants him to defend even more. What he's not yet aware of, as he's not met him yet, is that Terán is so absent-minded he won't even realize he's not following his instructions when inside the pitch. Terán will definitely be frustrating for Steffan, but the kid's got talent and nobody can deny it. He's recently been a key player for Endeavour as they won their second Apoxian League title. In that sense, he's Tenian's heir to the position of venerated-Farf-in-Apox. Tuzzio and Terán can easily assist Dandalleion, who is one of the easiest players to assist (maybe in the World), so watch out for that. It certainly doesn't help the opposing defense that both of them are very precise long-range shooters, something almost characteristic of most Farf attackers nowadays, apparently. He's now at his peak.

Name: Risko Kâí Tüzá
Age: 27
Team: Mâ Âlâmëómë
Description: Risko Kâí is an incredibly dangerous hybrid of a left midfielder and a left winger. If he gets the ball, he will probably go down the flank and create a dangerous opportunity. He can dribble one, two, three and whatever number of players is needed. He's got each and every trick possible down his sleeve, and can pull off any of them at any given moment. He's a player who does not care for aggressiveness against him, and will tend to provoke the opponent by just ignoring him, and starting to go for nutmegs and similar humiliating tricks. He is, most of the time, extremely infuriating to the player(s) who have to take care of him, unless they're seasoned veterans who have already enough experience to know better. He can grab any mediocre defender's honour and tear it apart. He can cut in and shoot from afar, but he's not as good at it as he's going down the flank. He's pretty good at passing, too, but it's not his biggest asset. As said, his biggest strength is his dribbling. His feinting, though a very well-known trick, might just leave quantum physicists saying "Yeah, we were right." because of how unpredictable it is. Not many players can properly take care of him, as he's proved in two consecutive World Cups, destroying defenses at the young age of nineteen in World Cup 66. However, as heavily attacking-minded as he may sound, he's still good defensively. He gives his all for the team, and knows how to strip players from the ball, though he's definitely average at it. He may be very cheeky inside the pitch, but he's not the kind of player who gets a red card for idiotic things, and he's not really that temperamental. He's not the kind of player who dives either; it has happened that when he gets fouled inside the box he continues with the ball attempting to score or assista teammate, which backfires sometimes and just secures a goal some other times. This is not something good for the team, but it does follow the spirit of the game. He's got one very bright future, though he's already reaching his peak, some argue. His starting appearances while just twenty for Urbizania Wanderers should show that, so should his award as second best young player of the Astograthian league, just after the Polarian future superstar Moses Luc Bjerregaard. Oh, and he's captained a Di Bradini squad to the title, too. He was the best player of that team, and most likely the whole tournament. Many argue he could one day become the best Farf footballer in history. He has got to beat Dandalleion, though. Also, he's one of the two reasons why any Farf team not names La Nueva Avenida or Avenida Principal will not be wanting to face Mâ Âlâmëómë this season. The other one is this team's captain, but we already made that clear. He's steadily started to take Dandalleion's position as the scariest player, and many would argue they're now equal. Risko's still got some more time to grow, but he's definitely nearing his peak.

Name: Ichi Marco Tuzzio Grecco
Age: 31
Team: Jungle Strike
Description: Ichi Tuzzio is a very classy player; he often chooses to chip the ball when going one-on-one, and most of the time gets it right. However, it's not how classy he is that makes him stand out, being one of the best players Farfadillis has to offer. It is his incredibly convenient skill set for a centre attacking midfielder (though Pekarik's playing him as a centre midfielder now, what a shame!). First of all, he's a very good playmaker, and has almost telepathic communication with Dandalleion (they now even share their domestic club!), with them being very good friends outside the pitch, too. However, his playmaking ability is somewhat of a bonus, as what stands out is his incredible agility and reflexes when dribbling, coupled with his impressive technique. Therefore, he's a great dribbler, and can make his way into the box and score quite easily. It is not his dribbling, as good as it may be, that makes him stand above most others, though. It is his clinical shots that do. No matter where he is, he can get a shot on target if given half a centimetre. When inside the box and given space, the likelihood of him not scoring is very slim. He often aims for the lower corners, and almost always gets it right. His long-range shots are very common, too, and he often threatens opponents with them. Having to take care of Mêndêlöíndçêl's long-range efforts is not that difficult. Taking care of Alex Terán at the same time isn't close to impossible. Taking care of Dandalleion too makes it difficult. Adding Mâás Fôx into the mix makes it even more difficult. However, adding Tuzzio into the mix too makes it require an impressive tactician and very skilled, absolutely focused midfielders. Now, obviously, he won't get all long-range efforts right, but they all tend to be powerful and precise. Very, very precise. He's pretty fast, but there is two downsides to him, the two closely related. His endurance is below-average and, probably as a consequence, he does not help out defensively. Pekarik's been striving to change that, however. Nonetheless, his sheer ability more than makes up for it. He's been a ghost of his former self inside the pitch for some time now. Yet... he sort of plays like he used to in important matches. That kind of works. He's now kinda old, but the spark's still there,

Name: Mâás Jân Fôx Düçélájé
Age: 25
Team: Directus
Description: Mâás Fôx is a nightmare to any defense that is not world class. He's not great defensively, but he will cause a headache to most defenders. He's got an impressive long-range precision and an impressive playmaking ability. He can run down the flank if he wishes, but he prefers to cut in. Being ambidextrous lets him do whatever he wants, and makes him a lot more dangerous. Whenever he decides to cut in, defenders will have to guess whether he'll attempt a sniper assist to either Dandalleion, Roga, Terán or Tuzzio or just shoot from afar, which he does really well, by the way. He's wonderful with free kicks, taking most free kicks, though sharing them with Tuzzio as well. Free kicks are the most common way in which he scores, amounting to something close to 20% of his goals. If you want to know something that may make you fear him despite his age, here it goes: he tied Farfadillis' transfer fee record (10 million) at the age of sixteen, when he was transferred to Directus, renowned Euran team. By the way, he's very fast, just as everyone in the team. Oh, and he's very precise when crossing. And he couldn't care less about pressure. He's not in a great physical state, however, and he probably won't be able to endure an entire match. He can be stripped from the ball by virtue of physical strength, but it's not recommended as he may play his way around it and provoke a foul. He's got a very bright future, as his performances for Directus have indicated. Fôx is now absolutely key to the team. At the age of twenty-five, he's getting close to his peak, but one can only wonder, can he really become much better?

