Twenty-Fourth Aeropag Football Invitational
(prior to UICA season 44)

Invitees
Observing the popularity of the various aerial methods the PSC has used to invite teams to past Invitationals, it decided to use the Paripana Open Cup as a test bed to determine football administrators’ reactions to a wide array of invitation delivery systems. After ruling out the worst of the ideas, such as parrots (deemed “annoying as hell”), helicopters carved from ice (only CF Aéropag’s successfully reached its destination; the rest sadly melted into the Jativan Sea), and flying monks (which not only turned out to be logistically infeasible, but also provoked a battle with the bishops of St Raphael), the Council eventually reached the inescapable conclusion that miniature biplanes are the cutest and most personable flying machine ever devised. A quick flood fill transformed the purple and silver livery of the Open Cup into the navy and gold of the Aeropag Invitational before the designs were sent off to the printer, and a few days later the squadron of sixteen set off on their maiden voyages. Their destinations included the new frontiers of Kinitaria and Swyftlandre, the vaguely-familiar sights of Mytannion and Tyrrin, as well as the commonplace journeys to Ciudagua and CF Aéropag’s office upstairs.

Teams finishing first, second, and third receive the appropriate medals, teams finishing first through fourth are awarded trophies of varying size, and teams finishing fifth or lower get a commemorative plaque.

And the season has finished! Gwinevra Barbarians retain their title, increasing the duopoly on the tournament that they and Dwile Warriors have had since its creation. Egloskerry finish 3rd in a great performance by them, and so they qualify for the Globe Cup for the first time. Issington F.C, although they didn't get the title they wanted, finished 4th after jumping about all over the table, so Globe Cup for them as well. Urbanista, for the first time, miss out on a Globe Cup spot, and so they'll have to make do with the Iskander-Scott Cup against the winners of the Iskandic League, St George's Creek.

Further down, Wye United and Mandon United had a good season, finishing 6th and 7th respectively. Mona A.F.C just manage to survive finishing 10th, whilst Athletico Standard and Barbury Town finish in the relegation spots, Barbury after having a spectacularly bad season.

After a strong campaign, Exton F.C are straight back to the top. Cierbana will be delighted to join them, three seasons after they were knocked-out. Gurdle A.F.C and Miners '47 will join those two in the SBCC. Sunshine Athletic and Southtown came close, but ultimately fell at the last hurdle. And at the bottom Frewick F.C came last by a resounding 9 points.

The Khytennan Federal Premiership

Season summery:

After a 20 year wait, Kings District finally win the league, and in the process beating the Taevon and Blue Bay dominance at the top, who, have shared the top spot for the past 10 seasons!. they Left it late securing the title in the last game where a 3-1 lose to Taevon left Blue bays hope of victory is tatters. Garwoods surge up the table was a slight surprise as last session they came 10th in the league, but the biggest disappointment was from the Tellio Cheaquers, who finished 3 last session and was channelling for the number one, this season they finished last!!

Overal a trilling session.

And here we have another season's results. After two seasons, Armée de la Deesse, the inaugural and also two-time champions of the Ligue 1 re-obtained the Trophé de la Déesse with style on the front. Marine du Kitsunia, Girondins du Soleiville and Forces Aériennes filled up the spots for Globe Cup edging out, once again, Athletique Azteque, who will have to deal with the spot for the Heritage Cup. On the other side of the table, two Associaciones de la Jeunesses had to deal with relegation. AJ Allentelle had to deal with rock-bottom relegation right on the button, while AJ Caenne joined them not too far later, leaving the tournament quite pointless to other teams such as Le Coq Athletique and Lillines Athletique.

On Ligue 2, Damenpierre Sportive and FC Pays-de-Bolles only managed to secure their promotions with Sudennes du Kitsunia, 21 Marselleinne, Bellemont Foot and Defians du Sioux fighting for the other two spots of the Globe Cup.

