(some of them literally)

WELCOME to PART VIII (IC)
TO JOIN, SIGN UP AT THE OOC thread.

IC Part I - The Beginning.
IC Part Deux - New Building, Same Nonsense.
IC Part III - Island Living for the Holidays.
Part IV - Returned to Building, Oh My Gods!
Part V - Five Golden Threads! (aka Oh My God... They're Breeding!)
Part VI - The Day the Drones Destroyed the World
Part VII - Return to Civilization
Part VII.5 – The Soup Thickens.
Original OOC thread - Locked.
OOC thread Part II - Locked.
OOC Thread Part III - Locked.
OOC Thread Part IV - Locked.
OOC Thread Part V - Locked.
GUIDELINES:
  • You can play your characters as either serious or light. We're a mixed group.
  • Got a problem with a player? Take it to that player in TG to resolve it.
  • It's a fast-moving thread. It's okay to ask "where is everyone and what happened while I was gone?" in the OOC thread.
  • Please save earth-shattering adventures until the weekends. Earth-shattering would be any side-story that affects the entire house (blowing up the building, planet-wide invasions, world destruction, etc). Minor stuff (zombie attacks, localized plagues, genderbenders, etc) can be ignored by players who are offline.
  • What kind of character can I play: We have anthros, velociraptors, gods, demons, angels, cyborgs, robots, magic users and mystical beings, warriors/soldiers/super soldiers, average mortals, A.I.s, thieves, spies, emperors, mad scientists, and whatever Bones and his brothers are. Anime seems to be a big theme, followed by offshoots of various pantheons and fiction.
  • Please don't be a God Mode Sue. We have several powerful characters. They've evolved over time. They will kick your ass if you come in like gangbusters and try to dominate the thread. Look through the character tabs in the post below to gain an understanding of everyone's characters.
  • Act out your violent fantasies elsewhere. We keep it PG-13 here.
  • Please message Swith Witherwward or Cerillium if you plan to play a god. There are specific guidelines in place to keep things in balance so non-god characters are treated fairly

ACTUAL RULES:
  • HAVE FUN!
  • OP is GOD. Co-OP are GODS.
  • NO godmodding.
  • There will be NO structural changes made to the city without full permission of OP and Co-OP.
  • Citizens of Bielefeld are not there to be spindled, mutilated and torn apart. City officials (to include police and military) are OP/Co-OP NPCs.

Suggestion on time flow
Time passage: one real day = one day in IC. This wouldn’t apply to characters in slower moving stories. It’s just a gauge. Let’s see how it works. Players can then choose to slow down their scenes to prolong a night.
PL is a place where new players can learn the basics of RP. The majority of our members are people looking to advance their skills or to learn more about RP in general. We offer RP workshops on our OSF. Veteran players are always welcome as well.

We provide players with a safe haven. We have minors ergo our IC and OOC are kept PG-13.

We are a diverse group comprised of agnostics, atheists, Buddhists, Christians and other faiths. People of all sexual orientations and gender associations are at home here. We have members from all political affiliations and ideologies. We respect each other and we respect each person's right to hold their beliefs. We are the family.
The IC OP is Cerillium. The IC Co-OP are Bone Fort, Tiltjuice.

The OOC Thread Manager is Swith Witherward. She only functions as OP for NS administrative purposes. The OOC Co-OP are Bone Fort, Cerillium, Tiltjuice.

Their word is law. They function as RP moderators for this thread. If you have a problem with a player that can't be solved via TG, take it to them. They serve as mediators. They have the authority to ask any player to leave for just cause.

Current Game Mentors: Giovenith, Swith Witherward. (PL Game Mentor description here)
Oh my God. They killed Yoshi. You bastard!

  • First: his "Suicide attempt". He kind of forgot he couldn't have alcohol so the raptors had to revive him.
  • Second: The chocolate bugs ripped him apart in fairy form. He likely would have survived if the hive's control hadn't been severed, actually. I believe that Swith helped him there
  • Third: He died in war. We all know what happened.
  • Forth: Alcohol again! I wonder who will help him this time!

