Head Coach

He's been playing for various teams in West Guiana's National Soccer Association, won the NSA Cup twice while with FC United, why yes his name is Don Hummel. He was hired as West Guiana's national Soccer Team heacd coach just two weeks ago. The WGSA (West Guiana Soccer Administration) figured the next head coach should be some one whos been with the team and they had only one canidate.

While Hummel is the head coach he's also a player, though he as notified the team and fans that AOCAF 39 will be his last tournament at lest as a player.

Located right along the banks of the St. Johns River in downtown Gemsbrook, it is home to the domestic soccer club Gemsbrook FC of the National Soccer Association. It was built in 2008 and has a capacity of 27,800, expandable to 33,000. Traffic is harsh mainly during rush hour however after the installment of exit 197 off I-22 getting to the stadium has become much easier.

Fresh from Xiangzhou Sapphire's field, the assistant coach looks promising according to the critics and Xíangjí Hatema. He started his career as coach with a local team and fought his way up to the major domestic league of Kandorith. He has shown to be calm and understanding, making him the perfect candidate as assistant coach for the national team.

Another young gun from Jiexie, he is the captain of the defence; always aware of situations and quick to step in towards any incoming attack. He is known for his robust but fair tackles; never taking his eye off the ball.

Known for his quick tackles and saving headers; this agile defender is a tough one to run away from. He only has one goal: regaining possession and passing the ball around as quick as possible.

Mitsuharu Eri
Age: 23
Length: 176CM
Mitsuharu, a true defender. He is the man for the pass and the crosses, the tactical link between and in-between the midfield. He is a great supportive player and a quick runner, with an eye for quick passes or crosses trough the midfield.

Miraki Nakamura
Age: 22
Length: 190CM
Miraki Nakamura, the "star" defender of Xianghzou Sapphires. With his length, sturdiness and great heading abilities he is sure to give strikers who are receiving the ball or are trying to make a run for it a hard time. Even though he is quite sturdy; Miraki does not lack in speed at all, being an agile and fast player.

JieJie
Age: 25
Length: 177CM
Passer, runner and assists; JieJie, another star from Nagato Goya. He has made his debute 3 years ago and has shown many coaches he is the man for the midfield passing and chance creating. With tactical insight and almost unmatchable running speed he is the winger and the attacking midfielder.

Taiji Moto
Age: 26
Length: 181CM
The Captain, El Commandante, and the elder; Taiji Moto the captain of the Kandorese National Team and the Captain of Nagato Goya. Experienced, ferocious and quick. He plays mostly defensive but when he sees a goal scoring opportunity or the chance for an assist he won't hold back. He is one of the links of the chain,to keep that ball passing and keep possession, while steering the team towards a goal.

Ximin Chosi
Age: 22
Length: 177CM
Ximin, an ambitious young player from Yingshua Sabers, one of the lesser known teams of the Kandorese Imperial League; but equally dangerous as the bigger names, mostly because of this player. He is an excellent runner, passer and crosser; always looking for a hole in the defence to press the ball towards the striker, he does not often score; but when he does, it's a ranged effort with extreme finesse.

Atasuki Eguchi
Age: 24
Length: 177CM
The true winger of the team, always scanning the sideline; waiting for that pass to push it forward and create a goal chance. He is a fast and agile runner with great crossing ability. His most notable love of the game, is giving defenders a hard time by running and crossing when they least expect it.

The "support" striker. Iichi is the main assist and header in front of goal; his headers are precise, fast and dangerous; just like this man when he has the ball in front of goal. He does not aim for the goal, he is the main passer when the 6 yard box gets hot. A real dribbler and trick passer, leaving the scoring to his fellow strikers or attacking midfielder.

Méng Zeijí
Age: 21
Length: 181CM
The current star of Kandorese football. This youngster has made his name as goal cannon, never passing the oppertunity to score and when he does see the chance; the ball flies in like a guided projectile. Also agile and a real dribbler, he loves to run circles around the defence and rocket the ball into a tight corner. Méng is accurate, calm and controlled, which made him the current top scorer of the Kandorese league.

Barunia national soccer team, aka The Suns
Following the success of the team in the Baptism of Fire, the BFA have announced that Stephen WIggens will remain as coach for the World Cup Campaign. With an almost unchanged squad, Wiggens has made some changes to the starting line up as he looks to take Barunia further in international sport.

OOC: My usual starting line-up is listed below. I do like to mix things up though, so please check my most recent RP for the latest information. The names in capitals are the player's names as they appear on their shirts. These are the names they use. When writing my players names, please use a single capital for their name, like you would in normal spelling.

#9 Victor CASTOLO
Without a doubt the greatest footballer Barunia has ever produced, Victor Castolo is an all-round goal scorer. Whenever he gets hold of the ball, cries of "Castolo, Castolo!" echo around the stadium. Leading goal scorer for the Suns in the Baptism of Fire, Castolo also holds several league records. A definite for the national team, the hopes of Barunia have been pinned on his shoulders.

#21 Fabrice SAGORO
A young talent, 19 year-old Fabrice Sagoro was tipped early as a potential superstar of the game. Scouted by the Tildos Ravens when he was in the under-twelve league, Sagoro has been an integral part of their attack since joining the side two years ago. A left footer, he is known for his ability to score from range, especially free kicks.

#14 Pablo ZOKORA
Pablo Zokora was always going to be in the national side. The leading goal scorer of the Tridents, Zokora is the classic finisher. He won't set up big moves or assists, but put him in front of goal with the ball and lots of space, and he will get the ball to the back of the net.

Midfielders
#11 Harry CENTENA
Winner of the BFL's "best and fairest" two years running, Centena has a reputation as one of the gentlemen of the league. He is co-captain of the Tildos Ravens and has been described by their coach as the "kingpin" that holds the team together. He will be the kingpin also for the national side, providing the vital passing link between the defenders and the attackers.

#26 Cedric ST. JOHN
One of the few players on the national side to play professionally outside of Barunia, Cedric St. John brings some much needed flair to the midfield. A flamboyant player, he has been called "dynamic" and "explosive", and has a tendency to be wherever the action is. With his trade mark long hair and headband, he can always be spotted on the field moving from one end to the other, as he is a player who attacks when the ball is forward and defends when it is back.

#27 Horatio MONTOYA
Another international, Montoya was always going to be in the national team. A fan favourite when he played for the Orcas, Montoya is well-known for his ability to head the ball, and will always be in the box during a set play. He often plays in the centre of the midfield, and as such is a vital link in the progression of the ball from defence to the forwards. Montoya favours a lobbed pass , and will attempt to play forwards into scoring positions by passing the ball over the defenders' heads.

#23 BHARA
Raised on Coral Island, a tiny speck of land at the far end of Tildos, Bhara hadn't seen a game of football until he was eighteen, when a friend invited him to a sports day programme on Trinity. Spotted as a natural talent by the National Sports Authority, he was offered a position on the local university team, where he developed his skills. Since then he has received offers from every BFL club, but has stayed loyal to the Tildos Ravens. Bhara has good all-round skills, and plays as a defensive midfielder. As the first line of defence against goals, he is not afraid to challenge for the ball.

Defenders
#3 Joric RUSKIN Captain
Many people were surprised when Ruskin was named captain over Castolo, but he is not without experience, having led the Marion Hawks for five seasons. Ruskin is a solid player and a conservative and cautious defender. He prefers to shut down a pass then attack a player directly, and very rarely will attack goals.

#22Julian MILLET
The tallest player on the team, Millet has a commanding presence in defence. He tends to hang right back in defence, within the goal square, and use his whole body to defend the goal. His height and heading ability makes him a good man to have when facing an opposing free kick or corner, and he has proved invaluable for the Western Orcas in these situations.

#8 Lucio DAVID
Lucio David is a surprise entry into the national side, having only played at amateur level until nine months ago, when he ran on to the field for the Hawks. An aggressive player, he likes to attack the ball and has the ability to score goals, as proved by the two he claimed for the Hawks in the BFL. A tenacious and fierce tackler, David sometimes goes too hard and gets himself in to trouble, especially as he has a habit of showing his displeasure with a referee's decision.

Goalkeeper
#10 Michelangelo WILLANS
An international, Willans brings high-level experience to the national team. Willans is an instinctive player, positioning himself and picking his rushes with excellent precision.

Substitutes - Note this lists only four out of five positions. Fifth position is open for any reserve player.

#29 PACIFIQUE Tsebo - Defender
Tsebo grew up in an impoverished foreign country, and he and his friends favourite pastime was to kick a football around. Born with an eye condition, his eyesight deteriorated until he was almost totally blind at the age of twelve. When he was fifteen, a Barunian charity arranged to bring Pacifique and his mother over to Barunia for surgery to restore his sight. Since then, they have stayed in the country, and Pacifique played football first for his school, and then for the Orcas U-16 squad. He then joined the Orcas, before signing on to the Tridents, where he currently is. His style has been described as precise, and he is an excellent interceptor and passer of the ball. He will be the team's "Fourth defender", being called in whenever defensive play is called for.

#5 Timothy FEATHERSTONE - Centre Forward
Timothy Featherstone has made a big impression since moving from Porthaven to the Tildos Ravens. A smart player, the centre-forward is always looking to play a teammate into a shooting position with a well-timed pass. His shooting record itself is not that great, but he can find the target when it counts.

#4 Tommy CLINTON - Defender
16 year old Tommy Clinton is the youngest player on the team. He came to Barunia two years ago to play for Porthaven United U-15 team, and has been signed to play for the senior club from next year. Clinton is an eager defender, but plays smartly and won't usually foul.

#20 Gregory PLANT - Centre Attacking Midfielder
Gregory Plant played two seasons for Tridents and one for Porthaven United, where he impressed selectors for the national team. Plant may be characterised as an aggressive player, whenever his team is out of possession he will fight hard to win back the ball. When he does get the ball, he has good control, and will often go on long runs before passing off to one of the forwards. He plays very forward, and will rarely stray far behind the half way line.

Reserves
#15 Andre LOPEZ - Defender
The Sea Lions captain, Lopez has been a stalwart of Barunian football for years. His inclusion into the national team caused some controversy, with many feeling that he was out of form after the Sea Lions finished the season last. However, he is here, and Andre has stated that he is ready to prove his critics wrong.

#18 Eoin MACFAYDEN - Forward
Eoin Macfayden has been a stalwart of Porthaven United for many years, although often overshadowed by Castolo. As such, he often plays as an assistant rather than a shooter, and will often head out to the wings looking to cross the ball in.

#12 Georgio BEZANA - Attacking Midfielder
When Bezana was named as part of the national squad, many people had never heard of him. He has never played a professional game in Barunia, having left the country when he was 8. However, Bezana has had success overseas in international teams, and it was his international record, as well as his Barunian citizenship, that won him a berth in the international side. He is rather a conservative player, and is not aggressive. He tends to play out on the wings more than other players in the team.

#7 Aron SCHWARZ - Attacking Midfielder
A player from the Western Orcas, Schwarz is one of the older and more experienced players on the national team. Schwarz has no particular skill he excels at; rather he is a player with a well-rounded set of skills. He is seen as a good solid choice for the national squad.

#30 Arthur WOOD - Defensive MidfielderOne of the few players to come into the World Cup squad who didn't play the Baptism of Fire, Wood was included to help cover the vital role of the defensive midfield. The role is one he has experience in, having played in that position for three years with Porthaven United.