Name: Basajaun Alexander Courtemanche Rivière
Age: 25
Team: Fryi Frêndê
Description: Courtemanche is one of the many Di Bradini Cup winners in this squad. As a result, it's no surprise he's a pretty good player. However, he's a defensive midfielder, and that means competing with Mêndêlöíndçêl for the starting spot. That also means Pekarik will be likely to use him as a substitute. But, yeah, in terms of forming a part of the starting eleven, he's screwed. However, he can play as a centre back if needed and can add the defensiveness Pekarik so desperately is trying to find. He's not very skilled with the ball, but he's great in other areas, mainly defensive ones such as tackling and game-reading. Let's just call him a poor man's Mêndêlöíndçêl, cause that's short and to the point. There isn't a better description.

Name: Ostadar Arambilet Olitzar
Age: 24
Team: Avenida Leal
Description: Ostadar is Astograthian. He's played for Astograth. He was Astograth's next big thing. But the nation became authoritarian, and Ostadar did not like that. He also did not like how the national team disbanded. So, well, as luck would have it, he'd play for his new home, Farfadillis. Son of Gaur Arambilet, Ostadar takes after him in terms of being able to score many goals, but he isn't a striker, he's a midfielder. He plays in the centre and is adept both offensively and defensively, something specially relieving for Pekarik. He's got the talent to read the game, and the talent to create goals out of thin air, a must-have for a Farf midfielder. His long-range shots are scarily accurrate, and he's got the kind of vigour needed to enter the box looking for a striker's goal and actually getting one. He's likely to cause more than one headache to opposing defenders should he get the nod from the Polarian manager. He's very professional, so he's unlikely to play any worse than he played for Astograth. He looks like the most likely replacement for Mêndêlöíndçêl.

Name: Rübéãn Tôr Rämír
Age: 21
Team: FC Endeavour
Description: Tôr is one talented player. He's got the spirit of a typical Rulandese midfielder; unquenchable and undesirably dedicated to the team (undesirably in terms of health). You'll see him going up and down the pitch all the time. He knows how to defend, but he's also a cheeky player. He will dribbled and attempt passes others would not, and he will get many of them right. He's a bit reckless, however, though it does mean you won't see him diving. Though he's right-footed, he's certainly not bad at all with his left foot, often shooting from afar with it when playing on the right. He can play on both left and right, and cause headaches to anyone who has to take care of him. Dí Maozöxê certainly did not disappoint anyone after producing Mâás Fôx. Rübéãn Tôr is the new talented midfielder from Ruland, and he's already a big deal. Nineteen and in the national team? Check. Signed by an important international club? Check. Scarily talented? Check. He's been developing into a very likely replacement for... uhmm... pretty much any offensive player in the team.

Name: Kühâx
Age: 27
Team: Mâ Âlâmëómë
Description: Another player getting to the squad thanks to some impressive performances in the Di Bradini Cup Farfadillis won. Unfortunately for Kühâx, though, he's got the toughest competition out of all the players from said squad. On one side, Risko Kâí, who captained him in the Di Bradini Cup he won. On the other, Mâás Fôx, who would've been preferred over him in the Di Bradini Cup had Rossizzo chosen to call up any capped players other than Risko. However, nobody can deny Kühâx is more than worthy of the spot in the bench. Playing for Mâ Âlâmëómë he's impressed many. He's got a lot of talent running down the flank, and his crossing is exquisite. However, unlike most Farves, he's not that good cutting in and going for a shot, or a pass. He's pretty tall, and as a result can score headers to make up for it. As a bonus, he's better defending than Risko and Mâás, which Pekarik definitely appreciates. He's still likely to enter in most matches anyway, as Fôx's endurance is far from admirable and after the eightieth minute or so a fresh Kühâx is way better than Fôx. Also, his name may have got you a bit confused. Thing is he was given the alias Kühâx when put on adoption, and once adopted his parents decided to leave him with just the alias and nothing else. At least he didn't have to live in Ruland!

Name: Matías Delafuente Obrero
Age: 23
Team: Viztourzys Kolektyvinis
Description: A fantastic playmaker, and a player with an enormous future. He became the first Farf to win a UICA competition, though he was followed by everyone from Dor Frío a season later. Oh, and he scored in the Globe Cup final he won! He may not be the best dribbler, and his long-range shots may indeed not be that much of a hazard for the opposition, but this youngster can see any holes a defense leaves to be abused. His passes are incisive and as a result wreak havoc, specially if he plays along players like Dandalleion. One of La Nueva Avenida's academy's greatest products. Too bad they let him leave so early. He's also arrived with perfect timing: just young enough to get the starter position over Tuzzio due to his aging and just old enough to win the Di Bradini Cup as a starter. Oh, yeah, he was incredible in that competition. Farf fans have high hopes for this guy, and he's even shown signs of being a good leader. He's extremely silent inside the pitch, though; he only speaks when absolutely needed. Oh, worth noting that he plays for a team with an extremely badass name, too. He's starting to make immense progress. It wouldn't be surprising to find him starting next World Cup, as Tuzzio's starting to age quickly and Delafuente's really experienced for his age.

Name: Sê Mêrí Mör
Age: 31
Team: FC Torshavn
Description: Mêrí is a strange case. He can play very good games just as he can play terrible games, though his skills have never been questioned. He was dropped from his starting position some AOCAF Cups ago following a poor performance the previous cycle. However, he has now had some apparently great seasons with Torshavn, guided by Fendergéson Numbá. Despite his team ending in a bad position Mêrí might be getting another chance soon. If he gets to play, watch our for his dribbling, speed and crossing. Oh, and his shooting. He may inadvertently cut in and bend the ball to the far post. He's employed by Pekarik mostly as a left or right midfielder, though. Well, at least that's the option the most likely to happen. He can play as a striker, and that's actually his natural position, but the competition is just too fierce for him.

