UKZ SUFFERS FIRST LOSS

OSARIUS 3-2 UKZ

Goal Scorers: Satyajit Apte (17th minute), Soham Khadatre (73rd minute)

UKZ suffered it's first defeat at the hands of Osarius.

The team walked onto the field. Welcomed the noise of cheering fans and waving blurs of red, white and yellow. The national anthem of the teams played.
The match started and the UKZ was looking for a win.
The Osarius captain came dribbling with the ball in the 5th minute itself. The zach goalie, Aishwarya got into her stance, her palms turned sweaty a bead of sweat rolled down her cheek the ball came flying and she dived....... the ball her palm and bounced into the zach goal.
the UKZ was down by one goal. Aishwarya could not believe her luck she ripped the grass of the filed and punched the feild in frustration. The match goes on.
Till the 17th minuted the UKZ was trailing 1-0 and then it happened Satyajit Apte came like thunder and lighting all at once and shot the ball into the opposition goal. The stadium erupted in loud cheers.
The UKZ has equalised the score.
The match continued.
Abigail Baretto tripped while trying to tackle and tripped over breaking her leg. The game was paused as she was taken away on a strecher where she would receive medical treatment. We do hope that injury does not end her football career.
2 minuted before half time, came the second Osarian goal. the zach goalie this time was led away from the goal when she ran ahead to tackle an oppenent.
A few spectators were so angry at this cessation of the goal that they began to throw epmty plastic water bottles and coke cans at her.
The buzzer hooted and it was Half Time.

The players sat in the locker room and the goalie walked in. They shot her looks of hatered and she looked at them and said, "what did I do?"
then the rest was just shouts of anger and frustration. The coach walked in and all fell silent. He did not say anything, they understood him clearly. ("Shut your faces and play good football")

But that did not improve their perfomance. As soon as the match resumed Osarius scored it's third goal. Somehow the zach team maneged to restrict the Osarians and in the 73rd minute, Soham Khadatare scored a goal for the UKZ. Hope at a win was once again re established for the zachs. But the Osarians picked up their defence and soon the final hooter hooted and the UKZ faced it's first loss.

Later in a press conference, Captain Keith gave statement saying that "The UKZ team was not in full form today and we will have to just train harder for the next match against Monkeykind"

After Delay, Gregoryisgodistan Unveils New Uniforms

After a delay caused by various technical issues, the Gregoryisgodistan Foot Slaves have unveiled their new soccer uniforms, which they will begin wearing immediately. The kits were produced by Libertad Sportswear out of The Royal Barangay and were initially due to be unveiled before World Cup qualifying. However, due to internal issues at Libertad, the uniforms were not unveiled until now.

Image

In the photo above, you can see, from left to right, the home, away, and third kits. The home kit will be worn at home, the away kit on the road, and the third kit when the kit they are supposed to wear clashes with the opponent's kit, subject to World Cup regulations on uniforms.

The home kit is divided into two sections, black on top, red on bottom, with a gold number. The collar is two-toned, red and gold. There will be a small number on front and a bigger number on back, along with the player's ID sequence (if he is a commoner) or last name (if he is a government VIP.) These colors represent the colors of the Gregoryisgodistani flag and are a great way to win support from the home fans.

The away uniform features a gold main design with a purple prune juice bottle in the middle of the front, which contains the uniform number. This is in honor of the prune juice rations Lord Almighty Gregory lovingly provides Gregoryisgodistanis. There is also purple striping down the sides and a purple horizontal stripe in the middle, as well as purple marks on the shoulders. It is a very unusual uniform, only appropriate for a nation that is anything but ordinary.

The third uniform features a sunrise pattern (OOC: Gregoryisgodistani censored version of "tequilla sunrise", the nickname for the old Houston Astros uniform design) with various shades of orange and gold on the bottom two thirds of the front, and white on the top third. There is a black number on both sides. The number on the front is in the bottom right rather than the center. This uniform will only be worn when the uniform the team would ordinarily wear clashes with the opponent's uniform. It will likely see its debut on Matchday 7 as Gregoryisgodistan travels to west Angola, as Gregoryisgodistan's road yellow clashes with West Angola's yellow kits.

A spokesperson for the Gregoryisgodistani Soccer Federation said that the nation's youth teams would wear the same uniforms, as would the women's national team in the Olympics. This is a proud day for Gregoryisgodistan as we usher in a new era of soccer with new uniforms.

Ah it felt good to have the team on home soil again and I think it was good for them too. From seeing the game and the outcome we really do play well for our home fans. I know it can be tough on any team to travel but for some reason we have a lot of troubles when not with in the confines of Rhizome Arena. Coach Schmidt has told me in the past that they are working diligently on fixing that problem but don’t you think that by the third cycle we’ve been in we could at least manage better than a tie on the road? Sure we’ve won games on the road before, but the games that matter, the games we should win on the road we seem to go out and perform medorcre and come home with nothing more than one point. Sure a point is a point, but on those final match days and we need those points we could be kicking ourselves for not capitalizing and coming way with the three points instead. Okay rant on way situations is done, onto the task at hand and our match versus Jeckland.

I don’t think I can say enough for our supporters, they truly are loud, proud, and the best around. It seemed that they got to the Jeckland side and threw them off right from the start. Brew pots were banging and chants were going round n’ round the arena with no gap between them. The little fan base that was there for Jeckland could not be heard at all under all the noise from our home side supporters. The evidence that it disrupted the opposition was clear in the third minute as Schytaing drilled home a shot from just outside the box and slightly off center after a quick counter was produced from a long clearance from the Jeckland defense. It only took five quick short passes and cross to set up the goal, which was produced from an inward ground pass by Loostin. It was a great pass too, splitting two defenders and ending in the on-running path of Schytaing who struck it first touch, ripping the ball into the upper left ninety of the goal as the Jeckland keeper could only look on in disbelief. The Hops, in keeping with their last games start kept a bit of high presser going for the next seven minutes after the goal, however they were unable to score again in those next moments of high pressure but did produce tem more shots. They seemed to have easy access to the defensive third of Jeckland, who showed little focus and poor form in those first ten minutes of play. HopNation would score again before halftime, this time off of a corner kick that. The corner kick was awarded after an excellent save by the Jeckland keeper on a Droimpol shot that a lesser goalie would have surely let in. The corner kick was taken by Biaddan and headed in by an unguarded Lesamnal who joined the attack for the corner; he is after all one of the taller members of our squad and has been seen forward on a number of corner kicks for just that reason. Heading into halftime the score would remain 2-0 and Jeckland looked rather defeated after they had roughly 30% possession at that point. The Hops looked good coming off the last minute heroics in Evraim to pull out the road tie and they were definitely playing for a win today.

After the break the Hops once again went to the high pressure format and made no changes to the line-up. The high pressure play was not rewarded with a goal but saw five shots in the ten minute span. The team then dropped back a little bit and allowed, well rather Jeckland came to life and started to maintain some of the games possession and momentum. In the fifty eighth minute Jeckland would start to worry the home crowd when they scored off of a penalty kick was given after a supposed foul inside the box by Raefwar, who was also given a yellow card. The Jeckland forward made easy work of the PK and set the score to 2-1 and a life seemed to bloom in the Jeckland supporters section for a moment, but that moment was short lived as on the subsequent kick-off Droimpol tapped the ball to Schytaing who sent the ball long to the corner and a running Myer. Myer collected, beat a defender and was inside the box heading to the near post. As the goalie closed off the angle and a center back closed in Myer layed the ball across the six yard box and Schytaing easily tapped the ball into the goal and the Hops lead was two again.

Play would go back and fourth for the remainder of the second half as Jeckland seemed to be playing much better in the second half. The final goal of the game came from Droimpol after he passed the ball forward to Schytaing and he played right back to Droimpol. Droimpols goal hit off the left post, smacked the keeper in the back as he dove to save the initial shot and the ball bounced into the goal. At that point Jeckland looked completely defeted and for the final five minutes it was simply left to their defenders to clear the ball as far as possible and away from our HopNation attackers.

Recap of Events:
HopNation
Schytaing from Loostin 3’
Lesamnal from Biaddan 41’
Raefwar 58’ Yellow Card
Schytaing from Myer 59’
Droimpol from Schytaing 86’

Jeckland
Unknown 58’ (PK)

So there you have it Chaps, HopNation gets it’s first win of World Cup 69 Qualifying after starting the group stage with two draws. They now sit with five points and are in the fourth spot of the group standings. Next up is an away game versus a relatively unknown side from Jecatria.

Until next time Brew On! Brew Well Hoptonians!

Group 3 GD Pts
1 The Icemark +4 9
2 Vilita +1 6
3 Kinitaria +3 4
4 Novach +2 4
5 Gregoryisgodistan Special Administrative Zone −1 4
6 Boring Paradise −4 3
7 Vettrera 0 3
8 Melthing −5 1

Your eyes aren't deceiving you. That is the Icemark sitting proudly at the top of the group above the likes of current World Champions Vilita and the formidable Kinitria. Yes it is early days but for a tiny nation stuck in a frigid north we have to make the most of any pleasure we can get.
After making our greatest start ever to World Cup qualifying campaign the Icemark will go into their massive game with Vilita full of confidence, and eager to prove they can compete with the best footballing nation in the world.
The Icemark will go into the contest with a one hundred percent record; nine points, four goals scored and none conceded. It's largely thanks to the brilliant defensive displays that the team has produced in the early stages of the qualifying. After the opening days somewhat surprising victory against Boring Paradise, the Icemark put on a professional defensive display in their narrow success over Vettrera. The match was played in Bonticello Refugee Colony due to a recent terrorist attack in Vettrera. Only a few daring supporters made the trip, most heeding to government advice to avoid travel in areas of unrest. In a surreal atmosphere that could have easily been mistaken for a funeral parlour, Vettrera dominated possession without really threatening largely thanks to the wall that it the Icemark's back line.
Image
The tie turned decisively in the Icemark's favour when Vettrera had two men sent off in a six minute spell midway through the second half. The first was for a late challenge by Nasim Patel and was quickly followed by a red card for Pablo Martinez, who appeared to lash out at an Lokri Lindstorm seconds after being brought down himself. Kol Lindenshield guaranteed the Icemark's passage through to the final whistle with a crisp strike close to the final whistle.
The second of their double header saw the Icemark produce a comfortable victory against newcomers Melthing. Kol Lindenshield put the Icemark in front with a glorious 30-yard volley, before Finn Jorgenson finished them off when he volleyed wide from a tight angle. The Icemark's defensive display once more reigned supreme. They never allowed Melthing to have too much space, and when the opposition did gain possession closed them down quickly.
The Icemark's manager Erik Erikson is not getting carried with our early successes, going as far to claiming that we are probably in a false position. He might be right - after all the teams we have beaten so far make up all the bottom three places. The step up in class against Vilita is to be expected, and whilst no one is expecting the Icemark to take all three points in the tropics, it's a chance to prove that our small kingdom can give the big boys one heck of a contest nonetheless.