#1 Tobias FORREST - Goalkeeper
Goalkeeper for the Tridents, Forrest made it into the national squad on the strength of last season's performance, when he let in a mere fifteen goals. Forrest is a very defensive goalkeeper, and will usually stay in the goalmouth rather than attempt to rush an oncoming player. The Sun's back-up goalkeeper, he is seen as being just as capable as Willans, and may play in important games to let WIllans have a break.

#25 Sam GARCIA - Goalkeeper
The usual goalkeeper for the San Baptiste Sea Lions, Garcia is a surprise inclusion into the team. The Sea Lions came last for the season, but thanks to Garcia, they still managed the second best "goals against" score that season, and Garcia found himself called up to the national squad as third goalkeeper.

This is Western Barunia's premier sporting complex, and the only fully domed stadium in the country. Designed specifically around a square field, the stands are built close to the pitch to make fans feel as if they are part of the action. For this reason, the atmosphere inside Blackrock is often described as intimate, despite the place being shared with 70,000 others!

Due to internal conflict, the above stadiums are not available. Instead games will be played at Northport.

With the Terns stagnating and fresh blood needed, manager Joachim Schwartz offered his resignation in good faith and saw it accepted by the FPIFA. They agreed that time had drawn to a close on the Schwartz era, and as the WCC Presidency moves to the nation, the next chapter must begin. Former FC Axel Heiburg boss Morten Rasmussen takes over at the helm of the Terns at the start of this World Cup qualifying cycle having finished things off nicely at the Argonauts last season, winning Divisjon One for the third time. It was taking the Axel Heiburg Argonauts from Divisjon Two to three time Divisjon One champions that first attracted the FPIFA to Rasmussen, and his winning mentality is something they will hope he has dragged across with him. With a keen eye for developing young talent and playing attractive football, it is thought that Rasmussen will have no intentions to fiddle around unduly with the Pythagorean formation left behind by Schwartz and van der Riise, choosing instead to build upon the foundations left by his peers and just add his own youthful touches to a side that remains in the hunt for another semi-final berth, let alone a title. Qualification will be the first aim however, and with a team somewhat in transition, this is far from guaranteed - van der Riise did his best at the Copa but there are still a lot of new faces that need to come in in both the long and short-term, and that will perhaps be Rasmussen's greatest challenge as his reign begins.

Assistant Manager: Steffan Pekarik, 42
Steffan Pekarik is a player who knows what it takes to succeed. Holding 141 caps for the Terns (the joint fifth highest total), and appearing for East Franz Athletic and KagPaz club Urajbina before joining Axel Heiburg and being their first ever title lifting captain under Morten Rasmussen's guidance, he later went straight into the coaching set-up at the Argonauts and became the assistant manager second only to Rasmussen by the time Jorgen Hauge lifted the title last season. Upon Rasmussen's job offer at the Terns, Pekarik was swiftly whisked across as well, and it is thought that the inspirational and dynamic former left-back with the talent for man-management is being trained and prepared for a crack at a big management job himself in the future.

PLAYERS:
#1 - GK - Artemiusz Korzhanenko - Age 24 - SK Franz Josef City - 6 Caps
After some strong performances for the u-21s, Korzhanenko has been handed the chance to make the Terns number one jersey his own not long after he captured the number one jersey at SK just ahead of the undoubted talent of Kirilaunen. Nigh on unbeatable when challenging for the ball in the box, he also has a great record in penalty shoot outs, and you never know when that might come in handy. With a long qualification campaign just what a new goalkeeper needs to settle in properly, hopefully he'll be nice and confident by the time the Terns have a chance at either the CoH or the finals.

#2 - DR - Zacharias Juul - Age 32 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 148 Caps, 10 Assists, 11 Goals
So often seen bombing down the wing in support of the attackers or simply on a distracting run that defenders have to cope with, Juul truly blossomed under the tactical regime implemented by Schwartz, turning from a dependable and solid right-back with an attacking twist into a full-on attacking wing-back. He is fast, a natural leader, capable of single-handedly turning around any teams' fortunes on the pitch, calm and confident on the ball, and will be one of the most consistent performers in the side, week-in, week-out, launching attack after attack up the right wing as required to by the formation being played. His pace isn't what it used to be, so will be looking to support more than attack in some instances, and he has announced that this will be his last cycle with the Terns.

#3 - DC - Julius Oyen-Spekke - Age 29 - East Franz Athletic - 85 Caps, 8 Assists, 6 Goals
Quietly putting in match-winning performances isn't easy in the Federation League, where every move is scrutinised and caught on camera, but playing for a club outside the big four helped. Oyen-Spekke is a defender upon whose shoulders many hopes rested when his promotion to the starting XI was once seen as something of a risk, however daft that may sound now. He hasn't looked back since, and following disappointing results for Resolute Storm he moved for big money to East Franz Athletic and has become one of the best defenders in the country since. His agility and ability in the air is almost unmatched, and for sheer athleticism he'll be hard to beat, particularly as he is a huge threat in the opposition box as well.

#4 - DC - Torre Urfstadt - Age 32 - Club ESF (Valanora) - 135 Caps, 4 Assists, 4 Goals
Urfstadt is one of the most reliable players to have ever played for the Terns, and he has been important for every club he's ever played for. Fast, powerful, and one of the shining lights in the Terns' crown, he is a truly formidable defender - the likes of which the Federation hasn't seen since Niko Marek. Expect his 6'8" frame to be a danger in the opposing penalty box as well, but for the last time, as he is another player who has indicated that this will be his last in the Terns jersey.

#5 - DL - Kohev Küngas-Vaga - Age 24 - Northbrook Diamonds FK - 52 Caps, 13 Assists, 5 Goals - VICE-CAPTAIN
Impressed as the U-21s captain despite going out in the group stages of the DBC under his watch, this defender is well known and trusted by van der Riise, so it was no surprise to see him made vice-captain for the Copa, something that Rasmussen has seen no reason to change. Kohev is a combative and battling left-back, though he is a talented centre back and defensive midfielder as well, and this youthful enthusiasm and adaptability is something that van der Riise will be able to make good use of. Moving to the first team as a result of Edvar Folke's previous hamstring tear, his athleticism was called upon to offer support and attacks from down the left side, and he has now ousted the SK defender from the starting XI entirely.

#6 - DMC - Eyvindur Sudesval - Age 28 - SK Franz Josef City - 42 Caps, 3 Assists, 3 Goals
Another favourite of van der Riise who has captained the u-21s in the past, Sudesval came to the senior side with a wealth of experience already in his back pocket, and his performances at defensive midfielder at the Copa were good enough for Rasmussen to retain his services in the crucial hub of the Pythagorean for the qualifiers. Confident in his own abilities, he lets his football do the talking, and this quiet individual can often be seen practising alone if left to his own devices. Strong in the air and full of potential, his fitness levels are astonishing, able to run end to end for 120 minutes if needed to, therefore making him a perfect payer for the Pythagorean system. Boasts a powerful thunderbolt of a shot as well as the ability to control and dictate a match. He's a pro all-round defensive midfielder, which is exactly why SK brought him back from Saugeais in an effort to fix their lack of weight in the middle of the park.

#7 - MC - Niko Lepka - Age 30 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 92 Caps, 42 Assists, 9 Goals
Not many would have expected such an experienced and calm reader of the game to reside in a body so young at the time, however, Sol Kirkkegaard saw the talent this young midfielder has to bring the table, and brought him in to repeated squads as he did with van Sorensen, hoping to see the same results. After a number of short cameos offered mere tasters of what he is capable of, he managed to secure a more permanent position and has since thrived under Schwartz's regime. Playing for Atletik Thessia and RVA before moving to Jan Mayen, he was well experienced and highly thought of in both Mytannion and Erathore before his subsequent move to the Islanders, who utilise his talents in a three man compact attacking midfield. He likes to give as good as he gets, physically speaking, but his real skill lies with distribution, and he is seen as the successor to Demarchelier. Rasmussen will hope he gets the best out of him quickly, as he has been known to blow hot and cold recently.

#8 - MC - Marten Cornelius - Age 27 - FC Axel Heiburg - 43 Caps, 22 Assists, 5 Goals
Cornelius came into the squad having been an inspiring presence for the U-21s in the past, and some impressive game-changing performances for Axel Heiburg underlined his quality as he was a key member of their Champions' Cup title-winning side. Two assists in his first five caps for the Terns gave glimpses of a fine midfielder with excellent vision, and despite playing a more attacking role for Axel Heiburg, we see him in the traditionally 'box-to-box' slot in the Pythagorean midfield plan. His inspirational midfield performance against Yuba United in the final of the Champions' Cup, pinging passes left right and centre as the Silver-Blues had no answer to his output, shows us that he's perhaps the closest thing we've got to a replacement for Alexsandr van Sorensen's driving midfield creativity, and as one of the experienced senior members of this side now, he will be needed to provide some leadership.

#9 - ST - Vadim Illich-Svitych - Age 24 - FC Axel Heiburg - 35 Caps, 2 Assists, 12 Goals
With van der Riise taking both Jagr and Illich-Svitych to Wight for the Brevity Cup, the latter found his range with explosive style in his first match off the bench, and he was frequently brought on to terrorise defences late in the game after that. He has had a couple of outstanding seasons in the Federation League, quite rightly catching the eye as FC Axel Heiburg lifted the title and took the Champions' Cup with them, and this young striker with the dazzlingly good ball skills will seek to continue his hot streak here now Elmsvikur's retirement has granted him a spot in the starting line-up. Trusted and relied upon by Rasmussen, it is safe to say that up until now he is yet to hit the heights for the Terns that he manages for the Argonauts; hopefully that can change now his club manager is his national manager.

#10 - AMC - Alexsandr van Sorensen - Age 33 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 211 Caps, 86 Assists, 92 Goals - CAPTAIN
Shining light of the side Alexsandr is now just turning thirty-three, and at his best he can be devastatingly untouchable. Played a vital role for Jan Mayen before his move to Cafundéu where he played for Petardos S/A after CR Submiria, and is now on his way back home to the Ospreys after making waves with Valladar club AS Bezieres in the Super League, winning the Cygnus Cup three times in the process. Suffers from rare brain condition synaesthesia, meaning his senses get muddled up in his head, but manages to not let this affect his attractive attacking play - indeed if anything it appears to help him. Having played as a midfielder for Petardos S/A, Joachim Schwartz made full use of this natural tendency of Alexsandr's to drift backwards, and placed upon his shoulders the crucially important role of trequartista in his tactical scheme - taking up the pivotal role behind the strikers in the 'attacking triangle', and acting as a midfielder when the side has to defend. An all-time legend already, he is without a doubt the Terns' key player at this tournament and has been handed the captaincy by van der Riise as a result, and indeed he probably will be until he retires. Speaking of which, at thirty-three years old now, if the Terns are going to use one of the best players in the world to propel them to being the most successful Copa nation in history, they haven't got many chances left.

#11 - ST - Diedrich Kvitchenko - Age 31 - East Franz Athletic - 101 Caps, 12 Assists, 42 Goals
With twenty-eight goals in his Terns career up until last cycle, Kvitchenko perhaps hadn't hit quite the same forms in his international career as he does domestically. That all changed last cycle however, as he was arguably the Terns' best performer. He is a lethal striker, and is equally capable at playing out wide left or right and cutting in if required to do so. He is faster than he looks, even at thirty-one, and likes to use this to surprise defenders - changing direction and making a darting run that finishes in a first-time shot before many are even aware he changed direction. His ability to find space like this has been likened to witchcraft by a few defenders, and though he might not touch the ball much during the match, when he does, he uses it efficiently.

