The Leache
Wight

The town was eerily quiet as Kirt pulled the 4.x4 into the town. The small car-park was in the centre of the town, around a weedy water fountain. Kirt parked the car in one of the spots which were all empty bar a battered up city hatchback. How it ever got here is a mystery in itself. The three accomplices got out of the car and started to walk to their destination. There was no-one about. It seemed as if the town had cleared out for these foreigners.

"This place gives me the creeps" said Finn, keeping his exposed arms warm against the cold and rain. Ransu lead them up a steep hill and then onto a plateau. The road stretched for 100 yards either way, before ending abruptly and the door of a house. Along the top of the road were four more houses. Two had lights on in various places. THey took a left and walked to the house on the end of the left-side of the row.

It was the abandoned house, and their new hide out.

Ransu had brought the crow-bar from the car maintenence kit and used it to prize open the door, which was bolted shut. The door opened after several attempts, with the wood around the handle splintering and cracking as it did so. They walked into the dark dusty front room and flicked on thier heavy-duty torches. The room was covered in dust and the furniture was protected by thick sheets. The light switches were non-functioning so they removed the heavy shutters on the window. Although there wasn't much light outside it made a considerable difference and the house was filled with dusty light.

They explored the house, and found two bedrooms, a dining room/kitchen, a living space and two bathrooms. Ransu and Finn opted for the master bedroom, whilst Kirt, having been decided as the hardest working member of the group got the single bedroom all to his self. After putting thier meagre belongings in the wardrobes, they decided to to go into town and buy some stuff for the long-term: food, clothes, batteries, several heaters and other electronic goods. They returned to the centre of the village and each set off with a fistful of Blood Shillings, eager to start their new lives, but deep down, they knew that the SIA were still after them...

The road leading down to the huddled cluster of shops was steep and was often encroached by thick clumps of heather. The road was damp and unmaintained, with several cracks and potholes. No car had come down her for years it seemed. The group of shops was not much to be admired: A small grocery store which stocked the bare essentials, an eatery called Mac's, an auto repair shop which would come in handy and, rather strangely, a funeral directors. Further down the road was a tumbledown church with a few broken gravestones around its overgrown grounds.

They split up into two groups, Finn and Ransu went to the grocery store while Kirt went to Mac's to see what he could find out. The grocery store was unattended when the pair walked in, but a few minutes later two short dark-haired women scuttled through the glass door.

"Morning" the first one barked, without even glancing at the Svenga pair. It was morning? Finn and Ransu couldn't tell because of the heavy cloud cover and persistent rain. The other women disappeared into a back-room. Whilst the first lady took her place behind the counter the pair took a look at the sparsely stocked shelves.

Finn tapped his partner on the shoulder, presenting to him a small tin.

"Canned fish-heads? Really?"

"Eugh" Ransu replied. The speciality of Svengarda was anything to do with fish, and to see such low quality fish was disgusting to the pair.

"Not from round here are you two?"

The pair turned to face the woman behind the counter.

"Haven't had a blonde person here since Mrs Frederick's' Vespa broke down here 34 years ago."

"Err..."

"So where you from then?"

"Svengarda, up north" Finn replied

"Svengarda?!" piped up the woman from the back room. She emerged from the gloom with a box of tins in her tiny arms. "My uncle's cousin's daughter's friends once went there. Is it true that it's very cold there?"

"Err..yes, very cold"

"Not much difference then" she said, before cackling quietly to herself and returning to the back room.

"So what you doing here then?"

"University studies"

"Oooh, I'd better leave you be then. Alcohol is behind the counter"

"Thanks" Finn replied with a tired smile. They continued on their search through the shelves for edible food. They managed to pick out bread, eggs, and milk. They bought out every box of a cereal named Bland Flakes and several boxes of pasta.

"What have you got?" asked Ransu, pointing to the cabinet of booze beneath the counter.

"Beer, wine, spirits"

"I'll take two six packs of beer, whatever you have."

She leaned down to open the doors of the cabinet and brought out two packs of Grumpy Farmer beer and placed them in their baskets. Ransu handed over the appropriate money whilst Finn flicked through a well-thumbed copy of Wightling National Press. It was a few days old, and the headline read something about some goings-on in the centre of the country. The print was thick and fuzzy, and tiring to read.

Finn and Ransu left the shop and walked the few yards to Mac's. They spotted Kirt sitting at one of the plastic tables and entered to join him. They were met with a delicious smell, like cooking meat. They put their numerous shopping bags down besides the table and sat on the plastic chairs around Kirt.

"So what's going on in the place then?" questioned Ransu

"I'm might just as ask you the same question. The people don't really seem keen on talking. They seemed bemused by my hair, something about Mrs Frede-..."

"We heard"

"So yep. Weird place"

Finn turned to survey the cafe. Behind the glass counter was a man wearing white overalls, presumably Mac. Two other tables were occupied, one by an old man wearing all tweed clothes filling out a crossword, and the other was occupied by a foreign looking woman by herself. She had slightly tanned skin and dark eyes and hair. She looked blankly at a map of Wight on the far side.

"Can I get you anything sirs?"

Finn turned with a jolt. The man standing over him was Mac. 5ft 4" and completely bald. He held a notepad and was tapping his pen impatiently.

"Two coffees, and..." Finn squinted at the blackboard sitting by the counter. "And a Potato and Pickle sandwich. Oh and a pie for Ransu?"

"Rabbit or goat?"

"Goat, please" replied Ransu, who still had his eyes fixed on the mysterious woman at the other table

Without writing anything down Mac grunted and trotted off back behind his glass fortress. The rain was falling harder now, and Finn could no longer see the car park where their car was parked. Mac returned with the food a few minutes later and Finn was about to take a bite of his sandwich when something caught his eyes. Rolling past the fogged up glass of the diner was the unmistakable grumble of the SIA 4x4...

Life About Charles Garcia - Chapter 6 - 5th Grade (1993-1994)
it was Monday, September 6, 1993, when it was Charles Garcia's first day in fifth grade and middle school. He now had a new computers teacher, Marina Renault. Mary Albert and Jennifer Lawrence were still his best friends. John Orville moved to Vircao and we had a new member in the GOAL Group, named Alexander O'Connor, who was a new student. He was a master computer programmer. My afterschool activity was the Computer Club, which was run by Mrs. Lowe and him. I was in 8th grade Pre-Algebra and 6th grade History and Science. My older brother was in the 8th grade, who w. My younger brother John was in the 2nd grade. My sister Mary was in Kindergarten. During June 1994, the Computer Club went to a trip to the Vircao Technology Museum. During summer, Charles Garcia and his family went to Vilstadt for a vacation. Elizabethville Junior United was about to win their 104th championship. And so they did.

The plane journey back from Kialga was a lot less "exciting" than the one on the way there, partly because most of the Mashik players had become paranoid about nearly crashing again, and wee therefore sat on their seats in silence, starry-eyed as to what was around them. But Dilio Menz wasn't that kind of guy; as captain, he felt that it was sort of his duty to look after the players and be like Maha to them (partly because Maha hubineski wasn't exactly the most inspiring person in the world). So he stayed awake while the rest slept, making sure no other sort of disease was contracted.

His thoughts now came back to home, and about what might be happening there. Mashiki wasn't exactly the pinnacle of medical triumph, but it should've had the resources to be able to deal and cope with a situation such as this one; and he wouldn't be able to find out what was happening in Mashiki, as the news screens on the plane were inactive, due to no news companies being available through the apocalypse for safety reasons. But what about the scores, where did tat leave Mashiki in their push for World Cup qualification? If his calculation and informatants were correct, wins from all 3 of Mashiki's rivals (Geisenfried, The Babbage Islands and Astograph) would leave Mashiki in joint 3rd place with Astogtaph. However in the next game against Geisenfried, a win or even a draw would haul them back into the mix after winning 5 games on the trot. The pendulum would swing our way though as tey are also yet to play against TBI and Astograph, which works to our advantage.

'But enough of that...' Menz thought, 'I need some sleep...'

A slight delay landing the airport was all that was needed to scare the Mashik players. They knew something had gone wrong. Even before they landed a radio call had said that the airport ha been secured, due to excessive amounts of zombies. Upon landing, a feeakish rattling sound came from the distance, followed by excessive groaning. The zombies were on the loose. The team was quickly escorted around the building into a minivan, and they were driven at an intense speed to the stadium in central Guadir.

Figures later showed that a total of 67,500,000 had been killed, leaving only 5,000,000 survivors, 100,000 of those in Guadir. They were outnumbers by the zombies by 2 to 1, but they really didn't care... The Midrifts stadium was almost deserted when kick-off came about, with around 100 Mashik supporters trying to make the ksyvof the situation after venturing out into the new wilderness. The Geisenfried fans were even further decimated, with just 56 fans turning up on one coach that had travelled all the way from Geisenfried. The other coach held the players. The game was still exciting however, with a quick goal from the Geisenfried forward being quickly counteracted by a curling free-kick from Dilio Menz. However Geisenfried hit back just begore half time to make the score 2-1. Mashiki pressured throughout the first 10 minutes of the second half, and they were rewarded when Papovski's strike from close range levelled the score. Bit when as draw looked to be on the cards, Geisenfried were awarded a penalty in the 85th minute, only for it to cannon off the crossbar, which meant the final score was 2-2. Mashiki were encouraged by the result, but they were now in 4th in Group 17 nearing the halfway stage.