Thatian Fußball Liga

After a long wait, the first season of the Thatian Fußball Liga (TFL) began with eighteen teams competing for a spot in the UICA Champions Cup. Heavy favorites Westgate Srbija failed to capture the title, even with leading players from Thatius' national team, including Jake McCord and Tomislav Novaković. Instead the newly-formed club FK Brevik claimed the league title, even though they had one less win than second-place finisher, Barklay Athletic. Barklay Athletic, although, along with both Westgate Srbija and Città di Kastos managed to secure their spots in the Globe Cup.

International competition

Cygnus Cup: CA Condadore, who have won a bunch of cups but probably aren't even that good, lost to Scott City FC by five goals. Which is a lot of goals. Then we hosted the final.

Okay, um, yes, we did, but that came after the UICA stuff so can we maybe do that?

Series B Champions' Cup: Piratas de Grisolon lost to the West Coast Angels (not those ones, the other ones, in the second division and all), but Arcrés Millos and CSD Trecelunas took out a pair of saints before winning on away goals. Though they split in the playoff round, a team from another saintly city would join them in the group stage as Ojedo Cerro beat Juvapanam to progress. Millos would be eliminated there, despite cornering the market on Cabañas effect, but Ojedo Cerro progressed after a relatively strong defensive display. After easing up in the second leg of their first knockout round, their defense would remain in full force up until the final, which saw them defeated in emphatic fashion (and megaphone guys scramble to recall the details of CSD Trecelunas' triumph in SBCC 23).

Sure, but usually we do things in a more chronological order...

Champions' Cup: Unión de Ciudagua started things off by making an early exit; CF Clan Tropa went ahead and put up the best performance of the group stage before going out to Jungle Strike FC.

Aeropag Football Invitational: Unión de Ciudagua put up the best goal difference of the group stage, then went through another penalty shootout. And got some medals.

Alianza Ciruelas did not participate, of course, but quite enjoy their nice new kits.

Wait a minute, what's going on?

Globe Cup: Blén and Condadore, those conjoined mopers, won their first matchup and lost their second. Ciruelas lost their only matchup, but only on away goals, and Ciudagua only needed to win one to make the group stage. There, they progressed after some expected results and some less so.

A high-scoring encounter with Sonoma Center set up a far closer encounter against KQ Nepáïire Tingitana; despite losing at home, they would rally back on away goals to defeat the...nationalists? We're not entirely up to speed on our Noterelenda but why not take a stab. Anyway. Scott City FC were much more easily cast aside, at least by Ciudagua, because they are a good team and could totally beat Scott City. By five. Catching up with Ibini was easy, but beating them required taking away their away-goals advantage. This required some late heroics from Lucio Antúnez.

Then it was off to statuesque Juvapanam, where they totally lost.

Hey, I know you, you're the flamboyant commentator for Unión de Ciudagua!

You said you wanted a quality announcer.

And you've just been trying to sort all these tournaments by how well they did in them? But that doesn't even make sense, they weren't in either the Cygnus Cup or the SBCC!

Well, I have to make somewhat arbitary decisions in the case of a tie. Such as--

Primera División

Let us begin by considering Deportivo Peralta. Ninth and eighth in each of the last two seasons, they were pundits' consensus pick to come eighth again, perhaps finishing behind their fellow all-out-attackers of Dénprade. And true to form, they did come eighth! With Dénprade better than that! Among their victories were a convincing takedown of newcomers CD Quemavilla, 7-0. Quemavilla, you will recall, decided they didn't need to waste time and effort on the SBCC, and coasted through the last Clausura before beating 12 de noviembre in the playoff replay to get promoted. But surely--we all thought--they're not a good team?

As for Dénprade, well, they actually finished somewhat better than seventh. All the way up in fourth place and the Globe Cup! Because some upsets are the natural way of things! The new manager, Rolando Miralles, is fitting in somewhat better than it would seem. Players credit his success with being willing to schedule practices at all hours and tailor-making strategies to fit their skills. There's almost enough strategery and deep thought going on to make it look like a university, but don't be silly.