Name: Cvijetin Santic Denisovic
Age: 27
Team: Montfort University
Description: Santic is a very rare type of player: one that is extremely loyal to his team, regardless of circumstances. He played for Prostran I Forzuda, a team that bounces between lower leagues and only left when the money his team was given was better than what he could ever give to the team with his performances. He's notable for his very good tackling and prediction of the ball's path, which gives him a natural talent for recovering the ball. However, his long-range efforts, while not particularly impressive, are good too, and his dribbling and passing are not to be overlooked. He is a very balanced midfielder, and is often considered the exception to a well-known rule: Karuvans are bad at football. For the sake of context, Karuvis is a Farf state that does not produce worthwhile football players very often, as you should've guessed. Pekarik has predictably been taking a liking to him, though there evidently are many better options for his position.

Name: Mirogod Chernyshov Balkaus
Age: 27
Team: Flying Jellyfish
Description: Chernyshov wreaked havoc last season playing for Flying Jellyfish. He scored many goals, and that earned him a spot on Pekarik's mind. He's Sunrisian-born, though in a Farf town. He originally played for Pezcemá Golden Magikarps, a Sunrisian team with Farf roots that has a special deal with Farf clubs. Flying Jellyfish noticed him before anyone else, following an extraordinary Di Bradini Cup (as a substitute, but he still managed to shine). Signed by them, he never disappointed. He's got some very, very tough competition, with two of the players competing with him having played alongside him in that Di Bradini Cup. And the other two are the starters, and national heros. It will be tough for Mirogod, but he's certainly talented, and very reliable.

Name: Itxaso Zuazubiskar Lauvé
Age: 25
Team: Avenida Leal
Description: The last foreign midfielder. There's Ostadar, there's Ichi, there's Mirogod and this is the last guy. We swear. Zuazubiskar is mostly Astograthian and, though we all know how that went down, his reasons for playing for Farfadillis have, surprisingly, nothing to do with authoritarianism. Farfadillis was the only team that ever paid attention to him, so he just chose to play for his mother's country. Not very complicated. He has recently officially set foot on Farfadillis, too! He's now playing for Avenida Leal, a team that came in begging for his talent after the Astograthian league KABOOM'D.

Forwards

Name: Nazeau Roga Quimartan
Age: 30
Team: Izotz Zubia
Description: Roga is a mystery. He does not excel at anything, but he's above-average in everything a striker needs. He's also an avid writer with a few books under his belt, one of which is a best-seller in Farfadillis. All of them were pretty grotesque in terms of plot, mind. He's now the striker (besides Dandalleion) who gets the most minutes, but competition is, as always, very fierce. Following Iturributa's annexation, he stayed in Astograth. Then Astograth went crazy and he left for Izotz Zubia, Audioslavian club. He has been a Champions' Cup runner-up. Now, the competition for being Dandalleion's partner may be very tough, but Roga has coninuously convinced, and Pekarik knows full well he's currently the best option. He's shown he's best used as a poacher. Along with Dandalleion, they form a partnership of Champions' Cup runners-up, but who says they can't win trophies soon? Oh, wait, they recently did. Mentioning the AOCAF Cup win another time can't hurt. Nevermind the final loss the following edition.

Name: Friekder Dandalleion Ígneo
Age: 32
Team: Jungle Strike
Description: Say hello to Friekder Dandalleion, the most famous Farf player around. He started his career playing for the swamp football national team. Ferdullaele gave him a chance for a trial as a result of his great performances in said national team. He was great. He eventually started playing for Ferdullaele, and then the national team, with a move to Turori following. The rest, as they say, is history. Dandalleion is the very definition of a versatile player, being able to play as either a right midfielder, a left midfielder, a centre attacking midfielder or any position up front. He can also play as a wingback if really, really needed. Being so versatile not only gives him more chances of starting for his team (though he does not need those extra chances), but it also gives him an ample skillset to pull off just about anything regardless of position. He knows each and every position down to every detail, and knows how to mix them, giving a lethal result. Rossizzo seemed to have found the perfect combination for this, making him play as a striker on the left. Pekarik will do the same. This allows him to cut in and shoot to the lower corners, something he does well thanks to playing as a centre attacking midfielder for Jungle Strike (not the part of cutting in, obviously). This also allows him to venture down the flank thanks to his times as a left midfielder, and it also allows him to act as any other striker thanks to his times as a striker. However, there's one thing that makes Dandalleion outstanding. When you mix his hybrid position with astonishing speed (he even got two gold medals last summer Olympics, and qualified to the two hundred metres final, though his inclusion in the Farf delegation was a bureaucratic mistake) and an exquisite control of the sphere, you get a striker that's very easy to assist. Sure, he can create chances for himself, but having Tuzzio and Terán assisting you makes everything a lot easier. Dandalleion also makes things easier for them. His dribbling and his finishing, which are unmatched when it comes to Farves, let him finish everything he starts. He's as complete as forwards come. The trick he likes to pull off the most is, as said, to cut in and shoot to the lower corners. The shots tend to be very fast and precise, which makes it all that harder for the goalkeeper. He's a very acrobatic player too, and he's not bad when heading, though he's the one who takes the corners most of the time, once scoring directly from one against Northern Sunrise Islands. His crossing is very good, but he does not tend to cross (except from corners, as mentioned) anyway. If he goes down the flank, he's very likely to attempt to enter the box and create a much more dangerous chance than just crossing the ball. He's known for appearing when most needed. He's one of Jungle Strike's most valuable players. Renowned as the best Farf player along with Mêndêlöíndçêl, but he's the one who gets the spotlight. Let's just quote "SPORT NOVARI Fans' Guide to the World Cup 67" to finish his description: "He'll terrorise any team he's playing against." This will probably be his last cycle at his peak.

Name: Çis Dragãozý Törètá
Age: 28
Team: Mâ Âlâmëómë
Description: Dragãozý is a very complete striker. He's shorter than the others, but he can score headers if given the space to. He single-handedly saved Sent 01 from relegation not very long ago, and is certainly an important part of Mâ Âlâmëómë. Çis is known for spreading inspiration to the entire team. At the age of twenty-six, he's a great leader. He's also very fast and completely tireless. He can dribble really well, too. He has shown time and time again that he can score goals single-handedly, an ability that certainly hasn't escaped Pekarik's eye. He is likely to get a good amount of playing time, even if it means using a third striker. His performances last season and the one before were impossible to ignore.

