U-21 WC 53: Audioslavia Falls Three Goals To Nil Against Felix
By: Steven Smith
Felix is now two and o as they head towards their bye week in the group stage of the U-21 World Cup Finals in Equestrian States. The convincing shutout win against Audioslavia makes Felix and Darvale the only two undefeated teams that have also yet to concede a goal. That is great not only for this tournament but for future tournaments as Bernat Picasso is really starting to grow as a goalkeeper and has been flawless for the last two matches. Not only that be he has been maintaining this type form since the Olympics. Maybe it is a sign of things to come for Dusseldorf F.C and the national team? Anyways it wasn't just Bernat that has been shining it has also been our striker, Nicolas Costa which has so far scored three goals. But before we ruin the whole match for you let's just recap what happened here, against Audioslavia.
The goals started quickly for us as Felix took the lead in just 11 minutes with a stunning header shot by Nicolas Costa after some attractive and playful passing play in the lead up. It would be another 25 minutes till another Felixian goal was made as another Nicolas Costa shot resulted in the ball hitting the back of the net, this time the goal was from a well placed right footed shot after receiving a great pass from AS Cadillac star, Valériane Babineaux. Audioslavia attempted to respond and had a great chance in the 40th minute with a wondrous Caszely shot hitting the post much to the distain of the Audioslavian fans traveling to the Equestrian States. The halftime score in this Group D match, 2-0, with Felix leading against the Bulls.
The second half we saw Audioslavia trying to come back in the game and did with 5 opportunities from the 47th minute till the 53rd as Bernat managed to block four of the shots as the 5th one was went over the head of goalkeeper and had it not been Ulrika Kistner amazing bicycle kick to kick it out of harms way we could've seen a change in momentum of the match. But it seems like that miss had to do with something in this match as minutes later Gösta Ahlberg scored a great goal after a deflection from the keeper failed to get Audioslavia out of danger's way following a Rudolf Venetianer. 3-0 was the score it seemed all over. And it was neither team seemed to care or try anymore and the game ended a 3-0 scoreline despite later Audioslavian efforts.
So the game ended like that as we head towards the break week what can we expect when we next play? Well let's strike one thing off the list and that is the fact we will still be first. Unless Quebec somehow scores five goals against Kernansquillec I seriously doubt we are in danger of losing that first place spot. Audioslavia will be looking to put some breath in their dismal campaign so far with a win against once promising Tumbra which has yet to adjust to much tougher opposition (compared to the qualifiers at least). So what will the table look like? Felix will still have 6 and the lead in Group D while Quebec will get second with a win against Kernansquillec and Audioslavia will look to right ship with a win against Tumbra. The week after our break we face off against Tumbra before our group stage finale against Quebec which is the nation of berth for our U-21 coach, Ho Weon Han.
In other groups expect the races to get tighter in groups A, C, E and G as some teams in the race face byes this week and must play a little bit of catch to secure the position they want. In groups B and F expect these groups to be similar to ours were a bye week won't decide the outcome of first place but will certainly affect the race for second place. That's it from us this week, I hope we can continue our brilliant form as we get back to the pitch two weeks from now. Also, good luck to all the teams, you'll need it in your tight races for group supremacy. Until next week! Ciao.