To make matters worse their next game was at the nation of Arcquest, a nation overridden with zombies, with everyone evacuating to bordering countries. It was a living graveyard. In Arcquet there was no control, and anything could happen. Everything was ready to go wrong

OOC: Starting yet another RP idea; this series will now take the place of the diary entries.
Jamal Berhalter bounced the ball skillfully between his feet, trapping it against the ground before rifling a powerful shot across the empty parking lot towards the imaginary net. Berhalter, like any teenager, harbored a strong interest in athletics; however, unlike many of the other kids in hiss rundown "neighborhood", he was devoted to soccer, rather than the more mainstream basketball. Jamal lived with his mother in what was generally considered the seedy part of town; there were usually upwards of three or four break-ins a month. Shooting tended to be somewhat rarer, although they were certainly not unheard of. Jamal lived with his single mother; his parents had divorced 8 months into his mother's pregnancy. Jamal had maintained a decent, although somewhat strained, relationship with his father, although that had ended a few weeks ago when he had been shipped out to the state pen on charges of heroin possession, with intent to sell. Of course, like most poor kids living with single mothers, Jamal had a tendency to be picked on, and had been suspended more than once during his lifetime for fighting back. But, despite all of these problems, Jamal knew he was special. He knew that he had a talent that would someday lead him away from the violent streets that he currently called home; Jamal was one of the top footballers in all of the country. Just three weeks ago, he had been invited to play on the national U21 team, although he wasn't able to attend due to his mother's inability to pay for his plane ticket. Not wanting to be unable to take advantage of such an opportunity should another arise, Jamal had taken a minimum-wage job hauling away trash for one of Shadowbourne's many private trash collection services. However, Berhalter knew it would be a long while before he would be able to pay his way to the Bournean National Pitch to try out for a team.

Then, one day, he received a call that changed everything.

"Hello, is this Jamal Berhalter?"

"Yes, sir. May I ask who's calling."

"Why yes, of course, I didn't mean to sound round. I'm Xiodong Russo."

Jamal gasped, as any soccer-obsessed 17-year old living in Shadowbourne would. "Like, Xiodong Russo, the national team manager?"

"Indeed, that would be me. As you may know, one of our midfielders, Emile Radakovic, went down with an unfortunate injury during training."

"Yeah, so?" asked Jamal, still puzzled as to what this great man on the other end of the phone could possibly want from him.

"Jamal, we want to fly you up to Northcliffe to join the national team."

Jamal couldn't help himself from grinning in joyful disbelief.

“. . . and the shot drifts harmlessly wide. Another chance goes begging . . .”

“Oh come on, sort it out.” Diego yelled at the radio. Sargossa’s World Cup qualification tie against also-rans The Gypsies was thus far not to his liking. In fact the whole damn campaign had been thus far not to his liking. Top seeds were meant to have an easier time than this, weren’t they?

He was interrupted by the sound of the door opening and a new body squeezing into the cabin that served as the trawler’s bridge. He turned to find Luís, one of the new guys, facing him.

“Oh, hey.” He couldn’t muster much warmth for his new shipmate. Luís looked like a thug and had the range of conversation to match. He wasn’t the type you’d like to be stuck in a lift with, or indeed a small fishing trawler in the middle of the ocean. “What’s up?”

“Food.” Luís was a man of few words. “I’ll take over.”

Normally Diego would have paused before he let a man he barely knew take over the wheel of his baby but the desire to leave Luís and join Roberto and the rest of the regulars below deck for some lively banter and disappointing grub was tough to ignore. “Sure, I could do with a change of scenery for half an hour. Any problems, just holla.”

Without waiting for a response he knew wasn’t coming anyway Diego squeezed past Luís and headed below deck. Luís watched him leave in silence. He waited a few more minutes until he was certain that he had some uninterrupted minutes. Fishing in his pocket he dug out a small USB which he then proceeded to plug in to the port on the navi-comp. The auto-run sequence immediately kicked in and the virus was quickly uploaded. As he watched the display Luís saw the waypoint that marked the ship’s destination move ever so slightly further away from the icon that represented the vessel. The difference was negligible but it would be good enough to ensure the ship overshot their mark and sailed blithely into Polarian waters. And as the company were too cheap to fit every boat with the navigational computer all three other ships would follow the lead boat’s course. He span around as the cabin door opened.

“Oh, it’s you.”

“Sure looks like it. How we doing?”

“We are officially off course.”

“Excellent. Prepare for stage 2.”

Xiangzhóu News:SPORTS

Small Setback, After Major Success.

Kandorith has been on a roll ever since the qualification rounds started, with expectations high and the fans' spirit even higher; The defeat of Kandorith brought some sad feelings among some of the fans. Vilita beat the Red Dragons three to one, the first defeat in this run for the Nation, the most flawless record until now.

Head Coach Xíanjí was delighted during the press conference this morning, speaking of greater achievements to be gained.

"Good morning ladies and gentlemen of the press and the fans of our glorious team. We have achieved a new milestone in our World Cup career, the most victories in a row, ever of any Kandorese team before us. Meaning we have already surpassed one of our wishes and are now focussing on our ultimate goal; qualifying. Sadly today we have been defeated by a very strong team, which left us in the dirt. But rest assured our spirits have been lifted and we are ready for our next meeting and we are prepared to win for the glory of our great nation and our even greater fans.
The atmosphere on the training grounds are extremely well, as some journalists were worried that the defeat was caused by tension, but nothing is less true. Our opponent simply outplayed us, which made me shift the focus of the training towards possession football and outplaying the opponent till they will almost fall asleep from tiredness. I will give more than one-hundred percent of effort in making this the greatest team our nation has ever seen and I will give something for the fans to enjoy for the length of the World Cup. Furthermore we as a team would again give our greatest thanks to our fans who travelled to the World Cup with us, seeing the Imperial flags are a great sight for us and make us the proudest team on the pitch."

After the first rounds of qualification as it is tradition the Imperial Household and Imperial Prime Minister Igahano will travel to the venues too, to watch the team play and of course cheer for them. We would like the thank Head Coach Xíanjí for his co-operation as always to our press and we would thank His Majesty, The Emperor in advance for joining us in supporting Kandorith and showing that even leaders can be among the people.

We are awaiting the next match which will be around 14:00PM Local time in Xiangzhóu, Jiayoú Kanduó! Red Dragons claim the heavens!

Despite some sort of zombie-related hubbub, the Blue-Blacks looked great in two matches over the last month, defeating German American States 3-2 on the road before easily dispatching Tyrants 3-0 at the home of Stigastrɨnd F.K. Following these two victories against the bottomfeeders of the group, Hyskigland has moved into a tie for fourth place in the group with Nethertopia and The Inevitably Syndicate.

“These two teams were the two ranked below Hyskigland entering this competition,” head coach Everett Lang observed earlier this week, at the Blue-Blacks’ practice pitch outside of Olstig. “A loss would have been upsetting, I’ll admit. These victories show that we are, without a doubt, above their level of play—we are ready to play with the big boys in the group.”

Of the six goals scored in the two matches, phenomenal forward Erɨk Fɨsk was involved in five of them, earning two assists and three goals. Fɨsk will play an even larger role in the matches to come, Lang says.

“We owe a lot to Erɨk. He is personally responsible for nearly a third of all the goals this team has scored,” the coach explained.

Hyskigland will finish the first half of World Cup qualifying with two away matches and one at home. First, the Blue-Blacks will pay a visit to The Inevitable Syndicate; then, they will play host to Western Cuba at the home of Byorns F.K.; finally, they will travel to Lacus Magni for their ninth match before a prolonged break before the second half of the campaign.

An Adventure In Old Guard - Part Seven

It had been a busy day in the offices of the Post. Jon and Dravid had been called back in. Not only was Clement now getting a big story that would kick off the International Post in style, he was now a detective solving a mystery. Well, him and the increasingly large team of people now helping solve the problem.

His office was overwhelmed, it now contained David, standing by his side, Dravid, Jon, Kali the Forceful (Oldem Police Commisioner), Jennifer Millican, Reginauld the Quaint, two more police officers and some random guy called Zare the Crazy, who had just wandered in off the street and seemed useful. Several different conversations were occurring at once and Clement was finding it hard to think. What were the men's intentions? To whom were the guns headed? What were they planning to use them for? All very important and very relevant questions. He looked around, in time to see Jon slide out of the room, gabbling away on his phone. After a couple of seconds, he ran back in, and shouted;

"EVERYONE SHUT UP!!" Instant silence, "Please prepare yourselves, we are expecting King Iskander the Third in about 3 minutes." An explosion of noise, as people ran in and out, grabbing chairs and bringing them in, organising the chairs in rows so Iskander could fit in. And then he was here, wearing a smart grey suit, with a dull red tie on. Jon instantly engaged him in conversation, it was funny how he could do that, talk to anyone and make them feel instantly at home. Iskander sat down in the front "row" of chairs that now served to make up this executive meeting. Clement nodded at Iskander as he sat down, before glancing nervously at his bodyguard, the ominously named "SPECTRE" who sat down next to him.

"Welcome everyone, to the meeting to work out how to discover what these people are doing and then catch them before they do it. Abbreviated to DWTPADATCTBTDI for short." said Clement smiling, while everyone else looked at him in confusion.

