Okay, here's why I haven't responded yet. I'm trying to set the scene up in my head.

The cop walked up and knocked on the driver's side window. He had a view through the windshield. It's a Kia, not a blocked out van. He noticed (based on description) the two men in the vehicle. The driver rolled down his window and handed papers. I've thought all along that the driver is the one talking because, in order for the passenger to talk, the cop would need to stoop to hear him and would have asked if the driver was unable to speak English (normally, on a stop, the person in command of the vehicle is the one who gets a bit more attention, since he could start it up and use it as a weapon.)

The officer would have noticed someone in the back. Cops watch for fidgeting. Remember, he thinks they're here for drugs. He suspects they might be carrying weapons or attempt to run. Cops don't approach any stop without a high amount of caution, even if they're a first responder to an accident. So, the guy who wasn't in the backseat before is suddenly fidgeting (moving, which draws the eye) and the cop is going to put his safety first.

What should happen is the cop draws his weapon and orders the driver out of the vehicle. That removes the threat to his safety as far as the vehicle being a weapon. His partner will call for backup and then order one of the passengers out, most likely the one in front. Both men will be ordered prone on the ground. Passenger #1 is cuffed. That cop watches backseat while driver is cuffed. Passenger #2 is ordered from the vehicle. The cop's voices are ramped up at this point because the back seat can hide all sorts of weapons.

I haven't posted yet because I'm giving Urran the benefit of the doubt and thinking the guys in the vehicle are experienced agents of some sort. They'd know not to fidget, even if Urran is unfamiliar with traffic stops/drug stops.

I need to get your guys out of the mindset that police and military in this RP are dense flatfoots. Prim established them as stupid, and a few other "horror" events cemented that in because things occurred with there weren't any players to RP these NPCs. I'm playing the police NPCS at the moment as cops you'd find in the US, Europe or Japan. They're very well trained, they approach every stop as if it had the potential to kill them, and they look for obvious signs of trouble.

In case no one cottoned on... because my post probably wasn't seen in the OOC... that homeless man was a cultist investigating the vehicle before the police approached. The cultist would have seen who was in there.

When is a cultist not a cultist? When he's playing dress up, 'natch!

I've only got a few minutes online. My meeting's tonight so I won't be home until late.

I agree.

I can't just discard any sense of realism. But then what? Cer says "challenge them to come up to your level". In any other RP, the situation would have played out like it was, with the cops responding that way. We're not totally set up as spoof, and people asked for more realistic elements way back when, or else I'd have played it slapstick. Bones is right in that regard. Cause and effect.

Then again, people, I don't care if people want to do stuff, but please give me a heads up in TG first. Run it by me to see if it's going to complicate other things that are going on.

Urran, you didn't clear these three new characters with me or Cer or Tilt or Bones. REDACT your posts, please. That, people, is how many RP are run. I'm not going to waste any more time on a matter that wasn't cleared to begin with.

No, we really need to stop redacting every single damn thing. It's screwing over the RP, every third thing gets redacted. It's confusing, and encouraging lazy RPing since people just think if something goes wrong they'll redact to make things right.