#12 - GK - Piotr Hemjann-Bezelhov - Age 30 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 10 Caps, 1 Assist
Taking over the first gloves at Jan Mayen since Mathias Marek's sudden move abroad had been something of a baptism of fire for the keeper, but his reflexes and speed off his line have kept him right and his performances had at one point dragged the Ospreys back into title contention as a result. Recent results aside, he still shines for Jan Mayen, and with Korzhanenko's jump to number one jersey the backup keeper for the Terns remains Hemjann-Bezelhovs.

#13 - GK - Iulian Kirilaunen - Age 20 - FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls - 1 Cap
Kirilaunen was handed the number one jersey at Surtsey last season, repaying the confidence shown in him by producing some outstanding performances as the Gulls exceeded all expectations. Twenty years old is astonishingly young for a goalkeeper to appear on the national team's bench, but there are some intensifying whispers about this young man, and Rasmussen hasn't really surprised that many people by including him here. Whether or not he'll get on the pitch is another question...

#14 - MC - Jean-Eric Villeneuve - Age 23 - Northbrook Diamonds FK - 23 Caps, 9 Assists, 4 Goals
Moving back to Northbrook from Cap Nordique in Cotdelapoms, Villeneuve is a creative attacking midfielder in the same mould as Lepka and Demarchelier and, like the latter, he hails from the Rochefroides community of Ellismare. Fluent in five languages, he is incredibly intelligent as far as footballers go, and his range of passing and vision on the pitch is evidence of this. Not the fastest player to have ever hit the turf, he lets the football do all the hard work for him, which can lead to his apparent lack of effort being an easy target for disgruntled fans is results aren't going so well. Fortunately, with Jean-Eric in the side, this is rarely the case.

#15 - DL - Edvar Folke - Age 31 - SK Franz Josef City - 98 Caps, 4 Assists, 3 Goals
A hugely dynamic presence in the defence, Folke plays his way for SK after starting abroad, and his huge promise impressed Schwartz enough to ensure he kept the starting position over his rival Luka Baalsen for so long, his exciting runs being a particular highlight. Rasmussen has kept faith with the SK full back since he's taken over at the Terns, taking him back over Vaaraniemi now he's back from injury, and his experience and consistency at the back can only help the side. Offers a more defensive option to the Terns than Kungas-Vaga does at left back, and so when the chips are down, expect to see Edvar appear.

#16 - DR - Dima Petersen - Age 29 - Ituraitz FC (Astograth) - 43 Caps, 1 Assist
Rasmussen has raised a few eyebrows amongst his fellow coaches by re-calling Ituraitz defender Petersen, but a pledge to choose players based on form rather than reputation is a pledge, and so Petersen is back. Hesjedal is the future, no doubt, but the short-term is about results and getting Rasmussen the platform he needs to strike out from, and so that means players that have shown their quality over and over. And that, in turn, means Peterse. Dependable for Ituraitz, reliable, and a strong leader, he won't make many mistakes. Nor will he be very adventurous going forwards however, as the statistics show.

#17 - DMC - Andrej Einmark - Age 29 - 1896 Ebor (Mytannion) - 16 Caps, 1 Assist, 1 Goal
Another player called up on form abroad is Andrej Einmark. The defensive midfielder shone at North Star Grimsey and earned himself a big money move to East Franz. A Terns call-up followed, but his form left him, and it has taken a trip abroad to Ebor to regain the quality and assured coolness-of-head that lead to him being called up in the first place. Tough tackling, adept at reading the game, and athletic, Einmark has nonetheless been seen as something of a bottler in the Federation after his form dipped whilst at East Franz. It will take some strong performances here to overturn this opinion of him.

#18 - ST - Felix Saarinen - Age 27 - East Franz Athletic - 30 Caps, 2 Assists, 17 Goals
With a series of hugely impressive performances in the Federation League, Saarinen's partnership up front with Kvitchenko has seen the Polarian duo become one of the most feared partnerships in the league. He is fast and nimble, and yet is able to command a lone striker position if necessary. Tall and a dangerous figure in the box, his resilient pace late on will torment tired legs, and this will surely see him make an impact as he aims to improve his impressive goal ratio yet again. Twitchers are excited to see just what he can still do in the Terns shirt, and whilst he perhaps hasn't been granted as many chances for the national team as he could, and some would say should, have done, he is nevertheless on form to shine this tournament if he gets the game time.

#19 - AMC - Vladimir Konovalov - Age 27 - Royal Rumiatzi (Astograth) - 16 Caps, 2 Assists, 2 Goals
Konovalov is a strong and powerfully built attacking midfielder, and he can blast his way through a defence and let the attackers pounce on the remnants of the shattered rearguard with a simple lay-off. Playing his whole life for Royal Rumiatzi, he hasn't been as visible to Terns coaches in the past as he could have been, and Schwartz in particular seemed not to be a fan of the attacking midfielder, but that was then, and this is now. Rasmussen sees a place for the direct pace and power of Konovalov in the squad, and as an alternative to van Sorensen if Plan A isn't working he could be a game-changer.

#20 - ST - Wojciech Jagr - Age 23 - FC Axel Heiburg - 7 Caps, 3 Goals
Wojciech Jagr has been Vadim Illich-Svitcyh's partner in crime throughout this whole career, the both of them coming through the Haapa-Mechelin Youth Academy at the same time, and whilst probably not quite as talented as his strike partner, there is no doubting his drive and desire to win. A relatively short striker by Polarian standards, Jagr is a battler, a fighter, and an ankle-biting scrapper who can be brought on to link in with the midfield at any time. His finishing might let down at times, but his style of play nonetheless makes him a very handy player to have in your side.

#21 - MC - Jorgen Kirvesniemi - Age 21 - Red Star Severny - 2 Caps
Appearing regularly in the top flight for Rapid Jan Mayen and then later in Divisjon Two, his signing by Red Star Severny was seen another step in the young midfielder's development, and one that has brought him once again to the attentions of first van der Riise and now Rasmussen. He has it all in his locker, and can twist and turn out of danger, or provide a battling block as necessary. He can inspire and rifle in assists, or he can sit back and dictate play. Unwilling to let him become a positional expert just yet, the coaches are keen to let him add to his arsenal of overall talents. Could be a world-great in the future, another Hansen or Bielsen, so this is all seen as vital experience, and it is seen as no surprise that the bigger clubs are taking a good look at him.

#22 - DC - Soren Rovanpera - Age 23 - FC Axel Heiburg - 5 Caps
Already a multiple title-winning defender with the formidable Golden Generation of FC Axel Heiburg, Soren Rovanpera is well known to Rasmussen. Wise beyond his years, Soren is capable of marking the best players out of the game on his day, and he can frustrate and torment like a pro, teasing more than one volatile striker into a sending off in his time. With a good future ahead of him, Rovanpera will be keen to add to his caps here.

#23 - DC - David Wien - Age 24 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 17 Caps, 1 Assist, 1 Goal
Thanks to Jan Mayen Islanders' partnership with Liventian team Caernville Seahawks, Wien has already accumulated a significant amount of first team experience; experience that has set him up well as he moved not only back home to Jan Mayen, but also from the u-21s side into the full international side and now the starting line-up. His leadership and positional knowledge is already at an advanced stage, and his popularity with the other players in the side is noticeable to all. Pencilled in by some in the media as a future captain, he walks the fine line between being popular and being a leader like an expert. Despite this, his short temper can sometimes let him down.

TACTICS: "The Pythagorean" 2-3-3-2
The Polarian game is fast, quick, and physical. They won't give you a second on the ball to think, and they won't hold back in the tackle. In the centre of the park they will play a possession based midfield game, though a defence splitting pass could come at any moment towards the fast and direct attack. Seeing no reason to alter the formation based on the talents of Polarian footballers, Rasmussen will be keeping Schwartz's tactical plan, a narrow and heavily modified diamond formation dubbed the Pythagorean by the sporting press. It is reliant upon two key triangular sets of players that transcend the normal "rows" of player in conventional formation layouts. Oyen-Spekke, Urfstat, and Sudesval will act as the defensive triangle, and van Sorensen, Kvitchenko, and Illich-Svitych will counter at the other end as the offensive triangle. Sudesval and van Sorensen's roles in this scheme are absolutely crucial, as their job is to support and unlock the other two players in their respective triangles, providing outlets and creativity in abundance. Lepka and Cornelius will be part of a compact and creative midfield that will supply steel or style whenever the situation demands it, as well as partnering up with their respective full backs to form a kind of "bumper" that sweeps the flanks in attack or folds in to protect the penalty area in defence. Fitness of all players will therefore be key to the success of this plan, not least the constant positional changing demanded of Sudesval and van Sorensen, but the athleticism of Juul and Küngas-Vaga in particular will be tested to the limit as their roles require frequent attacking. It's not quite a 4-3-3, it's not quite a 4-1-2-1-2, and it's not quite a W-M... its the Pythagorean.

The U21 goalkeeper is on the national team after his stint with the team during the Copa Rushmori and managed to get himself onto the squad for the upcoming qualifiers, but many peg him as the third string behind the man he was an understudy for with the U21 team.

3- LCB, Jordan Jaffacake - Moresville FC 71 Caps, 5 Goals, 23 Years Old
The hulky Moresville center back continues to be the prize piece of the Knights defense. With a strong body and an ability to score with his head Jaffacake continues to be the best young defender perhaps in the world. Even better, is after the marriage last season the center back duo could be the key puzzle piece to hold the other team from scoring, ever.

4- RB, Peter Fasnacht - Los Riosa Monstas 28 Caps, 23 Years Old
A continued ability to run up and down the field like a banshee keeps the right back position in good hands with young mr Fasnacht. Now with another tournament under his belt Peter continues to look like the most capable full back for the right side.

7- LB, Jeremiah Longwaters - Gordonopia FC(United Gordonopia) 71 Caps, 1 Goal, 23 Years Old
The other fullback and the one who has been around with the team for a bit longer. With the fourth member of the group continuing to catch up to the other three in experience it is this humble writers opinion that the back four will really show the world something. And make is so the Goalie does not have to worry, Ever.

The final member of the fearsome foursome really continues to be the smart one of the group, the tactically efficient one and the most likely to crush a opposition defenders dreams of scoring on the Knights. And as to the aforementioned marriage she truly has managed to somehow grow happier every day since. One wonders what would happen if the two were fighting.

The most likely to sub with a lead late is Eddie Styles. Sadly though the chances of him seeing the field otherwise rely on someone somewhere getting hurt, and for the mercy of Taeshan lets not hope anyone on the defense gets hurt.

9- CDM, Manny Pato - Bayern Phoenix 35 Caps, 2 Goals, 26 Years Old
The sweeping Center defense midfielder has long been the spark that leads the Knights forward. No manner of rattling can get to him, and as he showed in his first performance with the national team he very well can be the man to bring glory to Taeshan, as long as the rest of the team doesnt continue to be in his way.

12- RM, Andrew Müller - Arçon(Saugeais) 16 Caps, 1 Goal, 23 Years Old
There it is, the newest member of starting lineup, well along with a player to be mentioned later, Andrew is really the winner of a big race held at the Copa to coach who should take the starting spot in the coming years, much like in the who should be on the team race for the none full team members. Andrew beat out Aaron Conrad who will look to one day replace Gwyn Juniper.

14- CAM, Xavier Ptolemy - Bayern-Algaer 44 Caps, 4 Goals, 26 Years Old
The roaming attacking midfielder Ptolemy will be the one to spring forth the goalscoring strikers, however few goals the Knights manage to score. But it is no matter, the defense is where it is at for the Knights, the rest is just icing.