"Why don't we just call it the Emergency Matters Council, or something like that," suggested Jon quickly, trying to cover up his colleagues idiocy.

"Er yes, well, that sounds like a good idea, thank you Jon," continued Clement who was now red-faced and embarrassed. "I'll quickly sum up what we already know."

Five minutes later and the story of what occurred last night had been told, with David telling most of the harbour master part as Clement was still too shocked to talk about it, apart from emitting a little whimper every few seconds. It wasn't even that bad.

"Michucari eh?" said Iskander, "have we got anyone tracking that van?" Clement's face crumpled, who could he have been so stupid to not have someone follow the van. He was about to admit his mistake when,

"Ar yes, as a matter o'fact, I sent off young Pete last night," said David, much to Clement's surprise, with a little wink. He'll phone us in a couple of minutes with an update. Clement sighed with relief. Thank God for David.

"Well, good, now we need to decide what to do," said Clement. A short pause followed, then Kali the Forceful shouted;

"We'd better kill them all, get rid of them!" The room was slightly taken aback, she was forceful. Jon, ever tactful quickly interjected,

"First I think we'd better find out what they're doing whilst we still have the upper hand and the element of surprise. I would suggest that would mean we'd need two or more people to sneak in and find out what's going on wherever they are. Agreed?" Much nodding of heads, "Any volunteers then?" An uncomfortably long silence, before David piped up with;

"Yeah, me n'Clement'll do it, we're good at spying now." A couple of laughs followed, as Clement angrily looked towards David, his face once again red, this time with anger.

"Never, ever enter me to do that," he growled, before noticing everyone was staring at him, "But, but, I'll do it all the same." He tried to sound happy but it just came out a weird, as he flashed one last look of anger at David before slumping back in his chair.

"Good, good," said Jon, "now..." he was interrupted by Clement's phone ringing loudly, as some obscene drum and bass mix filled the air, as Clement's face resumed it's now normal red shade.

"Ah, it's Pete," he said, pressing accept and turning on speaker, "Hi Pete, what have you got for us?" A couple of second of crackle, and then,

"Hi Clement, Pete here, I've been searching for that van, number plated G3NS, and I found it shortly after midday, show bloke in it going to the shops. However, after driving round Michucari for a while, it went to this massive warehouse by the beach, called Tomlins & co. District Branch. That's where it went into. I'm currently sat up a side road, with the road past it in front of me, and there's been quite a lot of traffic on it so far." Smiles all round, they were on to them!

"Cheers Pete, stay there until we give you other info, see you in a bit," Clement hung up. "Right, so we need a plan," he said, looking round at each member of the room. Iskander spoke first,

"Lucky you asked, because I have an idea..." he said, leaning forwards ever so slightly.

Apox 1-0 German American states Vetta 4'
Apox continued on good form, with yet another win, meaning the team are the only team left unbeaten in Group 9. It was relatively simple as we faced the complete unknowns of German American states. Truth be told, the only reason they didn't concede more is after the goal in the 4th minute, coming off the boot of Marlon Vetta, the German American states players, we don't even know their names, went into ultra defensive with a 9-0-1 formation, taking Karela to new extremes. As a result the score remained 1-0 despite our players best efforts and the rest of the game was a very boring spectacle. Sorry about that, hopefully the next game against the equally unknown Tyrants will be more exciting!

Postby Bearded Moose » Tue Apr 02, 2013 3:20 pm

“Oh dear, what did he do now?” Diane declared, her eyes opened wide in shock.
“Not sure,” Heinz responded, “but this is not regular practice in football for sure.”
“That is certainly not how I recall the monks back in the days,” Berthe giggled.

As religion was frowned upon during the last few decades, the sheer idea of having monks around in Bearded Moose was already an event that would be written in history. Nonetheless, our team was more stunned by their footballing capacities and the swiftness with which they moved the ball around. Our Mooses, back on their more defensive outline with Ulfhem and Bojanic as workhorses on the midfield, saw no other chance then to sprint from one side to another, following the leather that went from pious foot to pious foot. Therefore, it was only in the eight minute when Thorsten Ulfhem was too late when Fr. Hilarion controlled the ball and thwirled away. In a desperate attempt, Ulfhem tried to grab hold of Fr. Hilarion, only to end up with the man’s loincloth in his hand. The 4.500 fans –the stadium was packed- were stunned, despite not being the most prude crowd you could imagine. The ref saw no other option then to award Ulfhem with a yellow card, seeing it as a variant of shirt-pulling. The one who was surprised the least was Fr. Hilarion himself, who thanked our young defending midfield when he have back the cloth.

“This game has taken a strange turn,” Anna laughed.
“Still,” Heinz said, “we’ll stay in trouble when things continue like this.”
“Cause,” Berthe asked with a frolicking tone, “next time he’ll refuse to put it back on?”
“What? No, no… Because we will continue to be carded if this is the only way we can stop these guys. They’re the number eight seed for a reason, you know. Their tactics might be… ehm… orthodox, but they certainly have a vast knowledge on the game. We’ll get in trouble!”

Heinz words became wisdom within minutes. Captain Fr. Artemius hit the outside of the post and Fr. Mark headed the ball over the crossbar, although “goated” might have been a more appropriate word. Fr. Eusebius, a man so skinny you would not notice him on the field if he was shown in profile, didn’t leave any space for Oleksandrenko. What he lacked in pure muscle, he made up with skill and poor Oleg hardly touched a ball. Fr. Symeon and Fr. Evagrius had enough time to discuss the natures of Christ, since not a single pass was given to the central attacker over the first forty-five minutes. A frustrating evening for Erichem indeed, not only because he didn’t manage to prove himself for this one time he could start but also because he was not educated enough to give his opinion on the subject.

“We made half time,” Heinz sighed, “and still have a point.”
“But Thorsten ain’t the only one carded in our defence, it becomes more and more difficult each minute. They won’t be happy in the dressing room.”
Heinz nodded in approval.
“Speaking of won’t be happy,” Diane continued. “Where is Georg?”

As if he had heard her words and deemed the game the perfect backdrop for fulfilling a prophecy, Georg appeared, a beer in his one hand and a sack of pistachios in the other one. Without further explanation, he shoved Anna out of his chair, took his seat and stared at the half-time show.

”Alright viewers, next to me is Dino Silvioni, assistant coach. Dino, any changes?”
“Well, we’re doing better than everyone expected so far… Only replacement is Joachim Hem joining in instead of Oleksandrenko, who struggled too much to find his form. Joachim might add something to our attacks.”
“But we’ll continue in our 4-3-3?”
“Yes, Stavros, we might bring more changes later on, especially in defensive where we have already a few players in the yellow, but our tactics go on.”

Despite the Monks dominating the second half as well, some things had changed. With Hem on the field, we even managed to get a bit of build-up. Erichem yelled something in the sort of ‘but what if the miaphysite view on Christ with a clear division on character?’ and this moment of confusion amongst the central defenders from the Archregimancy allowed him to appear in front of goal. Fr. Ephraim was attentive and stopped the opportunity with a well-timed tackle, but it raised national spirits.

“They seem to have weaknesses as well,” Heinz declared with surprise. "That's a first today!"
“Are we going for a stunt?” Diane wondered.

Sadly, we weren’t. During the 56th minute, Fr. Mark moved past Fabianhem alongside the flank. While our central defenders were focused on the ball and our goal, Fr. Theophilus cleverly stalled a few feet outside the penalty area. Fr. Mark rubbed some goat hairs out of his eye and gave a perfect pass to Fr. Theophilus. This last one lifted the ball for a volley and Predragic couldn’t find an answer for his devastating shot.

“That is it, it’s all over.”
“There, there, Georg, half an hour to go!”
“Heinz, I know what I’m saying, this is it.”

As time went by, Heinz had to agree with his grumpy comrade. The Mooses could create only minor chances -a free kick from Bojanic drifted into the hands of Fr. Ephraim- while a doubling of the scoreline by the Archregimancy was a lot more likely. Luckily for us, Fr. Gerasimus couldn’t indicate that he was alone in front of the keeper with a shout, so Fr. Artemius wasted a magnificent opportunity with a needless dribble. All in all, the result was proper.

“You see? We win three times in a row, the papers right, but that was only against weaker sides. When it’s really important, we haven’t got the capacities.”
“We haven’t got them yet, Georg. But we might in the future,” Heinz insisted.
“Either way, I’m glad Thorsten is back on the team,” Diane smiled.

Quite correctly, he had performed well. With a match against Secundus Kasius, in a way the closest team we might be able to beat, on the schedule, this had been a promising day. While the Archregimancy players prayed over their victory, the Mooses greeted their fans. Those cheered for Joachim Hem, their captain that had been left out for a few weeks but seemed to stride himself back in the starting squad. But why had he been off the team anyway?

Special Edition Issue: Interviewing Sebastian Cadiz

The interview room.

By: Beni Cortez

NOTE: Interview occurred April 22nd, 2028. Underlined text means Cortez is speaking and regular text means Cadiz is speaking.

I had the honor to interview Sebastian Cadiz and ask him questions about WC64 Qualifying, his lofe and other interesting topics.