Name: José Torino Fuego Teixidó
Age: 23
Team: FC Axel Heiburg
Description: First things first: Yes, he's twenty-one. José Torino Fuego was a starter for the Di Bradini Cup-winning squad and was even the top goalscorer. He started playing at Flamagua and got them promoted to the FFL2. He even got them really far in the Series B Champions' Cup. Oh, and he got them promoted to the FFL after that. What followed that? He moved to Liria Prizren, where many held the belief he he would excel in due time. Sadly, Mytannion is a failed state now. He's without a doubt a complete striker, heralded as the next Dandalleion, and he's got just the right age for that. His brother, Lorenzo Fuego, is capped for Farfadillis and occasionally called up as well. Oh, his eldest brother is the captain of Tifón De La Costa, a club recently promoted to the FFL and promptly relegated from it, too. Inside the pitch, Fuego is notable for his unquenchable will (his surname means fire in Spanish!), his dribbling (which can even get a bit confusing), his ability to never let a hole in the opposing defense escape his attention, his exquisite passing to make use of the previous skill and, finally, his stunning precision with his feet and his head. Certainly one with an enormous future. He's just the right age, too. He's young, so he's under no pressure to get the starting spot, and the competition for the two starting spots is very, very fierce. Dandalleion takes one spot automatically, and then Tenian, Roga, Dragãozý, Cornelio and his brother battle for the other spot. Yet, he's much younger than them and so can just wait a bit. It's a shame we won't enjoy him and Dandalleion playing together in their prime, though. He recently moved to Axel Heiburg, where he's expected to soon enough become a key player. He's not very experienced, but if he does get a good amount of experience in the near future, nobody knows what he could achieve.

Name: Horacio Cornelio Ramos
Age: 28
Team: Avenida Leal
Description: The reason why Cornelio has been called up is mainly that he's been consistently impressive playing for Avenida Leal for some time now. He's a striker with a stunning speed and good finishing, but his dribbling is not very good. In all honesty, he shouldn't be getting much - if any - playing time, but who knows what goes through Pekarik's mind? He's had his minutes already, and he actually went to the last World Cup Farfadillis qualified to. He's never let anyone down so far, so that's going for him. He's nearing his maximum potential, as well.

Name: Lorenzo Fuego Teixidó
Age: 28
Team: Brentwood Charizards
Description: José Torino's capped brother. Lorenzo is not an exceptional player, but he's fortunate enough to combine all that a striker needs. He's extremely fast, good at passing, a clinical finisher and has got the skills needed to dribble. His endurance is not bad, but he's not the kind of player who gives his all for the team, so he does not put that to use a lot. He's not the best player putting up with pressure, but he can score when you least expect it. He's a weaker version of Dandalleion, and more of a one-trick pony. Nonetheless, he's a pretty good player. Many say his younger brother (José Torino Fuego) will get a lot further, though. They're very unlikely to be wrong.

Age: 33
Team: Bjarnarey Flotilla
Description: Tenian is a pretty versatile player. Originally a right midfielder, he signed for Apoxian club of the century Gwinevra Barbarians early in his career and became a legend there. He was probably one of the reasons, if not the reason why Gwinevra Barbarians became Apoxian club of the century. However, he did not become a legend playing as a right midfielder. Actually, they found out he could work better as a striker. It's difficult to tell why, however. He's not fast. He's not that tall. He's strong, yes, but that's not what makes a striker good. His finishing is pretty good, sure. He can score from crosses, too, thanks to the surprise factor involved, but that does not make him a great striker. He's not the greatest dribbler ever. He's a pretty good playmaker, but as a striker that's not so useful. The reason for him being a substitute (and not very long ago a starter) for Farfadillis and a legend for all Apoxians is, well, probably his sheer luck. It's either luck or an incredibly complex understanding of physics. He's that one guy that gets the lucky rebounds and gets the goal by kicking the ball a metre from the goal. Sounds easy, but, far from it, Tenian's job is pretty difficult. He basically relies on his prediction of the ball's path and his accuracy, because many chances are not as easy as they seem. He's the much-needed striker that, instead of pulling wonderful goals out of a hat, makes sure to 'clean up' by scoring from rebounds. Roga has beaten him recently, however, but he's shown he's in-form playing for his new club, the Bjarnarey Flotilla, in which he apparently kind of excelled.

Tactics

Forget everything you thought you knew about Farf football tactics. Pekarik is about to change everything. Or, actually, try to change everything. All Farf players are very heavily offensive-minded, to a point where it's very irrational. Most of the time regardless of the result, the Farf national team has been known to rather recklessly go for a goal. Pekarik knows better, however, and has started a slow transition towards a more defensive formation that better takes advantage of the talent the Farf players have. It's not been working as he expected, but it has indeed yielded some results.

The Euran Football Association’s World Cup 70 Qualifying Squad

Caretaker Manager: Louis Watson (Eura, 52 years old)

Watson has been on the coaching staff for what seems like forever, and for long time has played a key role in squad selection and maintaining discipline. He has been approached by top foreign clubs for vacant manager positions several times, yet he continued to act as Kelly Sporadic’s enforcer and motivator. Largely credited with Eura's fantastic new generation of youth talent in recent years, though he was apparently at odds with Kelly Sporadic as their first couple of tournament performances were very, very lacklustre. After the short lived tenure of Johannes Kallstrom following Sporadic’s departure (Kallstrom left the role by mutual consent following the Copa Rushmori in his native Polar Islandstates), Watson was somewhat surprisingly made caretaker manager, the second such manager in a row.

To put it bluntly, Watson has really been thrown in at the deep end. It was never supposed to be him, the reliable backroom man, taking this job. For the whole of the second half of the last domestic season, the rumours speculated after Kallstrom had left following a mixed Copa, where fantastic wins over Sameba and Eastfield Lodge were overshadowed by losing to Saintland and a heavy defeat against the hosts. The favourite for the job of course was Lee Sharp, on the back of his incredible first cup run with Audioslavia, but rumour has it that he did not want to immediately abandon those who had shown such faith in him – not yet anyway. Tom Benedict, the best club manager in Eura, turned down the offer, as did numerous other international managers and supposedly even former captain Steve Thompson. Eventually the poisoned chalice (or golden opportunity if you look at it another way) of this job was handed to Watson for the duration of qualifying at least. This team has the potential to be a world beating one, but Watson has to get the players to repeat their club form at international level to achieve that. It is expected that to begin with, Watson will be appropriating an unusually defensive style of play.

