He turned to the new entity, having heard his claim of ownership of the world.

"I'm gonna have to stop you right there. Normally I would show you how wrong you are in thinking you can just waltz right in and claim it as yours, but I'm a bit busy as of late and need to be going. But mark my words, this world isn't yours, nor any other outsiders', and it will be free. Now if you'll excuse me, I must go... Oh, and good to see you again Dani. Really missed you."

He walked off to Naomi.

She chuckled as she hugged Dani. "The one you just left? I haven't kept tabs on it since departing it. But come on, I'll put on tea and maybe a liver, if you still like them? You can tell me all about what went on there."

He lead her to a park. The sun was just disappearing behind the horizon, night had just fallen.

Dani waved, generally glad to just be alive, rather than hiding amongst the ruins of city, using a cobbled-together atmosphere suit just to live.

"Sure, I suppose, starving to death was not as easy as I had thought.." Dani said, following Swith. The man had disappeared.

Lidev, after successfully locating the building, hopped down, and then took up one of the bodies in her arms. Grizzly took the other and the squad went down the wasteland of a street. They came in through the front door, Lidev and Grizzly, and carried the two bodies to the dining room, where they laid them down. The rest of Dagger One was checking their wounds, weapons, or surroundings.

Naomi followed Bones after bidding NVE, Gretta and Fortu goodnight.


Swith led Dani back to the apartment, walking arm and arm with her. "Girl, I really did miss you. I know you might not realize it, but I enjoy having you around. Do you want to stay with us again? It's gotten a wee bit more crowded down there."

"I was kidnapped by Mavis and turned into an AI. The let me design augmentations until...le't just say that I was fired when my creations escaped...and destroyed the place." Fortu said shyly. "You happened to our lab Naomi, you set it on fire and we now have nothing left. We totaled the car when we killed Mavis." Gretta said in an unusual calm, attempting to surpress anger. "I was thinking that we can stay at your apartment while ours get's fixed." NVE suggested.

All the self-proclaimed lord of the Earth would hear in Bones' head was a childish Tee-hee-hee style laughter and the sound of two hands rubbing together.

Bones lead Naomi to the park and turned to her.

"I remember what you said earlier, about people dying and us doing nothing. I understand this invasion must be taking quite a toil on you."

The darkness of the night seemed so think with the despair and grief of the millions dead, the crying of anguish.

"... Well, I decided, "Fuck the rules" just this once and did something about it. It was a real pain, me and my brothers running about the many and myriad ways between life and death, but we did it."

He removed something from his jacket. Cupped in his hands was some sort of strange light, so bright in the darkness, that seemed to emit a feeling of solace, a bright candle of joy and happiness that could never be put out.

"Every. Single. Goddamn. Soul. All of them. We saved them. None left behind. We did it. Nearly killed us from the effort, but we did it."

"Invasion," Swith confirmed to Dani. "What can you tell me about the fellow who dropped you off?"

"Oh, he's nice, I guess, by which I mean he is boring. He never smiles, or frowns, or eats, or sleeps. Nothing. He did show me around his.. well, I'm not sure what you would call it.. er.. sack-realm?" She said, trying to remember the word 'Pocket Universe'.

NVE saw the two bodies on the table. "Are those...?" he asked implying that Monfrox and the User had died.