Sporting World

That was a Fluke
by: Rule Theriault

By now, I'm certain that everybody in the FFR has heard about our fluke loss in some God-forsaken corner of Esportiva. If you didn't watch it live, then you've certainly heard about it in the last few days. The people of that nation, whatever they call themselves, just can't stop spamming seemingly every web site based in the Indispensable Nation with comments gloating about their "great" victory. You'd have to be living under a rock not to know about this. This is even worse than that debacle in Legalese!

Still, we must not dwell on this disaster, probably the worst to strike our Great Federation since Charm Harbor. It was a fluke, plain and simple. That can be seen in the possession statistics produced by Sporting World. Our Republican National Team held the ball for nearly 70% of the match and took twice as many shots as the opposition. However, on 3 separate occasions, Koby Theodore, a young man who is a hero and true role model that every Republican boy can look up to, scored against their defense. However, each time, the referee raised his flag for offside. Koby wasn't offside (OOC: Actually, he was, on all 3 occasions.). Then, he completely ignored when both San Jose Guayabal goals were blatantly offside (OOC: Actually, judgment calls.). We were, undeniably, the better team on that pitch. We just didn't win because that crooked referee robbed us of our victory.

In a few days, we will be facing Czarch at the MilanesiDome. Trust me, we will be ready to face Czarch and they can expect to fall against the Best Team in the Multiverse. Not too long from now, we'll be seeing those uncivilized Esportivan commies at Olden Stadium and I'm sure they're going to get a warm Nejax welcome. If they think they have any chance of going into Nejax and escaping with their self confidence intact, they've got another thing coming. We are the better team, they know that we are the better team and we're going to prove conclusively that we are the better team. They can talk all they want about coming into Nejax and sneaking out, like a coward in the night, with more points at our expense. I promise you that no such thing will happen. Mark my words: They will be put in their place and they will be thoroughly and convincingly beaten the next time they have the misfortune of running into us. I guarantee it and when I make a guarantee, I always deliver upon it.

Rule Theriault is the manager for the FFR's National Soccer Team. Over the past few years, Theriault has taken a very young team and turned them into one of the best national teams in the multiverse. They were the runners-up in World Cup 68 in rather controversial fashion and now seek to finish their unfinished business.

Why can't the National Team win away from home?
by: Racz Oszlar

By now, you have undoubtedly heard about the National Soccer Team's most recent loss. San Jose Guayabal, an up-and-coming Esportivan nation, actually managed to pull off the unthinkable and beat the Republican National Team. While everybody else seemed to be in disbelief that such a minnow could manage to defeat the self-proclaimed Best Soccer Team in the Multiverse, I was not in disbelief. Actually, I kind of expected this to happen, a view that was not well-received in the Sporting World offices. Now that it has happened, Mr. Chuter has asked me to write an article about it for our web site, which might also be published in the next print edition of Sporting World. I'm grateful for the opportunity to write an article for a great publication like Sporting World.

As you are undoubtedly aware, the National Team has looked virtually invincible at home over the past few years. Yes, there was that loss to Nephara and yes, we did lose that semi-final at the Confederations Cup, but basically we've been dominant at home since that embarrassing loss to Vettrera 2 years ago. The entire multiverse may have been shocked when we up-ended Polar Islandstates last year, but they had no real cause to be. You just don't beat the Federation of Free Republics in the Federation of Free Republics.

However, in the meantime, we have been unable to win a match on the road. We simply have not won outside of the Free Republics, with our actual National Team, since that victory over Preiva nearly 2 years ago that put Felix out of contention for the World Cup. Over the past 2 years, the National Team has not won a match away from home. First, we somehow managed to lose to Vilita in the World Cup Final, a team that hadn't won a World Cup in 48 years! We even helped them set a record for longest gap between World Cup titles. Nobody had ever won a second World Cup title so long after their first title, until Vilita did at our expense.

Then, there is this most recent loss against San Jose Guayabal, after Rule Theriault blatantly took them lightly, as if they were some nation right out of the BoF rather than a nation that had qualified for the World Cup last year. I'll be the first to admit that their "draw" against the Republican National Team last year was a rather dubious one. Indeed, there is no way they obtain a draw in that match if it wasn't for that intentional own goal, a result of Rule Theriault's desire to play Felix rather than Valladares in the Round of 16. That "draw" is really nothing for them to celebrate because it was clear who had actually "won" that match. However, that match was far too competitive to simply dismiss San Jose Guayabal as some pushover.

I watched the match the other day and watched as the National Team repeatedly squandered goal scoring opportunities by making stupid mistakes. While Mr. Theriault may allege that the goals scored by SJG were offside goals, I disagree. If Theriault had actually taken them seriously, maybe his team wouldn't have made such careless defensive lapses. I played youth soccer and I can tell you that the errors made by the National Team were fundamental errors, ones that you usually don't even see among 5-year-olds. If Theriault had given even some thought to defending against the counter-attack, maybe the FFR would have won that match.

I dread the upcoming visit to the Sarian, given Theriault's lack of ability to take his opposition seriously and develop a competent plan to defeat them. If the coach doesn't take the opposition seriously, nobody on the team is going to. That's how you end up losing to a team that, while a respectable outfit, is still not remotely in the same class as one of the favorites to win World Cup 69 outright. Rule Theriault needs to refocus on coaching, rather than criticizing Esportivan socialism, if he wants to avoid an embarrassing trip to the Cup of Harmony, because that is exactly where he'll end up if he continues to overlook opponents.

Science or Fiction
Part 3

Z-Day +2

A lot more people had died over the night. There were no official numbers as emergency workers didn't have any access to the area. In a rough estimate, numbers were put at around 200 dead and 500 "active." There had been roughly 1,000 people in the area and 200 had evacuated the area, that meant there was still 100 civilians in the area. A combination of Police, SWAT, and National Guard has been deployed to the area, but there seemed to be too many attackers. Already, the public was referring to the attackers as Zombies. The governments official stance was that it was a severe stain of hydrophobia, nicknamed Hydro-X. However, the public didn't seemed convinced that that was was the case.

At 8:00 A.M. the city of Villitova was placed under a National Emergency and all residents were told to evacuate. There was still a major traffic jam on the way out. It took roughly two hours to just go 5 miles. Millions of people were descending into panic in the city. A lot of the residents ditched their cars on the side of the road and went out on foot. All this did was increase the chances of the virus spreading out of the city. There was simply not enough National Guard in the area to wrap around the entire city. Over the last 24 hours, 79,000 people had gone through the quarantine checkpoints. An estimated 200,000 had bypassed the checkpoints by going out on foot.

Stephan was still in the city, attempting to study the infected. However, the security there didn't let him go to any of the teams in the area to get a close look at the attackers. Stephan glanced down at the map that had been given to him. It showed where the infected were believed to be and where teams had been placed to attempt to control the area. In total 40 policemen, 65 SWAT, and 45 National Guard where in the area. That was a total professional force of of 150 in the area. They had been split up into teams and were stationed at choke points along the roads and streets. Already, the infected had overrun an entire city block and were moving onto the surrounding area. Delta teams was at risk of being surrouinded and were shooting freely into the crowd. Strangely, the infected were able to take upwards of 10 hits before being killed. Headshots were the most effective, it seemed. Echo teamed was stationed on a narrow street and where just beginning to fire upon the horde. Bravo team and stationed themselves behind a river, an excellent defending position. Foxtrot could hear the horde coming as they slowly walked down the street towards them. Charlie teams had not seen any infected yet and Alpha team, the largest group, was defending the entrance to the main roads that lead out of the city. If the infected broke through there, the infection would spread.

More news came in. Delta team was forced to retreat after they had reached melee fighting with the infected. Of the 30 there, only 14 came back. The situation was deemed to dangerous for the important figure there, including Stephan. They were evacuated by helicopter at 1:00 P.M. Stephan hoped that the other teams could hold off the infected. All the needed was time to try to find a cure for Hydro-X.

This is an RP of the Zombie thing that happened on Halloween, not at the present IC time.

Parts 1-7 here* | Part 8 | Part 9 | Part 10 | Part 11

After the families finished up with breakfast the two Greats set off for the village center to call another meeting. This time they were going to go over more of the details and the plan they wanted to set into motion. They knew that it was a good plan and that the villagers would most likely agree, but they still needed to go over the plan with them all and go to the other villages to explain everything to them as well.

Once they reached the village center Great Battle stuck the village signal gong with his axe and then they both sat to wait for everyone to arrive. Since the villagers knew a meeting was coming it didn’t take long for them all to get there. Great One-Arm Willy started by thanking all of them for coming and that they wouldn’t keep them from their daily lives and duties for to long. The Great Battle started to go over the plan. He first talked in great detail about the TimberHeart and the feeling they both had when near the object. He told of the emence power coming from the tree and how it pulsed outward, first starting deep within the stone and then moving up through the tree’s visible roots, trunk, and eventually through the leafs. Great One-Arm Willy added some details about their thoughts and being able to hear/feel each others inner dialog and being able to speak with each other without uttering a verbal word. Great Battle went into more detail of the pulsing power and how as it moved up through the tree you could see, the roots first almost seemingly grip the stone, then the bark rippled as the visible power moved up the trunk, and lastly how the branches and leaves waved as the power left the tree and radiated outward. He explained how the power wave could be felt entering their bodies and passing right through. Great One-Arm Willy went into the details of how it felt as the power wave passed through, over, and around them while they knelt watching the rhythmic patter. They both explained how there were nothing within this inner circle except the TimberHeart. No animals entered this area, no grass or moss grew on the soil around the stone, and the TimberOaks that surrounded it seemed to envelop it, protecting it from anything.