Notes: Even though Elahi hasnt scored many goals in the 11 matches he has played in, he has been responsible for the majority of them. He has assisted 6 of the 10 goals that the Payminian team has scored. He is also the oldest player in the squad.

Notes: Edana's inclusion in the squad was controversial. With him only playing 3 matches due to injuries but having scored 2 put the selectors in a tough spot. They soon decided that he would be in the team.

Notes: Leonidas was born in Fuerte Buenaventura. He is pure Guyablense and decided to give a trial and play in Paymina rather then San Jose Guayabyal. He has scored against Patistan which resulted for a 1-0 win for Paymina.

Midfield-Resh Zeman, 25 years old, 14 caps, 3 goals
Notes: During the trial matches and the international matches its was a fact that Resh could play anywhere in the midfield. With him scoring one goal against Pine Island in the Left wing and one goal against San Jose Guyabyal in the right wing, and assisting a goal in central midfield...it was decided that would be given a free position in the midfield, and with that also the captaincy of the team.

Striker-Qasi Wali, 21 Years old, 13 caps, 1 goal
Notes: Qasi was clearly the most aggressive player in the squad and was not in any way suitable for the defense. He proved to be very good in his dribbling skills and vision but his passing and accuracy was what was lacking. The selectors decided to take a risk and put him in the team.

Striker-Rashid Haffiz, 18 years old,9 caps
Notes: Many say that Rashid doesn't deserve a spot in the team and that he is a very solo player that can't shoot. Well Wali Hernandez thinks otherwise, he personally took the name of Rashid to be included in the squad as he can be very valuable to their BOF chances,

Notes: Shazaid by far is the most exciting player in the squad. He can easily bypass anyone with his tricks and plays with the goalkeeper a little before passing to someone or shooting himself. He is ranked as Payminas most colored player but can he prove it in the The Sarian?

After guiding the Terns to three World Cup finals in a row, Rasmussen has added to his managerial CV by retaining the Copa Rushmori title on home soil - a fact that reminded the more kneejerk reactionary fans just why they love him despite slumping to a second round defeat on penalties to eventual winners The Holy Empire at the last World Cup. Sure, you may scoff at the use of the word 'slumping', but for the high standards of former FC Axel Heiburg boss Morten Rasmussen, that was a result that he needs to improve upon this time around. He has been a revelation in his tenure so far - two of his fifteen defeats in charge of the Terns have been in the World Cup final - but with the hardcore of the team that lifted the World Cup trophy now retired or ageing, the time for revolution is upon us. The team that won the Copa Rushmori has been stripped of its most valuable parts, and in theory we should now be seeing the best of the best that the nation has to offer. Let's see if they can get back to that final match. Heia Terns!

Assistant Manager: Iulian Finnibaturinn, 42
With the departure of Steffan Pekarik, Rasmussen turned to Surtsey Island Gulls coach Finnibaturinn to fill the seat to the right of him in the dugout. Finnibaturinn played for the Terns a huge ninety-seven times, four times as captain, and scoring four goals in the process. He might have retired just before Rasmussen took charge of the Terns, but that doesn't mean he was ever unknown to his new boss, with Rasmussen trying to sign him several times whilst FC Axel Heiburg manager. Pekarik was a born winner, and a tough fighter, and it is thought that Rasmussen has brought in Finnibaturinn because he shares those exact attributes. Once thought of as down and out, he fought his way back into the Terns squad after having found himself at imploded league after imploded league, with a move back to Surtsey and a Champions' Cup medal at Urbizania Wanderers to show for his efforts. Never gave up as a player, and doesn't do so as a coach either. An inspired appointment from Rasmussen.

#1 - GK - Iulian Kirilaunen - Age 31 - FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls - 105 Caps, 1 Goal
Kirilaunen marked being handed the number one jersey at Surtsey by almost immediately producing some outstanding performances to help the Gulls exceed all expectations with back-to-back appearances in the Champions' Cup semi-finals. Being thirty-one years old means he is a goalkeeper at the peak of his abilities, and he represents his national team as the number one with all of the calmness and authority required. During the match he catches the eye with his consistently good positioning and the organisation of his back four, and he holds onto the number one jersey thanks to his lack of reliance on the defence in front of him. His speed off his line when acting as a sweeper-keeper will no doubt save the day on the occasions that see his team-mates getting caught flat-footed, and against Saintland in WC68 he even became the first ever goalkeeper to score for the Terns.

#2 - DR - Moses Luc Bjerregaard - Age 24 - FC Endeavour (APX) - 81 Caps, 28 Assists, 8 Goals
At just seventeen years of age, Bjerregaard was the youngest player to get a call-up to the Terns squad since Alexsandr van Sorensen, and it's not hard to see why. Still only on the verge of his twenty-fifth birthday, he is lightning fast, fearless, with a wicked control of a dead ball, and has a willingness to run at players that means Bjerregaard has all the credentials required to be a fine right winger. However, when you add a tough tackle, the ability to read the game, and a keen positional sense into the equation, it's easy to see why Bjerregaard can make such a devastating wing-back. Hence, he is perfect for Rasmussen's formation. His strength in the air can leave something to be desired, but he's still young, and with that youth comes further itchy feet that have resulted in his sudden transfer from SK Franz Josef City to FC Endeavour of Apox. Hopefully he's put his feet up for a bit after not being in the Copa Rushmori squad, and will come back rested and in better form than when he last played for the Terns.

#3 - DC - Aapo Nordenberg - Age 30 - Northbrook Diamonds FK - 91 Caps, 2 Assists, 7 Goals - Vice-Captain
Oyen-Spekke's retirement left a gap at centre-back that Rasmussen could have filled with any one of the many talented centre-backs that the nation is awash with at the moment. In the end, he opted for the player who was brought from FC Torshavn to East Franz Athletic to replace Oyen-Spekke there as well. Nordenberg had previously found it easy to slip under the radar and avoid the hype, though at East Franz his quietly impressive performances changed that, and he was sold to Ituraitz FC in order to balance the books; where he excelled. The implosion of the Astograthian league saw the Spires attempt to re-sign the player, but it was Northbrook's bid that tempted him more, and he joins his club captain Kohev Küngas-Vaga in the Terns back four now. Quiet, considered, and a scholar of the game, his game reading is excellent, meaning he is often able to make a challenge and prevent a dangerous situation before it even materialises. This lack of eye-catching last minute tackles contributes towards his relatively low-key profile, though they are of course also indicative of his ability to stop them being necessary in the first place. Tall, strong, and with a fine touch, Nordenberg is one of the ball-playing central defenders that are now becoming the vogue around the leagues. An instrumental part of both the World Cup winning squad and the squad that conceded only one goal as part of their Copa Rushmori defence, and at the peak of his abilities right now.