Alianza Ciruelas underachieved and ICD Villago were sixth, but what else is new.

Oh, you want to know about Condadore being new? They got upset. A lot. Maybe distracted by their cup run, just as maybe Ojedo Cerro were distracted by their run to the final--but this theory fails to hold water seeing as how Ciudagua stayed competitive to the end of everything in sight.

Oh, shut up, you. Condadore, as you will see, are now very much not the team of cups, so it's back to upset central, I guess. Uh, yeah.

Seriously, Quemavilla, what the heck.

Segunda División

A moment to celebrate our champions, Ciervos de Granagua. As you can clearly see, their defense is very good! This is because they are quite a defensive team! They are not all-out defenders, but they come close. And I don't mean "close" as in "sort of close, a big ol' notch away," as is the case for CF Clan Tropa (or Trecelunas FC, back when they were good). I mean, actually close, as in, a small and standardized notch away. This is the case for...probably none of our teams you've heard of. In fact, if Granagua make it to the first division, they would be the first team there whose tactical style uses the standardized-notches scale; that is to say, nobody had heard of them before the pyramid as we know it with the cup structure was fleshed out fourteen seasons ago. All the other first-division teams have strange, old-fashioned tactics that have been grandfathered in (although for all-out attacking, defending, or completely neutral teams, you'd never know the difference).

Which is a long and cryptic way of saying they are a newfangled team, and perhaps they will bring change. Perhaps not.

Also, they totally made the cup final once, but that doesn't mean we care.

It has surprisingly many accessability ramps, in case your legs have been patriotically blown up but you would still like to take in a game live. It--do you want to say something about how great it is? I'm sure you do, but I'm also sure you haven't gone to the trouble of preparing anything half as glossy as you would like, so--no, in all seriousness, the ramps and elevators are pretty good at getting people around, and a few sections even have those front rows set off so you can park your wheelchair there.

GC: Estadio Valor, Dénprade (38,000)
It hosted the recent Cygnus Cup without incident. Well there were lots of incidents. Just no bad incidents. Like, all the concession stands stayed open and none of them ran out of food, even though there was extra time and penalties! Although the waiters on the concession stand near section 115 were disappointed because they were totally planning on embezzling any leftovers, the boss, Jorge, found out and several of them have been fired. But they rehired new ones and it's been good so far.

SBCC:

"Estadio Grisolon." It is located in Grisolon. It seats 40,000. It is owned by Rosa Montana, despite her lawyers' best attempts to swindle her out of it. The surrounding area is the city of Grisolon, whose fans mostly have more competitive tickets to fight for these days but what the hey, they're peaceful people. The surrounding surrounding area is...like...the coast...or something. We're not too bothered.

Copa:

First Round:

Quite the high-scoring bundle of games we wrapped up with there, eh? Enlivening things up were Mapabore's second team, with a pair of three-goal wins, and Centro del Esquivo, who held out during the long trip to Puerto Ágape Industrial.

Second Round:

Well, okay, uh....what the heck.

There was an old-time rivalry, Estudiantes de Íguen holding Universidad de Dénprade to a draw before succumbing on the road. Once again the fans were furious but in the wrong town to wrathfully destroy their excuse of a stadium, although now that they're in the third division they are now safely out of sight. Good grief.

An exhausted Centro del Esquivo more than succumbed to Unión de Ciudagua, who really are very good.

CD Quemavilla at least suggested they were more than a fluke by annihilating once-surprising-cup-team Universidad de Arroyandos.

The Pumas had to rally back in extra time against Valejano del Oeste FC, and they were supported in this endeavor by pretty much anyone who cares about football. Jacin Bergasa scored the winning goal, before José Rengifo added another brace.

Also, CA Condadore looked like a good cup team.