11- RM, Mark Tlumach - New Capetown Falcons 1 Cap, 1 Goal, 22 Years Old
The lucky midfielder tasked with a new responsibility playing for the national team. The Co-Captain of the most recent U21 effort, and a notable goal a gamer now for the national team, however doubtful that it lasts, Tlumach is a very adept speedster and great leader on the mental side, he will most likely be the first of the next generation.

13- CM, Tyler Icicle - Tintown Terrapins 15 Caps, 0 Goals, 24 Years Old
Another member of the fight to the death for the starting spot crew, Icicle lost but in reality its now shock with him being a center midfielder and no real center position. Icicle will likely continue to be a man of the bench for the Knights looking forward.

The likely successor to a center attack position Conrad is a real star when he comes on the pitch for the Knights, with continued work he could be a longtime player for this team and really could pack a punch off the bench.

The aging Attacking midfielder could be around for his last world cup working to help the national team. Come 20 years from now Palisades will not be the guy people remember, but like all Knights before him he is a valuable member of the team. A brother.

The man, the myth, the legend. Ok, not really the myth or the legend yet, that position on the team sits with Gwyn Juniper. ITs hard to believe that Ender Wiggin is the second longest tenured player on the national team. MY how the days go by.

10 - LS, Brian Ibrahim - Unattached(TG me) 57 Caps, 12 Caps, 24 Years Old
The newest starter, besides the previous mentioned one. Ibrahim has long been rumored to be the next striker for the Knights and he has come through on it. Of course Brian Kljestan did have a very nice run during the Copa, but as the odds on favorite Ibrahim handily one the job and is of course the long time coach and fan favorite.

5 - RS, Kyle Laravy - Mt Ceabring Thunder 26 Caps, 1 Goal, 22 Years Old
Kyle Laravy has the fact that he is young on his side, and his failure at the Copa in a starting position really doesnt mean much as he didnt win a starting spot. To be fair though Kyle really needs to work on his finishing.

16 - LS, Tyler Pantoum - Goidelic(Ancharmunn) 1 Caps, 1 Goal, 19 Years Old
The youngest member of the national team now and the newest striker, Pantoum will be pulling double duty for the full team and the U21s. The lucky winner of the draw of the copa rushmori, Pantoum will under study for a few years whilst playing U21 football, and will one day be very, very scary.

20 - LS, Brian Kljestan - Bayern- Algaer 15 Caps, 4 Goals, 28 Years Old
The best overall striker at the Copa Rushmori, but the odds on long shot to win the spot due to the long history of Brian Ibrahim, Kljestan proves to be the best looking option of the bench and a scary offensive menace.

24- RS, Seth Clapton - Los Riosa Monstas 16 Caps, 0 Goals, 29 Years Old
Also close to the end of his national team leash Clapton has really managed to do little for the national team, and is really outstaying his welcome. Hopefully though Clapton looks to be a very scary option every once in a while.

Licentian National Football Team

Here we go again. Another new manager, and another one that gives us worries for that matter. From two men at once, to men with dying sons, to inexperienced morons, to men who can’t quite deal with the pressure of a big-name nation. Why always us...

Manager - Joachim Schwartz (Polar Islandstates):
Kelly Sporadic was sacked after another Campionato exit early in the knockout round, this time to the “Auld Enemy”, Cyborg Holland. The hunt was over rather quickly, with Schwartz, recently departed from his job at Polar Islandstates after the most recent World Cup. Schwartz brings with him a fairly good coaching record, as a manager at the club he played for, Surtsey Island Gulls, and as a assistant (to Sol Kirkkegaard) and then manager with the Terns. A defensively minded coach like the esteemed Mr Sporadic (now with Eura), Schwartz is hoping not to wilt under the pressure of the Licentian media (and we are hoping the same thing).

Duncan Watson is still being allowed to sit back and watch the fracas.

A very controversial decision early on in the reign of Joachim Schwartz. He’s dropped the stalwart of the Licentian back four, Toby Bishop, in favour of Corinthians defender Kevin Boyle. The official line is that Boyle fits better into the new gaffer’s scheme, but, as usual, rumours abound, from a punch-up, to insults about Schwartz’s mother. Evan Russell has weathered the storm, and will keep his place in the squad. For now.

An aging defensive pairing leaves worries for Schwartz early on in the job. Sean Stewart has graciously offered to retire from the international radar earlier than planned, leaving the Polarian with one less worry, but he still has to think about the aging Billy Walters, and who will replace them permanently. For now, Kyran Stevenson will join Walters in defence, and Sam Hill (of Carrington United) and Grant Ferguson (SC) will join up with the squad as young back-ups.

This is probably the one thing that hasn’t changed within the Cyan-and-Gold set-up. Captain, stalwart, star of the team, Nate Parkinson will remain as the major man, and will likely take an even larger role in the Polarian inspired scheme run by Joachim Schwartz. McKay will try to sneak into the set-up every so often, but he won’t have too many chances.

Ruaraidh Donaldson burst on to the scene during the Campionato, and hasn’t looked back since, taking a starting role for the Cyan-and-Gold alongside the veteran Dylan Knight in central midfield. Ben Black will get more opportunities during this cup thanks to his attacking tendencies, while Josh Brown will be forced to hold out on the bench.

Lewis Slater will get opportunities from the bench, as will Jared Anderson, who recovered from a knee injury in time to make Joachim Schwartz’s squad for the World Cup

A twist in the story of “King” Keir, the star of SC Montfort and the Cyan-and-Gold for the last couple of years. The new boss has indicated that Keir will be the starting forward for the Licentians during this World Cup, meaning that Logan Moran, playing in Schwartz’s homeland, will have to make do with sitting on the bench with Tyler Henderson, at least for the first few games.

Formation – The Pythagorean v2/The Hourglass:
A variant on the Pythagorean system used by Schwartz in the Polar Islandstates, the only real difference is that the Cyan-and-Gold system involves two triangles linked together by the holding midfielders, which looks sort of like an hourglass on paper (hence, the name).

APOX WORLD CUP 64 QUALIFYING ROSTER

Manager: Fendergéson Numbá (Farfadillis)
Style: -2

Spiel: Numbá is incredibly yet to lose a game as manager of the National Team and has started his tenure well having retained the Campionato Esportiva. However, some say, possibly fairly, that he won the tournament with the strong side amassed by John Grigia, as he made few changes. This longer and more important qualifying campaign will test his skill as a manager, and he will need to mould a strong team as a result. Olim Benzari has been appointed captain, with his vice captain being Chris Maarsden. Chris Neguwa and more significantly Dravid Scott have both retired, as Chris Maarsden has been recalled, along with a call-up for promising youngster Matthias Sindelar, who is able to fit in partly as a defender and partly as a midfielder.

Numbá faces several challenges, but the most pressing is Dravid Scott's departure. Scott was the all time leading goalscorer with twice the goals of the next highest scorer, Chris Maarsden. Numbá will need to either get Maarsden back to his goalscoring days of old, as under John Grigia he has been largely ineffective, or find a new person with the ability to score. Only time will tell how well that works for him.

DBK Sports – Football – Squad for World Cup 64

Yep, it’s almost time for the biggest football tournament on the planet – the World Cup. The World Cup is entering its 64th edition. World Cup 64 will be held in New Montreal States and Wight.

This article will tell you about our squad for World Cup 64. This is our fourth World Cup. Between our first World Cup (the 61st edition) and the end of the 63rd edition, we managed to claw a long way up the rankings, from unranked to 81st. However, we lost all of our games at Cup of Harmony 55. Our miserable performance at the CoH, as well as a subpar show at World Cup 63 qualifying, saw us drop to 88th. This meant that 6 teams who are newer to the World Cup than us – High Heels, Maklohi Vai, Cuboneland, Svengarda, Kaledor, and The Inevitable Syndicate – are higher than us in the rankings. It’s embarrassing to be worse than six teams who are newer than you – with two of those teams (TIS and Kaledor) having only started in the last cycle. That’s when you know you’re shite.

World Cup 61 qualifying was quite successful for us – we were unranked, but finished 7th out of 9 in qualifying Group 5. World Cup 62 qualifying was average at best – we finished 5th out of 8 in qualifying Group 15. World Cup 63 qualifying was terrible – we finished 6th out of 10 in qualifying Group 18, and lost most of our games. One of those losses was 4-3 at home to unranked Nation M! That’s another clear sign of shiteness. This time around, we need to do better. We cannot record any shock losses – there’s no room for error at all.

Represents the real-life Ten Counties of Southern California: mid-coast Los Angeles (43.3% of total population), far south coastal San Diego (13.6%), Orange (13.3%) in between, Riverside (9.7%) to the east, San Bernardino (9%) just north of that, northeastern Kern (3.7%), coastal-and-desert Ventura (3.6%) just north of LA, coastal Santa Barbara (1.9%) northwest of LA, coastal San Luis Obispo (1.2%) in the far northwest, and Imperial (0.8%) deep in the southeastern (inland) desert. For reasons of geographical convenience only, (San Diego, Orange, Riverside, Imperial) are called the "South Counties", while (San Bernardino, Kern, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo) are the "North Counties" and Los Angeles County is considered separately as its own microcosm. (The distinction is more important in rugby, but also represents a gradient of industrial focus (S->N) from biotechnology to component manufacturing and repair, and of agriculture from fruits and meats to vegetables and dairy.)

Cars are banned throughout the Federation, except for transporting produce, farm implements, provisions and so forth. However, a thick, tightly-woven grid of public transit collectives and committees overlays the entire country, and high-speed rail connects even most small cities and towns. Most transit stops do not require more than a 5-minute wait during the day; the culture generally shares a more relaxed view of time, but the steady demand and constant human interaction make it a highly desired job where drivers who fail to keep a tight schedule are not as reliably supported by their unions, and are soon overtaken by more useful public servants.

Off pitch, FSC fans are known to be partial to live music and the odd kiloton of marijuana, sharing their own federal cannabis distribution collective and supporting a large number of traveling Califan bands with voluntary donations, taco sales and so on. The team also has salaried drummers who receive free tickets, and the noise situation at FSC home games can get a bit raucous, on account of there’s nothing to stop an amateur instrumentalist or several dozen from making the trip and sitting in the community free seats. Home games feature a ritual similar to the Mexican Wave which involves passing joints, although there is also the actual Mexican Wave, since this used to be Mexico. Matches in coastal counties may be disrupted by the throwing of beach balls onto the pitch, an old sports tradition which has never been fully extinguished.

In capitalist and/or authoritarian countries, FSC supporters can kick off a bit of a riot, when offended enough by local policies. Otherwise they are generally well-mannered with the odd exception, and in all cases they are encouraged by federal law and required by unwritten custom to volunteer some of their traveling time at local charities, particularly those involving the production and distribution of food, clothing and shelter.

In association football, rivals include Ko-Oren, Kinitaria, Osarius, Bostopia (but not so they'd notice), Unibot, and most recently Phoenigetuzstha, the latter three of whom we have upset in World Cup Qualifying; most devastatingly and consistently against Phoenigetuzstha, who we have disturbed in WC 61 and 62, but with similar consistency against a Bostopian team which would have had no mathematical reason to care. Unibot is the only nation which has had its WCQ travel restricted on our end; in their case, by outstanding arrest warrants for diplomats and government officials suspected of breaking regional law. The first three rivals listed are FSC's opponents in traditional pre-qualifying friendlies, and this time the lists have merged as Osarius has been drawn into our group.