Next the two went onto explain that they felt the TimberHeart needed to be protected. They explained that they new of stories that anyone entering the Heart of the Grove would not come back, but since the two of them were able to come out there must be others that can enter or the stories are untrue. This was something they were going to bring up with the other elders and they would discus with them more options as to testing the stories validity and how exactly they would go about protecting, not only the TimberHeart but the Heart of the Grove as well. The asked the villagers about these stories in more detail along with how they felt or thought on the matters of protecting this area. All of the villagers believed the stories to be true and they too agreed with the Greats that the area had to be protected. The villages also asked the two greats if they already had an idea for protecting the area, which to that they both replied with a stern and convincing ‘Yes’.

That’s when Great Battle started to talk about their plan. He first told them about moving the village closer to the Heart of the Grove, as the village would act as an initial base for their protection efforts. But this would be temporary and that they wanted to build a village within the Heart of the Grove. Some villagers seemed dismayed by this news as they could only remember those stories about people not coming out of the grove. To their concerns Great One-Arm Willy stated that at first it would just be the two of them that would enter the Heart of the Grove and is why they would first move the village closer. This way they could be within the grove everyday and come home to the village each night. This settled some nerves for the moment and the villagers went back to listening to the plan. Next the two Greats talked about this internal village, the village that they ultimately wanted to build within the Heart of the Grove. It would be position within the trees, high up in the trees, and encompass the TimberHearts location. They did explain that this would be a plan which would take many years to see through and that it would take time to develop into reality. The villagers, even though some had concerns, felt that this plan was good and that it was very thought out as well as taking the villages and Timbermunich’s interests into consideration.

Finally they went over their immediate plan. They would be leaving the next day to travel to all of the villages throughout Timbermunich. They did not know how long it would take as they wanted to get every ones input, especially the other elders. After a short discussion of their departure and travel plans they left the village center and returned home to rest and get ready to leave the following day.

What will the other villages think of the two Greats plan? How long will it take them to go to each village? What will this new village they want to establish look like? Time will tell and hopefully we find out soon.

Darmen reduces travel regulations for Valladars, Westlands government concerned

EDMONTON (VAP) — Following the announcement to relax regulations for entry of Valladars into Darmen made by the Darmeni authorities in light of the upcoming World Cup qualifier between both sides to be held at Rogerton next week, the Westlands State government has now expressed its concern by the effects this move might cause in the already-strained relationship between both countries.

In the most recent State Parliament session, Westlands Governor-General Rick Courbis stated how concerning is that decision to Edmonton as "opening up the border in such a way will definitely lead the people to think they've now got carte blanche to head west and do whatever they please there". His Highness's representative in the Westlands state also added "there is a worrying growth in the levels of discrimination towards Darmeni immigrants all over the State, especially in the bordering regions and the cities of Northport and Hamilton. We must keep on our attempts to quell this disgusting behaviour but the proximity in both time and space of this match does nothing but to make it grow, as will grow the amount of Westlanders expected and now allowed to make the trip to Darmen".

"The Darmenis are now held accountable for the actions to be done to our citizens in their territory, as well as our citizens for the actions they do there. As much as I respect their good-willed attempt to bring citizens from both sides of the border closer, it's not a secret there's still a great level of animosity between both sides and that move might just exacerbate tensions even more", he stated in front of the State's 20 MPs whilst also requesting for an urgent discussion for stronger laws regarding labor inclusion and fight against discrimination, especially towards Darmenis in Valladar territory.

It is expected that roughly 30,000 Valladar citizens will make the trip west to Rogerton in order to support the Valladar national team in their match against their Darmeni counterpart, and the Westlands State government asked both the Self-Defense Forces and the National Police for extra security measures and checkings for citizens willing to cross the border at the Fenway checkpoint as well as the Northport dock.

Lions Scratch Out Away Point

Hayden Landers, Nova Anglican Football Today

After Lions manager Patrick Moran called his team's performance in the last qualifier against New Montreal States "disgraceful", he vowed that his team would play a much better match in their next qualifier, in Nexxus Drako. The Dracons and the Lions are nearly equal in rank (83rd and 85th respectively), so it was fitting that they played to a 1-1 draw at The Dragon's Den in Drako City in front of nearly 85,000 fans. But the Lions nearly came away without a point from this match.

The Dracons' starting lineup was very young, with six starters 21 or younger, and no player older than 26. The Lions tried to take advantage of their reckless style of play with their veteran experience, but struggled early on to keep up. Magen MkDenld and Daniel Macintosh, the wide midfielders in Nexxus Drako's 3-4-3 diamond formation, stretched the field and put a great amount of pressure on the wings. The centrebacks, Balderas and Jordan, had to drop back from their usual defensive midfield position into true centre defender positions to handle Hill and Browne, the outside forwards, so that the fullbacks could engage MkDenld and Macintosh. This compromised the Lions' ability to clog the middle of the pitch and build outwards, so they were starved of offensive chances for the first twenty minutes of the match and much of the game was spent in the Lions' end. The break for the Dracons came in the 19th minute, when Mark Browne outpaced Balderas and beat Julian Neal to the far post, with the ball just sneaking into the net. It was a 1-0 lead for Nexxus Drako and it looked like they had the Lions figured out.

After the first twenty minutes, Moran reformed the Lions into a more traditional 5-4-1, with Balderas, Carbone, and Jordan spread across the top of the 18-yard box, slightly staggered, and Kelly and Page maintaining their traditional fullback positions. While it essentially left it to midfielders Robinson and Castillo to stop attacks from coming down the middle, the wide nature of Nexxus Drako's formation meant that the middle of the pitch was not quite as important. Castillo sagged back as necessary to handle Petar Jonz, while Robinson was responsible for putting pressure on the holding midfielder Garri Oke. The Lions' tactical switch neutralized the Dracons' advantage, but they were unable to put much pressure on 19 year-old Jez Zmyve at keeper, and the half ended 1-0.

This state of affairs continued until late in the game. Moran gambled a little by bringing off Dallas Page for Bradley Lancaster, sacrificing some defense to let Lancaster bomb up and down the wing and challenge the Dracon defense. He also brought off Balderas for Brandt and sent Brandt forward most of the time, hoping he could catch a cross from the wing and turn it into an equalizer. This necessitated Castillo sinking into a true defensive midfielder position to maintain defensive integrity. The battle would be won or lost on the wings, and fortunately the Lions won it. In the 86th minute, Terrence Jordan deflected a shot from Robert Hill, and Lancaster seized the ball and barreled up the pitch. The counterattack was on as Brandt, Robinson, Pelletier and Fleming pushed forward to join Baptiste. Lancaster blew past MkDenld, drawing Willis Holmes out, passed it off to Pelletier in the attacking third, and broke for the box, where he received the ball back from Pelletier. He unleashed a shot from just inside the box, but Zmyve was able to get a glove on it, but not secure it. It bounced to Kyle Fleming, who tapped it in at the near post, narrowly avoiding Netali Heris, and the score was tied 1-1.

When the final whistle blew, the Lions walked off the pitch exhausted but grateful. They had snatched a draw where it looked like they would fall short despite keeping their opponents in check for the last sixty-five minutes. They sat at 1-1-1, tied for fourth in the group with Westfield House, who had been blown out 3-0 by New Montreal States. After a grueling first three games, the schedule would get a bit more forgiving. Next, the Lions will play their third road match in four qualifiers, but against 229th-ranked Azrea before coming back to Eboracum to take on 284th-ranked side Westfield House. It is imperative that the Lions pick up six points in these next two matches, because they will travel to top seed Jeruselem for their sixth match, a trip that will almost surely go unrewarded.

2-2 draw with Olastor evokes cries for faster tempo and quicker runs from Alexanderburnese fans
Frederiksen (10'), Jameson (68')

Olastor opened up scoring last night in a tied match against the Blue and White that left everyone shocked in disbelief at how this strong Alexanderburnese team could not produce a win and come up with three points against an opponent ranked far lower than they are. Fans throughout the nation are rioting in major cities such as Portsmouth, Baychester, and Suffolk - the city that will host West Angola tonight - and disruptions to tonight's match could be caused as a result. Police have been deployed in full force in the west coast city to attempt to bandage the current situation and prevent any further chaos, and while it looks like the majority of this fight is non-violent, officials have suggested that for tonight's match, the West Angolans stay behind as a precaution after the game to be privately escorted out due to Alexanderburnese tempers.

The greatest source of shame, however, came in the 8th minute when Diego Holierhoek, the team captain, was sent off with a red card after a foul at the edge of the penalty box that left an Olastorian player down. After reviewing the footage in the post-match show, both Alexanderburnese and Olastorian television hosts agree that the foul was not worthy of a card, yet the referee decided to adapt a "no nonsense" policy and issued the card anyway. Of course, this meant that everything about the game had changed at this point, and Olastor converted the penalty for the foul into a 1-0 advantage for themselves early on. Nevertheless, Alexanderburn came up with a big retaliation just two minutes later to equalize the match with a second goal from Frederiksen this tournament, until Olastor netted another goal in the 21st minute to lead 2-1 through half time. Mountain Lion fans sat nervously on the edges of their seats in anticipation of another goal, which of course was delivered by Jameson on the right wing just in time to save the game for Alexanderburn and yield a draw rather than a loss. As the match ended, Blue and White fans booed off van der Pol, who has far from delivered in this qualification tournament so far and is likely to not see another 90 minutes for quite a while due to the extreme criticism surrounding him from both the press and the fans.