"Hello Mr. Cadiz, I see you're ready to be interviewed." He chuckles. "Of course I am." "Good, Good. First question, how do you feel about Gaveo's second place standing in the qualifying stage?" "I feel wonderful, we have earned more points than our first two WC campaigns combined." "True, next question, how was the last game a emotionally exhausting match?" "It just was. We lost badly against Qazox and we were embarrassed. When the Bergs took the lead 3-1 we thought we had another Qazox game in our hands. But we didn't give up and we fought back with all our hearts." "Wow, I could tell you guys but everything on the line on that game. Another question, how's the home life?" "The home life is great. My sons and daughters sre great and my wife is doing well in her singing career." "Nice. Ok last question, what do you plan to do when you retire from the pitch?" "Hmm, I don't know. Maybe be a coach of a club here in Gaveo." "Sounds great, best of lluck in the qualifiers and in life." "Thank you. Good luck with your reporting."

That was the interview between Sebastian and I. Hope you enjoyed reading it.

Israel Klimt and David Radic, manager and assistant manager of the Audioslavia national team, jumped into the waiting taxi, a tired sigh emanating from each.

"Has it started?" asked David. Klimt shook his head.
"It's finishing. If we do our jobs, then that's the last of it."

It had been a horrible press conference. David hadn't been so anxious about a single press conference since that very first one, over four years ago, in which Israel Klimt made his play to get on-side with the Audioslavian press.

He'd done well. Very well. He'd been friendly and put himself across as an intelligent, tactically astute soccer boss. The results backed up his claims - undefeated in WC63 qualifying against teams whos names didn't begin with a 'P' and end with 'olar Island States', and then, well, yes, that. World champions and all that.

This, then, was the first opportunity for the press to properly get on their back. They hadn't been impressed with the 0-0 draw against Spagbogia, but had accepted the result as a blip, and forgotten it by the time the Bulls had rallied four goals past Zwangzug.

Then came the Krytenia match. Ugh. David shuddered even thinking about it. The worst part about the aftermath of that was the fact that the press hadn't pounced on them. It was like when your mother caught you being naughty but, rather than shouting at you, just looked hurt and betrayed. The questions they'd been asked had been softballs, and they'd been allowed to get out of the press conference early.

This 2-2 draw against Kinitaria, however, had given the journos the opportunity to let off some steam. David and Israel had been shaken.

The final question had concerned the idea that Audioslavia, world champions, may not even qualify for the tournament. Klimt had brushed off the idea, stating that qualifiers weren't even a third of the way through and that the side had already played their two toughest games. "Three wins from three" came Klimt's prediction.

David wasn't sure whether or not the hacks in attendance wanted the prediction to come true. National pride was one thing, column inches quite another.

World Cup Blog: Ponies Will Look to Break Free and Break Records Against Osarius
by Steve McNotapony

Just about an hour before kickoff here in Burningham, Osarius, and the stands are already starting to look full. Doubtlessly, a lot of people (and quite a few ponies as well) realized just how important this match will be for both sides.

Currently, the Equestrians lead Osarius by just two points in the Group 6 standings despite going 6-0-0 thus far to set a team record for best start to a World Cup qualifying campaign. Should the Ponies win, they’ll extend their lead to five points and will likely have a bit of a cushion heading into their visit to the 16th-ranked Sargossans where they will be the underdogs. A draw would do little to either team, but would help Osarius a bit more than it would for the Equestrians as a Ponies win against Sargossa seems unlikely despite the higher-ranked team’s struggles thus far. Finally, an Osarius win would launch that team by the Ponies to give them a narrow one point lead in the group, which (as stated earlier) would likely expand when the Equestrian States faces Sargossa.

In addition to the well-known implications of tonight’s match on the group standings, the Ponies also have the record books to play for. After defeating Mitumba 5-1, the Equestrian winning streak reached ten matches, tying the current team record that was set back when the national team swept through Market Cup V while the reserves of that team struggled in World Cup 58’s qualifiers. A win would break that record, but a draw would also set a record for the Ponies. The current unbeaten streak of the Equestrian national team is eleven games (the ten wins in addition to a draw against Jeru FC in the 55th Cup of Harmony), equaling the several year-old record set during that Market Cup run and was then repeated during the World Cup 61 cycle.

Continued from here.

In contrast to the incident-packed first day as Lokani manager, Milo felt that the next few days flew by. Despite the fact that he knew nothing of training routines, he thought he'd have a go anyway. He thought that it might be worth talking to the players, finding out how they were used to doing things. Turns out that, for the most part, training routines in professional clubs didn't have a whole lot of differences to those you might find at the lower levels, such as those in park football. It was just that, once you got into the League, the players were a lot better at them.

As such, Milo went through a range of skills exercises with his charges. Nothing you might recognise as out of the ordinary, or a flash of tactical genius, or anything along those lines. But the one thing to Milo's benefit was that he quickly built up a good rapport with his team. It wasn't long before his players were responding to him, showing a sense of team spirit, and actually getting along with each other. Failure to do this was, in Milo's opinion, one of the main reasons they had put in so many shoddy displays over the season so far.

One thing which Milo was keen to get across to his players was the importance of the upcoming clash with Sosiyala Hosesti. To be honest, they were probably well aware of the significance of this game before he even arrived at this club. Lose this one and they were almost certainly disappearing from the C-League. But then again, Milo had his own, possibly slightly selfish, reasons for demanding success. It was his first game, after all, and he didn't want to be made to look like a fool in front of the Lokani faithful, some of whom he was on good terms with. Or, at least, he had been before he landed this job... that's another thing, he had no idea where his social life lay any more.

The day before the key game, Milo was determined to put his players through their paces in training. The basic idea, he had found, was making sure that this team of professionals still knew how to do things like pass and shoot. There was probably much more to it, of course, if you were a sports scientist or if you were managing right at the top level. But Milo was neither, he was just your average cynic who had, with the help of coaching drills downloaded from the internet, been getting himself through the past three days without embarrassing himself too badly. On the positive side, he also found that he'd quickly built up a picture of who was who in his squad, and his idea of who should start the game against Sosiyala Hosesti more or less matched the opinions of those fans he'd discovered on the internet. He viewed this as a good sign.

"Right, lads," he announced to the team, having called them in at the end of the training session. "Tomorrow might be the most important day our club has ever faced. We have to win. There's no way around it. There'll be thousands of fans there urging you on, so make sure you come back here tomorrow prepared to put in the effort, win the game, and push us that bit closer towards safety. I've got full confidence in you, I know you've got the ability, and now it's down to you to come out here and show the fans you can still do it."

With that, the team was dismissed. Milo was wary that the media made an effort to attend training sessions before important games, even at a side lingering around the bottom of the C-League. His natural distrust for the media had been intensified by his, admittedly limited, experience with them since taking up his new job. As such, he waited around inside for a bit, before nipping out of a side door and making the brief journey back to his home, five minutes' walk down the road.

"-a Kishraeli anti-fascist activist who is believed to have been systematically targeting far-right individuals-" blared the TV as Milo looked for something to take his mind off tomorrow's game. He changed channels. "-experts remain mystified as to the cause of the zombie hordes which ravaged-" Click. "-Costin Petran, following his performance in the Kinitaria national side's 2-2 away draw with Audioslavia yesterday-" Click. The TV went dead. Milo stared at it with an expression blank as that on the face of the zombies who had been terrorising the nation only just recently. How strange, he thought to himself. Everyone clearly remembered the zombie apocalypse, but now... it was almost as though it had never happened. But now wasn't the time for conspiracy theories. Now was the time for hiding in bed, he thought, and headed off to do just that.

Morning dawned. It has a strange habit of doing that. Milo stirred in his bed. He was content for about five seconds, and then the realisation smacked him in the face. Today was the day that he was expected to manage a professional football team to victory and kick-start their miraculous escape from inevitable relegation. It was another five seconds before "well, crap" entered his mind. The next realisation was that he didn't even know what a professional football manager was even supposed to do on a matchday. He decided to play it safe and, after scarfing a breakfast, made the quick journey to the Alultorii - at least this meant he got in early, before anyone would be lingering around outside.

As it turns out, this was quite unnecessary - his early-morning trek wasn't that productive, because the players weren't in yet. He was happy to avoid any swarms of fans, to be fair - even though Lokani only ever attracted a few thousand, that was more than enough to cause quite a stir when the manager suddenly appeared amongst them, especially if it was a new, inexperienced manager. On reflection, the club probably had some sort of protocol to handle this, but still...

Later, Milo stood at the entrance to the tunnel for a while. A tiny handful of spectators were bracing themselves for a fair wait. The awestruck reverence that he had experienced, the first time he was in the tunnel, came back to him once more. This was his domain now, and he was going to make damn well sure he had the authority here. Lokani United was his team, and he wasn't going to let them fail.

Not long after, he was in the dressing room. He named the team - five changes from that which had limped so tamely to surrender against Olimpia. A chance for left-winger Loviku, centre-back Marizič and striker Malkon - players the fans had been crying out to see.

"The future of this club is in our hands," he spoke calmly to the chosen squad. "I am not going to let Lokani United die. Get out there and kill them!"

The following links is the story line of Taylor Mcawellmen. This began this World Cup qualifying (64)

Chapter 2: Believe
Part 1: Proving Grounds
Part 1A: The Boy Who Exploded Overnight

Part 2: There Are Always Firsts
Part 3: Crisis Occurs

Part 4: More Of the Same Result

Another tie. Taylor Mcawellmen stood on the pitch in disbelief. Of all the chances they got. the Powersith National Team couldn't finish the deal. teammates Patrick Monroe and Leonardo Martinex walked up to him.