Profit (defined as revenue kept by an individual in excess of any reasonable need or causing the danger of exploitation, without being reinvested into productive or socially useful activity) is outlawed in Free South Califas. Visitors, ICly, are recommended to generally refrain from selling things, except for the direct benefit of an obvious and legitimately charitable cause, in order to avoid any trouble. There is no specialized police force, but FSC citizens are trained to conduct citizen's arrests and have a deep interest in maintaining order and stability.

Most often in the internationally recognized capital city of Los Angeles (actually no more important than any other city except in the natural influence of its gigantic size), the FSC government offers visitors the unusual opportunity to provide direct input at special meetings of the International Solidarity and Diplomatic Affairs Committee, the federal government's equivalent of a foreign policy department. Citizens of other countries in The Internationale also have full voice and partial vote in meetings of the Region Relations Council. FSC and CSL domestic club

Huntington Beach has had its ups and downs, falling from the best defensive performance in FSC Season 1 to a recent roller coaster in which they were relegated, achieved promotion, then were relegated again immediately afterward, last season. Starting center back Frida Rubaiyat and backup goalkeeper Gerlinda Strelc reached their limits of patience with the Orange County coastal city, moving to top-ranked FSC clubs

Rancho Cucamonga and

San Luis Obispo respectively, just in time for the Globe Cup. Utterly devoid of Federal Team stars for the first time, it is unclear whether or how the Huntington Beach club will recover its former glory.

Starting wing back Nadezhda Prokhorova has been loyal to the

Long Beach club of the major industrial and trade port city from coastal Los Angeles County, since the inception of the Federal Team, the lapsed Free South Califas Soccer League, the current Califan Solidarity League and the club itself. Even the departure of star striker Bela Ceh to

AFC Farnworth did not overly test her loyalty, but finishing mid-table in CSL Series B was just too much. As a result, she has moved to

Rancho Cucamonga to shore up their defense along with Rubaiyat. Their core of two starting Federal Team defenders will certainly strike fear into opposing attacks. Returning to Long Beach, Federal Team backup midfielder Rufus Goldman also left, seeking a substantive shot at glory in UICA. Already sporting the best attack and defense in the CSL,

Calexico took him on in the hopes that he can help the back-to-back-to-back FSC champions regain the CSL title after it was won by the first foreign team ever,

Buffalo.

Pomona, a town beset by the mountains of eastern Los Angeles County and famous for its liberal arts colleges, was once a legitimate contender for the Globe Cup in the FSCSL and the subsequent CSL. Federal Team reserve wing-back Satel Norman once had cause to be optimistic, but their bottom-table finish in CSL Series B and impending relegation made such fantasies untenable. Not to be left out of the defensive arms race, former perennial Globe Cup contenders

Santa Maria enticed Norman's presence in order to shore up the third-worst defense in the CSL. Santa Maria have high hopes if they can reform their defensive effort, since they scored 60 goals and fell just three points behind Rancho Cucamonga for the last GC seed. Federal Team starting defender Onofre Reynoso Lovato appears to have been satisfied by this and other transactions that the club are serious about returning to their defensive roots.

Meanwhile, although they are still in CSL Series A and have never been relegated,

San Diego have had probably their worst season ever, and seem far from their former constant presence in the Globe Cup. Federal Team starting midfielder Godvin Nes doesn't have too many more years to play, and has also moved to the new FSC powerhouse, seemingly unstoppable

Calexico, alongside Goldman. San Diego wing forward Cao Dong is considerably younger but has a taste for glory.

Fontana, dominant in the first two COPACASUR domestic cups but fair to middling in league action, have reached a new recent high with their sixth-place CSL finish and Globe Cup entry and have brought on Dong in hopes that he can contribute some scoring punch.

Amidst a relative flurry of domestic movement, the Federal Team faces upheaval in other ways. After a lackluster performance following the apex of South Califas in World Cup qualifying which led to the Federation's first and thus-far only Cup of Harmony invitation, the future is less clear than ever, with Osarian manager Oswaldo "El Oscar el Loco" Garabona facing significant challenges to his prospective reelection. With the tacit understanding that Garabona was more likely to lose his reelection campaign than he had ever been before, and with the fear that organizational chaos could disrupt their enrollment as in the last two Olympics, in the name of stability the Football Assembly voted to extend "el Oscar"'s contract long enough for him to release a tournament roster. However, he acknowledged the uncertainty by insisting that the International Sporting Affairs Committee leave his name and those of other management staff off the official roster release.

He was not afraid to leave his mark, however, no matter who ends up moving forward with the team. He cut both backup goalkeepers, preempting Zlato Cokan's retirement announcement while leaving Strelc to try to recapture federal attention in her new digs at San Luis Obispo. Garabona also cut three of the four representatives from

Bio: He was discovered by a Gorfalle Town scout by the age of 18. Quickly rose to fame by becoming the FFL's goalkeeper of the year with Flying Jellyfish and was consequently bought by Ferdullaele FC. He can stop almost any shot, but will almost always lose the ball due to poor handling, or send it out. He can still handle easy shots, so he's really unlikely to commit a gross error. He's been a really good keeper at club level and national level and recently moved to Valladar relegation-threatened team Ajax Carloburgo, where he single-handedly saved them from relegation and got them to their best league position ever. His performances were key for Farfadillis' third place last AOCAF as hosts. His best performance was without a doubt against the Blue Foxes of Pacitalia, having been the only one to keep Farfadillis up and able to fight along with Tuzzio in what was probably the most important match in Farfadillis' history.

Style: Can join the attack precisely, good at defending
Bio: Illi Setentriona is really good when joining the attack, really good at tackling and short, but fast. His dribblings are impressive and is almost always unmarked. He used to be the captain of the U-21 side, before he turned 22. Apparently, he's seeking for a move out. However, he's never said a thing, one of those quiet guys at conferences. Though not the one that everyone wants to be or the one who scores that very important goal or makes that spectacular steal that saves the game, his two cents are very important for the team, as he and Frêndê are Farfadillis' way of wreaking even more havoc. His marking isn't impressive, but he rarely ever needs to mark as Farfadillis likes to hold possesion for long periods of time.

CB:
Name: Yung Chinsúa
Age: 24
Team: Feardallis' Wanderers
Style: Fast defender, aerial threat
Bio: He's been the captain ever since Saindí retired after WC60's Qualifyings. His performances last World Cup were terrible, but Rossizzo still trusts him. He's demonstrated he's an aerial threat despite being short, as he's good at knowing where the ball is heading and when to jump, as well as fouling people without the referee noticing. He's also really strong now and can tackle with extreme ease. However, it's proven he hasn't taken any kind of steroids or similar. He's fast and can dash to the ball at a very good speed for a defender. Still, he's often questioned by the Farf media because of how many chances the opponents often get during a match, ignoring the fact that he's often the only defender to prevent counterattacks, which are the most threatening weapon that can be used against La Vherderoja. However, nobody really pays attention to the Farf media, as Farves may be a bit aggresive, uneducated and so on but nonetheless smart enough to notice blatant lies that now a days are a common-sight.

RB:
Name: Agundí Frêndê
Age: 24
Team: Mabel Wigglytuffs (Northern Sunrise Islands)
Style: Very selfish, awesome dribbler.
Bio: He's arguably the best dribbler of the team, with Tuzzio competing for this unofficial title as well. He's one of Rossizzo's favourites due to his playing style, his performances on Farfadillis' last matches were impressive. So far, he hasn't received much momentousness, but he may any time soon. A player everyone should fear at least a bit, you never know when he can score the goal you don't want to concede. His talent at through passing is obvious as well, he's demonstrated it continuously, as well as his spectacular dribbling, which is vital for Farfadillis to create attacks, he and Setentriona form the duo of "defenders" that do anything except defending. Neither of them are good at defending, but their collaborations for the Farf attack are enough to make both of them worthy of the starter spot, unless Rossizzo wants a more defensive formation, in which case Nessi kicks in. He won a cup with Mabel Wigglytuffs of Northern Sunrise Islands, but the team's performances at the Sunrisian league have been pretty average.

CDM:
Name: Frion Wanderis
Age: 22
Team: 1.FFC Turbine Decraa (Mytannion)
Style: Very good defensively, very good dribbler, good passer.
Bio: Frion Wanderis is very good in important areas of the midfield, specially on a defensive point of view. He's a very important player of the team now, and never gets substituted. He's been performing awesomely lately, how much his form may last is unknown. These performances spotted the attention of Mytanar team 1.FFC Turbine Decraa, who are battling relegation and bought him to lead them forward out of the relegation zone. He and Mêndêlöíndçêl form another duo like that of Setentriona and Frêndê or Tuzzio and O'rosso. They're the ones who take care of keeping possesion and recovering it, both are good at defending, afterall. Wanderis is pretty good at retaining it as well, and even causing some problems to the defense when trying, though the effort he outputs isn't something you'd like, he still does pretty well, and has a high football IQ that helps him on everything. Perfect understanding of tactics and perfect prediction to steal the ball make his marking outstanding in a way and makes him a very important part of set pieces. His dribbling is very good and it helps him retain the ball, as mentioned.

CDM:
Name: Yurpá Mêndêlöíndçêl [C]
Age: 19
Team: Oyardo FC (Astograth)
Style: Very energetic, decent when it comes to technique and superb defensively.
Bio: Yurpá's not that good with the ball, but he's a ball-recovering machine. He was named most promising young player of the FFL and third best young player of the Astograthian League. He's got a solid place on the midfield, playing with Wanderis as a duo to keep possesion, Farfadillis' roots in its game. He's almost never the main protagonist of matches, but his constant steals always give Farfadillis an advantage, despite how he sometimes scores goals from long distances with strong missiles he's got used to execute. Has now forged an identity inside the field, often leading his teammates, an experienced tactician at a young age. Recently signed for astograthian side Oyardo FC, also, will be the captain this WC as he did really well as captain last AOCAF. He scored the equalizing goal in the Astograthian Cup Final that Oyardo won against Echegoyan. He's particularly ramarkable for how much effort he puts on the game, unlike his teammate Wanderis. This balances Wanderis' lack of will and makes them a very effective duo with Wanderis giving the skill and him giving the effort. His defensive skills are impressive, his steals are impossible to foresee as he's spectacularly fast and his passing is decent overall, with his dribbling not really being remarkable but not something you'd punish him for.

LM:
Name: Friekder Dandalleion
Age: 20
Team: Jungle Strike (Vilita)
Style: Extremely Fast, always helps on the offense, a bit on the defense, tends to score goals by outrunning players.
Bio: After being the best Farf player on the Swamp Soccer WC 2, he was called by Ferdullaele FC and started playing on Farfadillis' first division, was loved by the fans (who already loved him because of his performance on the SSWC2) and was called for the national team, quickly replacing Bujkanovic. He's is an example of commitment. He had performed really well in Cednia Beach, where he'd played slightly out of position, before signing for Vilitan champions Jungle Strike and becoming the first Farf player to play in the Champions' Cup, along with Ichi Tuzzio, where he got to the semifinals as a starter. Probably recognized as the best Farf footballer after becoming an AO-All Star starter and a World XI starter. However, Tuzzio's got a strong case for the same title as he was a sub for the earlier and the best foreign player in the V-League as well as best midfielder. He's by far the fastest of the team, and as it's Farfadillis that's quite a feat. He's difficult to catch when he dribbles using his speed, and his technique is by no means bad, his crossing isprecise, his dribbling is very good and his shots are unstoppable. He's also very oportunistic and knows when to run and which direction to take, which makes his speed even more lethal than it would be alone. He's one of those players that's never nervous and that never gives up a ball. Scores a lot for a midfielder, but he's more of a winger as of late, despite defending as well, which he does in an overall average way.