Third Round:

We began with a MUFN derby (and a rematch of this round last time, apparently, with the opposite result). 12 de noviembre weren't favorites, but were close on paper, and handily controlled the first ninety minutes. They probably should have been controlling the second ninety as well, Betina Hierro is one of their second strikers and hardly looked offsides, but so it goes.

Unión de Ciudagua are still pretty good (and you can quit cackling), CA Condadore stopped looking like a good cup team.

Fourth Round:

Ciudagua...this is not funny. Okay, Arcrés Millos were stupidly good too, for being in the second division and all. The real excitement came in a battle of top-flight sides, with Miralles' Dénprade expertly taking down Ojedo Cerro and not a moment too soon. Okay, actually there were a lot of moments after that, but Mateo Carlos' late substitution looked inspired once he assisted Escobar Lanos on the winner.

Two blowouts and two nailbiters, the last game involving Casimira Restrepo scoring the winner six minutes in. Millos are just very sick of losing by six goals; Dénprade either don't have this kind of track record, or have blocked it out of their memories.

And then the battle of the on-paper top two, a showdown with some history behind it. Though once Antúnez scored the equalizer in the second game one sort of thought momentum had to go Ciudagua's way, the AFI aside. Turns out they took care of business in extra time, with Bibiana Davino getting it done.

Ramón Galindo opened the scoring on twenty-seven minutes, followed by Basadre's equalizer and Antúnez' equalizer shortly thereafter in the second half. Unión de Ciudagua to the Cygnus Cup, bidding to host is:

So there's this new beer you can get outside section 209, and it's apparently pretty flavorful and made by people who take their beer seriously. What's weird about it is it hardly ever figures in the "which beer did you drink" tally marks on the bathroom grafitti. So apparently it doesn't make you go to the bathroom that much? Either because it's new or, just, the producers are more concerned about perfecting the taste than making sure you come back and buy more and more and increase their profits. So sort of committed artisans. I'd give it a try if I was a beer person.

Champions' Cup

The biggest stadium in the Federation and one of the loudest, the steep banks of the Nasjonale's upper tiers are the perfect place to watch the drama unfold on the pitch. This stadium is no stranger to drama or ceremony, having seen Astograth and Sargossa score three goals in extra time between them in the Copa Rushmori final, and has also hosted the TPPO of the World Cup in the past. Centrally located and a national landmark, the Nasjonale is modern, constantly being worked on in the off-seasons to keep it as one of the best equipped stadiums in the multiverse, and has extensive hospitality suites.

Globe Cup

The hosting of the UICA's second most prestigious tournament requires a stadium with a little bit of character to compensate for the attention and prestige that is rightly lost to the Champions' Cup final, and we think that Mossy Park is that stadium. Located in the old naval city of Resolute, its two tiered seating surrounds the whole pitch, presenting it like a theatre production. The old stands creak and ooze with character, and you can pack a surprising amount of fans in, which all creates something of an intense atmosphere.

Series B Champions' Cup

Having seen the mechanics all the way to a win in the final back in SBCC40, The Workshop is well familiar with the idea of Series B football. Large and imposing, its four stands are flanked with towered corners, and it is built on the original site of the workshop that gave the Mechanics their name. Significantly warmer than most Polarian stadiums thanks to its more southerly isolation, this also means the locals can be starved of big-ticket football, so huge neutral support is guaranteed.

Copa de Campeones

As the home of the reigning champions, the Argonauts are submitting their home stadium for consideration in hosting the final in the hope that they will be in it to contest it once again. Named after a folk hero - the first captain of legendary boat the Argon, the boat that gave the club their nickname - this stadium is situated below the fields and training complexes that make up the Multiverse-famous Haapa-Mechelin Youth Academy.

Cygnus Cup

With its hosting of the TPPO for the recent Copa despite many stadia in the Federation being larger, The Barge has underlined its cult status as something of a 'second stadium' for the national team. Floating in the lagoon like the rest of the city of Bjarnarey, this unique stadium has been known to rock and roll both with the waves and the motions of the fans on the inside. No self-respecting football fan in Polar Islandstates goes their life without seeing at least one game there - and now we invite the Multiverse to share in this unique experience.