"You alright Taylor?"
"No, Patrick, We tied again, like what the hell."
"I know, it can be tough, but don't take it to hard on yourself."
"I know Martinex, but we have to keep finishing our chances. We are still stuck in fourth, and going no where if we keep playing like this."
"I'll talk to everyone, meet you on the flight."

Taylor was in the airport waiting for the rest of the team to board the flight to Taeshan. His girlfriend was sitting next to him. There was a long silence between them as Taylor sat looking through the airport windows. She started the conversation.

"How are you?"
"Fine, but could be better. You know why."
"Still mad at the draw? Don't worry you'll win other games!"
"Yea, but will it be enough for us to qualify for the World Cup Proper?"
"Maybe, its in God's Plan what happens next."

The rest of the team arrived, so did Mcawellmen's family. After a reunification between Taylor and his family, whom he did not see for quite a while, the team boarded their flight to Taeshan. Taylor looked at the two captains, Leonardo Martinex and David de Phillips. Patrick Monroe was among them as well. They all knew they were 2-3-1 with 9 points, and in 4th place.

"The deciding match is here. Prepare yourselves, war is coming."

The flight took off.

Another Draw, Still In Fourth Place.

Powersith National Team drew with Karditan, 1-1. There were many chances, but both teams failed to capitalize.

The first half went lightning fast. Both teams kept trading the ball back and forth. No one would keep a firm hold for possession. However, Karditan would hold possession first, as Mario Cansetta would score in the 41st minute. At half, it would be 1-0.

Powersith would do what Karditan did in the first half. They controlled the ball for much of the half. However, they would score in the 81st minute as Leonardo Martinex would chip a pass over to Patrick Monroe would head it in. Score tied at 1-1. Karditan had a chance to win the game, but goalkeeper David de Phillips would block the shot to save the game.

Las Palabras de Libertad
Silar 1-1 Western Cuba

Javier Andino

This is team is seriously beginning to worry me, without Moreno the foundation has been slowly began to fall apart. The first three games this team looked to have the talents to play against teams like Polar Islandstates and easily Mytannion.

But without Moreno, this team looks like it can hardly contend with German American States. While Western Cuba may have great players, the chemistry of this team is severely lacking thanks to the fact that all these players have trained in separate academies throughout Western Cuba. Sure the forwards might be at an academy together, as along with the midfielders at a different one, but what's a team with only a solid midfield when you have no defense. What's a team with a good defense when you have a bad offense? In order to do well, this team has to play well altogether and to bond well.

Moreno is the reins of the team, and when he plays he holds them together well. When he is not playing, games like yesterday tend to happen. We should of easily dismantled Silar by at least three goals, but we know that did not happen. In fact it was a total outcome of luck that we happened to come out with the draw, a fatal mistake by the Silar defense only caused Mostovoi to slip through the Silar defenders and equalize the game with minutes to go.

Now Western Cuba is managing to barely hold onto second place in the group, and realistically we aren't that fair away from group leaders Apox as well. One win by Western Cuba and a lose by Apox brings Western Cuba to being tied for first place in the group. And with Western Cuba facing Apox in the next few match days, the opportunity to do so may be in reach.

And a glimpse of luck may be near for us as well, for it is looking that Moreno will be cleared to play in tonight's qualifier after leaving the Mytannion game early and missing the last two qualifiers. Facing Nethertopia, Western Cuba should have the clear advantage. But time will only tell, as if Moreno will be on the pitch tonight. The fate of us qualifying is no doubt in Moreno's hands.
Now known as the Technological State of Adros, the successor state of Western Cuba

"Remember when I said we would do Derridian deconstruction for my next RP?"

"No"

"Well I said it, do you want me to quote?"

"No not really, wait our conversations are recorded?"

"Yes. As a matter of fact we don't actually speak, it's all written down"

"But they are quotation marks, so we do speak"

"You know what, fine we speak"

"Exactly"

"Uch"

"Exactly"

"Anyway, remember how I promised the deconstruction thing?"

"Sure"

"So we're going to do it"

"Really"

"Yes"

"With what?"

"Archregimancy's latest note to the world on the success of their footballing team"

"Why them?"

"Because they're monks"

"And?"

"Monks have a clear metaphysical purpose with all they write"

"So?"

"Perfect opportunity. If not them then we could find some band song"

"Nah that would be awful"

"Exactly"

"So to the Monks!"

"Fine"

"So the beginning of the message"

"Yes"

Recently, our differences of opinion over the current World Cup qualification have been painfully laid bare for all the world to see. It is important this Lenten season that we set aside these differences for now in a spirit of mutual reconciliation. As the Second Letter to the Corinthians says, "All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation."

"Well clearly they are dealing with their own binary oppositions here because they want to do both well and poor at the same time. This has to do with the Orthodox conception of man as compared to God"

"So really when you look at it, it's about the opposition between mind and body"

"Yes the monks want both their bodies and minds to be strong but feel like in strengthening one they are weakening the other"

"Actually, I would say that it becomes clearer in their first subpoint"

1) In the wake of the Archregimancy's 4-0 victory over Jedi8246, we prayerfully acknowledge that God is not wholly averse to monastic footballing victory; "But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ".

"Yes they believe that in their strengthening of their souls to God they are weakening their bodies to play football but yet they believe that both can be done"

"Right, of course in their want to continue the mind/body split they are overlooking the essential fact that the mind/body split is fictitious."

"Correct, there is no reason why there is a separate mind that exists outside the body. Both exist simultaneously"

"Yes the mind is a physical thing that exists along side the body helping it out and giving it a logic to continue it in its tasks"

"Sure, however, the Monks do not want to believe in this materialist conception because that would deny God thus they maintain the split"

"בדיוק ככה"

"Of course there is a more important, fundamental, thing than the mind/body split which the Monks are really talking about"

"What is that?"

"How they believe knowledge came about"

"Explain"

"So the mind/body split is not just a metaphysical claim but an epistemological claim as well saying that all our knowledge only via the mind and that the body is incapable of knowledge. The body is not just extended mind, the metaphysical claim, but is also incapable of producing or harnessing knowledge. This is clearly an epistemological claim"

"Ok so what does that mean?"

"It means that they want to figure out whether knowledge objectively exists in the world or not because to the monks there is such a thing as universal truth or knowledge and the mind/body split is part of that. However, they recoil at the fact that they might be breaking the mind/body split so they step back from the full implication of their claim and thus recoil at what they could unearth"

"So then the Bible verses just come as a way to recoil from that claim and moreover, expand the universalism of the claim to include the most universal of all books, well to them"

"Yeah the Christian Testament is not exactly universal"

"Nope, it's quite particular"

"Actually, the second point explains this point quite clearly"

2) Nonetheless, this Lenten season it may not be wholly appropriate to fully promote the idea of monastic victory over other, non-Orthodox teams - instead the MFA shall seek to find a middle way of recognising the team's recent success in all due humility. "When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom."

"Here they are clearly wrestling with the two contradictory points they have just brought up"

"Right, so they try to create a dialectic to get out of it. I.e. 'We will be happy about our victories but do it in a respectful way, thus showing our humility'"

"Wait what's the dialectic?"

"The thesis is that we should be proud of our victories, the antithesis is that pride is a sin, and the synthesis is what I just said, to celebrate the victories with humility."

"Ok then"

"Yes so that way they can wrestle with and get over the mind/body claim they just made"

"Sure but can they really?"

"Oh no it totally breaks down but you knew that"

"Sure but I was asking for a reason"

"Well that's simple the mind cannot exist without the body. The assumption the Monks make is that the mind is superior to the body. Their immortal and, more importantly, immaterial soul is more important than their mortal and material body but that is wrong because the materiality of the body is necessary to deal with the mind"

"Right, Maslow baby! If one is busy dealing with food one cannot process the mysteries of the universe. Thus does our body need to be in order for the mind to function properly"

"First off, how dare you put awful disciplines like psychology in this discussion. Beyond that, that is only the beginning the whole opposition breaks down because it really is not about the mind/body split. It's about différance, which shows how they are both non-fundamental as they incomplete concepts that try to show a united view of the world which is impossible"

"Wow that was a quick and unwarranted jump"

"Meh, you know where it came from and I'm getting lazy. Also, I'm really bad at Derrida"

"Yeah why Derrida and not Heidegger?"

"He's easier to do in this setting"

"Ok then"

"But of course both of them rely on language to make their point"

"And language, obviously, is a metaphor because language only expresses things which are there in a representative way. It is a representation of real things that exist. So in that capacity the mind/body split is based upon things which do not actually exist but only metaphorically exist. And all metaphors have a blind-spot"

"Wait why do metaphors have a blind-spot?"

"Because all metaphors have some way in which they don't work. There is always a way in which the comparison between two different things breaks down and becomes untrue. Let's take the metaphor of the broken heart. Your physical heart still beats and works as a muscle, but metaphorically it is broken into pieces. If one believes the heart is the center of love then it works, however, we know that love is a process in the mind therefore negating the idea of a broken heart. Beyond that, even, is that you feel an existential hurt that goes beyond the 'broken heart.' The broken heart is just a metaphor so that others understand how you feel without explaining exactly how you are emotionally traumatized to other people"

"So language just acts as a metaphor for things which exist beyond the language but what does this have to do with this Archregimancy note?"