ALEXANDERBURN @ OLASTOR

Holierhoek is to miss this upcoming match against West Angola, which will prove to be a very costly failure on the Blue and White squad. With the fans calling for more agile players, it is a wonder to see Mathiassen's projected lineup as unofficially leaked to the press earlier today. The ANFT can have no true belief at winning this match, not that the hopes in the camp were high prior to their captain's red card; this will have a strong impact on the team's morale not only for this game but for the next few to come. In fact, many experts are predicting that yesterday's match marks the demise of the Alexanderburnese team from this qualifying bid as the game and its struggles will be permanently etched into the minds of both fans and players alike. That's why it came to the surprise of many that Schroeder, the only other team member who has been captain recently, was taken out of the game in favor of Stroopijer, who will add agility and fast breaks to the midfield. Fiedler has taken on the role of Holierhoek instead of Collett due to his more pressing and attacking abilities compared to the latter's more defensive strategy as a DM. In addition, due to van der Pol's lack of scoring three games in a row, the younger and fitter Kidane will come on in place of the star forward, hopefully easing the jobs of Frederiksen and Jameson as midfield wings, as these two have taken it up themselves for the past few games to create and take advantage of all of the scoring opportunities. Rittenhouse will take the role of captain from his defensive post for this game, hopefully controlling the tempo of the game to his likings, with Nordaglio acting as vice-captain.

Extraordinary Acts of Courage
Ordinary acts of courage make the world a better place. Extraordinary acts of courage go above and beyond ordinary acts of courage in their capacity to do good. Yesterday, several extraordinary acts of courage took place. The Corvidae attempted murder yesterday. They attempted cold-blooded murder to repress those who did not believe what they believed. Extraordinary acts of courage on a Felixian plane stopped a Felixian agent from murdering Tamara Van der Ven, the former president of Felix. The acts were not pre-planned by any counter-agency or resistance movement. Ordinary citizens acted on their own, stood in the way of the Corvidae, and stopped their murderous plan. They risked the wrath of the Corvidae to save lives. For their extraordinary acts of courage, we thank them. This murder attempt is proof that life under the Corvidae is not what you have been led to believe. The Corvidae were behind this murder attempt to eliminate a dissident. They would have you think that this is the work of a rogue actor, but they are lying to you. They wish to conceal the truth that one of their own agents was the one who would have slashed Mrs. Van der Ven's throat. This agent can be irrefutably traced to the Felixian secret service, a pawn of the Corvidae an their evil deeds. To be blunt, the Corvidae are evil. Only extraordinary acts of courage can stop the Corvidae from their tyrannical agenda. Two days ago we encouraged you to act against the Corvidae. Not only did the citizens on the plane act today, but, also, Mrs. Van der Ven acted today. The members of the Free Felix resistance group also acted today. All of their actions involved extraordinary acts of courage.Free Felix members risked their lives to ensure the escape of prominent former politicians who were thrown out of office when the Corvidae came to power. They acted because they needed to act against the ruthless killing machine of the Corvidae-run government. If they had not acted, the former politicians would have lost their lives - a cruel end meted out by the Corvidae's lackeys. We thank the Free Felix movement, who act to bring about the downfall of a tyrannical regime, for their extraordinary acts of courage. We also thank Mrs. Van der Ven, and all the other politicians, for not giving up their beliefs when the going was tough. We thank Mrs. Van de Ven for establishing the Felix government-in-exile. This group will surely be a beacon of light and hope for the citizens of Felix. Mrs. Van der Ven knew she was risking her life to bring a voice to the Felixian people, a voice that would bring life and truth to the people of Felix. This government needs your support to overthrow the oppressive Corvidae menace. This government need you to take extraordinary acts of courage like they have done. Our world needs Felix as a free country. It will set an example for the world that governments like the Corvidae will not be tolerated. Mrs. Van der Ven is a candle - and thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle. She is a candle of truth. She is a candle of light. When a candle is lit, the room is full of its light. When another candle is lit, the light spreads. When Mrs. Van der Ven lit the candle of truth, of light, of action, she will also light thousands, millions, of other candles. The light and truth will spread throughout Felix. The truth cannot be hidden for long - and the truth will not be hidden for long. It takes extraordinary acts of kindness to do what is right - even if it is not popular. Mrs. Van der Ven should serve as an example of someone who is extraordinarily courageous. In our fight against the Corvidae, we should all look up to her. She is right in her quest to bring truth, light, and liberty to the people of Felix, for no man is good enough to govern another man without the other's consent. The Corvidae have governed Felix, and, indeed, the other lands in which they rule, without the people's consent. They have taken over by force. They have not gained the consent of the people - they have created the consent of the people. Created consent is no better than no consent whatsoever. But the people of Felix have not heard the truth about the Corvidae, for the Corvidae governments have sealed the truth in a cage, locked in tightly, and thrown away the key. Therefore we must embark on that long road to find the key and unlock the cage, but we must be wary. As a revered leader once said, "There are only two mistakes on the road to truth: not going all the way and not starting." The people of Felix have not started on that path, but Mrs. Van der Ven has started on that path. We at Anchor Press have started on that path, and we must walk all the way in order to find the truth about the Corvidae and spread the truth. It is commendable that Mrs. Van der Ven has embarked on her quest of extraordinary courage. She has conquered her fear of the Corvidae and all that the Corvidae represent. All of her associates who have risked their lives in displays of extraordinary courage have conquered their fears of the Corvidae. Courage requires that you conquer your fears - you must conquer your fear of the Corvidae to spread truth, to spread light. Extraordinary acts of courage will defeat the Corvidae. War is coming. It may be a long fight, and there will be many extraordinary acts of courage. Many will die, but they will be fighting for a noble cause. They will be fighting for you, your liberty, your freedom, your life. Help them in any way you can, but most of all, help them by performing extraordinary acts of courage. For light, for knowledge, for action!

The place is Kerroy’s-Den Aerodrome, the nearest airport to Council Groves.
The date is two days (plus or minus a few hours) before the Bear-Belles’ scheduled ‘away’ qualifier game against New North Aqmuland.
The event is the departure of the Bear-Belles and their staff, accompanying ‘News’ personnel, and some fans, for that match.

The group of journalists whom the Bear Necessities was sending to cover this game mostly just stood watching & waiting as the Belles boarded their chartered plane, but the young photographer Jamms ‘Jammy’ Urrsen* — who had been added temporarily to the paper’s staff after a what was apparently a side-effect of some kind of “cosmic crisis” had mysteriously relocated him from his Amberrican home to Bears Armed — moved around quite a bit to get shots from a number of different angles… grumbling under his breath, as he did so, about how the reddened skies that also seemed to be a side-effect of that ‘crisis’ made getting hrreally good shots rather harder than usual. Finally, after the last of the players and team staff had emplaned, the female journalist Florise Fane** who was in charge of their group (and an alternative-reality version of whom Jammy had sometimes worked with back home…) called him back over to join the others.

“Hokay, it’s nearly time for urrs to board,” she remarked to Jammy and their other colleagues. “They’ve just asked us to wait for a few moments while the Belles finish get settled into their seats, that’s all. Out main luggage was safely loaded earlier, that’s been confirmed: Does everybearry here have their carry-on bag hrready?”

Each of the other Bears (and one Badger) involved either said some variant of “Yes, I have” or bobbed their head from side-to-side in sign of agreement.

“Ayyuh, I have,” was Jammy’s comment, “but before we get onto the plane…”He reached one of the pockets on his jacket’s front and pulled out a watch on a chain*** “I’m going to try calling SuperBear, again, in case he’s in super-hearing range of my ultrasonic signal watch this time.”
He fiddled with a control on the back of the watch, then looked hopefully around. Suddenly he blinked, and pointed northwards to where an obvious disturbance in the air indicated the rapid approach of a relatively small object or being.

“Is it a bird?” He enquired, rhetorically.
“Is it a plane?
No: It’s SuperBear!”

NAMIBE CHRONICLE

WEST ANGOLA WINS FIRST HOME MATCH OVER KYTLER PENINSULAE

Image
Christian Davis celebrates after scoring in the 21st minute of last night’s match in Namibe. (PHOTO: Xavier Farrel)

NAMIBE- West Angola's second match in Warren Memorial Stadium was less exciting than the first, but the result was vastly better for the home team. Falling by a single goal to Saintland, and one scored in the 89th minute no less, had certainly made for eminently watchable back-and-forth football, but West Angola’s fans and players were much happier to be leading by two goals at the half despite excellent defense (and little else) from Kytler’s players. After the match, Phillip Garren said the team’s performance was “straight out of the top drawer, exactly what I’ve come to expect from this group.” Luke Parrish echoed his sentiments, “The execution was flawless—it had to be to get through that defensive formation at all, let alone three times—I’m proud of the work these players have put it that allowed them to perform so well today.”

Observing the success the U-21 team achieved in the Di Bradini Cup, where they made an incredible run to the semifinals, Kytler’s national team chose to emulate their younger counterparts and adopt a similarly defensive style. While the national team’s success has not quite equaled the U-21 team’s, they did manage a 1-nil road win over Alundas in their first match, and barely fell to Olastor at home by the same result. Against West Angola, an offensively-minded team with a propensity to fall to lower-ranked teams in their qualifying groups, both sides saw a very serious chance of an upset. Garren acknowledged as much earlier this week, saying “complete focus, and nothing less, is called for with this team. We’ve disappointed before in winnable matches, and The Kytler Peninsulae combines a very unique style with a lot of skill, and anyone who tells you they’re not dangerous is deluding themselves. Are we slated to win this match? Of course. Is it by any means a guarantee? No.”

The players clearly took Garren’s words to heart, as the first several minutes were void of the sloppiness that has heralded so many upsets in the past. Christian Davis spearheaded a vicious attack that went toe-to-toe with Kytler’s formidable defense, and after several attempts finally vivisected it in the eighth minute, with Davis penetrating along with Alan Harrison and Mary White. Scott Partridge displayed his skill, however, stopping Harrison’s shot with ease, and punching another shot from Anna Williams clear three minutes later. With two good chances come and gone, West Angola appeared to get a little discouraged and allowed Kytler’s young stable of forwards to make serious headway into West Angola’s on two occasions in the next ten minutes. Finally, the defense regained their composure, and Will Owens sent the ball clear, forcing Kytler back into their defensive crouch and releasing the attack once more. Davis nailed his third goal of the qualifying cycle, taking a cross from Harrison and heading it past Partridge’s desperate lunge to put West Angola up by a goal after twenty-one minutes.

