It must be either France or the UK. Germany spends a lot less on their military and has no carrier fleet.
Lately France has been spending more on their military then the UK but France doesn't have a good reputation but I am not sure that is very fair.

I would say that the UK might be the strongest by a small margin.

Its colonies are, among others, Italy, Spain, Mexico, most of middle America, most of South Amerika, and large parts of Africa. While granting them some manner of independence, it is clear that they control a great deal of internal affairs within those countries. Try getting an abortion in Texas.

So close, but not quite. The Holy See is distinct from Vatican City, and the Holy See is the one with a billion followers in about 150 countries, etc. Vatican City is basically an overly-large fancy residence for the Pope, less of a city-state and more of a mansion-state to be honest, although a very very large mansion.

But the person seated on the Holy See, the king of the Vatican, executes the power of the See. And, by extraordinary coincidence, this happens to be the Pope. I think I can be safe to say that the Vatican, the home of the holy see, and also the name of the country, is quite powerful.

France has the biggest military, the best equipment, the best projection force and nukes. Plus it still controls half of Africa.

Germany being slightly better economically speaking isn't that relevant, considered they rely on France for half their trade.

But, my dear Things But Not Stuff, I could be entirely wrong on that. I will have to relearn everything I know about Vatican City, the Holy See, and the Pope.

That’s just the thing though, the Vatican has no influence over the Holy See, but the Holy See has a lot of influence, absolute influence really, over the Vatican. The Pope isn’t the Pope because he is the Head of State of the Vatican, he’s the Pope because he’s the Bishop of Rome, and the Holy See is a distinct sovereign entity from the Vatican, with its own foreign affairs.

France. It has nuclear weapons, demographically growing population, strong navy, strong army, not sure about it's air force but anyway... So they are at least on par with the only other country in Europe to have nuclear weapons, the UK, and such nukes set them above the Germans. Economically and the like it would probably go to the Germans though, although France's nuclear power generation would help them in the event of any conflict. Not to mention their stronger navy to blockade the Germans.
Just pretend this is a signature or whatnot.

The french air force is less numerous than the UK, but it fields Rafales, which are considerably better than eurofighters.

Define power.
If we're including soft power, almost certainly the UK.
Production capability and outright ability to win a long, drawn out war? Germany. Problem is those wars will never happen again between great powers.
Ability to win a short, quick war? Either the UK or France. (They lack germany's ability to build lots and lots of stuff over time, but already have larger amounts of stuff to immediately expend.)
If we're going for economic power, again, it's the UK.

Before you laugh, you have to define power. The UK has it's investments in other countries, which means it influences them.
Germany is invested in itself.

The Chinese put the UK as the 2nd most powerful nation in the world.
The UN classes the UK as the only global power besides the USA. (Unsure if they also include france.)

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

That's also true. It's like the UK in that it's global outlook gives it a lot of clout outside europe.
Whereas if germany tells a country to do something, if they aren't european, they will just laugh.

Er, you got them already. Schengen Treaty: you were allowed to stay outside.

So, frankly, as much as I love having Britain in the EU, time has come for them to realize they're no special snowflake, or to leave altogether.

Your test scores indicate that you are an open-minded progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with a journalist. It appears that you are skeptical towards religion, and have a generally optimistic attitude towards humanity in general.
Your attitudes towards economics appear communist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a humanist.
To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a sensible realistic egalitarian with several strong convictions.

Given that NATO acts as a bloc these days, an individual nations hard power is irrelevant. What IS relevant is soft power.

Yes, the first column is quite irrelevant, but the others aren't really.

Military power is still relevant, some countries still use it to get advantages in countries outside blocs (France in Ivory coast and Mali lately).