"Simple, the mind/body split that they are trying so hard to preserve is by it's very nature, false and unimportant. There is a more fundamental epistemological claim about truth that the monks miss and the fact that they try to articulate a dialectic through language also fails because of language's use as a metaphor"

"So doesn't our kritik also fail because we use language also?"

"Totally but we at least recognize our futility in the criticism which is better than believing in some inherent truth which is not there"

"Right but are we morally superior?"

"Not important, the important thing is in the recognition of existential, non-inherent, non-universal truth. Remember that the Church is scared of that. This was Benedict's thing as Pope"

"Wrong church"

"Not important, all Christians believe in a universal truth given through Jesus Christ, I deny that truth as universal through it's language and through it's assumptions which in this note they try to further but fail for the reasons given above"

"What does this have to do with Milchama?"

"I have no idea, we said we would do a Derridian deconstruction and we did so that was the goal"

"Just wanted to make sure"

"Yeah well they won last night"

"Over West Guinea which could have been tricky too"

"Yep it was a good win"

"Absolutely"

"Hopefully they can win tonight as well"

"They should, again the Warriors are the best team in the group"

"Random question: If language is a failed metaphor does that make all RPs, the whole World Cup, and most communication irrelevant?"

"Yes"

"That's scary"

"Yes"

"Oh well let's go root for Milchama"

"Ok"

"Come on You Warriors!"

"Let's Go Milchama!"

Injuries always the great unknown,
by Brittany Lawton

Every team attempting to qualify for the World Cup is hoping for one thing not to rear its ugly head. Injuries. Oh, you dirty, dirty word. Injuries can take a great team and make them look average, or even subpar. Case in point, World Baseball Classic 17. If you didn’t watch it, you don’t need to know anything about it in order to get my point. Cassadaigua was the defending World Baseball Classic champion, and they would win it again in #19. However, the WBC 17 roster was just so brutally devastated with injuries, that the #1 ranked team in the world (or maybe they were #2, anyway you get the point), failed to qualify out of its group. If you only follow the World Cup, let’s just say that qualifying for the playoffs in baseball is much, much easier, then qualifying for the World Cup, and if the #1 ranked team in the WBC didn’t make it because of injuries, then you know how big of a deal the was. Sometimes, injuries can create a new legend, yes, I get that. Go ahead and remind me about Ashley Barrett all you want, I was captain of that team, after all. Heather Wells, a good forward went down, and Ashley took the opportunity and ran with it like a fish lover on Fish Fingers and Custard Day, while others would have been content to just sit back and enjoy the lobster being served at the table.

So here we are, in that situation again. Our captain, Brittney Moser land awkwardly on her leg following a hard tackle from Gaveo’s Roberto Garcia Jr. There was nothing wrong with the tackle, Garcia is just doing his job, and it not his fault with how Brittney landed on her leg. In fact the yellow card he was given may have been a little harsh. Our trainers have looked at the injury and have diagnosed it as a torn MCL, meaning she will be out for the remainder of qualifying, and if we were to qualify, not likely to play in the World Cup itself. We stood around in shock as Brittney went off to the locker room in 56th minute. There was never any retaliation towards Garcia ordered, or to anyone else on Gaveo, per my orders as coach. We were down 3-1 at that point, and could not afford any cards or sending offs. I was happy with the way the team responded, fighting hard to get the two late goals to send us to a draw. Brianna Bouchard, who picked them both up, has been playing exceptionally well right now and seems to be very excited about new responsibilities. This won’t be easy.

Replacing the captain is not very easy. Sure, on paper I can declare that Bouchard is the new captain. I can name Chloe Szuma as a new starter in the midfield, and promote Josie Horrigan from the reserve group to being a substitute, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that Brittney has been replaced. I feel really bad for her that qualifying will end so early, because she worked really hard throughout the tryout period to finally get to play for Cassadaigua. We can only hope that this injury bug does not get contagious as we look to overcome yet another obstacle on our comeback.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelo Folks! It's Joey McDougall from filosport.flp!

Let's have a look at today's match against Lisander from Matchday Seven in the World Cup Qualifying. Here's the result:
Filopines 4-1 Lisander
22' Cayley, 49' Dibay, 66' Harodzic, 90' Martinez
15' Unknown

What happened:
In the 15th minute a Lisander midfielder crossed in the ball to the head of a Lisander forward that resulted in a goal. A tackle from a Lisander defender injured Luis Rodriguez and a free kick was given but no booking was made. The man who replaced Rodriguez, Stephen Cayley, the captain took the free kick from 30 yards and blasted it into the top right corner. By half time, the scores were level at one all. In the first four minutes of the second half, Bolbing passed the ball to Dibay who was just outside the box. Dibay skilled past three defenders and put it right in the bottom left corner. In the 66th minute, Paul Rhett from the corner, kicked it to Harodzic with two defenders on him, who head it into the net. In the 90th, Martinez came on as a sub and scored after a corner just after coming on. Luis Rodriguez is set to miss one match.

Kate: That's normally the kind of joke Luis would make.
Mark: Well, he's not here. Someone's got to fill the void. And he's still hurt from that match against Lisander.
Kate: What did he injure anyway?
Mark: His hamstring.
Kate: Oh, at least your fine, honey. (Mark and Kate kiss) Wait a minute, your lips feel weird. Did you get plastic surgery?

Pride
"You did well, lads and lasses," said Gethin, cheerfully. The squad, on the whole, didn't feel like they'd done well. It was clear they hadn't been playing on their best form, and they went down to an early goal. They'd very raggedly and dirtily pulled themselves back together, battered the Basques off the ball and Gerd Thunder and substitute Bruce Payne had managed a couple of scrappy, brutal goals.
"Guv," said Lucia, bluntly. "We were shit." Lucia was, in fact, the only player to have a legitimately good game, but nonetheless the holding midfielder felt somewhat responsible for the shambles that occurred. Gethin shrugged.
"Well, sure. Woke up collectively on the wrong sides of the bed, I'd say. But you know what lesson we can take home from this?"
"What's that, guv?"
"Last match we took an early lead and let it slip. This match, we reversed the situation, though pulled out the win differently. We did what Sicoutamont did, though, in our own way; they played to their techniques of speed and technique, and today we used our brute strength to pressure them into giving up the lead. It's important to know that, on a bad day, we can still come back in a scrappy game and claw something back from it. And that, my friends, is what I want you to think of. We're practically out of the running for second by now, I think we all saw that coming... but there's a Cup of Harmony still to come, and the winners of the Baptism tend to qualify for that. We just need to keep persevering, aye?" He patted Kurtis' shoulder as he left the room. "Good game, lads."
The entire dressing room was stunned. "Did he just compliment us for playing badly and getting an undeserved result?" said Anna, slowly.
Portia just shrugged. "Gethin giveth, and Gethin taketh away."

Constructive Criticism
"So, Gethin, it's good to see you're ready to take this radio interview for Triple 8," said the radio jock. Gethin, knowing he was invisible to the public, waved him on impatiently. Get on with it. "Because, uh," the radio guy paled a little, "you've been receiving some, uh... you've had some critics on the airwaves! Recently. Uh. And we thought you'd appreciate the chance to answer them..."
Gethin leaned back in the chair. "Aye."
"So!" The spur of the moment gave the radio guy some extra momentum. "Your first caller; James from Treason!"
"A'ight Rob, a'ight Gethin," came a languid Laithlander drawl. Gethin clenched a fist. Talking to people from the Laith, like Tara and Dacia, was like having teeth pulled. Grit had been from the Laith. Fuck Grit. "I was just wondering of what were your thoughts on the scrappy play that lead to the equaliser."
"It was good play," said the manager, staunchly. "We got a stretch of possession, good cross from Chase to get into Gerd, who won the ball and smashed it in. 1-1. What's your problem?"
"I just think more flair could've been achieved had you kept on Grant Beardsley," said James from Treason, dully. "Grant Beardsley's been an inspiration t' your team since the start. Grant Beardsley scored against Nenets-"
"Grant Beardsley's a left-footed right winger. We needed a right-footed right winger," snapped Gethin. "We got a result. Next caller."
"This is, uh, Carrie from Chenoworth."
"Hi, Rob? Uh, Gethin, I'd just like to ask if you were ever going to consider coming back to manage the Rovers?"
"Not in my immediate future," said Gethin, sighing inwardly. He'd been a legend at Rovers, now struggling with relegation, and every so often you got a desperate question/plea for him to return 'home'. "I see myself managing the national team for a few more years yet."
"Okay, thanks Gethin." Carrie sounded on the verge of tears.
Rob nodded. "And, uh... what about Henry from Rochford? Hello, Henry!"
A breathless-sounding man panted "So... Gethin... what about, uh, what about when Lucia took off her shirt to celebrate that goa-"
Rob's face turned white as he switched off the caller and quietly announced an ad break. Gethin just leaned back in his chair, smirking. "I love these interviews. Don't you, mate?"
"You shut your mouth," said Rob, shivering. Gethin's only answer was a quiet, satisfied chuckle.

Alexanderburn 0-4 Liventia

Alexanderburn dealt thrashing at home, fans call for Kingsley to step down

It looks like there is no one in the audience. The stadium is dark, the reporters are gone, the arena's temperature is unregulated, and still the Liventians are toiling on. This is quite a shocker!