#4 - DC - Willem Otkupshchikov - Age 27 - Gwinevra Barbarians (APX) - 20 Caps, 1 Assist, 1 Goal
Otkupshchikov represents one of those rare success stories where a player can grow and mature way down the leagues with a lesser team before a bigger team notices him and takes a chance on him, only to see said player blossom on the bigger stage and totally steal the limelight. Otkupshchikov did just that at Bjarnarey after having spent the first four years of his career Divisjon-jumping with Waldenoya Bears, and he now finds himself pinched across to Apox to play for Gwinevra Barbarians under the direct tutelage of Terns legend Jorgen Hauge. Even better, Morten Salo being rested gave Otkupshchikov a chance in the starting line-up that he hasn't wasted, and hasn't given back. Tall, solid, and with an incredible work ethic, you won't see Otkupshchikov popping up in the opposition box much, but you will always be able to rely on him to be in the right place at the right time in his own box.

#5 - DL - Kohev Küngas-Vaga - Age 34 - Northbrook Diamonds FK - 212 Caps, 38 Assists, 21 Goals - CAPTAIN
This defender is well known and trusted by just about the entire nation, and after having taken the armband after the retirement of Alexsandr van Sorensen, Kohev will forever go down in history as the Terns' first World Cup winning skipper. As captain for club and country, he is a combative and battling left-back, though he is a talented centre back and defensive midfielder as well, and this enthusiasm and adaptability is something that Rasmussen has always been able to make good use of. After originally moving to the first team as a result of Edvar Folke's previous hamstring tear, his athleticism was called upon to offer support and attacks from down the left side, and he later ousted the SK defender from the starting XI entirely. One of the youngest players to ever move past a hundred caps for his country, he has moved past his second century and has made the big announcement that this World Cup will be his last for the Terns. So, this is one of the last chances for fans to see him in action, and he will be keen to make sure he goes one win better than van Sorensen did in his final cycle for the Terns.

#6 - DMC - Eikr Lillehammer - Age 31 - Cednia Beach AFC (TUR) - 98 Caps, 9 Assists, 6 Goals
Eikr Lillehammer was never even in contention for an u-21s berth in his youth, and indeed he was let go by the Northbrook Academy without much fanfare and picked up by AFK Hans Island Pioneers. Performances there lead SK Aasiaat Harbour to acquire his services, and by the end of his first year there he’d very much played his way into being one of the first names on the team sheet. With a battling mentality and a whole heap of confidence, Eikr is flying, and Rasmussen had an easy decision when it came to deciding who was going to replace Sudesval in the starting line-up. He played astonishingly well in the World Cup final, earning the Man of the Match award for his endeavours as well as the chance to make a move to Turori giants Cednia Beach AFC. Always one to rely on in the big games, Lillehammer put together a string of impressive performances as his club powered to the Globe Cup title a few seasons ago - let's hope he'll be bringing the same determination to the Terns this time around, and not just in the last few matches like last cycle.

#7 - MC - Bjorn Konigstein - Age 26 - SK Franz Josef City - 60 Caps, 14 Assists, 9 Goals
With all the money at SK's disposal and all the attraction of playing for the biggest club in the Federation, they can pretty much bring in whoever they want. How remarkable, therefore, that the diminutive Bjorn Konigstein has fought his way through the youth academy and has been commanding a place in the starting line-up for years now. Full of enthusiasm and energy, he's got a sort of magnetic presence on the pitch that just seems to draw the ball towards him, and he is adept at launching forwards and finishing attacks with a sweet strike from the edge of the area in his role as a classic box-to-box midfielder. As with many players, Rasmussen was impressed with his performances during a test run at a Copa, and as such he's now here to stay as part of the starting line-up. A real talent.

#8 - MC - Eidur Gunnlaugsson - Age 21 - FC Axel Heiburg - 8 Caps, 3 Assists, 1 Goal
It takes a special kind of talent to get called up into the starting line-up of the Terns aged just twenty, but that is just what Eidur Gunnlaugsson is. The famed Haapa-Mechelin Youth Academy of Axel Heiburg has had something of a dry spell in terms of output recently, but Gunnlaugsson's emergence turns that on its head. Already one of the first names on the team sheet for his club, a dearth of impressive performances from midfielders at the last World Cup led Rasmussen to consult his notes and find himself unable to come up with a reason why he shouldn't call up Gunnlaugsson. Gunnlaugsson hasn't looked back since. Quick, combative, and with a visionary eye for a pass, Gunnlaugsson could be one of the Multiverse's great deep lying playmakers if he continues to develop like this.

#9 - ST - Gustaf Kolehmainen - Age 32 - SK Franz Josef City - 120 Caps, 14 Assists, 77 Goals
With a vicious right boot and a desire to succeed, Gustaf Kolehmainen was perhaps the player upon whom Surtsey built their recent success, and is still the player that proves the difference for the Terns time and time again. How devastating for the Gulls therefore that a series of personal tragedies left him feeling like he could no longer stay in the city, leading him to make a move for SK Franz Josef City - of all teams. Has scored seventy-seven goals for the Terns in just a hundred-and-twenty matches so far, guaranteeing him a place at the table of all-time greats. This is only fitting for a player capable of utilising his broad range of talents to fit into whatever formation he is required to do so. He can lead the line, he can support it, he can poach, he can hit screamers, he's strong, he's fast, he's two footed, he's strong in the air; he's the perfect all round striker, and Surtsey's loss has been SK's gain. This could potentially be the last World Cup we see him leading the line in the number nine shirt, so make the most of it - he's a joy to watch, as he proved in the last Divisjon One season where he was quite clearly back to his best.