RM:
Name: Rancisc Tenian
Age: 21
Team: Gwinevra Barbarians (Apox)
Style: Playmaker, horrible at defending, sometimes scores directly from crosses
Bio: Tenian is one of the first Farf players to play abroad. He is an incredible playmaker. Matino decided to call him for the starting eleven over Minduruguatzel, and Rossizzo decided that this decision was very sensible so he kept him and even as a starter. Recently champion with Gwinevra Barbarians of the Apox National League twice, being a key player. Sometimes scores directly from crosses, regardless of difficulty. At first it was thought that it was just luck, but he's done it so many times now that people know he does it on purpose. He's basically a slower than average midfielder but one with a very good technique for passing and crossing, his dribbling might not be as remarkable, but it's still very good. His marking isn't good, just as Dandalleion but worse, but he makes up for it by not letting the ball go, ever. He's not one of those players that runs all around the pitch and so on, as he's not fast, as said, but he's good at knowing when to run to get the ball before someone else, at least.

CAM:
Name: Matí O'rosso
Age: 21
Team: Mardi Lopunnies (Northern Sunrise Islands)
Style: Fast-paced, agile, playmaker.
Bio: He's the centre of every attack and can assist from very difficult positions, coupled with Tuzzio, his duo companion. His weak point is dribbling, as he's used to pass the ball as soon as possible since he started playing football, but that doesn't make him a bad dribbler, just an above average one. He's very passive and never complains to the referee, never dives either. His free kicks are almost impossible to stop He's been underperforming lately, but he's been performing really well at Mardi Lopunnies, from Northern Sunrise Islands. Being champion and being the winner of the "Top Striker" award for the Heritage Cup, where his team lost in semifinals. He's been lacking his momentousness lately, but he might recover it this time, his assists are still there and his free kicks still go in, but the spark is missing and Farfadillis, despite still doing well, still doesn't manage to do as in WC61's Qualifiers, where they were 1 point away from the play-off spot, and it was arguably the best performance of the national team ever.

CAM:
Name: Ichi Tuzzio
Age: 19
Team: Makosile United (Vilita)
Style: Very good at shooting from long distances, excellent dribbler, agile, and good playmaker.
Bio: Ichi Tuzzio was originally born in Dodeni, Dandillis, but due to the fact that if you're born on Dandillis you get Farfadillis' nationality too (and viceversa), he plays for Farfadillis, because he hadn't played any official competition for Dandillis, just unofficial ones, among them the Campionato Esportiva, of which no-one has collected records about the Dandish team, luckily. He's demonstrated he's a hell of a player by shining last AOCAF and scoring no less than 3 goals against the hegemonists of Pacitalia, which the Farves somehow managed to defeat 3-1. He's the player most adversaries should fear when along with O'rosso, maybe along with Dandalleion. He signed his first contract with a foreigner team for Kiiarana City, Vilita. There, he'd played almost every game of the season, finally playing for a competent team. Has a strong case for best Farf player, currently facing Dandalleion for it, unofficially, obviously. However, they're both really good friends outside the team. He was a substitute for the AO-All Star team and the winner of 2 important Vilitan awards: Best Foreign Player and Best Midfielder. Somewhat short and thin, still very good at fighting and celebrates every Farf win by drinking. He's one of those players that could start a war between Farfadillis and Apox. Oh, wait, I'm spoiling it. First Farf to take part in the Champions' Cup along with Dandalleion.

ST:
Name: Fermín Juárez
Age: 24
Team: Avenida Victoria
Style: Deadly finisher who knows how to move in his natural habitat: the box.
Bio: Fermín Juárez is part of this mainly because of how he played in the FFL last season, outperforming pretty much everyone. He's still pretty young and is expected to play really well, fits better in a more defensive formation but can easily adapt. Performed decently enough last CoH to keep his starting position, the trophy in the war between the many young Farf strikers. However, he can fall down to any of the others easily. Led Avenida Victoria to its first-ever Globe Cup Group Phase appearance. His moves inside the box are to be feared, as well as his shots which are lethal, specially on one-on-one situations. He has an eye for the ball and can easily predict where the ball us heading, much as if it was an instinct. His headers are very potent and he likes to score from corners, as he doesn't find it hard. He's very acrobatic as well so if anyone would be most likely to score a spectacular goal similar or exactly as an overhead kick, that'd be him.

Style: Experienced Goalkeeper.
Bio: Raguzzelli may be young, but he's experienced; Koloko is a mid-table team which almost never manages to get a good player from their youth system. However, they managed to form Raguzzelli, and gave him playing time since his debut at the age of 16. He's played more than 300 matches for Koloko, but he'll probably move to another team as Koloko are likely to get relegated once again. He's probably gonna be Lisdiren's shadow for a lot of time, but he's still very experienced and makes up for an excellent back-up in case of send-offs, injuries and others.

Bio: Nomá Greffe is a very interesting LB, he's a bit slow, but totally makes up for it by always knowing what the opponent's going to do. He's not very good at long passing, so he often tries to make the team play better by using short passing. After not being called for the national team for some time, he's returned. Still, he probably won't be trusted anymore after some very bad performances leading to 8-1 and 7-1 thrashings, which many Farves still remember with dislike.

Name: Cundo Nessi
Team: Flying Jellyfish
Age: 21
Style: Almost perfect tactically sepaking.
Bio: Nessi was born in Ruland, known as the "3rd world state", a state where almost everyone is living in poverty, and starving. He was one of those kids who didn't get an education because of it. However, he did play a lot of football and managed to be spotted by one of Flying Jellyfish's scout. He's almost perfect when it comes to tactics. Just Frêndê's back-up, but is flexible and may enter for anyone in the defense, or defesnsive midfield if they get injured/tired/on low-form/carded and Rossizzo foresees a red card. He was briefly the starter for the CoH, before he underperformed a bit and Farfadillis ended up last of its group. He's still a possible sub for matches that ask for a more defensive style, as both are really attacking, unlike Nessi.

LM:
Name: I7'imund Bujkanovic
Age: 32
Team: Ferdullaele FC
Style: Fast, good on a defensive point of view.
Bio: I7imund is a fast midfielder, almost unstoppable on a long run. He's been the Best Farf Player of the year twice since his debút. His youth team was Tympú FC, but Ferdullaele FC bought him before he even debuted. Won't get much playing time, if any at all. He can still be decent when playing, but he hasn't got much time left in the team. He's been slowly losing his speed and might not have any real treats left now.

CDM:
Name: Américo Marino
Age: 32
Team: Avenida Victoria
Style: Very good at defending, good free kicks
Bio: Marino is currently in the last years of his career, but thta doesn't mean that Rossizzo can't call him up for the national team. He's a very good leader, inside and outside the pitch, and this national team needed a reference once and for all, they're all too young after all. He's a good back-up for Wanderis should anything happen, and better at attacking than Sereno, who couldn't join the squad due to a last minute injury. He's Avenida Victoria's captain and was one of the key players of the team that reached the Globe Cup knock-out stages, something without precedent.

ST:
Name: Fabrifé Numbá
Age: 30
Team: Tympú AC
Style: Fast, precise striker.
Bio: An incredibly fast and very lethal finisher. Used to compete on athletism until, at the age of 16, his uncle persuaded him to compete on football instead, he did keep his athletic treats though, something easily noticeable. Currently plays on Tympú AC . He's returned to the national team after a break to care after his father, who recently died. He hasn't become the starter again yet, but he may in the future.

Name: Yolo Fu
Age: 21
Team: Ferdullaele FC
Style: Ideal Poacher.
Bio: After Numbá decided to retire from the national team for an undefined amount of time, Matino called Ferdullaele FC's current centerforward: Fu, a decision Rossizzo kept but sending him to the bench instead. He's the ideal poacher: exquisite heading, good finishing, good at reacting, good positioning and fast on short distances. He's demonstrated what he's worth, but the battle for being the starter against all other strikers will continue, he's been losing it up to now. He's not as acrobatic as Juárez and is a bit worse than him in some aspects, as well as not having the talent to foresee what can happen exactly, and isn't as good at dribbling as Johans, another one that can win back his position easily.

Name: Neguimbelefra Fragreda
Age: 28
Team: Bafilo United (Slembana)
Style: Slow poacher.
Bio: Neguimbelefra is VERY slow, and often has troubles with the offside law, but he's a superb poacher and makes up for it completely. He lost his place on the starting eleven because of Ichi Tuzzio, Farfadillis' star now-a-days. He isn't getting any playing time with the national team lately, but he's the current top goalscorer in the Slembanan league. He's one of those players who you can predict not playing any minutes at all, or maybe just a few. However, you never know when Rossizzo can go completely crazy.

Name: Septimus Johans
Age: 19
Team: Ferdullaele FC
Style: Finisher, Awesome Dribbler and good crosser.
Bio: Septimus is one of Farfadillis' best strikers, currently, everyone has put their eyes on this young striker, being known for being "the perfect finisher". His dribbling and crossing are very good. As a lone striker, he's one that carries marks and goes to the flanks to cross the ball for the incoming midfielders, a tactic that without him on the pitch has changed now. It proved to be very effective back at WC61's Qualifyings, so Rossizzo might want to try him as a starter on some games, and he might keep that position if he does well.

ST:
Name: Sê Mêrí
Age: 19
Team: Mont Blanc Club (Free Swiss States)
Style: Awesome at crossing and going down the flank. Problems with goalscoring, but really young.
Bio: Sê Mêrí is actually a left winger, but he can pull off pretty much any position on the attack. He's been playing really well at the Free Swiss States, so he might get some playing time. It all depends on how lucky he gets, though. Played a really good DBC, too. Didn't get much playing time but might as well get some in the near future. He's still too young and isn't a complete prodigy like Dandalleion and Tuzzio were back on the day.

Name: Vasilije Østergård
Age: 18
Team: Avenida Victoria
Style: Playmaking striker. Precise shooting from anywhere. Excellent dribbling.
Bio: At the age of 18, Vasilije is this team's youngest player, as well as the most promising along with Ragnere, Daokō and Mêrí, all of them taken from the squad used last DBC. He's characterized for leaving his teammate attackers with best-case-scenario opportunities. His playmaking is often too much for defenders. He's extremely precise at shooting, often fetching the upper-corners with elegance. His dribbling is much better than average and he tends to administrate it well: just as much dribbling as needed to create an opportunity. Østergård became a starter with Flying Jellyfish last year, almost breaking a record for youngest player to make his first appearance. After this success, he was transferred to current FFL winners Avenida Victoria and played as a starter in replacement of the deceased Cris Bartoloměj, leading the team to a Globe Cup spot. Completely settled with Avenida Victoria, might settle soon with the national team, and seems like he could become the striker this WC Qualifyings. He saved Farfadillis with a last minute goal against Burchadinger that sent Farfadillis through to beat Pacitalia later on, in a match where he wasn't really important but played some time. Has shown some good performances so far, he'll have to keep them up.