Despite now trailing, Kytler neither broke down nor shifted strategies, remaining in their defensive 5-1-3-1 and holding off all West Angolan efforts for most of the first half. Like waves pounding a rocky cliff, the attack repeatedly built up steam as they approached the zone, only to be stopped cold by Arnfried Darby, Kenny Andrews, or another of Kytler’s defenders. Waves do eventually wear down even the most resilient of cliffs, however, and West Angola works far quicker than the ocean does. In the 42nd minute, Mary White jumped on a pass from Darby to Kendrick Muir-Wells and drove towards the goal, supported by Anna Williams and Alan Harrison. With two potential passing options available should they converge on White, Kytler was unable to attack White as strongly as they would have liked, leaving her with an open shot which she blasted past Partridge to put West Angola up 2-0, a score which held through to halftime.

Returning from the halftime break, Kytler was expected to shift their style in an attempt to close the gap somewhat. While the team did not dramatically alter their formation, the focus was clearly redirected, with the defensive mindset less on holding off West Angola and more toward creating space for their mids and attackers to move into the opposing zone. Having learned to be prepared for sudden shifts and switches from their small scare against West Carpathia, West Angola was ready for them and succeeded in containing Kytler’s attempts to penetrate the defense. West Angola would tack on one more goal later in the match, with Alan Harrison recording his second goal of qualifying, once again off a corner, in the 73rd minute to ice the match, and was treated to some good-natured jeering from the Namibe crowd. As a key player for Luanda West, one of Namibe United’s rivals in the Pierwszy Liga (although not as much as Luanda East, their partner), Harrison was no stranger to being mocked while in Warren Memorial Stadium, and acknowledged the crowd with a wave and a gesture to the Luanda West patch on his uniform.

West Angola took care of business for the final twenty minutes, taking away a 3-0 victory that improved their record to 2-0-1 and sent them vaulting into third place in the group, trailing Olastor (who drew Alexanderburn 2-2 for their first dropped points of the tournament) and Saintland (who managed a 1-0 victory at home against West Carpathia and remain undefeated), ahead of Gregoryisgodistan on goal differential. West Angola next travels to Alexanderburn, ranked #100 in the most recent KPB rankings. Alexanderburn currently sits fifth in Group Nineteen with four points, having beaten Alundas 1-0 at home, drawn Olastor 2-2 on the road, and fallen 1-0 to Gregoryisgodistan at home. A win could see West Angola rise to second place, depending on the result of the Aldunas/Olastor match, while a loss would likely drop them to fifth or lower.

Raiden: The Thunder

Chapter 8: Johnny

The deed had been done. Johnny had successfully managed to kill three out of the eighteen members of his team, just as Kira had asked. Cassidy, his Pisamiku partner, had managed to kill three of her fellow teammates as well. Everything was going great, the God would be pleased. Although he was an apprentice to Kira, Johnny managed to keep a normal routine and unsuspecting of those around him. He managed to still play well, despite Torisakia's two losses. Although, none of this mattered. What did matter was the fact that he was winning over all his formidable foes, not only killing his teammates, but killing his childhood enemies with the power of the notebook. At this rate, the New World would be achieved even faster, especially with Cassidy on his side.

Johnny did feel a little bad though. He was asked by Cassidy where he obtained the notebook from, and he responded with another appointer of Kira, named Aizawa, gave him its powers. This was, however, false. As it was Kira's official appointer, Mikami, who gave him the notebook. Mikami had been originally appointed as the Hand of Kira to aid him in his judgment through himself, without a notebook. However, Kira thought that this was unfair to the other Pisamiku's who were just as faithful to him as Mikami was. Therefore, Kira created a notebook, called a Death Note, that Pisamiku's could obtain through a series of events that allowed them to aide him in his quest for a New World.

The only way that Johnny could communicate with Mikami was through computer, since Mikami forbids meeting with other Pisamikus face-to-face. Every night, he would contact Mikami and get a list of names and faces of people that Kira wanted killed. Mikami didn't want his face or voice to be seen by other Pisamikus, so when speaking to them via computer, he always masked his voice using a voice changer and used a blurred image as an avatar. He always contacted Mikami at 10 o'clock at night, not one minute before and not one minute after. Mikami had a strict routine when it came to Kira, and messing it up would become deadly. It was very important that everything be done right, or risk getting caught for murder.

It was exactly 10 o'clock, and Johnny quickly opened up Zhkype and called Mikami. Mikami always let it ring three times before answering, as he instructed Pisamikus to do to confirm that they were the ones calling, as Mikami didn't keep contacts.

"Ah, hello. May I ask who's calling?" Mikami said, in a distorted voice.

"Johnny Kelso. Pisamiku of the Holy Church of Kira," Johnny replied, in a monotone.

"Yes, Johnny. The one I gave the Death Note to last week. I have a new list to give you,"

"Great, send it my way and I'll start the killings right away,"

"Yes, very well. Kira's been targeting some really important people lately,"

Mikami sent the list to Johnny and he sorted through it. The list was pretty long, at least fifty or so names on it. Most were people he didn't know, but a few popular names were thrown in. He kept looking through until he got to a certain name.

"Cassidy?" Johnny asked, he had a sense of worry in his voice.

"Yes. You see, she's planning on taking out another prospective Pisamiku in a few days. His name's Victor Rivera, I'm sure you know him," Mikami replied, not acting surprised by Johnny's concern.

"Yeah, I know him. I didn't know he was on the prospects list. So, should I kill her now?"

"No. Wait a few weeks before doing it. It'd be too suspicious if two players on the same team die one after another if in a short amount of time."

"Ah, okay. So this is the entire list?"

"Yes, and Kira's expecting you to kill every single person on it. We'll talk tomorrow."

The call ended and Johnny shut off his computer. He contemplated whether he should kill Cassidy. For one, he and her were both Pisamikus who were edging towards the same goal. So killing her would be like betraying her. But he had to complete the actions set forth to him by Kira, or else he'd be killed. It was a tough decision to make, especially given the circumstances. Unless, he tried something else. It would be risky, and could cost him, but it just might work. Johnny set his notebook on the floor beside his bed and went to bed. With a nice plan in mind, Johnny would sleep easily tonight. For what he had planned would please both him, Cassidy, and Kira...

To be continued...

Dull loss for Hornets

Joey McMahon
Taeshan secured a narrow win against Greater Watford, in the cold lands. However, the game was hardly a classic, and the Hornets are looking less likely to qualify for the WC or even the CoH, with another campaign of disappointment looking likely.

Coming up against stronger opposition, it was a slight surprise to see Hannon in goal again, but he was looking reasonably confident. Numbers 2-11 took up the other 10 positions, but from the kick-off the game looked dull, with neither side caring about creating space, but limiting it for the opposition.

In the 25th minute, a long free kick was sent in to Jeremi Krieder. He dragged out the defence, before heading towards Grant Fauejeau at the back post, who headed into the net, with Hannon unable to reach the ball. It was a good set piece by Taeshan, exposing a common weakness of the Hornets.

After that goal, the first half saw a few more opportunities for each side, but no clear cut chances. Mannetti and Peréz both seemed to struggle when they got the ball, with Taeshan closing them out.

In the second half, Lincoln and O’Gregory came on as the front line. Unfortunately for them, they couldn’t find any real space, as Harris was unable to create the opportunities in the midfield. Ragen and Revson pushed wider, to allow the defence to stay back, almost like a 5-3-2, but it didn’t help the Hornets.

After a 45 minute period of few opportunities, both sides were glad to end the game, with the supporters seeming annoyed by the poor display. Certainty, we’ve not seen top class international football so far in the qualifiers, and Greater Watford will want to change that against Fnaticka.

Ian Watts is one of the older players in the squad, but one of the surprise inclusions. Not in the WC67 squad and a sub at the WC68 squad, he has pushed out Hamish Doberman and Damien King to claim the #3 shirt. In defence, he is a strong player, at 6’3’’ and almost 14 stone. He isn’t pacey, but is focused on the more physical aspects of the game, like tackling, marking and heading.

Watts hails from Jarman Park, and is the eldest of 5 children. His brothers Danny and Michael have enjoyed some success in the lower leagues. Watts began playing for Jarman Park, in the old days of the Challenge League. When the old Challenge League folded, and the GWFA began a new League system, Hemel Hempstead FC took on Watts, as they fought to become a top side. They duly delivered, and Watts has 2 Super League titles, from Seasons 1 and 2.

Watts is married with 2 daughters. He still lives in his hometown of Jarman Park, making the short commute to Hemel Hempstead, unlike some of his teammates. Watts is hoping to enter a career in management or coaching after retirement, but for now wants to see out the remainder of his career.
Honours:
International FireStorm V Cup Winner with Watford FC

3 MORE WAYS TO DEAL WITH DEFEAT

6

HIT YOUR TV
Losing is never fun. It'll make you feel sad if you're a wimp or very angry if you're a 'man'. Well if you're more of an angry type of person why not pass on those anger management courses and just let that anger build up until that moment where your team loses. And when they do make the World pay for their poor performances (or at least your television). It may cost you a bit if you bash your telly every time you lose, but you'll feel a lot better. And don't forget, by breaking your TV you'll be contributing to your country's economic growth since for every TV that you buy and break you will need to by another TV, thus increasing sales, pumping more money into the economy and making the capitalist system go round and round (unless of course you live in a communist country or a country where money doesn't exist... It's even possible that in some cultures televisions are regarded as Gods and breaking one who be heresy... If that is the case for yourself, we apologize and recommend you use one of our other coping tactics).

But if don't follow some bizarre religion, remember that the next time you lose, just push the TV.

ONLY PLAY WEAKER TEAMS
Don't try and be all sporting and push yourself further and further; no please don't! Winning against some weakling is always much more fun that losing against the best team in the World! So to avoid the feeling of defeat make sure your team only play against (much) weaker sides. You're pretty much guaranteed to win, all the time :) If for some reason you don't actually have control over your team's fixtures, the alternative in to just skip the games where you stand a more than negligible chance of losing. It's really quite simple actually!