Turning over a new leaf...

Postby Cerillium » Fri Jul 05, 2013 3:09 pm

The inside of the Parliament Building was grand. Polished marble floors and heavy carpets blanketed the ground. Not even Volturiu’s feet could mar the surface. It had that “government smell” to it. For those who have not experienced it: there wasn’t anything distinct about it other than it was neutral, lightly scented by paper and cleaning chemicals, and dry.

A clerk loitered in the hall in wait for them. “Good afternoon,” he bowed. “So glad you could come. This way, please. Step right this way. You’re right on time.”

The meeting was held in a smaller parliamentary room normally reserved for discussion before taking the main room for even further debates. The warm toned woodwork glowed under fading sunlight trickling in from stained glass window. Three men occupied the three seats in front of the Prime Minister’s chair.

John Banks sat center. He was the Minister of Law and Order for good reason. He was a no-nonsense man with a level head who achieved balance when others saw only chaos (of the little ‘c’ sort.) He was a powerful man and held a stern expression.

He sat next to the Minister of Defense. The Minister of Finance flanked his other side. All three men wore black, three-piece suits with stark white shirts and black ties. They weren’t timid men and they were at ease with the group assembled before them. A clerk sat to one side with a transcription machine to record the conversation.

“I suppose you’re all wondering why I’ve called you to appear today, especially as it’s a holiday and outside of government business hours,” Mr. Banks said without preamble. “You’ve been under observation for some time. All of you, not just the ones assembled here.”

He leaned back in his chair. “I am John Banks, Minister of Law and Order. The gentleman on my right is Alfred Marquet, Minister of Finance. This other gentleman is Gregory Hemsig, Minister of Defense. Please, sit down.” He gestured to chairs that had been placed for the occasion. (They would support even Volturius’ weight.)

Ozzall smiled upon checking the order at his desk: it was filed and the ship carrying the weekly arrival of goods from the home galaxy was bound to arrive in a day or two's time. It'd be a fun challenge to raise, and certainly would provide some excitement and stifle any boredom. These thoughts were soon disrupted by a curious holonet message, informing him of a letter left at the door of the embassy. Leaving his desk and walking out to the front, Ozzall was handed the letter by one of the Stormtrooper door guards.

The Stormtrooper officer curiously read the letter, scratching his head at the request. He was technically an alien and didn't have citizenship, and was a member of the galactic government that had a small fleet in orbit, which might explain their wish for him to be at the political meaning. Maybe as an arbiter?

Ozzall shrugged at the thoughts and walked over to the vehicle bay and hopped onto a speeder bike- zipping over to the City Hall in short order.

Volturius ripped open the letter, shedding its packaging and seal in order to quickly scan and memorize the message. Puzzled by it, he then looked to Tipper and began to scan for her clothing- wondering where the hell it was left.

"It's a summons to the legal center of the city. I don't know if you have to come but... hm. Your clothes. I don't mind it at all, and I doubt most would, but I am unsure of legal matters in this city. You have any idea where your robes ended up, or were they torn to shreds?" Volturius inquired as he used his augmented eyes to quickly scan the field, ending up with nothing.

(Quickly shuffle Volt and Tipp if need be, Ozzball's there.)
"Quod Vult, Valde Valt"

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.

Bran entered the room in front of the various ministers and stood straighter, dusting off his red coat, and straightening his Ushanka to a quality that could pass inspection. He checked his medals and noted all of them there. He waited to be addressed to speak.

"I knew we'd be under watch.", Torii mumbled. She took a seat, arms crossed, a cold stare laid on the three other men. Katya sat down as well. She wasn't in such a mood as Torii; she was much more calm, but still nervous. "Under watch? I assume that this meeting is of some importance, then?"

Sigtrygg sat down in a chair, wondering what this meeting was about. He thought the people in the room were some kind of kings or something, especially since they were wearing what looked like nice clothes. He also guessed they could be like the Stadthalters of the Republic of Holland, who were vassals of his father's kingdom. or something like that. He guessed they were the rulers of this city, and all the territories around it. So he decided to show them respect, mainly by being polite and quiet.