No one expected anything like the match that was just played at Greenwich - Roaton earlier tonight. The ANFT was greeted with no audience, no lights, no water, no reporters, no climate control, and no sense of management. The nation, which has suffered dramatically after the "zombie apocalypse" scare, decided not to show its faces at tonight's match, leaving an empty arena for twenty-two players to take to the field at demonstrate some sort of football skill.

Unfortunately, that skill never showed up tonight. Though many were truthfully not expecting Alexanderburn to win the game against Liventia, almost no one could have predicted that the team would have been dealt such a bad card - especially at home! This four goal defeat has left the nation in a state of confusion, anger, and sorrow, and many Alexanderburnese are voicing their opinions in opposition to the current management.

"del Bensolix, Kingsley, all of those fat cats need to step down now!" dictated Hans-Georg Mullenhefer, a fanclub member of the Laim football club. "Matthiassen can stay though, I see some potential in him. But the rest of the executives are too young, too untalented, too ill-prepared, and too d--n unable to lead our team to victory anymore. Everything has gone downhill since the World Cup 60, and I personally believe that Calciorotti's strategies were just starting to take effect. In my opinion, Kingsley was just taking advantage of chances that had already been implemented and simply took the credit for himself. Well now, he needs to take the blame!" Prominent figures throughout the nation such as celebrities, CEOs, and even His Majesty have even voiced similar opinions on the matter.

"Normally, William [Kingsley] is on top of his game on nights such as these," noted HM King Alexander Maximilian I. "But tonight, he messed up. We messed up. Everyone seemed to mess up in one way or another, but ultimately he needs to take and claim a share of the blame as well."

The match featured four goals - scored in the 17', 23', 73', and 90+1' minute - and displayed the crumbling defense of the ANFT. Rumors among television networks have already spread that the defense trainers will be stepping down with replacement to be announced soon by coach Kingsley, but reports have not yet been confirmed. Others are claiming that Kingsley himself is considering stepping down - either sometime soon or after the end of this World Cup, come whatever.

Tonight's match will be played at Namibe United Stadium in West Angola. Here is the expected line-up:

STARTING LINE-UP (Alexanderburn @ West Angola)

-------------------- Cremonesi ---- Massie -------------------
------ Frederiksen -------- Schroeder -------- Austerlitz ------
-------------------- Holierhoek --------- Collett -------------------

--------- Doyle ------- Rittenhouse ------- Hooper ---------
----------------------------- Nordaglio ------------------------------

Modification: -1.5

Good luck Alexanderburn!

Saintland 1, Queer Poco el Mono Ara 0

(SP) The Sanctii arrived in Queer Poco el Mono Ara seeking another victory. However, this match would be played in the middle of a heavy rain, making it difficult for either team to get any traction. It looked like the Sanctii would have to settle for a 0-0 draw, but a goal by Silvester Flaccus in added time gave the Sanctii the much-needed 3 points and kept our Kingdom's hopes of making it to the World Cup alive. "That rain was horrible today. I've never played in anything like it. Neither team could retain possession for much of that match. The ball just wouldn't do what we expected it to do. It just seemed to move around at random. When [Prince] Andreas passed me that ball late in the match, I knew this was the one chance we had to get that goal, so I gave it a good kick. It wasn't a very good shot, but fortunately their keeper slipped and it ended up in the back of the net."

This was a farce of a match. In the 2nd minute, Prince Andreas tried to run with the ball and score a goal himself. When he tried to take the shot, his shot was very wild. It went sailing straight into the stands and the match was delayed while the referee tried to find a new ball. This set the tone for the day.

The television viewers saw an ugly game of soccer that looked nothing like the kind of game played at the international level. At one point, Paulus Flaccus attempted a pass to a wide open Prince Andreas and ended up passing to a player from Queer Poco el Mono Ara. The Queer Poco el Mono Ara player attempted to pass to a striker from his side, but the pass ended up going to Nicolaus Poenius. Poenius would attempt a long pass to Prince Andreas, but the long pass ended up hitting the back of Petrus Mamilius. At halftime, the Kingdom of Saintland was tied with Queer Poco el Mono Ara at nil to nil.

Following halftime, the rain let up slightly and both teams somewhat figured out how to play under the conditions. In the 49th minute, Queer Poco el Mono Ara somehow got the ball to one of their strikers inside of the box and they attempted a shot. This shot was slightly off target and would hit the post. They got a 2nd shot off the rebound and it was a poor shot that Alessandro Seius would save 99.9% of the time. However, it slipped out of his wet hands and on top of the goal for a corner. Somehow, Queer Poco el Mono Ara got a decent corner off and it would be headed away to safety by Georgius Catiotus.

This trend would continue. In the 61st minute, Lucas Aufidius sent a long pass in the direction of Stephanus Vagionius. Vagionius found the pass and jogged toward the goal, making sure not to slip. Vagionius took a shot at the goal, which would be blocked by a Queer Poco el Mono Ara defender and sent out for a corner. Prince Andreas came up to take the corner. As the ball approached, a number of players leaped to try to head it in. Ioannes Poenius was the one that actually found the ball, but he headed it into the bar. It bounced off and a Queer Poco el Mono Ara defender kicked it away to safety, but out for a throw-in around midfield.

In the 65th minute, Prince Andreas decided to replace Mamilius with Paulus Gabinius. In the 68th minute, a Prince Andreas pass would find Gabinius. He faked a shot. The keeper bought it and he passed to Vagionius. However, the pass was wild and it made its way to a defender instead of Gabinius. The score remained nil to nil.

Although both teams had multiple scoring opportunities in the next 20 minutes, none of them resulted in a single shot on goal. Shot after shot missed. As the referee signaled for 4 minutes of added time, the Sanctii knew that their chances of getting 3 points out of this match were fading. After Alessandro Seius saved a horrible long shot from a Queer Poco el Mono Ara midfielder, the Sanctii went on the counter-attack. Seius tossed the ball out to Matthaeus Belaeus. Belaeus hit a long pass in the direction of Prince Andreas. The Prince found it.

As Prince Andreas moved down the field, having caught Queer Poco el Mono Ara off-guard with the counter-attack, Silvester Flaccus moved into the box. Prince Andreas sent a perfect pass in the direction of Flaccus and Silvester took his best shot at the goal. It was not a very good shot, but the keeper slipped and fell as he attempted to stop it and the ball sailed into the back of the net. The Kingdom of Saintland had taken the lead in added time. "When I saw Silvester [Flaccus] open in the box, I just knew that he would score the goal that won this match for us. I sent that pass his way and he put it in the back of the net. Although Paulus [Flaccus] and even his little brother Josephus [Flaccus] had scored international goals before him, I know Silvester is happy about his first international goal being such a critical one. When you are on the pitch, you have to trust your gut because that is how God tells you His plan. I put my trust in God and we now leave Queer Poco el Mono Ara with 3 points." - Prince Andreas

The victory puts the Sanctii into 5th place with 12 points. Zwangzug was defeated by Krytenia today, which allowed our Kingdom to leap past Zwangzug in the table. Krytenia remain the leaders at 18 points. Kinitaria remains in 2nd at 17 points. Audioslavia is now tied with Soviet Canuckistan at 14 points after Backyard Sports pulled off an unexpected 4-4 draw at Soviet Canuckistan. Indeed, the Sanctii will travel to Backyard Sports next to face the team currently ranked 7th in Group 2. This will be a critical match for the Sanctii. It will be broadcast live on Royal One.

First Election Debate: Communists Drop Heavy In Polls

Last evening, Sicoutimont's 3 major party leaders met for a debate in Lac-Drouin. We've talked about the debate multiple times, but here's the topic again in case you missed it: 'Regional and International Relations, Economically and Militarily'. So, what went down? Here's a transcript of the key questions, of which there were 3, plus an open question period from viewers.

Legend: M-Monitor, Coaches-C, Roberval-R, Brebeur-B

M: "Welcome all to the first Debate of Election season. The election is June 25, and this is the first of 3 debates in the campaign. Our first question comes on the subject of international trade. Would, and should, the government build more factories to create more goods and lure in more international companies to base some labour in Sicoutimont?"

C: "Well, answering the first part, I think the government has been clear it would be open to building factories if it was necessary. However, our agriculture industry is very strong, and with lots of factories in our heartland, we are set for the future. On the second part, I'm not sure if I understand, do you mean build more factories to lure in companies, or some other way of luring in these companies?"

M: "Both, Mr. Coaches,"

C: "Our government is dedicated to Sicoutinizing the work force, and will work to provide labour at a fair cost to our labourers."

R: "Our government would be willing to build factories if it meant more jobs for Sicoutians at these factories, and that these factories would produce goods to trace with other nations. For the second part of the question, we would be willing to work with foreign companies as long as the labour provided would be for Sicoutians."

B: "The government of Sicoutimont under Communist Party rule would have a key relationship with its factories and farmers, who provide a large part of our economy. Sicoutimont would not require foreign investments, as we believe we have a great economy that would be strengthened by the New Governments."

C: "Mr. Roberval, are you willing to take an increase in minimum wage to provide these companies with cheap labour to come here?"

R: "The Labour Party of Sicoutimont would not take a major cut in minimum wage to do this."