Remember, even if your team of professional footballers beat a bunch of 8 year olds 50-0 it's still a win. And that win will always be worth more than losing in a final to some brilliant team.

DRINK (AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE)
Got a problem? Alcohol will sort it  If your team lose drinking a lot will surely make those bad memories go away. We do recommend drinking with friends however as drinking alone is just sad and can even make the bad feeling that follows a defeat even worse! Furthermore, we'd also recommend drinking before and during the game itself: it helps prepare your body for that inevitable defeat so that when it does finally arrive you'll only have to drink a limited amount to achieve a state of defeat-ignorance. Drinking of course has side effects and it may even be illegal in your country. But it is a very practical solution ;) Still if you're a law abiding and self-respecting person, you may want to look at the others options.

So, if you hate seeing your team lose, drink those bad memories away!

Sandwichians Scrape Away With 4-3 Win; Blaise Not Amused With Overconfidence

PORT TRADAIL — The Sandwichians traveled to Dobbsland to face off against a bunch of Jims and Tims in what many argued would be another beat-down by the SFA. This mindset once again fueled the Royals to be confident...overconfident. Again. Many Sandwichians supporters knew where this was going, and indeed, it went there as Dobbsland scored once in the 9th minute, and in the 23rd minute to put the (once again) humbled Sandwichians down 2-0. At this point, many supporters took to social media to vent out their anger at the team for not showing enough effort Luckily, once again, the Sandwichians bothered to wake up, and scoring for the first time in this World Cup was LM Reggie Mateus in the 29th minute, as he was able to get down low into the box and sneak past the goalkeeper with a shot with his weak foot. The SFA seemed to be up and running now, as from there until the end of the first half, the Royals dominated in terms of possession, and near the end of the first half, ST Derry Wilbur was able to lift Sandwichian spirits once again, as he was able to tie the game at 2 all in extra time of the first half (45'+2). The 2nd half began with a substitution as Finnán Pavia was subbed out for Flamur Eason, which many saw as a way to get Eason some playing time, and some rest Pavia (who has played in every match since the 68th World Cup, including friendlies). However as the game was tied at 2, some fans (especially Dobbsland supporters) were highly angered and even insulted by the move. In the 52nd minute, a surprising thing happened, as Adam Sergeant was given a yellow card for taunting the opposition after a missed tackle. This lead to him being replaced with Edward Sauvage as, Tristan de Klerk played in the last game. This call by the ref seemed to anger not only the SFA, but the fans as well, and this was when the offense seemed to get going to their potential. At the 63rd minute, Derry Wilbur was able to get another goal with a bending shot from right outside of the box, as the Sandwichians gained a 3-2 lead. Things were going smoothly until the 79th minute for the Sandwich FA, as RM Brady Slezak, being 39 years old, had ran out of stamina (which according to team doctors after the match was due to dehydration and being overworked), and Dobbsland was able to take advantage of a weakened midfield and scored a goal to tie the game at 3 a piece. At this moment, Slezak was subbed out for Lachlan Varley to a dismayed Sandwichian crowd; as most Sandwichians were nervous about not only the idea of tying a weaker side, but of the possibility of Slezak being out of the next few matches. However, the game would end in a classing dramatic fashion, as it would be the substitute, 37 year old Flamur Eason who would be tripped from behind after breaking through the defense, resulting in the Dobbsland player being sent off in the 87 minute. Eason stepped up, and blasted a shot right past the keeper who guessed incorrectly, as he jumped to the left. Eason ran over to the rapidly cheering Sandwichian fans, did a backflip (not bad for a 37 year old), and saluted the crowd like Jaromir Jagr. The Sandwichians were estatic, while the Dobbsland supporters were not only dismayed, but livid at the SFA for the earlier substitution. What was seemed to be an idiotic subbing out of arguably the Royals most talented player was know seen as not only a way to give Pavia a rest and Eason some playing time, but a tactical decision to test the chemistry between Derry Wilbur and Flamur Eason in particular. The final whistle was blown, and the world had seen that even though they weren't starting, the Sandwich FA has a very talented bench. Whether or not this changes anything remains to be seen, but this shows the true talent of the Royals, and maybe instills even more fear into the heart of their opponents. Maybe Sandwich has the tactical advantage after all.

Other Notes

Manager Laurance Blaise has stated that he will no longer tolerate players who are overconfident or not trying hard enough. He was quoted as saying, "Each and everyone of these matches are very serious, and I will not allow players who think or act otherwise to ruin our chances".

Adam Sergeant will not be playing tonight according to manager Laurance Blaise due to his actions on the pitch.

Alexander Wolff will return for the next match after recovering from his concussion.

Brady Slezak will be out for 2 matches, with Tristan de Klerk starting in the next match, and Edward Sauvage playing in the match after that.

OOC: Got bored of my old RPs, doing something new. Two friends Evren and Jodocus Ditka watch the game from the stadium. Also, all Ditkan soccer players are prisoners seeking to server shorter sentences.

Jodocus: Why are we even watching this boring communist sport?

Evren: I don't know about you, but I find this game entertaining. After all, if The Great Ditka enjoys this sport, shouldn't we?

Jodocus: I don't care about The Great Ditka, and I don't care about this stupid game. The goalkeeper got a red card and now some Prince Bakhari guy is taking a penalty. Who the hell has a prince play soccer?

Evren: Actually--

Jodocus: Shut up Evren! I wish you would've never taken me to this dumb game. Do you honestly think anyone in Ditka cares about soccer? Can't football season start.

Evren: Yeah, I think we should just head home. It's 1-0 and there's only a minute left in injury time.

Jodocus: Finally, I knew we should've never came to watch this dumb game.

Evren: Wait, they still have one more chance to score from the corner.

Jodocus: I hope we don't score, otherwise people will actually care about this game if we tie.

*Crowd goes crazy after goal*

Evren: WOO! GOAL!

Jodocus: Dammit, right when I thought all this hype would die down. I wish Ditka would lose.

Evren: Don't say that, security may hear you and you might get thrown into the bear pit.

Jodocus: I can care less if Ditka himself hears me.

Evren: *gasp* You didn't say The Great Ditka. You can get in some serious trouble.

Jodocus: Please, like anyone heard me.

Evren: You're right, let's go home.

*The next day, Jodocus was arrested for making fun of The Great Ditka. Instead of getting thrown into the bear pit, he chose getting a shorter sentence by playing soccer for the international team.
"All must eat sausage; All hail the Great Ditka!"
Anyone who doesn't shall be thrown to the bear pit.

THE PARTY IN ALIKKI-CORRA
A LOOK BACK AS THE CHAMPS ARRIVED HOME FOLLOWING TRIUMPH

With thousands of Vilitan fans having traveled to Legalese via rail, Vilita Jungle Cats head coaches Calaesa Mitaroka & Nycflala Kater could see no reason the Jungle Cats should need to return home to Vilita by any other means. The Jungle Cats, World Cup medals around their necks, boarded the Vilitan Express in the late afternoon the day after the final. Destination: Sile. The gateway to Calania from Vilita, the Sile rail yard had been pumping out quadruple service to Legalese in the days leading up the final and it was a packed train.

While the Jungle Cats had a car of their own at the front of the train for the ride home, the players walked up and down the other railcars showing off their medals and mingling with fans for the duration of the journey.

There would be no big celebration in Sile, though there were plenty of photographs taken as the players got off the train, all in a boisterous mood despite Football Association of Vilita officials there willing the players to their transport back to the main island. Naturally, the players were needed back in Alikki-Corra for who-knows-what kind of festivities could possibly be planned to mark the triumphant return of the Tropics of Vilita to the pinnacle of the world of sport.

The next morning, as the Vilitan players woke up in their own beds for the first time in over a month, the realization of what they had accomplished would start to set in. They weren't getting up to go to training. They didn't have to worry about eating the right meal. All they had to do was get up, get dressed and head downtown. There was a party scheduled, and the entire nation was invited.

While it was a buoy of excitement when the players did arrive to the celebration, it also became clear that it wasn't just about the players who were on the squad in Legalese to the fans of the Vilita Jungle Cats. Littered throughout the crowd were numerous jerseys of times past and present. Names like (Viji-mara) Lawaai #17 and (Ritopa) Simafela #9, instrumental names in the rebuilding of the Vilitan National Team into a top 10 nation in the world, Simafela captaining the Jungle Cats to multiple unbeaten Qualification campaigns throughout the early 60's.

There were also names that pre-dated the modern crop of National Team heroes. Of course, the obligatory (Callum) Banda #16 flooded the streets but some others such as (Kris) Wrice #15 and (Tika) Massa #17 - names of players who never lifted the World Cup trophy as a member of the playing squad, who were still every much a part of the Jungle Cats World Cup 68 triumph.

Cementing the theme of one nation, one team was the new president of the Football Association of Vilita, and former National Team head coach Calaesa Mitaroka who invited all former players and teammates to the stage for a photograph with the scale World Cup trophy, before then saying a few words to the crowd.

Mitaroka announced that the celebrations would not conclude on this day in Alikki-Corra, nor would this be the last chance for Vilitans to see the World Cup in person. In fact, fans wouldn't even have to come to Alikki-Corra to join in on the celebrations, as the Vilitan National team would be heading out on a road trip visiting major metropolitan areas throughout Vilita in a celebration of national triumph and the achievement, for the second time in history, of the multiverses' most prestigious sporting honor.