Jacob also sat down, but he understood who these people were, unlike Sigtrygg. He politely waited for the people who had called them here to speak, guessing they would tell them when they were ready. He silently wished he had nicer clothes from this time, but all he had were either casual clothes, or traditional clothes from his nation. So he had settles with wearing his normal clothes and jacket, but with the jacket buttoned up.

Minerva sat next to Bran. Klaus sat beside her. His expression remained neutral but he was slightly agitated. Of course he knew they'd been watched. Hell, Chaos was the one watching them - without any financial compensation from the damn city. He hadn't expected the damn government to admit to surveillance.

Tipper had located her robes and slipped them on as they bolted through downtown. She sat on the seat next to Volturius. She could sense Klaus and Minerva but she kept her mouth closed and her eyes respectfully downcast.

"This isn't new to me." Bran whispered to Minerva. He'd been used to being under the watch of someone for most of his life. His parents, the state, and now the city he called home.

The Minister of Law and Order leaned forward in his chair to study each face before him. "You people have a penchant for causing trouble with your magic and technology and pantheons. You destroy property, sometimes frighten our citizens and usually give our street department more work than they can handle. You're lawless and a pain in the ass. That said, you kept the truly harmful things at bay and for that we are grateful."

Mr. Banks sighed and eased himself back into his chair. "I've brought you here to see if you might want to put your talents to better use. We need people with your talents. Let's face it, something tries to destroy our quality of life...... weekly. What we propose is putting you and the other residents on the payroll. Government contract. You'd be responsible for handling the things mortal men aren't equipped for. Interested?"

Ray awakened with a yawn and a sniffle, opening his eyes to spot Albert alongside him. He lay down next to Albert, curled up alongside of his boyfriend, and was under his arm. Ray decided to stay in the position for the time being, before going to perhaps get something to eat...

Luce stood in the corner, against the wall. Instead of focusing entirely on this Mr Banks' words - though he caught them as well - he watched the others in the room. Judging their reactions, and filing them carefully away in his mind. He'd talk to Dora and Chrys about what happened later. They'd gone off to the old city, to do urban exploration - Chrys agreeing grudgingly, in exchange for Dora wearing a bikini the whole day.

"First off,", Torii started, "I do not worship, or belong to, any of these chaotic, dangerous pantheons, nor am I a magick user. I am a normal, mortal, soldier...that said, I find this offer a good one. However, I have my own demands, that may determine whether I accept or not."

Katya nodded. "I am the same as my sibling, here. I may have my own demand or suggestions, and we are both willing to compromise. We may not have the powers or abilities of our friends, but we still have ways of defending the city."

Bran listened to the spiel and shrugged. He wondered if he actually counted in that, being a mortal himself. He figured that there were people out there better than he was, and that they'd simply skip over him and turn his friends into government agents, and leave him out or something. He rose and raised his hand, acting tentative.

He winced at Torii's words, making them all look like cheapskates. "I'd do it if I get satisfaction of protecting others, pay would be nice though."

He fidgeted a bit to get his tail out from under him, because it hurt a bit and was uncomfortable for him to sleep on his tail. The feeling was similar to if you slept on your hand, with the tail feeling numb and being hard to use for anything for a while.

Sigtrygg was confused, he had just gotten to the city, and hadn't seen many of the things that the others had, but they were already offering him a job to work for them. "Waat woouuld wee doo, deen? Waat woould wee geet foorr prroteecting dee ciitii?" He wondered if this was like his job as a Varangian Guardsman, which protected the Byzantine Empire from any and all threats.

Jacob was a bit speechless by the offer. The only thing special about him was that he was more or less a living country. He supposed they could always use Aksarben's technology to help the city, and possibly other resources. They had after all agreed to help during the last invasion, despite being in a different universes. He heard Sig's question, and said, "Yes, as Sigtrygg said, what exactly would we be given for our help keeping the city safe?" He sighed when he heard Torii and Katya's words, which indeed made them sound greedy and like they thought that they would need more than just pay and the satisfaction of helping others to help protect the city.