In 1950 the FFFF decided that it was time to have an official stadium for the national team, they had used Tympú AC's stadium up to that moment. In the end they brought the resolution for the Federal Council to approve (back in that time, federations had to draft resolutions for the Federal Council, which would approve them or not).
The 20th of August of 1964, the Federal Council finally gave the FFFF the right to build the stadium, they even gave them a really huge piece of land that the state had, near Ferdullaele. On the 20th of November they presented the planes to the FM (Farf Municipality). After lots of inconveniences, the FFFF finally got to start building the stadium. They got the resources from selling diamonds from the diamond mine they had bought back in 1952, foresseing they would need money for the stadium and believing it was the best investment back then. The total cost of the stadium was of about F$100,000,000, back then, the stadium had 90,000 seats.

It would be upgraded to the monstrosity it is much afterwards, in the year 2004, when the amount of football fans grew substantially. Out of 300,000,000 people living in Ferdullaele, approximately 1,200,000 constantly tried to get tickets for Farfadillis' matches, back then playing only minor cups without being a recognized national team. That often made tickets really expensive and almost impossible to get, that's when the FFFF decided to upgrade the stadium to the gargantuan thing it is now. Now having the permission to do what they pleased, they gathered the money to upgrade it in approximately 5 years, they had started gathering it back in 1999. Donations were also needed, with the Farf population happily donating, statistics say that 1 out of 300 Farfs donated for it. The average of a donation was F$10 (approximately 15 dollars). This meant 15,000,000 dollars in donations plus all the money the FFFF had gathered from their mine. Soon, they had enough money to upgrade the stadium, they decided that the optimal number of new seats would be 60,000, effectively making the capacity 150,000. There's much controversy back then on what materials they were going to use, as they couldn't afford much more than pretty average materials, something that Farfs certainly didn't like. Finally, on the 25th of September of 2006, upgrading was over and the I7'snerra was now a juggrnautesque stadium it is now.

The 2nd of October of 2006, the renewed stadium would be inaugurated. It rained that day and there wasn't many people there, but it was a party regardless. The people were happy to have a bigger stadium, this would mean they would have to pay less to assist a Farf match and that they would have more possibilities of getting the tickets. The first match played on that stadium was a demonstration one, between past Farf stars. The teams were "Blue" and "Red", with Blue winning 7-4 on an epic match most Farfs will remember.
The Farf football team would later on sign up for the 60th edition of the World Cup, playing at the Farf I7'snerra officially for the first time. However, the result wasn't good for Farfadillis, they would lose against Darmen 2-1, in a match where both teams could've score more goals, but the posts denied almost every chance. Those qualifyings were a nightmare for Farfadillis, just as expected. Later on they would win their 1st match at the I7'snerra by a 1 goal margin against Tales, the goalscorer would be Matí O'rosso. This would be the only match Farfadillis would win that cycle. On World Cup 61, however, the team would fare really well at the I7'snerra, failing to score only once and losing only once against Cassadaigua, sadly, they lost 8-1 that game, a record. The team would only draw two games at the I7'snerra, lose one and winning five.

The I7'snerra, for short, is Farfadillis' biggest stadium, it can hold up to 150,000 people and is home to the national team. However, the I7'snerra's size backfires in security. The I7'snerra is a good place for hooligans and they do happen to frequent it a lot and the Federal Council just ignores it all the time, as well as the FFFF. So, expect a few shots to be heard ocasionally. Also, the I7'snerra is the second building in the "Top 10 least safe Farf structures" rankings. So, well, your people may fear going into it. Still, it's so big that it can even be considered a tourist attraction, so do consider visiting it for a match or two as a tourist.

ESSENTIAL BACKGROUND:
Ossidiacqua is a nation coming blinking into the light of the international community. In what seems like mere years ago for most nations, as Oasirica, they sent a team to the Baptism of Fire. Meanwhile, at home, with a terrible disease name la Plaga ravaging the country, the academics of the nation prepared to put up a time wall around the central hospital that would allow medics and scientists on the inside to spend months developing a cure or vaccine for la Plaga, whilst only days passed outside the time wall, allowing the maximum population to be saved. However, it went wrong, and the time wall surrounded the entire nation, cutting off the Baptism of Fire squad. Months passed outside the wall, whilst centuries passed inside it. La Plaga decimated the native population, leaving Djocorangan refugees in the nation untouched and ensuring they became the primary caregivers and nation re-builders. This also means that today, 99.9% of all Acquans are black in skin tone.

The time wall eventually dissipated after 270 years, labelled 'The Pause Time' by those inside the wall, revealing the nation of Ossidiacqua to the world for the first time. It was a much changed place, the weather, land, and cities had all changed, and the genetic heritage of the population had shifted from 99% Oasirican and 1% Other, to 97% Djocorangan and 3% Old Oasirican, and the paragraphs below the roster go some way to explaining some of what has happened as a consequence. You are also encouraged to read the series of RPs written during Oasirica's BoF, as they will provide a lot of back story that informs this complicated nation:

The Acquan game has been cut off from the rest of the multiverse for 270 years, and as such has developed a unique flavour and style of its own. Short passes, keeping possession, and running are the key to the majority of play, with Acquan teams keen to instil a sense of duty in their players that leads to any of them being able to play or deputise in any other position during the course of a match. The players are very capable with the ball, and have developed tricks and flicks enough to bamboozle any opponent, way ahead of their time as far as the rest of the multiverse is looking at it. However, they have much to learn about the way the rest of the footballing community plays their game, and with the Acquan game developing a far higher tolerance for rough and tumble, even the silkiest of attacking forwards (and in this squad there are four outstanding interchangeable strikers) can find themselves sent off for an illegal tackle that would have been perfectly legal in the Acquan leagues. Therefore, it would be of great help to me if you could RP my team as technically gifted, but tactically naive, and as far as international standards go, incredibly violent. Thank you.

Home Stadium: An archaic stone construction in the centre of Sant'Elia, Il Colosseo. Lit by oil lamps and featuring vast walls of stained glass, it seats 103,450 and is a treasured landmark, being one of the first building built by Acquans following the eradication of la Plaga, as the nation began to reinvent itself during the Pause Time.

Supporters: True to form for a nation whose people are generally scared witless of technology, the Acquans traditionally don't travel in huge numbers. However, that is all to change, and nations preparing themselves to face La Renaissance on the football pitch must now also prepare themselves for the arrival of a fleet of poorly maintained airships that contain scores of rabid Acquan supporters. Airships not being the fastest method of transport however, they may sometimes arrive a bit late. Like, weeks...

Assassins: After he resigned as the Magisterium's mole in the footballing administration to focus on just coaching, then-assistant Yoann Vega was trailed by a score of assassins during WC62 Qualifying on the orders of His Excellency Grand High Cardinal Giocomo Re. Several botched attempts and many dead assassins later, the manager of the national team Alessio Cardinale was tragically killed by an errant crossbow bolt that was intended for Vega, causing a minor scandal in New Montreal States in the process. Now manager of the team, Yoann Vega is likely to continue being a target of the Magisterium and Giocomo Re.

Velasquez: There must always be a Velasquez captaining the national side. It's best not to ask why, its just a thing that has to happen. Having fathered a son aged just twenty, the current captain, Ricardo Velasquez, still has a cycle or two left in him before he can hand over the reigns to his son Emmanuel.

FURTHER BACKGROUND:
The land of Oasirica was a large and beautiful one. After suffering the ravages of an unpredictable climate and loss of knowledge during the Pause Time, it has been transformed by the Djocorangan survivors of la Plaga into the Former Oasirican Republic of Ossidiacqua. Consisting of one main island and a handful of surrounding smaller ones, it can be found towards the north-west of the Vatmark region of Rushmore. The capital city of Sant'Elia is by far the biggest conurbation, and it whilst it used to shine with its golden spires and silver domes, it is now a shambolic and chaotic mix of alleyways and squares and piazzas, though the Acquans are making every effort to restore the city to its former glory, even getting the steam powered monorail back up and running, and employing a dirigible courier service.

Clean running water used to flow across the land and around the cities in an extensive network of aqueducts, channels, and canals. The continued eruption of volcanoes in the large Patriarchate of Vul in the east of the country during the Pause Time has affected this however, located over extensive mineral deposits as they were. These deposits included a huge amount of obsidian, obsidian that was distributed through the land in huge quantities, tainting the water, and giving the nation its new name. The water the flows is now nearly jet black in colour, and requires extensive treatment before it can be used as drinking water, leading the Acquans to rely on condensers that extract moisture from the dry air and from boiled off water vats often situated near rivers. These condensers often break, and are fixed by tech-priests who use mainly copycat work and guesses accompanied by some rather frenzied prayer rather than any informed ability to fix and maintain the machines, the knowledge for which died with the rapid spread of la Plaga. The weather is taking longer to recover from the time wall than expected, and the land whilst not particularly hot, is still exceptionally dry. The Oasiricans were a highly educated and cultured race, and the fall and loss of knowledge is embarrassing to the Acquans.

The patriarchate governmental system has moved from the old religion to one offering praise to a mechanical deity of no name, only various titles, with tech-priests and those in the Magisterium holding a high amount of respect. Since the dubious death of the former president, it is the maniacal Grand High Cardinal Giocomo Re who is in charge of the country, supposedly on an interim basis.

Football in Ossidiacqua is the national sport, and support is fanatical, with excitement only increasing in intensity thanks to the recent successful hosting of the Baptism of Fire alongside Iturributa. The Campiocinato continued during the Pause Time as a way to keep spirits up and has been running for 314 seasons as the football league structure in the country, with three divisions, A-Liga, B-Liga, and C-Liga. The league has dominated by the three big Sant'Elia clubs; CA Conquistadores (69 Campiocinatos), Condensadores CD (62), Caballeros CF (60), as well as by Qolo-Qolo (48). Internazionale (23), Atletico Sant'Elia (17), Unión Gimignano CF (17), AS Débardeurs Nationale (11), Magisterio AC (9), Académica di Terrabianco (4), RCD San Marco (1), Clube Cobreloa (1), and FC Sommieres Hibernia (1) are the other clubs to have sealed a title so far. Most big clubs are represented in the selection of players to go to the Cup of Harmony, as they were for the BoF and qualifying campaign, with captain Ricardo Velasquez, descendant of the legendary captain Stefano Velasquez, looking to unite the usually very partisan fans of the Sant'Elia clubs so that they may get behind and support the team.

The Karditan Robber Barons

Soccer is illegal in Karditan (though gaining a larger underground support, largely thanks to the national team qualifying for WC63). Thus, this is a team of criminals and corrupt businessmen. All players with no further notation are human.

Starting 11

Goalkeeper- Emanuel Portico. One of the most successful petty thieves in all of Karditan (as well as being surprisingly worldly, having spent several years hiding abroad), he is incredibly agile and specializes in predicting the movements of adversaries. While his reflexes are starting to dull as he progresses into his thirties, he's still an extremely skilled shot-stopper, having been the second-best keeper during WC63 qualification (let's not talk about WC63 itself). Happily married to Sweet Swing.

Left Back- Xavier Helm. A man oddly obsessed with the middle ages, he's suspected of several sword-, bow-, crossbow-, and trebuchet-related deaths. He swears that only the trebuchet ones were his fault, as he was still trying to figure out how a sexton worked. The rest he apparently just uses to hunt. Mostly deer, but it's not odd for him to bag the occasional mountain lion or bear. Plays in his full suit of armor, which slows him down (but not as much as might be expected. He's been training in that armor for a long time) but makes him much more intimidating.

Center Back- Porfirio Mendoza. The new commissioner of the Karditani Baseball League, Porfirio is a true sportsman who can appreciate any sport. He honestly does not understand the abhor the rest of Karditan has for soccer, and hopes to improve the sport's reputation. He's also a brilliant strategist, heading up one of the best defenses in the world.