''Initial Bifurcation''|''Game vs. Carialus

Image

Opinions are divided about the actual capacity of Red Blackiland,if the team can goes more further or this results is generated by the first participation of the team in a worldwide tournament.
The technical commitee shares the second opinion, including, explaining yourviewpoint in the interviews, differentiating what we need make for now and what we need make for the future.
In the today's Red Blackiland training,a few supports of the RB Ultras Group, were talking in the stands, disagreement with it.
'' We know that the beginning is hard, because the inexperience and we need patience but only willpower is unecessary, the players need play with proud and guts, show your face and make us , Red Blackilandians proud!Whereas we aren't a great team because we are quite new,go with willpower and guts, both of two can supple the fault of technical quality! This occured with various teams of worldwide football. ''
The Process of evolution of football in the country is inspirated in the German project, with fiscal responsability laws for the clubs, financial fair-plays,center of football players and football coaches formation, speending on the structure of the clubs, speending the build of the Redínxson Football National Center, where the national teams not only training, but in the future, have more of one field to form players of junior categories, and all this integrated in a system will compose the junior and profissional RB Teams with the clubs.
The first pass given was the build and reformulation of a few old stadiums and the construction of new stadiums, that ended in very new stadiums to the clubs and the RB football Structure, not only for the dispute of the second season of Patronaux Leagues but for future events in Red Blackiland.
The second pass will be mix the foreign football style of play with our way to play, bringing new tactical and technical experiences.
The project is long, what's left for us is gather results, analyze them and give prosecution with the process. '' Red Blackilandians, aren't impatients! ''

Image

Carialus, conservative nation with a big population, but them aren't necessary conversative in the football. The team play with much freedom with the midfielders, because the system have much midfielders to defend the defenders, the famous 'containment' zone in our country and give liberty to the offensive midfielders.
Inherited all the Chiata's Empire spyrit, are very good in defensive system like as Greece and fast in attack-midfield zone like Chile.Like 'populate' the midfield and because of this the RB team we need patience, ball possession and calm to 'touching' the ball.
The constant defensive errors not allowed in this game and lose the ball in the first marcation line can be fatal to the team.
RB will play on Capital Field,Carialus with 35.000 capacity team,is speculated 1,500 or 2,000 Red Blackilandians and RB Infamous Ultras in this game, will never give up of the team and will follow support where the team is.
We hope this game be a good game, and will win who team play better, and what team will be : The shining colours and sun of Carialus or the dark colours of Red Blackiland?

We'll see tonight.

Dissatisfied

Part 3

On his way back from training the next day Gary stopped off at the hardware store. There he bought some wood polish and some Brasso. The clock was all he had been able to think about during the entire session, its ornate hands and numbers, its smooth wood finish. He could not stop imagining how it would look if he was able to get it back to its former glory. He felt like it was his calling in life to restore this clock. How different might his life have turned out, had his parents not given up so much to get him into the football academy? Would he be doing something different, or was it inevitable that we all found our way to our logical profession. Like the drops of rain that fall on the hillside finding their way into the sea. Gary mulled this over for a while as he cycled back to his flat. He had never learned to drive, believing cars a construct of the ruling classes. He hoped above all else that it was not true and that life was what we made it; however the more he tried to reason with himself the more he thought there must be some predetermination. He wondered, if it were true then maybe in another life he worked with clocks. He certainly enjoyed owning the one he had found down near the canal-way, even if it were only for a day or so. Gary could imagine himself in a small store, a little like an antique shop, maybe he even owned it. There he would be surrounded by clocks of all shapes and sizes, ticking away with their individual satisfying tic-tock-tic.

The polishes bounced around in the wicker basket on front of his bicycle as he rounded the corner into the cobble street where he and Karen lived. He hoped that she would still be in Lammerton and not yet home, that way he would be able to work on the clock without irritating her. Although Karen's training was some distance further than Gary's she was often home quicker as she owned a small car. Gary's bike journey took him a full hour and ten minutes, even with his road bike, but he refused to take the bus or train. Karen nagged him constantly about learning to drive but the truth was he just didn't want to. The process of learning, sitting the test, and buying a car was not an appealing one. He would often accept a lift from her though. He was often glad of it. What did that mean? Did he enjoy being chauffeured around? No, probably more likely that it was easier: that was it. Also Karen would be driving anyway so his presence in the car or not would make no difference whatsoever.

As he rounded the corner into the stairwell of their flat he bumped hard into someone coming the other way.

'Oh goodness, sorry, are you okay?' He asked nursing the bump on his head.

'Oh hey! I was looking for you!' Came a voice, which sounded somewhat familiar. Opening his eyes Gary noticed it was the young girl from the boat. Why was she looking for him? The first though that sprung to his mind: The clock!

'What. Why. How did you find out where I live.' He answered trying to fumble the polish inside his jacket pockets. He didn't want the girl to find out what he was up to.

'I followed you the other day.' She answered lifting herself to her feet after the collision. 'I guess it's silly, but I just wanted to know what kind of place you had. I mean that clock was pretty old-looking. I just thought that... I guess I was just interested to meet you again.'

Oh f++k. She is a football fan, trying to hide it under some other pretence, the worst kind of fan, friendship though the back door. No not that. Then what. She was attracted to him? Surely not without knowing who he was. In her eyes, he was a young man with a long beard who left clocks by the canal. To Gary's mind it left only two options. She was crazy, or she was after the clock. His clock. Well there was no way that he was going to let that happen.

'Look here. You can't just turn up at my house un announced, nor can you follow me without my consent.' He bent down removing the cycle braces from his ankles letting his trouser legs free. 'I could contact the authorities you know?'

'And tell them, I knocked on your door?'

'And tell them you were following me.'

'I don't think its illegal to follow someone, unless you do something to the person.' The girl argued, confidently standing her ground.'But listen, if you are going to be an asshole about it then, then forget it.' With that she made off past him heading out of the building. The power of reverse psychology was an amazing thing and in this case it was no different. As soon as the girl had turned the abruptness tables on Gary, he was filled with a sense on intrigue, and he was not about to let the girl go.

'Wait!' He shouted, and the girl turned instantly spinning round in her long winter jacket and boots. She had obviously expected her departure to have some affect. 'Do you... I mean do you want to see the clock.' He couldn't believe he was doing this. 'Just while you are here.'

'I thought you would never ask.' replied the girl smiling broadly, following him up the stairs. If Karen came back from training now, it would be an utter disaster.

They spent some time looking at the clock, trying in vane to get it working. In the end after applying the polish and Brasso, they sat the clock in the middle of the kitchen floor to admire their efforts. With the face now glimmering it looked like an object from some stately manor house. The girl, who turned out to be called Abigail seemed absolutely fascinated with the clock, to the extent that Gary even wondered if she would have been a better inheritant than him. In the end he felt duty bound to offer her a cup of tea, which she gladly accepted. All the time he kept on eye closely on his watch, he knew he had a small window of time before Karen would return.

'So is that your home? On the boat?' Asked Gary. One of the questions he really wanted to know. The truth was that he was jealous, but of what. Surely not that Abigail's family were wealthy, he doubted that, and besides he could probably afford a houseboat. Especially if he took one of those offers from a club overseas. Maybe that's what he would do, find a club near a canal, live his days out on a barge travelling between games. Perhaps that was what he was jealous of really, the freedom. He had never moved out of the Latin area of Schottia.

'Yeah, it's my mum's boat.' Answered Abigail, taking a sip from one of Gary's good teacups, before placing it back on the saucer. 'It's only ever been me and her for as long as I can remember, my dad left us when I was three and my mum brought me up, she does a bit of cleaning work here and there.'

'Do you not have Government Job Scheme work?' Asked Gary, a little perplexed that someone in Schottia was casually employed. 'How old are you if I may ask? Are you not in school?'

'Well we are technically classified as travellers and it's not in our culture to work, so the government give us an allowance to live off. My mum is allowed to work up to sixteen hours a week and still keep the allowance.' Abigail paused and smiled again. 'How old do you think I am?'

'Well that has me in a bit of a quandary.' Answered Gary, putting his cup down on the table and checking his watch again. 'I would guess that, you don't look very old, but where did you get those?' He pointed at the tattoos on her arms.

'I'm seventeen.' Said Abigail. 'I left school last year, but I have had the tattoos for a bit, my ex boyfriend was a tattoo artist.' She rubbed a hand over one of her arms looking at the artwork as if to remind herself that it was there. 'I spend most of my time practicing with my band these days though; I'm a bass player. What is it you do? You’ve got a nice place.' Gary paused for a moment wondering how to answer. He really didn't want to have to tell her about the whole footballing thing.

'Stuff to do with sport,' he answered. 'But to be honest, I'm more into my writing and painting.'

Abigail insisted on seeing examples of his writing and he brought the laptop through to warm up. It was then however, as she was studying one of his model ships that his phone buzzed into life informing him that Karen was on her way home.

'Listen, I know this is rude.' He started, looking up from his phone.

'No worries.' Answered Abigail at once getting the hint. 'But can we meet again? Maybe you can stop by the boat and I'll give you a tour.'

'I would like that.' Replied Gary who had always wanted to have a look inside one. 'I will bring the laptop with me.'

Southie Sunrise: Given how he is, Hodori probably booted him out already!
Sunrise: Would you shut it? I got a nice start there, yes.
East Sunrise: Well, that's pretty cool, dad... does anyone we know work there?
Sunrise: That you ever met, no, not really.
East Sunrise: Ah, pretty cool indeed, dad!
Southie Sunrise: Toady.
East Sunrise: Psh, just because you hate him, doesn't mean I have to hate him too.
Sunrise: ...Excuse me, I'm here.
Southie Sunrise: I still don't trust you!
East Sunrise: You should just give him a chance. I mean, didn't he took a beating to have us where we are?
Southie Sunrise: Nope, that was Kaza and Guayabal.
East Sunrise: Wore a maid's dress to work as a spy?
Southie Sunrise: That was Sarian and he wasn't working as a spy. Hell, he even liked the bloody thing.

The screen cuts to a separate scene at a confession room-like area.

Sarian: It does combine with my hair, doesn't it?

The screen then returns to Sunrise's house.

East Sunrise: Landed on top of mother to stop the fight?
Southie Sunrise: Yes. And that was stupid.
Sunrise: Southie, I understand I was absent for a while, but you can't stay with that mindset or else our relationship as father and daughter will never improve!
Southie Sunrise: You know what? Fine, if you stick to your job for two weeks, I'll think slightly higher of you, dad.
East Sunrise: Slightly?
Southie Sunrise: Yeah. It's not like he'll save the world by selling cars.
Sunrise: It's progress.

Sunrise suddenly feels a hug to his right leg, finding Westie, on her school uniform, happy, hugging him.