#10 - AMC - Alexis Zeljeznicar - Age 30 - East Franz Athletic - 80 Caps, 31 Assists, 18 Goals
After starting out for Astograthian side South Factory courtesy of their Polarian connections, Zeljeznicar was snapped up by the famous Ituraitz FC when South Factory were relegated. With the demise of Astograth's league he got lost a little in the national set-up, and when Luar Dardan switched allegiance to the Terns it was Zeljeznicar who found himself out of a spot. One absolutely dynamite season for East Franz and Villeneuve's continuing injury problems later however, and he found himself right back in the number ten shirt and he isn't giving it up. He is a former striker that has since retreated to a more supporting role; pacy, aggressive, a handful in the box for both sets of players, and wickedly talented. Despite having visibly calmed down recently, he appeared to struggle with the huge task of replacing van Sorensen in the number ten position, and Rasmussen made the decision to drop him to the bench before dropping him altogether. His confidence has returned with maturity however, and after taking the long way round this talented midfielder is ready to be a star for the Terns once again.

#11 - ST - Torsten Wolff - Age 29 - FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls - 79 Caps, 10 Assists, 36 Goals
Having made a good impression with the u-21s, Wolff had to wait patiently for his chance in the first team thanks to the strength of the Kolehmainen-Saarinen partnership, but since getting that chance he has appeared in nearly every game since. With new young strikers also in the frame to take the spot in the first team, you can be sure Wolff will be aiming to improve his goals/game ratio here after it slipped a little at the last World Cup. With an easy-going nature, his partnership with Frederiksen at the DBC had a distinct air of the odd-couple about it, but it nonetheless worked quite well, and his keen eye for the top corner of the goal from wherever he is in the box has made his excellent poaching skills a fan favourite. Having pipped Frederiksen in squad decisions time after time, he'll be looking to cause some damage here in order to prove his selection justified. Turmoil in Iturributa means he returned to Divisjon One with Surtsey, and yes; he's heard all the wolf jokes already.

#12 - GK - Leif Ulsletten - Age 27 - Red Star Severny - 18 Caps, 1 Assist
Originally making it into a Copa squad thanks to Alexis Sand carrying a minor niggle, Rasmussen once again used the Copa to turn to Red Star goalkeeper Ulsletten and give him a promotion. That time, it was into the number one jersey. Iulian Kirilaunen has, as expected, come back to be first choice for the World Cup, but Ulsletten has taken what he's learned whilst being an integral part of Red Star's surge up the league and has clearly learnt enough to become a fiercely talented international goalkeeper. Fast, nimble, and with excellent distribution - Kirilaunen's one big weakness - his long throws can often be the first line of attack for his sides, as proved by his assist.

#13 - GK - Alexis Sand - Age 32 - FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla - 13 Caps
Just as he was making his breakthrough at Red Star, Alexis Sand was whisked away by former Severny hero and then-manager of Iturributa United Petter Bielsen to make his name on the Goose Coast. With Red Star raising Ulsletten to fill the gap, the implosion of that league saw Bjarnarey leap at the chance t sign a player with international and Champions' Cup experience. With a decent stretch and a firm punch, he'll do well when defending set pieces in the box, and his reflexes are second to none. There have been some concerns raised over his tendency to stay on his line when a sweeper-keeper approach might be more appropriate, but he is an experienced goalkeeper, and has earned this recall.

#14 - AMC - Luar Dardan - Age 26 - SK Franz Josef City - 16 Caps, 7 Assists, 4 Goals [- 59 Caps, 21 Assists, 20 Goals for Astograth prior to defection]
It takes a special player to change the rules on who can play for the Terns. Previous rules had stipulated that only players without caps for other nations, and who qualify for citizenship, can play in the hallowed Terns jersey. See, Torsten Navarro and Yann-Erik Nilsson. The WCC however, appear to have slightly laxer rules on this sort of thing. See, Alexio Del Nieran. Despite this, the FPIFA have resisted any calls so far to match any policy such that would put them more in line with the WCC. This despite the current Polarian stewardship of the WCC. Nonetheless, when it transpired that the now stateless Luar Dardan would no longer have the chance to play at any World Cup or Copa Rushmori since the demise of Astograth, and that he qualified for the Terns and Polarian citizenship through residence, Morten Rasmussen successfully campaigned to have the FPIFA relax their rules slightly. They now ignore previous caps for other nations should mitigating circumstances prevent that nation from competing. As a result, the Terns welcomed formerly Astograthian ace Luar Dardan into their squad. He had a very slow start that attracted a lot of negative press, but he finished like a runaway train and the stats speak for themselves. Given the form of Zeljeznicar, we're set for a battle for that starting spot, here.

#15 - DL - Niels Kruse - Age 26 - Revolutionaries (EUR) - 11 Caps, 1 Assist, 1 Goal
Niels Kruse has been busily beavering away in Eura for the best part of his career, and as the Terns scouts and Rasmussen finally started making the trips to Revolutionaries to see Salo play, Kruse coincided by having the best season of his career so far. Busy, hard-working, and with superb fitness levels, Kruse has made the most of doubts over Vaaraniemi's match readiness to take the spot and by all accounts he is just itching to make his case to be KKV's long term replacement.

#16 - DR - Alexander Hesjedal - Age 33 - Northbrook Diamonds FK - 36 Caps, 2 Assists, 1 Goal
Not many players get recalled to the Terns squad aged thirty-three, especially not after spending so long away from international football. But then, not may players can claim to have had as good a couple of years as Alexander Hesjedal can. As one of the outstanding performers for the notoriously tight defence in Northbrook's two-time title-winning squad, Hesjedal's experience has come into its own recently, and it has gotten to a point that Rasmussen can simply no longer ignore the calls for him to recall the player into the Terns squad. It's been a while, but he'll be out to prove why this recall is deserved.

#17 - DMC - Anders Holzhauser - Age 26 - Northbrook Diamonds FK - 54 Caps, 7 Assists, 5 Goals
It took two consecutive Copa appearances for Holzhauser to provide performances good enough to convince Rasmussen, but he's been along in every Terns squad ever since. Holzhauser is a strong and tough-tackling defensive midfielder, and has made quite an impact on Rasmussen. With a commanding presence, he quickly grabs the eye as he marshals the defence behind him, and though he is able to fill in at centre back should he be required to, Holzhauser has the urge and the ability to push forwards in possession of the ball and add a different dimension to the attack in the process. All this international exposure was bound to create a big move for him eventually however, and he now turns out for Divisjon One champions Northbrook Diamonds FK, who splashed the cash necessary to get Issington to part with one of their prized assets. Fans already think him cheap at twice the price.