M: "Any other questions? I guess not. The second question is on the topic of Regional Security. The next 2 questions, including this, will be on the topic of Regional Security, before we go to question period. So here's the question: The Valladar Westlands, with a border on Sicoutimont's north, close to the capital, are a large matter of debate between Valladares and Darmen. So, should Sicoutimont, with the aforementioned border, step into this, militarily if a conflict should break out?"

C: "No. It's that simple. The Westlands dispute is between Valladares and Darmen. Does it affect Sicoutimont? Yes, and we will do our best to prevent conflict here. Sicoutimont respects Valladares claims to the Westlands, but does not believe military conflict is required in this region of Rushmore,"

R: "That depends. As Mr. Coaches said, the Westlands is between Darmen and Valladares. However, if a country, Darmen or any other, should invade and capture that country, that nation would obviously have the military capability to capture a territory, and this should not be ignored; and this could be considered a threat to national security. As Sicoutimont respects the Valladar claim to the land, military support would only be sent if it was needed or requested."

C: "I apologize, Mr. Brebeur, but I must interject: are you saying, Mr. Roberval, that if a foreign government asks you to help them, you would devote our armed forces to a conflict that, with the state of the world's technology, could kill hundreds of thousand of Sicoutians on foreign soil? And also, with Sicoutimont and Darmen having relations at the national level, why do you feel it necessary to disrespect and say you would attack this nation in a war on national television? Does this seem right to you?"

R: "Mr. Coaches, I am not saying I would want to attack Darmen. We would work for peace first in the region, but if it came to the moment of truth, and our assist was needed, I am simply saying that Sicoutimont's Armed Forces would be their for Valladares, or any country in this situation, if it was needed,"

B: "If you don't mind, Mr. Coaches and Mr. Roberval, I'll get my opinion in here now. We believe that this matter is strictly between Darmen and Valladares, and would not pledge allegiance to either side."

C: "Mr. Roberval, you say 'any country in this situation,' you make it seem like there is a situation here. It is a territorial dispute, and that is all. If it goes any higher, we have plans drawn up for a response. It is not likely to get any higher, and I personally would be interested in solving this matter without armed conflict."

M: "I'm going to call this question, and start a new one: With the current Civil Conflict in Mytannion, what would your governments response be?"

C: "Well, that matter is between the Mytanar government and their people, but we would do our best to protect Sicoutian citizens in Mytannion if the conflict escalates higher than it is."

R: "As Mr. Coaches has already said, the Mytanar government and its people must settle this between themselves. We would protect the rights and interests of Sicoutians in Mytannion if this conflict escalates. I'm not sure if you were expecting any other answer, and I'm not sure if their is one."

B: "The Communist Party of Sicoutimont would pledge economic aid to the government of Mytannion, and nothing more. We would protect Sicoutian citizens in that country, and I agree with Mr. Roberval that there may not be another answer to this question,"

M: "Well, it's questions from our viewers time! We've got two more questions, each of them on this subject. So, here's the first one: From Anna Logan, of Lac-Drouin: 'What will your government do about the oil discovery in eastern Branta Rushmore?'"

C: "Well, that's between the nations that have made a claim to it; which Sicoutimont has not. Therefore, Sicoutimont would not step into any dispute or conflict,"

R: "Agreed with Mr. Coaches, that dispute is between those nations that lay a claim to that land, which Sicoutimont does not,"

B: "That is beyond the domain of Sicoutimont and Communist Party territory, and therefore is not a viable thing for Sicoutimont to step into without looking like a warmonger,"

M: "Final question of the night, from Tyler Enmar of Lucasville: "Will your nation import oil from abroad, or will it take the oil from the Southern Provinces for gas and other resources?"

C: "Our government has a plan to extract the oil in the Southern Provinces, which could be used to fuel and for other resources."

R: "Our government would use the oil from Sicoutimont's South, as detailed in our party platform. However, we would also trade with other nations for oil from abroad,"

B: "Our government would use only the oil from Sicoutimont's South, using it for the resources of our nation,"

C: "So, Mr. Roberval, are you an oil collector? You seem to be wanting all different oil, from all different nations, while we could get our own oil, from a much lower cost, while providing jobs at the same time,"

R: "Mr. Coaches, this trade would also be an opportunity to strengthen our relations with our neighbours and other nations, in Rushmore and the world,"

M: I'll end the debate here, thanks to all for tuning in and listening to the debate, and thanks to Mr. Coaches, Roberval and Brebeur for showing up for the debate. The next debate will be 2 weeks from now in St-Simeon, on the subject of Sicoutian Affairs: for example unemployment, healthcare, sports, recreation, and other important topics,"

Latest polls are in, from 3 different research centres, including our own. So, here's the results:

Who are you most likely to vote for June 25?
Social Democratic Union-47%
Labour Party of Sicoutimont-45%
Communist Party of Sicoutimont-6%
Other-2%

Two agencies also asked who won the debate. Here are those results:

Who was the 'winner' of the most recent election debate?
Niles Coaches-75%
Charles-Jean Roberval-22%
Louis Brebeur-3%

The Lac-Drouin Times believes that Coaches won the debate, attacking Mr. Roberval often and truthfully while also getting his point across. We also believe that Louis Brebeur lost the debate, because even though Mr. Roberval took some heat, the two other leaders pretty much ignored him the whole night, and Brebeur was limited to speaking in simple, short sentences. We'll catch you up next week with the next week in campaigning, and tell you how the odds stand 1 month before the election. Now, we have not talked about a possible major factor: coalition. If a party such as the Greens, Conservatives, or maybe even the Communists can win 5-10 seats, and a party like Labour or SDU win a minority by 5-10 seats, than the other party plus 1 or more minor party could make a coalition to take the government. Anyway, we'll update you next week, so keep on reading for election updates!

Sicoutians Draw with Jeruselem
In Pierre Beach, it was the first game in Stade Pierre-Beach, Sicoutimont took on the second highest ranked team in the group, Jeruselem. The game did not start well for Les Royales, going down 2-1 after the first half. Girard Giroux opened the scoring in the 17th minute, but Jeruselem struck back very close after: Hayley Hills scored in the 20th minute, making it 1-1. Cassie Bitzer hit the post twice in the 24th minute, before scoring in the 31st. The first half ended with Sicoutimont trailing, and Jeruselem would put them deeper in a hole, with Park Jae Sang scoring in the 49th minute to go up 3-1. But Les Royales would come back: Alex Gannot scored in the 57th, making it 3-2, and Georges Allonts scored from a Giroux assist in the 69th minute. That would be the last scoring, and neither team could manage a shot in the last 21 minutes of full time, and 2 minutes added on. Here's the box score, courtesy of http://www.footybets.scm!

Tune in again as Sicoutimont take on Northern Sunrise Islands in that nation next week. That'll be the last away game of the first half before we play Kinzar at home on June 12, before the two-week break that brings us back to qualifying June 26, against Rikatan at home. Gaveo ties 3-3 against Cassadaigua at Cassadaigua, this is considered a upset despite the high placing Gaveo is in right now. Here is how the game started, in the 11th minute Cassadaigua's Brittney Moser scored first giving the much favored Cassadaiguans the lead, 1-0. 9 minutes later Gaveo strikes back with a goal from Une Yabro, 1-1. 10 minutes later Gaveo takes the lead with a goal from Santiago Rojas, 2-1 Gaveo. In the 41st minute Cesar Milano scores a beautiful goal and increases the Gaveoan lead 3-1. Just before halftime Roberto Garcia Jr. fouls Cassadaiguan captain, Brittney Moser, injuring her and putting her out for the whole WC Qualifiers. Garcia Jr. received a yellow card despite the calls on both sides saying it was a accident rather than a out right attack on Moser. 3-1 Gaveo. In the 50th minute Gaveo's 2 goal lead is reduced to 1 when Danielle Leonard scores from a corner kick. Finally much to the surprise of the Gaveoan side Cassadaigua ties the match in the 77th minute with a goal from Brianna Bouchard, 3-3. Gaveo tried to recapture the lead with attempts from Sebastian Cadiz, Santiago Rojas and even when Joaquim Cadiz came in and made a shot. It seemed like Lauren Kearn, goalie for the Cassadaiguan National team, block all Gaveoan shots near the end of the match. When the final whistle blew a confident Gaveoan team tied 3-3 to Cassadaigua. We face Polar Islandstates a team we were going to face first but instead faced Leorudo. PIS beat Catholican Catholica 2-1 in a tight game at their home. We play them here in Estadio Cadiz and we encourage all fans of Gaveo to swarm into the next match and root for the boys. And as always go Gaveo!

Sebastian was frustrated along with half of the Gaveoan team, they had the lead by halftime yet they lost it, was it overconfidence? Was it just playing laziness? Either way Gaveo lost three points and went down to third place in the rankings. Some players and the coach said that Sebastian and the others should be grateful that we tied against a talented team. But that near win that almost gave Gaveo 3 points. Still Sebastian should have been happy with a tie, but now they face the Polar Islandstates, a team while nearly tying against Catholican Catholica, was a dangerous oppentent. Luckily for them they face PIS at home but doesn't exclude the fact that this team, was a hellava lot better than the Gaveoan side. Could they pull the most unlikely upset against a elite team? If they did Gaveo would be at least in second place if Qazox wins or ties. But all that stuff doesn't matter anymore until the ball rolls in the pitch...