Volturius unfolded his vibrant red wings, taking up the greater portion of his row of seats in order to gain the attention of 'Mr. Banks'.

"Possibly." The Chaos Raptor responded with a slight predatory snarl in his voice. "Under my terms, negotiated fairly. My banner is only that of the Soul Eater, none other. My loyalties would remain with their forces and my mate. My payroll would also have to be negotiated, as raw currency is not of my true interests."

Volturius then folded his wings when finished with his response, ceding the minister's time to others.

Ozzall meanwhile stuck up a hand and rose from his seat, not entirely sure to make of the current events.

"Er... I'm merely a human clone soldier with better technology than this civilization. I'm sure I speak for others that we don't have the ability to have much of an affect, nor wish to- already being in the service of others. Not only do I doubt I'd be much use against combating any of these supernatural monstrosities that seem to be drawn to this place, it's of a completely different skill-set. Yuri bolted past the medical droid and ran out of the door, her chest ached because of the loss her nation had suffered. Octavian had hell to pay.

Octavian had decided to head back to his nation early, for the debates about who it would be best to go to war with, Bruginstein, or the Lamia species(whose name I have yet to decide) that was slowly encroaching on the colonies of Aksarben and her allies. Octavian wanted to have a war with the lamia species, so he could capture some test subjects that his organization could experiment on to learn about how to kill them more effectively.

So he was gathering some of the things in his apartment together, in preparation of leaving for his homeland. He whistled happily as he worked, because he still thought Yuri was dead.

Mr. Banks first addressed Torii. "Little girl, you're in no position to make demands." His voice then softened as he spoke to Katya, "But suggestions are always welcomed."

Mr. Hemsig held up his hand to stop Banks from speaking. "Mr. Nikanor, we're already looking into purchasing some of your non-lethal weapons. The Ministry of Defense hasn't forgotten the assistance your nation offered in the past - albeit without our permission - and we'd certainly grateful for it. Mortals make up this city. You're the sort of mortal who doesn't blanch when faced with a supernatural foe."

"What we propose is that the city cover your rental fees in the building," Banks continued. "That's to start. We'd also like you all to consider forming yourselves into a task force of sorts. A sleeper cell, if you will, that we activate once we have confirmation that something wicked is afoot. You all have different skills. Some of you hunt vampires. Others kill gods. Others heal and restore. Some are simply fighters with strong hearts. Protection is more than fists and guns."

The Minister of Finance cleared his throat. "We'll leave it up to you to determine what sort of groups you want to set up and how you want them to be put together. We'll be able to discuss fees once we know what you can offer us."

"Also," Banks interrupted, "We're trying to cut down on ludicrous and malicious activities. Frankly, our citizens and the city government has lodged one too many complaints over werejesu, vampires, daemons and demons, angels flapping about the sky, dinosaurs eating people in the morgue, terrorists from other nations coming in to harass. The list is endless. We'd like to rely upon you to police your own kind or the kind you associate with. This is your city, ladies and gentlemen. This is the nation that welcomes you with open arms and doesn't turn you aside, experiment on you, lock you away or prevent you from existing in peace and liberty."

He trained a steady eye on Ozzall. "What we're offering is not an invitation to leave your current government or betray your alliances. We're giving you all a license to operate as a militia - within reason - for the purpose of keeping our city safe from those who would crush it for their own gains."

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.

Blossom was cooking a rather large pot of beef stew for her employers and roommates. She liked cooking even if she could not ingest the food that she prepared. She hummed and her long, silky, black hair swished from side as she swayed. She was in a much better mood but was still VERY upset at Octavian.

"...I don't quite know...", Ray mumbled and fumbled back into a sleeping position. While the doorbell had rung, it didn't seem that anyone was there.

"Mr. Banks, would this negate any current contracts?" Minerva asked. "I'd assume this offer is made to each of us as individuals, ours to take or ignore as we wish? If so, what of those who decide the offer won't work for them?"