Westie Sunrise: Papa, we got huge news! ^3^
Mikoto: Indeed, Westie. Do you know who's going to be your co-worker?
Sunrise: They already hired a replacement to Sindy after the incident?
Mikoto: What incident?

The scene cuts to Sindy being taken away to a mental institution, GAS with an arm bandaged and Sunrise watch the ambulance going away.

Sunrise: Well, that was weird.
GAS: Yeah... Did you catch what she said?
Sunrise: "Death to all non-Corndogs." I think that's what she said.
GAS: Well, remind me of never going to your work ever again.

Sunrise looks behind him, seeing the scene with a couple of shooting victims that were being taken care of.

Sunrise: ...Deal.

The scene returns to Sunrise's house.

Sunrise: So, who did they get in?
Mikoto: Me! I figured out it'd be better if I kept an eye on you there.
Sunrise: Well, that's lovely. Hahah. It will be fun to work with you, dear.
Mikoto: Westie, time to go take a shower!
Westie Sunrise: Yes, mama... T_T

Westie walked sad to the bathroom, followed by her mother. Dainer looked over the couch, sighing

Dainer: You sure you want to work with your wife, man?
Sunrise: Eh, what could go wrong?
Dainer: Well, I dunno. You guys spent enough time together to have some stories. Some shameful stories.
Sunrise: ...Oh, goddamn it.
Tails... Watch out, you're gonna crash, aaaaah!

Fairly Good Game, Bad Aftertaste
Nassau To Face The Next Top Team

Nassau 0-2 Bloumany

It seems that the Hessen are one step behind the Ice Birds, but that can change sure enough. The Eagles strode into the pitch with their heads held high (even though they were pretty much screwed against the pentacolored Eagles). The Arima Pavilion was jam packed, and both teams were looking to keep their shutout streak alive. Nassau Goaltender Falco Brambler trained extensively for this specific match, hoping for the unlikely. The time came to finally line up for the anthems, this event was very meaningful for both of the Eagles, as they felt pride from their red hot starts. Shortly afterwards, the teams went to their respective sides, lined up, and the game commenced with a kick-off to Kane Harrison.

The Bloumans hit the ground running, and put the Hessians in immediate pressure. Up to that point, the Eagles had not experienced such an offensive volley. The onslaught from the three Blouman forwards was unbearable for all of the team except for one. Falco Brambler stood tall when he took shots from each one of them, adding on to a shameful grand total of four shots in the initial ten minutes, a terrible occurrence that will be put on the Nassuite defensemen's resume. It is truly unfortunate that beings can run out of energy with no support from teammates. So was the case of Falco Brambler, who was sweating streams. #63 Odovach Faircotton (who replaced Polydamas Brandybuck, who suffered a temporary strained ankle) blocked what would've been a shot by Blaine Cooperson, forcing an inconvenient corner kick in favor of Bloumany. The mostly underperforming Nassauite defense left potent attacker Kane Harrison unchecked on the corner, giving him an easy redirect header goal at the 12th minute. This goal caused Brambler to get his head back in the game after all of the tiresome saves he made. After scolding himself for losing the shutout and the rest of the team for lacking good defense, he became more determined to play better than ever before in order to quench his anger. The defenders ears did not serve their purpose, and it took another Pentacolor goal in the very next minute in order for them to get the message, stop screwing around. Furiously, despite understandably losing to a far superior team, the Hessen tried to claw their way back by rejecting every single opposing they faced and converting on their own scarce chances. Falco, at a loss for words from his crushed streak, managed to hide his disappointment by focusing on the remaining shots he had (all of which were saved). Blanco Chubbs had a couple of chances the other way, but to no avail. The Hessen found themselves in a foreign situation they had not been in since the Beltane Cup, they were losing and stared at desperation once more. The angry, losing Eagles left the field at half time with a potentially unsolvable deficit.

A half-time talk from the coaching staff seemed to quell the frustration of the Blue & Golden Eagles a slight amount, but just enough to get back to business. Once the kick-off was completed, the chase was on. The Eagles at home started making chances out of thin air, the team started to come together, and it seemed as if they were sure to put an end to the Bloumans scoreless streak. Many deep crosses, a few corners, and a handful of close shots by people like Zarambaga, Loamsdown, and Marma-Madoc (who replaced a tired Tworidge shortly after the beginning of the second half) forced the visiting Eagles to switch to a more defensive strategy. As it turned out, Nassau was doing fairly well, reversing the original prediction of minimal chances onto Bloumany in the second half (all of them yet again saved by Brambler). All good things must come to an end, however. The Eagles were yet again creating another chance and were about to put themselves in striking distance until a word nobody except for goaltenders want to hear was spoken....offsides. Even though it didn't mean the end, it certainly struck the hearts of the squad. Soon after, an incredulously lucky penalty shot was called for the Hessen. It was only to be sadly wasted on a rather badly kicked play by Central Forward Orgulas Sandybanks. Despite all of this, two people kept their heads held high, they were Co-Captain Blanco Chubbs and Midfielder Mungo Loamsdown. They produced a late cross opportunity that went in by the head of Blanco, but only to hear that dreaded word again...offsides. The crowd at Arima and Chubbs were both shocked and disappointed in what was the first bad call on Nassau's side the entire qualifying round. Blanco Chubbs was unfairly yellow carded from his understandably angry behavior. The match ended quickly, and all the frustrated Nassauites could do was shake it off and prepare for the Barangay.

Despite the loss, Nassau still remains in a solid third place in hopes that they will not slide any longer. It will not be easy, as they are still not in the clear. They must finish playing the favorites back-to-back by facing the Royal Barangay at their home. Torisakia seems to be one step ahead of the Eagles as they seemed to have handled Bloumany a bit better than the Hessen. Red Blackiland is facing a case of the blues after their third consecutive loss, the most recent to the beatable Highlanders. Both the Dark Lions and the New Saints find themselves at the cellar in the standings. It will be interesting to see how they will react to their setbacks. The Comrades are doing fairly well for their expectations, the paths of them and the Eagles will cross soon, but not now. Nassau is going to have to return to their defensive ways ASAP if they want to survive in this group.

Dear [Redacted],

You must know that I wasn’t thrilled with the content of your previous letter. I will not go ahead and be the conduit for communication between you and [Redacted]. You know you have my blessing in that regard, and there is nothing I want more than to see you, and her, happy again. But after whats happened, that is not something I can help. I don’t feel comfortable at all letting you know anything about what she’s doing or how she’s feeling, from my perspective I’m just trying to maintain my relationships without burning any bridges, without letting myself grow old with this deep regret hanging over me. I would do nothing to betray her trust, as much as I’d like you to be successful.

I’ve struggled to come up with adequate words to describe how I feel in this regard, but I hope you understand. And I hope this doesn’t present a barrier moving forward. There is a lot of trust that’s been breached, and making that kind of request doesn’t really help me be able to overcome it.

Anyway, I am happy to hear that you remember [Redacted] Bar and think of it well. I haven’t been back since the Terre des Gaulles match, but I’ll see if I can make it back there sometime soon. You’ll be interested to know that Terre des Gaulles went on to beat Nephara (you know, the nation that used to be called New Sideburn), the following match, while we absolutely worked through Arkiasis three-nil. It was a splendid game to watch, as Coach Miura’s strategy seemed to pay off, and we were able to overwhelm The Wolfpack’s wing play with numbers and quick passing. We got a number of good opportunities, especially with d’Étaples playing an advanced role, and we scored two in the first half and Kiku Hamasaki put away a splendid, pivoting volley in the second half to close out the game. Our defenders held together, but again, you could see that it wasn’t a strength of ours. But two clean sheets in a row were a nice way for this squad to start out.

But then there was the Nephara match… I mean, it was as good a start as anyone could have dreamed of. There was nice movement, and at times it seemed like we were using the physicality of the Cormorants against them. When we weren’t dancing around aggressive challenges, we were getting whistles called in our favor. Kiku scored another pretty goal after Sakura Ueno picked out a beautiful pass that caught their defenders badly out of shape, and Seidel, who hasn’t particularly been impressing in the first two matches, managed to get one over the wall and neatly under the bar to score from a free kick. Again, their aggressiveness seemed to be playing into our hands.

But they flipped a switch during the half time, and I suppose after losing to Terre des Gaulles and getting outplayed by us for forty-five minutes, they were ready to show what they were capable of. We were steamrolled coming out of that locker room, two goals put past Yamaguchi in a span of maybe eight minutes. Both of them were sloppily defended, and the pace and skill of Nephara were clearly evident. The ease with which they were able to dismantle our defense, so quickly and efficiently was fairly disheartening to see.

The last half an hour or so wasn’t quite as bad, but it seemed like just stalling against the inevitable. We got several chances, but nothing was bouncing quite our way, and there was certainly nothing that showed that we were capable of the type of quick goal that Nephara would be able to produce. It took them longer than I personally expected, after substitutions were made. One of their forwards, named Rook Cathar (another in the mold of Gerd Thunder, who you ought to remember), had been having a bad tournament, by all regards, clinched victory for Nephara with this absolutely incredible shot off of a cross. Ryan Yamaguchi probably should have been more aggressive, knowing a striker of that quality was lurking, but as it was the marking was inadequate and Cathar was able to basically destroy the ball and bury it into our net.

Anyway, following the loss, Miura has announced a host of changes in the lineup when we host Vaugania. It’s supposed to look like:
FW: Hamasaki, M. Francis,
MF: Burke, d’Étaples, Hendrickson, Ueno
DF: Crooks, Mizushima, Irby, Cole
GK: Romero
with a bench of, Miyamoto, Yukimura, a’Ducézièt, Morris, Ito, J. Francis, Collins, Hall, Seidel, Briggs, Fujioka, Yamaguchi, and Tachibana.

I’m excited to see Melba Francis, but again, the size of Burke and Melba are going to be issues. And I know it’s early, but the Golden Eagles from Vaugania are looking like real threats to qualify out of the group directly, taking nine points in three matches including an impressive victory against Kandorith. Despite the fact that they’re apparently having some turmoil in their nation.

Anyway, I do hope to hear from you soon. And I hope you understand about [Redacted].

Sincerely,
[Redacted]