#18 - ST - Victor Larsen - Age 27 - Spartangrad (EUR) - 46 Caps, 9 Assists, 20 Goals
Huge, hulking, physically intimidating, and with a foot like a traction engine, Victor Larsen is notable for being - along with Yann-Erik Nilsson - the first black Polarian to ever be called up to the national team. Impressive with the Chicks at u-21s level, his pace and raw power can change the game in an instant, and he was doing just that with Red Star in Divisjon One. Spartangrad in Eura took interest in him as a result, and he now plays in the ever-strengthening Euran league. Described as a human battering ram, he provides something very different from the bench, and it will be interesting to see how Rasmussen uses him with the other strikers in the squad when it comes to deployment on the pitch.

#19 - MC - Mateusz Wolff - Age 22 - Urbanista (APX) - 3 Caps, 2 Assists, 1 Goal
Mateusz is the younger half-brother of striker Torsten, marking the first time brothers have represented the Terns since Niko and Mathias Marek in the first ever squads. A talented attacking midfielder, it is thought that Rasmussen sees his long term role as a more battling and combative box-to-box player, and the presence of other attacking midfielders in this squad certainly hints at that. It'd be a top-heavy squad otherwise. He has been one of a number of players who have been instrumental in Bjarnarey's recent good form, and this call-up has been nothing less than he deserves. Set pieces, assists, wicked passes and tricks and flair a-plenty, Wolff has long been described as breaking the mould of Valhallan football, and indeed to look at him on the pitch you'd never guess he was born here, grew up here, and has only just started playing abroad. He's an avid follower of foreign leagues though, and is a fiercely talented guy. Hopefully big things can happen when he plays at the same time as his brother does up front. And yes, he's also heard all the wolf jokes.

#20 - ST - Rauno Bickermann - Age 22 - Red Star Severny - 5 Caps, 1 Assist, 3 Goals
Kolehmainen isn't getting any younger it has to be said, so it is of little surprise to see young strikers given a chance. Rauno Bickermann's emergence in the Red Star starting eleven has coincided neatly with their run up the table, and this is no coincidence. Powerful, strong on the ball, tough to shake off and with a knack of finding the right channels to run into at the right time, Bickermann's touch-to-shot ratio is impressive to say the least. Scoring goals is the first, second, and last thing on his mind, but even so he finds the time to play the supportive target man if he's asked to, holding onto the ball and releasing a team-mate through on goal at just the right moment. An exciting talent just waiting to be moulded into a team player of the highest calibre.

#21 - MC - Jean-Eric Villeneuve - Age 33 - Northbrook Diamonds FK - 160 Caps, 85 Assists, 25 Goals
Moving back to Northbrook from Cap Nordique in Cotdelapoms, Villeneuve is a creative attacking midfielder in the same mould as Lepka and Demarchelier and, like the latter, he hails from the Rochefroides community of Ellismare. Fluent in five languages, he is incredibly intelligent as far as footballers go, and his range of passing and vision on the pitch is evidence of this. Not the fastest player to have ever hit the turf, he lets the football do all the hard work for him, which can lead to his apparent lack of effort being an easy target for disgruntled fans is results aren't going so well. Fortunately, with Jean-Eric in the side, this is rarely the case. His pace and agility has dropped off remarkably in the last few years due to an unfortunate series of injuries however, and despite being rested for the Copa he has not returned to the starting line-up as many expected. This could be a premature last appearance in a World Cup squad for Jean-Eric.

#22 - DC - Yann-Erik Nilsson - Age 26 - SK Franz Josef City - 21 Caps, 2 Assists, 1 Goal
One of the two young two-time Champions' Cup winners to have graduated from the SK youth academy, Nilsson brings a certain attacking joie de vivre into the back four, with him seemingly unable to lose the attacking influence on his game he gets from being half Acquan. Strong and difficult to dispossess, he will often try and play his way out of danger - and usually succeeds at that. He has matured slightly since we last saw him in a Terns shirt, and now acknowledges that the time isn't always right for bombing forwards and leaving a gap behind him, which will please Rasmussen's more conservative side. Having said that, it's always worked for him at SK, and he'll be an interesting player to give a game to if the Terns continue the attacking streak they started at the Copa.

With a calm head and a mature reading of the game, it's not hard to see why Strauss has broken into the Red Star first team already. An absolute mountain of a man, even by Valhallan standards, he is incredibly tough to beat in the air, and few are the players who can find a way to outpace him and his ten-yard-strides. Or that's how they feel, anyway. A leader of men, he has a natural charisma and fearlessness that inspires others to play better around him, and many in the stands at Red star are already calling for him to be given the armband by the management there. He's got a big future ahead of him, that's for sure.

TACTICS: "The Pythagorean" 2-3-3-2
The Polarian game is methodical, abrasive, technical, and physical. They won't give you a second on the ball to think, and they won't hold back in the tackle. In the centre of the park they will play a possession based midfield game of triangles, though a defence splitting pass could come at any moment towards the fast and direct attack. Rasmussen plays a narrow and heavily modified diamond formation dubbed the Pythagorean by the sporting press. It is reliant upon two key triangular sets of players that transcend the normal "rows" of player in conventional formation layouts. Nordenberg, Otkupshchikov, and Lillehammer will act as the defensive triangle, and Zeljeznicar, Kolehmainen, and Wolff will counter at the other end as the offensive triangle. Lillehammer and Zeljeznicar's roles in this scheme are absolutely crucial, as their job is to support and unlock the other two players in their respective triangles, providing outlets and creativity in abundance. Einarsson and Gunnlaugsson are part of a compact and creative midfield that will supply steel or style whenever the situation demands it, as well as partnering up with their respective full backs to form a kind of "bumper" that sweeps the flanks in attack or folds in to protect the penalty area in defence. Fitness of all players will therefore be key to the success of this plan; not just the constant positional changing demanded of Lillehammer and Zeljeznicar, but the athleticism of Bjerregaard and Küngas-Vaga in particular will also be tested to the limit as their roles require frequent attacking. It's not quite a 4-3-3, it's not quite a 4-1-2-1-2, and it's not quite a W-M... Alright, alright, it's more or less a W-M with a focus on two specific trios of players. It's the Pythagorean.
