Do you just sit at home like some sort of WA Grinch waiting for all the regulars to declare their love of bamboozles and snickeetdoodles only then to step in and announce your support knowing it only only further your decent? You're doing some seriously questionable shit as of late and while this certainly isn't the worst it's definitely the cherry on the cake, and I really hate cherries on my fucking chocolate.

That's a rather aggressive response. Mind telling me exactly what I allegedly did to deserve it? (Preferably by TG, so we don't turn this into a threadjack.)

(OOC: Yes, it is. I'm well aware of the lemming effect, and have used it to my advantage on more than one occasion. However, I try to make my roleplay as realistic as possible, so my ambassador naturally assumes that, like their real-life UN counterparts, World Assembly delegations are competent enough to read resolutions before voting on them.)

They do, but if you'd read the actual resolution, it says that the votes are based on the national governments' directives, and the purpose was to affect national governments, as per the resolution, not the actual ambassadors that we RP in the halls. We may read them, but ultimately, it is our ambassador's government that makes the decisions. Notwithstanding the powers that a plenipotentiary has, the resolution builds offices that the government uses and not exactly us as ambassadors, since we already read the debates and stuff anyway.

As for the vote-lemming, for as long as people know how to use TGs, scripts, and money, you'll have them nonetheless, given that most people are too lazy to read the walls of text that some resolution authors come up with, and are willing to believe anything a TG campaign is saying *shrugs*

Given that not all ambassadors are plenipotentiaries, we don't see any valid reasons for repealing said resolution, since it actually increases democratic freedom as it helps people to educate themselves of things that affect their countries, in cases where they may need it. Not everyone starts out with super-democratic-competitiveness in their countries.

(OOC: But why? The question is a serious one even in the NS universe. There are many purposes to the WA as it currently exists and the General Assembly is only one of many primary functions that nations involve themselves in. Nations who send delegates in order to maintain standing in the Security Council rarely take the General Assembly seriously. Other nations will consider their influence exceptionally minor and will often lean on the advice of others (sometimes even the apparent majority). Given all of this and the fact that there are REAL WORLD LEGISLATURES whose representatives don't read the bills they vote on "We have to pass the bill to find out what is in it" the thought that a World Assembly delegate or representative might be more interested in body politics than in the actual text that might be in some otherwise boring resolution is not an exceptionally unreasonable one.

Consider the current resolution up for a vote. How many of the delegates can say that they are comfortable with the definitions as given, with the restrictions as written and the functions of the committees as written off the top of their heads without having to bring up the document and read it one more time. This is not unique to us; most ambassadors to the United Nations are generally medium grade ambassadors who are more concerned with keeping up international appearances than to ensure that everything is "correct." (Climate Change Resolutions Anyone?) Oh look, here is a resolution on children. I'll approve it even though, had I bothered to read it, there was a passage in it that permitted and even encouraged child rape. I would argue that the size limitation of WA resolutions means that this is less needed here than in the REAL WORLD, not the other way around.)

Why do we want to repeal one of the few WA laws that actually have a bit of common sense?
"No! No, you behave like this and we become just... savages in the street! The juries and executioners, they elect themselves! No, it is medieval! The rule of law, it must be held high and if it falls you pick it up and hold it even higher! For all of society, all civilized people will have nothing to shelter them if it is destroyed!"

You know, common ettiquette on this forum dictates that you at least offer some sort of relevant response to questions/comments/criticisms you get for proposals you post. "Already stated in above proposal" is not an argument; you have to be able to defend your assertions, even ones so blatantly contradictory as "This resolution is ineffective and does not go nearly far enough to restrict the dearly held democratic freedoms of diplomats." Because really, that's what this argument reads like.

I would hope that nations appoint literate individuals to that task. It's certainly better than having illiterate ones.

Representative Dexter adjusts his tie. He stands up, clasps his hands behind his back, and addresses the floor.

Certainly, it seems as though the value of Resolution 122 is at worst symbolic, insofar as it makes the point that proposed resolutions ought to be read before voted upon. Furthermore, its best case scenario seems to enforce that symbolic preference by potentially compelling delegates to obey the law. Any loophole that may exist is so insignificant as to be of negligible influence. For these reasons, Golgothia cannot support such a frivolous resolution.
Dexter returns to his seat.