Center Back- Dust Pan. [Unicorn] The head janitor in Silveen Eleco's Fillydelphia estate (see below), he is incredibly quick and maneuverable--taken from years of experience darting through needlessly elaborate hallways and corridors to fix and clean any problems that appeared anywhere on the massive grounds.

Right Back- Red Trotski. [Earth Pony] An infamous public speaker hailing from Moscolt. Hated pretty much universally for his vocal support of Communism, but isn't actually a criminal. Karditani free speech laws are pretty lenient. He has been known to make foals cry

Defensive Midfielder- Havr Milosivek. A freelancer who spends most of his time roaming the streets of Moscolt, Havr is a generally amiable guy who isn't afraid to smash a few shins if you push his buttons the wrong way. If his Russian accent gets thick enough that you can barely understand what he's saying, you should probably stay away from him; but that doesn't happen too often. Will sometimes have to leave the pitch temporarily to respond to calls from his cousin Roman.

Midfielder- Yong-Hu Cho. Leader of the largest Triad in Neighpon. A bit of an amateur in organized crime when compared to Korzado and Carnac (below), but still not a man you want to cross--he is far more focused on revenge and overt displays of superiority than the other two (which is very amateurish in a crime boss). Probably the most likely of the starting eleven to get red-carded. Also skilled at crossing.

Forward Midfielder- Sweet Swing. [Earth Pony] The one member of the Robber Barons who is neither a criminal nor a bad ~~person~~ pony. She's the daughter of famous Karditani golfer Tyre McIron, and happily married to Emanuel Portico.

Forward- Lightning Heart. [Buffalo] A bison with a bad temper. Really, that's it. More assault & battery convictions than you can shake a horn at. Isn't very swift, but few people will want to be in his way if he gets up to speed.

Forward- Korzado. [Zebra] One of the few Zebras in Karditan, Korzado runs the Illineigh Mafia. His influence can be found in almost every successful business venture in the city, as well as many in Detrot and Sinsinatti. A legion of all types of creatures serve him, and he might be the only being richer than Eleco (see below) in Karditan--but he doesn't flaunt his wealth like Eleco does. Almost all of it is re-invested, whether in businesses or bribes.

Striker- Mario Cansetta. One of the higher-ups in Korzado's organization, Mario is in charge of collecting protection fees in Sinsinatti as well as organizing the official unofficial street racing league of Karditan. He's generally good-natured (he tries to convince his clients to pay their fees because he genuinely doesn't want to beat them a new one), and is fiercely competitive. He'll take some bad shots, but it's damn hard for defenders to keep up with him.

Manager- Sucker Punch. [Unicorn] A skilled magician who's special ability is illusions of the nefarious kind, Punch is a strategic genius who plans to bring Karditan to the top (and has partially achieved his goal, securing qualification last cycle). He runs the most successful corporate advertising/propaganda firm in Fillydelphia, and keeps the team playing some of the best defensive ball in the world. -- Retired
Morrgo-Gerrna ~~Thunder~~. [Bear] A former footballer and manager from Bears Armed, Morrgo-Gerrna was caught up in a technicality of the law and needs to spend some time outside the reach of the authorities. What better way for her to safely stay on the lam while also continuing her passion for football than managing the best criminal squad (and the second-best not-entirely-humanoid squad) in the multiverse?

Defensive Coach- Carnac Carson. The biggest personality in Karditani crime, Carnac is the guy you go to when you need a hookup. Everyone who is anyone has grabbed a beer with him at one point or another. Is rumored to have some future-telling powers.

Financier- Silveen Eleco. The Man in Karditan. He runs Eleco Industries, the largest company in Karditan's largest industry--Electronics. He inherited the moderately-sized business from his father, Sylvester, and grew it to enormous proportions with brilliant economics and some underhanded business practices. He organized the Robber Barons and put together their entry into the World Cup, maintaining a large role on the running of the team though he no longer plays.

1- Jeremiah Drake “General”
Age: 28
Bio: Drake serves as not only a spectacular goalkeeper, but also as the team's on field strategist. From his position at the back of the field he tracks the movements of the players of both teams, often calling out specific formation changes. It is for this reason that he is often chosen as the starting goalkeeper instead of Smith. He has excellent instincts and vision, but his small stature puts him at a disadvantage against many strikers. Mycellena's premature (according to Drake) defeat in the BoF has since encouraged Drake to redouble his efforts to improve his pre-game preparation.

12- Delence Smith “Roadblock”
Age: 25
Bio: In terms of pure technical skill, Smith is likely the best goalkeeper in Mycellena. He maneuvers his tall and slender frame with a speed that often seems contradictory. He shines especially in penalty kick situations and is often replaces Drake in those situations

Defenders:

8- Torvos Highcrest “The Castle”
Age: 28
Bio: Standing nearly seven feet tall, Highcrest is an imposing figure. Most of the time the mere presence of his towering bulk can be enough to deter a potential shot. Rumors abound with grave injuries he had supposedly caused due to this immense strength. In reality, he is one of the gentlest members of the team and always feels genuinely sorry whenever an opposing player gets injured.

4- Tobias Anderson “Seer”
Age: 21
Bio: The brains of the Mycellena defense, Anderson often works in conjunction with Drake to predict the opponent's movements and shut down potential threats almost as soon as they materialize. This ability to determine with uncanny accuracy the most prevalent threat, along with his pastime of performing tarrot readings, has earned him his nickname several times over.

9- Theodore Blunk “Barbarian”
Age: 23
Bio: Blunk not the smartest soccer player, but Blunk good at stopping opponents from scoring goals. Blunk sometimes gets too eager when stopping goals. Blunk sometimes given cards for hurting other players. Blunk has big collection of cards now. Blunk like other members of Thunderhawks, they allow Blunk to kick soccer ball. Sometimes Blunk kick too hard and miss passes. It make Blunk sad.

7- Marissa Golden “Dancer”
Age: 24
Bio: Just to look at her, Golden wouldn't seem like a soccer player. Her long blonde (and frequently dyed) hair along with her slender figure set a clear distinction in most people's minds from the ideal defender. However, to underestimate her just because of her looks is certainly a losing strategy. On the field she displays remarkable agility, often stealing the ball right under a forward's nose.

Midfielders:

2 CP- Matthew Kardell “Maximus”
Age: 27
Bio: In many ways Kardell is the heart and soul of the team. He's always the first one to show up to practice and the last one to leave. His mere presence on the field makes everyone else play that much harder. He is also the originator of the abridged version of the team's motto: “As One!” which he often uses as a rallying cry during an intense moment of the game. His technical skills, although not the best on the team, are backed by mountains of endurance and it is a rare sight to see him taken out of the game for anything less than a crippling injury.

6- : Alabaster Florence “Bard”
Age: 23
Bio: Florence is a bit of an oddball in the soccer community. In addition to his athletics commitment, he also engrosses himself in all manor of arts. From painting to poetry, he lives both the life of the artist and the life of a professional soccer player.

3- John Doe “Phantom”
Age: ???
Bio: Few people seem to know anything about Doe. He drifted into the Mycellena tryouts one day, demonstrated extreme amounts of natural athletic ability and was taken aside by the coach on the spot. Nobody knows what was said that day, though the press love to speculate. Doe himself is a quiet individual, rarely showing emotion or speaking to the press, however on the field he displays an uncanny speed, seeming to come from nowhere and steal the ball away from the oppositon.

11- Benjamin Myer “Wiz Kid”
Age: 19
Bio: At only 19 years old, Myer is one of Mycellena's rising stars. Despite his relative inexperience on the field, his technical skill is sound and his work ethic nearly rivals Kardell's. He still makes the occasional tactical blunder, but responds to any mistakes with a wide smile and a promise to do better. Benjamin is beginning to show promise as an offensive oriented midfielder, taking more shots than would often be expected of his position, still he has a ways to go.

Forwards:

5- Henry Miles “The Prince”
Age: 24
Bio: If there was a prize for the biggest ego on the Mycellena team, Miles would win it ten times over. Beyond the actual sport of soccer, Miles most enjoys attention from the press and the post-game parties in the host country. Even on the field, his self confidence is overwhelming and mostly deserved, serving as one half of the Mycellena offensive Still, despite his impressive array of skills most members of the team find him grating, even more so due to their reliance on his abilities to win. After facing stiff competition for the first time in his life, Miles' ego has forced him to redouble his efforts at becoming the centerpiece of Mycellena's offense.

10- Sven Vidal “Tempest”
Age: 22
Bio: The other half of the Mycellan offensive, Vidal somehow manages to be even louder than his egotistical counterpart Miles. Many of his teammates have joked that his time in the south damaged his hearing and made him unable to talk in anything below a full bellow. On the field, he dances around at breakneck speed, shifting constantly to avoid defenders. There are often times when this burst of energy doesn't pay off and he's forced to be swapped out due to either injury or exhaustion. He has a strong rivalry with Miles.

Reserves:
-Several unnamed members of the team make up Mycellena's reserve list. Barring an unusual amount of injuries or outside effects, the starting eleven form the backbone of the team.

The Staff:

Head Coach: Adam Cohan
Age: 58
Bio: In his youth, Cohan had the humblest of beginnings. Starting his life as a poor farm boy, Cohan's childhood hobby of kicking around a soccer ball with his friends eventually broadened into a full fledged career. He got a full scholarship to a prestigious Mycellena University purely on the virtue on his soccer prowess. He played his heart out in every game, until finally he joined up with the official Mycellena national team. After years of playing, Cohan finally was forced to admit that he wasn't getting any younger and was dropped from professional soccer. Cohan didn't take forced retirement well. He developed a surly temper even as he moved from being a player to an observer. He is a firm believer in self-betterment and tough love. Deep down, he secretly wishes that he was the one out there on the field, but chooses instead to try and instill his passion for the sport into the next generation of players.

Assistant Head Coach: Edward Nathaniel
Age: 43
Bio: Once upon a time, Nathaniel was one of Mycellena's most promising soccer players. He had everything, skill, grace, stamina. All of it was ruined in a freak accident when Nathaniel was the victim of a hit and run. To this day, nobody knows the full truth of who was behind the accident- though multiple different suspects have been suggested by the media. Nathaniel endures his shattered leg with a smile and a warm personality, never letting it seem to get him down significantly. However, he is acutely aware of the dangers of over-competitiveness and always attempts to make sure his team sees the opposition as more than just enemies, but also a companions with a shared pastime.

Team Doctor: Lilly Selena
Age: 35
Bio: Selena doesn't seem like the type of person who would want to be around a dirty soccer field all day. With a masters in biology and a PhD in psychology, she easily could have obtained a job at nearly any other medical job. However, for some inexplicable reason, she dismisses the lab favored by most of her peers and prefers the soccer scene. She tries her best to keep players healthy and safe, but also realizes that the nature of the sport means that injuries occur with an abundance of injuries. She has clashed with the captain in the past about working the team too hard.

Great Cup, Great Expectations

After shocking the world, including ourselves, with our best display in the World Cup in a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time the Milchama Warriors are back in their 40th (or 41st for those believers) attempt at an actual World Cup trophy. This time though, for the first time since World Cup 47 or so the Warriors actually have an outside shot at winning it. More importantly though, this is the first World Cup since the Milchamian glory years where the Warriors are expected to actually qualify. Anything less than qualification will be considered a miserable failure and treated with censure by the government. This is a team with expectations, a team where things WILL go well or else. Of course considering how well they did last time, nothing was changed. In the traditional Milchmian manner. They are managed by Kenny Rintell.