St George Creek narrowly won, beating TP Indians into the play-off with the 5th placed team from the ANL. At the bottom The Dambuster had a poor season to finish last.

"I know of the fans I made here, even though that at the time of my move, no one expected that an Apoxian would make such fame at Northern Sunrise, but, my time has come. I desire to progress at my life and... I'm officially leaving the Senators at the end of the season to coach for Old Guard. It was a hard decision, but I know that I'm not leaving a team that can't back up themselves."

Those were the words of Ken Rickwright, the captain of the Matthew City Senators at the pre-season, after a draw against a very lucky Red Bull Brighton City, 0-0. The Sens' fans were speechless. Sure, they knew it would come some day, but that wasn't exactly the day they'd expect. The only thing they could do is thank him for his time at the team and hope that the Sens could give Rickwright a last season that he could enjoy.

In fact, the city of Matthew was filled with posters and signs saying "Thank You, Rick!". Needless to say, another group wasn't really a fan of all that love for the Senators' captain. The Rangers. The team that was normally overshadowed due to their positions weren't the least happy with that situation. All that attention, where was the love for them?

In Mabel, something else was rolling. ITV. The company that owned the Mabel Wigglytuffs was having the worst year of their existance. While not hitting financial problems, their ethics were discussed. This all started when the company seemed to be putting some extra money on their hockey team, surpassing the league's cap and thus, breaking the rules of the SHL. Eventually, ITV was forced to sell the team for half of the original price and thus the Mabel Oilers started. While the team was unaffected at other sports, the company was and the NSIFC decided to take away their rights of broadcasting alone the Premier League.

This enabled competition and many channels took their try. SkyCraft, UBC, STP and UbiCom now joined ITV on broadcast and now with more money to spend, the NSIFC decided to regulamentate various questions about the money percentage each team recieved and so on. The Premier League of NSI gained somewhat of a status as a game produced on Northern Sunrise, International Football 1, from Snowflake Games, decided to add a photo with all of the twenty-four teams captains and give an extra name, thus making the full name of the game "International Football 1 - Premier League of the Marills". The game also focused on several leagues of Esportiva and some other small leagues. While not featuring the most famous leagues of the world, featured quite a bunch and the results of the game were all around good.

This season welcomed the Hayden City Lightning, as they debuted at the Premier League after promoting in second place, with the returning Mignon Beart Charmers obtaining the League One's title and was the first season without the Davencreek Victinis and the Seaside Wartortles. A surprise, since newer teams, such as Braddock Town Attack and Villenueve City Racers were staying, after all.

As the game on Ayeville ended, there wasn't too much on the table. The Sens were already guaranteed at the Campionato Esportivano di Campeones once again, while Ayeville had already guaranteed another season at the Premier League. There was celebration, however. This was the last game of Rickwright. The Sens were giving their last good-bye to their Great One as he now entered another challenge. Thankfully, the Sens were at Ayeville, because if they were at their own home, things wouldn't have flourished that well.

The InComm Arena was hosting the match between the Matthew City Rangers and the Mallwill Hitmonlees. The Rangers, captained by Christie Travis, had been an all-around upsetter, when considering how their other seasons went. However, the Lees were the ones getting the upset on their side. 80 minutes of match and only one goal had been scored, at the first half by Joanne Harting, the team's nekonian master player. Meanwhile, at Villenueve, the Lopunnies were celebrating like if they actually won the title after beating the good-for-nothing team of the Villenueve City Racers. With their victory, and the Rangers loss, the Punnies would become the only team of NSI with more than two Premier League titles, earning their third title, while the Sens had two titles and the Pikachus had one, the inaugural.

Then, it happened. Travis passed to Kwit, Kwit passed back to Travis. Travis shot. Goal. In the 87th minute, Travis got the goal and five minutes later, the Rangers' dream was finally reached.
