yep so i actually went up and started making something
original plan was coin but then i started thinking about other stuff and the possibility of interceptor amazed me
if i am to make coin i will use propellers but if interceptor i will use a single jet engine
also because i thought and still think jet engines will be easier to draw than the damn props

i dont care of stealth, not that i dont value it, just that i dont have the knowledge to do such thing properly.
2 seater, the image is the shape of the plane, which is heavily subject to change (i think drawing the wings will be a hassle too but i will see what i can do)
also the cap is heavily cropped, original is in 1366x768 because of something i was doing before and forgot to change

Image

so does this looks more coin-y or intercepty?
and which path should i choose? why?
other suggestions not related to these two questions are accepted and very valuable to my journey of the skies

Looks more trainer-y. No I'm not even kidding or jesting, its profile looks a lot like the BAe Hawk. TBF, the Hawk (depending on which precise model you wish to emulate) can handle either COIN duties (almost all of them so long as they're armed) or light interceptor (Hawk 200).

Whichever role you emphasize is dependent of course on what kind of country you are and what situation you're facing. If you're some kind of banana republic with a lot of rebel scum running around then yeah focus on COIN, although again, there are aircraft which can work both roles to a point (a light Hawk 200 interceptor is definitely no match for F-14/15/16/18/Su-27/MiG-29, let alone 5th Gen jets like the F-22/T-50/J-20/F-35, but its better than nothing.)
LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR YOU. HATE.

guess i will do trainer and light intercept, thanks!

edit: so much time, so little progress... i will get there, eventually

since the original project looks like a old ww2 crop duster, I decided to give it a better look.
currently in development by caersa (cesarland aeronautics, electronics, radar, and space administration)

I dont even know where to but this will definitely get me somewhere
again everything is subject to change. you never know when i go mad and decide to erase half and redo everything.
dont know if im going to keep it two seater too.

Going for, essentially, a C-130-look-alike. Cargo aircraft, meant for short makeshift airfields. A versatile baseline cargo-plane. Now, questions:

1- Turboprop or Turbofan?
2- Wing configuration? Tail configuration?
-- I was thinking of either doing a slanted box-design, for lift, or a regular horizontal, top-mounted wing like the C-130.
-- For the tail, dual-canted, or single-vertical? Stabilizers mounted at the base or the end?

I've been trying to come up with a similar idea myself, so I will pass on my thoughts.

1 - Turboprop all the way. Efficiency is a major factor, but also if you are operating from unpaved/improvised surfaces you don't want things being sucked into a Turbofan.
2 - The wing configuration is going to be straight, high mounted. Again you dont want rubble bejng flicked up and catched the control surfaces. It also keeps the props out of the way when loading and increases your ground clearance if you want to do amphibious/arctic variants.
As for the tail, either C-17 style, on the basis that the new A400M uses it and so it must have some major advantages, or, twin vertical/slightly canted (Think F-15SE style) with base mounted stabilisers for maximum control amd rule-of-cool.

A box wing would have some advantages but I believe these would be better suited to a strategic transport/tanker aircraft that will be operating out of major airports most of the time.
I set out to create a nation based on few laws, and common sense. Then I realised people are half wits who will use any excuse to test the boundries, and no boundries would be anarchy. Britinthia now has red tape on a scale never before seen outside of the U.K.

You need a lot more diversity. Like a multitude of support aircraft and the like.

Just once I'd like to see someone lead with "This is our primary AEW aircraft..."

Which, I suppose would be hypocritical of me. I've yet to actually design a dedicated AEW.

I forgot to add it, But we use the S 100 "Argus" as our AEW-aircraft. I've fixed it now though.

Eclipsor-class bombardment vessel:

Image

Also known unofficially as 'Stubby', for it's large but short barrels.

Armament:

3x512mm rocket launchers (front)

8x380mm rocket launchers (6 sides and 2 front)

6xbombing bays, dropping 380mm or 550mm rockets, along with their boosters for maximum damage.

40xTwin-88 AA complement

Armour:

550mm frontal, sloped 25 degrees.

500 side, sloped 15 and 30 degrees.

200mm top, 0 degrees slope.

150mm rear, 25 degree slope.

Design:

The airship uses 2xtwin turbojet engines, a rather new technology. The gas envelope is filled with helium and reinforced heavily with protection in case of a leak. Without these measures, even a small leak would explode the whole envelope catastrophically. The envelope is superheated with coal to increase it's lifting power. The heat from the coal also powers electrical systems aboard the ship. Mainly, the lights, radar, and communications.

The weapons are also relatively new, instead of using cannons, the airship uses large rocket launchers that sacrifice projectile speed and penetration for ease of reload and larger rocket sizes.

Cost:

Don't ask.

By international standards, the Grand New Zealand Air Force is not exactly a powerful aerial force. Most of its combat capability is provided by 36 ageing F-16A Block 15 multirole fighters assigned to three squadrons, one of which is based in Fiji. These aircraft have received some upgrades since their acquisition, including the capability to deploy the Harpoon anti-ship missile. The rest of the GNZAF force is composed of F-16B Block 15 twin-seat fighters, P-3K Orion maritime patrol aircraft, C-130H Hercules transport aircraft, Aermacchi MB-339 trainers, and a small number of other types. There are currently plans to replace the F-16s in service with a more modern fighter aircraft, but no official replacement has been selected.

I did.. perhaps since the very first day i joined NS.. But no one follows the suite.

The variety of Vihenian AEW.

The main Air force AEW/AWACS

Export Available AEW

Fleet AEW

Shipboard AEW VTOL's

and even UAV

Unmanned AEW

I was also doing a "refit" To give Tu-16 AEW capability.

Your first two look a bit unstable; they look as though the center of lift is far from the center of mass. All are quite good on the artistic and creative side of the house, though.

The Aerial Forces of the Federal Socialist Republic are, on paper at least, formidable. For example, there are over 4,000 fighter planes in the squadrons of the Air Combat Command but when you look at the units, some are pretty outdated. The most numerous fighter and backbone of Air Combat Command is the MiG-29SMT. The MiG-29 is a fourth generation jet fighter. The SMT upgrade allows the jet to carry more weaponry, enhanced air-to-surface capabilities, improved avionics, enhanced radar, larger fuel tanks and powerful thrust and superb agility thanks to a new power plant. The larger fuel tanks give the MiG-29SMT a range of 2,100 km which is an extension of 670 km on the original internal fuel capability. The SMT upgrade also delivers a in-flight refueling capability that wasn't featured in the original fighter.

Image

The upgraded MiG is also a multi-tasker: fighter, interceptor, attack, reconnaissance and command post plane are all featured roles. There are 800 MiG-29SMT's in service with the Aerial Forces, a squadron of these jet's are serving at every airbase in the country.

Currently wondering whether or not anyone has heard about the development of 6th Gen fighters? Kassaran Aerospace and the Puruhki-Seranin Aerospace Corporation both are working together to create an all new Air-superiority Strike Fighter alongside plans for a new Strategic Interceptor, projected max speeds are currently classified, but many project them to be capable of Mach 6+ travel super cruise capabilities and will be carrier launch capable, however whether or not the vehicles will be able to land on a Carrier is another matter entirely as many speculate that the launching of said 6th Gen craft will be assisted by magnetic acceleration rails.

We have. And hypersonic speed will almost certainly not be part of their capabilities, at least IRL. Such speeds would only be used or needed by specialist aircraft, not fighters.
